Ishaemum rugosum é uma das invasoras mais importantes na cultura do arroz irrigado no Estado do Maranhão. O objetivo deste trabalho foi quantificar o teor de nitrogênio em folhas, colmos e raízes de I. rugosum sob três níveis de sombreamento (10, 60 e 70%), determinados aos 91 e 112 dias após emergência (DAE) e, nas panículas, aos 133 DAE. O teor de nitrogênio em folhas, colmos, raízes e panículas foram mais elevados no tratamento sob 70% de sombreamento do que naqueles submetidos a 60 e 10% de sombreamento. Todavia, nas partes vegetativas, o maior teor de nitrogênio foi verificado nas plantas coletadas aos 91 DAE. Concluiu-se que de sombreamento aumentou o teor de nitrogênio na planta.

Ishaemum rugosum is one of the most important weeds in irrigated rice in the state of Maranhão, Brazil. An experiment was conducted to evaluate the nitrogen content in the leaf, stem and root of I. rugosum under three levels of shading (10, 60 and 70%) at 91 and 112 days after emergence and in the panicle at 133 DAE. Nitrogen levels were greater in the leaf, stem, roots and panicles at 70% of shading compared to either 60 or 10% shading. However, vegetative parts of the rice plants showed greater nitrogen content at 91 DAE. It was concluded that shading increased nitrogen content of plants os I. rugosum.
