RESUMO O carcinoma mioepitelial é uma neoplasia rara, de manifestação muito heterogênea, que encerra um grande desafio na adoção de critérios prognósticos categóricos, uma vez que, apesar de ser classificado como tumor de baixo grau de malignidade, apresenta comportamentos muito agressivos. Enquanto vários estudos indicam a ressecção cirúrgica completa como o melhor tratamento para carcinoma mioepitelial, terapias adjuvantes têm-se revelado efetivas na prevenção da recidiva. Este estudo descreve o caso de uma paciente que desenvolveu carcinoma mioepitelial em coxa direita, acometendo partes profundas, o qual foi conduzido como indica a literatura atual, contudo, apresentando desfecho desfavorável. As informações disponíveis provêm de poucos estudos, logo, ressaltamos a importância de reunir dados a respeito do tema, que ainda são escassos.

ABSTRACT Myoepithelial carcinoma is a rare neoplasm of very heterogeneous manifestation that represents a major challenge to the adoption of categorical prognostic criteria since, despite being classified as a low-grade cancer, it behaves very aggressively. While several studies have indicated complete surgical resection as the best treatment for myoepithelial carcinoma, adjuvant therapies have proven effective in preventing relapse. This study describes the case of a patient who developed myoepithelial carcinoma in the right thigh, affecting deep tissues, which were conducted as indicated in the current literature, however, presenting an unfavorable outcome. The available information comes from few studies; therefore, we emphasize the importance of gathering data on the subject, which are still scarce.

RESUMEN El carcinoma mioepitelial es una neoplasia rara, de manifestación muy heterogénea, que encierra un gran desafío para la adopción de criterios pronósticos categóricos, puesto que, a pesar de ser clasificado como tumor de bajo grado de malignidad, muestra comportamientos muy agresivos. Mientras varios estudios indican la resección quirúrgica completa como el mejor tratamiento para el carcinoma mioepitelial, terapias adyuvantes se han revelado efectivas para prevenir la recidiva. Este estudio describe el caso de una mujer que presentó carcinoma mioepitelial en muslo derecho, afectando partes profundas, lo cual fue conducido como indica la literatura actual, sin embargo, con un resultado desfavorable. Las informaciones disponibles son producto de pocos estudios, por ello, destacamos la importancia de reunir datos acerca del tema, que aún son escasos.

ABSTRACT During the production of petroleum and gas, the equipments employed for this activity are subjected to synergetic wear mechanisms, such as corrosion, corrosion-cavitation and corrosion-cavitation-erosion. Laboratory experiments has been performed to reproduce some of these mechanisms, however, sometimes the tests is not capable to recreate the complexities caused by hydrodynamic flows, physico-chemical and mechanical non-linearities. The main objective of this work is to evaluate specimens of low carbon steel under laboratory conditions, such as corrosive, cavitative-corrosive (CO2) and corrosive-erosive (CO2 + SiO2) environments. During the tests, the specimens were subjected to a stirring aqueous saline solution (0 and 5.0 m/s) at two levels of temperature, with gas injection (5.0 L/min) and contaminated with by solids particles of SiO2 (2.5% mass). The surface of the specimens subjected to upstream flow (0° in a cylindrical generatrix of the specimen), and downstream flows (180º) were analyzed by profilometry. The measurements of roughness and waviness of all specimens were statistically analyzed at a confidence level of 95% and significant differences observed in some matrices were discussed. The results suggest that the wear mechanisms that act in the upstream generatrix differ from that of specimen downstream.

É descrito um caso de hidatidose abdominal, sem comprometimento hepático, em paciente do Estado do Acre. O cisto, já em degeneração e parcialmente calcificado, foi descoberto, por acaso, mediante estudo radiológico da coluna vertebral feito para avaliação de hérnia de disco, detectada algum tempo antes. Embora as imagens sugerissem uma neoplasia do mesentério, o achado de acúleos rostelares no conteúdo pastoso da hidátide, removida cirurgicamente, permitiu reconhecer-se a natureza parasitária da lesão.

A case of abdominal hydatidosis, without hepatic involvement, in a patient from the State of Acre is reported. The hydatid, already in degeneration and partially calcified, was discovered incidentally by a radiologic examination of the vertebral column, carried out for evaluating the state of an intervertebral disk prolapse. Although the images suggested a mesenteric tumor, attached to the intestinal wall, the finding of rostellar hooklets in the dense contents of the cyst, after surgical removal, revealed the parasitic nature of the lesion.

É descrito um caso de pseudomicetoma dermatofítico, recidivante, em paciente com lesões no couro cabeludo. O exame histopatológico de uma das lesões mostrou, nos tecidos, os agregados micelianos ou pseudogrânulos, característicos da enfermidade. Dos tecidos frescos de outras lesões foi isolado o dermatófito Trichophyton tonsurans. Exames micológicos adicionais falharam em demonstrar a existência de tinea capitis, possível fonte do pseudomicetoma. A raridade dessa forma de dermatofitose profunda justifica a presente publicação.

A case of dermatophytic pseudomycetoma, in a patient with a history of recurrent lesions in the scalp, for over two years, is reported. Histopathological examination of the affected tissues revealed the mycelial aggregates or pseudogranules characteristic of the disease. Cultures of fresh tissues samples detected a fungus identified as Trichophyton tonsurans. Additional examinations failed to demonstrate lesions of tinea capitis, a probable source of the deep infection. Dermatophytic pseudomycetoma is an extremely rare form of dermatophytosis, and the rarity of such cases is the motive for the present communication.
