ABSTRACT This case report describes the holistic performance of the multidisciplinary team in a context of approaching the moment of death of a newborn, in a cross-cultural approach, and its impact on the working group. We report the clinical case of a neonate diagnosed as severe congenital heart disease, who evolved with early surgical intervention and died on the second day of life. Considering the neonatal intensive care unit an area requiring performance of a specialized team that addresses, with a high level of complexity, in a broad way, the patient, and his family, the death of a child breaks the logic of the life cycle. The multiprofessional and family management of the newborn in question illustrates the opportunities that are still being improved in the care of mourning in the neonatal period. Demonstrating that the care process does not end at the time of death, and the period of mourning is still a challenge for the neonatal team. Even so, parents can be welcomed, with care provided in a private and secure manner, with their needs, and preserved individuality. We observe the need for professional qualification and support for mourning and the need for specific institutional policies, since the health organizations must be attentive and take care of those who care, be cared for with a different look at their emotions.

Abstract The combination of ethnobotanical and ecological knowledge is an important tool in indicating priority species for conservation. We sought to gather ethnobotanical knowledge on the diversity and use of woody medicinal plants in the Chapada Araripe region, assessing the real availability of woody medicinal resources in the Araripe Forests in the cerrado and carrasco areas, and indicate priority species for conservation. A total of 107 species were recorded in the ethnobotanical surveys, classified into 39 families and 83 genera, of which 92 species, 36 families and 70 genera for the cerrado areas, and 47 species, 25 families and 39 genera, for the carrasco areas. 59% were present in the phytosociological surveys for cerrado and 38% for carrascos. Species with high versatility of medicinal use did not necessarily have high local availability, and some were not recorded in the sampling. Thirteen species in cerrados and four in carrascos were indicated as conservation priorities. Use not aligned of species with the reality of the present time can indeed affect the vegetation landscape, and in a future scenario, not taking local measures to conserve protected forest resources, besides increasing the lists of local conservation priorities, can affect economic practices, increasing social and environmental conflicts.

Abstract This study aims to investigate the diversity of native medicinal plants in a caatinga area, verifying the versatility of species and concordance of use among the informants, in the Angico de Cima community, in the city of Aurora, Ceará, Brazil. Ethnobotanical data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with key informants, adopting the snowball technique. The Relative Importance (RI) and Consensus Factor among Informants (ICF) were analyzed to indicate the most versatile species with the highest agreement of use, respectively. Within the 35 registered native species, eight presented great versatility, with a RI> 1, standing out Ziziphus joazeiro Mart. (1.86) and Heliotropium indicum (L.) Lehm (1.67). The 60 therapeutic indications were grouped into 13 body systems categories, of which Genitourinary System Disorder and Nervous, had the highest agreement of use with ICF from 0.8, each. Some species, such as Heliotropium indicum, have a high RI, are scarcely indicated for therapeutic activities in caatinga and require studies that prove their medicinal properties.

OBJETIVOS: CD5 é um marcador normalmente expresso nas células T e de forma aberrante nas células B da leucemia linfocítica crônica (LLC) e no linfoma de células do manto (LCM). Outras doenças linfoproliferativas crônicas como a hairy cell leukemia (HCL) e leukemia prolinfocítica de células B (LPL-B), são geralmente CD5 negativas ou expressam fracamente este antígeno. Neste trabalho investigou-se o padrão de expressão do CD5 em 42 pacientes com doenças linfoproliferativas crônicas de células B (DLC-B). METODOS: Investigamos a expressão de CD5 em células leucêmicas de 42 pacientes com DLC-B através da citometria de fluxo. Dados demográficos, tais como idade e sexo, bem como dados clínicos e laboratoriais também foram analisados. RESULTADOS: A imunofenotipagem mostrou que 35 casos foram LLC, 3 LPL-B, 3 HCL e um caso de LMC. O CD5 mostrou-se fortemente expresso em todos os casos de LLC e LMC. Baixa expressão desse antígeno foi observada em um caso de LPL-B, mostrando-se negativamente expresso em todos os casos de HCL. CONCLUSÃO: Nossos resultados demonstram que o padrão de expressão do CD5 pode auxiliar na distinção entre LLC da HCL e LPL-B, sendo no entanto similares na HCL e LCM.

PURPOSE: CD5 is a T cell marker, aberrantly express in B cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). Other chronic B cell malignancies including hairy cell leukemia (HCL) and B cell prolymphocytic leukemia (B-PLL) are CD5 negative or express this antigen in a weak way. In this study, CD5 expression was investigated in leukemic cells from 42 patients with chronic B cell lymphoproliferative disease. METHODS: We studied the CD5 expression in leukemic cells from 42 patients with chronic B-cell malignancies by flow cytometry. Demographic features such as age, sex and clinical date were also analyzed. RESULTS: There were 22 males and 20 females. The immunophenotyping showed that 35 cases were B-CLL, 3 B-PLL and HCL and one patient was MCL. CD5 expression was present in all B-CLL and MCL. Low expression of CD5 was observed in one patient with B-PLL and negative in all cases of HCL. CONCLUSION: Our date demonstrated that CD5 expression can help distinguish among B-CLL from HCL and B-PLL, but is similar expressed in MCL.
