ABSTRACT: Nowadays, alternative methods that do not use formaldehyde to preserve cadavers must be used due to this substance’s toxicity. Synthetic models are a training option for teaching, but cost makes their use unviable in most underdeveloped countries. The present study’s main objective was to develop a model for education and researching thorax radiology in cadavers of chemically prepared dogs. Megaesophagus, pleural effusion, pneumothorax, and bronchography, as well as pulmonary insufflation, were simulated in 32 dogs cadavers, which received 150 mL/kg of pure ethyl alcohol solution with 5% glycerin followed by injection of 120 mL/kg of a solution containing 20% sodium chloride, 1% sodium nitrite and 1% sodium nitrate; they were kept refrigerated between 2 to 6 °C, for 30, 60, 90 or 120 days (G30, G60, G90, G120). There was no contamination, putrid odor, or subcutaneous emphysema. The pulmonary insufflation was kept, and the color and the consistency were similar to a fresh corpse after 120 days of conservation. It was possible to perform radiographic procedures, and almost all affections could be greatly mimicked. Megaesophagus and bronchography were easily simulated. Pneumothorax was the most challenging condition to be reproduced, especially in cadavers with some liquid in the thorax. The alcoholic and curing salt solutions are an embalming alternative with low financial and environmental costs and proved to preserve corpses.

RESUMO: Nos dias atuais, métodos alternativos e que não utilizem o formaldeído para conservação de cadáveres devem ser empregados, devido à toxicidade desse agente. Modelos sintéticos são opção de treinamento para o ensino, mas geralmente o preço inviabiliza seu uso na maioria dos países subdesenvolvidos. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi desenvolver um modelo visando ao ensino e pesquisa da radiologia torácica em cadáveres de cães quimicamente preparados. Foram simulados megaesôfago, efusão pleural, pneumotórax e broncografia, além de insuflação pulmonar, em 32 cadáveres de cães, que receberam 150 mL/kg de solução de álcool etílico puro com 5% de glicerina seguido de injeção de 120 mL/kg de solução contendo 20% de cloreto de sódio, 1% de nitrito de sódio e 1% de nitrato de sódio, mantidos sob refrigeração entre 2 e 6 graus, por 30, 60, 90 ou 120 dias (G30, G60, G90, G120). Não houve contaminação, odor pútrido ou enfisema subcutâneo. A insuflação pulmonar foi mantida, e a cor e a consistência foram semelhantes a um cadáver fresco após 120 dias de conservação. Em todos os grupos foi possível realizar os procedimentos radiográficos e quase todas afecções puderam ser grandemente mimetizadas. O megaesôfago e a broncografia foram facilmente simuladas. O pneumotórax foi a afecção mais difícil de ser simulada principalmente nos cadáveres com um pouco de líquido na cavidade torácica. A solução alcoólica e de sal de cura são uma alternativa de embalsamamento com baixo custo financeiro e ambiental e comprovadamente conservam cadáveres.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to biomechanically analyze the skin of canine corpses chemically prepared with ethyl alcohol and curing salt, and vacuum packed, for the practice of veterinary surgery, in addition to obtaining the microbiological evaluation that may occur during the process. Eight canine corpses, weighing 7.96 ± 1.48 kg, were used. The animals were injected with 120 ml/kg of a solution of 20% sodium chloride, 1% nitrite and 1% sodium nitrate, and 150 ml/kg of alcohol with 5% glycerin and kept in vacuum-plastic bags at temperature between 0 and 4 °C. Skin samples were taken on day 0 (fresh samples) and on days 30, 60, 90 and 120 for biomechanical analysis, as well as for microbiological analysis of the fluids in the plastic packaging containers. The maximum rupture force presented by the control group and in the days of conservation showed that the fixation with curimg salts and the storage in vacuum packs maintained the biomechanical characteristics of the skin for up to 120 days in the corpses under refrigeration.

RESUMEN El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar biomecánicamente la piel de cadáveres de caninos preparados químicamente con alcohol etílico y sal de cura, y embalados al vacío, para la práctica da cirugía veterinaria, además de obtener la evaluación microbiológica que se puede presentar durante el proceso. Se trabajó con ocho cadáveres de caninos, de peso 7.96±1.48 kg. Los animales fueron inyectados con 120 ml/kg de una solución de cloruro de sodio al 20%, nitrito al 1% y nitrato de sodio al 1%, y 150 ml/kg de alcohol con glicerina al 5% y se mantuvieron en envases al vacío a temperatura entre 0 y 4 °C. Se tomaron muestras de piel el día 0 (muestras frescas) y los días 30, 60, 90 y 120 para análisis biomecánico, así como para análisis microbiológico de los fluidos en los envases del embalaje plástico. La fuerza máxima de ruptura presentada por el grupo control y en los días de conservación demostró que la fijación con las sales de cura y el almacenamiento en embalajes al vacío mantuvo las características biomecánicas de la piel hasta por 120 días en los cadáveres bajo refrigeración.

SUMMARY: The celiac, cranial mesenteric and celiacomesenteric ganglia of the paca (Cuniculus paca) were found between the celiac and cranial mesenteric arteries. Two predominant patterns were found: isolated celiac and cranial mesenteric ganglion and the celiacomesenteric ganglion. At the microscopic level, the ganglia are constituted by an agglomeration of neurons surrounded by capsule of connective tissue. Most of these neurons had a single eccentric nucleus. Satellite cells and mast cells were found around the soma. The mast cells were also found ar ound blood vessels and in the capsule of the ganglia.

RESUMEN: Los ganglios celíacos, mesentérico-craneales y celíaco mesentéricos de la paca (Cuniculus paca) se encontraron entre las arterias celíaca y mesentérica craneal. Se visalizaron dos patrones predominantes: celiaca aislada y ganglio mesentérico craneal y ganglio celiaco mesentérico. A nivel microscópico, los ganglios están constituidos por una aglomeración de neuronas rodeadas por una cápsula de tejido conectivo. La mayoría de estas neuronas tenían un solo núcleo excéntrico. Se encontraron células satélites y mastocitos alrededor del soma. Los mastocitos también se encontraron alrededor de los vasos sanguíneos y en la cápsula de los ganglios.

Abstract This study investigated the morphology and immunoexpression of aquaporins (AQPs) 1 and 9 in the rete testis, efferent ducts, epididymis, and vas deferens in the Azara’s agouti (Dasyprocta azarae). For this purpose, ten adult sexually mature animals were used in histologic and immunohistochemical analyses. The Azara’s agouti rete testis was labyrinthine and lined with simple cubic epithelium. Ciliated and non-ciliated cells were observed in the epithelium of the efferent ducts. The epididymal cellular population was composed of principal, basal, apical, clear, narrow, and halo cells. The epithelium lining of vas deferens was composed of the principal and basal cells. AQPs 1 and 9 were not expressed in the rete testis. Positive reaction to AQP1 was observed at the luminal border of non-ciliated cells of the efferent ducts, and in the peritubular stroma and blood vessels in the epididymis, and vas deferens. AQP9 was immunolocalized in the epithelial cells in the efferent ducts, epididymis and vas deferens. The morphology of Azara’s agouti testis excurrent ducts is similar to that reported for other rodents such as Cuniculus paca. The immunolocalization results of the AQPs suggest that the expression of AQPs is species-specific due to differences in localization and expression when compared to studies in other mammals species. The knowledge about the expression of AQPs in Azara’s agouti testis excurrent ducts is essential to support future reproductive studies on this animal, since previous studies show that AQPs may be biomarkers of male fertility and infertility.

SUMMARY: The study reported the influence of the high and acute dose of Letrozole on the testis morphology in paca (Cuniculus paca), an aromatase inhibitor that reduces the endogenous estrogen, the essential hormone for spermatogenesis. Morphological changes were observed in seminiferous epithelium with germ cells with apoptotic characteristics and presence of vacuoles and nuclei in pycnose.

RESUMEN: El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la influencia de una dosis alta de Letrozol en la morfología de los testículos de la paca (Cuniculus paca), un inhibidor de la aromatasa que reduce el estrógeno endógeno, la hormona esencial para la espermatogénesis. Se observaron cambios morfológicos en el epitelio seminífero con células germinales con características apoptóticas y la presencia de vacuolas y núcleos en picnosis.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of using ethanol (AE) and an aqueous sodium chloride solution 30% (ASCS) in various time periods for the preparation of carcasses of cats for the teaching of surgical techniques. The corpses of 60 cats were used. The specimens were fixed in AE, according to group, for 30 days (G1), 30 and 60 days (G2) and 30, 60 and 90 days (G3), and ASCS was applied to all of them at 30, 60, 90 and 120 days of conservation and the result was measured by means of the biomechanical study in the tissues to determine the best moment to interrupt the fixation in AE using as control the greatest similarity in tissue resistance found in fresh cadavers. The use of the anatomicaltechniqueusingAE andASCSwas efficientthroughout theexperiment.There was no significant difference between the mean value of the maximum breaking force (N) or between the storage groups in the ASCS and the control group in any of the groups for the skin samples. Neither was there a significant difference in maximum force between fixation and preservation groups, compared to the control group in the groups for jejunum samples. However, G2 presented less variation in the breaking force (-0.21 mm), being, therefore, the group most similar to fresh animals. The anatomical technique used was found to be efficient for both fixation and preservation of cat carcasses for up to seven months.

RESUMEN El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar la factibilidad de utilizar alcohol etílico (AE) y una solución acuosa de cloruro de sodio al 30% (SACS) en varios periodos de tiempo para la preparación de cadáveres de gatos para la enseñanza de técnicas quirúrgicas. Se utilizaron los cadáveres de 60 gatos. Los especímenes fueron fijados en AE, según grupo, por 30 días (G1), 30 y 60 días (G2) y 30, 60 y 90 días (G3), y a todos se les aplicó SACS a los 30, 60, 90 y120 días de conservación y el resultado fue medido mediante el estudio biomecánico en los tejidos para determinar el mejor momento para interrumpir la fijación en AE, utilizando como control la mayor similitud en la resistencia tisular encontrada en cadáveres frescos. El uso de la técnica anatómica utilizando AE y SACS fue eficiente durante todo el experimento. No hubo diferencia significativa entre las medias de la fuerza máxima de ruptura (N) ni entre los grupos de almacenamiento en el SACS y el tiempo de control en ninguno de los grupos para las muestras de piel. Tampoco se observó diferencia significativa en la fuerza máxima entre los grupos de fijación y preservación, comparado al grupo control en los grupos para las muestras de yeyuno. No obstante, G2 presentó menor variación en la fuerza de ruptura (-0.21 mm), siendo, por lo tanto, el grupo más parecido a los animales frescos. Se encontró que la técnica anatómica utilizada es eficiente tanto para la fijación y para la conservación de cadáveres de gatos por hasta siete meses.

O mão-pelada é um mamífero da família Procyonidae com poucas descrições anatômicas detalhadas a seu respeito. O objetivo deste trabalho foi descrever, anatomicamente, a língua do mão-pelada, proporcionando base para futuros estudos clínico-cirúrgicos, além de contribuir com a anatomia comparada de carnívoros. Foram utilizadas as línguas de dois exemplares de mãos-pelada, fixados em formaldeído a 10%. A língua do mão-pelada possui, em média, 9,5cm de comprimento, é alongada e apresenta um sulco mediano pouco evidente. Possui lissa, quatro pares de papilas valadas na raiz lingual e um par no corpo, várias papilas fungiformes e cônicas no corpo e raiz e papilas filiformes pouco desenvolvidas e presentes principalmente no ápice. Outros três pares de papilas, sugestivas de serem papilas valadas, foram observadas na região lateral da base lingual. A língua do mão-pelada possui algumas características anatômicas similares às do cão, como a presença da lissa e a disposição das papilas, com exceção das folhadas, as quais não foram observadas.

The crab-eating raccoon is a mammal of the Procyonidae family of rare anatomical descriptions about it. This paper aimed to anatomically describe the crab-eating raccoon's tongue, providing data on future clinical and surgical studies, besides contributing to the carnivores compared anatomy. Two tongues were used after formaldehyde fixation. Crab-eating raccoon's tongue is, in average, 9.5cm in length; it is elongated and with a less evident median sulcus. It presents lyssa, four pairs of vallate papillae in the root and one pair in the body, several fungiform and conical papillae in the body and root and less developed filiform papillae in the apex, mainly. Other three papillae pairs, taken as vallates, were observed in the lateral area of the tongue root. The crab-eating raccoon's tongue presents some anatomical aspects which are similar to the dog's, as the lyssa and the distribution of papilae, but foliates, which were not observed.

Alterações vasculares renais são observadas com baixa freqüência em medicina veterinária e podem ter implicações diretas no funcionamento normal destes órgãos devido à alteração do fluxo sangüíneo. Assim, o objetivo deste relato é descrever um caso de duplicidade da artéria renal em uma cadela de cinco anos, sem raça definida e com 18kg. O animal veio a óbito após hemoparasitose crônica e foi submetido à injeção de látex pela aorta torácica, na altura do sexto espaço intercostal esquerdo. O animal foi dissecado após fixação com solução de formol a 10%, no laboratório de Anatomia Animal da Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária da UNICASTELO, Campus Fernandópolis, SP, visando-se à evidenciação dos ramos da aorta abdominal. Observou-se que o rim direito era irrigado por duas artérias, de calibres diferentes, caracterizando uma duplicidade dessa artéria renal. A artéria secundária apresentava diâmetro 28,1% menor que a principal do mesmo antímero e 34,3% menor que a principal do outro antímero. Ambas as artérias adentravam o rim pela região do hilo renal e apresentavam trajetos praticamente paralelos. O rim esquerdo apresentava irrigação pela artéria renal correspondente, sem qualquer alteração anatômica em número. Esta duplicidade da artéria renal deve ser considerada em cães, principalmente quando alterações renais estiverem presentes ou quando intervenções cirúrgicas abdominais forem conduzidas próxima aos rins, visando-se, dessa forma, a evitar que erros sejam cometidos por desconhecimento anatômico de estruturas importantes.

Renal vessels abnormalities are noticed with low frequency in veterinary medicine ad may have direct implications on the regular functioning of these organs due blood flow change. Thus, the aim of this report is describe a case of duplicity of the renal artery in a five year crossbred female weighting 18kg. The animal went to death due chronic hemoparasitosis and had latex injected by the thoracic aorta, on the sixth left intercostal space. It was dissected after being set in a 10% formaldehyde solution on the Animal Anatomy Laboratory of the Veterinary Medicine College, UNICASTELO, Fernandópolis, SP, aiming the visualization of the abdominal aorta branches. It was observed that the right kidney was irrigated by two arteries, of different diameters, characterizing duplicity of the renal artery. The secondary artery presented a diameter 28.1% smaller than the main artery of the same antimeter and 34.3% smaller than the main artery of the other antimeter. Both right arteries got into the kidney by the hilus region and presented practically parallel path. The left kidney presented irrigation by the corresponding renal artery, without any anatomical alteration in number. This kidney arterial duplicity should be considered in dogs, mainly when kidney alterations are present or when abdominal surgical interventions are driven near the kidneys, aiming to avoid errors due anatomical unfamiliarity of important structures.

Um programa de computador específico foi utilizado para reconstrução do volume tumoral intracraniano espontâneo por imagens de ressonância magnética (IRM) em três cães. Tumores histopatologicamente confirmados como meningioma, meningioma cístico e tumor do plexo coróide foram avaliados antes e após cirurgia. O programa de computador permitiu a segmentação por completo da pele, do cérebro, do tumor, do edema e do cisto. A manipulação das imagens tridimensionais permitiu a visibilização de todas as estruturas anatômicas, além da compreensão clínica, do planejamento cirúrgico e da monitorização do tratamento.

Specific software was used for reconstruction of spontaneous intracranial tumor volume from magnetic resonance images (MRI) in three dogs. Histopathologically confirmed meningioma, cystic meningioma, and choroid plexus tumors were evaluated before and after surgery. The software allowed the whole-volume segmentation of the skin, brain, tumor, edema, and cyst. Manipulation of the three-dimensional images (3D) allowed visualization of all anatomical structures, aided clinical understanding, surgical planning, and treatment monitoring.

Foi descrita a hemi-ovariossalpingohisterectomia em cinco pacas prenhes mantidas em cativeiro no Setor de Animais Silvestres da Faculdade de Ciências Agrárias e Veterinárias (FCAV-UNESP) de Jaboticabal, São Paulo, Brasil, a fim de observar futura prenhez no corno restante. A tranqüilização foi obtida após aplicação de azaperone (4mg/kg) seguida da aplicação de sulfato de atropina (0,06mg/kg) e da associação de cloridrato de quetamina (20mg/kg) e cloridrato de xilazina (1,5mg/kg), ambos na mesma seringa, para indução da anestesia. A anestesia geral foi obtida mediante inalação de halotano por máscara. Por meio de laparotomia mediana, foram retirados o corno uterino prenhe, o ovário e a tuba uterina, todos do mesmo antímero. Antibióticos (30.000UI/kg de três penicilinas e 12,5mg/kg de duas estreptomicinas) e analgésico (0,02mg/kg de buprenorfina) foram aplicados imediatamente após a cirurgia, sendo repetidos após dois dias. Todas as aplicações foram feitas por via intramuscular. Apesar da permanência de apenas um ovário após a cirurgia, nova prenhez ocorreu no corno restante nas cinco fêmeas submetidas à cirurgia, com o nascimento de filhotes (apenas um por parto) após 215, 248, 276, 302 e 310 dias da hemi-ovariossalpingohisterectomia.

The hemiovarysalpingohysterectomy in five captive pregnant pacas kept on the Wild Animal Section at the College of Agricultural and Veterinarian Sciences (FCAV-UNESP) in Jaboticabal, São Paulo, Brazil, was conducted aiming at verifying the further occurrence of pregnancy on the remaining uterine horn. The tranquilization was achieved by using azaperone (4mg/kg) and consequent application of atropine sulphate (0.06mg/kg) and the association of ketamine (20mg/kg) and xylazine (1.5mg/kg) cloridrates, on the same syringe, for induction of anesthesia. The general anesthesia was performed via a face mask with halothane. By means of median laparotomy, the uterine horn with the fetus, the ovary and the uterine tube, all from the same antimere, were taken out. Antibiotics (30,000IU/kg of three penicillins and 12.5mg/kg of two streptomycins) and analgesic (buprenorfine 0.02 mg/kg) were injected immediately after surgery and repeated after two days. All injections were made intramuscularly. In spite of the permanence of only one ovary after surgery, new pregnancy occurred in the remaining uterine horn in the five females which went through surgery, and the birth (solely one by delivery) happened 210, 248, 276, 302 and 310 days after the hemiovarysalpingohysterectomy.

O objetivo deste estudo foi estabelecer o tempo de prenhez da paca por meio de ultra-sonografia. Nove pacas prenhes foram periodicamente acompanhadas com um transdutor eletrônico setorial bi-frequencial de 5,0 e 7,5 MHz, em modo B, desde a detecção ultra-sonográfica da vesícula embrionária ou do feto até o nascimento dos filhotes. Os animais foram colocados em uma gaiola de ferro de prensagem lateral e permaneceram em posição quadrupedal durante as sessões. Um pano escuro foi usado para cobrir a gaiola e frutas foram oferecidas durante o exame ultra-sonográfico para evitar reações agressivas. Quanto mais precocemente ocorreu a detecção de prenhez, maior foi o período de acompanhamento ultra-sonográfico até o nascimento dos filhotes. Apenas um filhote nasceu por parto, com 796,5 ± 74,36 gramas (valor médio ± desvio padrão da amostra) e 33,46 ± 0,60 centímetros (valor médio ± desvio padrão da amostra) de comprimento (entre a borda rostral do focinho e a extremidade distal da cauda). O período de prenhez da paca abrange 135 a 139 dias.

The aim of this study was to establish the pregnancy period of paca by means of ultrasound use. Nine pregnant pacas were periodically scanned with a two-frequency sectorial electronic transducer of 5.0 and 7.5 MHz, in B mode, from ultrasound detection of embryo vesicle or fetus until the parturition. Animals were placed in an iron-bar squeeze cage and remained in standing position during sessions. A dark cloth was used to cover the cage and fruits were offered during ultrasound session to avoid aggressive reactions. The more premature occurred detection of pregnancy, the greater the period of ultrasound examination until the birth of the offspring. All gestation delivered only one newborn weighting 796.5 ± 74.36 grams (mean value ± standard error of the sample) and 33.46 ± 0.60 centimeters (mean value ± standard error of the sample) of length (from rostral edge of nose and distal portion of tail). The length of paca pregnancy ranged from 135 to 139 days.

A paca é um roedor sul-americano cujo manejo, tranqüilização ou anestesia oferece um grande campo de pesquisa devido aos poucos artigos existentes. Doze pacas fêmeas adultas foram utilizadas, mantidas separadas em seis baias, sendo capturadas com um puçá de polipropileno e levadas a uma sala na qual se realizava a tricotomia abdominal. Após, os animais eram colocados em uma gaiola de ferro de compressão lateral. A sessão de ultra-sonografia era realizada em modo B com um transdutor setorial eletrônico de 5,0 e 7,5 MHz. Para a diminuição do estresse causado pelos procedimentos, a tranqüilização das fêmeas era realizada com diazepam e maleato de midazolam por via oral. Ambos demonstraram-se efetivos na tranqüilização das pacas previamente e durante as sessões, sendo que o maleato de midazolam proporcionou um melhor manejo dos animais.

The paca is a South American rodent whose handling, tranquilization or anesthesia offers a large field of research due to rare existing issues. Twelve adult female pacas were used, separated in 6 pen, and were caught with a net made of polypropylene attached to a wire loop and then sent to a room where the abdominal hair clipping was done. Afterwards, the female was placed in an iron bar squeeze cage. The ultrasonography session was made in B mode with a two-frequency sectorial electronic transducer of 5.0 and 7.5 MHz. Intending to reduce the stress caused by the procedures, the tranquilization of females was made with oral taking of diazepam and midazolam maleate. Both presented effectiveness in tranquilization of pacas previously and during sessions, being the midazolam maleate the one that better facilitated the animal handling.

As células megacariocíticas hepáticas de coelhos da raça Nova Zelândia Branco foram estudadas na fase intra-uterina e no período pós-natal imediato. A análise estatística dos dados referentes ao citoplasma e núcleo dessas células, isto é, área, perímetro, diâmetro máximo, diâmetro mínimo, volume e fator de forma apresentaram diferenças significativas (p<0,01) para os valores de F relativos às fases estudadas no 15º, 22º e 29º dia de vida intra-uterina e 10º dia de vida pós-natal, e para os valores de F para animal dentro de cada fase. O teste de Tukey mostrou que a maioria dos parâmetros estudados no citoplasma e núcleo dessas células apresentou os menores valores no 15º dia de vida intra-uterina e os maiores no 22º dia da mesma fase.

The hepatic megakaryocytic cells of New Zealand White rabbit in the intrauterine phase and in the immediate postnatal period were studied. Statistical analysis of the data concerning the cytoplasm and nucleus of those cells, i.e., area, perimeter, maximum diameter, minimum diameter, volume and shape factor, presented significant differences (p<0.01) for F values concerning the life phases studied on15th, 22nd and 29th day of intrauterine life and 10th day of postnatal life, and for F values for animal within each phase. The Tukey’s test showed that most of the parameters studied in the cytoplasm and nucleus of these megakaryocytic cells presented the lowest values on the 15th day of intrauterine life and the highest on the 22nd day of the same phase.

O trajeto das artérias coronárias foi estudado no cervo-do-pantanal para comparação com os ruminantes domésticos. A artéria coronária esquerda se origina na aorta, na superfície auricular cardíaca e divide-se em ramos paraconal e circunflexo, os quais preenchem o sulco paraconal interventricular e sulco subsinuoso, respectivamente; esta artéria também origina um ramo para o conus arteriosus imediatamente antes de entrar no miocárdio. A artéria coronária direita surge da aorta, na borda cranial cardíaca e termina nesta borda, próximo ao sulco subsinuoso interventricular, entretanto, sem preenche-lo.

The course of the coronary arteries was studied in marsh deers for comparison with domestic ruminants. The left coronary artery is originated from the aorta in the cardiac auricular surface and divides into paraconal and circumflex branches, which fit the paraconal interventricular sulcus and the subsinuous sulcus, respectively; this artery also gives off a branch to the conus arteriosus just before penetrating the myocardium. The right coronary artery arises from the aorta, in the heart cranial border and ends in this border, close to the subsinuous interventricular sulcus, perhaps without fitting it.

Foram estabelecidos segmentos anatomocirúrgicos em pulmões de ovinos da raça Ideal (dezessete segmentos no pulmão direito e doze no esquerdo), mediante dissecação de peças coradas com látex colorido e fixadas em formol. Na maioria dos casos, a artéria pulmonar direita emite, a partir de um tronco, o ramo ascendente e descendente para as partes cranial e caudal do lobo cranial respectivamente; o ramo do lobo médio; o ramo do lobo caudal e o ramo do lobo acessório. Invariavelmente, a artéria pulmonar esquerda emite o ramo do lobo cranial e o ramo do lobo caudal.

Anatomicosurgical segments were established in ovine lungs of the ideal breed (seventeen segments in the right lung and twelve in the left lung), through dissection of pieces injected with colored latex and set in formalin solution. In most of the cases, the right pulmonary lung emits, starting from a trunk, the ascendant and the descendant branches to the cranial and caudal portion of the cranial lobe, respectively; the middle lobe branch; the caudal lobe branch and the accessory lobe branch. Invariably, the left pulmonary artery emits the cranial lobe branch and the caudal lobe branch.
