Abstract In early 2020, the pandemic of COVID-19 broke out. As a measure to preserve life, schools were closed indefinitely. Within this new reality, there was the need to adapt some basic and essential activities, such as education. In this sense, the article aims to present the alternatives found by teachers working in early childhood education to develop motor, body, and interpersonal issues with children from zero to five years of age during the period of emergency remote education. The research methodology is qualitative and exploratory in nature. The theory based on the data was the method of analysis of twenty-two questionnaires applied to teachers who worked in this modality during this period. What is the role of the family in the emergent remote teaching? What are the possibilities for movement and corporeality in this new context? What limitations did the pandemic cause in the context of social interactions in early childhood education? From these problematizations, the categories that emerged from the analysis were the interactions and the body movement, as well as the relationship of families with teaching and learning. The results point out that the emergency remote teaching caused a rupture with regard to the structuring axes of early childhood education; reinforced the indispensability of experiences lived through the body and interactions with others; highlighted the need for possible methodologies to re-signify the importance of being present in the school space and the power of affective bonds built in face-to-face meetings.

Resumo No início do ano de 2020, a pandemia de COVID-19 foi deflagrada. Como medida de preservação da vida, as escolas foram fechadas por tempo indeterminado. Dentro dessa nova realidade, houve a necessidade de adaptação de algumas atividades básicas e essenciais, como a educação. Nesse sentido, o artigo objetiva apresentar as alternativas encontradas por docentes atuantes na educação infantil para desenvolver questões motoras, corporais e interpessoais com crianças de zero a cinco anos de idade no período de ensino remoto emergencial. A metodologia da pesquisa é de cunho qualitativo e de caráter exploratório. A teoria fundamentada nos dados foi o método de análise de vinte e dois questionários aplicados a professores que atuaram nessa modalidade nesse período. Qual o papel da família em meio ao ensino remoto emergencial? Quais as possibilidades para o movimento e para a corporeidade nesse novo contexto? Quais limitações a pandemia ocasionou no contexto das interações sociais na educação infantil? A partir dessas problematizações, as categorias que emergiram da análise foram as interações e o movimento corporal, bem como a relação das famílias com o ensino e a aprendizagem. Os resultados apontam que o ensino remoto emergencial ocasionou um rompimento no que se refere aos eixos estruturantes da educação infantil; reforçou a imprescindibilidade das experiências vividas por meio do corpo e das interações com o outro; ressaltou a necessidade de metodologias possíveis para ressignificar a importância de estar presente no espaço da escola e a potência dos vínculos afetivos construídos nos encontros presenciais.

ABSTRACT This research studied the environmental impact of the UASB/anaerobic biofilter system (anaerobic sludge blanket reactor — UASB/ABF) + floating-type constructed wetland (FCW) + vertical flow constructed wetland — microbial fuel cell (FVCW-MFC) + mixed filter with reactive support (MFRS), applied for pilot-scale remediation of urban effluents on a university campus. Scenarios for proposed changes to the settings of the wastewater treatment plant (WTP) were made (Scenarios 2 and 3). The Scenario 1 system was operated in pulses, with the application of 2.9 m3 of university campus effluent per week. Energy required for pumping in the pilot scale unit (Scenario 1) and for potential application with runoff flow (Scenario 2) were inventoried, considering materials for construction and processing, especially with the control of pollutant load in liquid and atmospheric effluents. The SimaPro 8.0.4 software was used, with a functional unit of 2.9 m3 week-1 of effluent and a reference flow of 20 years. The results showed a contribution of 84.8% (in single score — Pt) for the system's construction materials, as well as 15.2% for the operation of the Scenario 2 system, without the use of electricity for pumping. Scenario 3, on the other hand, showed that replacing fiberglass tanks with fiber cement tanks could help reduce environmental impacts during the construction phase of the system by up to 58.6% in terms of energy use and up to 80% in emissions of carcinogenic pollutants.

RESUMO Nesta pesquisa, foi estudado o impacto ambiental do sistema UASB/Biofiltro Anaeróbio (reator anaeróbio de manta de lodo — UASB/BFA) + wetland construído do tipo floating (WCF) + wetland construído de fluxo vertical-célula de combustível microbiana (WCFV-CCM) + filtro misto com suporte reativo (FLR), aplicado para remediação em escala piloto de efluentes urbanos em um campus universitário. Foram feitos cenários de propostas de mudanças das configurações da estação de tratamento de efluente (ETE) (Cenários 2 e 3). O sistema do Cenário 1 foi operado em pulsos, com aplicação de 2,9 m3 de efluente de campus universitário semanalmente. A energia necessária para o bombeamento na unidade em escala piloto (Cenário 1) e para a potencial aplicação com fluxo por escoamento (Cenário 2) foi inventariada, considerando materiais de construção e processamento, especialmente com o controle de carga poluente nos efluentes líquidos e atmosféricos. O software SimaPro 8.0.4 foi utilizado, tendo como unidade funcional 2,9 m3 semana-1 de efluente e fluxo de referência de 20 anos. Os resultados demonstraram que os materiais da construção do sistema contribuíram com 84,8% (em pontuação única — Pt), e a operação do sistema do Cenário 2 contribuiu com 15,2%, sem o uso de energia elétrica para o bombeamento. Já o Cenário 3 mostrou que a substituição dos tanques de fibra de vidro por tanques de fibrocimento poderia ajudar a reduzir os impactos ambientais na fase de construção do sistema em até 58,6% em termos de uso de energia e até 80% nas emissões de poluentes carcinogênicos.

RESUMO Neste estudo foi avaliada a capacidade de produção de carvão por meio de resíduos classe II A aterrados em uma fundação de proteção ambiental na região central do estado do Rio Grande do Sul. As amostras foram compostas (em proporção massa/massa) de 40% plástico, 25% papel/papelão, 25% espumas e borrachas sintéticas e 10% tecido de algodão e tripas de celulose. Empregou-se técnica de pirólise de baixa temperatura (350°C) com uma rampa de aquecimento de 2,70°C min-1 e tempo de residência de 30 minutos. Os experimentos foram feitos com e sem catalisador, sendo 25% de catalisador constituído de argila vermelha. Nas amostras brutas e pirolisadas foram avaliados o poder calorífico inferior (PCI), o poder calorífico superior (PCS) e o poder calorífico útil (PCU). Nas mesmas amostras também se caracterizaram carbono orgânico, teor de cinzas, cloretos, bem como alumínio, antimônio, bário, cádmio, cálcio, chumbo, cobalto, cobre, cromo total, ferro, magnésio, manganês, níquel, potássio, prata, sódio e zinco. As amostras pirolisadas com catalisador apresentaram valores de PCU de 5.473 kcal kg-1, tendo característica interessante para geração de energia, porém a presença de metais pesados, especialmente Ni e Cr, merece atenção quanto ao uso como combustível. A potencialidade para formulação de adubos também é crítica, sendo discutida na presente pesquisa.

ABSTRACT In this study, the capacity to produce coal from Class IIA residues landed in an Environmental Protection Foundation in the central region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul was evaluated. The samples were composed (in mass/mass ratio) of 40% plastic, 25% paper/cardboard, 25% foam and synthetic rubbers, and 10% cotton fabric and cellulose casings. Low temperature (350°C) pyrolysis technique was used with a heating ramp of 2.70°C min-1 and a residence time of 30 minutes. The experiments were done with and without catalyst, with 25% catalyst, consisting of red clay. In the pre-crude and pyrolysates, the Lower Calorific Power (LCP), the Higher Calorific Power (HCP), and the Useful Calorific Power (UCP) were obtained. The samples also characterized organic carbon, ash content, chlorides, as well as aluminum, antimony, barium, cadmium, calcium, lead, cobalt, copper, total chromium, iron, magnesium, manganese, nickel, potassium, silver, sodium, and zinc. Pyrolyzed samples with catalyst showed PCU values of 5,473 kcal kg-1, having an interesting characteristic for energy generation. However, the presence of heavy metals, especially Ni and Cr, deserves attention regarding their use as fuel. The potential for fertilizer information is also critical, being discussed in this research.

RESUMO: Problemas respiratórios devido a corpos estranhos (CEs) traqueobrônquicos são incomuns em equinos, embora cavalos em pastagem possam eventualmente aspirar CEs, como galhos de Araucaria angustifolia. Um potro Crioulo, 1,5 anos, apresentou hemoptise, dispneia, inquietação e temperatura retal de 40,9 ºC. O hemograma revelou intensa neutropenia, monocitose, trombocitopenia e hipoproteinemia. O tratamento foi realizado, mas sem sucesso. Na cavidade torácica, foi observada grande quantidade de líquido avermelhado livre (hemotórax). Os pulmões estavam difusamente consolidados, predominantemente cranioventral e com discreta deposição de fibrina sobre a superfície pleural. O brônquio principal direito estava obliterado por um ramo de pinheiro de Araucaria angustifolia com 18 cm de comprimento. Microscopicamente, notou-se necrose de coagulação pulmonar difusa com hemorragia severa, infiltrado inflamatório neutrofílico marcado, numerosos agregados bacterianos cocoides e pleurite fibrinosa. Fragmentos de pulmão foram submetidos ao isolamento bacteriológico e abundante crescimento misto com predominância de Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus foi observado. A inalação de grimpas de pinheiro não é comumente relatada em equinos, mas deve ser incluída nos diagnósticos diferenciais de pneumonia e deve-se ter atenção ao introduzir cavalos no campo com a presença da planta.

ABSTRACT: Respiratory problems due to tracheobronchial foreign bodies (FBs) are unusual in horses; although equines kept in pastures eventually inhale FBs, as conifer twigs of Araucaria angustifolia. A 1,5-year-old Criolle foal was presented with hemoptysis, dyspnea, restlessness and fever (40.9 ºC rectal temperature). Complete blood count showed intense neutropenia, monocytosis, thrombocytopenia and hypoproteinemia. Treatment was carried out but no clinical improvement was observed. At the post-mortem examination, marked amount of dark red liquid was observed in the thoracic cavity (hemothorax). The lung parenchyma was diffusely consolidated, predominantly in the cranioventral area, associated with mild pleural fibrin deposition. The right primary bronchus was obliterated by a Araucaria angustifolia pine branch measuring 18 cm in length, with adjacent darkened areas (lung consolidation). Microscopically, there was diffuse necrosis with severe hemorrhage in the lungs, associated with marked neutrophilic inflammatory infiltrate, numerous coccoid bacterial aggregates, and fibrinous pleuritis. Additionally, there was diffuse alveolar edema and multifocal thrombosis. Lung fragments were submitted for bacterial culture and mixed bacterial growth was observed with a predominance of Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus. Inhalation of branches is not commonly reported in horses, but it must be included in the differential diagnoses of pneumonia, and attention should be taken when allowing horses to graze in areas where the plant occurs.

Abstract With worldwide recognition of the açaí berry as a source of nutrients and promising raw material, its residues/co-products such as peels and seeds have become an environmental problem. The present work aimed to characterize the pulp residue (peel + pulp), fresh dreg, and respective flour, as well as the seed and respective flour. The fractions were analyzed for physical, chemical, technological parameters, antinutritional compounds, and antioxidant profiles. The results showed that the peel + pulp is a source of lipids, soluble and insoluble fiber, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and antioxidants. The fresh dreg is a source of insoluble fiber; dreg flour is a source of carbohydrates and insoluble fiber; the seed and its respective flour are sources of carbohydrates, insoluble and soluble fiber, contain phytic acid, condensed tannins, and antioxidants. Such results demonstrate the possibility of incorporating these co-products in food formulations, besides enabling an efficient destination for these agribusiness residues.

RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar os óbitos causados por câncer ocular durante os anos de 2010 a 2019 no Brasil. Métodos: Os dados foram selecionados na plataforma do Departamento de Informática do SUS do Ministério da Saúde, incluindo declarações de óbito, durante os anos de 2010 a 2019, de todos os estados brasileiros e do Distrito Federal, filtrando os códigos C69.0 a C69.9 como causa básica de óbito, de acordo com a Classificação Internacional de Doenças e Problemas Relacionados à Saúde – 10ᵃ Revisão. Resultados: Houve 1.859 óbitos por neoplasia maligna de olho e anexos (C69), no Brasil, no período de 2010 a 2019, acometendo 1.062 (57,1%) homens. O sítio da neoplasia não foi especificado (C69.9) em 719 casos, representando a etiologia mais frequente no grupo C69 (38,67%). A neoplasia maligna da órbita (C69.6) foi a segunda causa mais comum de óbito (22,59%), seguida pela neoplasia maligna da retina (C69.2) (14,73%). Conclusão: O número de óbitos por neoplasia maligna de olho e anexos aumentou discretamente ao longo dos anos de 2010 a 2019, no Brasil.

ABSTRACT Objective: To assess the deaths caused by eye cancer from 2010 to 2019 in Brazil. Methods: Data were selected from SUS’ Computer Department platform at the Ministry of Health, including death certificates, from 2010 to 2019, from all Brazilian states and the Federal District, filtering the codes C69.0 to C69.9 as the cause of death, according to the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision. Results: There were 1,859 deaths from malignant neoplasm of eye and adnexa (C69), in Brazil, from 2010 to 2019, affecting 1,062 (57.1%) men. The site of neoplasm was unspecified (C69.9) in 719 cases, representing the most frequent etiology in the C69 group (38.67%). The malignant neoplasm of the orbit (C69.6) was the second most common cause of death (22.59%), followed by malignant neoplasm of retina (C69.2) (14.73%). Conclusion: The number of deaths due to malignant neoplasm of eye and adnexa slightly increased through the years of 2010 to 2019, in Brazil.

Resumo Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a eficácia das células-tronco mesenquimais (CTMs), isoladas ou associadas à dapsona (DAP), no tratamento de feridas dermonecróticas causadas pelo veneno de Loxosceles laeta. Vinte e cinco coelhos machos foram distribuídos em cinco grupos. O controle negativo recebeu água ultrapura (C-), enquanto todos os outros grupos foram injetados com 20 μg de veneno de L. laeta. Após 4 horas, cada grupo recebeu um dos seguintes tratamentos: PBS (C+), DAP, CTMs e DAP + CTMs. Os animais foram avaliados diariamente durante 12 dias, e feitos registros fotográficos para análise da ferida e no 12º dia, foram eutanasiados e, retiradas amostras de pele para análise histológica. Observou-se que a DAP apresentou o melhor percentual de contração da ferida no terceiro dia. Nos tratamentos com CTMs, observou-se uma contração negativa da ferida tanto para as CTMs isoladas, bem como a associação CTMs + DAP em relação ao PBS, possivelmente, pelo aumento da infamação inicial após a aplicação de células-tronco. Isso é devido ao fato de que as CTMs secretam um amplo espectro de moléculas bioativas como citocinas e fatores de crescimento que favorecem a regeneração. Histologicamente, observou-se que os animais de C+ apresentaram extensas áreas de necrose, úlceras, infiltrado neutrofílico, além de mineralização. Houve aumento de deposição de colágeno no tratamento CTMs + DAP, no entanto, a vascularização permaneceu inalterada. Este é o primeiro relato usando CTMs e CTMs + DAP como tratamento para loxoscelismo cutâneo e mais estudos são necessários para determinar seu uso como terapia alternativa para lesões demonecróticas causadas pela aranha Loxosceles.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), alone or associated with dapsone (DAP), in treating dermonecrotic wounds caused by Loxosceles laeta venom. Twenty-five male rabbits were distributed into five groups. Negative control received ultrapure water (C-), whilst all other groups were injected with 20 μg of L. laeta venom. After 4 hours, each group received one of the following treatments: PBS (C+), DAP, MSC, and DAP+MSC. Animals were evaluated daily and photographic records made for analysis of wound area. Twelve days after, animals were euthanized and skin samples removed for histological analysis. We observed that DAP showed the best percentage of wound contraction at day 3. In the treatments using MSCs, a negative value of wound contraction was observed for the isolated MSCs, as well as a lower contraction value for the association of the MSC + DAP when compared to PBS, probably, by the increase in initial infammation after the application of stem cells, due to the fact that MSCs secrete a broad spectrum of bioactive molecules such as cytokines and growth factors that favor regeneration. Histologically, it was observed that animals of C+ showed extensive areas of necrosis, ulcers, neutrophilic infiltrate, and mineralization. Collagen deposition showed increase in MSC+DAP treatment, however vascularization remained unchanged. This is the first report using MSC and MSC+DAP as a treatment for cutaneous loxoscelism and more studies are needed to determine its use as an alternative therapy for dermonecrotic lesions caused by Loxosceles spider.

ABSTRACT Objectives Yacon flour is rich in bioactive compounds (phenolic compounds and fructooligosaccharides (FOS)), and may therefore reduce the risk of diseases associated with excess body weight. However, its effect on fecal short chain fatty acids (SCFA), intestinal permeability, oxidative stress and inflammation markers has not been studied in adult humans with excess body weight. Thus, we evaluated the effect of the consumption of yacon flour on these variables. Materials and methods Twenty-six excess body weight (30.4 ± 2.4 kg/m2) adults (31.3 ± 8.5y) were randomized to one of two groups (yacon flour or control; n = 13) on a double blind clinical trial. Subjects received a breakfast drink containing or not yacon flour (25g) associated with an energy restricted diet, for six weeks. The flour chemical characterization, FOS and total phenolics contents were evaluated. Antioxidant capacity was evaluated in vitro and in vivo (plasma). Intestinal permeability, fecal SCFA, oxidative stress and inflammatory markers also were evaluated in vivo. Results Yacon flour was well tolerated. It presented an in vitro and in vivo antioxidant capacity, increased plasma total antioxidant capacity (ΔYAC: 49.16 (-4.20; 156.63)) and reduced protein carbonyl concentrations (ΔYAC: -0.98 (-1.54; -0.42)). A reduction in SCFAs was observed in both groups (Δacetic: -3.16 (-5.07; -0.95) vs. -1.05 (-2.65; 1.11); Δpropionic: -1.05 (-2.60;-0.38) vs. -0.41 (-2.08; 0.09); Δbutyric: -0.75 (-1.38; -0.04) vs. -0.28 (-0.98; 0.11), for YAC and CON, respectively). Other variables did not change. Conclusion The yacon flour increased the plasma antioxidant capacity, decreased oxidative stress and SCFAs in adults with obesity or overweight.

Resumo Introdução: As evidências de prováveis efeitos de otite média com efusão precoce no proces-samento auditivo central, ressaltam a necessidade de se considerar tais efeitos também em sujeitos com otite média crônica. Objetivo: Investigar e analisar o impacto da otite média crônica não colesteatomatosa no processamento auditivo central em adolescentes. Método: Estudo para o qual foram recrutados 68 adolescentes, 34 com diagnóstico de otite média crônica não colesteatomatosa (grupo de estudo) e 34 sem história otológica (grupo controle). A avaliação dos indivíduos consistiu de: anamnese, audiometria do limiar auditivo para tons puros, audiometria vocal e bateria de testes comportamentais para avaliação do processamento auditivo central. Resultados: Foi encontrada uma diferença estatisticamente significante entre as médias observadas nos grupos de estudo e controle em todos os testes. Foi encontrada uma associação entre o grupo controle e os subgrupos do grupo de estudo com alterações unilaterais em todos os testes. Houve associação entre os resultados dos grupos controle e de estudo para a renda familiar, com maior impacto nos indivíduos com menor renda. Conclusões: A otite média crônica não colesteatomatosa afeta o processamento auditivo central em adolescentes, a audição monoaural de baixa redundância é o mecanismo auditivo mais afetado. Alterações condutivas unilaterais causam mais danos do que as bilaterais e a menor renda familiar parece conduzir a mais alterações no processamento auditivo central de indivíduos com otite média crônica não colesteatomatosa.

Abstract Introduction: Evidences of possible effects of early age otitis media with effusion in the central auditory processing, emphasize the need to consider such effects also in subjects with chronic otitis media. Aim: To investigate and analyze the impact of non-cholesteatomatous chronic otitis media on central auditory processing in teenagers. Methods: This is a study in which 68 teenagers were recruited, 34 with a diagnosis of non-cholesteatomatous chronic otitis media (study group) and 34 without otological disease history (control group). The evaluation of the subjects consisted of: anamnesis, pure-tone threshold audiometry, speech audiometry and a behavioral test battery for assessment of central auditory processing. Results: A statistically significant difference was found between the means observed in the study and control groups in all tests performed. An association was found between the control group and subgroups of the study group with unilateral alterations in all tests. An association was shown between the results for the control group and study group for family income, with a greater impact on subjects with a lower income. Conclusions: Non-cholesteatomatous chronic otitis media affects the central auditory processing in teenagers suffering from the disorder, and monaural low-redundancy hearing is the most affected auditory mechanism. Unilateral conductive changes cause more damage than bilateral ones, and lower family income seems to lead to more changes to the central auditory processing of subjects with non-cholesteatomatous chronic otitis media.

ABSTRACT Tree-level growth models are being more used in heterogeneous forests, for they can take underlying processes, such as competition, into account. Although it is common in the forest literature to test several indices in order to define the most suitable for each study, the evaluation of plot sizes or competition radii is poorly addressed in competition studies. The objective of this work was to assess the effect of different plot sizes and competitor selection radii on distance-independent and distance-dependent competition indices, as well as test several modifications in previously created indices. We used data of diameter, canopy stratum and crown quality from two stem mapped measurements carried out in a six-year period. Both distance-dependent and independent indices were calculated for different plot sizes and competitor selection radii. The performance of plot sizes and neighborhood radii was evaluated via Spearman’s rank correlation with the annual growth in diameter, and those with the largest correlation coefficient were included in a stepwise regression to estimate diameter growth. For almost all the indices the correlation increased as the plot size or radius increased. A 50 m x 50 m square plot generated the strongest correlation for distance-independent indices. A 20 m radius resulted the largest correlation for the distancedependent indices. Modifications in some of the indices also improved their performance. The stepwise regression selected BAL and Hegyi indices to describe the diameter growth, which means that using only one competition index might not be enough to fully explain the overall competition.

ABSTRACT Objective to examine the practice of having a companion present during childbirth. Method this cross-sectional study was conducted with 586 postpartum women at a university hospital. Data were collected, from February to September, 2016, using structured questionnaires, patient medical charts and antenatal records, and were analysed using Chi-square and Cochran’s Tests. Results 86% had a companion present. Being informed of the right to a companion was more frequent in the Obstetric Center and Obstetric Ward. No significant relationship was found between knowledge of the Companion Law and number of antenatal consultations. Companions were present least often in the postpartum recovery room, due to absence of the companion and to permission not being given. Companions were most often the women’s partners. No significant relation was found between the presence of a companion and analgesia, delivery type or Apgar. Conclusion understanding the benefits of having a companion is paramount, as are incentives and encouragement for implementing evidence-based practices.

RESUMEN Objetivo analizar la práctica de la presencia del acompañante durante el proceso de parto. Método estudio transversal, desarrollado en un hospital universitario con 586 puérperas. Para la recolección de datos, se utilizaron un cuestionario estructurado, un registro médico y libreta prenatal, en el período de febrero a septiembre de 2016. Para el análisis, se utilizaron Pruebas Chi-cuadrado y de Cochran's. Resultados el 86% tuvo acompañante. La información sobre el derecho del acompañante fue más frecuente en el Centro Obstétrico e Internación Obstétrica. No hubo relación significativa entre el conocimiento de la Ley del Acompañante y el número de consultas prenatal. El sitio que presentó menor frecuencia de acompañante fue la sala de recuperación postparto, debido a la ausencia del acompañante y al no permiso. El compañero fue el acompañante más frecuente. No hubo significancia en cuanto a la presencia del acompañante y la realización de analgesia, el tipo de parto y el Apgar. Conclusión la comprensión de los beneficios del acompañante es primordial, así como el incentivo y estímulo a la implementación de prácticas basadas en evidencias.

RESUMO Objetivo analisar a prática da presença do acompanhante durante o processo de parturição. Método estudo transversal, desenvolvido em hospital universitário com 586 puérperas. Para a coleta de dados, utilizaram-se questionário estruturado, prontuário e carteira pré-natal, no período de fevereiro a setembro de 2016. Para análise, utilizaram-se os Testes Qui-quadrado e de Cochran’s. Resultados 86% tiveram acompanhante. A informação sobre o direito do acompanhante foi mais frequente no Centro Obstétrico e Internação Obstétrica. Não houve relação significativa entre o conhecimento da Lei de Acompanhante e o número de consultas pré-natal. Onde houve menor frequência de acompanhante foi na sala de recuperação pós-parto, devido à ausência do acompanhante e à não permissão. O companheiro foi o acompanhante mais frequente. Não houve significância quanto à presença do acompanhante e realização de analgesia, o tipo de parto e o Apgar. Conclusão a compreensão dos benefícios do acompanhante é primordial, bem como o incentivo e estímulo para a implementação de práticas baseadas em evidências.

RESUMO Objetivos Analisar as publicações científicas sobre audição em indivíduos com osteogênese imperfeita. Estratégias de pesquisa Trata-se de revisão sistemática de literatura. Foram selecionados os descritores Hearing OR Hearing Loss AND Osteogenesis Imperfecta. Duas revisoras consultaram as bases de dados Cochrane Library, PubMed, LILACS, Scopus e Embase. Critérios de seleção utilizaram-se os Descritores em Ciências da Saúde, não sendo delimitado período de publicação dos estudos. Foram critérios de inclusão estudos de coorte, seguimento, transversais, casos controle e em idioma inglês. Foram critérios de exclusão artigos editoriais, relatos/séries de casos, resumos de eventos e estudos conduzidos em animais. Os estudos selecionados foram analisados pela Iniciativa STROBE e pelo Sistema GRADE. Resultados Dos 652 estudos obtidos, foram selecionados 16. A perda auditiva do tipo condutiva foi o tipo mais comum na população com osteogênese imperfeita (OI) e seu início ocorre por volta da segunda década de vida. A definição e a classificação para aferição de perda auditiva, nas publicações com a população com osteogênese imperfeita, apresentaram discordância entre os estudos. Conclusão Esta revisão respondeu às perguntas a que se propôs, constatando que as alterações audiológicas encontradas em pacientes com OI são do tipo condutivo, neurossensorial e misto. Alterações condutivas são mais comuns em pacientes mais jovens e alterações neurossensoriais, em pacientes mais velhos. A Iniciativa STROBE apontou itens descritos de forma parcial e o Sistema GRADE concluiu que os estudos apresentaram alguma falha metodológica.

ABSTRACT Purpose To analyze scientific publications on the hearing issue of patients with osteogenesis imperfecta. Reserch strategy This study is a systematic literature review. The following descriptors were selected “Hearing” OR “Hearing Loss” AND “Osteogenesis Imperfecta”. Two reviewers searched the Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Scopus and Embase databases. Selection criteria Descriptors in Health Sciences were used and the publication period of studies was not limited. Inclusion criteria were cohort, follow-up, cross-sectional, and control studies in English language. Exclusion criteria were editorial articles, case reports, case summaries, and animal studies. Selected studies were analyzed by the STROBE Initiative and the GRADE System. Results Of the 652 studies, 16 were selected. Conductive hearing loss is the most common type in the osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) population and its onset is around the second decade of life. Definition and classification for hearing loss measurement in publications with the osteogenesis imperfecta population present disparities among studies. Conclusion This review met the objectives proposed, concluding that audiological alterations found in OI patients are of conductive, sensorineural and mixed types; conductive alterations are more common in younger patients and sensorineural alterations in older ones. The STROBE initiative partially pointed out described items and the GRADE system concluded that studies present some methodological failure.

Abstract INTRODUCTION The relationships between phagocytosis, and mucoid phenotype, plasmid profile and virulence, and resistance genetic characteristics of Klebsiella pneumoniae clinical isolates were evaluated. METHODS Thirty isolates were used to determine the mucoid aspect. Four were selected for analysis of phagocytosis by alveolar macrophages. RESULTS Thirty percent of the samples presented the mucoid phenotype. The phagocytosis rate ranged from 21.5% to 43.43%. Phagocytosis was not correlated with the plasmid profile, but was apparently correlated with mucoid phenotype and antibiotic susceptibility. CONCLUSIONS: Several virulence factors act in parallel in K. pneumoniae to impair host defense.

RESUMO O presente trabalho avalia os efeitos da adição de glicerol sobre a porosidade e resistência mecânica de um material cerâmico. As amostras foram compactadas por prensagem uniaxial e submetidas a temperaturas de queima de 950 °C e 1100 °C, com taxa de aquecimento de 7 °C min-1. Foram realizados ensaios físicos e mecânicos para analisar porosidade aparente, absorção de água, retração linear e resistência mecânica a flexão. Os resultados mostram que a adição de 10% de glicerol à argila melhora principalmente suas propriedades mecânicas, podendo ser um aditivo promissor para gerar materiais cerâmicos estruturais com microestrutura mais resistente.

ABSTRACT The present work evaluates the effects of the glycerol addition on the porosity and mechanical resistance of a ceramic material. Samples were compacted by uniaxial pressing and were submitted to different sintering temperatures, 950 °C and 1100° C, with a heating rate of 7 °C min-1. Physical and mechanical analysis were performed to evaluate porosity, water absorption and linear retraction. The results show that the addition of 10% of glycerol into the clay mainly improves its mechanical properties, being able to be a promising additive to generate structural materials with more resistant microstructure.

O texto versa sobre as pinturas recentes da artista Adriane Hernandez que apresentam composições formadas pela imagem de plantas, folhas e pássaros atravessados por padrões reticulados em xadrez que costumam figurar em toalhas de mesa. Indaga-se sobre possíveis motivações para os acontecimentos pictóricos descritos nele, propondo que a sua presença é proveniente de uma especulação e de uma trajetória que partiu da pintura, visitou os objetos físicos e a fotografia para depois retornar à pintura.

The text deals with the recent paintings by the artist Adriane Hernandez that present compositions formed by the image of plants, leaves and birds crossed by reticulated patterns in chess that usually appear in tablecloths. He speculates on possible meanings and motivations for the pictorial events described in him, proposing that his presence comes from a speculation and a trajectory that departed from the painting, visited the physical objects and the photography to return to the painting.
