Resumo Em sistemas florestais, a forma natural de aporte de nutrientes se dá através da serapilheira, a qual compreende todo material vegetal depositado ao solo. Logo, vista a importância do tema, o presente trabalho objetivou realizar uma revisão sistemática sobre as diferentes metodologias utilizadas na temática da serapilheira e ciclagem de nutrientes nas diversas fitofisionomias do bioma Cerrado. Foram avaliadas todas as publicações, independentemente do período de publicação, e catalogadas as que se enquadraram na temática: quantificação da produção e decomposição da serapilheira no bioma Cerrado, por meio de buscas no portal periódicos CAPES. Foram selecionados 26 artigos com estudos nas seguintes formações florestais: Cerrado sentido restrito; Cerradão; Matas de Galeria; Florestas de transição Cerrado-Amazônia e plantios homogêneos. A respeito das metodologias, os coletores mais comuns nos trabalhos de produção foram os de formato quadrado (0,25 m2) e o número de coletores variou bastante entre os trabalhos (de 10 a 60 coletores). As folhas contribuíram em torno de 70% ou mais do total da serapilheira. A decomposição apresentou grande variação na massa acondicionada nas bolsas e nos tempos de coleta. Com exceção de um trabalho, os manuscritos avaliados não apresentaram estudos sobre a decomposição de outros componentes da serapilheira, que não a foliar, evidenciando assim a necessidade de estudos nesta temática. Os trabalhos apresentaram tempo total de um ano de avaliação em quase sua totalidade, o que evidencia a necessidade dos monitoramentos de longo prazo, pois estudos com breve duração não permitem avaliar os efeitos de alterações interanuais. As metodologias utilizadas nos trabalhos avaliados apresentaram alto grau de variação, evidenciando a necessidade de padronização que permita a comparação entre estes. Por fim, pôde-se observar que algumas fitofisionomias não possuem nenhuma publicação sobre os temas avaliados, o que reforça a necessidade de estudo da dinâmica da ciclagem de nutrientes nestes locais.

Abstract In forest systems, the natural form of nutrient supply is through the litter, which comprises all plant material deposited in the soil. Therefore, the present work aimed to perform a systematic review on the different methodologies used in the litter and nutrient cycling topics in the diverse phytophysiognomies of the Cerrado biome. All publications were evaluated, regardless of the period of publication, and cataloged those that fit the theme: quantification of the production and decomposition of litter in the Cerrado biome, through searches in the Periódicos CAPES gate. Twenty-six (26) articles were selected with studies in the following forest formations: Cerrado restricted sense; Cerradão; Gallery Woods; Cerrado-Amazonian transition forests and homogeneous plantations. About the methodologies, the most common collectors in the production works were those with square format (0.25 m2) and the number of collectors varied widely between works (from 10 to 60 collectors). The leaves contributed around 70% or more of the total litter. The decomposition showed great variation in the mass conditioned in the litter bags and also in times of collection. Except one study, the evaluated manuscripts did not present studies on the decomposition of other litter components, other than the leaves, thus evidencing the need for studies in this topic. The studies presented a total time of one-year evaluation in almost all of them, which shows the need for long-term monitoring, since short-term studies do not allow the evaluation of the inter-annual changes effects. The methodologies used in the evaluated works presented a high degree of variation, evidencing the need for standardization that allows the comparison between them. Finally, it could be observed that some phytophysiognomies do not have any publications on the subjects evaluated, which reinforces the need to study the dynamics of the nutrient cycling in these sites.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the internal morphology of Platypodium elegans Vog. seeds through the X-ray tests and to verify their relation with germination. 200 radiographic images were taken of each group and the tests were taken with the seeds set at 28.0 cm from the source of x-rays. Next, the seeds were classified according to their internal morphology as seen in the radiographic images. Three categories of seeds were established: full, empty and partially full. For each seed category, germination tests were performed. Statistical design in factorial 3x3, with three groups and three categories. From the results obtained in this work, the use of x-ray test with Platypodium elegans Vog. seeds is promising in quality of seed groups detection, assisting in empty and partially full seeds separation, invalidating their immediate use or storage. The x-ray test, in 26 kV for 1.2 seconds intensity was efficient in Platypodium elegans Vog. internal morpholy evaluation. There is a relationship between the internal morphology of seeds and the results of the germination test. The importance of a methodology of easy implementation, aiming at estimating the germinative power of the groups of seeds, was proved by the x-ray tests in seeds of Platypodium elegans Vog. and can also be used for the analysis of the internal morphology of other forest species

As espécies florestais, particularmente as de Cerrado, são caracterizadas pela alta ocorrência de predação, frutos vazios e deficiência na formação do embrião. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar a morfologia interna de sementes de Terminalia argentea Mart. et Zucc. pelo teste de raios X e verificar a sua relação com a germinação. O experimento foi conduzido no Laboratório de Análise de Imagens do Departamento de Produção Vegetal da Escola Superior "Luis de Queiroz" na cidade de Piracicaba, SP. Três lotes de sementes de T. argentea foram coletados e levados ao Laboratório onde se procederam as análises radiográficas com 200 sementes de cada lote. As sementes foram posicionadas a 28,0 cm da fonte de emissão de raios X, utilizando o equipamento digital Faxitron X-ray, modelo MX-20 DC 12. Em seguida as sementes foram classificadas de acordo com a morfologia interna visualizada nas imagens radiográficas, sendo estabelecidas três categorias: sementes Cheias, Vazias e Mal formadas. Para cada categoria de sementes realizou-se o teste de germinação. O delineamento estatístico utilizado foi em esquema fatorial, com três lotes e três categorias. Pelos resultados obtidos neste trabalho, a utilização do teste de raios X em sementes de Terminalia argentea é promissora na detecção da qualidade dos frutos dos lotes de sementes, auxiliando na separação de sementes vazias e com anormalidades embrionárias, inviabilizando seu uso de imediato ou para armazenamento. O teste de raios X, na intensidade de 26 kV por 1,2 segundos é eficiente na avaliação da morfologia interna de sementes de Terminalia argentea.

Forest species, especially those from the Cerrado, are characterised by a high incidence of predation, empty fruit and deficiency in embryo formation. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the internal morphology of seeds of Terminalia argentea Mart. et Zucc. by X-ray testing, and to verify its relationship to germination. The experiment was conducted at the Laboratory for Image Analysis of the Department for Plant Production, at the Escola Superior Luis de Queiroz, in the city of Piracicaba, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Three batches of seeds of T. argentea were collected and taken to the laboratory, where radiographic analysis of 200 seeds from each lot was carried out. The seeds were placed 28.0 cm from the source of the X-ray emissions, digital equipment from Faxitron X-ray, model MX-20 DC 12. The seeds were then classified according to their internal morphology as seen in the radiographs, with three categories being established: full, empty and misshapen seeds. Germination tests were performed for each category of seed. The statistical design employed was a factorial scheme of three groups and three categories. From the results obtained in this work, use of X-ray testing of seeds of Terminalia argentea is promising for the detection of the fruit quality of the seed lots, aiding in the separation of empty seeds and those with embryonic abnormalities, and precluding their storage or immediate use. X-ray testing at an intensity of 26 kV for 1.2 seconds was effective in assessing the internal morphology of seeds of Terminalia argentea.

RESUMO A hibridação de espécies de eucalipto possibilita a obtenção de híbridos mais produtivos e com alta eficiência de absorção e/ou utilização de nutrientes, dependendo das espécies combinadas. Neste contexto, o presente trabalho, conduzido na região do Vale do Jequitinhonha, Minas Gerais, teve por objetivos: determinar a produtividade, o conteúdo e a eficiência de utilização de N, P, K, Ca e Mg de híbridos interespecíficos de Eucalyptus spp. Para tanto, mediu-se o diâmetro à altura do peito (DAP) de todas as árvores presentes em cada parcela, e abateram-se três árvores com diâmetro correspondente ao da árvore média. Procedeu-se à cubagem das árvores pelo método de Smallian, utilizando a altura, o diâmetro e a espessura de casca na base e a 25, 50, 75 e 100 % da altura comercial. O peso de material fresco do lenho, da casca, das folhas e dos galhos foi determinado no campo, e desses componentes se coletaram amostras para determinação do peso da matéria seca. As amostras do tronco consistiram de discos coletados, com casca, na base e a 25, 50, 75 e 100% da altura comercial. As amostras de tecido vegetal foram analisadas para: N, P, K, Ca e Mg. Os resultados obtidos não indicaram diferenças significativas para a produção de biomassa de copa entre os híbridos de eucalipto em conseqüência de apresentarem mesma idade. Entretanto, a produção de biomassa de tronco apresentou diferenças significativas sendo os híbridos de Eucalyptus urophylla S. T. Blake proveniente de polinização natural mais produtivo em 50 e 69% em comparação aos híbridos de Eucalyptus urophylla W. Hill. Ex Maiden com Eucalyptus grandis Dehnh.e de Eucalyptus urophylla com descendentes do cruzamento de Eucalyptus camaldulensis com Eucalyptus grandis respectivamente. Além disso, aqueles híbridos foram os que alocaram maior quantidade de biomassa no tronco (92,3%) em relação à copa (7,7%), e ainda foram os mais eficientes na absorção e utilização de N, P, K, Ca e Mg. Concluiu-se que: 1) híbridos de Eucalyptus urophylla provenientes de polinização natural ou controlada não apresentam diferença na produção de biomassa de copa quando avaliados numa mesma idade; 2) a polinização controlada de Eucalyptus urophylla com Eucalyptus grandis e com descendentes do cruzamento de Eucalyptus camaldulensis com Eucalyptus grandis reduz a produção de biomassa de tronco; 3) híbridos de Eucalyptus urophylla provenientes de polinização natural são mais produtivos e mais eficientes na absorção e utilização de N, P, K, Ca e Mg e 4) híbridos de Eucalyptus urophylla provenientes de descendentes do cruzamento de Eucalyptus camaldulensis com Eucalyptus grandis são menos produtivos e menos eficientes na absorção e utilização de N, P, K, Ca e Mg.

ABSTRACT The hybridization of eucalyptus species can provide more productive hybrids and with a high efficiency of nutrient absorption and, or, nutrient use, depending on the combined species. In this context, the present work was undertaken in the Jequitinhonha Valley region, Minas Gerais, and its objectives were: to determine the productivity, content and use efficiency of N, P, K, Ca and Mg in interspecific hybrids of Eucalyptus spp. In each plot, the diameters were measured at breast height (DBH) in all the trees, and three trees with diameter similar to the average mean were felled. The volume of the trees was estimated by the Smallian method, using the height, diameter and the bark thickness at the base and at 25, 50, 75 and 100 % of the commercial height. The fresh weight of the wood, bark, leaves and branches was determined in the field, and samples from them were collected for the determination of dry matter. The log samples consisted of collected disks with bark, from the base and at 25, 50, 75 and 100 % of the commercial height. The samples of vegetable tissues were analyzed for: N, P, K, Ca and Mg. The results obtained did not show significant differences for the production of crown biomass between the eucalyptus hybrids of the same age. However, the production of log biomass presented significant differences and the naturally pollinated hybrids of Eucalyptus urophylla were 50.0 % and 69.0 % more productive compared with the hybrids of Eucalyptus urophylla with Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus urophylla with descendants of the crossing of Eucalyptus camaldulensis with Eucalyptus grandis, respectively. Also, these hybrids allocated larger amount of biomass in the log (92.3 %) in relation to the crown (7.7 %), and they were more efficient in the absorption and use of N, P, K, Ca and Mg. The conclusions were that: 1) same aged hybrids of Eucalyptus urophylla from natural or controlled pollinations did not differ in their crown biomass; 2) log biomass was reduced in the hybrids from controlled pollination between Eucalyptus urophylla with Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus urophylla with descendants of the crossing of Eucalyptus camaldulensis with Eucalyptus grandis; 3) hybrids of Eucalyptus urophylla from natural pollination were more productive and more efficient in the absorption and efficiency of use of N, P, K, Ca and Mg and 4) hybrids of Eucalyptus urophylla with descendants of the crossing of Eucalyptus camaldulensis with Eucalyptus grandis are less productive and less efficient in the absorption and use of N, P, K, Ca and Mg.

ABSTRACT In an experiment involving 248 half-sib families of Eucalyptus grandis in randomized block with 4 repetitions and linear plots of 6 plants, in the City of Rio Doce, Minas Gerais, to the 46 months of age, were evaluated the methodology of selection indices (Classic Index and of Pesek and Baker) and the techniques of the canonical analysis and factors analysis as tool of order of candidates to the selection with relation to the traits breast height, height of plants, number of trees with rust incidence, number of trees with cancer incidence and number of normal trees per plot. The index of Pesek and Baker was the only one to present expected genetic gains in the directions longed for all the evaluated traits. The techniques of the canonical analysis and factors analysis had not been efficient in providing expected genetic gains balanced with the intentions of the work, but they had allowed the suggestion of its application in other works for better verification of its potentialities as tool of order of candidates to the selection.

RESUMO m um experimento envolvendo 248 progênies de meios-irmãos de Eucalyptus grandis, em blocos ao acaso com 4 repetições e parcelas lineares de 6 plantas, no Município de Rio Doce, Minas Gerais, aos 46 meses de idade, foram avaliadas as metodologia de índices de seleção (Índice Clássico e de Pesek e Baker) e as técnicas das variáveis canônicas e da análise de fatores, como ferramenta de ordenamento de candidatos à seleção com relação aos caracteres circunferência à altura do peito, altura de plantas, número de árvores com incidência de ferrugem, número de árvores com incidência de cancro e número de árvores normais por parcela. O índice de Pesek e Baker foi o único a apresentar ganhos esperados nos sentidos almejados para todos os caracteres avaliados. As técnicas das variáveis canônicas e da análise de fatores não foram eficientes em proporcionar ganhos equilibrados com os propósitos do trabalho, mas permitiram a sugestão de sua aplicação em outros trabalhos para melhor verificação de suas potencialidades como ferramenta de ordenamento de candidatos à seleção.

ABSTRACT The method of within-between selection was compared with the method of combined selection, using different intensities of selection for Eucalyptus grandis. This was done utilizing an experiment involving families of half-sibs of E. grandis conducted by Celulose Nipo Brasileira S. A. (CENIBRA), in which data on circumference at breast height and plant height have been recorded. The method combined selection was found to be superior to within-between selection due to the larger estimates of expected genetic gain an due to the larger number of families selected for recombination.

RESUMO Utilizando-se de um experimento, envolvendo famílias de meios-irmãos de Eucalipytus grandis, conduzido pela Celulose Nipo Brasileira S.A. (CENIBRA), onde foram anotados dados de circunferência à altura do peito (CAP) e altura de plantas (ALT), foram comparadas as metodologias de seleção entre e dentro com a seleção combinada, sob diferentes intensidades de seleção. O processo de seleção combinada mostrou-se superior ao de seleção entre e dentro devido às maiores estimativas de ganhos genéticos esperados e, também, pelo fato de selecionar um número maior de famílias para recombinação.
