Resumen Introducción: Cattleya crispa es una orquídea epífita ornamental con distribución geográfica restringida a la Mata Atlántica brasileña. Debido al extractivismo depredador y a la pérdida de hábitat inducida por el hombre, esta especie aparece en la Lista Roja de la Flora Brasileña. Objetivo: Caracterizar aspectos morfoanatómicos de la germinación y desarrollo inicial de semillas de C. crispa; así como estudiar el efecto de la criopreservación de estas semillas. Métodos: Utilizamos microscopía óptica, microscopía electrónica de barrido y microscopía electrónica de transmisión para describir la microestructura en 100 semillas maduras. Evaluamos la viabilidad de la semilla, la germinación de la semilla, la tasa de supervivencia y el peso de los protocormos en el material criopreservado y no criopreservado, con cuatro réplicas por tratamiento de 20 mg de material vegetal. Resultados: Las semillas son fusiformes, amarillo blanquecinas, con una longitud de 700 a 900 µm y un contenido de agua del 5 %. La germinación comenzó siete días después de la siembra, la formación del protocormo globular a los 30 días y la formación de la plántula a los 150 días. La cubierta de semilla persistente puede comprimir el protocormo y provocar su colapso. Las semillas criopreservadas presentaron 87.15 % de viabilidad, 78.32 % de germinación, 8.48 % de supervivencia y protocormos con 104.27 mg a los cinco meses de la siembra. Los datos no fueron diferentes a las semillas no criopreservadas. Conclusiones: La capacidad criogénica de las semillas muestra que la crioconservación puede utilizarse para la conservación a largo plazo. Los resultados de este trabajo contribuyen a la biología general de C. crispa y a la propagación y almacenamiento de material genético con fines de conservación.

Abstract Introduction: Cattleya crispa is an ornamental epiphytic orchid with geographic distribution restricted to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. Due to predatory extractivism and human-induced habitat loss, this species appears on the Red List of Brazilian Flora. Objective: To characterize morpho-anatomical aspects regarding germination and post-seminal development from C. crispa seeds; as well as studying the effect of cryopreservation on these seeds. Methods: We used light microscopy and electron microscopy to describe the microstructure of a 100 ripe seeds. We evaluated seed viability, seed germination, survival rate and protocorm weight in cryopreserved and non-cryopreserved material, with four replicas per treatment using 20 mg of plant material. Results: The seeds are fusiform, whitish yellow with a length from 700 to 900 µm and a water content of 5 %. Germination began seven days after sowing, the formation of the globular protocorm at 30 days and the formation of the seedling occurred 150 days. The persistent seed coat can compress the protocorm and cause it to collapse. The cryopreserved seeds presented 87.15 % viability, 78.32 % germination, 8.48 % survival and protocorms with 104.27 mg five months after sowing. Data wasn't different to non-cryopreserved seeds. Conclusions: The cryocapability of the seeds shows that cryopreservation can be used for long-term conservation. The results of this work contribute to the overall biology of C. crispa and to the propagation and storage of genetic material for conservation purposes.

Abstract Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) affects about 2% to 4% of the world population, and in patients hospitalized in intensive care units, this incidence can reach up to 23% in those with septic shock. The impact of AF in patients with sepsis is reflected in worse clinical outcomes, and the identification of the triggering factors can be a target for future prevention and treatment strategies. Objectives To verify the relationship between the development of AF and mortality in patients over 80 years of age included in the sepsis protocol and to identify the risk factors that contribute to the development of AF in this population. Methods Retrospective observational study, with a review of electronic medical records and inclusion of 895 patients aged 80 years or older, included in the sepsis protocol of a high-complexity private hospital in São Paulo, SP, from January 2018 to December 2020. All tests were performed with a significance level of 5%. Results The incidence of AF in the sample was 13%. After multivariate analysis, using multiple logistic regression, it was possible to demonstrate an association of mortality, in the studied population, with the SOFA score (odds ratio [OR] 1.21 [1.09 – 1.35]), higher values of C-reactive protein (OR 1.04 [1.01 – 1.06]), need for vasoactive drugs (OR 2.4 [1.38 – 4.18]), use of mechanical ventilation (OR 3.49 [1.82 – 6.71]), and mainly AF (OR 3.7 [2.16 – 6.31]) Conclusion In very elderly patients (80 years of age and older) with sepsis, the development of AF was shown to be an independent risk factor for in-hospital mortality.

Resumo Fundamento A fibrilação atrial (FA) acomete cerca de 2% a 4% da população mundial. Nos pacientes internados em unidades de terapia intensiva, esta incidência pode chegar em até 23% naqueles com choque séptico. O impacto da FA nos pacientes sépticos se reflete em piores desfechos clínicos e o reconhecimento dos fatores desencadeantes pode ser alvo para estratégias de tratamento e prevenção futuras. Objetivos Verificar a relação entre desenvolvimento de FA e mortalidade nos pacientes acima de 80 anos incluídos no protocolo sepse e identificar fatores de risco que contribuam para o desenvolvimento de FA nesta população. Métodos Estudo observacional retrospectivo, com revisão de prontuários eletrônicos e inclusão de 895 pacientes com 80 anos ou mais, incluídos no protocolo sepse de um hospital privado de alta complexidade em São Paulo/SP, no período de janeiro de 2018 a dezembro de 2020. Todos os testes foram realizados com nível de significância de 5%. Resultados A incidência de FA na amostra foi de 13%. Após análise multivariada por regressão logística múltipla, foi possível demonstrar associação de mortalidade na população estudada, com o escore SOFA ( odds ratio [OR] 1,21 [1,09 – 1,35]), valores mais altos de proteína C-reativa (OR 1,04 [1,01 – 1,06]), necessidade de droga vasoativa (OR 2,4 [1,38 – 4,18]), uso de ventilação mecânica (OR 3,49 [1,82 – 6,71]) e principalmente FA (OR 3,7 [2,16 – 6,31). Conclusões No paciente grande idoso (80 anos ou mais) com sepse, o desenvolvimento de FA se mostrou como fator de risco independente para mortalidade intra-hospitalar.

Abstract Performance Analysis and Sport Pedagogy are areas of knowledge that point to ways to improve sports practice. This article sought to identify the pedagogical role in the performance of performance analysts of the base categories of Brazilian clubs. The research, with a qualitative approach, used the Triangulation of Methods analysis procedure, based on semi-structured interviews with ten performance analysts from the basic categories of Brazilian men's soccer clubs in the series A (2020). It is concluded that although the analysts do not perceive their performance within the clubs as pedagogical, in practice this interface has been necessary in the development of the work of these professionals. In this way, the dialogue between the areas of Sport Pedagogy and Performance Analysis can contribute to the qualification and professional performance of performance analysts, enhancing the process of training young soccer players.

Resumen El Análisis del Rendimiento y la Pedagogía del Deporte son áreas de conocimiento que apuntan caminos para mejorar la práctica deportiva. Este artículo buscó identificar el papel pedagógico en la actuación de los analistas de rendimiento de las categorías básicas de los clubes de fútbol masculino brasileño. La investigación, con enfoque cualitativo, utilizó el procedimiento de análisis Triangulación de Métodos, basado en entrevistas semiestructuradas con diez analistas del rendimiento de las categorías básicas de los clubes de fútbol masculino brasileño en la serie A (2020). Se concluye que aunque los analistas no perciban su actuación dentro de los clubes como pedagógica, en la práctica, esa interfaz ha sido necesaria en el desarrollo del trabajo de estos profesionales. Así, el diálogo entre las áreas de Pedagogía del Deporte y Análisis del Desempeño puede contribuir a la formación y desempeño profesional de los analistas del rendimiento, potenciando el proceso de formación de jóvenes futbolistas.

Resumo A Análise de Desempenho e a Pedagogia do Esporte são áreas de conhecimento que apontam caminhos para a melhora da prática esportiva. O presente artigo buscou identificar o papel pedagógico na atuação dos analistas de desempenho das categorias de base dos clubes brasileiros. A pesquisa, de abordagem qualitativa, utilizou o procedimento de análise de Triangulação de Métodos, a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas com dez analistas de desempenho das categorias de base dos clubes brasileiros de futebol masculino da série A (2020). Conclui-se que embora os analistas não percebam a sua atuação dentro dos clubes como de cunho pedagógico, na prática essa interface vem sendo necessária no desenvolvimento do trabalho destes profissionais. Dessa maneira o diálogo entre as áreas da Pedagogia do Esporte e da Análise de Desempenho pode contribuir para qualificação e atuação profissional dos analistas de desempenho, potencializando o processo de formação de jovens jogadores de futebol.

Abstract The objectives of this study were the biostratigraphic and paleobiogeographic interpretations of the calcareous nannofossil records of the Romualdo Formation (Aptian-Albian) in the south-central portion of the Araripe Basin. The methods used to process the samples were decanting, smear slide, centrifugation, and ultra-thin section confection. The taxonomic and biostratigraphic interpretations were carried out through qualitative and quantitative investigations. A total of 11 genera and 17 species of calcareous nannofossils, namely, Biscutum constans, Biscutum sp., Braarudosphaera africana, Braarudosphaera sp., Calculites sp., Discorhabdus ignotus, Hayesites albiensis, Hayesites sp., Nannoconus bucheri, Nannoconus sp., Retecapsa surirella, Rhagodiscus sp., Thoracosphaera sp., Watznaueria barnesiae, Watznaueria sp., Zeughrabdotus erectus, and Zeughrabdotus noeliae were identified. The integrated analysis of three outcrops suggests two distinct marine phases: the first in the Aptian, recognized in two outcrops, and during the Albian age. The genera Hayesites and Nannoconus suggest a strong Tethyan affinity. Differently, other calcareous nannofossils such as Watznaueria, Thoracosphaera, and Braarudosphaera recorded here are considered more resistant, cosmopolitan, and/or opportunistic species. Biscutum and Zeughrabdotus are sensitive calcareous nannofossils because they are more susceptible to dissolution and cannot be surely used to define this paleobiogeography and biostratigraphic range.

Abstract Background: Paediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome (PIMS) associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been described since mid-April 2020 with the first reports coming from Europe. Our objective was to describe the characteristics of patients among the Brazilian population. Methods: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted with the participation of five pediatric rheumatology centers in Brazil during the period from March to November 2020. Children and adolescents with PIMS temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2 (TS) who met the definition criteria for the disease according to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health were included. Demographic, clinical, laboratory, therapeutic characteristics and molecular and serological diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection were described. Results: Fifty-seven children and adolescents with PIMS-TS were evaluated, 54% female, with a median age of 8 (3–11) years. Most (86%) were previously healthy, with asthma being the main comorbidity, present in 10% of the patients. Fever was the main manifestation, present in all patients, followed by mucocutaneous and gastrointestinal features, present in 89% and 81% of the patients, respectively. Myocarditis occurred in 21% of the patients and in 68% of them required intensive care. The Kawasaki disease phenotype occurred in most patients (77%). All patients had elevated inflammatory markers, with elevated CRP being the most found (98%). Anemia and lymphopenia were present in 79% and 72%, respectively. Laboratory evidence of SARS-CoV-2 was found in 77% of the patients, with 39% positive RT-PCR and 84% positive serology for SARS-CoV-2. An immunomodulatory treatment was performed in 91% of the patients, with 67% receiving intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) associated with glucocorticoid, 21% receiving IVIG, and 3.5% receiving glucocorticoid. The median length of hospitalization was 10 days. Conclusions: This study showed a high morbidity of PIMS-TS in Brazilian children, with a prolonged length of hospitalization and a high rate of admission to pediatric intensive care unit. Multicenter prospective studies are needed to assess the morbidity of the disease in the medium and long term.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as eficiências agronômica e econômica da rocha fonolito (K2) e da rocha potássio-silicática alcalina (K3), moídas e aplicadas superficialmente em área total, como fontes de K para as culturas de soja (Glycine max), milho (Zea mays), feijão comum (Phaseolus vulgaris) e arroz de terras altas (Oryza sativa). Quatro experimentos – um com cada cultura – foram conduzidos em dois anos agrícolas, em Latossolo Vermelho, em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram de três fontes (a tradicional KCl, K2 e K3) e quatro doses (0, 0,5, 1,0 e 2,0 vezes a recomendada para cada cultura) de K. As três fontes aumentaram de forma similar os teores de K nas folhas de soja, milho e feijão comum, mas não tiveram efeito sobre o de arroz. A produtividade de grãos de todas as culturas aumentou com a aplicação de K2 e K3, como observado para KCl. A eficiência das fontes alternativas de K varia em função da dose e da cultura. A fonte K3 é viável para ser aplicada a lanço na dose de K recomendada para as culturas estudadas, enquanto K2 é viável apenas para soja, milho e feijão comum.

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic and economic efficiency of phonolite rock (K2) and alkaline potassium-silicate rock (K3), ground and applied by surface broadcasting, as K sources for the soybean (Glycine max), corn (Zea mays), common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), and upland rice (Oryza sativa) crops. Four experiments – one with each crop – were conducted in two crop years in a Typic Haplorthox in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. The treatments consisted of three sources (the KCl standard source, K2, and K3) and four rates (0, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 times the recommended for each crop) of K. The three sources increased similarly the leaf K concentration of soybean, corn, and common bean but had no effect on that of upland rice. The grain yield of all crops increased with the application of K2 and K3, as observed for KCl. The efficiency of the alternative K sources varies depending on the rate and crop. The K3 source is viable to be applied by broadcasting at the recommended K rate for all studied crops, while K2 is suitable only for soybean, corn, and common bean.

Resumen: Objetivo: realizar una caracterización espacio-temporal de la incidencia de tuberculosis (TB) en Maputo, Mozambique. Método: estudio ecológico descriptivo de casos de tuberculosis reportados en un sistema de información. Se analizó la tasa de incidencia media anual y el número de casos de notificación de TB en el municipio de Maputo entre 2011 y 2016. Se utilizó estadística descriptiva para calcular las medidas de tendencia central (media) y la aplicación del modelo de regresión lineal de Poisson Las notificaciones trimestrales se estratificaron por distrito, forma clínica y grupo de edad. Resultados: se notificaron 34,623 casos de TB entre 2011 y 2016, con un promedio trimestral de 1,443 casos. La incidencia anual promedio fue mayor en el distrito de Kampfumo, 909.8 por cada 100 mil habitantes (IC 95% 854.1 - 968.2), casi el doble que la incidencia del municipio de Maputo, 527.8 (IC 95% 514 , 3-541.6), y el país de Mozambique, 551 (95% CI 356 - 787). El diagnóstico clínico de los casos fue mayor en relación al diagnóstico bacteriológico, 44% y 35%, respectivamente. Conclusión: Maputo tuvo tasas de incidencia similares a las del país, sin embargo, hubo una heterogeneidad en las tasas por distrito y una reducción en el número de casos de TB en la población general (no coinfectados con VIH) y en los mayores de 15 años, siendo mayores en el primer trimestre.

Abstract: Objective: Carry out a spatial-temporal characterization of the incidence of tuberculosis (TB) in Maputo, Mozambique. Method: a descriptive ecological study of tuberculosis cases reported in an information system. The annual mean incidence rate and the number of TB notification cases in the municipality of Maputo from 2011 to 2016 were analyzed. Descriptive statistics were used with calculations of measures of central tendency (mean) and an application of the Poisson linear regression model. Trimester notifications were stratified by district, clinical form, and age group. The quarterly average temperature of the evaluated area was added as a covariate in the model seasonal. Results: 34,623 TB cases were notified from 2011 to 2016, with a trimester average of 1,443 cases. The average annual incidence was higher in the Kampfumo district, with 909.8 per 100 thousand inhabitants (95% CI 854.1 - 968.2); almost twice as much as the incidence of the municipality of Maputo, 527.8 (95% CI 514, 3-541.6), and the country of Mozambique, 551 (95% CI 356 - 787). The clinical diagnosis of the tested cases was higher concerning the bacteriological diagnosis; 44%, and 35%, respectively. Conclusion: Maputo had similar incidence rates to the country of Mozambique, however, there was a heterogeneity rate by district and a reduction in the number of TB cases in both the general population (not co-infected with HIV) and those over 15 years old, being higher in the first trimester.

RESUMO Os canabinoides compreendem os endocanabinoides, fitocanabinoides e os canabinoides sintéticos e desempenham ações no sistema nervoso central e periférico. Uma quantidade enorme de publicações tem sido lançada nos últimos anos, embora a cannabis seja conhecida por milênios. Os Departamentos Científicos da Academia Brasileira de Neurologia descreveram as evidências do uso médico em suas áreas. A literatura está em constantes mudanças e possíveis novas evidências podem surgir nos próximos dias ou meses. A prescrição dessas substâncias deve ser discutida com os pacientes e suas famílias, com conhecimento sobre eventos adversos e sua eficácia.

ABSTRACT Cannabinoids comprehend endocannabinoids, phytocannabinoids, and synthetic cannabinoids, with actions both in the central and peripherical nervous systems. A considerable amount of publications have been made in recent years, although cannabis has been known for over a thousand years. Scientific Departments from the Brazilian Academy of Neurology described evidence for medical use in their areas. Literature is constantly changing, and possible new evidence can emerge in the next days or months. Prescription of these substances must be discussed with patients and their families, with knowledge about adverse events and their efficacy.

RESUMO Objetivo: Descrever o relato de experiência de um enfermeiro no cuidado ao paciente com a COVID-19 em hemodiálise e posição prona. Método: Relato de experiência. O estudo foi realizado em um hospital filantrópico de uma capital brasileira, no período de maio a agosto de 2020, durante a pandemia do Coronavírus. Resultados: O enfermeiro enfrentou diversos desafios estruturais, materiais, de recursos humanos e assistenciais para o cuidado ao paciente com a COVID-19 em hemodiálise e posição prona. A gestão fundamentada no diálogo e no compartilhamento de informações baseadas em evidências e a implementação de um novo protocolo assistencial foram o alicerce para a reorganização assistencial da equipe de Enfermagem para o cuidado ao paciente com a COVID-19. Conclusão: Diante dessa experiência, destaca-se a importância da atenção de enfermagem às respostas dos pacientes, respaldando suas ações em protocolos assistenciais e fortalecendo as relações humanas. Faz-se necessária a condução de outros delineamentos de estudos de modo a contribuir para a melhoria da assistência de enfermagem e a sobrevida de pacientes com complicações da COVID-19.

ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the experience report of a nurse providing care to COVID-19 patients on hemodialysis and in prone position. Method: Experience report. This study was conducted in a philanthropic hospital in a Brazilian capital from May to August 2020 during the Coronavirus pandemic. Results: The nurse has faced several challenges concerning structure, material, human resources, and care when treating COVID-19 patients on hemodialysis and in prone position. Management based on dialogue and shared evidence-based information and implementation of a new care protocol were a foundation for care reorganization of the Nursing team for providing care to COVID-19 patients. Conclusion: This experience emphasizes the importance of nursing care to patients’ responses, with actions based on care protocols, strengthening human relations. The conduction of different study designs is necessary to contribute to an improved nursing care and survival of patients experiencing COVID-19 complications.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Describir el informe de experiencia de un enfermero en el cuidado al paciente con COVID-19 en hemodiálisis y posición prona. Método: Informe de experiencia. El estudio fue realizado en un hospital filantrópico de una capital brasileña de mayo a agosto de 2020, durante la pandemia de Coronavirus. Resultados: El enfermero enfrentó varios retos estructurales, materiales, de recursos humanos y de asistencia para el cuidado del paciente con COVID-19 en hemodiálisis y posición prona. La gestión basada en el diálogo y en el intercambio de información basada en evidencias y la implementación de un nuevo protocolo asistencial fueron el fundamento para la reorganización asistencial del equipo de Enfermería para el cuidado del paciente con COVID-19. Conclusión: A partir de esta experiencia, se destaca la importancia de la atención de enfermería a las respuestas de los pacientes, respaldando sus acciones en los protocolos de asistencia y fortaleciendo las relaciones humanas. Es necesaria la realización de otros diseños de estudio para contribuir a la mejora de la asistencia de enfermería y la supervivencia de los pacientes con complicaciones de la COVID-19.

ABSTRACT Anuran males and females adopt different reproductive and behavioral strategies in different contexts. We investigated the reproductive ecology and territorial behavior of the treefrog Boana goiana (B. Lutz, 1968) from the Brazilian Cerrado. We hypothesized that competitor density/proximity would increase the behavioral responses of B. goiana males, and that mating would be assortative. We also tested if the number of eggs correlates with female size and if there is a trade-off between clutch size and egg size. We conducted two territoriality experiments to test the effects of male size, competitor proximity and competitor density. Larger males called more in the presence of a second male. In the second experiment, the largest males emitted more calls and the distance to the nearest male increased as resident males called more. In both experiments, the number of calls was influenced by either male size or spacing between males. Some males behaved as satellites, probably to avoid fights. Our analyses indicate that females choose males with similar sizes to their own, corroborating our hypothesis of size-assortative mating. We found no relationships between female size and clutch size/volume, and between egg size and number of eggs per clutch. We also report multiple spawning for this species. The low incidence of physical combats and the spacing pattern indicate that this species relies almost solely on calls to resolve contests, which could be explained by low motivation, or simply because males avoid combats to decrease injury risks. Thus, acoustic or even multimodal communication seems crucial for social interactions of B. goiana.

Objetivo: caracterizar as internações cirúrgicas, permanência, custo e mortalidade, conforme a natureza jurídica (público e privado) da instituição hospitalar ligada ao Sistema Único de Saúde. Método: estudo descritivo, tipo levantamento, com coleta de dados retrospectiva (2008 a 2017) e abordagem quantitativa. As variáveis dependentes internações cirúrgicas ocorridas no Brasil, custos, permanência e mortalidade e as variáveis independentes regime/natureza jurídica (público e privado) foram obtidas do Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde. O teste de Mann-Whitney foi empregado para análise. Resultados: a média das internações pelo Sistema Único de Saúde foi de 4.214.083 internações/ ano, 53,5% ocorridas nos hospitais privados contratados e 46,5% em hospitais públicos (p=0,001). O repasse financeiro foi maior para o setor privado (60,6%) contra 39,4% para os públicos (p=0,001). A média de permanência foi de 4,5 dias no público e 3,1 dias no privado (p<0,001). A mortalidade foi maior no público (1,8%) do que no privado (1,4%) (p<0,001). Conclusão: houve predomínio das internações cirúrgicas pelo Sistema Único de Saúde nos hospitais privados com repasse financeiro maior para este setor em detrimento do público. As evidências produzidas contribuem para o debate e ações para evitar o asfixiamento orçamentário do setor público em privilégio do privado.

Objective: to characterize surgical hospitalizations, length of stay, cost and mortality, according to the legal nature (public and private) of the hospital institution linked to the Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde, SUS). Method: a descriptive study, of the survey type, with retrospective data collection (2008 to 2017) and a quantitative approach. The dependent variables surgical hospitalizations in Brazil, costs, length of stay and mortality and the independent variables regime/legal nature (public and private) were obtained from the Informatics Department of the Unified Health System. The Mann-Whitney test was used for analysis. Results: the average number of hospitalizations through the Unified Health System was 4,214,083 hospitalizations/year, 53.5% occurred in private hired hospitals and 46.5% in public hospitals (p=0.001). The financial transfer was greater for the private sector (60.6%) against 39.4% for the public (p=0.001). The average stay was 4.5 days in the public hospital and 3.1 days in its private counterpart (p<0.001). Mortality was higher in the public (1.8%) than in the private hospital (1.4%) (p<0.001). Conclusion: there was predominance of surgical hospitalizations through the Unified Health System in private hospitals with greater financial transfer to this sector, to the detriment of the public. The diverse evidence produced contributes to the debate and actions to avoid budgetary asphyxiation in the public sector in favor of the private sector.

Método: se trata de estudio descriptivo, tipo encuesta, con recolección de datos retrospectiva (2008 a 2017) y enfoque cuantitativo. Las variables dependientes ingresos quirúrgicos en Brasil, costos, estancia y mortalidad y las variables independientes régimen/naturaleza jurídica (público y privado) se obtuvieron del Departamento de Informática del Sistema Único de Salud. Para el análisis se utilizó la prueba de MannWhitney. Resultados: el promedio de hospitalizaciones a través del Sistema Único de Salud fue de 4.214.083 hospitalizaciones/ año, 53,5% ocurrieron en hospitales privados contratados y 46,5% en hospitales públicos (p=0,001). La transferencia financiera fue mayor para el sector privado (60,6%) y del 39,4% para el público (p=0,001). La estancia media fue de 4,5 días en el público y 3,1 días en el privado (p<0,001). La mortalidad fue mayor en los hospitales públicos (1,8%) que en los privados (1,4%) (p<0,001). Conclusión: hubo un predominio de los ingresos quirúrgicos a través del Sistema Único de Salud en los hospitales privados con mayor transferencia económica a este sector en detrimento de la población. La evidencia producida contribuye al debate y las acciones para evitar la asfixia presupuestaria del sector público que privilegia al sector privado.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência de rochas potássio-silicáticas alcalinas fundidas e moídas (K1) e de rocha fonolito moída (K2) como fontes de potássio para as culturas do arroz de terras altas (Oryza sativa) e do feijão comum (Phaseolus vulgaris), em comparação à fonte tradicional (KCl). Dois experimentos - um com cada cultura - foram conduzidos em Latossolo Vermelho argiloso, tendo-se utilizado delineamento de blocos ao acaso com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram de três fontes (KCl, K1 e K2) e quatro doses (0, 20, 40 e 80 kg ha-1 de K2O) de K. Independentemente da fonte utilizada, a adubação potássica incrementou o teor foliar de K e a produtividade de grãos das culturas do arroz de terras altas e do feijão comum. O índice de eficiência agronômica (IEA) das fontes alternativas de K variou de acordo com a cultura. Para o arroz de terras altas, o IEA do K2 foi 8% mais alto que o do KCl na dose de K recomendada, mas semelhante na maior dose. Para o feijão, os valores do IEA do K1 foram próximos ao do KCl nas doses de 40 e 80 kg ha-1 de K2O. As fontes alternativas K1 e K2 fornecem K e aumentam a produtividade de grãos do feijão comum e do arroz de terras altas, respectivamente, de forma semelhante ao KCl.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of molten and ground alkaline potassium-silicate rocks (K1) and of ground phonolite rock (K2) as sources of potassium for upland rice (Oryza sativa) and common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) crops, in comparison with the traditional source (KCl). Two experiments - one with each crop - were conducted on a Typic Haplorthox in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. The treatments consisted of three sources (KCl, K1, and K2) and four rates (0, 20, 40, and 80 kg ha-1 K2O) of K. Regardless of the used source, K fertilization increased the leaf K content and grain yield of the upland rice and common bean crops. The agronomic efficiency index (AEI) of the alternative K sources varied according to the crop. For upland rice, the AEI of K2 was 8% higher than that of KCl at the recommended K rate, but similar at the highest rate. For common bean, the AEI values of K1 were close to that of KCl at the rates of 40 and 80 kg ha-1 K2O. The alternative sources K1 and K2 supply K and increase the grain yield of common bean and upland rice, respectively, similarly to KCl.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência e o efeito residual de rochas potássico-silicáticas alcalinas fundidas e moídas (K1) e de rocha de fonolito moída (K2), como fontes alternativas de potássio, em comparação à fonte tradicional (KCl), em sucessões de culturas graníferas. Dois experimentos – um com sucessão soja-trigo-milho e outro com sucessão milho-milheto-soja – foram conduzidos em Latossolo Vermelho argiloso, em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram de três fontes (KCl, K1 e K2) e quatro doses de K (correspondentes a 0, 0,5, 1,0 e 2,0 vezes a dose recomendada para a cultura da soja e do milho). As fontes não afetaram a concentração de K nas folhas da soja, mas KCl e K2 aumentaram de forma semelhante a concentração de K nas folhas do milho. Independentemente da fonte, a aplicação de K aumentou as produtividades de todas as culturas. As fontes alternativas K1 e K2 apresentam eficiências agronômicas equivalentes à do KCl. K1 e K2 têm efeitos residuais mais pronunciados que o do KCl, especialmente em cultivos realizados aproximadamente um ano após suas aplicações e com doses de K acima das recomendadas para as culturas.

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency and the residual effects of both molten and ground alkaline potassium-silicate rocks (K1) and of ground phonolite rock (K2), as sources of potassium, compared with the traditional source (KCl), in grain crop successions. Two experiments – one with the succession soybean-wheat-corn and the other with the succession corn-millet-soybean – were conducted on a Typic Haplorthox in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. The treatments consisted of three sources (KCl, K1, and K2) and four rates of K (corresponding to 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 times the recommended rates for soybean and corn). The used sources did not affect leaf K concentration in soybean, but KCl and K2 similarly increased leaf K concentration in corn. Regardless of the source, K application increased the yield of all crops. The K1 and K2 sources present agronomic efficiencies equivalent to that of KCl. K1 and K2 show a more pronounced residual effect than KCl, especially on crops grown approximately one year after their application and under K rates above those recommended for the crops.

Abstract Plant responses to nitrogen supply are dependent on auxin signaling, but much still remains to be elucidated regarding N deficiency in tomato. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate how low auxin sensitivity regulates the responses of tomato plants to N deficiency. For this purpose, we used the tomato diageotropica mutant, with low auxin sensitivity, and a near isogenic line cv. Micro-Tom grown in nutrient solutions under absence and presence of nitrogen. Plant height, stem diameter, root and shoot dry mass, area and root density, number of lateral roots, leaf area, chlorophylls and carotenoids content, nitrogen accumulation and nitrogen use efficiency were evaluated. We observed a clear interaction between the tomato genotype and nitrogen. When the plants were grown with nitrogen, ‘Micro-Tom’ showed higher growth than the diageotropica mutant. Under nitrogen deficiency condition, the mutant showed improved growth, nitrogen use efficiency and higher contents of pigments. In general, the low sensitivity to auxin in diageotropica caused reduced growth in both shoot and root. However, the diageotropica tomato showed a positive regulation of the nitrogen use efficiency under nitrogen deficiency. In general, our data revealed that the reduced sensitivity to auxin increased the adaptive capacity to the nitrogen deficiency.

RESUMO: Objetivos: Identificar a prevalência da doença renal crônica (DRC) autorreferida no Brasil e caracterizar os fatores associados a essa enfermidade. Métodos: Trata-se de um inquérito epidemiológico de base domiciliar, a Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde (PNS) realizada em 2013. O desfecho analisado foi a prevalência de DRC. Os grupos de variáveis explicativas foram: características sociodemográficas, estilos de vida, doenças crônicas autorreferidas, antropometria e avaliação de saúde. Foram estimadas as prevalências de DRC e os respectivos intervalos de confiança de 95% e foram realizados a análise univariada e o modelo de regressão logística múltipla, permanecendo as variáveis estatisticamente significativas (p < 0,05). Resultados: Observou-se que 1,42% (intervalo de confiança de 95% - IC95% 1,33 - 1,52) dos 60.202 entrevistados referiram ser portadores de DRC. O odds ratio (OR) aumentou com a idade, sendo 2,68 entre os idosos com 65 anos ou mais (IC95% 1,75 - 4,09). Apresentaram chance maior de DRC: possuir planos de saúde, com OR = 1,51 (IC95% 1,28 - 1,78), tabagismo, hipertensão, colesterol elevado e autoavaliação de saúde ruim, com OR = 1,75 (IC95% 1,45 - 2,12), OR = 1,20 (IC95% 1,02 - 1,42), OR = 1,83 (IC95% 1,56 - 2,15), OR = 4,70 (IC95% 3,75 - 5,88), respectivamente. Conclusões: A prevalência de DRC foi maior em idade mais avançada, baixa escolaridade, possuir plano de saúde, tabagismo, hipertensão, hipercolesterolemia e avaliação regular ou ruim do estado de saúde. O conhecimento da prevalência da DRC e dos fatores de risco e de proteção são essenciais para prevenção da doença e para subsidiar as políticas públicas de saúde.

ABSTRACT: Objective: To identify the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) self-reported in Brazil and characterize the factors associated with it. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional health survey with a household-based, the National Health Survey, performed in 2013. The outcome in the present study was the prevalence of CKD. The groups of explanatory variables were socio-demographic characteristics, lifestyles, chronic self-reported diseases, anthropometry, and health evaluation. The prevalence of CKD, e their 95% respective confidence interval were estimated, univariate analysis and the multiple logistic regression model were calculated, and remained the variables statistically significant (p < 0.05). Results: It noticed that 1.42% (95%CI 1.33 - 1.52) of the 60,202 interviewees self-reported CKD. The OR increased progressively with age, being 2.68 among the elderly with 65 years or more (95%CI 1.75 - 4.09). Having health plans with OR = 1.51 (95%CI 1.28 - 1.78), as well as smoking, hypertension and high cholesterol and poor self-reported health with OR = 1.75 (95%CI 1.45 - 2.12), OR = 1.20 (95%CI 1.02 - 1.42), OR = 1.83 (95%CI 1.56 - 2.15), OR = 4.70 (95%CI 3.75 - 5.88), respectively, showed a higher chance of CKD. Conclusions: The associated variables were increasing age, health plan coverage, smoking, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and regular or poor health status. The knowledge of CKD prevalence in Brazil and risk and protection factors are essential for disease prevention and the establishment of supporting public health policies.
