As plantas daninhas denominadas vulgarmente como corda-de-viola, pertencentes aos gêneros Ipomoea e Merremia, estão entre as mais importantes do Brasil. A identificação das espécies em campo, bem como o conhecimento da suscetibilidade específica a herbicidas, notadamente a flumioxazin, cuja tolerância específica é variável, são informações essenciais para uma recomendação racional de manejo. Com o intuito de determinar a suscetibilidade diferencial das convolvuláceas Ipomoea purpurea, Ipomoea hederifolia, Ipomoea triloba, Merremia cissoides e Merremia aegyptia, foram construídas curvas de dose-resposta com o flumioxazin, para obtenção dos controles percentuais de 50, 80, 95 e 99. Para isso, foram conduzidos dois experimentos em casa de vegetação; para cada espécie de planta daninha, os tratamentos herbicidas foram: 0, 7,81, 15,63, 31,25, 62,5, 125, 250, e 500 g de flumioxazin ha-1, aplicados em condições de pré-emergência. A partir dos resultados, conclui-se que a suscetibilidade ao flumioxazin, em ordem decrescente, é: Merremia aegyptia < Ipomoea hederifolia < Ipomoea triloba < Ipomoea purpurea < Merremia cissoides. As doses que proporcionam 80% de controle são, respectivamente pela ordem de espécies, de 238,6; 173,1; 84,7; 43,8; e 16,8 g de flumioxazin ha-1. Merremia aegyptia não é satisfatoriamente controlada pelo flumioxazin.

The weeds commonly known as morning glory belong to the genus Ipomoea and Merremia, and are among the most important in Brazil. The identification of these species under field conditions and knowledge of their specific susceptibility to herbicides, notably to flumioxazyn, presenting variable specific tolerance, is essential for the elaboration of rational management recommendations. Aiming to determine the differential susceptibility of the convolvulacea Ipomoea purpurea, Ipomoea hederifolia, Ipomoea triloba, Merremia cissoides and Merremia aegyptia, dose-response curves were built with the herbicide flumioxazyn to obtain the control levels of 50, 80, 95, and 99%. Thus, two experiments were conducted under greenhouse conditions, and for each species, the herbicide treatments were: 0; 7.81, 15.63, 31.25, 62.5, 125, 250, and 500 g of flumioxazyn ha-1, applied in pre-emergence conditions. Based on the results obtained, it was concluded that susceptibility to the herbicide flumioxazyn, in crescent order, is as follows: Merremia aegyptia < Ipomoea hederifolia < Ipomoea triloba < Ipomoea purpurea < Merremia cissoides. The doses providing 80% of control are respectively, according to the species order, 238.6; 173.1; 84.7; 43.8 and 16.8 g of flumioxazyn ha-1. Merremia aegyptia is not satisfactorily controlled by flumioxazyn.

Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar a influência da profundidade de semeadura e da condição de cobertura do solo na emergência de Merremia cissoides, Mucuna aterrima e Neonotonia wightii. Foram realizados dois experimentos, para cada espécie. No primeiro, os tratamentos foram organizados em esquema fatorial 4 x 2, considerando-se quatro condições de semeadura (semeado no solo e sem palha; sobre a palha; sob a palhada e sobre o solo; e sob a palha e semeado no solo) e duas quantidades de cobertura de palha (10 e 15 t ha-1). Os tratamentos do segundo experimento contemplaram cinco níveis de profundidade de semeadura das sementes (0, 20, 40, 60 e 80 mm). A emergência das plântulas foi verificada semanalmente até 21 dias após a semeadura (DAS). Houve maior emergência das espécies M. cissoides e N. wightii nas parcelas sem a camada de palha e em menores profundidades de alocação das sementes no solo. A espécie M. aterrima demonstrou maior emergência em todos os tratamentos, indicando tratar-se de uma planta altamente adaptada para as condições de colheita mecanizada e profundidade de alocação das sementes.

This work aimed to evaluate the influence of sowing depth and soil cover conditions on the emergence of Merremia cissoides, Mucuna aterrima and Neonotonia wightii. Two experiments were carried out for each species. In the first experiment, the treatments were arranged in a factorial scheme 4 x 2, considering four sowing conditions (sown in the soil, and without straw;over the straw; under the straw and over the soil; and under the straw and sown in the soil) and two amounts of sugarcane straw (10 and 15 t ha-1). The treatments of the second experiment consisted of five levels of sowing depth (0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 mm). Seedling emergence was evaluated weekly up to 21 days after sowing (DAS). Higher emergence of M. cissoides and N. wightii was identified in the plots without straw and at lower depths of seed allocation in the soil. The species M. aterrima showed higher emergence in all treatments, proving to be highly adapted to the conditions of mechanized harvest and seed allocation.

This paper presents epidemiological, laboratory, and clinical data on 12 years of dengue virus activity in the State of Rio de Janeiro from the time the disease was first confirmed virologically in April 1986 through April 1998. DEN-1 and DEN-2 viruses are the serotypes circulating in the state and were responsible for the epidemics reported during the last 12 years. The results published here show both the impact of dengue virus infections on the population and laboratory advances that have improved dengue diagnosis.
