ABSTRACT: Polioencephalomalacia (PEM) is a nervous disease that affects ruminants, has a worldwide distribution and causes significant economic losses. PEM is abundantly described and studied in cattle and small ruminants, but there is little information about the disease in buffaloes, especially in Brazil. The objective of this work is to describe the clinical and pathological aspects of an outbreak of PEM in buffaloes in a feedlot in the state of Pará, Brazil. The outbreak occurred in a flock of 76 Murrah buffaloes, with an average age of five months, in a feedlot. Twenty-eight of these buffaloes became ill, and thirteen showed neurological signs and died. Two buffaloes underwent necropsy. The brain and fragments of various abdominal and thoracic cavity organs were fixed in 10% formalin and sent for histopathological examination. In the frontal, parietal, and occipital telencephalic lobes, the convolutions were flattened and yellowish, and when cut, there was a clear line of demarcation between the superficial and deep layers. Histologically, the intermediate layers of the cerebral cortex showed mild to moderate vacuolization of the neuropil, moderate enlargement of the perivascular, perineuronal, and periastrocyte spaces, moderate swelling and edema of astrocytes, and a large number of necrotic neurons. The work demonstrates that, despite being poorly documented in Brazil, PEM should be considered in the differential diagnosis of neurological syndromes in buffaloes.

RESUMO: Polioencefalomalacia (PEM) é uma doença nervosa complexa que afeta ruminantes, tem distribuição mundial e causa perdas econômicas significativas. A PEM é abundantemente descrita e estudada em bovinos e pequenos ruminantes, porém há poucas informações sobre a doença em bubalinos, especialmente no Brasil. O objetivo deste trabalho é descrever os aspectos clínicos e patológicos de um surto de PEM em búfalos em um confinamento no estado do Pará, Brasil. O surto ocorreu em um lote de 76 búfalos da raça Murrah, com idade média de cinco meses, em um sistema de confinamento. Vinte e oito desses bubalinos adoeceram e treze apresentaram sinais neurológicos e morreram. Dois bubalinos foram submetidos à necropsia. O encéfalo e fragmentos de diversos órgãos da cavidade abdominal e torácica foram fixados em formol a 10% e enviados para exame histopatológico. Nos lobos frontal, parietal e occipital do telencéfalo as circunvoluções estavam achatadas e amareladas e ao corte havia uma clara linha de demarcação entre as camadas superficial e profunda. Na histologia as camadas intermediárias do córtex cerebral apresentavam vacuolização leve a moderada do neurópilo, aumento moderado dos espaços perivascular, perineuronal e periastrocitário, tumefação e edema moderados de astrócitos e grande número de neurônios necróticos. O trabalho demonstra que, apesar de pouco documentada no Brasil, a PEM deve ser considerada no diagnóstico diferencial das síndromes neurológicas em bubalinos.

Resumo No Brasil, redes de apoio colaborativas têm sido estruturadas para conduzir o processo de reconhecimento de Indicação Geográfica (IG), junto ao Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi delinear uma revisão de literatura sobre o processo de implementação e a governança da IG no país para melhor compreensão deste cenário. A metodologia foi baseada em pesquisas nos periódicos da Comissão de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal do Nível Superior e em bases de dados gratuitas como Google Acadêmico, com critérios de inclusão e exclusão para seleção das publicações. Das 109 publicações encontradas, 22 foram criteriosamente selecionadas para análise sob a ótica da dinâmica dos processos de implementação e governança de IG no Brasil. Observou-se que as redes colaborativas para condução dos processos de implementação e governança de IG foram estruturadas com dinâmicas diferentes em cada território, resultado de esforços e articulações realizadas por diferentes instituições brasileiras.

Abstract In Brazil, collaborative support networks have been structured to conduct the process of recognition of Geographical Indication (GI) together with the National Institute of Industrial Property. The objective of the present work was to outline a literature review on the implementation process and governance of GIs in the country for a better understanding of this scenario. The methodology was based on research in the journals of the Higher Education Personnel Improvement Commission and free databases such as Google Scholar, with inclusion and exclusion criteria for selecting publications. Of the 109 publications found, 22 were carefully selected for analysis from the perspective of the dynamics of GI implementation and governance processes in Brazil. It was observed that the collaborative networks to conduct the GI implementation and governance processes were structured with different dynamics in each territory, resulting from efforts and coordination carried out by different Brazilian institutions.

Resumen En Brasil, se han estructurado redes de apoyo colaborativo para realizar el proceso de reconocimiento de la Indicación Geográfica (IG), junto con el Instituto Nacional de Propiedad Industrial. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue esbozar una revisión bibliográfica sobre el proceso de implementación y gobernanza de las IG en el país para una mejor comprensión de este escenario. La metodología se basó en investigaciones en las revistas de la Comisión de Mejoramiento del Personal de Educación Superior y en bases de datos gratuitas como Google Scholar, con criterios de inclusión y exclusión para la selección de publicaciones. De las 109 publicaciones encontradas, 22 fueron cuidadosamente seleccionadas para el análisis desde la perspectiva de la dinámica de los procesos de implementación y gobernanza de las IG en Brasil. Se observó que las redes colaborativas para conducir los procesos de implementación y gobernanza de la IG se estructuraron con dinámicas diferentes en cada territorio, resultado de esfuerzos y articulaciones realizadas por diferentes instituciones brasileñas.

Abstract A continuous increase in levels of atmospheric pollution and emission restrictions has forced scientists and engineers to adopt new strategies to improve and develop internal combustion engines. One strategy is based on the development of new simulation methodologies using computational fluid dynamic (CFD) techniques, proposed in the present article. In this study,the dynamic loop methodology with ANSYS Fluent code is proposed to perform the numerical simulation ofa four-stroke spark ignition engine. The complexity of the real case was first simplified with three-dimensional CAD geometry, which was then discretized in ANSYS Meshing, whereby a hybrid mesh was created using prismatic and tetrahedral elements. Simulations for in-cylinder analyses were performed in cold flow and employing common flow parameters, such as swirl and tumble. The mesh quality results were classified as good or excellent, being higher than 0.79 for orthogonal quality criteria and lower than 0.36 for skewness criteria. Turbulent effects were introduced concerning the opening and closing of the valves. It was found that the turbulence increases during the intake stroke up to 90°, and during the power stroke, wherein the of the piston bowl, had a great contributionthat can be seen from the swirl and tumble profile for the engine cycle. In the case of the turbulence intensity, a sharp increase was registered during the admission step up to 90°, at which point the turbulence intensity was 4.0. It canbe concluded that this is an innovative approach, capable of simulating the engine motion profile in cold flow.

Abstract Background: One of the main adverse reactions of adjuvant radiotherapy for breast cancer is radiodermatitis. Objective: To assess the incidence of radiodermatitis in women with breast cancer, identify factors associated with its severity and determine the time at which this event occurs. Methods: Prospective cohort study in 113 women with breast cancer who were evaluated before radiotherapy and at every fifth session until the end of treatment. Logistic regression and Cox proportional regression model were used for the assessment of risk factors; P values < 0.05 were considered significant. Results: The incidence rate of radiodermatitis was 98.2% and it was demonstrated that for each additional point of the Body Mass Index (BMI), the chance of occurrence of grades II to IV radiodermatitis increases by 14% (OR = 1.14 [95% CI 1.04–1.26]; p = 0.004) and statin use increases the risk of more severe skin lesions by four-fold (OR = 4.27 [95% CI 1.11–16.42]; p = 0.035). The exclusive use of hydrogel for skin hydration was an independent factor in delaying the onset of radiodermatitis (HR = 0.55 [95% CI 0.36–0.82]; p = 0.004). Study limitations: The main limitation of this study was its external validity. The identified factors should be considered for services and populations similar to those in this study. Conclusions: There was a high incidence of radiodermatitis and its severity was related to higher BMI, statin use; there was a protective effect of hydrogel use.

Abstract Introduction: Sexual violence is a serious problem in Brazilian society whose repercussions on public health make it imperative to address this issue in the context of training in professions. Likewise, comprehensive care for people in situations of sexual violence requires the joint action of different professions, in addition to network integration and articulation of different social facilities. Objective: This study aimed to reflect which competencies - understood as the set of knowledge, skills and attitudes - are permitted for the development of comprehensive care for people in situations of sexual violence, according to the best standards of quality and health safety they. Method: A qualitative study of an exploratory and descriptive nature was carried out, which involved the application of a preliminary form on knowledge about skills, followed by the dynamics of the construction of the human figure, which consists of manufacturing a doll in which the knowledge would be represented by the head, by the skills of the members and by the attitudes of the body, in the creation of an office with 76 participants from different professions. Furthermore, a questionnaire was administered to 32 professionals with experience in the area of sexual violence and with practical experience in caring for people in this situation. Categorical thematic analysis was used. Result: Result: Challenges were identified to be overcome in the three dimensions that constitute competencies, with a clear lack of knowledge for working in a network aiming at the effectiveness and comprehensiveness of care. 15 competencies common to professionals who deal with violence were recognized, and the final product was represented in a radially arranged infographic with the organization of knowledge, skills and attitudes identified as necessary for the development of such competencies. Conclusion: Recognizing common competencies and identifying, separately, which knowledge, skills and attitudes constitute them represent strategies that promote a transversal approach to these contents in the training of professions, especially in health. Proposing a matrix of common competencies for interprofessional practice in care for people in situations of sexual violence can guide the qualification of this care and support interprofessionality in crucial scenarios of collective action to combat the blatant social injustice that sexual violence means.

Resumo Introdução: A violência sexual é um grave problema na sociedade brasileira cujas repercussões no âmbito da saúde pública tornam imperativa a abordagem dessa questão no contexto da formação das suas profissões. Igualmente, a integralidade do cuidado destinado às pessoas em situação de violência sexual requer a atuação conjunta de diversas profissões, além da integração em rede e articulação de diferentes equipamentos sociais. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo reconhecer quais competências - entendidas como o conjunto de conhecimentos, habilidades e atitudes - são necessárias para o desenvolvimento do cuidado integral destinado às pessoas em situação de violência sexual, segundo os melhores padrões de qualidade e segurança para a saúde delas. Método: Realizou-se um estudo qualitativo de caráter exploratório e descritivo que envolveu a aplicação de um formulário prévio sobre os conhecimentos acerca das competências, seguido da dinâmica da construção da figura humana, que consiste na confecção de um boneco no qual os conhecimentos estariam representados pela cabeça, as habilidades pelos membros e as atitudes pelo corpo, na realização de uma oficina com 76 participantes de diferentes profissões. Adicionalmente, aplicou-se um questionário a 32 profissionais com reconhecida expertise na área de violência sexual e com experiência prática no atendimento às pessoas nessa situação. Foi empregada a análise temática categorial. Resultado: Identificaram-se desafios a serem superados nas três dimensões constituintes das competências, com nítida deficiência de conhecimentos para a atuação em rede visando à efetividade e à integralidade do cuidado. Reconheceram-se 15 competências comuns aos profissionais que lidam com a violência, e o produto final foi representado num infográfico de disposição radial com a organização dos conhecimentos, das habilidades e das atitudes identificados como necessários para o desenvolvimento de tais competências. Conclusão: Reconhecer competências comuns e identificar, separadamente, quais conhecimentos, habilidades e atitudes as constituem representa estratégias promotoras da abordagem transversal desses conteúdos na formação das profissões, sobretudo da saúde. A proposição de uma matriz de competências comuns para prática interprofissional no cuidado destinado às pessoas em situação de violência sexual pode orientar a qualificação desse cuidado e alicerçar a interprofissionalidade em cenários cruciais de atuação coletiva para o enfrentamento da flagrante injustiça social que a violência sexual significa.

Abstract We present here new discoveries in Blechnaceae (Polypodiopsida). There are new records in Austroblechnum, Blechnum, Cranfillia, and Parablechnum for different political units and areas of the Neotropics. These (and other) records are reported here, alongside with two new necessary combinations in Parablechnum and an updated key to the Brazilian species of the genus. Also, an update of Blechnum description was made.

Resumo São apresentadas novas descobertas em Blechnaceae (Polypodiopsida). Há novos registros em Austroblechnum, Blechnum, Cranfillia e Parablechnum para diferentes unidades políticas e áreas do Neotrópico. Esses (e outros) registros são reportados aqui, juntamente com duas novas combinações em Parablechnum e uma chave atualizada para as espécies brasileiras do gênero. Além disso, foi feita uma atualização da descrição de Blechnum.

ABSTRACT The resistance of a weed to a herbicide may be accompanied by an ecological disadvantage, which can hinder the establishment of resistant biotypes when the herbicide is not used. The aim of this study, therefore, was to evaluate the growth and phenology of two biotypes of Raphanus raphanistrum, one susceptible and the other resistant to ALS inhibitors. The research was carried out from August to December 2020, conducting two simultaneous experiments, with the susceptible and resistant biotypes grown as single crops or together with wheat. The parameters under evaluation were plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, shoot dry weight, growth rate, leaf area ratio, net assimilation rate, and phenology - determined using the BBCH scale. The results showed not only that development and growth in the sensitive biotype was greater compared to the resistant biotype, but also the precocity of the biotype. The only variable for which the resistant biotype was superior was root dry weight. Cross-resistance to ALS inhibitors resulted in a difference in the growth and phenology of the resistant biotype that should be better evaluated, as the populations present large genetic differences.

Abstract Chives are one of the most popular spice plants in world cuisine. It is usually produced by small producers, often in an organic farming system. However, research with chives in this production system is lacking. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the production of chives with the use of organic fertilizers before planting and in top dressing. Seven treatments were evaluated, resulting from the factorial 2x3+1, with two organic fertilizers (castor bean cake and hoof and horn powder) x 3 application modes (100% before planting; 100% in top dressing; 50% before planting and 50% in top dressing) + 1 control (without these organic fertilizers). The experimental design was in randomized blocks, with five replications and plots of 1 m2. The relative index of chlorophyll (“Spad” index), height, number of leaves, fresh and dry weight of the plants were evaluated. All treatments of the factorial were better than the control, showing that these organic fertilizers improve production in chives. It is recommended to use the hoof and horn powder in installments (50% before planting and 50% in top dressing) or 100% in top dressing, the latter option being more interesting for reducing the need for labor, with just one application moment.

Abstract With the growing demand for solutions to prevent and resolve faults in gas-insulated substations that affect the operation of the electrical system, a fault simulation laboratory for gas-insulated substations was developed to develop solutions for monitoring and locating these faults. The laboratory is composed of instruments for a fault location system based on traveling wave theory. The laboratory also has computational programs for fault simulation control and signal acquisition, in addition to having tools to analyze the data. The results were obtained through tests carried out that confirmed the laboratory's ability to simulate the operation of faults in gas-insulated substations, which allowed demonstrating the capacity of the fault location system using the theory of traveling waves.

Abstract The incidence of premature birth has increased worldwide, unequally distributed by race/ethnicity. Racism generates economic inequalities, educational disparities, and differential access to health care, which increases the risk of preterm birth. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the factors associated with preterm birth and racial and ethnic disparities in premature birth among pregnant women attending prenatal care at the Brazilian Unified Health System health units in the urban area of Santo Antônio de Jesus, Bahia, Brazil. This study used data from 938 pregnant women aged between 18 to 45 years within the NISAMI prospective cohort. Premature birth prevalence was 11.8%, with a higher prevalence among black than non-black women (12.9% versus 6.0%, respectively). Maternal age between 18 and 24 years was the only factor associated with premature birth. A higher risk of premature birth was found among black women than non-black women (RR 3.22; 95%CI 1.42-7.32). These results reveal the existence of racial and social inequalities in the occurrence of premature birth.

Resumo A incidência de parto prematuro tem aumentado em todo o mundo, distribuída de forma desigual por raça/etnia. O racismo gera desigualdades econômicas, disparidades educacionais e acesso diferenciado à saúde, o que aumenta o risco de parto prematuro. Assim, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar os fatores associados à prematuridade e disparidades raciais e étnicas no parto prematuro entre gestantes atendidas durante o pré-natal em unidades de saúde do Sistema Único de Saúde na zona urbana de Santo Antônio de Jesus, Bahia, Brasil. Este estudo utilizou dados de 938 mulheres grávidas com idade entre 18 e 45 anos dentro da coorte prospectiva do NISAMI. A prevalência de prematuridade foi de 11,8%, sendo maior entre as negras do que entre as não negras (12,9% versus 6,0%, respectivamente). A idade materna entre 18 e 24 anos foi o único fator associado ao parto prematuro. Foi encontrado maior risco de prematuridade entre as mulheres negras do que entre as não negras (RR 3,22; IC95% 1,42-7,32). Esses resultados revelam a existência de desigualdades raciais e sociais na ocorrência do parto prematuro.

SUMMARY BACKGROUND: Cerebrovascular accident (or stroke) and ischemic heart disease are the the major causes of death in the world. It is estimated that about 85% of strokes are ischemic in origin. Reperfusion therapy in the acute phase of ischemic stroke with a recombinant human tissue plasminogen activator is effective, but some factors influence the success of this treatment. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate clinical aspects and possible determinants for reperfusion after venous thrombolysis. METHODS: This is a retrospective, cross-sectional, observational study based on a review of hospital records of inpatients diagnosed with ischemic stroke treated with intravenous thrombolysis, the main outcome being reperfusion or not. RESULTS: Data from this study revealed a predominance of females in the group of reperfused patients and males in the non-reperfused group, both maintaining moderate severity on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and admission without statistical significance (p>0.18). In addition, the mean admission severity score was 13.2 for the group of reperfused patients and 14.2 for those not reperfused, and the mean ejection fraction of both groups was within normal functionality, with a mean of 0.50 for reperfused patients and 0.62 for non-reperfused patients. CONCLUSION: We found an association between successful venous chemical thrombolysis reperfusion and lower mortality in patients with acute stroke.

Abstract Concrete presents complex behavior, being a difficult material to define the ideal proportion of its constituents. To overcome this challenge, many mix design methods have been developed over time. However, most of these methods do not consider durability parameters during the procedure. Thus, the objective of this article is to present a mix design method for concrete, with properties of workability (slump rating from 50 mm to 220 mm), axial compressive strength (class of 25MPa to 55MPa), and durability as response parameters. From the application of the proposed method, it was possible to create mix design and performance diagrams. It was noticed that all concretes fell into the pre-established consistency class and presented axial compressive strength results close to the predetermined values. Moreover, it was possible to obtain indications of the material's durability.

Resumo O concreto apresenta um comportamento complexo, sendo uma atividade difícil definir a proporção ideal dos seus constituintes. A fim de superar esse desafio, muitos métodos de dosagem foram desenvolvidos, ao longo do tempo. Entretanto, a maioria desses métodos não considera parâmetros de durabilidade durante o procedimento. Assim, o objetivo deste artigo é apresentar um método para dosar concretos, tendo como parâmetros de resposta propriedades de trabalhabilidade (valores de abatimento de 50 mm a 220 mm), de resistência à compressão axial (classe de 25MPa a 55MPa) e de durabilidade. A partir da aplicação do método proposto, foi possível elaborar os diagramas de dosagem e de desempenho. Percebeu-se que todos os concretos se enquadraram na classe de consistência pré-estabelecida e apresentaram resultados de resistência à compressão axial próximos aos valores pré-determinados. Além disso, foi possível obter indicativos da durabilidade do material.

ABSTRACT: The resistance of Echinochloa crus-galli (barnyardgrass) to cyhalofop-p-butyl has already been confirmed in rice fields in Santa Catarina, Brazil. However, it is not known if this resistance affects other ACCase inhibitors. This study evaluated the occurrence of cross-resistance in Echinochloa crus-galli biotypes from the main rice-growing regions of Santa Catarina to ACCase inhibitors. The research was conducted in a greenhouse, using a completely randomized design with a factorial scheme that included three ACCase-inhibiting herbicides (cyhalofop-p-butyl, quizalofop-p-ethyl, and profoxydim) belonging to two chemical groups (aryl-oxifenoxi-propionates and cyclohexanediones), eight herbicide doses, and four biotypes evaluated in the F1 generation and two biotypes evaluated in the F2 generation. These biotypes were selected based on the results of a preliminary trial with 21 populations. The herbicides were applied when the plants presented two true leaves. After control evaluations, the lethal dose required to control 50% and 80% of the population (LD50 and LD80) and the resistance factor (RF) were determined by nonlinear regression. The results showed that only one biotype from Tubarão, Santa Catarina met all statistical and agronomic criteria and had cross-resistance to ACCase inhibitors confirmed. In both generations, the RF was greater than 1.0, and the dose required to achieve 80% control exceeded the maximum recommended dose on the label. Resistance levels were higher for herbicides belonging to the aryl-oxifenoxi-propionate chemical group, with RF greater than 7.0. For the cyclohexanedione chemical group, the RF was less than 5.0.

RESUMO: A resistência de capim-arroz (Echinochloa crus-galli) ao cyhalofop-p-butyl já foi confirmada em áreas de produção de arroz de Santa Catarina, entretanto não se sabe se essa resistência compromete outros inibidores da ACCase. O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar a ocorrência de resistência cruzada em biótipos de capim-arroz das principais regiões orizícolas do Estado de Santa Catarina a inibidores de ACCase. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida em casa de vegetação, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com esquema fatorial, sendo: três herbicidas inibidores de ACCase (cyhalofop-p-butyl; quizalofop-p-ethyl e profoxydim) pertencentes a dois grupos químicos (ariloxifenoxipropionatos e ciclohexanodionas); oito doses dos herbicidas e quatro biótipos foram avaliados na geração F1 e dois biótipos na geração F2. Estes biótipos foram selecionados a partir dos resultados de um ensaio preliminar com 21 populações. A aplicação foi realizada quando as plantas apresentaram duas folhas verdadeiras. Após as avaliações de controle determinou-se, por regressão não-linear, a dose letal necessária para controlar 50% e 80% da população (DL50 e DL80) e o fator de resistência (FR). Os resultados demonstraram que apenas um biótipo de Tubarão-SC atendeu todos os critérios estatísticos e agronômicos e teve a resistência cruzada a inibidores da ACCase confirmada. Nas duas gerações observou-se que o FR foi superior a 1,0 e que a dose necessária para atingir o controle de 80% excedeu a dose máxima recomendada em bula. O nível de resistência foi superior para os herbicidas do grupo químico ariloxifenoxipropionatos, com FR maior que 7,0. Para o grupo químico ciclohexanodionas o FR foi menor que 5,0.

ABSTRACT: The research was conducted to test the hypothesis that the inclusion of coffee husk (Coffea sp.) would improve the fermentative characteristics and quality of pearl millet silage (Pennisetumglaucum). Thus, the objective was to assess the effect of the inclusion of different levels of coffee husk in pearl millet silage on the chemical composition, fermentative characteristics and degradability in situ of silage. The experimental design used was completely randomized and the treatments consisted of the silage of the whole pearl millet plant with the inclusion of increasing levels of coffee husk: 0%, 7%, 14% and 21%, based on natural matter. After 60 days of fermentation, the silages were evaluated for chemical characteristics, fermentative, degradability in situ dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF). The inclusion of coffee husk did not alter (P > 0.05) the contents of crude protein (11.94%), NDF (44.89%) and total digestible nutrients (65.09%). There were increases in the concentrations of DM and fiber in acid detergent, accompanied by a reduction in the concentrations of mineral matter and ether extract, as the proportion of coffee husks in silages increased. There was an increase in the lignin content up to the level of 7.59% inclusion of the coffee husk. There was no effect of the inclusion of the coffee husk on the pH of the silage (3.60). However, the inclusion of coffee husk resulted in a reduction in temperature, gas losses, and degradability in situ of silage DM and NDF. It is recommended to include coffee husk up to the level of 14.0% of the natural matter to improve the fermentation pattern and the quality of the pearl millet silage.

RESUMO: A pesquisa foi conduzida para testar a hipótese de que a inclusão de casca de café (Coffea sp.) melhoraria as características fermentativas e a qualidade da silagem de milheto (Pennisetum glaucum). Assim, objetivou-se avaliar o efeito da inclusão de diferentes níveis da casca de café na ensilagem de milheto sobre a composição química, características fermentativas e degradabilidade in situ da silagem. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado e os tratamentos constituíram-se pela silagem da planta inteira de milheto com a inclusão de níveis crescentes de casca de café: 0%, 7%, 14% e 21%, com base na matéria natural. Após 60 dias de fermentação, as silagens foram avaliadas quanto às características químicas, fermentativas, degradabilidade in situ da matéria seca (MS) e da fibra em detergente neutro (FDN). A inclusão da casca de café não alterou (P > 0,05) os teores de proteína bruta (11,94%), FDN (44,89%) e nutrientes digestíveis totais (65,09%). Houve aumentos nas concentrações de MS e fibra em detergente ácido, acompanhados de uma redução nas concentrações de matéria mineral e extrato etéreo, à medida que se aumentou a participação da casca de café nas silagens. Houve um aumento no teor de lignina até o nível de 7,59% de inclusão da casca de café. Não houve efeito da inclusão da casca de café sobre o pH da silagem (3,60). Entretanto, a inclusão de casca de café acarretou na redução da temperatura, perdas por gases, degradabilidade in situ da MS e FDN da silagem. Recomenda-se a inclusão de casca de café até o nível de 14,0% da matéria natural para melhoria do padrão de fermentação e da qualidade da silagem de milheto.

ABSTRACT: This study compared cardiovascular and respiratory effects of dexmedetomidine and xylazine in total intravenous anesthesia with propofol, ketamine, and lidocaine. Twenty-one female dogs were submitted to ovariohysterectomy, premedicated with acepromazine and anesthetized with propofol at a variable rate. The dogs were intubated and supplemented with 100% oxygen in a circuit without rebreathing gases in spontaneous ventilation. They were divided into three groups (n=21) after induction: control (CON) with ketamine (2 mg/kg + 0.6 mg/kg/h) and lidocaine (2 mg/kg + 3 mg/kg/h), DEX and XIL with the same drugs as CON, associated with dexmedetomidine (2 µg/kg + 1 µg/kg/h) or xylazine (0.2 mg/kg + 0.1 mg/kg/h). Propofol consumption, fentanyl analgesic rescue, and cardiorespiratory and blood gas parameters were evaluated during anesthesia. The DEX group had a lower consumption of propofol (0.16 ± 0.09 mg/kg/min) compared to CON (0.24 ± 0.09 mg/kg/min), both not differing from XIL (0.23 ± 0.09 mg/kg/min). The mean arterial pressure was higher after the initial bolus in DEX (107 ± 8 mmHg) and XIL (96 ± 11 mmHg) compared to the CON group (80 ± 10 mmHg). Higher accumulation of arterial carbon dioxide and a decrease in pH were observed in the CON group. The total number of fentanyl rescues did not differ between DEX (7) and XIL (6) and were lower than CON (16). Therefore, dexmedetomidine and xylazine reduced intraoperative fentanyl consumption compared to ketamine and lidocaine infusion alone. However, only dexmedetomidine promoted lower propofol consumption and higher blood pressure values.

RESUMO: Esse estudo comparou efeitos cardiovasculares e respiratórios da dexmedetomidina e xilazina na anestesia total intravenosa com propofol, cetamina e lidocaína. Foram submetidas a ovário-histerectomia 21 cadelas, pré-medicadas com acepromazina, anestesiadas com propofol em taxa variável. As cadelas foram intubadas e suplementadas com oxigênio 100% em circuito sem reinalação de gases em ventilação espontânea. Após a indução, foram distribuídas em três grupos (n=21): controle (CON) com cetamina (2 mg/kg + 0,6 mg/kg/h) e lidocaína (2 mg/kg + 3 mg/kg/h), DEX e XIL com os mesmos fármacos do CON, associados à dexmedetomidina (2 µg/kg + 1 µg/kg/h) ou xilazina (0,2 mg/kg + 0,1 mg/kg/h). Durante a anestesia, foram avaliados o consumo de propofol, resgate analgésico de fentanil, parâmetros cardiorepiratórios e hemogasométricos. O grupo DEX apresentou menor consumo de propofol (0,16 ± 0,09 mg/kg/min) comparado ao CON (0,24 ± 0,09 mg/kg/min), ambos sem diferir de XIL (0,23 ± 0,09 mg/kg/min). A pressão arterial média foi maior após o bolus inicial em DEX (107 ± 8 mmHg) e XIL (96 ± 11 mmHg) comparadas ao grupo CON (80 ± 10 mmHg). Houve maior acúmulo de gás carbônico arterial e diminuição do pH no grupo CON. O número total de resgates com fentanil não diferiram entre DEX (7) e XIL (6), e foram inferiores ao CON (16). Conclui-se que a dexmedetomidina e xilazina reduziram o consumo de fentanil transoperatório em comparação à infusão isolada de cetamina e lidocaína. Porém, nesse estudo apenas a dexmedetomidina promoveu menor consumo de propofol e maiores valores de pressão arterial.
