A fim de determinar a disposição a pagar (DAP) da população de São Carlos – SP, Brasil, para a proteção ambiental da bacia hidrográfica do ribeirão do Feijão, o Método de Valoração Contingencial (MVC), bem como a técnica de eliciação bidding-games foram utilizados. Em outubro de 2010, 280 questionários foram aplicados a uma amostra probabilística da população. Um modelo de regressão logística multivariada foi construído, criando cinco cenários ajustados pela idade e probabilidade de pagar de acordo com as variáveis significativas encontradas. Em relação à DAP, 56% dos entrevistados se mostraram dispostos a pagar uma quantia mensal usando a conta de água como veículo de pagamento. A média DAP foi de 1.94 US Dollar (USD), com um desvio padrão de 1,91 USD. O valor total anual estimado para o cenário que considera toda a população com mais de 18 anos de idade foi de USD 3,930,616.80. O principal argumento para a não DAP foi que os entrevistados não tinham condições financeiras (14%).

In order to determine the willingness of the population of São Carlos (a city in the state of São Paulo, Brazil) to pay for the environmental protection (WTP) of the Feijão River's watershed, the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM), as well as the bidding-games technique, were used. In October 2010, 280 questionnaires were applied to a probabilistic sample of the population. A multivariate logistic regression model was built, creating five scenarios adjusted to the age and probability to pay according to the significant variables found. Concerning the WTP, 56% of the interviewees showed willingness to pay a monthly amount using the water bill as a vehicle for this. The WTP average was 1.94 US Dollar (USD), with a standard deviation of 1.91 USD. The total annual amount for the scenario that considers the whole population over 18 years old was of USD 3,930,616.80. The main argument for the negative WTP was that the interviewees could not afford it (14%).

Intermittent CO2 enrichment and analysis of the dry matter accumulation and photoassimilate partitioning in tomato submitted to grown in protected environment and field conditions. To assess dry matter (DM) accumulation and photoassimilate partitioning in tomatoes growth under different CO2 concentrations an experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design with 12 repetitions and two tomato hybrid cultivars cultivar (cv.) Andrea and Alambra. CO2 intermittent enrichment (no enrichment during 10:30a.m. to 4:00p.m.) was provide by compost pile, and gas concentration range from 600 to 750 µl l-1. The CO2 enrichment only changed DM partition and accumulation of the stem in the cv. Alambra, leaving the other variables in both cultivars, insensible to the treatment. DM accumulation was higher in protected environments compared with the field conditions. The cultivar Andrea accumulated 786.39 g of DM pl-1 in the CO2 enriched environment, 815.49 g pl-1 in the protected environment and 637.41 g pl-1 in the field. The cv. Alambra accumulated 766.68 g of DM pl-1 in CO2 enriched environment, 824.35 g pl-1 in the protected environment and 592.44 g pl-1 in the field. The higher sink of photoassimilates were the fruits, which accumulated 59%, 63% and 72% of the plant DM in the CO2 enriched environment, in the protected environment and in the field conditions, respectively.

Para avaliar o acúmulo de massa seca (MS) e a partição de fotoassimilados em tomateiro cultivado sob diferentes concentrações de CO2, foi conduzido um experimento no delineamento em blocos casualizados com 12 repetições e as cultivares (cv.) híbridas de tomateiro Andrea e Alambra. O enriquecimento com CO2 foi intermitente (não havendo enriquecimento no período das 10 h 30 min às 16 h) pela utilização de pilha de compostagem como fonte do gás, cuja concentração variou de 600 µl/lt a 750 µl/lt durante o período matinal. O enriquecimento com CO2 alterou somente a partição e o acúmulo de MS de caule na cv. Alambra, permanecendo as demais variáveis, em ambas as cultivares, insensíveis ao tratamento. Houve maior acúmulo de MS nas plantas cultivadas nos ambientes protegidos comparadas às do campo. A cv Andrea acumulou 786.39 g/planta de MS no ambiente protegido + CO2 (AP + CO2), e 815.49 g/planta no ambiente protegido normal (AP normal) e 637.41 g/planta no campo. A cv. Alambra acumulou 766.68 g/planta de MS no AP + CO2, 824.35 g/planta no AP normal e 592.44 g/planta no campo. O maior dreno de fotoassimilados foram os frutos, que acumularam 59%, 63% e 72% da MS das plantas nos AP + CO2, AP normal e campo, respectivamente.
