ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the agreement between body mass index (BMI) parameters applied to children aged six to ten years in the city of Montes Claros (MG), Brazil with national and international criteria, also calculating their sensitivity and specificity regarding excess weight screening. Methods: A sample comprising 4151 children aged six to ten years was assessed, with height and body mass determined for BMI calculation. The obtained values were classified according to cutoff points established by the World Health Organization (WHO), International Obesity Task Force (IOTF), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Conde & Monteiro, and a recent local proposal. The agreement index between the mentioned criteria was calculated and thereafter the sensitivity and specificity. Results: The local proposal was proven to be highly consistent in most combinations, especially concerning the excess weight criteria of the World Health Organization (WHO) (k=0.895). Regarding excess weight, the local proposal presented sensitivity and specificity values of 0.8680 and 0.9956, respectively, indicating high BMI discrimination power. Conclusions: The locally applied BMI parameters for children aged six to ten years represent a valid, highly viable and practical proposal for excess weight screening in this population group, improving professional decision-making in their follow-up.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar a concordância dos parâmetros de índice de massa corporal (IMC) para crianças com idade de seis a dez anos da cidade de Montes Claros/MG com os demais critérios de abrangência nacional e internacional, bem como sua sensibilidade e especificidade no rastreio do excesso de peso. Métodos: Foi utilizada uma amostra de 4.151 crianças de seis a dez anos, sendo mensuradas estatura e massa corporal para a determinação do IMC. Os valores obtidos foram classificados de acordo com os pontos de corte da World Health Organization (WHO), International Obesity Task Force (IOTF), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Conde & Monteiro e uma recente proposta local. Calculou-se o índice de concordância entre os critérios mencionados e, em seguida, a sensibilidade e a especificidade. Resultados: A proposta local mostrou-se altamente concordante na maioria das combinações, principalmente para o excesso de peso com a WHO (k=0,895). Com relação ao excesso de peso, a proposta local apresentou valores de 0,8680 e 0,9956 para a sensibilidade e especificidade respectivamente, mostrando alto poder de discriminação do IMC. Conclusões: Conclui-se que os parâmetros locais de IMC para crianças de seis a dez anos representam uma proposta válida, altamente viável e utilizável para o rastreio do excesso de peso desse grupo populacional, melhorando a tomada de decisão profissional no acompanhamento de tais indivíduos.

ABSTRACT: The research was conducted to test the hypothesis that the inclusion of coffee husk (Coffea sp.) would improve the fermentative characteristics and quality of pearl millet silage (Pennisetumglaucum). Thus, the objective was to assess the effect of the inclusion of different levels of coffee husk in pearl millet silage on the chemical composition, fermentative characteristics and degradability in situ of silage. The experimental design used was completely randomized and the treatments consisted of the silage of the whole pearl millet plant with the inclusion of increasing levels of coffee husk: 0%, 7%, 14% and 21%, based on natural matter. After 60 days of fermentation, the silages were evaluated for chemical characteristics, fermentative, degradability in situ dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF). The inclusion of coffee husk did not alter (P > 0.05) the contents of crude protein (11.94%), NDF (44.89%) and total digestible nutrients (65.09%). There were increases in the concentrations of DM and fiber in acid detergent, accompanied by a reduction in the concentrations of mineral matter and ether extract, as the proportion of coffee husks in silages increased. There was an increase in the lignin content up to the level of 7.59% inclusion of the coffee husk. There was no effect of the inclusion of the coffee husk on the pH of the silage (3.60). However, the inclusion of coffee husk resulted in a reduction in temperature, gas losses, and degradability in situ of silage DM and NDF. It is recommended to include coffee husk up to the level of 14.0% of the natural matter to improve the fermentation pattern and the quality of the pearl millet silage.

RESUMO: A pesquisa foi conduzida para testar a hipótese de que a inclusão de casca de café (Coffea sp.) melhoraria as características fermentativas e a qualidade da silagem de milheto (Pennisetum glaucum). Assim, objetivou-se avaliar o efeito da inclusão de diferentes níveis da casca de café na ensilagem de milheto sobre a composição química, características fermentativas e degradabilidade in situ da silagem. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado e os tratamentos constituíram-se pela silagem da planta inteira de milheto com a inclusão de níveis crescentes de casca de café: 0%, 7%, 14% e 21%, com base na matéria natural. Após 60 dias de fermentação, as silagens foram avaliadas quanto às características químicas, fermentativas, degradabilidade in situ da matéria seca (MS) e da fibra em detergente neutro (FDN). A inclusão da casca de café não alterou (P > 0,05) os teores de proteína bruta (11,94%), FDN (44,89%) e nutrientes digestíveis totais (65,09%). Houve aumentos nas concentrações de MS e fibra em detergente ácido, acompanhados de uma redução nas concentrações de matéria mineral e extrato etéreo, à medida que se aumentou a participação da casca de café nas silagens. Houve um aumento no teor de lignina até o nível de 7,59% de inclusão da casca de café. Não houve efeito da inclusão da casca de café sobre o pH da silagem (3,60). Entretanto, a inclusão de casca de café acarretou na redução da temperatura, perdas por gases, degradabilidade in situ da MS e FDN da silagem. Recomenda-se a inclusão de casca de café até o nível de 14,0% da matéria natural para melhoria do padrão de fermentação e da qualidade da silagem de milheto.

Objective: the investigation of physical, lifestyle and socioeconomic features that may be associated with the occurrence of prostate cancer in Brazil. Methods: a microdata base referring to the 2019 National Health Survey in Brazil was used, with the selection of 42,799 male individuals; this group was analyzed using statistical methods and machine learning modeling (logistic regression and decision tree). Results: the models applied allowed us to identify with a good level of accuracy individuals with prostate cancer diagnosis (DCP), in addition to groups with specific features more strongly associated with such a disease. Conclusion: the models indicate a significant influence of socioeconomic, physical and dietary factors on the frequency of DCP in the analyzed group. The high level of accuracy and sensitivity of the models demonstrates the potential of machine learning methods for predicting DCP.

Objetivo: investigar características físicas, de estilo de vida y socioeconómicas que pueden estar asociadas con la aparición de cáncer de próstata en Brasil. Métodos: se utilizó una base de microdatos referente a la Encuesta Nacional de Salud de 2019, con la selección de 42.799 individuos del sexo masculino; este grupo fue analizado mediante métodos estadísticos y modelado de machine learning (regresión logística y árbol de decisión). Resultados: los modelos aplicados permitieron identificar con buen nivel de exactitud a los individuos con diagnóstico de cáncer de próstata (DCP), además de grupos con características específicas más fuertemente asociadas a esta enfermedad. Conclusión: los modelos indican influencia significativa de factores socioeconómicos, físicos y dietéticos sobre la frecuencia de DCP en el grupo analizado. El alto nivel de exactitud y sensibilidad de los modelos demuestra el potencial de los métodos de machine learning para predecir la DCP.

Resultados: os modelos aplicados permitiram identificar com bom nível de acurácia os indivíduos que receberam o diagnóstico de câncer de próstata (DCP), além de grupos com características específicas mais fortemente associados a esta doença. Conclusão: os modelos indicam uma influência significativa de fatores socioeconômicos, físicos e alimentares na frequência de DCP no grupo analisado. O alto nível de acurácia e sensibilidade dos modelos demonstra o potencial dos métodos de machine learning para a previsão de DCP.

This study aims to identify and analyze factors associated with Food Insecurity (FI), trends and spatial distributions for geographical strata. The hypothesis of worsening of the outcome of severe FI, measured by the Brazilian Food Insecurity Scale (EBIA), in households as an effect of the crisis and/or the austerity policy, was investigated. The article involves studies with cross-sectional design and mixed ecological of spatio-temporal trends, based on 4 national IBGE surveys. It was adopted a weight calibration procedure according to population distribution by gender and age group, as well as estimation and modeling methods that incorporate effects of the sample design. Poisson regression with robust estimation of variance was used to estimate prevalence ratios of severe FI at the etiological level. For the ecological level, two multilevel modeling approaches were employed for repeated measures of strata: multiple log-log regression for associations; and, modeling of splines for trend estimation. The findings point to impacts of the current austerity, with changes in trends in the Bolsa Família Program and reflections on the increase in severe FI. It is projected an increase in FI and distance from the achievement of the SDG nº 2 in 2030 by Brazil, despite the success obtained in 2014 for MDG nº 1.

Este estudio tiene como objetivo identificar y analizar los factores asociados a la Inseguridad Alimentaria (IF), tendencias y distribución espacial por estratos geográficos. Se investigó la hipótesis de empeoramiento del resultado de la IF severa, medida por la Escala Brasileña de Inseguridad Alimentaria (EBIA), en los hogares como efecto de la crisis y/o de la política de austeridad. El artículo trata de estudios con diseño transversal para análisis ecológicos transversales y mixtos de tendencias espacio-temporales, a partir de 4 encuestas nacionales del IBGE. Se adoptó un procedimiento de calibración de peso de acuerdo con la distribución por sexo y grupo de edad y métodos de estimación y modelado que incorporan efectos del diseño de la muestra. Se utilizó la regresión de Poisson con estimación robusta de la varianza para estimar los índices de prevalencia de la IA grave a nivel etiológico. Para el nivel ecológico, se emplearon dos enfoques de modelado multinivel para medidas repetidas de estratos: regresión logarítmica múltiple para asociaciones; y modelado de splines para la estimación de tendencias. Los hallazgos apuntan a impactos de la actual austeridad, con cambios de tendencia en el Programa Bolsa Família y reflejos sobre el aumento de la IF severa. Se proyecta un aumento de la IA y distancia de la consecución del objetivo nº 2 de los ODS en 2030 por parte de Brasil, a pesar del éxito obtenido en 2014 para el ODM nº 1.

Este estudo visa identificar e analisar fatores associados à Insegurança Alimentar (IA), tendências e distribuição espacial para estratos geográficos. Investigou-se a hipótese de piora do desfecho de IA grave, medido pela Escala Brasileira de Insegurança Alimentar (EBIA), nos domicílios como efeito da crise e/ou da política de austeridade. O artigo envolve estudos com desenho transversal para análises seccionais e ecológico misto de tendências espaço-temporais, a partir de 4 inquéritos nacionais do IBGE. Adotou-se procedimento de calibração dos pesos segundo distribuição por sexo e faixa etária e métodos de estimação e modelagem que incorporam efeitos do desenho amostral. A regressão de Poisson com estimação robusta de variância foi empregada para estimar razões de prevalências de IA grave em nível etiológico. Para o nível ecológico, empregou-se duas abordagens de modelagem multinível para medidas repetidas de estratos: regressão múltipla log-log para associações; e, modelagem de splines para estimação de tendências. Os achados apontam impactos da austeridade vigente, com mudanças de tendências no Programa Bolsa Família e reflexos sobre o aumento da IA grave. Projeta-se o aumento da IA e afastamento do alcance do objetivo nº 2 dos ODS em 2030 pelo Brasil, a despeito do sucesso obtido em 2014 para o ODM nº 1.

Abstract Drag crisis has been described as a drop in the drag coefficient (Cd). This procedure was lately assessed in able-bodied cyclists in time trial position by computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the phenomenon of the drag crisis by computer fluid dynamics in transradial and transtibial amputee cyclists in the upright position. A male elite-level cyclist was recruited for this research. The subject was scanned (3D geometry with a 3D Scan) with his competition bicycle, helmet, suit, and shoes. Consequently, transradial and transtibial 3D models were created editing the able-bodied 3D model. To perform the CFD analyses, a domain measuring 7 x 2.5 x 2.5 m (length, width and height, respectively) was created around each bicycle-cyclist model. The domains were meshed with more than 42 million elements. Numerical simulations by CFD were performed in fluent numerical for speeds between 1 m/s and 13 m/s, with increments of 1 m/s. The total Cd decreased with speed. It ranged from 0.84 to 0.55 in the able-bodied, 0.86 to 0.64 in the transradial and 0.90 to 0.61 in the transtibial. The drag crisis phenomenon was observed between 1m/s and 4m/s in all models.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the influence of temperature on torsional strength and angular deflection of two experimental NiTi rotary instruments manufactured from Blue and Gold thermal treatments and with identical cross-sections. A total of 40 experimental NiTi instruments 25.06 and with a triangular cross-section and manufactured from Blue and Gold thermal treatments were used (n=20). The torsional test was performed in the 3 mm from the tip of the instrument according to ISO 3630-1. The torsional test evaluated the torsional strength and angular deflection to failure at room temperature (21°C ± 1° C) and body temperature (36°C ±1°C). The fractured surface of each fragment was observed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Data were analyzed using an unpaired t test for inter and intra-group comparison and the level of significance was set at 5%. The results showed that the body temperature did not affect the torsional strength and angular deflection of the instruments when compared with room temperature (P>0.05). However, at body temperature, the Blue NiTi instruments presented significantly lower angular deflection in comparison with Gold NiTi instruments (P<0.05). There was no significant difference regarding the torsional strength of the instruments at body temperature (P>0.05). The temperature did not affect the torsional strength of the instruments manufactured from Blue and Gold technology. However, the Blue NiTi instruments presented significantly lower angular deflection than Gold instruments at 36°C temperature.

Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a influência da temperatura nas propriedades de torção (resistência à torção e deflexão angular) de dois instrumentos rotatórios experimentais de NiTi fabricados com secção triangu.ar e tratamentos térmicos Blue e Gold. Quarenta instrumentos experimentais de NiTi 25.06 com tratamento térmico Blue e Gold foram usados (n= 20). Foi avaliada a resistência torcional e a deflexão angular até a fratura na temperatura ambiente (21°C ± 1°C) e corporal (36°C ± 1°C). O teste torcional foi realizado nos 3 mm da ponta dos instrumentos de acordo com a ISO 3630-1. A superfície fraturada de cada instrumento foi observada pelo microscópio eletrônico de varredura (MEV). Os dados foram analisados por meio do teste t não pareado para a comparação inter e intragrupos e o nível de significância à 5%. Os resultados demonstraram que a temperatura corporal não afetou a resistência a torção e deflexão angular quando comparada com a temperatura ambiente (P>0.05). No entanto, na temperatura de 36°C o instrumento com tratamento térmico Blue apresentou menor deflexão angular quando comparado com o Gold (P<0.05). Não houve diferença significante entre os dois instrumentos em relação a resistência à torção. A temperatura corporal não modificou a resistência torcional dos instrumentos fabricados com tecnologia Blue e Gold. No entanto, os instrumentos com NiTi Blue apresentaram menor deflexão angular do que o Gold a 36°C.

Abstract One of the appeals of the rising organic market is the guarantee of offering healthier foods with less impact on the environment, from a more sustainable production method. Dairy market is one of the most popular in the sector but studies on organic dairy products safety are still scarce. The objective of this study was to evaluate the microbiological quality of organic and conventional Minas Frescal cheese samples, and the antimicrobial sensitivity of isolated strains of Escherichia coli and coagulase-positive Staphylococcus to different antimicrobials. Listeria spp. and Salmonella spp. was not detected in any of the samples analyzed. Regarding coagulase-positive Staphylococcus, 70% showed higher counts than that is established by Brazilian legislation, but with no significant difference between the systems. In the determination of the Most Probable Number of E. coli was observed significant difference between the systems, with a higher contamination index in cheeses derived from the organic system. All strains isolated showed 100% resistance to β-lactams and both in the conventional and organic systems were observed multiple resistance characteristics. Considering the similarity of the results obtained, it is necessary to analyze other parameters such as production system, herd health and good manufacturing practices to compare deeply both systems.

Abstract The Metropolis Statute strengthened the need for a territorial approach to planning, demanding new forms of governance that define new responsibilities in decision-making processes. Metropolitan territorial planning needs new cartographies. This work presents a new conceptual matrix for an adaptation of Green and Blue Infrastructure (GBI) considering the context of the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Paraíba and North Coast (RMVPLN), São Paulo. The GBI, repositioned for the RMVPLN, starts to be understood and expressed as a set of infrastructures (Multitramas), projected in the territories, through cartographic representations, which explore the relationships between three dimensions involved in the historical-geographical and economic constitution of the current metropolis. The projection of these plots as a set of graphic representations with territorial expression is called Cartographies’ Potency. This new metropolitan cartography reveals connections and relationships that enable alternative narratives within metropolitan territorial planning for the development strategies of the disputed territories.

Resumo O Estatuto da Metrópole fortaleceu a necessidade de um olhar territorial para o planejamento, demandando novas formas de governança que definem novas responsabilidades nos processos para tomadas de decisão. O planejamento territorial metropolitano necessita de novas cartografias. Este trabalho apresenta uma nova matriz conceitual para uma adaptação da Trama Verde e Azul (TVA) considerando o contexto da Região Metropolitana do Vale do Paraíba e Litoral Norte (RMVPLN), no estado de São Paulo. A TVA, (re)posicionada para a RMVPLN, passa a ser entendida e expressa enquanto um conjunto de Tramas (Multitramas), projetadas nos territórios, por meio de representações cartográficas, que exploram os relacionamentos entrelaçados entre três diferentes dimensões envolvidas na constituição histórico-geográfica e econômica da atual metrópole. A projeção destas tramas, como um conjunto de representações gráficas com expressão territorial, é denominada por Cartografias de Potência. Esta nova cartografia metropolitana revela conexões e relações, que possibilitam narrativas alternativas, dentro do planejamento territorial metropolitano, para as estratégias de desenvolvimento dos territórios em disputa.

Abstract Lagoa do São Bento is a coastal restinga wetland, remnant of a paleolake, located in Maricá, RJ. The study aimed to inventory native aquatic plants, make a floristic comparison with other coastal lagoons and analyze the regeneration of this community after anthropic impacts. In the floristic analysis of aquatic plants, 45 species were listed, 39 of which are Angiosperms and six are Ferns. Aeschynomene paniculata, Hymenachne amplexicaulis, Montrichardia linifera and Torenia thouarsii are new records for the municipality and Tabebuia cassinoides is threatened. Emerging plants (21 spp.) stand out, followed by amphibians (16 spp.), free floating (4 spp.), fixed floating (3 spp.) and tolerant (1 sp.). The comparison showed greater similarity with the Jacarepiá lagoon, in Saquarema, sharing 21 species. The phytosociological inventory listed 87 species, 83 of which were Angiosperms and four Ferns. The species with the highest IVI were: Fuirena umbellata, Pleroma gaudichaudianum, Xyris jupicai, Typha domingensis, Salvinia aff. auriculata, Eleocharis interstincta, Rhynchospora gigantea, Nymphoides humboldtiana, Nymphaea caerulea and Clitoria laurifolia. Shannon, Simpson and equity indexes were 3.83, 0.03 and 0.85, respectively. Native aquatic species represent the majority of the total inventoried (54%), with a considerable supply of exotic and ruderal, whose colonization reflects the anthropic interventions.

Resumo A Lagoa do São Bento é uma área úmida costeira de restinga, resquício de uma paleolagoa, localizada em Maricá, RJ. O estudo objetivou inventariar as plantas aquáticas nativas, fazer a comparação florística com outras lagoas costeiras e analisar a regeneração dessa comunidade após impactos antrópicos. Na análise florística de plantas aquáticas foram listadas 45 espécies, das quais 39 são Angiospermas e seis são Samambaias. Aeschynomene paniculata, Hymenachne amplexicaulis, Montrichardia linifera e Torenia thouarsii são novos registros para o município e Tabebuia cassinoides é ameaçada de extinção. Sobressaem as plantas emergentes (21 spp.), seguida de anfíbias (16 spp.), flutuante livres (4 spp.), flutuante fixas (3 spp.) e tolerantes (1 sp.). A comparação mostrou maior similaridade com a lagoa de Jacarepiá, em Saquarema, compartilhando 21 espécies. O inventário fitossociológico listou 87 espécies, sendo 83 Angiospermas e quatro Samambaias. As espécies com maior IVI foram: Fuirena umbellata, Pleroma gaudichaudianum, Xyris jupicai, Typha domingensis, Salvinia aff. auriculata, Eleocharis interstincta, Rhynchospora gigantea, Nymphoides humboldtiana, Nymphaea caerulea e Clitoria laurifolia. Os índices de Shannon, Simpson e equabilidade foram 3,83, 0,03 e 0,85, respectivamente. As aquáticas nativas representam a maior parte do total inventariado (54%), havendo um aporte considerável de exóticas e ruderais, cuja colonização reflete as intervenções antrópicas.

ABSTRACT This paper presents an actual application of the FITradeoff method to support strategic decisions on military budgets. Using Optimization Techniques and a particular Multicriteria Decision Aid method to assess budget allocation efficiency, a model was built for the Brazilian Defense Ministry. A case study of the Brazilian Navy is described in this paper, whereby this model was used. The focus is on the adaptations of FITradeoff necessary to make it suitable for different groups of decision-makers and staff, performing different tasks on the process. The FITradeoff proposal allowed a group decision with different levels suitable to the military context and high-level strategic decisions. The use of multicriteria in this approach provides a meaningful utility measure. This provides a score value representing the desirability of an alternative, in terms of its attainment of the institution’s strategic objectives. The approach contributed to an approximate gain of 15% in budget efficiency in 2022.

ABSTRACT A study was undertaken comparing the water requirements of two common bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivars to generate specific recommendations aimed at optimizing water use. To accomplish this work, the agronomic performance, responsiveness to water and water productivity of these two common bean cultivars of determinate and indeterminate growth habits were identified. The 2-year experiment was carried out during the winter growing season in the southeast of Brazil. Cultivars IAC Imperador, with an early season of determinate growth habit, and IPR Campos Gerais, having a mid-season of indeterminate growth habit, were subjected to five irrigation levels (54, 70, 77, 100, and 132 % of the crop evapotranspiration). Water deficit affected agronomic performance, reducing plant height (by up to 29 %), leaf area index (by up to 40 %), soil cover fraction (by up to 28 %), and grain yield (GY - by up to 31 %), in both cultivars. In contrast, excess water was more detrimental to cultivar IAC Imperador. Cultivar IPR Campos Gerais produced 18 % more than GY, showing superior water productivity and response to irrigation depth than IAC Imperador. Out of all the variables evaluated, the soil cover fraction correlated the most with grain yield in both common bean cultivars during the 2-year study. In other words, cover fraction evaluation in common bean allows for estimating crop production potential, which helps producers and technicians in their decision making regarding management practices. Thus, a cultivar directly affects water use in common bean production, thereby suggesting the need for a or water conservation strategy and sustainability of irrigated common bean production.

ABSTRACT: We described the clinical and anatomopathological findings observed in a case of nasal leiomyosarcoma in a five-year-old male Quarter Mile horse, whose main complaints were decreased sports performance and bilateral purulent nasal discharge. The nodule was observed in the nasal cavity, obstructing the left nostril and associated with purulent drainage. The nodule was of irregular shape and yellow color, measuring 19.4 cm × 6.9 cm × 4.3 cm in size, with coalescent multifocal areas that were brownish, friable, opaque, and fetid. When cut, the surface was compact, grayish-white, and smooth with yellow, friable, irregular multifocal areas, measuring 1-3.2 cm in diameter. Histopathological examination showed spindle-shaped neoplastic cells, which was negative on Masson’s trichromic stain. A diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma was established based on the morphotintorial aspects of neoplastic cells and confirmed through immunohistochemistry, with positive immunostaining for antibodies 1A4, HHF35, desmin, and S100. Leiomyosarcoma primarily affects the nasal cavity of horses and should be included in the differential diagnosis of diseases that affect the nasal cavity and cause nasal obstruction associated with dyspnea.

RESUMO: Descreve-se os achados clínicos e anatomopatológicos observados em um caso de leiomiossarcoma nasal em um equino, Quarto de Milha, macho, de cinco anos de idade, com queixa principal de diminuição do rendimento esportivo e secreção nasal purulenta bilateral. Na cavidade nasal, observou-se um nódulo obstruindo a narina esquerda associada à secreção purulenta. O nódulo era de superfície irregular, amarelada, brilhante, fibroelástica, medindo 19,4 x 6,9 x 4,3cm de tamanho, com áreas multifocais a coalescente acastanhadas, friáveis, opacas e fétidas. Ao corte, a superfície era compacta, branco-acinzentada e lisa com áreas multifocais amarelas, friáveis e irregulares, medindo 1-3,2 cm de diâmetro. No exame histopatológico foi observado proliferação de células neoplásicas fusiformes, que foram negativas na coloração de Tricrômico de Masson. O diagnóstico de leiomiossarcoma foi estabelecido com base nos aspectos morfotintoriais das células neoplásicas e confirmado através da imuno-histoquímica, no qual houve imunomarcação positiva para os anticorpos 1A4, HHF35, Desmina e S100. O leiomiossarcoma pode afetar primariamente a cavidade nasal de equinos, devendo ser incluído no diagnóstico diferencial de doenças que afetam a cavidade nasal e que provocam quadros de obstrução nasal associado a dispneia.

Abstract Background Cardiovascular complications of COVID-19 are important aspects of the disease’s pathogenesis and prognosis. Evidence on the prognostic role of troponin and myocardial injury in Latin American hospitalized COVID-19 patients is still scarce. Objectives To evaluate myocardial injury as independent predictor of in-hospital mortality and invasive mechanical ventilation support in hospitalized patients, from the Brazilian COVID-19 Registry. Methods This cohort study is a substudy of the Brazilian COVID-19 Registry, conducted in 31 Brazilian hospitals of 17 cities, March-September 2020. Primary outcomes included in-hospital mortality and invasive mechanical ventilation support. Models for the primary outcomes were estimated by Poisson regression with robust variance, with statistical significance of p<0.05. Results Of 2,925 patients (median age of 60 years [48-71], 57.1% men), 27.3% presented myocardial injury. The proportion of patients with comorbidities was higher among patients with cardiac injury (median 2 [1-2] vs. 1 [0-2]). Patients with myocardial injury had higher median levels of brain natriuretic peptide, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine phosphokinase, N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide, and C-reactive protein than patients without myocardial injury. As independent predictors, C-reactive protein and platelet counts were related to the risk of death, and neutrophils and platelet counts were related to the risk of invasive mechanical ventilation support. Patients with high troponin levels presented a higher risk of death (RR 2.03, 95% CI 1.60-2.58) and invasive mechanical ventilation support (RR 1.87, 95% CI 1.57-2.23), when compared to those with normal troponin levels. Conclusion Cardiac injury was an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality and the need for invasive mechanical ventilation support in hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Resumo Fundamento As complicações cardiovasculares da COVID-19 são aspectos importantes da patogênese e do prognóstico da doença. Evidências do papel prognóstico da troponina e da lesão miocárdica em pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19 na América Latina são ainda escassos. Objetivos Avaliar a lesão miocárdica como preditor independente de mortalidade hospitalar e suporte ventilatório mecânico em pacientes hospitalizados, do registro brasileiro de COVID-19. Métodos Este estudo coorte é um subestudo do registro brasileiro de COVID-19, conduzido em 31 hospitais brasileiros de 17 cidades, de março a setembro de 2020. Os desfechos primários incluíram mortalidade hospitalar e suporte ventilatório mecânico invasivo. Os modelos para os desfechos primários foram estimados por regressão de Poisson com variância robusta, com significância estatística de p<0,05. Resultados Dos 2925 pacientes [idade mediana de 60 anos (48-71), 57,1%], 27,3% apresentaram lesão miocárdica. A proporção de pacientes com comorbidades foi maior nos pacientes com lesão miocárdica [mediana 2 (1-2) vs. 1 (0-20)]. Os pacientes com lesão miocárdica apresentaram maiores valores medianos de peptídeo natriurético cerebral, lactato desidrogenase, creatina fosfoquinase, N-terminal do pró-peptídeo natriurético tipo B e proteína C reativa em comparação a pacientes sem lesão miocárdica. Como fatores independentes, proteína C reativa e contagem de plaquetas foram relacionados com o risco de morte, e neutrófilos e contagem de plaquetas foram relacionados ao risco de suporte ventilatório mecânico invasivo. Os pacientes com níveis elevados de troponina apresentaram um maior risco de morte (RR 2,03, IC95% 1,60-2,58) e suporte ventilatório mecânico (RR 1,87;IC95% 1,57-2,23), em comparação àqueles com níveis de troponina normais. Conclusão Lesão cardíaca foi um preditor independente de mortalidade hospitalar e necessidade de suporte ventilatório mecânico em pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19.

ABSTRACT Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate whether the depiction of a fat body for health communication on the Instagram social network by the national societies governing obesity management present elements that enhance weight-related prejudice, with the slim body as a reference. Methods We investigated the last publication quintile, totaling 2,155 publications. A total of 72 images were included and 99 bodies were decoded. The bodies were classified according to positive and negative characteristics into four categories (body presentation, clothing, food and moving behavior) in which the negative characteristics have the potential to enhance the prejudice. The chi-square test was applied to test the difference in the proportion of bias elements associated with body weight between the fat body and the thin body. Results The fat body was more represented (p≤0.05 for all) headless (32.3% vs 9.2%), with bare abdomen (17.6% vs 0%), with a focus on the abdomen (11% vs 0% ), with tight clothes (32.3% vs 0%), sad expression (23.5% vs 6.1%), involved with food of low nutritional value (14.7% vs 0%) and in sedentary behavior ( 11% vs 0%) compared to the thin body. Conclusion National societies that govern management of obesity presented the fat body with more negative elements that enhance the prejudice associated with excess weight, which is an important public health problem.

RESUMO Objetivo O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar se a representação do corpo gordo nas imagens para a comunicação em saúde em perfis de sociedades nacionais diretivas orientadas ao manejo da obesidade na rede social Instagram apresentam elementos que potencializam o preconceito relacionado ao peso, tendo como referência o corpo magro. Métodos Foi analisado o último quintil de postagens, totalizando 2.155 publicações. Setenta e duas imagens foram incluídas e 99 corpos foram decodificados. Os corpos foram classificados em quatro categorias (apresentação do corpo, vestimenta, alimentação e comportamento de movimento) de acordo com características positivas e negativas, sendo que as negativas possuem potencial para reforçar o preconceito. O teste qui-quadrado foi aplicado para testar a diferença na proporção de elementos de preconceito relacionados ao peso entre o corpo gordo e o corpo magro. Resultados O corpo gordo foi mais representado (p≤0,05 para tudo) sem cabeça (32,3% vs 9,2%), com abdomen nu (17,6% vs 0%), com foco no abdomen (11% vs 0%), com roupa apertada (32,3% vs 0%), expressão triste (23,5% vs 6,1%), envolvido com alimento de baixo valor nutricional (14,7% vs 0%) e relacionado a um comportamento sedentário (11% vs 0%) em comparação ao corpo magro. Conclusão Sociedades nacionais diretivas ao manejo da obesidade apresentaram o corpo gordo com mais elementos negativos que reforçam o preconceito relacionado ao peso, sendo importante problema de saúde pública.
