Este trabalho apresenta uma metodologia, baseada nas equações de injeção de correntes (MICT), para o cálculo do fluxo de potência harmônico trifásico em sistemas elétricos equilibrados e desequilibrados (MICTH). A metodologia desenvolvida emprega o método iterativo de Newton-Raphson para obter a solução do sistema de equações não-lineares, onde o sistema matricial é formado por blocos relativos às freqüências harmônicas investigadas. Dessa maneira é possível representar as interações entre as componentes harmônicas de diferentes freqüências. Em paralelo foram desenvolvidos modelos dos principais dispositivos lineares e não-lineares conectados aos sistemas elétricos de potência. O MICTH (Método de Injeção de Correntes Trifásicas Harmônicas) e os modelos de componentes foram implementados em C++, com programação orientada a objetos, e utilizando técnicas de programação esparsa. Os resultados das simulações, no domínio da freqüência, obtidos com o programa MICTH foram validados a partir de comparações com resultados de simulações, no domínio do tempo, obtidos com o programa ATP/EMTP (Alternative Transients Program of Electromagnetic Transients Program).

This work presents a methodology, based on the current injection equations (MICT), for the calculus of the harmonic power flow in three-phase, balanced and unbalanced, electric power systems (MICTH). The developed methodology uses the Newton-Raphson method to obtain the solution of a set of non-linear equations, where the matrix system is built in a blocked form for each harmonic frequency. This mathematical approach permits to represent the interaction between harmonic components of different frequencies. It was also developed models for the main linear and non-linear devices connected to the electric power systems. The MICTH (Three-Phase Harmonic Current Injection Method) and the devices models were implemented in C++ using object-oriented and sparse-matrix programming techniques. The simulation results of the MICTH, obtained in the frequency domain, were validated with simulation results of the ATP/EMTP (Alternative Transients Program of Electromagnetic Transients Program), obtained in the time domain.

In vitro propagation of Nothofagus procera was studied in MS and BTM culture media using mature embryos as the initiation material. Even at the embrionary establishment phase, there was no statistical difference between two media and the MS medium was selected because it produced more vigorous microseedlings. In the following proliferation phase, the results showed that hormonal treatments, in particular 0.5 mg/l of BAP and 0.05 mg/l of IBA, were better for the induction of buds and shoots. There were not many growth points observed at this concentration, which was improved by increasing the hormonal concentration to 0.5 mg/l of BAP and 0.07 mg/l of IBA. However, the manifestation and growth of the induced organs was significantly better in MS medium without hormones, which also spontaneously formed roots.

Se estudió la propagación in vitro de Nothofagus procera sobre los medios de cultivo MS y BTM usando embriones maduros como material inicial. En la fase de establecimiento embrionario, pese a no haber diferencias estadísticas, se optó por el medio MS, ya que en éste las microplántulas mostraron mayor vigor. En una posterior etapa de proliferación, los resultados mostraron que los tratamientos hormonales, en especial 0,5 mgl-1 de BAP y 0,05 mgl-1 de AIB son significativamente mejores para la inducción de yemas y tallos. Se observó que muchos puntos de crecimiento no elongaron a estas concentraciones, lo cual se superó al estrechar la relación citoquinina/ auxina a 0,5 mgl-1 de BAP más 0,07 mgl-1 de AIB. Sin embargo, la manifestación y crecimiento de los órganos inducidos es significativamente mejor en medio MS sin hormonas, donde se logra, incluso, rizogénesis adventicia en forma espontánea.

OBJETIVOS: 1) Determinar a prevalência do Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae e Moraxella catarrhalis nas efusões de orelha média de crianças com otite média com efusão que foram submetidas à miringotomia; 2) comparar os resultados obtidos por cultura e PCR; e 3) determinar o perfil de resistência à penicilina dos germes isolados. MÉTODOS: Analisaram-se 128 amostras de efusões de orelha média de 75 crianças entre 11 meses e 10 anos de idade (média = 34,7 meses). Pacientes com otite média recorrente tinham efusão documentada por > 6 semanas e aqueles com otite média com efusão crônica, por > 3 meses. Os pacientes não tinham sinais de otite média aguda ou infecção do trato respiratório e não estavam sob antibioticoterapia no momento do procedimento. A aspiração do material foi realizada por timpanocentese, utilizando-se um coletor de Alden-Senturia. Os estudos bacteriológicos foram iniciados menos de 15 minutos após a obtenção da efusão, e uma parte da amostra foi armazenada a -20 ºC para análise posterior pela PCR. Utilizou-se um método de PCR simultânea para a detecção de três patógenos. A análise estatística foi efetivada com o teste c² de McNemar. RESULTADOS: Cultivaram-se bactérias em 32 (25,1%) das 128 amostras e os patógenos principais foram encontrados em 25 (19,6%). A PCR identificou bactérias em 73 (57,0%) das amostras, e os resultados positivos foram: 50 (39,1%) para H. influenzae, 16 (12,5%) para S. pneumoniae e 13 (10,2%) para M. catarrhalis. Todas as amostras positivas por cultura foram positivas pela PCR, mas 48 (65,7%) das efusões com resultado positivo pela PCR foram negativas por cultura para os germes estudados. A PCR foi significativamente mais sensível que a cultura (p < 0,001). Quanto ao perfil de resistência, 100% das M. catarrhalis, 62,5% dos S. pneumoniae e 23% dos H. influenzae eram resistentes à penicilina. CONCLUSÕES: A prevalência das bactérias na otite média com efusão em um grupo de crianças brasileiras é semelhante àquelas relatadas em outros países, sendo o H. influenzae o mais encontrado dentre os patógenos principais da orelha média. Essa prevalência sugere que bactérias podem desempenhar um papel na patogênese da otite média com efusão. Os resultados mostram que a PCR é mais sensível na detecção de bactérias na efusão da orelha média quando comparada com cultura. A resistência à penicilina por parte do pneumococo e da moraxela é semelhante à relatada em outros países, ao passo que a produção de b-lactamase pelo hemófilo é mais baixa que aquela referida em bactérias isoladas em amostras de efusões de otite média com efusão.

OBJECTIVES: 1) To determine the prevalence of Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis in middle ear effusions of children with otitis media with effusion undergoing myringotomy; 2) to compare the results obtained by culture and PCR; and 3) to determine the susceptibility of bacterial isolates to penicillin. METHODS: We analyzed 128 middle ear effusion specimens from 75 children (age = 11 months to 10 years; mean = 34.7 months). Patients with recurrent otitis media had documented middle ear effusion for > 6 weeks, and chronic otitis media with effusion for > 3 months. The patients had no signs of acute otitis media or respiratory tract infection and were not on antibiotic therapy. Aspiration was done through tympanocentesis with an Alden-Senturia trap. Bacteriological studies were initiated less than 15 minutes after specimen collection. Part of the sample was stored at -20ºC for later multiplex PCR analysis. Statistical analysis employed McNemar's c² test. RESULTS: Bacteria were cultured in 32 (25.1%) out of 128 samples and the pathogens under investigation were found in 25 (19.6%). PCR was positive for bacteria in 73 (57.0%) specimens: 50 (39.1%) for H. influenzae, 16 (12.5%) for S. pneumoniae, and 13 (10.2%) for M. catarrhalis. All the culture-positive samples were PCR-positive, but 48 (65.7%) of the PCR-positive specimens were culture-negative. PCR was significantly more sensitive than culture (p < 0.01) to identify bacteria. Resistance to penicillin was as follows: M. catarrhalis = 100%; S. pneumoniae = 62.5% and H. influenzae = 23% of the isolates. CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of bacteria in otitis media with effusion in a group of Brazilian children was similar to that reported for other countries. H. influenzae was the most frequent microorganism observed. This suggests that bacteria may play a role in the pathogenesis of otitis media with effusion. In addition, PCR was more sensitive to detect bacteria in middle ear effusion as compared to conventional culture methods. Penicillin resistance was similar to that reported for other countries for pneumococci and moraxella, but beta-lactamase production by H. influenza was lower than that reported for other countries.
