RESUMO Neste trabalho avaliou-se numericamente, a partir da utilização do software ANSYS, versão 10.0, o comportamento de ligações metálicas efetuadas por parafusos auto-atarraxantes com diâmetro igual a 11 mm, dispostos em X, em corpos de prova confeccionados com madeira de reflorestamento do tipo Eucalipto urograndis. A rigidez k (força versus deslizamento) do sistema de ligação foi avaliada, neste caso, por meio da simulação de ensaios de cisalhamento direto (direct shear), considerando-se 1/2 estrutura com carregamento aplicado até a ruptura do corpo de prova. A estratégia de se utilizar 1/2 estrutura simétrica teve o objetivo de reduzir o tempo de processamento numérico do modelo de corpo de prova. Na modelagem da madeira e dos conectores de aço foi utilizado o elemento finito solid45. Os resultados da análise numérica foram comparados com resultados obtidos a partir de ensaios experimentais realizados em corpos de prova de madeira com a mesma configuração e carregamentos utilizados na análise experimental. A calibração do modelo numérico foi realizada a partir da comparação da curva numérico-experimental "força aplicada" versus "deslizamento obtido". Os resultados numéricos obtidos para a resistência e rigidez k do sistema de ligação X mostraram uma boa concordância com os resultados experimentais, sendo que os resultados experimentais foram relativamente mais conservadores que os resultados numéricos. Como resultado apresenta-se, principalmente, a estratégia de modelagem numérica utilizada, neste caso.

ABSTRACT In this work was evaluated by numerical simulation, from the use of ANSYS software, version 10.0, the behavior of steel connections made by self-tapping screws with diameter of and 11 mm, in X position, in specimens made with reforested wood of the type Eucalyptus urograndis. The stiffness k (force versus displacement) of the connection system was evaluated, in this case, by direct shear testing simulation (direct shear), considering 1/2 structure with applied load until the rupture of the specimen. The strategy of using 1/2 symmetrical structure of specimen aimed to reduce the time of numeric processing of the specimen. In the modeling of wood and steel connectors was used the finite element solid45. The numerical analysis results were compared with results obtained from experimental tests on wood specimens with same configuration and loadings used in experimental analysis. The calibration of the numerical model was made from the comparison of numerical and experimental curves "applied force" versus "obtained displacement". The numerical results for the strength and stiffness k of the connection system analyzed X showed a good agreement with the experimental results and the values of experimental results were fairly smaller than the numerical values. As a result presents mainly the entire numerical modeling strategy used in this case.

Created in the 1940s, the splice finger-joint type for wood has now been more used to compose structural materials wood base as Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam) and Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). The main advantage of this amendment is to provide a simple and economical way to join timber parts on segments. This study evaluated by means of tensile tests the capacity of this type of joint (structural dimension of 21mm) to bond together Lyptus® wood beams (a Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus urophyla hybrid) using Jowat polyurethane glue (Model 680.20) as compared to similar seamless beams. The results indicate that the seamless beams are 47.72% more resistant to traction (in characteristic values) than those with finger joints. However, to form structural elements where there is redundancy overlapping parts, such as Glulam and CLT, the values obtained can be considered satisfactory. Also noted is that denser samples have better traction results due to better bonding of the densest parts. The use of finger-joint and polyurethane adhesive o bond hybrid eucalyptus, although more brittle than wood without seams, enable the use of shorter wood sections for the composition of major structural elements, optimizing better forest material.

A Madeira Laminada Colada (MLC) apresenta uma grande gama de aplicações. No Brasil, o seu emprego na forma de cruzetas para postes de rede aérea de distribuição de energia elétrica tem despertado a atenção de companhias do ramo, motivadas pelo potencial de emprego deste material. Dentre os fatores que influenciam o desempenho mecânico de soluções em MLC destacam-se a eficiência e a afinidade dos adesivos para com as espécies de madeiras utilizadas, o tipo de tratamento e o teor de umidade das lâminas de madeira, motivando o desenvolvimento de novas pesquisas nesta temática. Este trabalho objetivou investigar, via Método de Planejamento Fatorial de Experimentos (DOE), a influência dos fatores tipo de madeira (pinus; teca; eucalipto), adesivo (Purbond; Cascophen) e tratamento (CCA; CCB; CCBS) nas variáveis respostas resistência ao cisalhamento e à delaminação, consistindo nos mesmos fatores e combinação avaliados no projeto de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento da ANEEL/EESC-PD220-07: Cabeça de Série da Cruzeta de MLC. Os resultados da análise estatística revelaram que o fator tipo de madeira expressou efeito significativo para ambas as variáveis respostas avaliadas, o mesmo não ocorrendo com os fatores tipo de adesivo e de tratamento. Já o teor de umidade mostrou ser significativo em todas as espécies de madeira quando analisada a resistência ao cisalhamento, apresentando a madeira de teca a maior resistência ao cisalhamento e à delaminação.

The Glued Laminated Wood has a large range of applications. In Brazil, its employment as cross-piece poles for overhead electrical power has attracted the attention of companies in the industry, motivated by the potential use of this material. Among the factors that influence the mechanical performance of Glulam solutions stand out efficiency and affinity of the adhesives to the species of wood used, the type of treatment and moisture content of wood veneer, motivating the development of new research on this topic. This research aimed to investigate, by Design of Experiments (DOE), the influence of wood (pinus, teca, eucalipto), adhesive (Purbond; Cascophen) and treatment (CCA, CCB, CCBS ) in the variable responses shear strength and delamination, consisting in the same combination factors evaluated in ANEEL/EESC-PD220-07 project: Head Crosshead Glulam Series. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the species factor expressed significant effect for both response variables evaluated, did not occur with adhesive and treatment factors. Moisture content was significant in the wood evaluated when analyzed the shear strength, and the teca wood showed the highest shear strength and also relating to the delamination.

Este trabalho objetiva apresentar uma metodologia alternativa de cálculo fundamentada no Método dos Mínimos Quadrados para a determinação do módulo de elasticidade na flexão, em vigas de madeira de dimensões estruturais. As equações desenvolvidas requerem o conhecimento de três ou cinco pontos medidos em deslocamentos ao longo da peça, permitindo maior confiabilidade sobre a variável resposta, utilizando-se do ensaio de flexão estática a três pontos e de forma não destrutiva, decorrente da imposição das medidas de pequenos deslocamentos L/300 e L/200, sendo a maior delas estipulada pela norma Brasileira NBR 7190:1997. As madeiras testadas foram Angico, Cumaru, Garapa e Jatobá. Além da obtenção dos módulos de elasticidade pela metodologia alternativa proposta, estes foram também obtidos do emprego da norma Brasileira NBR 7190:1997, adaptada para a condição de ensaio não destrutivo (pequenos deslocamentos) e para peças de dimensões estruturais. Os resultados dos módulos de elasticidade das quatro espécies de madeira, segundo ambas as abordagens de cálculo utilizadas, mostraram-se equivalentes, implicando na boa aproximação fornecida pela metodologia de cálculo adaptada da norma Brasileira.

This study aims to present an alternative calculation methodology based on the Least Squares Method for determining the modulus of elasticity in bending wooden beams of structural dimensions. The equations developed require knowledge of three or five points measured in displacements along the piece, allowing greater reliability on the response variable, using the statistical bending test at three points and non-destructively, resulting from imposition of measures from small displacements L/300 and L/200, the largest being stipulated by the Brazilian norm NBR 7190:1997. The woods tested were Angico, Cumaru, Garapa and Jatoba. Besides obtaining the modulus of elasticity through the alternative methodology proposed, these were also obtained employing the Brazilian norm NBR 7190:1997, adapted to the condition of non-destructive testing (small displacements) and for pieces of structural dimensions. The results of the modulus of elasticity of the four species of wood according to both calculation approaches used proved to be equivalent, implying the good approximation provided by the methodology of calculation adapted from the Brazilian norm.

O controle da qualidade é fundamental no processo de fabricação de peças de madeira laminada colada (MLC), e uma das formas desse controle pode ser por meio da avaliação não destrutiva do módulo de elasticidade. O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar os valores de módulo de elasticidade das peças de MLC obtidos por meio do ensaio de vibração transversal livre e do ensaio de flexão estática, ambos feitos antes e após tratamento preservativo (contra a ação de agentes biológicos), realizado pelo processo de Célula Cheia. No total, foram produzidas 54 peças de MLC de dimensões nominais de 9 cm x 9 cm x 200 cm, com três espécies de madeira de reflorestamento coladas com dois adesivos de aplicação estrutural e tratadas com três preservantes. Foi obtida uma correlação significativa entre os valores do módulo de elasticidade obtidos pelos dois métodos (r variou entre 0,85 e 0,99). Concluiu-se que o ensaio de vibração transversal livre pode ser utilizado para avaliação do módulo de elasticidade de peças de MLC, sendo uma alternativa ao ensaio de flexão estática

Quality control is essential in the manufacturing process of glued-laminated (glulam) timber elements. This control can be done by nondestructive evaluation of the modulus of elasticity. The purpose of this study is to compare the values of modulus of elasticity of glulam elements obtained by free transverse vibration tests and static bending, before and after preservative treatment, for protection against the action of biological agents, performed by the full cell process. A total of 54 glulam elements were produced, with nominal sizes of 9 cm x 9 cm x 200 cm, with three species of reforestation wood, glued with two structural application adhesives and treated with three preservatives. A good correlation between the values of modulus of elasticity was obtained (r ranges between 0.85 and 0.99). The conclusion was made that the free vibration test is useful for evaluating the modulus of elasticity of glulam elements, and it is an alternative to the static bending test.

Nos últimos anos, o crescimento da agricultura brasileira tem forçado vários setores a se adequarem aos padrões produtivos com o intuito de se manterem competitivos, frente ao processo de globalização econômica. Nesse contexto, as fábricas de ração avícola tendem a buscar novas alternativas que favoreçam a produção e reduzam custos sem afetar a qualidade do produto final. Entre essas alternativas, destaca-se o uso de silos verticais por facilitar o processo de confecção das rações e eliminar os grandes depósitos horizontais. Diante dessa possibilidade, objetivou-se, com a presente pesquisa, estudar as tensões nas paredes em conformação ziguezague de um silo metálico prismático 2m x 1m e comparar os resultados obtidos com teorias e normas. Para o cálculo das tensões, utilizaram-se os métodos simplificados de Ravenet e Troitsky. Para a obtenção dos esforços reais nas paredes, utilizaram-se extensômetros elétricos. Dessa forma, conclui-se que, tanto a teoria de Ravenet quanto de Troistky, podem ser recomendadas para o dimensionamento de silos prismáticos por apresentarem boa aproximação com valores experimentais.

Recently Brazil has undergone agricultural growth that has forced several sectors to adjust their business structure to maintain competitiveness within the process of economic globalization. In this context, the poultry production has focused on new alternatives to increase productivity and reduce costs without affecting the quality of the final product. Among these alternatives, the use of vertical silos due to their capacity and ease of accurate feed ingredient rationing and eliminate large horizontal warehouses. The present research has focused on the stresses in rectangular, hopper bottom bins with a unique zigzag corrugation. The model bin was 2m x 1m with a hopper and the stresses obtained were compared to theories and standards. The stresses were estimated using Ravenet and Troitsky's simplified methods and compared to the experimental results. Strain gauges were used to obtain data on the stress within the bin walls. One concluded that either Ravenet or Troitsky's theory may be recommended for the design of rectangular silos since they provide a high level of accuracy compared to experimental values.

Thermal action on timber causes it to degrade through combustion of its chemical components, which leads to the release of vapors, combustible gases and char. This diminishes its load capacity due to the reduction of its cross section by charring and to changes in its mechanical properties of strength and stiffness as a function of its exposure to high temperatures. This paper discusses a numerical and experimental study of the behavior of Eucalyptus beams exposed to fire, in which the properties of strength and stiffness were evaluated as a function of evolving temperatures, allowing for an analysis of the effect of the section factor on the internal rise in temperature of structural Eucalyptus beams

La acción térmica sobre la madera causa su degradación a través del proceso de combustión de sus componentes y de la liberación de vapor, gases combustibles y carbón. Esto reduce su capacidad de carga debido a la disminución de la sección transversal por carbonización y a las variaciones de sus propiedades de resistencia y rigidez, ocasionadas por la exposición a altas temperaturas. En este trabajo, se presenta un estudio numérico y experimental sobre el comportamiento de vigas de eucalipto expuestas a la acción del fuego, en el cual, la resistencia y la rigidez de la viga fueron evaluadas en función de los cambios de temperatura, permitiendo de esta forma, analizar el efecto del factor de sección sobre el aumento interno de temperatura de las vigas de eucalipto
