Abstract Chives are one of the most popular spice plants in world cuisine. It is usually produced by small producers, often in an organic farming system. However, research with chives in this production system is lacking. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the production of chives with the use of organic fertilizers before planting and in top dressing. Seven treatments were evaluated, resulting from the factorial 2x3+1, with two organic fertilizers (castor bean cake and hoof and horn powder) x 3 application modes (100% before planting; 100% in top dressing; 50% before planting and 50% in top dressing) + 1 control (without these organic fertilizers). The experimental design was in randomized blocks, with five replications and plots of 1 m2. The relative index of chlorophyll (“Spad” index), height, number of leaves, fresh and dry weight of the plants were evaluated. All treatments of the factorial were better than the control, showing that these organic fertilizers improve production in chives. It is recommended to use the hoof and horn powder in installments (50% before planting and 50% in top dressing) or 100% in top dressing, the latter option being more interesting for reducing the need for labor, with just one application moment.

RESUMO Objetivo Caracterizar os atos comunicativos de crianças com transtorno do desenvolvimento da linguagem, verificando a quantidade de atos comunicativos, atos comunicativos interativos e sua relação com a idade cronológica. Métodos Foram participantes 40 crianças de ambos os gêneros com diagnóstico de transtorno do desenvolvimento da linguagem com idades entre 3 anos e 2 meses e 7 anos e 11 meses. Todos os sujeitos foram avaliados com a Prova de Pragmática ABFW - Teste de Linguagem Infantil, em sua avaliação inicial. Especificamente para este estudo, focou-se na verificação da quantidade de atos comunicativos, atos comunicativos por minuto, atos comunicativos interativos e número de iniciativas comunicativas. Resultados Os dados indicaram que crianças com transtorno do desenvolvimento da linguagem apresentam alterações importantes em relação aos atos comunicativos e interações comunicativas e há correlação dessas variáveis com a idade cronológica. Conclusão Crianças com transtorno do desenvolvimento da linguagem apresentam diminuição no número de atos comunicativos, atos comunicativos interativos e interações comunicativas, quando comparadas aos valores de referência de crianças típicas, independentemente da idade.

ABSTRACT Purpose To characterize the communicative acts of children with Developmental Language Disorder, verifying the number of communicative acts, interactive communicative acts, and their relationship with chronological age. Methods Forty children of both sexes with a diagnosis of Developmental Language Disorder aged between 3 years and seven years and 11 months were subjects. All subjects were assessed with the ABFW Pragmatics Test - Child Language Test in their initial assessment. Specifically, this study focused on verifying the number of communicative acts, communicative acts per minute, interactive communicative acts, and the number of communicative initiatives. Results The data indicate that children with Developmental Language Disorder present significant alterations concerning communicative acts and communicative interactions, and there is a correlation between these variables and chronological age. Conclusion Children with Developmental Language Disorder show a decrease in the number of communicative acts, interactive communicative acts, and communicative interactions when compared to the reference values of typical children, regardless of age.

ABSTRACT Overcoming malnutrition in all its forms, which is also manifested in the obesity epidemic, is one of the priorities of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. This article presents reflections on food insecurity in Brazil, based on topics such as population growth, climate change, biodiversity and traditional and regenerative food systems; it also addresses the role of social initiatives to guarantee the Human Right to Adequate Food. The Nutrition and Poverty Research Group, Planetary Health - Brazil Group, and the Center for Artificial Intelligence (C4AI) - AgriBio Axis, assume that the organized and systemic resumption of the initiatives mentioned out in this position paper can contribute to the articulation between research, public policies and services, to combat all forms of malnutrition, as a complex and priority problem to ensure social welfare.

RESUMO O combate à má alimentação em todas as suas formas, que também se expressa na epidemia da obesidade, é uma das prioridades da Agenda 2030 e dos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável. Este artigo traz elementos sobre insegurança alimentar no Brasil, a partir de temas relativos ao crescimento populacional, mudanças climáticas, biodiversidade e sistemas alimentares tradicionais e regenerativos; trata também do papel dos movimentos sociais para a garantia do Direito Humano à Alimentação Adequada. O Grupo de Pesquisa em Nutrição e Pobreza, o Saúde Planetária Brasil, e o Centro de Inteligência Artificial (C4AI) - Eixo AgriBio, entendem que a retomada organizada e sistêmica das frentes apontadas neste artigo de posicionamento, pode constituir um caminho para a articulação entre pesquisa, serviço e políticas públicas na direção do combate à fome e às demais manifestações da má alimentação, enquanto problema complexo prioritário para a garantia do bem-estar social.

Investigating specialized plant metabolites, traditionally referred to as ‘secondary metabolites’ present in leaf extracts of cashew trees (Anacardium occidentale) resistant and susceptible to anthracnose disease was carried out using metabolomics combined with chemometric tools. We used clones of dwarf-cashew with the following variations of characteristics: resistant and healthy (CCP 76, BRS 226, BRS 189), susceptible and healthy (BRS 265), and another clone also susceptible but affected by the disease (BRS 265). The UPLC-QTOF-MSE (ultra performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry) analysis of the leaves of Anacardium clones allowed us to annotate a total of 39 metabolites. The multiple orthogonal partial discriminant analysis of the least-squares (OPLS-DA) allowed twelve metabolites to be potential biomarkers of differentiation among the clones studied. Namely, the triene-(17:3)-anacardic acid found on CCP 76 and BRS 189 clones, respectively, is the main candidate for biomarker of resistance. While catechin, B-type procyanidin isomers, and procyanidin dimer monogallate identified in BRS 265 are significant potential biomarkers of susceptibility.

ABSTRACT Objective: To update the recommendations to support decisions regarding the pharmacological treatment of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Brazil. Methods: Experts, including representatives of the Ministry of Health and methodologists, created this guideline. The method used for the rapid development of guidelines was based on the adoption and/or adaptation of existing international guidelines (GRADE ADOLOPMENT) and supported by the e-COVID-19 RecMap platform. The quality of the evidence and the preparation of the recommendations followed the GRADE method. Results: Twenty-one recommendations were generated, including strong recommendations for the use of corticosteroids in patients using supplemental oxygen and conditional recommendations for the use of tocilizumab and baricitinib for patients on supplemental oxygen or on noninvasive ventilation and anticoagulants to prevent thromboembolism. Due to suspension of use authorization, it was not possible to make recommendations regarding the use of casirivimab + imdevimab. Strong recommendations against the use of azithromycin in patients without suspected bacterial infection, hydroxychloroquine, convalescent plasma, colchicine, and lopinavir + ritonavir and conditional recommendations against the use of ivermectin and remdesivir were made. Conclusion: New recommendations for the treatment of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 were generated, such as those for tocilizumab and baricitinib. Corticosteroids and prophylaxis for thromboembolism are still recommended, the latter with conditional recommendation. Several drugs were considered ineffective and should not be used to provide the best treatment according to the principles of evidence-based medicine and to promote resource economy.

RESUMO Objetivo: Atualizar as recomendações para embasar as decisões para o tratamento farmacológico de pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19 no Brasil. Métodos: A elaboração desta diretriz foi feita por especialistas, incluindo representantes do Ministério da Saúde e metodologistas. O método utilizado para o desenvolvimento rápido de diretrizes baseou-se na adoção e/ou adaptação de diretrizes internacionais existentes (GRADE ADOLOPMENT) e contou com o apoio da plataforma e-COVID-19 RecMap. A qualidade das evidências e a elaboração das recomendações seguiram o método GRADE. Resultados: Chegaram-se a 21 recomendações, incluindo recomendações fortes quanto ao uso de corticosteroides em pacientes em uso de oxigênio suplementar e recomendações condicionais para o uso de tocilizumabe e baricitinibe, em pacientes com oxigênio suplementar ou ventilação não invasiva, e de anticoagulantes, para prevenção de tromboembolismo. Devido à suspensão da autorização de uso, não foi possível fazer recomendações para o tratamento com casirivimabe + imdevimabe. Foram feitas recomendações fortes contra o uso de azitromicina em pacientes sem suspeita de infecção bacteriana, hidroxicloroquina, plasma convalescente, colchicina e lopinavir + ritonavir, além de recomendações condicionais contra o uso de ivermectina e rendesivir. Conclusão: Foram criadas novas recomendações para o tratamento de pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19, como as recomendações de tocilizumabe e baricitinibe. Ainda são recomendados corticosteroides e profilaxia contra tromboembolismo, esta em caráter condicional. Vários medicamentos foram considerados ineficazes e não devem ser usados, no intuito de proporcionar o melhor tratamento segundo os princípios da medicina baseada em evidências e promover a economia de recursos.

ABSTRACT The ecological structure of forest fragments is closely related to the dynamics of biological flows directly dependent on the decomposition of the litterfall, which is the main mechanism of recycling nutrients to plants. In this sense, the objective of the present work was to quantify the annual litterfall productionduring the period from April 2013 to March 2014 in Mata do Bebo, an Atlantic Forest fragment located in Macaíba, Rio Grande do Norte. 10 conical collectors were used to obtain the data on the litter contribution, with an average opening area of 0.128 m2, placed 1 m above the ground. The material was collected monthly, dried at air temperature for 48 h, and separated into four fractions: leaves, bark and branches, reproductive material; and miscellaneous material. After separation, the fractions were weighed and stored. The total contribution of litter was uninterrupted and totaled 5,038.72 kg ha-1 yea-1, with the highest production in September, at the beginning of the dry season, and the lowest in July. The foliar fraction made the largest contribution, with 3,744.26 kg ha-1 yean1, followed by the reproductive material, which reached 846.29 kg ha-1 year-1, branches and bark, with 396.10 kg ha-1 year-1, and miscellaneous material, with 52,069 kg ha-1 year-1. The correlations of litterfall production with rainfall and temperature were negative. The litterfall production in the fragment was lower than that obtained in other remaining Atlantic Forest areas, possibly because it is located in a region considered an ecotone between the Caatinga and Atlantic Forest biomes, besides the anthropic effect to which it has been submitted for decades.

RESUMEN La estructura ecológica de un fragmento de bosque está estrechamente relacionada con la dinámica de los flujos biológicos, ya que depende directamente de la descomposición de la hojarasca, que representa el principal mecanismo de disponibilidad y retorno de nutrientes a las plantas. El objetivo de este trabajo fue cuantificar la producción anual de hojarasca en un fragmento de Bosque Atlántico en el noreste de Brasil. Para obtener datos sobre la producción de hojarasca se utilizaron 10 colectores cónicos con una superficie media de 0,128 m 2 , situados a 1 m de altura. El material se recogía mensualmentg, se secaba a temperatura ambiente durante 48 h y se separaba en fracciones: hojas, corteza, ramas, material de reproducción y miscelánea. Después de la separación las fracciones fueron pesadas y almacenadas. La producción de hojarasca fue ininterrumpida y ascendió a un total de 5.038,72 kg ha -1 .año~ 1 , con la mayor producción en septiembre, al comienzo del período seco, y la menor en julio. La fracción foliar fue la que presentó el mayor aporte en la producción de la hojarasca, con 3.744,26 kg ha -1 año- 1 , seguida del material de reproducción que alcanzó a 846,29 kg ha -1 año -1 , las ramas y las cáscaras con 396,10 kg ha -1 añoy material misceláneo con 52.069 kg ha -1 año -1 . Las correlaciones de la producción de hojarasca con la lluvia y la temperatura resultaron negativas. La producción de hojarasca en el fragmento fue menor que la obtenida en otras zonas del Bosque Atlántico, posiblemente porque se encuentra en una región considerada un ecotono con la Caatinga, además del efecto antrópico al que ha estado sometido durante décadas.

In this study, we demonstrated that Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae), a generalist herbivore, induces volatile organic compounds (VOC) in Croton floribundus Spreng., a pioneer species widely used in Brazilian urban area. We performed experiments to evaluate the quality and quantity of VOC emission at different times (two, six and 24 hours and within four and nine days) of infestation by T. urticae. Results show that C. floribundus emitted 23 volatiles after infestation, including monoterpene, sesquiterpene and green leaf volatiles. Significant differences were only detected between infested and non-infested plants after 24 hours of treatment, in particular methyl salicylate. In contrast, 3-hexen-1ol, linaool, geranyl acetone and caryophyllene seem to be inhibited by hourly infestation. The α-farnesene, methyl salicylate, 3-carene, 3-hexen-1ol benzoate and nerolidol were the main compounds induced after four infestation-days. This study highlights that VOCs blends in C. floribundus is depended on the feeding time-course of T. urticae and suggests that the VOC-mediated ecological interaction may be less efficient in a pioneer species.

Neste estudo foi demonstrado que o Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae), um herbívoro generalista, promove a emissão de compostos orgânicos voláteis (COV) em Croton floribundus (L.) Spreng., uma espécie pioneira amplamente utilizada na área urbana brasileira. Avaliou-se a qualidade e quantidade de emissão de COV em diferentes momentos (2, 6 e 24 horas e no intervalo de 4 e 9 dias) de infestação por T. urticae. Os resultados mostram que C. floribundus emitiu 23 voláteis após infestação, incluindo monoterpenos, sesquiterpenos e voláteis de folhas verdes. Diferenças significativas entre plantas infestadas e não infestadas foram detectadas após 24 horas de tratamento, em particular foram observadas alterações nos níveis de metil salicitato. Em contraste, o 3-hexen-1ol, linaool, geranil acetona e cariofileno parecem ter sido inibidos pela infestação horária. O α-farneseno, metil salicilato, 3-careno, benzoato de 3-hexen-1ol e nerolidol foram os principais compostos induzidos após quatro dias de infestação. Este estudo demonstra que o buquet de COVs emitido por C. floribundus depende do tempo de infestação da T. urticae e sugere que a interação ecológica mediada por COVs pode ser menos eficiente em espécie pioneira.

ABSTRACT In this study, pollen grains of Harleyodendron unifoliolatum, Holocalyx balansae, and Uribea tamarindoides, three monospecific genera with Neotropical distribution belonging to the clade Exostyleae, one of the basal lineages of the family Leguminosae, subfamily Papilionoideae, were analyzed. The palynological material was acetolyzed and analyzed under light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Under LM, small and medium-sized pollen grains were observed, which showed a prolate-spheroidal to prolate shape, 3-colporate, microreticulate and reticulate exine, sexine and nexine of equal thickness in Harleyodendron and Holocalyx, while the sexine was thicker than nexine in Uribea. Analysis under SEM showed finely granulate, psilate, and granulate apertural membrane, while the exine ornamentation varied from perforate-microechinate in Harleyodendron, to perforate in Holocalyx, while in Uribea showed an irregular relief and granular projections on the perforate tectum. The pollen morphology of these species is similar to each other, varying in sexine/nexine ratio, apertural membrane, and exine ornamentation. Harleyodendron has a finely granulate apertural membrane, sexine and nexine of equal thickness, and a perforate-microreticulate exine ornamentation, Holocalyx shows a psilated apertural membrane, sexine and nexine of equal thickness, and exine ornamentation perforate, and Uribea has a granulate apertural membrane, sexine thicker than nexine, and exine ornamentation with granular projections.

Resumo O objetivo foi descrever estratégias e políticas de atenção às pessoas com deficiência em períodos de emergência em saúde pública, em especial na COVID-19. Foram incluídos 29 estudos e 49 estratégias agrupadas em oito categorias: 1) habitação, mobilidade e infraestrutura; 2) trabalho, ocupação e renda; 3) assistência social; 4) telessaúde; 5) atenção integral à saúde; 6) planejamento e gestão; 7) comunicação; e 8) educação. O panorama das estratégias pode orientar políticas públicas, com ações viáveis que promovam equidade para as pessoas com deficiência.

Abstract This study aimed to describe strategies and policies necessary to provide care for people with disabilities during periods of public health emergencies, especially COVID-19. Twenty-nine studies and 49 strategies were included, grouped into eight categories: 1) housing, mobility, and infrastructure; 2) work, occupation, and income; 3) social assistance; 4) telehealth; 5) comprehensive health care; 6) planning and management; 7) communication; and 8) education. The overview of the strategies can help to guide public policies, with feasible actions that promote more significant equity for disabled people.

Abstract The aim of this study was to develop an adsorbent from coffee husk, residue from the coffee industry by different activation methods and to evaluate its application in the treatment of effluent containing synthetic Ponceau 4R dye. The activations were with phosphoric acid and zinc chloride, then the samples were characterized in terms of physical and chemical composition, structure and morphology, thermal behavior and kinetic and thermodynamic study. Regarding the characterization of the material, the activation with phosphoric acid showed porous morphology and a high surface area (429.7 m2 g-1) and with the kinetic study it was possible to obtain an equilibrium time of 60 min and dispersion according to Elovich kinetics (R2 = 0.96 and RMSE < 0.24). According to the experimental design, the adsorptive capacity can be evaluated with the significant result (qe = 19.87 mg g-1) under the conditions of 90 min of the adsorption process and at the concentration of 2 g L-1 of adsorbent. In relation to the equilibrium study the Langmuir model fit the data with coefficient of determination of R2 = 0.84. Finally, the Ponceau 4R dye adsorption process using coffee husks as an activated carbon was thermodynamically favorable through the negative Gibbs free energy and positive entropy (+0.022 kJ mol-1 K-1). Therefore, the use of coffee husk as activated carbon proved to be a favorable material for Ponceau 4R dye adsorption.

RESUMEN Objetivo: comprender las experiencias y estrategias de afrontamiento de niños y adolescentes con enfermedades crónicas durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Métodos: estudio descriptivo, de enfoque cualitativo, realizado con seis niños y adolescentes en la recepción de un ambulatorio de un hospital pediátrico del estado de Ceará. La recolección de datos se realizó de abril a septiembre de 2021, mediante dibujo-cuento, analizados a la luz del criterio de Coutinho. Resultados: surgieron dos categorías temáticas: Situaciones que viven niños y adolescentes en tiempos de COVID-19; Estrategias de afrontamiento de niños y adolescentes en su proceso de enfermedad crónica durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Consideraciones finales: comprender las experiencias y estrategias de afrontamiento de niños y adolescentes con enfermedades crónicas demostró la expresión de la imaginación creativa, incorporado por componentes subjetivos, que pone de manifiesto una aproximación con la realidad percibida e interpretada en un contexto de pandemia de COVID-19.

ABSTRACT Objective: to understand the experiences and coping strategies of children and adolescents with chronic illnesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, carried out with six children and adolescents at the reception of an outpatient clinic of a pediatric hospital in the state of Ceará. Data collection took place from April to September 2021, using story-drawing, analyzed in light of Coutinho’s criteria. Results: two thematic categories emerged: Situations experienced by children and adolescents in times of COVID-19; Coping strategies for children and adolescents in their chronic illness process during the COVID-19 pandemic. Final considerations: understanding the experiences and coping strategies of children and adolescents with chronic illness demonstrated the expression of creative imagination, incorporated by subjective components, which brings to light an approximation with the reality perceived and interpreted in a context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

RESUMO Objetivo: compreender as vivências e estratégias de enfrentamento das crianças e adolescentes com doenças crônicas durante a pandemia de COVID-19. Métodos: estudo descritivo, de abordagem qualitativa, realizado com seis crianças e adolescentes em acompanhamento ambulatorial de um hospital pediátrico do estado do Ceará. A coleta de dados foi realizada de abril a setembro de 2021, utilizando-se desenho-estória, analisada à luz dos critérios de Coutinho. Resultados: emergiram duas categorias temáticas: Situações vivenciadas por crianças e adolescentes em tempos de COVID-19; Estratégias de enfrentamento de crianças e adolescentes em seu processo de adoecimento crônico durante a pandemia de COVID-19. Considerações finais: a compreensão das vivências e estratégias de enfrentamento das crianças e adolescentes com adoecimento crônico demonstrou a expressão da imaginação criadora, incorporada por componentes subjetivos, que traz à tona aproximação com a realidade percebida e interpretada em um contexto de pandemia pela COVID-19.

ABSTRACT Toxoplasmosis is an infection of vast worldwide distribution whose etiologic agent is Toxoplasma gondii. This disease can cause problems ranging from mild symptoms to serious conditions, such as encephalitis, miscarriage and blindness. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to perform a diagnosis with reproducible techniques in order to obtain a good prognosis. The aim of this review was to analyze the efficiency of toxoplasmosis diagnostic techniques based on sensitivity and specificity results. Five research platforms in English language were used (Eric, Elsevier, Google Scholar, PubMed and SciELO), which contained data on the diagnosis of toxoplasmosis. The search and selection were performed for studies published prior to June 2021. The search resulted in the inclusion of 13 articles published from 2005 to 2020. The data revealed the use of different samples in the standardization of techniques such as serum, total blood, colostrum and amniotic fluid. The flow cytometry, lateral flow immunoassay and qPCR techniques showed 100% sensitivity, whereas the ELISA, western blotting, qPCR and RE-LAMP techniques achieved 100% specificity. Significantly, the qPCR and LAMP techniques were more accurate when the likelihood ratio was assessed. The meta-analysis identified that ISAGA and western blotting have low sensitivity values and LIASON, ELFA and ELISA, using a silica bioconjugate, also have low specificity values. It was noted that a wide range of methods have high values of sensitivity and specificity. Therefore, the choice of the method will be based on the conditions and its financial viability.

ABSTRACT Objective: To identify factors related to parental stress of women during pregnancy and the child’s first month of life. Method: Prospective longitudinal study in two stages. Analysis of home interviews with 121 participants, Gestational Stress Scale, and Parental Stress Scale. Fisher’s exact test, Spearman’s correlation, and linear and logistic multivariate regression were applied, with p < 0.05. Results: Most of the participants were between 18 and 35 years old, had 11 to 13 years of education, had no paid work, had a partner, usually the child’s father, planned pregnancy, were multiparous, and underwent prenatal care. During pregnancy, 67.8% had stress. In the first month after the child’s birth, most had low parental stress (52.1%). High parental stress correlated with some gestational stress. Planning pregnancy decreased parental stress. Conclusion: Gestational and parental stress in the child’s first month of life were correlated and pregnancy planning was a factor that reduced stress levels. Timely actions to reduce parental stress are essential for parenting and the child’s overall health.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Identificar factores relacionados con el estrés parental de la mujer durante el embarazo y el primer mes de vida del niño. Método: Estudio longitudinal prospectivo en dos etapas. Análisis de entrevistas domiciliarias con 121 participantes, Escala de Estrés Gestacional y Estrés Parental. Se aplicó la prueba exacta de Fisher, correlación de Spearman y regresión multivariada lineal y logística, con p < 0,05. Resultados: La mayoría de las participantes tenía entre 18 y 35 años, tenía entre 11 y 13 años de escolaridad, no tenía trabajo remunerado, tenía pareja, generalmente el padre del niño, embarazo planificado, multípara y realizó control prenatal. Durante el embarazo, el 67,8% tuvo estrés. En el primer mes después del nacimiento del hijo, la mayoría presentó bajo estrés parental (52,1%). El estrés parental alto se correlacionó con algo de estrés gestacional. La planificación del embarazo disminuyó el estrés parental. Conclusión: El estrés gestacional y parental en el primer mes de vida del niño se correlacionaron y la planificación del embarazo fue un factor en la reducción de los niveles de estrés. Las acciones oportunas para reducir el estrés parental son esenciales para la responsabilidad parental y la salud general del niño.

Análise de entrevistas em domicílio com 121 participantes, Escala de Estresse Gestacional e de Estresse Parental. Aplicados teste exato de Fisher, correlação de Spearman e regressão multivariada linear e logística, com p < 0,05. Resultados: A maior parcela das participantes tinha entre 18 e 35 anos, 11 a 13 anos de estudo, sem trabalho remunerado, com companheiro, geralmente o pai da criança, gestação planejada, multípara e realização do pré-natal. Na gestação, 67,8% apresentaram estresse. No primeiro mês após o nascimento do filho, a maioria teve baixo estresse parental (52,1%). Estresse parental alto apresentou correlação com algum estresse gestacional. Planejar a gestação diminuiu o estresse parental. Conclusão: Estresse gestacional e parental no primeiro mês de vida da criança foram correlacionados e o planejamento da gestação constituiu fator de diminuição dos níveis de estresse. Ações oportunas para reduzir o estresse parental são fundamentais para a parentalidade e saúde integral da criança.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic, with physical distancing measures and its consequences for occupations of adults and children, motivated this investigation, which aimed to analyze, from the perspective of family members, the influence of social distancing on the participation of 4 to 6-year-olds in their occupations, as well as identifying the resources available and used by families to promote participation in this context. This is a quantitative, descriptive and exploratory study. Data were collected through an online questionnaire, via Google Forms, published on social networks and news sites. A total of 330 responses were obtained, with the majority of respondents being mothers, from the Southeast region, post-graduated and with family income predominantly above six minimum wages. About the children, the majority were white and with no disabilities. Among the changes perceived in occupations, achievements in communication, greater independence and participation in household and family tasks, excessive use of electronics, boredom and more elaborate play, difficulty for adults to accompany children, and strengthening of family ties, stood out. The family was mentioned as the main source of support and the teacher as a source of information for the families. Studies with greater sample diversity are suggested.

Resumo A pandemia da COVID-19, com as medidas de distanciamento físico e seus desdobramentos nas ocupações de adultos e crianças, motivou esta investigação, que teve como objetivo analisar, sob a perspectiva de familiares, a influência do distanciamento social na participação de crianças de 4 a 6 anos em suas ocupações, bem como identificar os recursos disponíveis e utilizados pelas famílias para promover a participação nesse contexto. Este é um estudo quantitativo, descritivo e exploratório. Os dados foram coletados por meio de questionário online, via GoogleForms, divulgado em redes sociais e sites de notícias. Obteve-se um total de 330 respostas, sendo a maioria das respondentes mães, da região Sudeste, pós-graduadas e com renda familiar predominantemente acima de seis salários mínimos. Sobre as crianças, a maioria era branca e sem deficiência. Dentre as mudanças percebidas nas ocupações, destacou-se conquistas na comunicação, maior independência e participação em tarefas domésticas e familiares, uso excessivo de eletrônicos, tédio e brincar mais elaborado, dificuldade dos adultos em acompanhar as crianças e fortalecimento de vínculos familiares. A família foi citada como a principal fonte de apoio e o professor como fonte de informação para as famílias. Sugere-se estudos com maior diversidade amostral.

ABSTRACT: Children’s play is recognized as an occupation that favors children’s development and autonomy. Studies carried out with children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) showed impairments in participation in playing. This study aimed to describe the participation of children with typical development and with ASD in play situations in the context of Early Childhood Education. It was an exploratory and descriptive qualitative study that used the observation of playing behavior in school as an instrument of data collection. Six children between 4 and 5 years old participated in the research, three with typical development and three diagnosed with ASD. Although the study was not intended to make comparisons, the main results showed differences between the two groups. Children with ASD showed development of playful behavior not consistent with age and concrete play with absent or rudimentary social interaction. These results point to reflections in the context of Occupational Therapy for the development of strategies aimed at the participation of children in Early Childhood Education, indicating the need to promote mediated opportunities and/or with toys adapted according to the interests of children with ASD.

RESUMO: O brincar infantil é reconhecido como ocupação que favorece o desenvolvimento e a autonomia das crianças. Estudos realizados com crianças com Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA) evidenciaram comprometimentos na participação no brincar. Este estudo objetivou descrever a participação de crianças com desenvolvimento típico e com TEA em situações de brincadeiras no contexto da Educação Infantil. Tratou-se de um estudo de abordagem qualitativa do tipo exploratória e descritiva que empregou a observação do comportamento do brincar na escola como instrumento de coleta de dados. Participaram da pesquisa seis crianças entre 4 e 5 anos, sendo três com desenvolvimento típico e três diagnosticadas com TEA. Embora o estudo não tenha tido a intenção de estabelecer comparações, os principais resultados apontaram diferenças entre os dois grupos. Crianças com TEA evidenciaram desenvolvimento do comportamento lúdico não condizente com a idade e um brincar concreto e com interação social ausente ou rudimentar. Esses resultados apontam para reflexões no contexto da Terapia Ocupacional para o desenvolvimento de estratégias que visem a participação das crianças na Educação Infantil, indicando a necessidade de promoção de oportunidades mediadas e/ou com brinquedos adaptados de acordo com os interesses das crianças com TEA.
