Abstract Systemic Arterial Hypertension is a multifactorial clinical condition associated with severe outcomes such as stroke and death. One of the main modifiable risk factor for hypertension is an unhealthy diet, often characterized by the consumption of ultraprocessed foods such as sweetened beverages. We aimed to investigate the relationship between the consumption of sweetened beverages, both sugar-sweetened and artificially sweetened, and the prevalence of hypertension in adults. A cross-sectional, household, population-based study with 1,162 adults from two Brazilian cities were carried out. The consumption of food groups and sweetened beverages was obtained by food frequency questionnaire and other data were self-reported. Weight, height, and waist circumference were measured. The association between sweetened beverages consumption and hypertension was analyzed using Poisson regression models, expressed as Prevalence Ratio. The prevalence of hypertension was 16.7%, with no significant difference between genders. The prevalence of consumption of sweetened beverages was 70.3% in men and 54.6% in women, being significantly higher in men. Women who consumed sugar-sweetened and artificially sweetened beverages 6 to 7 days per week had 92% higher prevalence of hypertension compared to those who did not consume or consumed at a lower frequency. Furthermore, women who consumed artificially sweetened beverages at least 1 time per week had 3.36 times higher prevalence of hypertension. The habitual consumption of sweetened beverages may be an important risk factor for hypertension, especially the consumption of diet beverages, which are often marketed as healthier than sugar-sweetened beverages.

Resumen La Hipertensión Arterial Sistémica es una condición clínica multifactorial asociada a resultados graves como el ictus y la muerte. Uno de los principales factores de riesgo modificables de la hipertensión es una dieta poco saludable, a menudo caracterizada por el consumo de alimentos ultraprocesados como las bebidas endulzadas. Nuestro objetivo fue investigar la relación entre el consumo de bebidas endulzadas, tanto azucaradas como edulcoradas artificialmente, y la prevalencia de hipertensión en adultos. Se realizó un estudio transversal, domiciliario y poblacional con 1,162 adultos de dos ciudades brasileñas. El consumo de grupos de alimentos y bebidas endulzadas se obtuvo mediante cuestionario de frecuencia de alimentos y los demás datos fueron autoinformados. Se midieron el peso, la talla y el perímetro de la cintura. La asociación entre el consumo de bebidas endulzadas y la hipertensión se analizó mediante modelos de regresión de Poisson, expresados como Ratio de Prevalencia. La prevalencia de hipertensión fue del 16,7%, sin diferencias significativas entre géneros. La prevalencia de consumo de bebidas endulzadas fue del 70,3% en los hombres y del 54,6% en las mujeres, siendo significativamente mayor en los hombres. Las mujeres que consumían bebidas azucaradas y edulcoradas artificialmente entre 6 y 7 días a la semana tenían 92% mayor prevalencia de hipertensión que las que no consumían o consumían con una frecuencia menor. Además, las mujeres que consumían bebidas edulcoradas al menos 1 vez por semana tenían una prevalencia de hipertensión 3,36 veces mayor. Así pues, el consumo habitual de bebidas endulzadas puede ser un importante factor de riesgo de hipertensión, especialmente el consumo de bebidas dietéticas, que a menudo se comercializan como más saludables que las bebidas azucaradas.

ABSTRACT The use of carp pituitary extract (CPE) in fish reproduction may have drawbacks, whereas analogues of mammalian (aGnRHm) or salmon (aGnRHs) gonadotropins containing dopamine inhibitor (DI) may offer greater advantages. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different hormone inducers on the reproduction of Prochilodus brevis males. A total of 44 specimens of P. brevis were divided into six groups, namely, CPE 4.0 mg; saline solution 1.0 mL; aGnRHm + DI 0.3 mg and 0.5 mg; and aGnRHs + DI 0.25 mL and 0.35 mL kg-1 of live weight. The number of ejaculates, seminal volume, curvilinear velocity (VCL), straight-line velocity (VSL), average path velocity (VAP), sperm morphology and concentration, and membrane and DNA integrity were determined. Sample normality was examined using the Shapiro-Wilk test, and homogeneity using the Levene test. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted, followed by Tukey's test to compare means, with statistical significance set at p < 0.05. Notably, all fish induced with CPE 4.0 and aGnRHm + DI demonstrated ejaculation, yielding a greater seminal volume. Sperm concentration under aGnRHs + DI 0.35 exceeded that with aGnRHm + DI 0.3 and CPE 4.0. Regarding velocity, aGnRHm + DI 0.3 outperformed aGnRHs + DI 0.35 in VCL, while aGnRHm + DI 0.3 and 0.5 and aGnRHs + DI 0.25 led to higher VSL than aGnRHs 0.35. Additionally, VAP was elevated under aGnRHm + DI 0.3 and CPE, in contrast to aGnRHs + DI 0.35. Improved sperm morphology was observed with aGnRHm + DI 0.5 and aGnRHs + DI 0.25 compared to aGnRHm + DI 0.3. The remaining parameters did not differ significantly.

Abstract Background Genes and their variants associated with environmental factors contribute to the development of the hypertensive phenotype. The G protein beta 3 subunit gene (GNB3) is involved in the intracellular signaling process, and its variants have been related to susceptibility to arterial hypertension. Objective To determine the association of the GNB3 variant (rs5443:C>T) with arterial hypertension, biochemical parameters, age, and obesity in hypertensive and normotensive individuals from Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Method The identification of variants was performed by real-time PCR, using the TaqMan® system, in 310 samples (155 hypertensive and 155 normotensive). Biochemical analyses (renal function, lipid profile and glycemia) were performed from the serum using UV/Vis spectrophotometry and ion-selective electrode. A multiple logistic regression model was used to identify factors associated with arterial hypertension. The analysis of continuous variables with normal distribution was performed using the unpaired Student’s t test; non-normal data were analyzed using Mann-Whitney. P < 0.05 was considered significant. Results The rs5443:C>T variant was not associated with arterial hypertension in the evaluated population (p = 0.88). Regarding biochemical measures, the T allele was associated with high levels of triglycerides, glucose and uric acid in hypertensive individuals (p < 0.05). Conclusion These results show the importance of genetic diagnosis to prevent the causes and consequences of diseases and imply that the GNB3 rs5443:C>T variant may be associated with changes in the biochemical profile in hypertensive individuals.

Resumo Fundamento Genes e suas variantes associadas a fatores ambientais contribuem para o desenvolvimento do fenótipo hipertenso. O gene da subunidade beta 3 da proteína G ( GNB3 ) está envolvido no processo de sinalização intracelular e suas variantes têm sido relacionadas à suscetibilidade à hipertensão arterial. Objetivo Determinar a associação da variante GNB3 (rs5443:C>T) com a hipertensão arterial, parâmetros bioquímicos, idade e obesidade em indivíduos hipertensos e normotensos de Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais. Método A identificação das variantes foi realizada por PCR em tempo real, utilizando o sistema TaqMan®, em amostras de 310 pacientes (155 hipertensos e 155 normotensos). Análises bioquímicas (função renal, perfil lipídico e glicemia) foram realizadas a partir do soro por meio de espectrofotometria UV/Vis e eletrodo íon-seletivo. Foi utilizado um modelo de regressão logística múltipla para identificar fatores associados à hipertensão arterial. A análise das variáveis contínuas com distribuição normal foi realizada usando o teste t de Student não pareado; dados não normais foram analisados usando o teste de Mann-Whitney. Valores de p < 0,05 foram considerados significativos. Resultados A variante rs5443:C>T não esteve associada à hipertensão arterial na população avaliada (p = 0,88). Em relação às medidas bioquímicas, o alelo T esteve associado a níveis elevados de triglicerídeos, glicose e ácido úrico em indivíduos hipertensos (p < 0,05). Conclusão Os presentes resultados mostram a importância do diagnóstico genético para prevenir as causas e consequências de doenças e sugerem que a variante GNB3 rs5443:C>T pode estar associada a alterações no perfil bioquímico em indivíduos hipertensos.

Abstract This study investigates how Regulatory Ordinance No. 120 of March 17, 2020, reflects the constitutional principles and international treaties recognized by Brazil. This Ordinance is a non-statutory regulation to fight COVID-19 seeking to prohibit the entry of people from Venezuela during this pandemic. This deductive investigation assumes that this measure is not supported by the national and international migration laws incorporated by Brazil. The legal justifications the act used as arguments were found to be inconsistent with the formal requirements for the act itself as per the Brazilian legal framework. Verification of its legal and technical justifications showed a lack of legal, scientific, and empirical support, turning the Ordinance into a target of criticism by Civil Society organizations. In light of national and international law, the analysed instrument can be considered in breach of international technical guidelines for administering vulnerable migrant influxes as is the case of Venezuelans in Brazil.

Resumo Este estudo tem como objetivo investigar como a Portaria nº 120, de 17 de março de 2020 reflete os princípios constitucionais e tratados internacionais reconhecidos pelo Brasil. A presente portaria é apresentada como medida infralegal de combate ao COVID-19 buscando proibir o ingresso de pessoas oriundas da Venezuela. A investigação dedutiva parte do pressuposto de que a portaria não se sustentaria frente às legislações migratórias nacionais e internacionais incorporadas pelo Brasil. Constatou-se que as justificativas legais apresentadas pelo ato infralegal apresentara inconsistências com as exigências formais para o referido ato. Verificou-se que as justificativas jurídicas e técnicas apresentadas pela portaria carecem de lastro legal, científico e empírico, tornando a medida alvo de críticas pela sociedade civil. Considerou-se que, frente ao direito nacional e internacional, o fechamento realizado pelo instrumento infralegal analisado vai de encontro às orientações técnicas para administração de fluxos de migrantes vulneráveis, que incluem Venezuelanos no Brasil.

Abstract The complex epidemiological profile of Brazil, the aging population and the proportion of individuals with disabilities have led to a substantial increase in the demand for rehabilitation. The spatiotemporal distribution of the offer of physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy in the Brazilian public healthcare system from 2007 to 2019 was analyzed for the five macro-regions of the country. Data from the National Register of Health Establishments and census estimates from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics were used. Indicators of the offer of professionals in these fields services and relative changes in the offer were calculated. The spatial distribution of the relative change in the offer was also determined. A regression model with inflection points was adopted for the analysis of the temporal trend. A growing temporal trend was found in the offer of the three professionals in Brazil as a whole and in all regions of the country, but with a slowdown in growth. Differences were observed in the offer among the regions of the country, revealing healthcare inequality that needs to be overcome. The present findings can assist in planning to expand access to rehabilitation services in the country.

Resumo O complexo perfil epidemiológico do país, o envelhecimento populacional e a proporção de pessoas com deficiência apontam para o aumento substancial da demanda por reabilitação. Nesse contexto, foi analisada a distribuição espaço-temporal da oferta de profissionais de fisioterapia, fonoaudiologia e terapia ocupacional no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) de 2007 a 2019 nas cinco regiões do Brasil. Foram utilizados dados do Cadastro Nacional de Estabelecimentos em Saúde, as estimativas censitárias do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística e calculados os indicadores da oferta potencial de profissionais e sua evolução relativa. Foi realizada a distribuição espacial da evolução relativa da oferta potencial de profissionais. Para a análise da tendência temporal, adotou-se o modelo de regressão por pontos de inflexão. Houve tendência temporal crescente na oferta potencial das três categorias profissionais no Brasil e em todas as regiões, mas com uma desaceleração do crescimento. Observaram-se diferenciais entre as profissões e as regiões do país, representando um quadro de desigualdade de oferta que precisa ser superado. Resultados que podem subsidiar o controle social e o planejamento nacional para a ampliação do acesso aos serviços de reabilitação

Método: Revisão integrativa realizada entre abril e maio de 2021 nas bases de dados: LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF e CINAHL. Incluídos estudos publicados entre 2016 a 2021 nos idiomas inglês, espanhol e português com textos completos. Excluídos resumos, editoriais, teses e dissertações. Utilizados como descritores: “pessoal de saúde”, “educação continuada”, “erro médico”, segurança do paciente”e “unidades de terapia intensiva” com operador booleano “AND” e “OR”. Os dados foram organizados em uma tabela a partir do periódico, qualis, autores, ano de publicação, título e acões educativas. Os conteúdos foram comparados e agrupados por similaridade. Resultados: Foram identificadas ações educativas como treinamentos, protocolos, aulas com discussões interativas, apoio profissional direcionado, uso de mensagens de texto curtas, vídeos e atividade lúdica. Conclusão: Observou-se predominância de atividades educativas da forma tradicional como treinamento, aulas e vídeos com pouca interação do profissional.

Utilizados como descriptores: "personal de salud", "educación continua", "error médico", "seguridad del paciente" y "unidades de cuidados intensivos" con operador booleano "AND" y "OR". Los datos se organizaron en una tabla de la revista, qualis, autores, año de publicación, título y acciones educativas. Los contenidos fueron comparados y agrupados por similitud. Resultados: Se identificaron acciones educativas como capacitación, protocolos, clases con discusiones interactivas, apoyo profesional dirigido, uso de mensajes de texto cortos, videos y actividad lúdica. Conclusión: Hubo un predominio de actividades educativas de la manera tradicional como capacitaciones, clases y videos con poca interacción del profesional.

ABSTRACT: Objective: To map the educational strategies directed to health professionals for the prevention of incidents in intensive care units. Method: Integrative review carried out between April and May 2021 in the databases: LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF and CINAHL. Included studies published between 2016 and 2021 in English, Spanish and Portuguese full texts. Excluded abstracts, editorials, theses and dissertations. Used as descriptors: "health personnel", "continuing education", "medical error", patient safety" and "intensive care units" with Boolean operator "AND" and "OR". The data were organized in a table from the journal, qualis, authors, year of publication, title and educational actions. The contents were compared and grouped by similarity. Results: Educational actions such as training, protocols, classes with interactive discussions, targeted professional support, use of short text messages, videos and playful activity were identified. Conclusion: There was a predominance of educational activities in the traditional way such as training, classes and videos with little interaction of the professional.

Abstract Protozoa of the Apicomplexa phylum are worldwide distributed with capacity to infect endothermic animals. The study of these protozoa in wild birds in Brazil is scarce. This study aimed to evaluate the occurrence of apicomplexan protozoa in wild birds in the Northeast of Brazil. From October to December 2019, brain tissue samples were collected from 71 captive birds from the Wild Animal Screening Center of the Pernambuco State (CETRAS-Tangara) and 25 free-living birds from the Caatinga biome in Rio Grande do Norte, totaling 96 animals (41 species). Brain fragments were subjected to molecular diagnosis by nested PCR for the 18s rDNA gene of Apicomplexa parasites, followed by DNA sequencing. This gene was detected in 25% (24/96) of the samples, and it was possible to perform DNA sequencing of 14 samples, confirming three genera: Isospora, Sarcocystis and Toxoplasma from eight bird species (Amazona aestiva, Coereba flaveola, Egretta thula, Paroaria dominicana, Sporophila nigricollis, Cariama cristata, Columbina talpacoti, Crypturellus parvirostris). The occurrence these coccidia in wild birds provides important epidemiological information for the adoption of preventive measures for its conservation. Future studies are needed to better understand the consequence of Apicomplexa infection in birds in Caatinga and Atlantic Forest biomes.

Resumo Protozoários do filo Apicomplexa são distribuídos mundialmente e com capacidade de infectar animais endotérmicos. O estudo destes protozoários, em aves silvestres do Brasil, é escasso. Objetivou-se avaliar a ocorrência de protozoários Apicomplexa em aves silvestres na região Nordeste do Brasil. De outubro a dezembro de 2019, foram coletadas amostras de encéfalo de 71 aves de cativeiro do Centro de Triagem e Reabilitação de Animais Silvestres de Pernambuco (CETRAS-Tangara). E 25 aves de vida livre do bioma Caatinga no Rio Grande do Norte, totalizando 96 animais (41 espécies). Os fragmentos de encéfalo foram submetidos ao diagnóstico molecular por nested PCR, para o gene 18s rDNA de protozoários Apicomplexa, seguido por sequenciamento do DNA. Este gene foi detectado em 25% (24/96) das amostras analisadas; foi possível realizar o sequenciamento de 14 amostras, confirmando-se três gêneros: Isospora, Sarcocystis e Toxoplasma em oito espécies de aves (Amazona aestiva, Coereba flaveola, Egretta thula, Paroaria dominicana, Sporophila nigricollis, Cariama cristata, Columbina talpacoti, Crypturellus parvirostris). A ocorrência destes coccídios nas aves silvestres fornece informações epidemiológicas importantes para a adoção de medidas preventivas tendo em vista sua conservação. Estudos futuros são necessários para melhor compreensão da consequência da infecção por Apicomplexa, em aves silvestres dos biomas Caatinga e Floresta Atlântica.

Abstract Background Most of the evidence about the impact of the post-acute COVID-19 Syndrome (PACS) reports individual symptoms without correlations with related imaging. Objectives To evaluate cardiopulmonary symptoms, their predictors and related images in COVID-19 patients discharged from hospital. Methods Consecutive patients who survived COVID-19 were contacted 90 days after discharge. The Clinic Outcome Team structured a questionnaire evaluating symptoms and clinical status (blinded for hospitalization data). A multivariate analysis was performed to address the course of COVID-19, comorbidities, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress during hospitalization, and cardiac rehabilitation after discharge. The significance level was set at 5%. Results A total of 480 discharged patients with COVID-19 (age: 59±14 years, 67.5% males) were included; 22.3% required mechanical ventilation. The prevalence of patients with PACS-related cardiopulmonary symptoms (dyspnea, tiredness/fatigue, cough, and chest discomfort) was 16.3%. Several parameters of chest computed tomography and echocardiogram were similar in patients with and without cardiopulmonary symptoms. The multivariate analysis showed that PACS-related cardiopulmonary-symptoms were independently related to female sex (OR 3.023; 95% CI 1.319-6.929), in-hospital deep venous thrombosis (OR 13.689; 95% CI 1.069-175.304), elevated troponin I (OR 1.355; 95% CI 1.048-1.751) and C-reactive protein during hospitalization (OR 1.060; 95% CI 1.023-1.097) and depression (OR 6.110; 95% CI 2.254-16.558). Conclusion PACS-related cardiopulmonary symptoms 90 days post-discharge are common and multifactorial. Beyond thrombotic and markers of inflammation/myocardial injury during hospitalization, female sex and depression were independently associated with cardiopulmonary-related PACS. These results highlighted the need for a multifaceted approach targeting susceptible patients.

Resumo Fundamento A maioria da evidência sobre o impacto da síndrome COVID pós-aguda (PACS, do inglês, post-acute COVID-19 syndrome) descreve sintomas individuais sem correlacioná-los com exames de imagens. Objetivos Avaliar sintomas cardiopulmonares, seus preditores e imagens relacionadas em pacientes com COVID-19 após alta hospitalar. Métodos Pacientes consecutivos, que sobreviveram à COVID-19, foram contatados 90 dias após a alta hospitalar. A equipe de desfechos clínicos (cega quanto aos dados durante a internação) elaborou um questionário estruturado avaliando sintomas e estado clínico. Uma análise multivariada foi realizada abordando a evolução da COVID-19, comorbidades, ansiedade, depressão, e estresse pós-traumático durante a internação, e reabilitação cardíaca após a alta. O nível de significância usado nas análises foi de 5%. Resultados Foram incluídos 480 pacientes (idade 59±14 anos, 67,5% do sexo masculino) que receberam alta hospitalar por COVID-19; 22,3% necessitaram de ventilação mecânica. A prevalência de pacientes com sintomas cardiopulmonares relacionados à PACS (dispneia, cansaço/fadiga, tosse e desconforto no peito) foi de 16,3%. Vários parâmetros de tomografia computadorizada do tórax e de ecocardiograma foram similares entre os pacientes com e sem sintomas cardiopulmonares. A análise multivariada mostrou que sintomas cardiopulmonares foram relacionados de maneira independente com sexo feminino (OR 3,023; IC95% 1,319-6,929), trombose venosa profunda durante a internação (OR 13,689; IC95% 1,069-175,304), nível elevado de troponina (OR 1,355; IC95% 1,048-1,751) e de proteína C reativa durante a internação (OR 1,060; IC95% 1,023-1,097) e depressão (OR 6,110; IC95% 2,254-16,558). Conclusão Os sintomas cardiopulmonares relacionados à PACS 90 dias após a alta hospitalar são comuns e multifatoriais. Além dos marcadores trombóticos, inflamatórios e de lesão miocárdica durante a internação, sexo feminino e depressão foram associados independentemente com sintomas cardiopulmonares relacionados à PACS. Esses resultados destacaram a necessidade de uma abordagem multifacetada direcionada a pacientes susceptíveis.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to compare the Auditory Middle Latency Response in adults, one group with and another group without altered auditory skills. In addition, the aim was to compare cut-off values of 30% and 50% for the Ear Effect in terms of sensitivity and specificity. Methods: the sample comprised 32 individuals of both genders with no hearing loss who were divided into Group 1 (16 individuals with no alterations in auditory skills) and Group 2 (16 individuals with alterations in auditory skills). All participants received an audiological evaluation and measurement of Brainstem and Auditory Middle Latency Potentials. Results: when Group 1 and Group 2 were compared, a statistically significant difference was only observed in Na and Pa amplitude of waves A1C3 and A2C3. In the analysis of sensitivity and specificity of the Auditory Middle Latency Response, a cut-off value of 50% gave a better balance between sensitivity and specificity. Conclusion: adults presented with altered auditory abilities had smaller response amplitudes in the Na and Pa components of the waves generated in the left hemisphere. A cut-off value of 50% gave a better discrimination of the Ear Effect for identifying subjects with altered auditory skills.

RESUMO Objetivo: comparar a latência e a amplitude dos componentes Na, Pa, Nb e Pb do Potencial Evocado Auditivo de Média Latência em adultos com e sem alterações em habilidades auditivas, bem como analisar a sensibilidade e a especificidade dos valores de corte de 30% e 50% para o Efeito de Orelha. Métodos: compuseram a amostra 32 indivíduos de ambos os sexos e sem perda auditiva, sendo subdivididos em Grupo 1 (16 indivíduos sem alterações em habilidades auditivas) e Grupo 2 (16 indivíduos com alterações em habilidades auditivas). Todos os participantes foram submetidos a uma avaliação audiológica e aos Potenciais Evocados Auditivos de Tronco Encefálico de Média Latência. O teste ANOVA foi utilizado na análise dos dados, considerando significantes os valores de p menores ou iguais a 0,05. Resultados: foi observada diferença estatisticamente significante apenas na amplitude de Na e Pa, quando Grupo 1 e Grupo 2 foram comparados. Esta diferença foi observada nas ondas A1C3 e A2C3. Na análise de sensibilidade e especificidade do Potencial Evocado Auditivo de Média Latência, observou-se que o valor de corte de 50% apresentou um melhor equilíbrio entre os critérios de sensibilidade e especificidade. Conclusão: os indivíduos adultos com alterações nas habilidades auditivas apresentaram menor amplitude de resposta nos componentes Na e Pa das ondas geradas no hemisfério esquerdo. O valor de corte de 50% apresentou um melhor equilíbrio na análise do Efeito de Orelha para a contribuição no diagnóstico de alterações de habilidades auditivas.

A new compound, (6R,7S,2E,4E)-6,7-dihydroxy-4,6-dimethylocta-2,4-dienoic acid (1), together with eight known compounds were isolated from the co-culture of Saccharicola sp. and Botryosphaeria parva, an endophytic fungi associated with Eugenia jambolana Lam. (Myrtaceae) plant species. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis of the one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS) data as well as by comparison with literature data. The bioactivity (antioxidant and antifungal) of the crude EtOAc was evaluated. All crude extracts presented antioxidant activity and only the crude extract from the co-culture was active on the fungus Cladosporium sphaerospermum. This investigation contributed to the knowledge about the metabolic production of two endophytic fungi Saccharicola sp. and Botryosphaeria parva in co-culture, once, until the present date, there are no studies in the literature that report the understanding of the chemical interaction of both grown in the same environment.

ABSTRACT Prolonged drought extreme events can intensify eutrophication symptoms. This study aimed to analyze the trophic state of two semiarid reservoirs (Cruzeta and Dourado) that experience regular periods of drying and reflooding, verifying limnological changes. Two distinct periods were defined: Period I - before water depletion and Period II – after water renewal. To assess the changes in the limnological variables and the trophic state following the reflooding was conducted Wilcoxon test, Pearson's Correlation, and cluster analysis. Despite similar hydro-meteorological conditions, the reservoirs exhibited different outcomes in limnological variables. Due to the prolonged drought, Cruzeta maintained the eutrophic state in both periods, with the reservoir retaining only 2% of its water volume. In the Dourado reservoir, the trophic state change was observed, shifting from mesotrophic to eutrophic. The acceleration of eutrophication may have occurred due to the existence of organic matter in the sediment, coming from plantations inside the reservoir in addition to phosphorus carried from the drainage basin and by internal loading. Thus, reflooding did not improve water quality conditions and may intensify eutrophication. Therefore, it is recommended that effective reservoir and drainage basin management practices be implemented to mitigate eutrophication and aim for improvements in water quality.

RESUMO Eventos extremos de seca prolongada podem intensificar os sintomas de eutrofização. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o estado trófico de dois reservatórios semiáridos (Cruzeta e Dourado) que sofrem constantes períodos de seca e reinundação, verificando as mudanças limnológicas. Dois períodos foram definidos: Período I - antes do esgotamento da água e Período II - após a renovação da água. Para verificar as alterações das variáveis limnológicas e do estado trófico após a reinundação foi realizado teste de Wilcoxon, Correlação de Pearson e análise de cluster. Os reservatórios apresentaram resultados diferentes nas variáveis limnológicas, apesar de cenários hidrometeorológicos semelhantes. Cruzeta manteve o estado eutrófico em ambos os períodos, devido ao efeito da seca prolongada, o reservatório se encontrava com apenas 2% do seu volume. Dourado passou de mesotrófico para eutrófico. A aceleração da eutrofização pode ter ocorrido devido à existência de matéria orgânica no sedimento, proveniente de plantios no interior do reservatório, além de fósforo carreado da bacia de drenagem e por carregamento interno. A reinundação não melhorou as condições de qualidade da água e pode intensificar a eutrofização. Portanto, recomendamos práticas eficazes de gestão de reservatórios e bacias de drenagem para mitigar a eutrofização, visando melhorias na qualidade da água.

Abstract Mental health care in Brazil has been changing throughout history, establishing new practices, forming the Psychosocial Care Network, affirming the protagonism of users in the production of care, their social rights and their citizenship. Among the professionals involved in these changes are occupational therapists. This qualitative research aimed to understand the performance of these professionals in this Psychosocial Care Network in the Paraíba state, Brazil. Thirteen occupational therapists were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire, applied remotely. These professionals are mostly women, with professional experience and interest in working in Mental Health, as well as work in Psychosocial Care Centers I. A low number of professionals in state services was evidenced, being only 17 in a Network of 124 services. As for the actions developed, they listed: individualized care, reception/screening, groups, Unique Therapeutic Projects, participation in team meetings, crisis management and workshops. The precariousness of working conditions was perceived, in particular, by the lack of resources to carry out the interventions. Only occasionally they feel supported by the representative entities (class council, union, and state professional association). The service coordinators understand the professional performance, but it is the users who value it the most, followed by family members, teams, and service coordinators. This appreciation and recognition by the main agents involved in the production of community life demonstrates that occupational therapists are an integral and active part in this process of reception, coexistence and inclusion of vulnerable and fragile people facing their condition of mental suffering.

Resumo O cuidado em saúde mental no Brasil vem mudando ao longo da história, instituindo novas práticas, formando a Rede de Atenção Psicossocial, afirmando o protagonismo dos usuários na produção do cuidado, seus direitos sociais e sua cidadania. Dentre os profissionais envolvidos nessas mudanças, estão os terapeutas ocupacionais. Esta pesquisa qualitativa teve como objetivo compreender a atuação desses profissionais na RAPS do estado da Paraíba, Brasil. Foram entrevistadas 13 terapeutas ocupacionais utilizando um questionário semiestruturado, aplicado de forma remota. Essas profissionais são, em sua maioria, mulheres, com experiência profissional e interesse pelo trabalho em saúde mental e atuam em Centros de Atenção Psicossocial I. Foi evidenciado um baixo número de profissionais nos serviços do estado, apenas 17 em uma rede de 124 serviços. Quanto às ações desenvolvidas, elencaram: atendimentos individualizados, acolhimento/triagem, grupos, Projetos Terapêuticos Singulares, participação em reuniões de equipe, manejo de crise e a realização de oficinas. A precarização das condições de trabalho foi percebida, em especial, pela insuficiência dos recursos para a realização das intervenções. Somente eventualmente elas se sentem apoiadas pelas entidades representativas (conselho de classe, sindicato e associação profissional estadual). Os coordenadores dos serviços compreendem a atuação profissional, mas são os usuários quem mais a valorizam, seguidos pelos familiares, equipes e coordenadores do serviço. Essa valorização e reconhecimento pelos principais agentes envolvidos na produção da vida comunitária demonstra que as terapeutas ocupacionais são parte integrante e atuante nesse processo de acolhimento, convivência e inclusão das pessoas vulnerabilizadas e fragilizadas diante de sua condição de sofrimento mental.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to isolate Toxoplasma gondii from tissues of free-range chickens in the southwestern region of Goiás, to detect and molecularly characterize the genetic material of the parasite, and to determine the seroprevalence of the protozoan parasite in these animals. A seroprevalence of T. gondii antibodies of 76% (19/25) was found among the chickens, while genetic material from their tissues was detected in 56% (14/25). A total of 14 isolates was obtained in the bioassay, ten of which were considered acute, eight were considered isolates of high virulence lethal to mice, and four of low virulence, considered non-lethal but with the ability to chronify the infection. Seven of the ten isolates showed significant morphometric differences from the RH strain, in terms of nucleus-complex-apical distance, length and width. Genotyping of the acute isolates was performed by RFLP-PCR, using 11 genetic markers: SAG1, SAG2 (3’SAG2 and 5’SAG2), alt.SAG2, SAG3, BTUB, GRA6, c22-8, c29-2, L358, PK1, and APICO. The results were compared and classified according to the genotypes listed on the ToxoDB Platform, where different profiles were observed indicating the presence of two known genotypes (#7 and #63) and five new genotypes (NEW 3, NEW4, NEW5, NEW6, NEW 7). The results showed high seroprevalence, isolation rate, molecular detection and genotypic variations of T. gondii in free-range chickens in the southwestern region of Goiás.

Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi isolar Toxoplasma gondii de tecidos de galinhas caipiras da região sudoeste de Goiás, detectar e caracterizar molecularmente o material genético do parasito e determinar a soroprevalência do protozoário nestes animais. A soropositividade para anticorpos anti- T. gondii, nas galinhas caipiras, foi de 76% (19/25), enquanto a detecção do material genético dos tecidos foi de 56% (14/25). Por meio do bioensaio foi obtido um total de 14 isolados, sendo 10 agudos, dos quais oito foram considerados isolados de elevada virulência, sendo letais para camundongos; e quatro de baixa virulência, com capacidade de cronificar a infecção, considerados não letais. Em sete dos dez isolados foram identificadas diferenças morfométricas significativas em relação à cepa RH, quanto à distância núcleo-complexo apical, comprimento e largura. A genotipagem dos isolados agudos por RFLP-PCR foi realizada, utilizando-se 11 marcadores genéticos SAG1, SAG2 (3´SAG2 e 5´SAG2), alt.SAG2, SAG3, BTUB, GRA6, c22-8, c29-2, L358, PK1, APICO. Os resultados foram comparados e classificados de acordo com os genótipos presentes na Plataforma ToxoDB, nos quais diferentes perfis foram observados indicando a presença de dois genótipos conhecidos (#7 e #63) e cinco genótipos novos (NEW 3, NEW4, NEW5, NEW6, NEW 7). Os resultados demonstraram elevada soroprevalência, taxa de isolamento, detecção molecular e variações genotípicas de T. gondii em galinhas caipiras da região sudoeste de Goiás.

RECENT ADVANCES IN THE ELECTROPHILIC ADDITION OF CHALCOGEN ATOMS TO ALKENES. Organochalcogen compounds (containing S, Se and Te) are interesting from biological point of view, but also in their use as intermediates in obtaining complex molecules or even for exploring their properties. In this way, chalcogen electrophiles are very powerful reactants and can be added to alkenes to form a three-membered intermediate called chalcogeniranium ion. This specie reacts with different nucleophiles to undergo a series of molecules containing chalcogens with interesting properties. The addition of electrophiles from chalcogens to alkenes is one of the oldest reactions in the field of the chemistry of these compounds and because of this many modifications have already been explored. Among them, methodologies that make use of transition metals to the most recent ones exploring aspects of Green Chemistry. This review starts with an overview of the background involved in electrophilic addition reactions of organochalcogenic compounds in alkenes and then, describes the recent methodologies leading to the synthesis of useful molecules and hoping that it will be beneficial to provoke further research and reflection in this field.
