RESUMO A fenologia vegetal auxilia na compreensão da dinâmica e manutenção dos processos ecológicos nos ecossistemas, pois pode predizer a periodicidade dos eventos. Neste estudo, caracterizamos o comportamento reprodutivo e vegetativo de três espécies vegetais lenhosas: Byrsonima microphylla A.Juss. (Malpighiaceae), Chamaecrista ramosa (Vogel) H.S.Irwin & Barneby (Fabaceae) e Vellozia dasypus Seub. (Velloziaceae). Dez indivíduos de cada espécie foram acompanhados mensalmente, de outubro 2014 até setembro 2015, em uma área de restinga no Estado da Bahia. Floração e frutificação foram contínuas em B. microphylla e C. ramosa, e anual explosiva em V. dasypus, com valores intermediários e máximos de sincronicidade. As espécies são perenifólias, e as fenofases não têm correlação com os fatores abióticos. B. microphylla e C. ramosa apresentaram simultaneidade de flores e frutos em diferentes estágios, tornando os recursos disponíveis à guilda de visitantes florais e frugívoros ao longo do ano, o que torna essas espécies comuns em restingas fontes importantes de recursos, sobretudo quando considerando a sazonalidade deste ecossistema.

ABSTRACT Plant phenology helps to understand the dynamics and maintenance of ecological processes in ecosystems, because it can predict the frequency of these events. In this study, we characterize the reproductive and vegetative phenology of three annual woody plant species: Byrsonima microphylla A.Juss. (Malpighiaceae), Chamaecrista ramosa (Vogel) H.S.Irwin & Barneby (Fabaceae) and Vellozia dasypus Seub. (Veloziaceae). Ten individuals of each species were monitored monthly, from October 2014 to September 2015, during a year in apatch of resting in the Brazilian State of Bahia. Flowering and fruiting were continuous in both B. microphylla and C. ramosa, but annual it was more synchronized in V. dasypus. All species phenophases showed no direct correlation with abiotic factors studied. Having flowers and fruits in different stages makes resources available to animal of floral and fruit visitors throughout the year highlighting the importance of these common restinga species, especially when considering the seasonality of this ecosystem.

RESUMO A janaúba, Himatanthus bracteatus (A. DC.) Woodson é uma espécie nativa da Mata Atlântica, restrita às regiões Nordeste e Sudeste do Brasil, que apresenta potencial paisagístico e de uso na recuperação de áreas degradadas. Considerando que informações acerca dos seus mecanismos reprodutivos são escassos, este estudo objetivou descrever os aspectos fenológicos e a morfologia e biologia floral de H. bracteatus em um remanescente urbano de Salvador (BA). Mensalmente, entre agosto de 2008 e agosto de 2009, foram registrados a intensidade das fenofases (floração, frutificação e brotamento), aspectos relativos à morfologia e ao desenvolvimento floral em 15 indivíduos adultos. Flores e frutos ocorreram praticamente ao longo de todos os meses, com o pico da floração associado ao período chuvoso, e a dispersão de sementes ocorre pelo vento. As flores são brancas, bissexuais, cleistogâmicas e com duração de abertura superior a 24 horas, sugerindo um processo de polinização mais elaborado, dependente de visitantes especializados de hábito noturno ou diurno para a sua reprodução.

ABSTRACT Janaúba, Himatanthus bracteatus (A. DC.) Woodson is a species native to the Atlantic Forest and restricted to the northeastern and southeastern regions of Brazil, and has potential as ornamental or in the recovery of degraded areas. Considering that the information about its reproductive mechanisms is scarce, this study aimed to describe the aspects of the phenology, morphology, and floral biology of H. bracteatus in an urban remnant of Atlantic Forest in Salvador (State of Bahia). Monthly, from August 2008 to August 2009, we recorded the intensity of the phenophases (flowering, fruiting, and budding), aspects of the morphology, and floral development in 15 adult individuals. Flowers and fruits occurred almost throughout the month; the flowering peak was associated with the rainy season, and the seeds dispersion occurred through the wind. Flowers are white, bisexual, cleistogamous and remain open for more than 24 hours, suggesting a more elaborate pollination process, dependent on nocturnal and diurnal specialist visitors for their reproduction.

Ipomoea eriocalyx Meisn. é uma espécie nativa, de distribuição restrita a alguns estados do Nordeste e Sudeste, sendo limitada aos domínios fitogeográficos da Caatinga e Mata Atlântica. O presente estudo objetivou investigar aspectos da floração, biologia floral e o mecanismo de polinização de I. eriocalyx, em um remanescente urbano de Mata Atlântica, em Salvador (BA), visando registrar, também, dados ecológicos. A floração e frutificação de I. eriocalyx foram contínuas ao longo do ano. As flores são conspícuas, de formato infundibiliforme, apresentam antese diurna, e oferecem pólen, e possivelmente néctar como recurso floral. Apesar das características melitófilas, as flores também são atrativas a outros visitantes florais, tais como borboletas, moscas e besouro. Ipomoea eriocalyx é autocompatível, e adicionalmente, apresenta as abelhas [Ceratina (Crewella) spp. e Melitoma segmentaria] como polinizadores principais, fatos que podem favorecer o seu estabelecimento em ambientes antropizados.

Ipomoea eriocalyx Meisn. is a native Brazilian species, with distribution restricted to states in the northeastern and southeastern regions, limited to Caatinga and Atlantic Forest phytogeographic domains. This study aimed to investigate aspects of flowering, floral biology and the pollination mechanism of I. eriocalyx in an urban remnant of Atlantic Forest, Bahia, including ecological data. Flowering and fruiting of I. eriocalyx were continuous throughout the year. Flowers are showy, infundibiliform, with diurnal anthesis, and offer pollen and possibly nectar as floral resources. Although they present melittophilous features, the flowers are also attractive to other flower visitors, such as butterflies, flies and beetles. Ipomoea eriocalyx is self-compatible and has bees [(Ceratina (Crewella) spp. Melitomasegmentaria] as the main pollinators, a fact that could favor its establishment in anthropogenic environments.
