ABSTRACT: This research evaluated the agronomic performance through mixed models, and determined the genetic divergence between black oat genotypes. The experiment was carried out at Federal University of Santa Maria, Frederico Westphalen/RS. Fourteen black oat genotypes were evaluated, being 11 lines developed by Breeding Program of University, and three commercial cultivars (IAPAR 61, UPFA 21 - Moreninha and, IPR Cabocla). We evaluated quantitative traits associated to plant height, cycle, dry mass yield and seeds yield; and 19 qualitative traits, being these morphological descriptors. The results showed that lines UFSMFW 2-05 and UFSMFW 2-07 stand out with characteristics such as early cycle, higher dry mass and grain yield. Divergence analysis revealed the formation of three distinct groups, indicating the presence of variability. These results suggested the potential for the development of new cultivars of black oat, presenting early cycle and good grain yield.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho agronômico por meio de modelos mistos e determinar a divergência genética entre genótipos de aveia preta. O experimento foi conduzido na Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, campus de Frederico Westphalen/RS. Catorze genótipos de aveia preta foram avaliados, sendo 11 linhagens desenvolvidas pelo Programa de Melhoramento da Universidade e três cultivares comercias (IAPAR 61, UPFA 21 - Moreninha e IPR Cabocla). Foram avaliadas características agronômicas quantitativas relacionadas ao porte, ciclo e produtividade de massa seca e de sementes; e 19 características qualitativas, sendo estes descritores morfológicos. Os resultados mostraram que as linhagens UFSMFW 2-05 e UFSMFW 2-07 se destacam com características como ciclo precoce, elevada produtividade de massa seca e de sementes. A análise de divergência revelou a formação de três grupos distintos, indicando presença de variabilidade. Os resultados demonstram o potencial de desenvolvimento de novas cultivares de aveia preta, apresentando precocidade e boa produtividade de sementes.

Abstract This research aims to identify the effects of access to rural credit, as well as the amount of resources on the levels of income, employment, productivity and sustainability in the state of Rio de Janeiro, with emphasis on the municipalities that make up the Serrana region in comparison to other municipalities in the state, which are characterized by family production. Specifically, the agents that use the National Program for the Strengthening of Family Farming - Pronaf, which are of strategic importance for sustainable regional development, are analyzed. The impacts obtained with access to the resource will be verified, as well as the importance of public policies in stimulating the sector. For this, econometric models were developed using the MQO method, complemented by quantile regression. In addition, an index aimed at evaluating the degree of sustainable regional rural development in the regions studied (IDRSR) was designed through factor analysis of data. After using official data from the 2017 agricultural census and the BACEN, it was observed that credit via PRONAF has a positive impact on the variables employment, income and productivity, but presents a negative correlation with the Rural Regional Sustainable Development Index developed in this research.

Resumo Este artigo visa a identificar os efeitos do acesso ao crédito rural bem como o volume de recursos nos níveis de renda, emprego, produtividade e sustentabilidade no estado do Rio de Janeiro, com destaque para os municípios que compõem a região Serrana em comparação com os demais municípios do estado que sejam caracterizados pela produção familiar. Especificamente, são analisados os agentes que utilizam o Programa Nacional de Fortalecimento da Agricultura Familiar - Pronaf, os quais têm importância estratégica para o desenvolvimento regional sustentável - DRS. Serão verificados os impactos obtidos com o acesso ao recurso, assim como sua importância advinda de políticas públicas no estímulo ao setor. Para isso, foram desenvolvidos modelos econométricos utilizando o método de MQO, complementado por regressão quantílica. Além disso, foi concebido, através da análise fatorial de dados, um índice direcionado a avaliar o grau de desenvolvimento regional sustentável rural nas regiões estudadas (IDRSR). Após utilizar dados oficiais do censo agropecuário 2017 e do BACEN, foi observado que o crédito via PRONAF tem impacto positivo nas variáveis emprego, renda e produtividade, porém apresenta correlação negativa perante o Índice de Desenvolvimento Regional Sustentável Rural desenvolvido nesta pesquisa.

Resumo: Este artigo objetiva, de modo geral, identificar os impactos das novas tecnologias de informação e de comunicação no acesso à justiça e no exercício da jurisdição, tendo como objetivos específicos: (i) examinar a transformação digital via utilização das TICs como fator de promoção do acesso à justiça e do devido processo legal; (ii) identificar eventuais limites à utilização das inovações tecnológicas, a exemplo da Inteligência Artificial, no âmbito do Poder Judiciário, sem olvidar a situação limitante dos excluídos digitais; e (iii) avaliar os aspectos positivos e negativos da ampliação do teletrabalho no Poder Judiciário como corolário do avanço tecnológico. As TICs auxiliam o Poder Judiciário no exercício da sua atividade típica de julgar e atípica de administrar. Todavia, é preciso resguardar os direitos da personalidade dos excluídos digitais, isto é, de parcela da população que não detém acesso a algumas das tecnologias que permitem a virtualização do sistema de justiça. Como problema de pesquisa, pretende-se discutir quais são os impactos das novas tecnologias da informação e de comunicação no acesso à justiça e no exercício da jurisdição. O método de procedimento utilizado é o hipotético-dedutivo. A técnica de pesquisa é a bibliográfica. Aventa-se, como hipótese, que o Poder Judiciário, enquanto instrumento de tutela de direitos fundamentais e da personalidade, ao exercer a tomada de decisão, com base em instrumentos de tecnologias de informação e de comunicação, promove a ampliação do acesso à justiça e a otimização do serviço público da justiça, desde que respeitada a posição jurídica dos excluídos digitais.

Abstract: This article aims, in general, to identify the impacts of new information and communication technologies on access to justice and the exercise of jurisdiction, with the following specific objectives: (i) examining the digital transformation through the use of ICTs as a factor for promoting access to justice and due process; and (ii) identify possible limits to the use of technological innovations, such as Artificial Intelligence, within the scope of the Judiciary, without forgetting the limiting situation of the digitally excluded; and (iii) evaluate the positive and negative aspects of the expansion of teleworking in the Judiciary as a corollary of technological progress. ICTs help the Judiciary in exercising its typical activity of judging and atypical of administering. However, it is necessary to protect the personality rights of the digitally excluded, that is, of the population that does not have access to some of the technologies that allow the virtualization of the justice system. As a research problem, we intend to discuss the impacts of new information and communication technologies on access to justice and the exercise of jurisdiction. The procedure method used is hypothetical-deductive. The research technique is bibliographical. It is suggested, as a hypothesis, that the Judiciary, as an instrument for the protection of fundamental rights and personality, when exercising decision-making, whether judicial or administrative, based on instruments of information and communication technologies, promotes the expansion of access to justice and optimization of the public service of justice, as long as the legal position of the digitally excluded is respected.

Abstract Background Cardiovascular complications of COVID-19 are important aspects of the disease’s pathogenesis and prognosis. Evidence on the prognostic role of troponin and myocardial injury in Latin American hospitalized COVID-19 patients is still scarce. Objectives To evaluate myocardial injury as independent predictor of in-hospital mortality and invasive mechanical ventilation support in hospitalized patients, from the Brazilian COVID-19 Registry. Methods This cohort study is a substudy of the Brazilian COVID-19 Registry, conducted in 31 Brazilian hospitals of 17 cities, March-September 2020. Primary outcomes included in-hospital mortality and invasive mechanical ventilation support. Models for the primary outcomes were estimated by Poisson regression with robust variance, with statistical significance of p<0.05. Results Of 2,925 patients (median age of 60 years [48-71], 57.1% men), 27.3% presented myocardial injury. The proportion of patients with comorbidities was higher among patients with cardiac injury (median 2 [1-2] vs. 1 [0-2]). Patients with myocardial injury had higher median levels of brain natriuretic peptide, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine phosphokinase, N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide, and C-reactive protein than patients without myocardial injury. As independent predictors, C-reactive protein and platelet counts were related to the risk of death, and neutrophils and platelet counts were related to the risk of invasive mechanical ventilation support. Patients with high troponin levels presented a higher risk of death (RR 2.03, 95% CI 1.60-2.58) and invasive mechanical ventilation support (RR 1.87, 95% CI 1.57-2.23), when compared to those with normal troponin levels. Conclusion Cardiac injury was an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality and the need for invasive mechanical ventilation support in hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Resumo Fundamento As complicações cardiovasculares da COVID-19 são aspectos importantes da patogênese e do prognóstico da doença. Evidências do papel prognóstico da troponina e da lesão miocárdica em pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19 na América Latina são ainda escassos. Objetivos Avaliar a lesão miocárdica como preditor independente de mortalidade hospitalar e suporte ventilatório mecânico em pacientes hospitalizados, do registro brasileiro de COVID-19. Métodos Este estudo coorte é um subestudo do registro brasileiro de COVID-19, conduzido em 31 hospitais brasileiros de 17 cidades, de março a setembro de 2020. Os desfechos primários incluíram mortalidade hospitalar e suporte ventilatório mecânico invasivo. Os modelos para os desfechos primários foram estimados por regressão de Poisson com variância robusta, com significância estatística de p<0,05. Resultados Dos 2925 pacientes [idade mediana de 60 anos (48-71), 57,1%], 27,3% apresentaram lesão miocárdica. A proporção de pacientes com comorbidades foi maior nos pacientes com lesão miocárdica [mediana 2 (1-2) vs. 1 (0-20)]. Os pacientes com lesão miocárdica apresentaram maiores valores medianos de peptídeo natriurético cerebral, lactato desidrogenase, creatina fosfoquinase, N-terminal do pró-peptídeo natriurético tipo B e proteína C reativa em comparação a pacientes sem lesão miocárdica. Como fatores independentes, proteína C reativa e contagem de plaquetas foram relacionados com o risco de morte, e neutrófilos e contagem de plaquetas foram relacionados ao risco de suporte ventilatório mecânico invasivo. Os pacientes com níveis elevados de troponina apresentaram um maior risco de morte (RR 2,03, IC95% 1,60-2,58) e suporte ventilatório mecânico (RR 1,87;IC95% 1,57-2,23), em comparação àqueles com níveis de troponina normais. Conclusão Lesão cardíaca foi um preditor independente de mortalidade hospitalar e necessidade de suporte ventilatório mecânico em pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19.

ABSTRACT For the efficient management of water and soil conservation, quality and quantity aspects must be integrated. However, there is still a lack of studies with this synergy including governance processes. The present research evaluated for ten years (2010-2019) quality and quantity aspects of a water supply source and the Payment for Environmental Services (PES) implementation to investigate public policy efficiency and its effect on water resources. We used statistical analyses for comparing means, graphical analyses (trends, time series, duration curve, standard deviation), and correlation and multivariate analysis to evaluate parameters’ behavior after the PES implementation. Results showed that there was a significant reduction in turbidity, COD, and total suspended solids. Furthermore, water flow rate, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and dissolved oxygen remained stable after the implementation of conservation practices, as confirmed by the multivariate analysis. Water quality index (WQI) between “Good” and “Great” and chemical and hydrobiological parameters below the maximum allowed values reflected on the water quality maintenance. Participative decision-making based on dialogue between stakeholders and trust in PES were key elements for success.

RESUMO Para uma gestão eficiente da conservação da água e do solo, os aspectos de qualidade e quantidade devem ser integrados. No entanto, ainda faltam estudos com essa sinergia incluindo o processo de governança. Avaliamos aspectos de quali-quantidade (2010-2019) por 10 anos em um manancial de abastecimento de água e a implementação de Pagamentos por Serviços Ambientais (PSA), para entender a eficiência da política pública na área ambiental e seus efeitos sobre os recursos hídricos. O processo de governança foi investigado e análises estatísticas usadas para comparação de médias, análises gráficas (tendências, série temporal, curva de permanência, desvio padrão), correlação e multivariada para avaliar o comportamento dos parâmetros, após implementação do PSA. Nossos resultados mostraram que houve uma redução significativa na turbidez, DQO e sólidos suspensos totais. Além disso, a vazão, nitrogênio total, fósforo total e oxigênio dissolvido permaneceram estáveis, após a implementação de práticas de conservação, corroborada pela análise multivariada. O índice de qualidade da água (IQA) entre “Bom” e “Ótimo” e os parâmetros químicos e hidrobiológicos abaixo dos valores máximos permitidos, refletiram na manutenção da qualidade da água. A tomada de decisão participativa com base no diálogo entre as partes interessadas e a confiança no PSA foram os elementos-chave de sucesso.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Updated and applied face-to-face for 2 consecutive semesters, the discipline of Marketing of Services for Information Users was optionally offered in two classes, throughout 2022, in the Bachelor's Degree in Librarianship at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Objective: To report the teaching experience in the discipline, in which active methodologies were used as a pedagogical strategy. Methodology: The Report was characterized as qualitative, since the characteristics, stages, resources and conduct of teaching practice in the discipline were described, in addition to feedback from students via testimonials. Results: The research enabled the identification of ten citizen labs in Brazilian Federal Universities, which are aligned with relevant social issues and generate benefits in terms of innovations that can be socially shared. Conclusion: Although the discipline approached Marketing contents in the context of Librarianship, when applied through active methodologies, they provided a greater possibility of making tangible the abstractions and inherent concepts. The strategy reported in the case turned out to be rich, making it possible to develop experiences and situations linked to the context of the class and their daily experiences.

RESUMO Introdução: Atualizada e aplicada em modo presencial por dois semestres consecutivos, a disciplina de Marketing de Serviços para Usuários da Informação foi ofertada na modalidade optativa em duas turmas, ao longo do ano de 2022, no curso de bacharelado em Biblioteconomia, da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Objetivo: Relatar a experiência docente na disciplina, na qual se lançou mão das metodologias ativas como estratégia pedagógica. Metodologia: O Relato se caracterizou como qualitativo, uma vez que, foram descritas as características, etapas, recursos e condução da prática docente na disciplina, além do feedback dos alunos via depoimentos Resultados: Percebeu-se que a experiência das metodologias ativas como estratégia provocou maior engajamento e despertou interesse pela temática proposta. Conclusão: Embora a disciplina tenha abordado os conteúdos de Marketing no contexto da Biblioteconomia, quando aplicados por meio de metodologias ativas, proporcionaram maior possibilidade de se tornar concretas as abstrações e os conceitos inerentes. A estratégia relatada no caso se desvelou rica, sendo possível desenvolver experiências e situações vivenciadas no contexto da turma no cotidiano.

Abstract Background Despite no evidence showing benefits of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine with or without azithromycin for COVID-19 treatment, these medications have been largely prescribed in Brazil. Objectives To assess outcomes, including in-hospital mortality, electrocardiographic abnormalities, hospital length-of-stay, admission to the intensive care unit, and need for dialysis and mechanical ventilation, in hospitalized COVID-19 patients who received chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine, and to compare outcomes between those patients and their matched controls. Methods A retrospective multicenter cohort study that included consecutive laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients from 37 Brazilian hospitals from March to September 2020. Propensity score was used to select matching controls by age, sex, cardiovascular comorbidities, and in-hospital use of corticosteroid. A p-value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results From 7,850 COVID-19 patients, 673 (8.6%) received hydroxychloroquine and 67 (0.9%) chloroquine. The median age in the study group was 60 years (46 - 71) and 59.1% were women. During hospitalization, 3.2% of patients presented side effects and 2.2% required therapy discontinuation. Electrocardiographic abnormalities were more prevalent in the chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine group (13.2% vs. 8.2%, p=0.01), and the long corrected QT interval was the main difference (3.6% vs. 0.4%, p<0.001). The median hospital length of stay was longer in the HCQ/CQ + AZT group than in controls (9.0 [5.0, 18.0] vs. 8.0 [4.0, 14.0] days). There was no statistical differences between groups in intensive care unit admission (35.1% vs. 32.0%; p=0.282), invasive mechanical ventilation support (27.0% vs. 22.3%; p=0.074) or mortality (18.9% vs. 18.0%; p=0.682). Conclusion COVID-19 patients treated with chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine had a longer hospital length of stay, when compared to matched controls. Intensive care unit admission, invasive mechanical ventilation, dialysis and in-hospital mortality were similar.

Resumo Fundamento Apesar da ausência de evidência mostrando benefícios da hidroxicloroquina e da cloroquina combinadas ou não à azitromicina no tratamento da covid-19, esses medicamentos têm sido amplamente prescritos no Brasil. Objetivos Avaliar desfechos, incluindo moralidade hospitalar, alterações eletrocardiográficas, tempo de internação, admissão na unidade de terapia intensiva, e necessidade de diálise e de ventilação mecânica em pacientes hospitalizados com covid-19 que receberam cloroquina ou hidroxicloroquina, e comparar os desfechos entre aqueles pacientes e seus controles pareados. Métodos Estudo multicêntrico retrospectivo do tipo coorte que incluiu pacientes com diagnóstico laboratorial de covid-19 de 37 hospitais no Brasil de março a setembro de 2020. Escore de propensão foi usado para selecionar controles pareados quanto a idade, sexo, comorbidades cardiovasculares, e uso de corticosteroides durante a internação. Um valor de p<0,05 foi considerado estatisticamente significativo. Resultados Dos 7850 pacientes com covid-19, 673 (8,6%) receberam hidroxicloroquina e 67 (0,9%) cloroquina. A idade mediana no grupo de estudo foi 60 (46-71) anos e 59,1% eram mulheres. Durante a internação, 3,2% dos pacientes apresentaram efeitos adversos e 2,2% necessitaram de interromper o tratamento. Alterações eletrocardiográficas foram mais prevalentes no grupo hidroxicloroquina/cloroquina (13,2% vs. 8,2%, p=0,01), e o prolongamento do intervalo QT corrigido foi a principal diferença (3,6% vs. 0,4%, p<0,001). O tempo mediano de internação hospitalar foi maior no grupo usando CQ/HCQ em relação aos controles (9,0 [5,0-18,0] vs. 8,0 [4,0-14,0] dias). Não houve diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre os grupos quanto a admissão na unidade de terapia intensiva (35,1% vs. 32,0%; p=0,282), ventilação mecânica invasiva (27,0% vs. 22,3%; p=0,074) ou mortalidade (18,9% vs. 18,0%; p=0,682). Conclusão Pacientes com covid-19 tratados com cloroquina ou hidroxicloroquina apresentaram maior tempo de internação hospitalar, em comparação aos controles. Não houve diferença em relação a admissão em unidade de terapia intensiva, necessidade de ventilação mecânica e mortalidade hospitalar.

Resumo: É objetivo deste estudo investigar o comportamento informacional de sujeitos invisibilizados no ambiente do museu, propondo uma discussão que levante atributos considerados importantes para o engajamento desse público nesses espaços. Para tanto, reúne fundamentos teóricos ligados ao sistema de informação museal, caracterizando o seu público, além de selecionar modelos de Estudos de Usuários da Ciência da Informação, visando relacioná-los ao âmbito do museu. O levantamento teórico em questão, permitiu a construção de um roteiro de entrevistas diretas com a amostra, que buscou compreender o comportamento informacional deste grupo nesses ambientes. Para auxílio a análise do conteúdo obtido, fez-se uso de ferramentas como o iFeel e o Iramuteq, respectivamente. Os resultados apontam que a maioria dos indivíduos entrevistados são do sexo masculino, pretos e de baixa renda, que não visitam museus com frequência por não compreenderem bem as exposições, afirmando faltar clareza nas informações transmitidas. Caracterizam-se como pessoas curiosas, que buscam por informação, todavia expõem um sentimento de insatisfação em relação as informações obtidas na visita a museus. Como melhoria propõem o acréscimo de guias, um trabalho em relação a qualidade das informações expostas, além da inserção de tecnologias, como totems e Qrcodes. Abstract: This study aims to investigate the informational behavior of individuals that are considered invisible in the museum environment, proposing a discussion that raises attributes contemplated as important for the engagement of this public in these spaces. Hence, it gathers theoretical foundations linked to the museum information system, characterizing its audience, in addition to selecting models from Studies of Information Science Users, aiming to relate them to the scope of the museum. The result of this survey was the construction of a script consisting of direct interviews with the sample in question, which attempted to understand the informational behavior of this group in such environments. To be of service to data analysis, tools such as iFeel and Iramuteq, respectively, were used. The results showed that most of the individuals interviewed are male, black and low-income, who do not visit museums frequently because they do not understand what is exhibited well, claiming that the information given and transmitted is lacking clarity. These individuals are characterized as curious people, who seek information; however they express a feeling of unsatisfaction with the information acquired when visiting museums. As an improvement of the situation presented, it is proposed the inclusion of guides, a further working in relation to the quality of the given information, in addition to the insertion of technologies, such as information/direction boards and QRcodes. RESUMO Introdução: Os repositórios institucionais consolidaram-se como ferramentas importantes para o movimento Acesso Aberto em razão da possibilidade de disponibilização da produção científica, contudo, ainda há desafios relacionados à implementação e manutenção dos repositórios, especialmente no que tange à subutilização e às questões de direito autoral/propriedade intelectual. Assim, considerando esse contexto e, tendo por objetivo o ensino prático do método Design Science Research aplicado à Ciência da Informação, durante a disciplina Design Science Research do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Gestão e Organização do Conhecimento, da Escola de Ciência da Informação e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ambiente Construído e Patrimônio Sustentável, da Escola de Arquitetura, ambos da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, os alunos foram desafiados a desenvolverem como artefato um repositório institucional. Objetivo: Apresentar a experiência de aplicação do método Design Science Research para projetar um repositório digital. Metodologia: Design Science Research. Resultados: Apresenta o percurso pelas etapas de identificação e conscientização do problema, revisão sistemática da literatura e ideação de um repositório institucional baseado em periódico científico. ABSTRACT Introduction: Institutional repositories were consolidated as important tools for the Open Access movement due to the possibility of making scientific production available, however, there are still challenges related to the implementation and maintenance of repositories, especially with regard to underutilization and copyright issues /intellectual property. Thus, considering this context and with the objective of teaching practical use of the Design Science Research method applied to Information Science, during the Design Science Research discipline of the Graduate Program in Knowledge Management and Organization, from the School of Information Science and the Graduate Program in Built Environment and Sustainable Heritage, from the School of Architecture, both from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, the students were challenged to develop an institutional repository as an artifact. Objective: Present the experience of applying the Design Science Research method to design a digital repository. Methodology: Design Science Research. Results: It presents the journey through the stages of identification and awareness of the problem, systematic review of the literature and ideation of an institutional repository based on a scientific journal. ABSTRACT Introduction: Systemic Mastocytosis comprises a group of neoplastic diseases characterized by clonal expansion and infiltration of mast cells into several organs. The diagnosis and treatment of this disease may be challenging for non-specialists. Objective: Make suggestions or recommendations in Systemic Mastocytosis based in a panel of Brazilian specialists. Method and results: An online expert panel with 18 multidisciplinary specialists was convened to propose recommendations on the diagnosis and treatment of Systemic Mastocytosis in Brazil. Recommendations were based on discussions of topics and multiple-choice questions and were graded using the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine 2011 Levels of Evidence Chart. Conclusion: Twenty-two recommendations or suggestions were proposed based on a literature review and graded according to the findings.

Miconia chamissois Naudin is one of the numerous plant species included in the Melastomataceae family, inhabiting areas of natural vegetation in the Cerrado domain. This species presents a typical seasonal event and regular annual cycle with white and aromatic flowers. The study aimed to evaluate the floral ethanol extract of M. chamissois as to its phytochemical composition, physicochemical and biological activities. The ethanol extract was produced by maceration and phytochemical, physicochemical and biological tests were carried out using different methodologies. The results presented in this study demonstrate that M. chamissois is a promising species in the search for biologically active compounds, where it presented considerable numbers of phytochemical classes, expressive total flavonoid and phenolic contents, as well as photoprotection, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities. Future work should focus on the floral ethanol extract of M. chamissois to determine other biological actions in vitro and ex vitro.

Miconia chamissois Naudin é uma das inúmeras espécies vegetais incluídas na família Melastomataceae, habitando áreas de vegetação natural no domínio Cerrado. Esta espécie apresenta evento sazonal típico e ciclo anual regular, com flores brancas e aromáticas. O estudo teve por objetivo avaliar o extrato etanólico floral de M. chamissois quanto a sua composição fitoquímica, físico-química e atividades biológicas. O extrato etanólico foi produzido por maceração e os ensaios fitoquímicos, físico-químicos e biológicos realizados por diferentes metodologias. Os resultados apresentados neste estudo demonstram que M. chamissois é uma espécie promissora na busca de compostos biologicamente ativos, onde apresentou consideráveis números de classes fitoquímicas, conteúdos de flavonoides e fenólicos totais expressivos, bem como atividades de fotoproteção, antioxidante, anti-inflamatória, antimicrobiana e citotóxica. Trabalhos futuros deverão concentrar-se sobre o extrato etanólico floral de M. chamissois para determinar outras ações biológicas in vitro e ex vitro.

Abstract: The concepts of Food Security and Sovereignty are marked by different meanings and strategies for their implementation, including controversial components. In Latin America, there are numerous challenges to achieving Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) and so, achieving Food Sovereignty. Considering the relevance of the creation of regulatory frameworks in such countries, and the significance of regional articulation to overcome these challenges, the aim of this article is to both, identify and describe the legal and conceptual frameworks on Sovereignty and FNS, in Latin America. This study has been developed through a qualitative approach. Google has been used as a search tool for the national regulatory frameworks, by combining different keywords. It has been noted that, in the region, the existence of legislation on FNS is a key factor, where 32 out of the 33 autonomous Latin American countries have set national regulatory frameworks, or action plans to deal with FNS. As for the concepts of FNS, Food Sovereignty, and Food Systems, they appear prominently in the legislation of the region, including Food Insecurity (FI). Finally, the identification of multiple perspectives on the subject in the region should be acknowledged as a strength that shelters the diversity of expressions of resistance and cultural resilience of traditional food systems, and not as a barrier to the construction of cooperation initiatives.

Resumen: Los conceptos de Seguridad y Soberanía Alimentaria son marcados por diferentes significados y estrategias para su implementación, involucrando componentes de disputa. En latinoamericana, existen numerosos desafíos para lograr la Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional (SAN) y alcanzar la Soberanía Alimentaria. Considerando la importancia de la creación de marcos normativos en estos países y la relevancia de la articulación regional para superar dichos desafíos, el objetivo de este artículo es identificar y describir los marcos legales y conceptuales sobre Soberanía y SAN en América Latina. El estudio tiene un enfoque cualitativo. Se utilizó Google como herramienta de búsqueda de los marcos regulatorios nacionales, combinando diferentes palabras claves. Se observó que, en la región, es expresiva la existencia de legislación en materia de SAN, donde de los 33 países autónomos latinoamericanos, 32 cuentan con marcos normativos o planes de acción nacionales para hacer frente a la SAN. En cuanto a los conceptos SAN, Soberanía Alimentaria y Sistemas Alimentarios aparecen de manera destacada en la legislación de la región, incluyendo también Inseguridad Alimentaria (IA). La identificación de diferentes miradas sobre el tema en la región puede reconocerse no como una barrera para la construcción de iniciativas de cooperación, sino como una fortaleza que cobija la diversidad de expresiones de resistencia y resiliencia cultural de los sistemas alimentarios tradicionales.

Resumo: As concepções de Segurança e Soberania Alimentar são suscetíveis a distintas acepções e meios para sua efetivação, envolvendo componentes de disputa. Na América Latina há inúmeros desafios para o alcance da Segurança Alimentar e Nutricional (SAN) e a concretização da Soberania Alimentar. Considerando a importância da criação de marcos regulatórios nesses países e a relevância da articulação regional para superação de desafios, o objetivo deste artigo é identificar e descrever os marcos legais e conceituais de Soberania e SAN na América Latina. O estudo possui abordagem qualitativa. Utilizou-se o Google como ferramenta de busca dos marcos regulatórios nacionais, combinando diferentes descritores. Observou-se que, na região, a publicação de legislação sobre o tema da SAN é expressiva, onde dos 33 países autônomos latino-americanos, 32 possuem marcos regulatórios ou planos nacionais para tratar da SAN. Em relação aos conceitos a SAN, Soberania Alimentar e Sistemas Alimentares aparecem de forma marcante na legislação da região, incluindo-se ainda a Insegurança Alimentar (IA). A identificação das diferentes perspectivas sobre o tema na região pode ser reconhecida não como uma barreira à construção de iniciativas de cooperação, mas como uma fortaleza que abriga a diversidade de expressões de resistência culturais e resiliência dos sistemas alimentares tradicionais.

ABSTRACT The genus Ceiba has species such as Ceiba pubiflora circumscribed in the Malvaceae family where it has annual flowering in the Cerrado domain of Brasil. Flowers of C. pubiflora were collected, and then the extract was produced. Phytochemical analyses, thin-layer chromatography, yield, pH, refractive index and density were performed. Bioactive compounds were determined by the reduction of DPPH free radicals and total phenols. The extract yield was 6,88 %, several classes of compounds present as alkaloids, flavonoids and saponins. The best eluents were acetone and ethyl acetate in thin layer chromatography, the antioxidant activity showed an inhibition concentration (IC50) of 217,4 mg L-1 and total phenolic content of 7,26 mg expressed as gallic acid (GAE 100 g-1).This study allowed, based on the unprecedented results of C. pubiflora, further studies to be carried out, due to the numerous results of great importance, which allow investigating in greater detail the pharmacological, chemical and bioactive characteristics.

RESUMEN El género Ceiba tiene especies como Ceiba pubiflora circunscrita en la familia Malvaceae, que florece anualmente en el dominio Cerrado de Brasil. Se recolectaron flores de C. pubiflora, luego se produjo el extracto. Se realizaron análisis fitoquímicos, cromatografía en capa fina, rendimiento, pH, índice de refracción y densidad. Los compuestos bioactivos se determinaron mediante la reducción de radicales libres DPPH y fenoles totales. El rendimiento del extracto fue de 6,88 %; hubo presencia de varias clases de compuestos como alcaloides, flavonoides y saponinas. Los mejores eluyentes fueron acetona y acetato de etilo en cromatografía en capa fina; la actividad antioxidante mostró una concentración de inhibición (CI50) de 217,4 mg L-1 y contenido fenólico total de 7,26 mg expresado en ácido gálico (EAG 100 g-1). Este estudio permitió, en base a los resultados sin precedentes de Ceiba pubiflora, que se realicen más estudios, debido a los numerosos resultados de gran importancia, que permiten investigar con mayor detalle las características farmacológicas, químicas y bioactivas.

Abstract Introduction: The increase in the prevalence of aortic stenosis due to an aging population has led to an increasing number of surgical aortic valve replacements. Over the past 20 years, there has been a major shift in preference from mechanical to bioprosthetic valves. However, despite efforts, there is still no "ideal" bioprosthesis. It is crucial to understand the structure, biology, and function of native heart valves to design more intelligent, strong, durable, and physiological heart valve tissues. Methods: A comprehensive review of the literature was performed to identify articles reporting the basic mechanisms of bioprosthetic valve dysfunction and the biology of native valve cells. Searches were run in PubMed, MEDLINE® (the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online), and Google Scholar. Terms for subject heading and keywords search included “biological heart valve dysfunction”, “bioprosthesis dysfunction”, “bioprosthesis degeneration”, and “tissue heart valves”. Results: All the relevant findings are summarized in the appropriate subsections. Structural dysfunction is a logical and expected consequence of the chemical, mechanical, and immunological processes that occur during fixation, manufacture, and implantation. Conclusion: Biological prosthesis valve dysfunction is a clinically significant process. It has become a major issue considering the growing rate of bioprosthesis implantation and improved long-term patient survival. Understanding bioprosthetic aortic valve degeneration from a basic science perspective is a key point to improve technologic advances and specifications that lead to a new generation of bioprostheses.

Resumo A DNA metiltransferase 1, codificada pelo gene DNMT, é uma DNA metiltransferase crucial na regulação da transcrição, impressão genómica e diferenciação celular. A disfunção desse grupo de enzimas pode conduzir a uma grande variedade de sintomas clínicos de predomínio neurológico, nomeadamente uma tríade característica composta por neuropatia sensitiva, surdez neurossensorial e declínio cognitivo. Neste trabalho, relatamos o caso de um doente de nacionalidade portuguesa, que foi observado em consulta por ulcerações acrais recorrentes devido a hipoalgesia e hipoestesia, secundárias a uma nova mutação heterozigótica [c.1718T> G (p.Val573Gly)] no gene DNMT1.

Abstract DNA methyltransferase 1, encoded by DNMT gene, is a crucial DNA methyltransferase with essential roles in transcription regulation, gene imprinting, and cell differentiation. Dysfunction of this group of enzymes can lead to a variety of neurologically predominant clinical symptoms, including a stereotypic triad of sensory predominant neuropathy, sensorineural hearing loss, and cognitive decline. Herein, we report the case of a Portuguese patient who presented with recurrent acral ulcerations due to hypoalgesia and hypoesthesia, secondary to a novel heterozygous mutation [c.1718T>G (p.Val573Gly)] in DNA methyltransferase 1 gene.
