ABSTRACT Objective: to construct and validate a checklist for patient safety during transfusion. Method: this is a methodological study whose development took place, between February 2020 and January 2021, at a teaching hospital in Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. The design was based on the survey of items in an integrative literature review, and validity, with 17 health specialists and 8 hemotherapy experts. Pre-test was carried out with 36 professionals from the target population. For data analysis, the Content Validity Index was calculated. Results: the checklist was composed of 29 items and 90 sub-items, distributed in three domains, corresponding to the transfusion act stages: Pre-transfusion (Medical prescription, Compatibility and Bedside identification); Transfusion (Blood component installation); and Post-transfusion (Monitoring). The items obtained a Content Validity Index predominantly > 0.80 in all stages. After reformulations suggested by participants, a Content Validity Index of 0.98 was obtained in its final version. Conclusion: the checklist demonstrated evidence of content validity and can be a reliable instrument to promote patient safety during transfusion.

RESUMEN Objetivo: construir y validar una lista de verificación para la seguridad del paciente durante la transfusión. Método: estudio metodológico cuyo desarrollo tuvo lugar entre febrero de 2020 y enero de 2021 en un hospital universitario de Santa María, RS, Brasil. El diseño se basó en el levantamiento de ítems en una revisión integrativa de la literatura, validación con 17 especialistas de la salud y 8 expertos en hemoterapia. La preprueba se realizó con 36 profesionales de la población objetivo. Para el análisis de los datos, se calculó el Índice de Validez de Contenido. Resultados: la lista de verificación estuvo compuesta por 29 ítems y 90 subítems, distribuidos en tres dominios, correspondientes a las etapas del acto transfusional: Pre-transfusión (Prescripción médica, Compatibilidad e Identificación al pie de la cama); Transfusión (Instalación del componente sanguíneo); y Post-transfusión (Monitoreo). Los ítems obtuvieron un Índice de Validez de Contenido predominantemente > 0,80 en todas las etapas. Luego de reformulaciones sugeridas por los participantes, se obtuvo un Índice de Validez de Contenido de 0,98 en su versión final. Conclusión: la lista de verificación demostró evidencia de validez de contenido y puede ser una herramienta confiable para promover la seguridad del paciente durante la transfusión.

A concepção se deu pelo levantamento dos itens em revisão integrativa da literatura, validação com 17 especialistas da saúde e 8 experts em hemoterapia. O pré-teste foi realizado com 36 profissionais da população-alvo. Para análise dos dados, procedeu-se ao cálculo do Índice de Validade de Conteúdo. Resultados: o checklist ficou composto de 29 itens e 90 subitens, distribuídos em três domínios, correspondentes às etapas do ato transfusional: Pré-transfusão (Prescrição médica, Compatibilização e Identificação Beira-leito); Transfusão (Instalação do hemocomponente); e Pós-transfusão (Monitoramento). Os itens obtiveram Índice de Validade de Conteúdo predominantemente >0,80 em todas as etapas. Após realizadas reformulações sugeridas pelos participantes, obteve-se Índice de Validade de Conteúdo de 0,98 na sua versão final. Conclusão: o checklist demonstrou evidências de validade de conteúdo, podendo ser uma ferramenta confiável para promover a segurança do paciente no ato transfusional.

ABSTRACT Objective: To investigate the detection of subsolid nodules (SSNs) on chest CT scans of outpatients before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to correlate the imaging findings with epidemiological data. We hypothesized that (pre)malignant nonsolid nodules were underdiagnosed during the COVID-19 pandemic because of an overlap of imaging findings between SSNs and COVID-19 pneumonia. Methods: This was a retrospective study including all chest CT scans performed in adult outpatients (> 18 years of age) in September of 2019 (i.e., before the COVID-19 pandemic) and in September of 2020 (i.e., during the COVID-19 pandemic). The images were reviewed by a thoracic radiologist, and epidemiological data were collected from patient-filled questionnaires and clinical referrals. Regression models were used in order to control for confounding factors. Results: A total of 650 and 760 chest CT scans were reviewed for the 2019 and 2020 samples, respectively. SSNs were found in 10.6% of the patients in the 2019 sample and in 7.9% of those in the 2020 sample (p = 0.10). Multiple SSNs were found in 23 and 11 of the patients in the 2019 and 2020 samples, respectively. Women constituted the majority of the study population. The mean age was 62.8 ± 14.8 years in the 2019 sample and 59.5 ± 15.1 years in the 2020 sample (p < 0.01). COVID-19 accounted for 24% of all referrals for CT examination in 2020. Conclusions: Fewer SSNs were detected on chest CT scans of outpatients during the COVID-19 pandemic than before the pandemic, although the difference was not significant. In addition to COVID-19, the major difference between the 2019 and 2020 samples was the younger age in the 2020 sample. We can assume that fewer SSNs will be detected in a population with a higher proportion of COVID-19 suspicion or diagnosis.

RESUMO Objetivo: Investigar a detecção de nódulos subsólidos na TC de tórax de pacientes ambulatoriais antes e durante a pandemia de COVID-19, bem como correlacionar os achados de imagem com dados epidemiológicos. Nossa hipótese foi a de que nódulos não sólidos (pré) malignos foram subdiagnosticados durante a pandemia de COVID-19 em virtude da sobreposição de achados de imagem de nódulos subsólidos e pneumonia por COVID-19. Métodos: Estudo retrospectivo no qual foram incluídas todas as imagens de TC de tórax realizadas em pacientes ambulatoriais adultos (com idade > 18 anos) em setembro de 2019 (antes da pandemia de COVID-19) e em setembro de 2020 (durante a pandemia de COVID-19). As imagens foram reavaliadas por um radiologista torácico, e os dados epidemiológicos foram extraídos de questionários preenchidos pelos pacientes e de encaminhamentos clínicos. Modelos de regressão foram usados para controlar fatores de confusão. Resultados: Foram reavaliadas 650 e 760 imagens de TC de tórax nas amostras de 2019 e 2020, respectivamente. Foram encontrados nódulos subsólidos em 10,6% dos pacientes que compuseram a amostra de 2019 e em 7,9% daqueles que compuseram a amostra de 2020 (p = 0,10). Nódulos subsólidos múltiplos foram encontrados em 23 e 11 dos pacientes que compuseram as amostras de 2019 e 2020, respectivamente. As mulheres constituíram a maioria da população do estudo. A média de idade foi de 62,8 ± 14,8 anos na amostra de 2019 e de 59,5 ± 15,1 anos na amostra de 2020 (p < 0,01). A COVID-19 foi responsável por 24% de todos os encaminhamentos para a realização de TC em 2020. Conclusões: Foram detectados menos nódulos subsólidos na TC de tórax de pacientes ambulatoriais durante a pandemia de COVID-19 do que antes da pandemia, embora a diferença não tenha sido significativa. Além da COVID-19, a principal diferença entre as amostras de 2019 e 2020 foi o fato de que a amostra de 2020 era mais jovem. Podemos supor que menos nódulos subsólidos serão detectados numa população com maior proporção de suspeita ou diagnóstico de COVID-19.

Abstract Lignocellulosic biomass residues can generate interesting materials for the chemical and food industries. Physical activation processes were developed by cold pressing and slow pyrolysis, as well as physical chemical activation with zinc chloride (ZnCl2), to produce bio-based products, including bio-oil (30%) and biochar (31%), with good yields. Charcoal and biooil provided good results, respectively, with regard to adsorption capacity (357 m2 g-1 of surface area BET) and the possibility of extracting chemical compounds (phenols with 45.81% and aldehydes with 32.76%). Moreover, the key economic performance indicators of the process were analyzed, and the results indicate that the proposed process is economically feasible and attractive with $422,416.10 profits. Finally, after dialoguing with the babassu nut breakers and understanding their needs, the feasibility of economically developing the contacted families through technology transfer for extracting the oil, cake, biochar, and bio-oil from babassu coconuts was studied, demonstrating the possibility of income generation based on the profitability achieved in this study.

Tetracyclines comprise a large group of broad-spectrum antibiotics used in human and veterinary medicine. Its mechanism of action, via oral ingestion, is to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis, but a large amount (70%) is eliminated without being metabolized, which presents a risk for the arising of antibiotic-resistant species. In this study, the degradation of Tetracycline TC by non-thermal plasma NTP and the antimicrobial sensitivity of the treated solution are investigated. The degradation was followed by chromatographic analysis while the efficiency of NTP in inhibiting the action of TC on bacteria was evaluated by antimicrobial sensitivity test by disk diffusion method. The results showed a high rate of TC degradation, over 90%, in 10 min of NTP treatment for a 60 mL (107 mg L-1) sample and very slow increase up to 94% in 30 min. The antimicrobial sensitivity test of TC after degradation by NTP showed no antibiotic activity. Therefore, our findings are encouraging, since the removal efficiency is below the minimum threshold require, to prevent with high probability, outgrowth of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. In addition, the results confirm that the NTP treated solution is safe to the environment.

Abstract Background: Hyperthyroidism (Hy) is an endocrine disorder, in which the thyroid hormones markedly alter the cardiac function. Increased myocardial contractility and cardiac output, improvement in diastolic relaxation, changes in electrical activity, increments in ventricular mass, and arrhythmias have been reported. However, the influences of thyroid hormones upon molecular mechanisms of cardiac functions have not yet been fully understood. Objectives: To evaluate changes in cardiac contractile parameters and the Na+/Ca2+ exchanger (NCX) function in induced hyperthyroid rats. Methods: Hy was induced by intraperitoneal injections of T3 (15 μg/100 g) for 10 days. Contractile parameters and NCX function were evaluated in the isolated papillary muscle. Data normality was confirmed by the Shapiro-Wilk test. The comparison between groups was performed through an unpaired Student’s t-test. Results are expressed as mean ± SD. The accepted significance level was p < 0.05. Results: Our data revealed, in the Hy group, an increase of 30.98% in the maximum speed of diastolic relaxation (–284.64 ± 70.70 vs. –217.31 ± 40.30 mN/mm2/sec (p = 0.027)) and a boost of 149% in the NCX function in late phase of relaxation (20.17 ± 7.90 vs. 50.22 ± 11.94 minutes (p = 0.002)), with no changes in the maximum twitch force (p = 0.605) or maximum speed of systolic contraction (p = 0.208) when compared to the control. Conclusion: The improvement in relaxation parameters is hypothetically attributed to an increase in Sarco-Endoplasmic Reticulum Ca2+ATPase isoform 2 (SERCA2) expression and an increased calcium flow through L-type channels that boosted the NCX function.

RESUMO O linfedema crônico progressivo (LCP) é uma enfermidade incapacitante de cavalos de tração que afeta o sistema linfático e se manifesta especialmente na região distal dos membros. A progressão da doença resulta em deformações na região distal dos membros, especialmente na quartela, com fibrose e lesões nodulares na pele. Foi atendido um garanhão da raça Friesian, de 15 anos de idade, com histórico de aumento de volume, nodulações e deformações na região distal dos membros torácicos, com início há aproximadamente quatro anos. Ao exame radiográfico simples, foram identificadas nodulações na pele e no subcutâneo e, ao exame venoso contrastado, identificou-se marcante dilatação II veia digital palmar comum em ambos os membros torácicos. Foi isolado Streptococcus equi e Proteus mirabilis ao cultivo tecidual e identificou-se sarna do tipo corióptica ao raspado de pele. No exame histopatológico, foram identificadas perivasculite e dilatação de vasos linfáticos. Os achados clínicos, histórico, de raça do animal e os exames complementares direcionaram o diagnóstico para o LCP. A pesquisa da literatura nacional não revelou descrições clínicas dessa enfermidade, mas, devido ao aumento do número de animais de tração no país nos últimos anos, a descrição dessa enfermidade se torna importante. O diagnóstico correto e precoce é necessário para retardar a progressão da doença. Nesse sentido, ressalta-se a relevância da divulgação nacional desses achados, a fim de contribuir para o diagnóstico precoce e permitir o retardo da evolução da doença.

ABSTRACT Chronic Progressive Lymphoedema (CPL) is a disabling disease of draft horses that affects lymphatic system function typically in the distal limbs. Deformities of distal limbs, especially of the pastern, with fibrosis and skin nodular lesions are consequences of disease progression. A 15-year-old Friesian stallion presented for evaluation with history of forelimb enlargement and nodule formations distal to the carpus for four years. Simple radiographs showed soft tissue nodular lesions and venous contrasted radiography showed intense enlargement of II common digital palmar vein of both forelimbs. Tissue culture tests revealed Streptococcus equi and Proteus mirabilis isolation and skin scraping test identified Chorioptes bovis mites. Histological examination revealed perivasculitis and lymph vessels distention. History, clinical and histological findings, and complementary exams suggested CPL diagnosis. We were unable to find previously published cases describing this disease in Brazil, where the increasing number of draft horses requires attention to this problem. The correct and early diagnosis substantially delays disease progression. Therefore, we highlight the need for nationwide propagation of these data to ensure better diagnosis and early treatment of future CPL cases.

Abstract Lignocellulosic waste is a valuable source of energy, fuels, and raw materials for the chemical industry. In this study, the potential of cupuaçu husks, derivative from a typical fruit of the Brazilian Amazon, was evaluated. Therefore, biomass was submitted to acid hydrolysis and pyrolysis, and the contents of sugars, by-products, bio-oil compounds, and bio-oil theoretical energy potential were determined. X-ray diffraction, High performance liquid chromatography, Fourier-transform infrared and Gas chromatography mass spectrometry analyzes were used. The hydrolysate has considerable sugar levels (31.7%) and presence of relevant by-products including furfural, levulinic acid and hydroxymethylfurfural. Bio-oil contained a variety of phenolic compounds, and its theoretical energy potential suggested usability of cupuaçu husks for energy generation. Economic analysis showed that commercialization of bioproducts obtained by biomass hydrolysis and pyrolysis could be highly profitable. These outcomes indicate a range of applications for cupuaçu husks in biorefinery processes and potential to promote sustainability and social development.

Abstract Essential oils from four Ocotea species collected in southern Brazil were evaluated for chemical composition using gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. The primary compound identified in O. acutifolia essential oil was an unsaturated tetracyclic diterpene, phyllocladene (67.7%), followed by a sesquiterpene hydrocarbon, β-selinene (18.0%). The sesquiterpene fraction was predominant in oils from two collections of O. puberula; β-caryophyllene (25.2%) and globulol (22.6%) were the major compounds identified in collections 1 and 2, respectively. O. silvestris essential oil contained predominantly germacrene D and bicyclogermacrene. These compounds were also predominant in essential oil from O. indecora leaves collected from shady habitats. By contrast, essential oil extracted from O. indecora grown under direct sunlight contained mainly oxygenated sesquiterpenes, such as guaiol (30.2%), α-eudesmol (27.6%), and β-eudesmol (12.7%). Chemotaxis assays showed that Ocotea essential oils had no significant inhibitory activity on leukocyte migration compared with a chemotactic stimulant (lipopolysaccharide from Escherichia coli). However, the oils exhibited antifungal activity against Candida parapsilosis, with a minimum inhibitory concentration of 500 µg/mL. To our knowledge, this is the first study to investigate the in vitro antifungal and antichemotactic activities of essential oils from Ocotea species native to southern Brazil.

This work uses new waste feedstock, essential to increase the range of new biomasses, demonstrating experimentally and numerically the economic potential of coconut husk residues to produce renewable biofuels (pyrolytic oil and biochar) through slow pyrolysis. The samples were submitted to a pyrolysis process (500 ºC for 30 min, with a heating rate of 20 ºC min-1, using water vapor as carrier gas), where the biochar and bio-oil yields reached were 31 and 30%, respectively. The main components found in bio-oil were furfural (29.23%), phenol (22.18%), and isoeugenol (10.26%). The surface area values (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and Langmuir) found for biochar were greater than 300 m2 g-1 and a micropore volume of 0.11 cm3 g-1. The estimated theoretical energy potential of biochar and bio-oil were 208,107,180 MJ and 190,205,438 MJ, equivalent to 3,729,518.4 tons of coconut husks. Thus, this study brings as a novelty a new feedstock associated with bioprocess technological models that will pave sustainable avenues for the development of biorefineries, offering a sustainable green option to produce bioproducts and bioenergy. In the proposed model, the wastes are valorized using various processes addressing economy.

Cupuaçu husk (CH) is the waste of a common fruit from a native species of the Brazilian Legal Amazon. The current study investigated the influence of ultrasound (US) combined with aqueous, acid, alkaline, and ionic liquid (IL) pretreatments on the chemical and physical aspects of CH and the yield of chemical platforms production, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and furfural (FF), using IL. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to feature the raw and pretreated biomass. The highest levels of glucose (9.90 g L-1) were observed in the liquid fraction resulting from the acid + US pretreatment followed by acid hydrolysis. The IL + US pretreatment recorded the best performance in removing lignin. Based on XRD analyses, ultrasound increased crystallinity of all pretreated samples as a result of the removal of cellulose’s amorphous fraction. However, it promoted accessibility to adopted reagents by increasing biomass exposure due to cavitation. The best yields of HMF and FF were recorded from hydrolysis of the solid fraction resulting from the acid + US (12.94%) and alkaline + US (48.84%) pretreatment, respectively. These results indicate satisfactory performance of ultrasound assisted pretreatments to the simplified and economic conversion of biomass into value-added products.

Resumo O lauril sulfato de sódio é o principal ingrediente de limpeza em xampus, embora possa ser potencialmente prejudicial ao cabelo. A demanda por cosméticos ricos em antioxidantes, por outro lado, tem incentivado as pesquisas com cosméticos verdes. O Brasil possui uma vasta biodiversidade que pode ser explorada para a produção desses cosméticos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi desenvolver uma formulação de xampu antioxidante minimalista sem lauril com extratos de folhas da planta brasileira Hancornia speciosa Gomes. Dois extratos hidroetanólicos foram preparados usando diferentes métodos de extração, Soxhlet e ultrassom. Os extratos foram caracterizados quanto à presença de saponinas, quantificação de polifenóis e identificação química HLPC dos compostos. A atividade antioxidante foi determinada pelo método DPPH. O xampu antioxidante sem lauril foi desenvolvido utilizando hidroxietil celulose com duas concentrações de extrato de folha obtido por Soxhlet, 0.125 mg/g (XP1) e 0.250 mg/g (XP2). Juntamente com a atividade antioxidante, foram avaliadas as propriedades físicas e químicas, potencial de limpeza e qualidade da espuma. O extrato da folha de Soxhlet revelou um perfil químico mais favorável, incluindo resultado positivo para saponinas, além de maior quantidade de polifenóis e aumento da atividade antioxidante. A formulação XP2 apresentou melhor altura de espuma, dispersão de sujeira e atividade antioxidante. Assim, o uso do extrato da folha de mangabeira parece ser promissor para o desenvolvimento de xampus com atividade antioxidante.

Abstract Sodium lauryl sulfate is the main cleaning ingredient in shampoos, even though it may be potentially damaging to hair. The demand for antioxidant-rich cosmetics, on the other hand, has encouraged green cosmetics research. Brazil has vast biodiversity that can be exploited for the production of these cosmetics. This work aimed to develop a minimalist antioxidant lauryl-free shampoo formulation with leaf extracts from the Brazilian plant Hancornia speciosa Gomes. Two hydroethanolic extracts were prepared using different extraction methods, Soxhlet, and ultrasound. The extracts were characterized by the presence of saponins, polyphenol quantification, and HLPC chemical identification of the compounds. Antioxidant activity was determined using the DPPH method. The antioxidant lauryl-free shampoo was developed using hydroxyethyl cellulose with two concentrations of leaf extract obtained by Soxhlet, 0.125 mg/g (XP1) and 0.250 mg/g (XP2). Along with the antioxidant activity, the physical and chemical properties, cleaning potential, and foam quality were evaluated. The Soxhlet leaf extract revealed a more favorable chemical profile, including a positive result for saponins, as well as a larger quantity of polyphenols and increased antioxidant activity. The XP2 formulation showed better foam height, dirt dispersion, and antioxidant activity. Thus, the use of mangabeira leaf extract appears to be promising for the development of shampoos with antioxidant activity.

Using molecular simplification and molecular hybridization approaches, a series of 2-(benzylthio)-1H-benzo[d]imidazoles was synthesized and evaluated as in vitro inhibitors of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) growth. Compounds 6p and 6z were considered the lead compounds from this series of molecules, with minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of 6.9 and 3.8 µM against M. tuberculosis H37Rv, respectively. Additionally, the leading compounds were active against multidrug-resistant strains and were devoid of apparent toxicity to Vero and HepG2 cells, from 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and neutral red assays. Finally, the compounds presented good aqueous solubility and high plasma stability. These data together indicate that this class of molecules may furnish new anti-tuberculosis drug candidates for future development.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Spreader and super-spreader are terms that refer to people who have greater potential for disease transmission, to infect other people. OBJECTIVE: To present scientific evidence regarding the impact of COVID-19 spreaders. DESIGN AND SETTING: Systematic review of the literature (using the PRISMA framework), performed at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianópolis (SC), Brazil. METHODS: A search for articles was carried out in the SciELO, LILACS, PubMed, Scopus, Bireme and Web of Science databases. A search for gray literature was also conducted via Google Scholar. There was no restriction regarding place or language, and the search covered the period from January 2010 to August 2020. Studies were selected based on a combination of descriptors from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). RESULTS: Isolated cases of people diagnosed with COVID-19 who were classified as super-spreaders were found. They had been classified thus because they may have had greater potential for infecting other individuals. However, greater numbers of interventions are needed in order to identify and manage COVID-19 cases. There is little evidence regarding this detection, which further hinders recognition and understanding of super-spreading events. CONCLUSION: The scientific community needs greater depth of evaluation and understanding of how these patients physiologically develop the ability to propagate COVID-19 more intensely. A simpler way of tracking them is also necessary, given that many infected people are asymptomatic. Many patients also have mild symptoms, suggesting that these individuals could also be classified as possible COVID-19 spreaders. RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar as vivências de acadêmicos de enfermagem durante o estágio curricular obrigatório hospitalar em um Centro de Material e Esterilização com foco no desenvolvimento de liderança. Método: Trata-se de um relato de experiência de estágio curricular obrigatório hospitalar ancorado nas diretrizes curriculares nacionais para a enfermagem, de cunho descritivo-reflexivo, realizado em um hospital geral universitário no sul do Brasil, no período de março à junho de 2019. Resultados: Foram desenvolvidas atividades que proporcionaram o desenvolvimento de aspectos de liderança como gestão de pessoas, gestão de órteses e próteses, do planejamento cirúrgico, da gestão de conflitos e comunicação assertiva. Considerações finais: O estágio curricular obrigatório hospitalar em Centro de Materiais e Esterilização favoreceu aos estudantes o processo de liderança, a gestão, a tomada de decisão e desenvolvimento da autonomia de enfermeiros líderes.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the experiences of Nursing students during the mandatory hospital internship at a Material and Sterilization Center with a focus on leadership development. Method: This is an experience report of a mandatory hospital curricular internship anchored in the national curricular guidelines for Nursing, of a descriptive-reflective nature, and carried out in a general university hospital in southern Brazil, from March to June 2019. Results: Activities were developed in order to develop leadership aspects such as people, orthotics and prosthetics management, surgical planning, conflict management, and assertive communication. Final considerations: The mandatory hospital curricular internship at the Material and Sterilization Center favored the students in the leadership process, management, decision-making, and development of autonomy for leading nurses.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar las experiencias de los estudiantes de enfermería durante el internado hospitalario obligatorio en un Centro de Material y Esterilización con enfoque en el desarrollo del liderazgo. Método: Se trata de un relato de experiencia de internado curricular hospitalario obligatorio anclado en los lineamientos curriculares nacionales de enfermería, de carácter descriptivo-reflexivo, realizado en un hospital universitario general del sur de Brasil, de marzo a junio de 2019. Resultados: Se desarrollaron actividades que brindaron el desarrollo de aspectos de liderazgo como el manejo de personas, manejo de ortesis y prótesis, planificación quirúrgica, manejo de conflictos y comunicación asertiva. Consideraciones finales: La internación curricular hospitalaria obligatoria en el Centro de Materiales y Esterilización favoreció a los estudiantes en el proceso de liderazgo, gestión, toma de decisiones y desarrollo de la autonomía por parte de enfermeras líderes.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the experiences of nursing students during the mandatory hospital internship at a Material and Sterilization Center with a focus on leadership development. Method: This is an experience report of a mandatory hospital curricular internship anchored in the national curricular guidelines for nursing, of a descriptive-reflective nature, carried out in a general university hospital in southern Brazil, from March to June 2019. Results: Activities were developed that provided the development of leadership aspects such as people management, orthosis and prosthesis management, surgical planning, conflict management and assertive communication. Final considerations: The mandatory hospital curricular internship at the Materials and Sterilization Center favored students in the leadership process, management, decision making and development of autonomy for leading nurses. RESUMOObjetivo: Analisar as vivências de acadêmicos de enfermagem durante o estágio curricular obrigatório hospitalar em um Centro de Material e Esterilização com foco no desenvolvimento de liderança.Método: Trata-se de um relato de experiência de estágio curricular obrigatório hospitalar ancorado nas diretrizes curriculares nacionais para a enfermagem, de cunho descritivo-reflexivo, realizado em um hospital geral universitário no sul do Brasil, no período de março à junho de 2019.Resultados: Foram desenvolvidas atividades que proporcionaram o desenvolvimento de aspectos de liderança como gestão de pessoas, gestão de órteses e próteses, do planejamento cirúrgico, da gestão de conflitos e comunicação assertiva.Considerações finais: O estágio curricular obrigatório hospitalar em Centro de Materiais e Esterilização favoreceu aos estudantes o processo de liderança, a gestão, a tomada de decisão e desenvolvimento da autonomia de enfermeiros líderes.Palavras-chave: Esterilização.
