Resumo Macroglossia é o aumento de volume anormal da língua, que entre outras causas pode ser decorrente do incremento do crescimento, resultando em um tamanho maior do que a cavidade bucal permite para equilíbrio funcional. Essa alteração pode estar associada a deformidades dento-musculoesqueléticas e instabilidade de tratamento ortodôntico-cirúrgico, bem como favorecer o aparecimento de distúrbios da mastigação, da fala e da respiração. A redução cirúrgica da língua é um procedimento cirúrgico incomum, sendo indicada para a correção funcional ou estética. O presente trabalho apresenta um caso clínico de uma paciente com macroglossia relativa e deformidade dentofacial com má oclusão Classe III de Angle e diagnosticada com síndrome da apneia obstrutiva do sono. Foi realizada cirurgia ortognática para correção da deformidade dentofacial por meio de avanço e expansão maxilar, mentoplastia de avanço pela técnica de osteotomia horizontal basilar do mento, além de glossectomia parcial pela técnica de Egyedi-Obwegeser, num único tempo cirúrgico. As técnicas utilizadas neste caso apresentaram-se satisfatórias para correção das alterações, devolvendo a função e a estética.

Abstract Macroglossia is the abnormally large tongue volume, which, among other causes, may result from increased growth, leading to a size bigger than the oral cavity allows for functional balance. This alteration may be associated with dento-musculoskeletal deformities and instability of orthodontic-surgical treatment, besides favoring the appearance of chewing, speech, and breathing disorders. Surgical tongue reduction is an uncommon procedure indicated for functional or aesthetic correction. This case report involves a patient with relative macroglossia and dentofacial deformity with Angle Class III malocclusion who was also diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. In a single surgical procedure, orthognathic surgery was performed to correct dentofacial deformity using maxillary advancement and expansion, along with advancement genioplasty with basilar horizontal osteotomy and partial glossectomy using the Egyedi-Obwegeser technique. The techniques used were satisfactory for correcting the alterations and restoring function and aesthetics.

RESUMO O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a percepção dos discentes de medicina sobre a utilização de metodologias ativas em sua formação acadêmica. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, utilizando-se a aplicação de questionário on-line, contando com a participação de 140 estudantes do curso de Medicina de uma universidade federal brasileira. Os resultados revelam que, para a maioria dos/as estudantes, as metodologias ativas constituem uma experiência inovadora a qual exige um período de adaptação inicial, mas que se mostra capaz de contribuir efetivamente para o aprendizado e formação crítica dos sujeitos, preparando-os de forma adequada para a atuação profissional. Os/as discentes destacaram como principais vantagens dessas metodologias: a capacidade de estimular o autoestudo; o desenvolvimento de um sujeito crítico-reflexivo e o dinamismo do processo educacional; e como fragilidades: a exigência de maturidade discente; lacunas no processo de ensino; carência de suporte no processo de adaptação e insegurança quanto à aprendizagem. Ouvir os/as estudantes revelou a necessidade de transformações epistemológicas em relação às posturas de todos os sujeitos do processo de ensino-aprendizagem, exigindo permanente reflexão e crítica à prática educativa para seu aprimoramento.

ABSTRACT The aim of this article is to analyze the perception of medical students about the use of active methodologies in their academic education. This is a qualitative study, using an online questionnaire, with the participation of 140 students from a Brazilian federal university. The results reveal that, for most students, the active methodologies constitute an innovative experience that requires an initial adaptation period, but that is capable of effectively contributing to the learning and critical formation of the subjects, preparing them in an adequate form for professional performance. As main advantages of these methodologies, students highlighted the ability to stimulate self-study, the development of a critical-reflective subject and the dynamism of the educational process; and as weaknesses: the demand for student maturity; gaps in the teaching process; lack of support in the adaptation process and insecurity regarding learning. Listening to students revealed the need for epistemological changes in relation to the attitudes of all subjects in the teaching-learning process, requiring permanent reflection and criticism of educational practice for its improvement.

RESUMEN El propósito de este artículo es analizar la percepción de los estudiantes de medicina sobre el uso de metodologías activas en su formación académica. Se trata de un estudio cualitativo, mediante una aplicación de cuestionario en línea, con la participación de 140 estudiantes de medicina de una universidad federal brasileña. Los resultados revelan que, para la mayoría de los estudiantes, las metodologías activas constituyen una experiencia innovadora que requiere un período de adaptación inicial, pero que es capaz de contribuir efectivamente al aprendizaje y formación crítica de los sujetos, preparándolos en forma adecuada para el desempeño profesional. Los estudiantes destacaron como principales ventajas de estas metodologías la capacidad de estimular el autoestudio, el desarrollo de un sujeto crítico-reflexivo y el dinamismo del proceso educativo; y como debilidades la exigencia de madurez de los estudiantes, las brechas en el proceso de enseñanza, la falta de apoyo en el proceso de adaptación y la inseguridad en el aprendizaje. La escucha de los estudiantes reveló la necesidad de transformaciones epistemológicas en relación con las actitudes de todos los sujetos en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, requiriendo una permanente reflexión y crítica de la práctica educativa para su mejora.

Resumo Introdução: A Secretaria de Estado da Saúde de Goiás (SES-GO), Brasil, elaborou um programa de reabilitação voltado para a Atenção Primária e tem por finalidade a recuperação dos usuários que apresentam consequências funcionais após a COVID-19. Por conseguinte, as avaliações dos protocolos propostos são importantes para subsidiar ações e políticas públicas de saúde para a oferta dos serviços de reabilitação à população. Objetivo: Compreender as percepções dos usuários do programa de reabilitação da Secretaria de Estado da Saúde de Goiás quanto aos serviços de acompanhamento oferecidos para sua recuperação pós-COVID-19 na Atenção Primária à Saúde. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa. Realizou-se a aplicação de uma pergunta norteadora a 18 usuários, de duas cidades da Região Metropolitana de Goiânia. As respostas foram redigidas pela pesquisadora e tratadas com a análise de conteúdo temática. Resultados: Da análise, surgiram duas categorias temáticas, quais sejam: percepções dos efeitos na funcionalidade e; percepções dos efeitos terapêuticos atribuídas pelos usuários após o programa de reabilitação idealizado pela Secretaria de Saúde do Estado de Goiás. A melhora física potencializa a sua participação no convívio social, o que proporciona benefícios nos seus aspectos emocionais. As diferenças foram perceptíveis pelos usuários em comparação com os momentos em que não tinham realizado nenhum procedimento terapêutico antes da proposta idealizada pela SES-GO. A autoeficácia foi outro elemento latente nas respostas dos usuários referente à implementação do programa. A satisfação dos usuários com a proposta é externada pelos usuários, sendo um fator essencial para evidenciar a sua qualidade. Considerações finais: O programa de reabilitação pode ser um aliado imprescindível ao levar em consideração os aspectos do modelo biopsicossocial na recuperação dos usuários. Esses resultados podem implicar na ampliação do programa de reabilitação proposto pela SES-GO junto às Secretarias Municipais de Saúde.

Abstract Introduction: The State Department of Health of Goiás (SES-GO), Brazil, developed a rehabilitation program aimed at Primary Care and aims at the recovery of users who have functional consequences after COVID-19. Therefore, the evaluation of the proposed protocols is important to support public health actions and policies for the provision of rehabilitation services to the population. Methods: This is a descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach. A guiding question was applied to 18 users, from two cities in the Metropolitan Region of Goiânia. The answers were written by the researcher and treated with thematic content analysis. Results: From the analysis, two thematic categories emerged, namely: perceptions of the effects on functionality and; perceptions of therapeutic effects attributed by users after the rehabilitation program designed by the Health Department of the State of Goiás. Physical improvement enhances their participation in social life, which provides benefits in their emotional aspects. The differences were noticeable by the users in comparison with the moments when they had not performed any therapeutic procedure before the proposal idealized by SES-GO. Self-efficacy was another latent element in users' responses regarding program implementation. The users' satisfaction with the proposal is expressed by the interviewees, being an essential factor to demonstrate its quality. Final Consideration: The rehabilitation program can be an essential ally when considering aspects of the biopsychosocial model in the recovery of users who have had the consequences of COVID-19. These results may imply the expansion of the rehabilitation program proposed by the Health Department of Goiás to other local and regional Health Departments.

RESUMO Objetivo: Descrever os resultados iniciais da linha de base de um estudo de base populacional, bem como um protocolo para avaliar o desempenho de diferentes algoritmos de aprendizado de máquina, com o objetivo de predizer a demanda de serviços de urgência e emergência em uma amostra representativa de adultos da zona urbana de Pelotas, no Sul do Brasil. Métodos: O estudo intitula-se “Emergency department use and Artificial Intelligence in PELOTAS (RS) (EAI PELOTAS)” (https://wp.ufpel.edu.br/eaipelotas/). Entre setembro e dezembro de 2021, foi realizada uma linha de base com os participantes. Está previsto um acompanhamento após 12 meses para avaliar a utilização de serviços de urgência e emergência no último ano. Em seguida, serão testados algoritmos de machine learning para predizer a utilização de serviços de urgência e emergência no período de um ano. Resultados: No total, 5.722 participantes responderam à pesquisa, a maioria do sexo feminino (66,8%), com idade média de 50,3 anos. O número médio de pessoas no domicílio foi de 2,6. A maioria da amostra tem cor da pele branca e ensino fundamental incompleto ou menos. Cerca de 30% da amostra estava com obesidade, 14% com diabetes e 39% eram hipertensos. Conclusão: O presente trabalho apresentou um protocolo descrevendo as etapas que foram e serão tomadas para a produção de um modelo capaz de prever a demanda por serviços de urgência e emergência em um ano entre moradores de Pelotas, no estado do Rio Grande do Sul.

RESUMO Objetivo: To describe the initial baseline results of a population-based study, as well as a protocol in order to evaluate the performance of different machine learning algorithms with the objective of predicting the demand for urgent and emergency services in a representative sample of adults from the urban area of Pelotas, Southern Brazil. Methods: The study is entitled “Emergency department use and Artificial Intelligence in PELOTAS (RS) (EAI PELOTAS)” (https://wp.ufpel.edu.br/eaipelotas/). Between September and December 2021, a baseline was carried out with participants. A follow-up was planned to be conducted after 12 months in order to assess the use of urgent and emergency services in the last year. Afterwards, machine learning algorithms will be tested to predict the use of urgent and emergency services over one year. Results: In total, 5,722 participants answered the survey, mostly females (66.8%), with an average age of 50.3 years. The mean number of household people was 2.6. Most of the sample has white skin color and incomplete elementary school or less. Around 30% of the sample has obesity, 14% diabetes, and 39% hypertension. Conclusion: The present paper presented a protocol describing the steps that were and will be taken to produce a model capable of predicting the demand for urgent and emergency services in one year among residents of Pelotas, in Rio Grande do Sul state.

Abstract Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is an important cause of death among patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Valve calcification is a predictor of cardiovascular mortality and coronary artery disease. Objective: To assess heart valve disease frequency, associated factors, and progression in CKD patients. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study on 291 CKD patients at Hospital das Clínicas de Pernambuco. Inclusion criteria were age ≥ 18 with CKD and valve disease, while those on conservative management or with missing data were excluded. Clinical and laboratory variables were compared, and patients were categorized by dialysis duration (<5 years; 5–10 years; >10 years). Statistical tests, including chi-square, Fisher’s exact, ANOVA, and Kruskal-Wallis, were employed as needed. Simple and multivariate binary regression models were used to analyze valve disease associations with dialysis duration. Significance was defined as p < 0.05. Results: Mitral valve disease was present in 82.5% (240) of patients, followed by aortic valve disease (65.6%; 86). Over time, 106 (36.4%) patients developed valve disease. No significant association was found between aortic, pulmonary, mitral, or tricuspid valve disease and dialysis duration. Secondary hyperparathyroidism was the sole statistically significant factor for mitral valve disease in the regression model (OR 2.59 [95% CI: 1.09–6.18]; p = 0.031). Conclusion: CKD patients on renal replacement therapy exhibit a high frequency of valve disease, particularly mitral and aortic valve disease. However, no link was established between dialysis duration and valve disease occurrence or progression.

Resumo Introdução: Doenças cardiovasculares são uma causa significativa de morte em pacientes com Doença Renal Crônica (DRC). A calcificação valvar é preditor de mortalidade cardiovascular e doença arterial coronariana. Objetivo: Avaliar a frequência, fatores associados e progressão de valvopatias em pacientes com DRC. Métodos: Coorte retrospectiva com 291 pacientes ambulatoriais no Hospital das Clínicas de Pernambuco. Inclusão: ≥18 anos com DRC e valvopatia; exclusão: tratamento conservador ou dados incompletos. Variáveis clínicas e laboratoriais foram comparadas e categorizadas por tempo de terapia dialítica (TTD): <5 anos, 5–10 anos, >10 anos. Foram aplicados os testes Qui-quadrado, exato de Fisher, ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis. Associação entre valvopatia e TTD foi avaliada por regressão binária. Significância foi definida como p < 0,05. Resultados: A valvopatia mitral foi encontrada em 82,5% (240) dos casos, seguida da aórtica (65,6%; 86). Houve progressão da doença valvar em 106 (36,4%) pacientes. Não houve associação entre valvopatias aórtica, pulmonar, mitral ou tricúspide e TTD. Hiperparatireoidismo secundário foi a única variável explicativa significativa na regressão para valvopatia mitral (OR 2,59 [IC95%: 1,09–6,18]; p = 0,031). Conclusão: Encontramos alta frequência de valvopatias, especialmente mitral e aórtica, aem pacientes com DRC. Não houve associação entre TTD e valvopatia.

Abstract Outside the aesthetic and institutional framework of what was conventionally called classic cinematographic art, there was a thriving group of film acting performances — mostly experimental — whose aesthetic program was to take a thesis that pervades much of the acting theory to its performative dimension (in theater and cinema): his holiness, possession, or mysticism. This work intends, then, to make up a genealogy of acting forms in cinema that generated this thesis of transcendentality of the actor's work through Christian iconography, but degraded by its surroundings marked by violence, hunger and injustice. Thus, anticlericalism and a heritage of the visual arts serve as a methodological basis for accessing this proposal of a genealogical study of experimental film acting forms in three thematic fields: 1) revelation; 2) the crucifixion and the Christic figure; 3) the Pieta and the Mater Dolorosa.

Resumo Fora do enquadramento estético e institucional do que se convencionou chamar de arte cinematográfica clássica, houve um pujante grupo de manifestações atorais no cinema — majoritariamente de vertente experimental — cujo programa foi levar para a dimensão performativa de seu métier uma tese que perpassa muito da teoria do ator (no teatro e no cinema): sua santidade, possessão ou misticismo. Este trabalho intenta, então, perfazer uma genealogia de formas atorais no cinema que figuravam essa tese da transcendentalidade do trabalho do ator por meio da iconografia cristã, degradada nesses filmes pelo seu entorno marcado por violência, fome e injustiça. Assim, anticlericalismo e herança das artes visuais servem de base metodológica para acessar essa proposta de genealogia das formas atorais experimentais no cinema em três principais vias temáticas: 1) a revelação; 2) a crucificação e figura crística; 3) a Pietá e a Mater Dolorosa.

Abstract The ornamental plant sector is growing due to the development of new species and technologies. The focus of research is to extend the shelf life of cut flowers to maintain quality and customer satisfaction. Techniques such as storage at low temperatures, use of preservative solutions, and new technologies such as nanotechnology can help maintain the quality of the floral stem. The present review aims to analyze various techniques used to extend the post-harvest shelf life of floral stems. For this purpose, a systematic search was conducted on major indexing platforms for studies published in 2023, which were subjected to a meta-analysis. The global effect size and moderator effects were calculated to assist in decision-making for future studies in floriculture. The results indicated that the addition of preservatives to solutions, variations in storage temperature, and the use of electromagnetic fields were the most effective techniques in extending the shelf life of cut flowers. However, techniques such as dry conditioning and the use of coating films did not show significant results in maintaining commercial quality. It was found that conservative solution research is still the main focus of research at major cut flower technology centers. The meta-analysis highlights the importance of further deepening and/or improving research on techniques that have shown less effective results, and developing new technologies to prolong the vase life of floral stems in order to improve post-harvest quality.

Resumo O setor de plantas ornamentais está crescendo devido ao desenvolvimento de novas espécies e tecnologias. O foco da pesquisa é estender a vida útil das flores cortadas para manter a qualidade e a satisfação do cliente. Técnicas como armazenamento em baixas temperaturas, uso de soluções conservantes e novas tecnologias como a nanotecnologia podem ajudar a manter a qualidade da haste floral. A presente revisão tem como objetivo analisar diversas técnicas utilizadas para prolongar a vida útil de hastes florais pós-colheita. Para tal, foi realizada uma busca sistemática nas principais plataformas indexadoras de estudos publicados em 2023, os quais foram submetidos a uma meta-análise. Calculou-se o tamanho do efeito global e o efeito por moderadores, com o intuito de auxiliar na tomada de decisão para futuros estudos na floricultura. Os resultados indicaram que a adição de conservantes nas soluções, variações nas temperaturas de armazenamento e o uso de campos eletromagnéticos foram as técnicas mais eficazes para prolongar a vida útil das hastes florais em vasos. No entanto, técnicas como o condicionamento a seco e o uso de filmes de revestimento não apresentaram resultados significativos em manter a qualidade comercial. Foi verificado que as pesquisas com soluções conservantes ainda são o principal foco dos trabalhos de grandes centros de tecnologia de flores de corte. A meta-análise destaca a importância de aprofundar e/ou aperfeiçoar as pesquisas em técnicas que apresentaram resultados menos eficazes e desenvolver novas tecnologias para prolongar a vida útil das hastes florais, a fim de melhorar a qualidade pós-colheita.

Abstract Aims Although reduced life expectancy in Parkinson's Disease (PD) patients has been related to severe cardiac arrhythmias due to autonomic dysfunctions, its molecular mechanisms remain unclear. To investigate the role of cardiac β1-Adrenergic (β1AR) and A1-Adenosine (A1R) receptors in these dysfunctions, the pharmacological effects of stimulation of cardiac β1AR (isoproterenol, ISO), in the absence and presence of cardiac β1AR (atenolol, AT) or A1R (1,3-dipropyl-8-cyclopentyl xanthine, DPCPX) blockade, on the arrhythmias induced by Ischemia/Reperfusion (CIR) in an animal PD model were studied. Methods PD was produced by dopaminergic lesions (confirmed by immunohistochemistry analysis) caused by the injection of 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA, 6 μg) in rat striatum. CIR was produced by a surgical interruption for 10 min followed by reestablishment of blood circulation in the descendent left coronary artery. On the incidence of CIR-Induced Ventricular Arrhythmias (VA), Atrioventricular Block (AVB), and Lethality (LET), evaluated by Electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis, the effects of intravenous treatment with ISO, AT and DPCPX (before CIR) were studied. Results VA, AVB and LET incidences were significantly higher in 6-OHDA (83%, 92%, 100%, respectively) than in control rats (58%, 67% and 67%, respectively). ISO treatment significantly reduced these incidences in 6-OHDA (33%, 33% and 42%, respectively) and control rats (25%, 25%, 33%, respectively), indicating that stimulation of cardiac β1AR induced cardioprotection. This response was prevented by pretreatment with AT and DPCPX, confirming the involvement of cardiac β1AR and A1R. Conclusion Pharmacological modulation of cardiac β1AR and A1R could be a potential therapeutic strategy to reduce severe arrhythmias and increase life expectancy in PD patients.

Abstract: Introduction: The occurrence of pandemics, such as Covid-19, leads to a psychosocial disturbance that can break the limits of the population’s coping capacity, generating tensions and anxieties that are expressed in various degrees among those involved. Objective: To analyze the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of medical students in the State of Pernambuco. Methods: Cross-sectional analytical study conducted between July and August 2021 with medical students from 11 universities in Pernambuco. The dependent variables analyzed were the scores of anxiety, depression; the independent variables were resilience score, socio-demographic, behavioral characteristics and health conditions. The data were collected through Google Forms. Beck’s Anxiety and Depression Inventories, and Wagnild and Young’s Resilience Scale were applied. The study was approved by the local ethics committee and informed consent was sought and given. The data were analyzed using SPSS 25, considering as significant a p-value < 0,05. Result: 416 participants were included, the majority (60.9%) of the students were women, the average age was 25 years, and 73.8% of them lived in the municipality of their university. Moderate and severe anxiety symptoms were found in 27.2% and 10.3% of the sample, respectively. Moderate depressive symptoms were observed in 17.8% of the students. About 25% of the sample reported a low or very low degree of resilience. High resilience (Odds Ratio [OR] 0.18 [0.08-0.41]; p <0.001) and psychological support prior to the pandemic (OR 0.36 [0.14-0.95]; p = 0 .04) were protective factors and attending the clinical cycle (2nd-3rd year) was an independent risk factor (OR 1.95 [1.07-3.55]; p = 0.02) for moderate to severe anxiety. High resilience (OR 0.01 [0.02-0.11]; p < 0.001 and returning to one’s hometown during the suspension of classes (OR 0.41 [0.18-0.91]; p = 0.02) were protective factors and attending the clinical cycle was an independent risk factor (OR 2.74 [1.26-5.93]; p = 0.01) for moderate to severe depression. Conclusion: We found a high prevalence of moderate and severe anxiety symptoms, as well as moderate depressive symptoms. A high proportion of students demonstrated a low or very low degree of resilience.

Resumo: Introdução: As pandemias, como a de Covid-19, resultam em perturbação psicossocial que pode romper os limites da capacidade de enfrentamento, de modo a gerar tensões e angústias que se expressam variavelmente entre os envolvidos. Objetivo: analisar as repercussões da pandemia de Covid-19 na saúde mental de estudantes de Medicina do estado de Pernambuco. Método: estudo transversal e descritivo-analítico realizado entre julho e agosto de 2021 com estudantes de Medicina das 11 faculdades de Pernambuco. Como variáveis dependentes, foram analisados os escores de ansiedade e depressão. Quanto às variáveis independentes, foram estudadas: escore de resiliência, características sociodemográficas e comportamentais, e condições de saúde. A coleta dos dados foi realizada por meio da plataforma Google Forms. Aplicaram-se o Inventário de Beck para ansiedade e depressão e a escala de resiliência de Wagnild e Young. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa do Centro Universitário Maurício de Nassau, e os participantes concordaram o Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido. Os dados foram analisados pelo programa SPSS 25, considerando significativo valor p < 0,05. Resultado: participaram da pesquisa 416 estudantes. A amostra foi composta predominantemente por mulheres (60,9%), com idade média de 25 anos, das quais 73,8% tinham residência fixa no município da faculdade. Sintomas de ansiedade moderada e grave foram verificados em 27,2% e 10,3% dos avaliados, respectivamente. Observaram-se sintomas depressivos moderados em 17,8% dos estudantes. Cerca de 25% da amostra apresentou grau de resiliência baixo ou muito baixo. Resiliência alta (razão de chances [RC] = 0,18 [0,08-0,41]; p < 0,001) e suporte psicológico anterior à pandemia (RC = 0,36 [0,14-0,95]; p = 0,04) foram fatores de proteção; e cursar o ciclo clínico (quinto-oitavo períodos) foi fator de risco independente (RC = 1,95 [1,07-3,55]; p = 0,02) para ansiedade de moderada a grave. Resiliência alta (RC = 0,01 [0,02-0,11]; p < 0,001 e retornar à cidade natal durante a suspensão das aulas (RC = 0,41 [0,18-0,91]; p = 0,02) foram fatores protetores; e cursar o ciclo clínico foi fator de risco independente (RC = 2,74 [1,26-5,93]; p = 0,01) para depressão de moderada a grave. Conclusão: verificou-se uma alta prevalência de sintomas de ansiedade de moderada e grave, bem como de sintomas depressivos moderados. Um alta proporção dos estudantes apresentou grau de resiliência baixo ou muito baixo.

Abstract This study presents the first complete mitogenome of the Brazilian Atlantic bushmaster Lachesis with insights into snake evolution. The total length was 17,177 bp, consisting of 13 PCGs, 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs and a duplicate control region (CRs). Almost all genes were encoded by the heavy-strand, except for the ND6 gene and eight tRNAs (tRNA-Gln, Ala, Asn, Cys, Tyr, Ser[TGA anticodon], Glu, Pro). Only ATG, ATA, and ATC were starting codons for protein-coding sequences. Stop codons mainly were TAA, AGA, AGG, and TAG; whereas ND1, ND3, and CYTB terminated with incomplete stop codons. Phylogeny retrieved Lachesis within the Crotalinae as the sister group of Agkistrodon; and the Lachesis+Agkistrodon clade as the sister group of (Sistrurus+Crotalus)+Bothrops. The tree supports Crotalinae, Viperinae, and Azemiopinae in the Viperidae family, being sister taxa of Colubridae+(Elapidae+Psammophiidae). The mean genetic distance across 15 snake families and 57 nucleotide sequences was 0.37. The overall mean value of genetic distance across the Crotalinae was 0.23, with Lachesis muta exhibiting the shortest distance of 0.2 with Agkistrodon piscivorus, Protobothrops dabieshanensis and P. flavoviridis and the greatest 0.25 with Gloydius blomhoffii, Trimeresurus albolabris, S. miliarius, and Deinagkistrodon acutus. The complete Atlantic L. muta mitogenome presented herein is only the third annotated mitogenome from more than 430 described Brazilian snake species.

Abstract Intense soil preparation and disturbance in crops, over time, reduces the quantity and quality of soil organic matter. Given this context, this work aimed to determine soil carbon stocks and labile fractions under agroforestry system (AFS) and toposequences in an altitude marsh, Taquaritinga do Norte, Pernambuco, Brazil. The study was carried out at the Yaguara farm, and the areas studied were native forest with 4.57 ha and coffee plantation in shade with native forest with 25.59 ha. Soil samples were collected in four trenches measuring 1.5 x 1.5 x 0.60 m, with a distance of 50 meters. Soils were collected at depths of 0-20, 20-40 and 40-60 cm, followed by chemical, physical and density analyzes to determine soil carbon stocks and labile fractions. The area with shaded coffee showed higher values of soil carbon stocks at depths of 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm. At a depth of 40-60 cm, the AFS top toposequence showed the highest carbon stock with 11.73 Mg ha-1, followed by the area with native vegetation with 10.6 Mg ha-1, slope with 9.23 Mg ha-1 and pediment with 7.00 Mg ha-1. It was found that the top toposequence with shaded coffee exhibited a greater stock of labile carbon at depth 0-20 cm with a value of 1.06 Mg ha-1, followed by the bedding areas (SAF) with 0.88 Mg ha-1, native forest with 0.79 Mg ha-1 and slope with 0.67 g kg-1. However, the area of native vegetation showed the highest value of labile carbon at a depth of 40-60 cm. It was concluded that the area with shaded coffee in the top toposequence showed great capacity to increase total carbon stocks and labile carbon stocks of soil organic matter.

Resumo O intenso preparo e revolvimento do solo em cultivos, com o tempo, reduz a quantidade e a qualidade da matéria orgânica do solo. Diante desse contexto, este trabalho teve como objetivo determinar os estoques de carbono do solo e frações lábeis sob sistema agroflorestal (SAF) e topossequências em brejo de altitude, em Taquaritinga do Norte, Pernambuco, Brasil. O estudo foi desenvolvido na fazenda Yaguara, e as áreas estudadas foram mata nativa com 4,57 ha e plantio de café sombreado com mata nativa com 25,59 ha. As amostras de solos foram coletadas em quatro trincheiras 1,5 x 1,5 x 0,60 m, com distância de 50 metros. Foram coletados solos nas profundidades de 0-20, 20-40 e 40-60 cm, seguido de análises químicas, físicas e densidade para determinação dos estoques de carbono no solo e frações lábeis. A área com café sombreado apresentou maiores valores de estoques de carbono no solo nas profundidades de 0-20 cm e 20-40 cm. Na profundidade de 40-60 cm, a topossequência de topo do SAF apresentou maior estoque de carbono com 11,73 Mg ha-1, seguido da área com vegetação nativa com 10,6 Mg ha-1 , encosta com 9,23 Mg ha-1 e pedimento com 7,00 Mg ha-1. Verificou-se que a topossequência de topo com café sombreado exibiu maior estoque de carbono lábil na profundidade 0-20 cm com o valor de 1,06 Mg ha-1, sucedido das áreas de pedimento (SAF) com 0,88 Mg ha-1, mata nativa com 0,79 Mg ha-1e encosta com 0,67 Mg ha-1. No entanto, a área de vegetação nativa apresentou o maior valor de carbono lábil na profundidade de 40-60 cm. Concluiu-se que a área com café sombreado na topossequência topo mostrou grande capacidade para elevar os estoques de carbono total e estoques de carbono lábil da matéria orgânica do solo.

Resumo Este estudo avaliou os instrumentos Reciproc R25 e Pro-R 25 sem uso, após um primeiro e um segundo uso em retratamento endodôntico com perfilômetro 3D por interferometria de luz sem contato, microscópio eletrônico de varredura (MEV) e testes de fadiga cíclica. Vinte dentes unirradiculares foram instrumentados com Reciproc R25 e obturados com guta-percha e cimento endodôntico. Um perfilômetro 3D com uma objetiva 20x usando o software Mx ™ foi usado para avaliar as superfícies da lâmina de corte do Reciproc e Pro-R (n = 5 por grupo) na condição sem uso, após o primeiro e após um segundo uso em procedimentos de retratamento. Após retratamento, o MEV foi usado para avaliar as características topográficas dos instrumentos utilizados. Testes de fadiga cíclica foram realizados para comparar instrumentos novos com instrumentos usados. O teste One-way ANOVA seguido pelo teste de Tukey foi usado para comparar os instrumentos testados nos diferentes estágios. Para comparar os diferentes instrumentos e para avaliação de fadiga cílcica, foi utilizado o Student t-test. Não foram observadas diferenças estatisticamente significantes nas superfícies das lâminas de corte dos instrumentos Reciproc e Pro-R antes e após um e dois usos (p> 0,05). O Reciproc na condição sem uso apresentou maior Sa e Sq quando comparado ao Pro-R (p <0,05). Não foram observadas diferenças entre Reciproc e Pro-R após um e dois usos (p> 0,05). O Reciproc sem uso apresentou maior tempo de fratura do que os instrumentos Pro-R (p<0,05), e apenas o Pro-R apresentou diferenças entre instrumentos novos e usados (p<0,05). Os procedimentos de retratamento com Reciproc e Pro-R não alteraram a topografia da superfície dos instrumentos. Reciproc apresentou maior resistência à fadiga cíclica em comparação com o Pro-R.

Abstract This study evaluated the Reciproc R25 and Pro-R 25 instruments in unused condition, after one and a second use in endodontic retreatment employing a noncontact 3D light interferometer profiler, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and cyclic fatigue tests. Twenty single-root teeth were instrumented with Reciproc R25 and filled with gutta-percha and sealer. A 3D profiler with a 20x objective using the Mx™ software was used to evaluate the cutting blade surfaces of Reciproc R25 and Pro-R 25 (n=5 per group) in unused condition, after the first and second uses in retreatment procedures. After retreatment, SEM was used to evaluate the topographic features of the used instruments. Cyclic fatigue tests were performed to compare new to used instruments. One-way ANOVA followed by Tukey test was used to compare the tested instruments before and after the first and second uses. Student t-test was used to compare the different instruments and for cyclic fatigue evaluation. No significant differences were observed in the cutting blade surfaces of Reciproc and Pro-R before and after one and two uses (p>0.05). Reciproc without use showed higher Sa and Sq when compared to Pro-R without use (p<0.05). No differences were observed between Reciproc and Pro-R after one and two uses (p>0.05). New and unused Reciproc showed longer time to fracture than Pro-R instruments (p<0.05), and only Pro-R showed differences between new and used instruments (p<0.05). Retreatment procedures with Reciproc and Pro-R did not change the surface topography of instruments. Reciproc had greater resistance to cyclic fatigue compared with Pro-R.

RESUMO O objetivo foi avaliar a divergência genética entre acessos de espécies silvestres e híbridos interespecíficos F1 de tomateiro. Caracterizou-se seis acessos silvestres (Solanum pimpinellifolium ‘AF 26970’, S. galapagense ‘LA-1401’, S. peruvianum ‘AF 19684’, S. habrochaites var. hirsutum ‘PI-127826’, S. habrochaites var. glabratum ‘PI-134417’ e S. pennellii ‘LA-716’), a cultivar comercial Redenção e os respectivos híbridos interespecíficos F1: ‘Redenção’ x ‘AF 26970’, ‘Redenção’ x ‘LA-1401’, ‘Redenção’ x ‘AF 19684’, ‘Redenção’ x ‘PI-127826’, ‘Redenção’ x ‘PI-134417’ e ‘Redenção’ x ‘LA-716’. Foram avaliados 35 caracteres quantitativos, sendo 29 morfoagronômicos e seis fisiológicos. Realizou-se análises de componentes principais (ACP). Utilizou-se os métodos de otimização de Tocher, baseado na distância de Mahalanobis e a dispersão gráfica das variáveis canônicas, que seguiram a mesma tendência de agrupamento dos genótipos, formando três grupos distintos. As ACP permitiram observar algumas divergências genéticas não observadas pelos demais métodos. Ocorreu alta divergência entre os acessos das espécies e híbridos interespecíficos. A cultivar Redenção teve a maior dissimilaridade genética e os híbridos interespecíficos de S. lycopersicum com acessos silvestres, apresentaram maior similaridade morfoagronômica e fisiológica com os genitores silvestres.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the genetic divergence among accessions of wild tomato species and interspecific F1 hybrids. Six wild accessions were characterized (Solanum pimpinellifolium ‘AF 26970’, S. galapagense ‘LA-1401’, S. peruvianum ‘AF 19684’, S. habrochaites var. hirsutum ‘PI-127826’, S. habrochaites var. glabratum ‘PI-134417’, and S. pennellii ‘LA-716’), the commercial cultivar Redenção, and the respective interspecific F1 hybrids: ‘Redenção’ x ‘AF 26970’, ‘Redenção’ x ‘LA-1401’, ‘Redenção’ x ‘AF 19684’, ‘Redenção’ x ‘PI-127826’, ‘Redenção’ x ‘PI-134417’, and ‘Redenção’ x ‘LA-716’. Thirty-five quantitative traits were evaluated, encompassing 29 morphoagronomic and six physiological characteristics. Principal component analysis (PCA) was performed. Tocher’s optimization method was used based on the Mahalanobis distance and the graphic dispersion of canonical variables, which followed the same trend of genotype clustering, forming three distinct groups. The PCA indicated some genetic divergences not shown by the other methods. A high divergence was observed among the species accessions and interspecific hybrids. The cultivar Redenção had the greatest genetic dissimilarity, and the interspecific hybrids of S. lycopersicum with wild accessions showed the greatest morphoagronomic and physiological similarity with the wild parents.
