Resumen: La anemia (An) es un problema de salud pública en Sudamérica, siendo su principal causa la deficiencia de hierro (DH). En las ciudades de altura, la hipoxia hipobárica condiciona un aumento en el nivel de hemoglobina (Hb) en sus residentes. Para el diagnóstico de An se mide la Hb, la cual se modifica después de los índices eritrocitarios (IE). Hay evidencia de que existe una sobrestimación de la prevalencia de An en altura. Objetivo: Correlacionar la ferritina sérica (FS) con la Hb e IE, y determinar el punto de corte de Hb para predecir DH en lactantes de 6 meses a 3400 m de altitud. Sujetos y Método: Se evaluaron 128 lactantes de 6 meses a 3.400 m de altitud. Se consideró variable independiente a la FS. Los IE y la Hb fueron las variables dependientes. La An en el lactante fue definida con una Hb < 13,4 g/dl. La DH se definió por FS < 12 ug/dL. Los datos se procesaron en el programa SPSS® versión 25. Se usó la correlación Spearman para el análisis bivariado. Se construyó la curva ROC para determinar el punto de corte de Hb para DH. Resultados: La mayor correlación de FS se observó con la hemoglobina corpuscular media (HCM), rho = 0,449 (p < 0,001) y el volumen corpuscular medio (VCM) rho = 0,423 (p < 0,001). El punto de corte de la Hb, según la FS, que define DH fue de 12,15 g/dL (curva ROC: 0,704; IC 95%: 0,597-0,811; p < 0,001). Conclusión: El VCM y la HCM presentaron mejor correlación con la FS. El modelo cúbico y logarítmico son los que representaron mejor estas relaciones respectivamente. La Hb < 12,15 g/dL permite diagnosticar DH en lactantes de 6 meses a 3400 m de altura.

Abstract: Anemia (An) is a public health problem in South America, with iron deficiency (ID) as the main cause. In high-altitude cities, hypobaric hypoxia causes an increase in hemoglobin (Hb) levels in residents. For the diagnosis of An, Hb is measured, which is modified after erythrocyte indices (EI) measurements. There is evidence that there is an overestimation of the prevalence of An at high altitudes. Objective: To correlate serum ferritin (SF) with Hb and EI, and to determine the Hb cut-off point for predicting ID in 6-month-old infants at 3400 m of altitude. Subjects and Method: 128 infants aged 6 months at 3400 m altitude were evaluated. The SF was considered an independent variable. IE and Hb were the dependent variables. The An in the infant was defined with an Hb < 13.4 g/dl. The DH was defined by FS <12 ug/dL. Data were processed in SPSS® version 25. Spearman correlation was used for bivariate analysis. The ROC curve was constructed to determine the Hb cut-off point for ID. Results: The highest correlation of SF was observed with mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), rho = 0.449 (p < 0.001), and mean corpuscular volume (MCV) rho= 0.423 (p < 0.001). The Hb cut-off point according to SF, defining ID was 12.15 g/dL (ROC curve: 0.704; 95% CI: 0.597-0.811; p < 0.001). Conclusion: MCV and MCH showed a better correlation with SF. The cubic and logarithmic models were the ones that best represented these relationships, respectively. Hb < 12.15 g/dL allows diagnosing ID in 6-month-old infants at 3400 m altitude.

Abstract The objective of this paper is to quantify the land use from the primary activities in terms of consumption in Mexico. To do this, we assign data on the land use for agriculture, livestock, productive forestry, and aquaculture to the primary economic activities represented in the 2018 input-output table. Also, the input-output model of land use is complemented with statistical information from the import matrix and the social accounting matrix of 2018. The results indicate that the land foot-print amounts to 61 745 416 hectares and 0.49 hectares per capita. This means that 73% of the land footprint is represented by land areas within our country and 27% by areas in other countries. The land demand derived from the consumption of the population in Mexico is greater than the land areas used in the production of primary activities. This study has two limitations: one referred to the assumptions of the input-output model and another, to the concept of land use. The originality and value of the article consist in analyzing the demand for land for food production in Mexico, which represents the greatest threat to the conservation of terrestrial ecosystems and the ecological services that emanate from it.

Resumen El objetivo del presente estudio es cuantificar el uso de suelo del sector primario en términos del consumo en México. Para ello, se asignan datos sobre áreas del uso de suelo para la producción agrícola, pecuaria, forestal y acuícola a las actividades económicas primarias representadas en la matriz de insumo-producto de 2018 del país. Además, el modelo de insumo-producto del uso de suelo se complementó con la información estadística proveniente de la Matriz de Importaciones y la Matriz de Contabilidad Social de 2018. Los resultados indican que la huella de suelo de la actividad del sector primario asciende a 61 745 416 hectáreas y 0.49 hectáreas per cápita. Esto implica que 73% de esta huella de suelo está representada por áreas dentro del país y 27% por áreas en otros países. La demanda derivada de suelo correspondiente al consumo de la población en México es mayor a las áreas de suelo empleadas en la producción doméstica de las actividades primarias. Este estudio tiene dos limitaciones: una referida a los supuestos del modelo de insumo-producto y otra, al concepto sobre el uso de suelo. La originalidad y el valor del artículo consisten en analizar la demanda de suelo para la producción de alimentos en México, la cual representa la mayor amenaza para la conservación de los ecosistemas terrestres y los servicios ecológicos que de ella emanan.

Resumen: Las grandes ciudades demandan una enorme cantidad de recursos materiales y energéticos que generan residuos contaminantes al medio ambiente. El objetivo de este artículo es estimar el impacto que factores asociados con la aglomeración urbana tienen en la contaminación del aire en los municipios de México. Primero se analiza si la contaminación presenta un patrón de aglomeración. Despúes, con un modelo espacial de Durbin, se estima la relación entre contaminación y aglomeración urbana. Los resultados muestran que la densidad del automóvil, el número de empresas y el consumo son los factores de mayor peso en la generación y aglomeración de contaminación del aire.

Abstract: The functioning of large cities demands huge amounts of material and energy resources that generate polluting waste discharged into the environment. The aim of this article is to estimate the impact of factors associated with urban agglomeration on air pollution generation in Mexico’s municipalities. First, we analyse whether the pollution presents an agglomeration pattern, and then, with a Durbin Spatial Model, the relationship between pollution and urban agglomeration is estimated. The results show that car density, the number of companies, and private consumption are the factors with the greatest weight in the generation and agglomeration of air pollution.

Resumen El objetivo fue evaluar la evidencia de la estructura factorial del CESQT en Profesores Universitarios Mexicanos a través de sus patrones de respuesta durante el primer pico de la Pandemia de COVID-19. En el método se consideraron las propiedades psicométricas del instrumento examinando a una muestra de n=600 de Profesores Universitarios Mexicanos. La escala incluía una sección sociodemográfica y el cuestionario CESQT de Gil-Monte (2005). El inventario tiene 20 reactivos agrupados en 4 dimensiones relacionadas con: Ilusión por el trabajo, Cansancio Emocional, Indolencia y Culpa. El análisis factorial, la varianza y covarianza se realizaron usando el método de máxima verosimilitud con AMOS24®. Los resultados del estudio demostraron que el instrumento es valido y confiable para medir los niveles de Burnout en profesores y se encontraron diferencias significativas con los resultados de Gil-Monte. El Coeficiente de Alfa de Cronbach fue mayor a 0.70 para las cuatro escalas del instrumento. El valor original del presente estudio contribuye con el desarrollo del cuerpo de conocimiento acerca del escenario percibido por Profesores Universitarios durante el primer pico de la Pandemia de COVID-19, sobre instrumentos válidos para medir el Síndrome de Burnout en países de habla hispana. Se concluye que los resultados proveen evidencia de las propiedades psicométricas del CESQT para el estudio del Síndrome de Burnout en el contexto cultural mexicano durante el primer pico de la Pandemia de COVID-19. Todas las escalas de medición satisfacen los criterios de validez y confiabilidad. El análisis factorial confirmó el modelo Teórico de cada una de las dimensiones de Gil-Monte de manera empírica.

Abstract: The objective was to evaluate the evidence of the factorial structure of the CESQT in Mexican University Professors through their response patterns during the first peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The method considers the psychometric properties of the instrument by examining a sample of n=600 of Mexican University Professors. The scale featured a sociodemographic section and the CESQT questionnaire by Gil-Monte (2005). The inventory has 20 items grouped into 4 dimensions related to: Enthusiasm for work, Emotional Fatigue, Indolence and Guilt. Factor analysis, variance and covariance were performed using the maximum likelihood method with AMOS24®. The results of the study demonstrated that the instrument is valid and reliable to measure Burnout levels in teachers and significant differences were found with the Gil-Monte results. Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient was greater than 0.70 for the four scales of the instrument. The original value of this study contributes to the development of the body of knowledge about the scenario perceived by University Professors during the first peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic, about valid instruments to measure Burnout Syndrome in Spanish-speaking countries. It is concluded that the results provide evidence of the psychometric properties of the CESQT during the study of Burnout Syndrome in the Mexican cultural context, the first peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic. All the measurement scales satisfy the criteria of validity and reliability. The factorial analysis of the Theoretical model of each one of the dimensions of Gil-Monte in an empirical way.

RESUMEN Introducción En México, esta indagación hasta donde se tiene conocimiento representa el primer trabajo multicéntrico que estudia el grado de desarrollo de la aptitud clínica en cuatro Unidades de medicina familiar del Sector Salud. Por consiguiente, la interrogante de investigación es ¿Cuál es el grado de desarrollo de la aptitud clínica en tres instituciones de salud?. Este estudio proveerá conocimientos que permitirán emprender investigaciones en las cuales se ensayen estrategias educativas que propicien el desarrollo de esta aptitud. Objetivo Determinar el grado de desarrollo de la aptitud clínica en residentes de medicina familiar de cuatro sedes académicas. Método Diseño prospectivo, transversal, observacional y multicéntrico. Se estudió toda la matrícula del ciclo académico 2019-2020 con consentimiento informado. Se construyó un instrumento que evaluó la variable “aptitud clínica” mediante ocho indicadores y 182 ítems; la validez conceptual, de contenido y confiabilidad se valoró por cinco médicos familiares con experiencia docente y en investigación educativa. Resultados De las cuatro sedes, las calificaciones globales más altas en los indicadores fueron alcanzadas por los R1 de la Unidad de Medicina Familiar # 20 del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (UMF20 IMSS), R2 y R3 del Hospital General de Zona # 1 (HGZMF1 IMSS). Los R1 de la UMF20 alcanzaron los más altos puntajes en 3/8 indicadores. Los R2 y R3 del HGZMF1 lograron las más altas puntuaciones en 2/8 indicadores. Se estimaron diferencias entre R1 (n=46), entre R2 (n=47) y entre R3 (n=40) de las cuatro sedes por indicador y no se encontraron diferencias estadísticas significativas en ningún caso. Conclusiones El grado de desarrollo de la aptitud clínica se puede considerar de nivel medio en las cuatro sedes académicas. Esto en parte se puede explicar a que el instrumento exploró situaciones clínicas problematizadas, que exigieron del residente la reflexión crítica de su experiencia clínica antecedente.

ABSTRACT Introduction In Mexico, this inquiry to the best of our knowledge represents the first multicenter work that studies the degree of development of clinical aptitude in four Family Medicine Units of the Health Sector. Therefore, the research question is : What is the degree of development of clinical aptitude in three health institutions? This study will provide knowledge that will allow undertaking researches in which educational strategies that propitiate the development of this aptitude are tested. Objective To determine the degree of development of clinical aptitude in family medicine residents from four academic sites. Method Prospective, cross-sectional, observational and multicenter design. The entire enrollment of the 2019-2020 academic year was studied with informed consent. An instrument was constructed that assessed the variable "clinical aptitude" by means of eight indicators and 182 items; conceptual, content and reliability validity was assessed by five family physicians with teaching and educational research experience. Results Of the four sites, the highest overall scores on the indicators were achieved by the R1 of the Family Medicine Unit # 20 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (UMF20 IMSS), R2 and R3 of the General Zone Hospital # 1 (HGZMF1 IMSS). UMF20 R1s achieved the highest scores on 3/8 indicators. The R2s and R3s of HGZMF1 achieved the highest scores on 2/8 indicators. Differences were estimated between R1s (n=46), between R2s (n=47) and between R3s (n=40) of the four sites by indicator and no significant statistical differences were found in any case. Conclusions The degree of development of clinical aptitude can be considered medium level in the four academic sites. This can be partly explained by the fact that the instrument explored problematic clinical situations, which required the resident to reflect critically on his previous clinical experience.

ABSTRACT Fused deposition modeling (FDM) has gained popularity recently due to its versatility and low cost. Considering that the quality of printed parts depends on many variables, a 3^3 factorial design of experiments was conducted, where three influential parameters in the process were studied: layer height (0.15, 0.2, and 0.25 mm), infill percentage (30%, 60%, and 90%), and shell count (2, 3, and 4), using polylactic acid as the material. Their effects on tensile strength, flexural strength, printing time, and interactions were measured. The maximum tensile and flexural stress obtained were 33.5 MPa and 87.3 MPa, respectively, at a 90% infill percentage. It was found that layer height does not significantly affect mechanical strength, while infill percentage has the most significant influence, followed by the number of shells. The latter two factors show a meaningful interaction. Furthermore, all the studied parameters have a significant impact on printing time.

Abstract: The aim was to evaluate the effect of dietary addition of a polyherbal phytogenic (Animunin) on the productive performance and blood biochemistry in finishing lambs. Forty Hampshire × Suffolk males lambs (initial body weight 26.52 ± 2.13 kg) were allocated according to a completely randomized design in four treatments. Treatments consisted of dietary inclusion of the Animunin at 0, 1, 2, and 3 g kg-1 dry matter (DM). Animunin addition was not modified (p > 0.05) the productive performance, DM intake, backfat thickness, chop area, energy and protein metabolites, or liver enzymes. While hematocrit, hemoglobin and erythrocytes showed a quadratic response (p ≤ 0.05) with Animunin. The polyherbal phytogenic evaluated did not improve lamb’s productive performance and metabolites related with immune response.

Resumen: El objetivo fue evaluar el efecto de la adición dietaría de un fitogénico poliherbal (Animunin) sobre el comportamiento productivo y la bioquímica sanguínea en corderos. Se utilizaron 40 corderos machos Hampshire × Suffolk con peso vivo inicial de 26.52 ± 2.13 kg, distribuidos en un diseño completamente al azar en cuatro tratamientos. Los tratamientos fueron la inclusión de Animunin a 0, 1, 2 y 3 g kg-1 de materia seca (MS). La adición de Animunin no modifico (p > 0.05) el comportamiento productivo, el consumo de MS, el espesor de grasa dorsal, el área de la chuleta, los metabolitos energéticos y proteicos, o las enzimas hepáticas. Mientras que el hematocrito, la hemoglobina y los eritrocitos mostraron una respuesta cuadrática (p ≤ 0.05) a la adición de Animunin. El fitogénico poliherbal no mejoró el comportamiento productivo ni los metabolitos relacionados con la respuesta inmune de corderos.

ABSTRACT Objective: This article aims at reviewing the positions of a theoretical conception on the management of the training of executives, focusing on generating greater collective capacity to lead the processes of innovation and organizational improvement. Methods: Given the qualitative nature of this research, a documentary study is chosen in order to examine previous contributions in depth with the help of analysis-synthesis and induction-deduction processes. Results: The object of the theoretical conception is the management of managers’ education aiming at relating the background and renewed approaches that are synthesized in a theoretical, methodological and practical reconstruction that re-signifies it on the basis a new vision of this special object of science, from a theoretical-explanatory and predictive-praxiological perspective. The main theoretical references on which it is based are related to: philosophical foundations (ontological, gnoseological, epistemological, logical and methodological holistic approach); transdisciplinary studies within the paradigm of complexity (hermeneutics); administration as science; education sciences with emphasis on the categories of training and learning and psychological and pedagogical foundations, supported by an andragogic, constructivist and historical-cultural approach to knowledge. Conclusions: The positions that are submitted to the evaluation of the scientific community, enrich and facilitate a theoretical reconstruction of the management process of the training of executives, renewed in correspondence with current changes in Cuban context.

RESUMEN Objetivo: El presente artículo está encaminado a sintetizar los posicionamientos de una concepción teórica sobre la gestión de la formación de los directivos, orientada a generar mayor capacidad colectiva para implementar procesos de innovación y mejora organizacional. Métodos: Dada la naturaleza cualitativa de esta pesquisa, se opta por un estudio documental en el que se examinan, en profundidad, las principales aportaciones precedentes a partir del empleo del análisis-síntesis e inducción-deducción. Resultados: El objeto de la concepción teórica es la gestión de la formación de directivos que tiene como objetivo, la integración de postulados precedentes y enfoques renovados de la formación de los directivos que se sintetizan en una reconstrucción teórica, metodológica y práctica que lo resignifica sobre la base de una nueva visión de este objeto especial de la ciencia, desde una perspectiva teórica-explicativa y predictivo-praxiológica. Los principales referentes teóricos en los que se sustenta están relacionados con: fundamentos filosóficos (ontológico, gnoseológico, epistemológico, cosmovisivo, lógico y metodológico); estudios transdisciplinarios dentro del paradigma de la complejidad (hermenéuticos); la administración como ciencia; las ciencias de la educación con énfasis en las categorías formación y aprendizaje y fundamentos psicológicos y pedagógicos, sustentados desde un enfoque andragógico, constructivista e histórico-cultural del conocimiento. Conclusiones: Los posicionamientos que se someten a valoración de la comunidad científica, enriquecen y facilitan una reconstrucción teórica del proceso de gestión de la formación de directivos, al mismo tiempo que lo resignifican a tono con los cambios que se generan en el contexto cubano actual.

ABSTRACT Introduction: muscle strength may decrease in patients with chronic kidney failure due to various causes. Objective: to determine the anthropometric and clinical variables and muscle strength in adult patients with chronic kidney failure. Methodology: an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional design was applied. Men and women, older than 17 years, with chronic kidney failure who attended the National Hospital (Itauguá) and Military Hospital (Asunción), Paraguay, between April and November 2021 were included. Anthropometric, clinical and laboratory variables were determined. Muscle strength was measured with a hand dynamometer. A group of healthy young subjects was used for the comparison of muscle strength. Descriptive statistics were applied with the statistical program Epi Info 7 ™. The research was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Universidad Privada del Este, Paraguay. Results: 119 subjects entered the study, being 62 (52%) males with a mean age 56 ± 15 years and 57 (48%) females, with a mean age 51 ± 16 years. The mean creatinine clearance was 16.4 ± 17.9 mL / min. The most common etiology was the association of arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus (45%). The healthy group included 99 women with a mean age 25 ± 5 years and 51 men with a mean age 26 ± 5 years. When comparing strength between patients and healthy subjects, 66.4% decreased muscle strength was found among patients with chronic renal failure. Conclusion: muscle strength is decreased in 66.4% of chronic kidney failure patients. Early detection and early treatment of muscle strength deficit is recommended in this group of patients.

Resumen Introducción: la fuerza muscular puede disminuir en los pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica por diversas causas. Objetivo: determinar las variables antropométricas, clínicas y la fuerza muscular en pacientes adultos con insuficiencia renal crónica. Metodología: se aplicó un diseño observacional, descriptivo, transversal. Se incluyeron varones y mujeres, mayores de 17 años, portadores de insuficiencia renal crónica que asistían al Hospital Nacional (Itauguá) y Hospital Militar (Asunción), Paraguay, entre abril y noviembre 2021. Se determinaron variables antropométricas, clínicas y laboratoriales. La fuerza muscular se midió con un dinamómetro de mano. Se utilizó un grupo de sujetos jóvenes sanos para la comparación de la fuerza muscular. Se aplicó estadística descriptiva con el programa estadístico Epi Info 7™. La investigación fue aprobada por el Comité de Ética de la Universidad Privada del Este, Paraguay. Resultados: ingresaron al estudio 119 sujetos, siendo 62 (52 %) del sexo masculino con edad media 56±15 años y 57 (48 %) del sexo femenino, con edad media 51±16 años. La media de la depuración de creatinina fue 16,4±17,9 mL/min. La etiología más común fue la asociación de hipertensión arterial y diabetes mellitus (45 %). El grupo se sujetos sanos se constituyó con 99 mujeres con edad media 25±5 años y 51 varones con edad media 26±5 años. Al comparar la fuerza entre los pacientes y los sujetos sanos se halló 66,4 % de fuerza muscular disminuida entre los portadores de insuficiencia renal crónica. Conclusión: la fuerza muscular se halla disminuida en 66,4 % de los pacientes insuficiencia renal crónica. Se recomienda la detección oportuna y el tratamiento precoz del déficit de la fuerza muscular en este grupo de pacientes.

Abstract BACKGROUND Diabetic foot ulcers are a common diabetic complication leading to alarming figures of amputation, disability, and early mortality. The diabetic glucooxidative environment impairs the healing response, promoting the onset of a ‘wound chronicity phenotype’. In 50% of ulcers, these non-healing wounds act as an open door for developing infections, a process facilitated by diabetic patients’ dysimmunity. Infection can elicit biofilm formation that worsens wound prognosis. How this microorganism community is able to take advantage of underlying diabetic conditions and thrive both within the wound and the diabetic host is an expanding research field. OBJECTIVES 1) Offer an overview of the major cellular and molecular derangements of the diabetic healing process versus physiological cascades in a non-diabetic host. 2) Describe the main immunopathological aspects of diabetics’ immune response and explore how these contribute to wound infection susceptibility. 3) Conceptualize infection and biofilim in diabetic foot ulcers and analyze their dynamic interactions with wound bed cells and matrices, and their systemic effects at the organism level. 4) Offer an integrative conceptual framework of wound–dysimmunity–infection–organism damage. EVIDENCE AQUISITION We retrieved 683 articles indexed in Medline/PubMed, SciELO, Bioline International and Google Scholar. 280 articles were selected for discussion under four major subheadings: 1) normal healing processes, 2) impaired healing processes in the diabetic population, 3) diabetic dysimmunity and 4) diabetic foot infection and its interaction with the host. DEVELOPMENT The diabetic healing response is heterogeneous, torpid and asynchronous, leading to wound chronicity. The accumulation of senescent cells and a protracted inflammatory profile with a pro-catabolic balance hinder the proliferative response and delay re-epithelialization. Diabetes reduces the immune system’s abilities to orchestrate an appropriate antimicrobial response and offers ideal conditions for microbiota establishment and biofilm formation. Biofilm–microbial entrenchment hinders antimicrobial therapy effectiveness, amplifies the host's pre-existing immunodepression, arrests the wound’s proliferative phase, increases localized catabolism, prolongs pathogenic inflammation and perpetuates wound chronicity. In such circumstances the infected wound may act as a proinflammatory and pro-oxidant organ superimposed onto the host, which eventually intensifies peripheral insulin resistance and disrupts homeostasis. CONCLUSIONS The number of lower-limb amputations remains high worldwide despite continued research efforts on diabetic foot ulcers. Identifying and manipulating the molecular drivers underlying diabetic wound healing failure, and dysimmunity-driven susceptibility to infection will offer more effective therapeutic tools for the diabetic population.

Abstract Introducción. La enfermedad por coronavirus (COVID-19) es actualmente el principal problema de salud pública en el mundo. En este contexto, el análisis automático de tomografías computarizadas (TC) surge como una herramienta diagnóstica complementaria que permite caracterizar hallazgos radiológicos, y categorizar y hacer el seguimiento de pacientes con COVID-19. Sin embargo, este análisis depende de la experiencia de los radiólogos, por lo que las valoraciones pueden ser subjetivas. Objetivo. Explorar representaciones de aprendizaje profundo entrenadas con cortes de TC torácica para diferenciar automáticamente entre los casos de COVID-19 y personas no infectadas. Materiales y métodos. Se usaron dos conjuntos de datos de TC: de SARS-CoV-2 CT (conjunto 1) y de la clínica FOSCAL (conjunto 2). Los modelos de aprendizaje supervisados y previamente entrenados en imágenes naturales, se ajustaron usando aprendizaje por transferencia. La clasificación se llevó a cabo mediante aprendizaje de extremo a extremo y clasificadores tales como los árboles de decisiones y las máquinas de soporte vectorial, alimentados por la representación profunda previamente aprendida. Resultados. El enfoque de extremo a extremo alcanzó una exactitud promedio de 92,33 % (89,70 % de precisión) para el conjunto 1 y de 96,99 % (96,62 % de precisión) para el conjunto-2. La máquina de soporte vectorial alcanzó una exactitud promedio de 91,40 % (precisión del 95,77 %) para el conjunto-1 y del 96,00 % (precisión del 94,74 %) para el conjunto 2. Conclusión. Las representaciones profundas lograron resultados sobresalientes al caracterizar patrones radiológicos usados en la detección de casos de COVID-19 a partir de estudios de TC y demostraron ser una potencial herramienta de apoyo del diagnóstico.

Abstract Introduction: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a significant public health problem worldwide. In this context, CT-scan automatic analysis has emerged as a COVID-19 complementary diagnosis tool allowing for radiological finding characterization, patient categorization, and disease follow-up. However, this analysis depends on the radiologist’s expertise, which may result in subjective evaluations. Objective: To explore deep learning representations, trained from thoracic CT-slices, to automatically distinguish COVID-19 disease from control samples. Materials and methods: Two datasets were used: SARS-CoV-2 CT Scan (Set-1) and FOSCAL clinic’s dataset (Set-2). The deep representations took advantage of supervised learning models previously trained on the natural image domain, which were adjusted following a transfer learning scheme. The deep classification was carried out: (a) via an end-to-end deep learning approach and (b) via random forest and support vector machine classifiers by feeding the deep representation embedding vectors into these classifiers. Results: The end-to-end classification achieved an average accuracy of 92.33% (89.70% precision) for Set-1 and 96.99% (96.62% precision) for Set-2. The deep feature embedding with a support vector machine achieved an average accuracy of 91.40% (95.77% precision) and 96.00% (94.74% precision) for Set-1 and Set-2, respectively. Conclusion: Deep representations have achieved outstanding performance in the identification of COVID-19 cases on CT scans demonstrating good characterization of the COVID-19 radiological patterns. These representations could potentially support the COVID-19 diagnosis in clinical settings.

Resumen El uso, así como el efecto productivo y económico de compuestos herbales en producción cunícola ha sido poco estudiado, por tal motivo el objetivo fue evaluar el efecto de una mezcla poliherbal rica en conjugados de colina a base de Trachyspermum ammi, Achyranthes aspera, Azadirachta indica y Citrullus colocynthis, sobre la respuesta económica y productiva de conejos para carne. Para lo cual se utilizaron 40 conejos Nueva Zelanda X California (30 días de edad), los cuales fueron aleatorizados en cinco grupos (0.0, 200, 400, 600 y 800 mg kg-1 de MS poliherbal, BioCholina®), el experimento tuvo una duración de 34 días. Se evaluó la respuesta productiva, calidad de la carne e indicadores económicos. Se utilizó un diseño completamente al azar con un arreglo de polinomios ortogonales para determinar efectos lineales y cuadráticos, con un nivel de significancia de P<0.05. Los resultados en cuanto a los parámetros productivos fueron similares entre tratamientos, excepto consumo de alimento (P=0.006) y conversión alimenticia (P=0.005) con un efecto linealmente a mayor concentración del poliherbal. La inclusión del poliherbal incrementó pH en carne (lineal, P=0.004) y coordenada b* (lineal, P=0.009), se observó que el tratamiento con 200 mg presentó los mejores indicadores económicos mejorando en 9 unidades porcentuales la razón ingresos-egresos. Se concluye que la adición de mezclas poliherbales a base de conjugado de colina natural no mejoró las variables productivas, sin embargo, se marca una tendencia económica favorable con la adición de 200 mg kg-1 de MS.

Abstract The use, as well as the productive and economic effect of herbal compounds on rabbit production has been little studied, for this reason, the objective was to evaluate the effect of a polyherbal mixture rich in choline conjugates based on Trachyspermum ammi, Achyranthes aspera, Azadirachta indica and Citrullus colocynthis, on the economic and productive response of meat rabbits. For this, 40 New Zealand X California rabbits (30-d old) were used, which were randomized into five groups (0.0, 200, 400, 600 and 800 mg kg-1 of polyherbal DM, BioCholina®), the experiment lasted 34 days. The productive response, meat quality and economic indicators were evaluated. A completely randomized design with an arrangement of orthogonal polynomials was used to determine linear and quadratic effects, with a significance level of P<0.05. The results in terms of production parameters were similar between treatments, except for feed consumption (P=0.006) and feed conversion (P=0.005) with a linear effect at higher concentration of the polyherbal. The inclusion of the polyherbal increased pH in meat (linear, P=0.004) and coordinate b* (linear, P=0.009), it was observed that the treatment with 200 mg showed the best economic indicators, improving the income-expense ratio by 9 percentage units. It is concluded that the addition of polyherbal mixtures based on natural choline conjugate did not improve the productive variables, however, a favorable economic trend is marked with the addition of 200 mg kg-1 of DM.
