Resumo: O presente trabalho buscou analisar o nível da intensificação da pecuária nos anos de 2006 e 2017, nos quais estão disponibilizados os dados do Censo Agropecuário realizados pelo IBGE, no estado de Goiás – GO (Centro-Oeste). Utilizando técnicas de análise fatorial, aglomerados hierárquicos e não hierárquicos com base em dados do Censo Agropecuário, LAPIG/UFG e Agrodefesa – GO, foi possível gerar um índice de intensificação da pecuária para as atividades de corte e de leite. Os resultados indicam uma intensificação significativa da pecuária com aumento de 45% na taxa de lotação animal, além de aumento de 66% na suplementação animal e 49% de produtividade de leite por vaca. A pecuária é uma atividade setorizada, que se desenvolve de maneira mais intensa em zonas específicas. Além disso, a atividade leiteira possui um nível de intensificação superior à atividade de corte. Em 2006 foram classificados com alta intensificação 47 municípios para pecuária de corte e 104 municípios para pecuária leiteira. Já em 2017, o número de municípios com alta intensificação foram de 49 e 111, respectivamente.

Abstract: This study aimed to analyze the level of livestock intensification in the years 2006 and 2017, in which data from the Agricultural Census conducted by IBGE are available, in the state of Goiás – GO (Central-West region). Using factor analysis techniques, hierarchical and non-hierarchical clusters based on data from the Agricultural Census, LAPIG/UFG and Agrodefesa – GO, it was possible to generate an index of intensification of livestock for beef and dairy cattle. The results indicate a significant intensification of livestock with an increase of 45% in stocking rate, in addition to an increase of 66% in animal supplementation, and 49% in milk productivity per cow. Livestock is a sectorized activity, which develops more intensely in specific areas. In addition, dairy activity has a higher level of intensification than beef cattle activity. In 2006, 47 counties for beef cattle and 104 counties for dairy farming were classified as high intensification. In 2017, the number of municipalities with high intensification was 49 and 111, respectively.

Resumo A pecuária no Brasil teve papel relevante na formação do espaço rural. Tal processo ocasionou um passivo ambiental, pois se desenvolveu sem considerar os impactos ao meio ambiente, relativos à erosão e compactação dos solos, emissão de gases de efeito estufa (GEE), além do uso intensivo de terra e dos recursos hídricos. Em significativa parcela das propriedades o manejo inadequado resultou em pastagens com níveis de degradação. A literatura aponta a importância da intensificação da tecnologia como forma de garantir pastagens sustentáveis. Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar a relação entre nível tecnológico de produção de bovinos e de degradação de pastagens na Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Vermelho, em Goiás - Brasil. Esta área é considerada como representativa da pecuária no cerrado brasileiro. Foi utilizada amostra estratificada por compartimentos com 60 estabelecimentos agropecuários. Utilizaram-se as técnicas de análise de correspondência múltipla, análise de cluster e regressão beta para obter o Índice de Degradação de Pastagens (IDP). Verificaram-se associações bivariadas entre o Índice Tecnológico (IT) e as variáveis: renda, relevo e tamanho da propriedade. Foi possível constatar o emprego de maior nível tecnológico nas maiores propriedades e em terrenos mais planos. Também se constatou que o maior nível tecnológico propicia maior remuneração aos gestores. Porém não se observou relação entre a tecnologia empregada nos estabelecimentos e taxa de lotação animal, o que pode comprometer os resultados econômicos e bem-estar animal. Assim, como não foi observada associação entre índice tecnológico e índice de degradação de pastagens, sugerindo ocorrência de degradação de pastagens, mesmo quando do uso de tecnologias na produção de bovinos.

Abstract In Brasil ranching has played a fundamental role in the occupation of rural land. This process results in a series of environmental impacts, such as the erosion and compaction of the soil, and the emission of greenhouse gases, in addition to the intensive use of the soil and water resources. In part of the properties, inadequate management resulted in pastures with degradation levels. The literature points out the importance of intensifying technology as a way to guarantee sustainable pastures. The present study aims to identify and analyze the relationships between the technological level level of cattle production and the degradation of pastures in the Vermelho River basin in Goiás, central Brazil. This area is considered to be representative of livestock in the Brazilian Cerrado. The sample consisted of 60 cattle ranches, selected from each of the three sectors of the Vermelho River basin. The data were analyzed using a Multiple Correspondence Analysis, cluster analysis, and Beta regression to obtain Pasture Degradation Indice (PDI). Bivariate associations were found between the Technological Index (TI) and three variables - the manager’s income, topographic relief, and the size of the property. It was possible to verify the use of a higher technological level in the largest properties as well as in flatter areas. It was also found that the higher technological level provides higher remuneration to managers. However, there was no relationship between the technology used in the establishments and the cattle density, which can reduces profitability economic and animal welfare. There was also no association between TI and PDI, suggesting pasture degradation, even when using more intensive technologies in cattle production.

ABSTRACT This study analyzed the productive strategies and technology of beef producers in the Vermelho basin in Goiás, Brazil. The data were used to develop a technological index, applicable to the local beef production systems. The data were obtained using questionnaires. A set of 60 properties was selected to provide a representative sample of the relief and soil quality within the study area. The data were analyzed using multiple correspondence, cluster analysis, and beta regression procedures. The variables that most contributed to the definition of the technological level were identified. The variables and production units each formed three clusters, corresponding to three levels of technology: low, mid, and high. The data were used to calculate a predictive index for the analysis and mapping of the technology used in the study area. High cattle densities were found in systems with low technology, indicating low productivity and profitability, and reduced environmental sustainability.

A dinâmica de ocupação do território brasileiro apresenta padrões que a literatura define como "frentes". Um processo posterior a este refere-se à chamada Fronteira Agrícola, que se caracteriza pelo movimento de transformação na forma de uso, com base na inserção de novas tecnologias. Este trabalho buscou compreender o recente processo de expansão da cana em Goiás, partindo do pressuposto de que o avanço do setor sucroalcooleiro, neste Estado, representa uma nova etapa de expansão da Fronteira Agrícola. Foram utilizados produtos cartográficos, além de dados referentes a usinas, fornecidos pelo Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento, os quais foram manipulados com o auxílio do SIG ArcMap 9.2 e tratados estatisticamente com o editor de gráficos do Excel. O estudo baseou-se na representação do modelo de expansão da cana-de-açúcar, de 2005 a 2010, além de discussão acerca da localização de usinas, em relação ao padrão espacial que seguem. Por fim, discutiu-se a dinâmica de uso do solo, entre 2002 e 2009, com ênfase na inserção de áreas de produção da cana-de-açúcar. Os dados permitiram deduzir que o Estado de Goiás se insere neste novo processo de expansão de Fronteiras Agrícolas, no qual, ao contrário do que é defendido politicamente, a expansão ocorre principalmente em áreas de agricultura já consolidadas e de Cerrado, seguindo o eixo preferencial centro-sudoeste, que representa o mesmo do avanço da fronteira agrícola na década de 1970, sobretudo com grãos, em particular a soja.

The Brazilian territory occupation dynamics presents patterns defined by literature as "fronts". A previous process refers to an Agricultural Frontier characterized by the transformation movement towards its using form, based on new technologies implementation. This study aimed to understand the recent sugar cane expansion process in the Goiás State, Brazil, assuming that the sucroalcohol sector progress represents a new stage in the Agricultural Frontier expansion. Cartographic products, as well as data on sugar refineries supplied by the Brazilian Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento, which were manipulated with the aid of the GIS ArcMap 9.2 and statistically treated by the Excel's charts editor, were used. This study was based on the sugar cane expansion pattern representation between 2005 and 2010, besides the discussion on sugar refineries location, concerning their current spatial pattern. Finally, the soil use dynamics between 2002 and 2009, focusing on the sugar cane implementation areas, was evaluated. The data allowed to deduce that the Goiás State takes part in this new Agricultural Frontier expansion process, in which, opposing what is politically stated, the expansion occurs mainly on Savannah and consolidated agricultural areas towards a center-southeast axis, which represents the same Agricultural Frontier expansion in the 1970's, especially with grains, particularly soybean.
