RESUMO O Tumor Odontogênico Adenomatóide é um tumor benigno, não invasivo e de crescimento lento. Acomete principalmente mulheres jovens, na região anterior da maxila, causando na maioria das vezes deslocamento radicular e raramente reabsorção. Por ser assintomática, essa lesão é geralmente descoberta em exames radiográficos de rotina, no qual se observa na maioria dos casos uma imagem radiolúcida unilocular, podendo apresentar algum grau de calcificação no interior da lesão. Este trabalho tem como objetivo relatar o caso clínico de um paciente de 14 anos, gênero feminino, que compareceu ao Hospital Universitário Lauro Wanderley - Universidade Federal da Paraíba, com queixa de aumento de volume de 8 meses de evolução, em região de elemento 21 não vital. Ao exame tomográfico observou-se lesão radiolúcida, unilocular, bem delimitada, com reabsorção da cortical vestibular. O plano de tratamento proposto foi a enucleação seguida de ostectomia periférica e enxerto ósseo com material aloplásico. A análise histopatológica confirmou o diagnóstico de Tumor Odontogênico Adenomatóide. Após sete meses observa-se nova formação óssea e sem sinais de recidiva.

ABSTRACT The adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is a benign, non-invasive tumor and has a slow growth. Its preferred location is the anterior maxillary area, most often causing root displacement, more rarely resorption and mostly affects young women. Being asymptomatic, this injury is discovered upon routine radiographic examination, in which, in most cases, a unilocular, radiolucent image is observed and it may have some degree of calcification within the lesion. This work aims to report the case of a 14-year-old patient who attended the Lauro Wanderley University Hospital (UFPB), complaining of increased volume over a period of 8 months, in the region of non-vital tooth 21. The CT scan showed well-delimited unilocular, radiolucent lesion, with buccal cortex resorption. The proposed treatment plan involved enucleation, followed by peripheral ostectomy and bone graft with alloplastic materials. Because of its benign character, encapsulated and slow growing, the treatment of choice for adenomatoid odontogenic tumor is conservative, the surgical enucleation of the injury being advocated. The excised piece was sent for histopathological analysis, where the AOT diagnosis was confirmed. After 7 months, new bone formation was observed without signs of recurrence.

Amongst the many parts of a silicon cells photovoltaic module, silicon is the most important and expensive constituent. Thus, research on silicon recycling from damaged cells can lead to economic and environmental benefits. In this work, the broken silicon cells were tailored to function along with the fluorine-doped tin oxide as the transparent electric conductors. The broken silicon cells were analyzed by the current density versus voltage plots, together with the Mott-Schottky, X-rays diffraction and fluorescence analysis. Under light, the damaged cells sandwiched between the two transparent electric conductors presented photovoltaic effect. However, such effect was not obtained after the removal of the antireflection layer due to the destruction of the n-type layer as demonstrated by the Mott-Schottky analysis. The X-rays diffraction revealed samples rich on silicon atoms and the presence of aluminum atoms as impurity.

RESUMO A eletrodeposição tem sido empregada para a obtenção de materiais semicondutores; todavia, ainda não estão bem esclarecidos os mecanismos envolvidos neste processo. Neste sentido, este trabalho apresenta a investigação deste processo, evidenciando a caracterização do CdTe eletrodepositado sobre substrato platina em solução ácida. A deposição ocorre a partir de 0,0 V, em relação ao eletrodo Ag/AgCl,KClsat, com etapas de controle ativado e de difusão. Os filmes finos de CdTe foram eletrodepositados sobre o substrato de platina a temperatura ambiente (~24°C) a partir de uma solução ácida. A influência do potencial aplicado foi investigada utilizando técnicas de caracterização de superfície, como a difração de raios X e Microscopia eletrônica de varredura. A caracterização elétrica foi realizada por medidas de capacitância (Mott-Schottky). Os filmes finos de CdTe apresentaram pico de maior intensidade no plano (220), demostrando ter um crescimento preferencial para esse plano. Os filmes apresentam uma morfologia granular influenciado pelo potencial de deposição e uma condutividade característica de um semicondutor tipo n.

ABSTRACT The electrodeposition has been used for obtaining semiconductor materials; however, remain unclear the mechanisms involved in this process. Thus, this paper presents the research of this process, showing the characterization of electrodeposited CdTe on platinum substrate in acid solution. The deposition occurs from 0.0 V relative to the electrode Ag/AgCl KClsat with step activated control and diffusion. The thin film of CdTe was electrodeposited on the platinum substrate at room temperature (~ 24 ° C) from an acidic solution. The influence of the applied potential was investigated using surface characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction analyses and scanning electron microscopy. The electrical properties of the films were performed capacitance measurements (Mott-Schottky plot). The thin CdTe films presented the prominent (220) planes, showing have a preferential growth in that plane. The films show a granular morphology influenced by deposition potential and property of an n-type semiconductor.

O aumento da incidência das infecções fúngicas, bem como o registro crescente de resistência e falha terapêutica, têm impulsionado a realização de estudos de prospecção de fitoquímicos com propriedades antifúngicas. Diante do exposto, o presente estudo investigou o potencial antifúngico de extratos de Baccharis ligustrina, B. schultzii, Croton jacobinensis, Licania rigida, Moringa oleifera, Vernonia sp. e V. brasiliana, e de óleos essenciais de Lippia alba (Quimiotipos 1, 2, 3 e 4) e Ocimum gratissimum. Inicialmente, foi realizada uma avaliação qualitativa da atividade antifúngica de cada amostra por meio do método de difusão em ágar, frente a cepas de Candida albicans e Microsporum canis, mostrando que apenas os extratos de M. oleifera (MLF-C) e Vernonia sp. (TVS-H) apresentaram atividade frente a C. albicans e M. canis, com halos de inibição =10mm. Também foram determinadas a concentração inibitória mínima (CIM), frente a 12 cepas de C. albicans e M. canis, e a toxicidade aguda de MLF-C e TVS-H, através de protocolos do Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) e ensaio com Artemia sp., respectivamente. A CIM (80%) de MLF-C e TVS-H variou de 0,156 a 2,5mg mL-1 frente C. albicans e de 0,039 a 1,25 e 0,039 a 0,625mg mL-1 para M. canis, respectivamente. A CIM (100%) de MLF-C e TVS-H variou de 0,625 a 2,5mg mL-1 frente C. albicans é de 0,039 a 2,5 e 0,078 a 1,25mg mL-1 para M. canis, respectivamente. As doses letais (DL50) para o MLF-C e TVS-H foram de 201,09 e 204,17mg mL-1, respectivamente, sendo, portanto, demonstrada a baixa toxicidade desses extratos. Os extratos de M. oileifera e Vernonia sp. apresentaram atividade antifúngica frente cepas de C. albicans e M. canis, abrindo a perspectiva de estudos para caracterização dos seus componentes bioativos.

The increase in the incidence of fungal infections and the frequent report of resistance and therapeutic failure has promoted the performance of phytochemical screening for compounds with antifungal properties. Based on this, the present study investigated the antifungal potential of extracts of Baccharis ligustrina, B. schultzii, Croton jacobinensis, Licania rigida, Moringa oleifera, Vernonia sp. and V. brasiliana and of essential oils of Lippia alba (Chemotypes 1, 2, 3 and 4) and Ocimum gratissimum. Initially, a qualitative evaluation of the antifungal activity of each vegetal sample against strains of Candida albicans and Microsporum canis, through the agar diffusion method, was performed. Extracts of M. oleifera (MLF-C) and Vernonia sp. (TVS-H) presented activity against C. albicans and M. canis with inhibition halos =10mm. Then, minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) for MLF-C and TVS-H against 12 strains of C. albicans and M. canis were determined through the methodology established by the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), and acute toxicity tests against Artemia sp. were performed for both extracts. MICs (80%) for MLF-C and TVS-H varied from 0.156 to 2.5mg mL-1 against C. albicans and from 0.039 to 1.25mg mL-1 and 0.039 to 0.625mg mL-1 against M. canis, respectively. MICs (100%) for MLF-C and TVS-H varied from 0.625 to 2.5mg mL-1 for C. albicans and from 0.039 to 2.5mg mL-1 and 0.078 to 1.25mg mL-1 against M. canis, respectively. Lethal doses (DL50) of MLF-C and TVS-H were 201.09 and 204.17mg mL-1, respectively, being, therefore, demonstrated the low toxicity of these extracts. M. oleifera and Vernonia sp. extracts presented in vitro antifungal activity against C. albicans and M. canis, creating perspectives for the development of studies on the characterizations of their bioactive components.

INTRODUÇÃO: O uso de fitoterápicos na cicatrização de feridas cirúrgicas tem sido incrementado nos últimos anos com a busca de princípios ativos que desempenhe efetivo papel neste processo acelerando a recuperação cirúrgica. OBJETIVO: Avaliar os aspectos morfológicos do processo cicatricial de feridas cutâneas abertas de ratos com uso do extrato bruto de Jatropha gossypiifolia L. MÉTODOS: Utilizaram-se 60 ratos da linhagem Wistar. Em cada animal foi realizada uma ferida de 2 cm de diâmetro na região dorsal. Os animais foram distribuídos em dois grupos de 30: grupo Controle - sem tratamento e grupo Jatropha - aplicação de extrato bruto de Jatropha gossypiifolia L. Cada grupo foi subdividido em três subgrupos de 10 animais e avaliados no 7º, 14º e 21º dias do pós-operatório. Realizou-se estudo comparativo entre os dois grupos através da análise macroscópica, a planigrafia digital e análise histológica tendo como parâmetro a proliferação vascular, polimorfonucleares, mononucleares, proliferação fibroblástica, colagenização e reepitelização. RESULTADOS: Na evolução da ferida cutânea tanto no grupo controle como no grupo Jatropha houve exsudação plasmática com formação de crostas superficiais até o 7º dia. A partir dai houve espessamento da crosta e no 14º dia a crosta se destacou, evoluindo para tecido de granulação e epitelização completa no 21º dia com surgimento de novos pelos ao redor da lesão, em todos os animais. Houve ausência significativa da inflamação aguda no 21º dia pós-operatório do grupo Jatropha. Houve diferença significativa na intensidade da inflamação crônica, sendo mais intensa no 7º dia no grupo controle. A proliferação fibroblástica foi mais acentuada no 7º dia pós-operatório do grupo Jatropha, sendo semelhante no 14º e 21º dias pós-operatórios nos demais. A colagenização foi maior no 7º e 14º dias no grupo Jatropha. A re-epitelização foi significativamente melhor no 7º dia do grupo Jatropha. CONCLUSÃO: Embora mostrando melhora histológica com o uso da Jatropha, não ocorreu diferença significativa entre os grupos nas variáveis analisadas, na cicatrização das feridas cutânea de ratos ao término da avaliação.

INTRODUCTION: Phytotherapy is one of the research branches in the healing process of surgical wounds. PURPOSE: To analyze the morphological aspects of the healing process occurring in open skin lesions in rats under administration of raw extract from Jatropha Gossypiifolia L. METHOD: Sixty Wistar rats were utilized. A 2cm wound in diameter was done in each animal at the dorsal region. The animals were divided into two groups, each one consisting of 30 animals. Each group was subdivided into three subgroups of ten. They were analyzed in the 7th, 14th and 21st post-operative day. The two groups were compared through macroscopic analysis using digital planigraphy and histological examination. The microscopic parameters considered were the vascular proliferation, polymorph and mononuclear cells, fibroblastic proliferation, collagen and epithelium formation. RESULTS: Epitelization occurred in a same amount in all animals. There was no chronic inflamation on 21st day in the Jatropha group and also no difference in polimorphonuclear cells between the groups. The fibroblastic reaction was better on the 7th day in the Jatropha group and equal in the remaining ones. Colagenization was greater on 7th and 14th days in Jatropha and better re-epitelization occurred in the same group in the 7th day. CONCLUSION: Although with hystologic aspects favoring the Jatropha, no significant differences concerning to the macroscopic and microscopic aspects were observed among the skin wounds receiving raw extract Jatropha and those that received no treatment in the final evaluation.
