RESUMO Objetivo Caracterizar a indicação e analisar a percepção dos usuários quanto a queixas e benefícios do uso de próteses auditivas concedidas pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Métodos Estudo transversal, quantitativo, que analisou 100 usuários de próteses auditivas no retorno inicial após adaptação, em um serviço de média e alta complexidade em saúde auditiva. Foram coletados dados dos prontuários relativos às características da perda auditiva, da seleção e adaptação da prótese auditiva, e do tempo de uso. Foi realizada entrevista para investigar a percepção de queixas e benefícios com o uso da prótese auditiva. Resultados Houve predomínio dos seguintes aspectos: a faixa etária de 66 a 90 anos; Ensino Fundamental incompleto; perda auditiva sensorioneural de graus leve e moderado; ligeira/discreta dificuldade de compreensão da fala. Foram adaptadas 184 próteses, sendo a maioria retroauricular e de Tipo A; o tempo de espera entre a indicação e a adaptação foi entre 33 e 88 dias; o principal benefício da prótese auditiva foi a melhora da compreensão/interação social, e a queixa principal referiu-se a problemas de regulagem. Conclusão A maior parte dos usuários relatou benefícios com a utilização da prótese para a compreensão de fala e a interação social, e a queixa mais referida foi a regulagem.

ABSTRACTPurpose: To characterize the referral and analyze the perception of the users regarding the complaints and benefits of the use of hearing aids granted by the Unified Health System. Methods A cross-sectional, quantitative study that analyzed 100 users of hearing aids in the initial visit after fitting, in a service of medium and high complexity in hearing health. Data were collected from the medical records and analyzed the characteristics of the hearing loss, the selection and fitting of hearing aids and the length of time using them. An interview was carried out to investigate the perception of complaints and benefits with the use of hearing aids. Results Among the users of hearing aids, the age range of 66-90 years was predominant; schooling, incomplete middle school prevailed; mild to moderate sensorineural hearing loss, slight / discreet difficulty understanding speech; 184 prostheses were adapted, the majority of those were retroauricular and Type A; the waiting time between the referral and fitting was between 33-88 days, the main benefit of the hearing aid was the improvement of social understanding / interaction and the main complaint referred to problems of adjustment. Conclusion Most users reported benefits with prosthesis use for speech comprehension and social interaction; the most mentioned complaint was adjustment.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar a visão dos familiares com relação à queixa formulada por educadores e explicações a respeito das causas das dificuldades relatadas. Métodos: trata-se de um estudo de campo de caráter exploratório, aprovado pelo Cômite de Ética em Pesquisa com Seres humanos sob parecer 447.163/2013. Participaram 35 familiares de crianças encaminhadas para avaliação psicológica, fonoaudiológica e/ou pedagógica especializada, sendo que os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas e analisados a partir de categorias elaboradas pelas pesquisadoras. A amostra foi composta por 33 mães, uma avó e um pai, com idades entre 25 e 68 anos. Resultados: as queixas escolares estavam relacionadas à: dificuldades de escrita (31%), dificuldades de leitura (26%), aspectos cognitivos (21%), baixo rendimento acadêmico (15%) e aspectos psicológicos/comportamentais (6,5%). Foram referidas como causas das dificuldades problemas próprios das crianças (44%), da família (23%) e do ambiente escolar (3%). Conclusão: aponta-se para importância de intervenções direcionadas aos familiares a fim de favorecer a participação da família no processo de apropriação da escrita de forma mais ativa e reflexiva. Os resultados desta pesquisa apontam para a necessidade do implemento de estudos que objetivem a análise das concepções de linguagem escrita que subjazem o entendimento dos familiares acerca do processo de apropriação da escrita por parte das crianças, uma vez que tais concepções interferem nos modos de participação em tal processo.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to analyze family members' views on the complaint by educators and their explanations about the causes for the reported difficulties. Methods: it is an exploratory field study, approved by the Ethics Committee on Research with Human Beings 447.163/2013. Thirty-five (35) family members of children referred to psychological/speech-language therapeutic and/ or pedagogical assessment participated. Data were collected by means of semi-structured interviews and analyzed through categories elaborated by the researchers. The sample comprised 33 mothers, 1 grandmother and 1 father, ages ranged between 25 and 68 years old. Results: the school complaints were related to: writing difficulties (31%), reading difficulties (26%), cognitive aspects (21%), low academic performance (15%), and psychological/behavioral aspects (6.5%). The mentioned causes of the difficulties were children's typical problems (44%), family problems (23%) and problems in the school setting (3%). Conclusion: the importance of family-oriented interviews is pointed out in order to favor family participation in the process of writing acquisition in a more active and thought-provoking way. The results in this research point to the need to implement studies objectifying the analyses of the written language conceptions that underpin families' understanding on the process of children's writing acquisition, as these conceptions interfere in the way they participate in that process.

Introduction About 50 million people have epilepsy and 30% of them have epilepsy that does not respond to properly conducted drug treatment. Objective Verify the incidence of language disorders in oral language, speech, and written language of subjects with difficult to control temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and compare the occurrence of these disorders in subjects before and after surgery. Methods Cross-sectional study with quantitative analysis, exploratory type. A questionnaire for data collection was administered covering the following aspects: oral language, speech complaints, and writing production and comprehension. Criteria for inclusion of subjects were a diagnosis of TLE refractory to drug treatment and at least 4 years of schooling. Results The sample of 63 patients with TLE was divided into two groups: presurgical (n = 31) and postsurgical (n = 32). In the postsurgical group, there was a higher frequency of left lobectomy (75%) than right (25%). Conclusion Statistical analysis was performed with the chi-square test (significance level of 0.05). Complaints related to speech-language attention were more predominant in postsurgical subjects. Analysis of oral language, speech, and written language in subjects with epilepsy who underwent temporal lobectomy or not showed findings consistent with symptoms related to transient aphasia, with the presence of paraphasias, as well as changes in speech prosody and melody. These symptoms appeared more associated with recurrence after having a temporal lobectomy.
