Abstract: Seeds of the genus Eugenia have high regenerative capacity, producing roots and shoots from seeds with reduced cotyledon matter. In addition, seeds of this genus regenerate new roots and shoots when the first roots and shoots are eliminated, and this characteristic is maintained even when the seed reserves are reduced by up to half. The aim of this study was to analyze the limits of new root and shoot regenerative capacity in whole and fractionated Eugenia candolleana seeds at different maturity stages. The regenerative capacity of seeds stored for six months was also evaluated. The seeds were sown; and when the first roots and shoots were produced, they were eliminated, simulating herbivory conditions. The results showed that the seed not only has high regenerative capacity at different maturity stages, but also that it maintains root regeneration when the seed is reduced by half, even after the storage period. Such information may indicate that seeds of the Eugenia genus can await the next crop season by regenerating several times as a way to withstand or tolerate predation. This ability can be understood as a propagation strategy of the species.

Resumo: Sementes do gênero Eugenia apresentam alta capacidade regenerativa, produzindo raízes e partes aéreas a partir de sementes que tiveram redução da massa cotiledonar. Também, foi observado, para sementes deste gênero, a regeneração de novas raízes e partes aéreas, quando as primeiras raízes e partes aéreas são eliminadas, ainda, tal característica se mantém quando a semente teve suas reservas reduzidas pela metade. Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar os limites das regenerações de novas raízes e partes aéreas em sementes inteiras e fracionadas de Eugenia candolleana, em diferentes estádios de maturação. Avaliou-se também, a capacidade regenerativa em sementes armazenadas por seis meses. As sementes foram semeadas e quando emitiram as primeiras raízes e partes aéreas, estas foram eliminadas, simulando uma condição de herbivoria. Os resultados mostraram que, além de apresentar alta capacidade regenerativa em diferentes estádios de maturação, a semente reduzida pela metade, a regeneração de raízes se manteve, inclusive após o período de armazenamento, tais informações podem indicar que sementes do gênero Eugenia são capazes de aguardar a próxima safra regenerando diversas vezes, como maneira de suportar ou tolerar a predação. Essa habilidade pode ser entendida como estratégia de propagação da espécie.

SUMMARY Seeds germination and crop productions depend mostly on the planting methods used, initial soil mechanical conditions and soil moisture. The main objective of this work was to quantify the agricultural traffic effects on soil compaction, sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) seed emergence and yield under two different soil mechanical conditions: No-tillage (NT) and conventional tillage (CT). The trial was located in the western Pampas region during three cropping seasons on an Entic Hapludoll. The parameters measured were: (1) seed emergence, (2) dry bulk density, (3) cone index, (4) water infiltration and (5) crop yields. The main results showed that the emergence was 17.3 % earlier in LC than in NL and the cone index and bulk density values were lower for the CT up to 450 mm. The average yields for the 3 cropping seasons were 3.23 tons ha-1 and 1.99 tons ha-1 for CT and NT, respectively. The main conclusion is that the soil worked under CT is a soil with a low compaction level up to 150 mm. This, in turn, led to a higher plant emergence count and to a more uniform crop establishment and distribution than in the soil worked under NT.

RESUMEN La germinación de semillas y la producción de cultivos dependen del sistema de siembra, las condiciones mecánicas y el contenido de agua del suelo. El objetivo principal de este trabajo fue cuantificar los efectos del tráfico agrícola sobre la compactación del suelo, la emergencia y el rendimiento del girasol (Helianthus annuus L.)en dos condiciones de suelo: no-labranza (NL) y labranza convencional (LC). El ensayo se localizó en el oeste de la región pampeana durante tres años sobre suelo Hapludol éntico. Los parámetros medidos fueron: (1) emergencia de semillas, (2) densidad aparente seca, (3) índice de cono, (4) infiltración de agua y (5) rendimiento del cultivo. Los principales resultados mostraron que la emergencia fue 17,3 % más temprana en LC que NL y los valores de índice de cono y densidad aparente fueron menores para el suelo en LC hasta los 450 mm. Los rendimientos promedios fueron de 3,23 ton ha-1 y 1,99 ton ha-1 para LC y NL, respectivamente. La principal conclusión es que el suelo bajo LC posee bajos niveles de compactación hasta los 150 mm, esto resultó en un mayor número de brotes de plantas logrando una distribución del cultivo más uniforme que NL.

Resumen Se realizaron recolectas de mosquitos (Diptera: Culicidae) en el intradomicilio y peridomicilio a lo largo de la frontera Chiapas-Guatemala durante octubre-noviembre del 2018. Se recolectaron 4,439 especímenes pertenecientes a 2 subfamilias, 18 géneros y 41 especies, una de ellas Mansonia dyari (Belkin, Heinemann y Page, 1970) es un nuevo registro estatal para Chiapas. De las 41 especies recolectadas, 21 tienen importancia en salud pública, siendo algunas de ellas los principales vectores de malaria, dengue, fiebre amarilla, chikungunya, zika, mayaro, encefalitis equina venezolana, encefalitis equina del oeste y fiebre del valle del Rift. Culex quinquefasciatus y Aedes aegypti mostraron ser las más abundantes. En algunos casos, los municipios con mayor número de especies e individuos no fueron los más diversos y equitativos, con una alta disimilitud en la composición de sus especies. El intradomicilio obtuvo las mayores abundancias de mosquitos, sin embargo, su diversidad y equitatividad fue baja a diferencia del peridomicilio, presentándose una disimilitud ligeramente alta entre sus especies. Los resultados obtenidos tienen importancia para el establecimiento de programas de vigilancia y control en los municipios fronterizos en el estado de Chiapas, ya que brindan información base de la presencia y distribución de la fauna de mosquitos.

Abstract Mosquito collection was conducted intradomiciliary and peridomiciliary along the Chiapas-Guatemala international border during October-November 2018. We collected 4,439 specimens belonging to 2 subfamilies, 18 genera and 41 species, one of which Mansonia dyari (Belkin, and Page, 1970) is a new record for Chiapas, and 21 species with medical importance were found. Culex quinquefasciatus and Aedes aegypti were the most common species. Some municipalities with the highest number of species and individuals were not the most diverse and equitable, with a high dissimilarity in species composition. The intradomiciliary collections obtained the highest abundances of species, however the diversity and evenness were low in contrast with the peridomiciliary collections, where obtained slightly high dissimilarity among species. The results obtained have importance for the establishment of surveillance and mosquito control programs in the state of Chiapas, since they provide basic information on the occurrence and distribution of mosquito fauna.

RESUMEN Se presenta la evolución histórica de la certificación de especialistas en medicina familiar en México, a 35 años de su fundación. Asimismo, se abordan brevemente los procesos de evaluación de los sustentantes y la importancia de mantener la «vigencia de la certificación». Se realiza el benchmarking de la certificación en otros países con procesos de certificación bien definidos y consolidados. Al final, se presentan los retos más inmediatos de la certificación en México para esta especialidad.

ABSTRACT: The historical evolution of the Certification of Specialists in Family Medicine in Mexico is presented, 35 years after its foundation. Likewise, the evaluation processes of the applicants and the importance of maintaining the “Certification Validity” are briefly addressed. Certification benchmarking is carried out in other countries with well-defined and consolidated certification processes. At the end, the most immediate challenges of the Certification in Mexico for this specialty are presented.

Resumen Introducción. El pueblo hitnü vive en condiciones sanitarias precarias, con inseguridad alimentaria y víctima de la violencia sociopolítica en Arauca (Colombia). Además, se sospecha que pueden estar afectados por la exposición a los hidrocarburos del petróleo. Objetivo. Identificar los eventos de salud del perfil de morbilidad y mortalidad de los indígenas hitnü que podrían asociarse con la exposición a petróleo crudo. Materiales y métodos. Se realizó un estudio transversal con indígenas hitnü, durante febrero y marzo de 2021, época de sequía. Se aplicó un cuestionario de hogares y uno individual para recolectar datos del ambiente peridomiciliario, ocupaciones y otras actividades, así como datos sociodemográficos, signos, síntomas y hallazgos de un examen médico. La potencial asociación con los hidrocarburos se exploró considerando tres grupos, según su localización: cabecera de Arauca, resguardo Aspejená (no expuestos) y resguardos de San José del Lipa y La Vorágine (expuestos por su cercanía al río Ele y afluentes). Con listados libres, se exploraron las causas de muerte. El estudio incorporó un riguroso manejo intercultural en todos sus componentes. Resultados. Participaron 576 indígenas de 16 asentamientos. El agua consumida pudo servir como medio de exposición a los hidrocarburos. Los problemas de salud fueron muy variados e incluían enfermedades infecciosas y crónicas, malnutrición y trauma. Las masas en el cuello se asociaron con residir en los resguardos ancestrales (RP=3,86; IC95% 1,77-8,39), territorios potencialmente expuestos al petróleo. Las causas de muerte más relevantes fueron el homicidio, los tumores y la tuberculosis. Conclusión: Por su posible asociación con los hidrocarburos, es prioritario el estudio intercultural de linfoadenopatías entre indígenas potencialmente expuestos al petróleo.

Abstract Introduction: The Hitnü indigenous people live in precarious sanitary conditions, with food insecurity and being victims of sociopolitical violence in Arauca, Colombia. In addition, it is possible that they may be affected by exposure to hydrocarbons found in oil. Objective: To identify the health outcomes of morbidity and mortality profiles of the Hitnü people that could be associated with the exposure to crude oil. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out with Hitnü indigenous people, during February and March, 2021, time of drought. A household questionnaire was applied, and one individual to collect data from the environment around the house, occupations and other activities, as well as data from sociodemographic, signs, symptoms, and findings of a medical examination. The potential association with hydrocarbons was explored considering three groups: inhabitants in Arauca city, Aspejaná reserve (not exposed), and San José del Lipa and La Vorágine reserves (exposed by the Ele river and tributaries). With free listings, causes of death were explored. The study incorporated a rigorous intercultural management in all its components. Results: A total of 576 indigenous people from 16 settlements participated. The water consumed could serve as means of exposure to hydrocarbons. Health problems were very varied, including infectious and chronic diseases, malnutrition, and trauma. The masses on the neck were associated with residing in the ancestral reserves (PR = 3.86; CI95% 1.77-8.39), territories with potential exposure to crude-oil. The most relevant causes of death were homicide, tumors, and tuberculosis. Conclusion: For its possible association with exposure to hydrocarbons, it is a priority to start the intercultural study of lymphadenopathies in indigenous communities potentially exposed to crude oil.

ABSTRACT Introduction: This paper shows the description of the methods used to obtain doped lead-free KNN piezoceramics: (K0.5Na0.5)0.95La0.05(Nb0.9Ti0.05)O2.9 and (K0.44Na0.52Li0.04)0.97La0.01Nb0.9Ta0.103 piezoceramics, and their physical characterization. The objective was to achieve a reproducible obtaining method that will promote good physicochemical properties in the systems used and to use new dopants such as Ti, with a lower price in the market, and La, not studied yet in the literature consulted, to modify and control their physicochemical properties. Methods: A combined method of grain growth reaction is used, to obtain the precursor NaNbO3 and from this we make it react in solid state with the other reactants, thus simplifying existent methods, and the characterization: dielectric, phase transition, structural characterizations by X-ray diffraction and piezoforce microscopy (PFM). Results: The photo-luminescence piezoceramics doped with La and Ti show a good power emission of blue light. In both compositions presented, the doping with the La cation regulates the grain growth, modifies dielectric properties, and lowers transition temperatures. In the KNN compound doped with Li-La-Ta, the phase coexistence at room temperature and good dielectric properties and a certain anisotropy in the orientation of the domains are obtained. The experimental results carried out by PFM demonstrate excellent piezoelectric constants def = 166 pCN-1 compared to the best PZT ceramics. Conclusions: the results presented favor their potential use as ferroelectric light emitters, as well as lead-free transducers. Neither composition has been internationally accredited yet.

RESUMEN Introducción: El presente trabajo, muestra la descripción de los métodos de obtención empleados para lograr piezocerámicas libres de plomo KNN dopadas: (K0.5Na0.5)0.95La0.05(Nb0.9Ti0.05)O2.9 y (K0.44Na0.52Li0.04)0.97La0.01Nb0.9Ta0.103 y la caracterización física de estos. El objetivo fue adquirir un método de obtención reproducible que propiciará buenas propiedades físico-químicas en los sistemas empleados y emplear nuevos dopantes como el Ti, de un menor precio en el mercado, y el La, no trabajados hasta el momento en la literatura consultada, para modificar y controlar sus propiedades físico-químicas. Métodos: Se emplea un método combinado de reacción del crecimiento del grano, (RTGG), para la obtención del precursor NaNbO3 y partiendo de éste lo hacemos reaccionar mediante estado sólido con los demás reactivos simplificando métodos existentes, y la caracterización: dieléctrica, transiciones de fases, caracterización estructural por Difracción de rayos X, y microscopia de piezofuerza (PFM). Resultados: Se obtienen piezocerámicas dopadas con Ti-La, fotoluminicentes con buena potencia de emisión de luz azul y piezoeléctricas KNN dopadas Li- La-Ta. En ambas composiciones presentadas; el dopar con La, se regula el crecimiento del grano y modifica las propiedades dieléctricas y hace disminuir las temperaturas de transición. En el compuesto KNN dopado con Li-La-Ta se obtiene coexistencia de fases a temperatura ambiente y buenas propiedades dieléctricas y cierta anisotropía en la orientación de los dominios. Los resultados experimentales realizados por (PFM), demuestran excelentes constantes piezoeléctricas def = 166 pCN-1 comparados con las mejores cerámicas PZT. Conclusiones: los resultados presentados potencian la utilización de éstos como emisores de luz ferroeléctricos, así como transductores libres de plomo. Ambas composiciones, aún no se han homologado internacionalmente.

ABSTRACT Introduction: To achieve high levels of quality production with efficient use of raw materials, industries must have fault diagnosis systems for processing and analyzing the information obtained through data acquisition and control systems. The performance of fault diagnosis systems is affected by noise, information loss in the data acquisition process, the presence of unknown faults, and in the case of multi-mode processes, the occurrence of faults during transitions between stationary modes. The latter problem derives from the fact that diagnostic methods developed for stationary modes cannot be applied satisfactorily during transitions. Methods: In the present paper, a group of new paradigms is presented to provide solutions to the above-mentioned problems through the effective use of data-driven methods, clustering, imputation, hybrid algorithms, and computational intelligence tools. The proposals are validated in benchmark problems established as study cases in the scientific literature representing chemical processes, electromechanical systems, and urban water distribution networks. Results: Besides demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposals, the set of benchmark processes considered is very important for our country in its prospects for development, saving and caring of the environment.

RESUMEN Introducción: Para lograr elevados niveles de producción con calidad y con una utilización eficiente de la materia prima, las industrias deben tener instalados sistemas de diagnóstico de fallos procesando la información obtenida por los sistemas de adquisición de datos y control. El funcionamiento de estos sistemas se ve afectado por el ruido, la pérdida de información en los canales de comunicación, la presencia de fallos no conocidos para el sistema de diagnóstico y en el caso de los sistemas de múltiples modos de operación, por los fallos que se producen en las transiciones entre modos estacionarios ya que los métodos de diagnóstico desarrollados para estos modos donde las variables mantienen valores estacionarios no son satisfactorios para la transición. Métodos: En el presente trabajo se presentan un grupo de nuevos paradigmas con propuestas de soluciones a estas problemáticas utilizando de manera efectiva herramientas de agrupamiento, algoritmos híbridos, métodos Kernel, manejo de datos, imputación y otras provenientes de la inteligencia computacional. Las propuestas realizadas son validadas con problemas de pruebas que son casos de estudio establecidos en la literatura científica que representan procesos químicos, sistemas electromecánicos y redes urbanas de distribución de agua. Resultados: Muestran la efectividad de las mismas y la posibilidad de que puedan aplicarse a procesos de diferentes tipos muy importantes para nuestro país en sus perspectivas de desarrollo, ahorro y cuidado del medio ambiente.

RESUMEN Actualmente, los ecosistemas enfrentan una gran pérdida de biodiversidad debido a perturbaciones antrópicas, lo cual que tiene efectos negativos en los procesos ecológicos. Para conocer el estado de conservación de un ambiente se pueden determinar especies indicadoras, que desempeñan un rol importante en distintos procesos ecológicos y son sensibles a los disturbios. El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la diversidad y composición de aves en respuesta a diferentes perturbaciones del hábitat en el ejido Laguna Om, Quintana Roo, México, mediante conteo por puntos de agosto a septiembre de 2017. Se seleccionaron hábitats con diferente estado de conservación denominados: Selva, Laguna, Carretera, Potrero y Helechal. La mayor riqueza de especies se registró en los hábitats de Laguna y Carretera. Los patrones de abundancia de especies tolerantes a la perturbación fueron mayores en las áreas perturbadas. Encontramos mayor similitud en la composición de los gremios tróficos de las especies entre Laguna y Selva, y entre Helechal y Carretera, mientras que la composición en Potrero no mostró similitudes respecto a los otros hábitats. La diversidad y la composición de las especies de aves dependen de la complejidad estructural a nivel de hábitat, más que el tipo de perturbación que se asocia localmente.

ABSTRACT Currently, ecosystems face a great loss of biodiversity due to human disturbances, which has negative effects on ecological processes. To know the state of conservation of an environment, indicator species can be identified, which play an important role in different ecological processes and are sensitive to disturbances. The objective of this study was to determine the diversity of birds in response to different habitat disturbances in the ejido Laguna Om, Quintana Roo, Mexico, by means of counting by points from August to September 2017. We selected sites with different conservation status: Tropical Forest, Lagoon, Road, Pasture, and Invasive Fern habitat. In total 103 species of birds were recorded. We found a greater richness of species in Lagoon and the Road. The abundance patterns of species tolerant to disturbance was greater in disturbed areas. We found greater similarity in the trophic guilds composition shared between the Lagoon and the Tropical Forest, and in those shared between the Invasive Fern habitat and the Road, while the composition in the Pasture did not show similarities with respect to the other habitats. Bird species diversity and composition depend on the structural complexity at the habitat level, rather than the type of disturbance that is associated locally.

ABSTRACT Cerebral toxoplasmosis or neurotoxoplasmosis is one of the most common opportunistic infections in HIV-positive patients. It occurs in approximately 10 % of untreated AIDS patients. The location of the infection, caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii, indicates severe immunodeficiency, with CD4+ T lymphocytes less than 100 cell/mm3. The objective of this work was to describe the clinical and imaging evolution of a patient with diagnosis of neurotoxoplasmosis, attended at the Military Hospital Dr. Carlos J. Finlay: 33-year-old man, with focal neurological symptoms, without vascular risk factor, with studies of suggestive imaging of intracranial expansive process. During admission, the HIV positive result is received and interpreted as a neurotoxoplasmosis. Antiparasitic treatment was used with improvement of neurological disorder and neuroimagens. In the case of a patient with HIV and focal neurological symptoms doctors should think about neurotoxoplasmosis. The response to treatment in the case studied confirmed the diagnosis.

RESUMEN La toxoplasmosis cerebral o neurotoxoplasmosis es una de las infecciones oportunistas más frecuentes en los pacientes positivos al VIH. Se produce aproximadamente en el 10 % de los pacientes con sida no tratados. La localización de la infección, causada por el parásito Toxoplasma gondii, indica inmunodeficiencia severa, con linfocitos T CD4+ menor a 100 cel/mm3. El objetivo de este trabajo fue describir la evolución clínica e imagenológica de un paciente con diagnóstico de neurotoxoplasmosis, atendido en el Hospital Militar Dr. Carlos J. Finlay: hombre de 33 años, con síntomas neurológicos focales, sin factor de riesgo vascular, con estudios de imagen sugestiva de proceso expansivo intracraneal. Durante su ingreso se recibe el resultado de positivo al VIH y se interpreta como una neurotoxoplasmosis. Se empleó tratamiento antiparasitario con mejoría del trastorno neurológico y de las neuroimágenes. Ante un paciente con VIH y síntomas neurológicos focales se debe pensar en una neurotoxoplasmosis. La respuesta al tratamiento en el caso estudiado confirmó el diagnóstico.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease constitutes a health problem in Cuba and the world, its prognosis is related to several factors. Objective: To characterize a series of hospitalized patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, according to age, sex, phenotype, smoking habit and comorbid diseases. Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out that included the 296 patients who were admitted to the Internal Medicine Service of the Central Military Hospital Dr. Carlos J. Finlay with the diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in the period of two years. Comorbid diseases were determined, the phenotype given by the clinical presentation of the patients (A, B, C and D); age, sex, smoking habit, time and amount of smoking. The Charlson comorbidity index was used to assess the associated comorbidity in COPD. Results: 54% of the patients were male, 96,9% older than 50 years, 36,1% phenotype C, and 76,6% smokers. Hypertension was more frequent in phenotypes B, C and D, in more than 70%, diabetes mellitus in 73,7% of phenotype B, and ischemic heart disease in 61,7% of phenotype D. Conclusions: Most of the patients studied were male, older than 50 years, smokers for more than 10 years and phenotype C. The most frequent comorbid diseases were arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus and ischemic heart disease.

RESUMEN Introducción: La enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica constituye un problema de salud en Cuba y el mundo; su pronóstico está en relación con varios factores. Objetivo: Caracterizar a una serie de pacientes hospitalizados con enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica, según edad, sexo, fenotipo, hábito de fumar y enfermedades comórbidas. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal que incluyó a los 296 pacientes que ingresaron en el Servicio de Medicina Interna del Hospital Militar Central “Dr. Carlos J. Finlay” con el diagnóstico de enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica, en el período de dos años. Se determinaron las enfermedades comórbidas, el fenotipo dado por la forma clínica de presentación de los pacientes (A, B, C y D); la edad, sexo, hábito de fumar, tiempo y cantidad que fuma. Se utilizó el índice de comorbilidad de Charlson, para valorar la comorbilidad asociada en la enfermedad. Resultados: El 54 % de los pacientes fueron masculinos, el 96,9 % mayor de 50 años, el 36,1 % del fenotipo C y el 76,6 % fumadores. La hipertensión arterial fue más frecuente en los fenotipos B, C y D, en más del 70 %, la diabetes mellitus en el 73,7 % del fenotipo B y la cardiopatía isquémica en el 61,7 % del fenotipo D. Conclusiones: La mayoría de los pacientes estudiados fueron masculinos, mayores de 50 años, fumadores por más de 10 años y del fenotipo C. Las enfermedades comórbidas más frecuentes fueron la hipertensión arterial, la diabetes mellitus y la cardiopatía isquémica.

Abstract Nickel-aluminum bronze (NAB) alloys are suitable, in cast condition, to be used in marine propellers due to its excellent behavior avoiding erosion and cavitation as well as corrosion. A complex microstructure, intrinsic to this copper base system, is the result of a well-controlled chemical composition. There are few works related to the effect of adding small quantities of specific chemical elements on NAB alloys properties. The aim of this paper is to study the effect of Ti on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion behavior of a particular NAB alloy, CuAl10Fe5Ni5 (C95500), and the comparison to the Ti-free NAB alloy. Although the as- cast microstructure is very similar for both materials, the addition of only 120 ppm Ti leads to a significant grain refinement that plays a key role on the mechanical properties. It has been observed an increase in both microhardness and nanohardness as well as in the resultant Young moduli values, meanwhile no significant impact on the corrosion susceptibility has been observed.

ABSTRACT Introduction: The differential diagnosis of an intracavitary mass includes normal variants, thrombi, vegetations and neoplasms. Primary cardiac tumors are rare, with an incidence ranging from 0.0017% to 0.28% and metastases appear in 1.5% to 20.6% of necropsies in neoplastic patients. Objective: To present a patient with a right ventricular and right lung apex mass diagnosed with cardiac rhabdomyosarcoma with pulmonary metastases. Clinical case: A 46-year-old female patient with no previous illness or toxic habits was admitted to the Internal Medicine Service of Military Hospital Dr. Carlos J. Finlay due to lack of air and dyspeptic symptoms. Torpid evolution in 48 days with progression of dyspnea associated with hypotension and tachycardia. Initial suspicion of pulmonary thromboeembolism and then neoplastic, intracavitary or pulmonary disease. Conclusions: Cardiac rhabdomyosarcoma is rare and characterized by rapid growth leading to death within weeks or months from the time of clinical presentation.

RESUMEN Introducción: El diagnóstico diferencial de una masa intracavitaria incluye las variantes normales, los trombos, las vegetaciones y las neoplasias. Los tumores cardíacos primarios son poco frecuentes, con una incidencia que varía del 0,0017 % al 0,28 % y las metástasis aparecen entre el 1,5 % al 20,6 % de las necropsias de los enfermos neoplásicos. Objetivo: Presentar una paciente con masa en ventrículo derecho y vértice pulmonar derecho, con diagnóstico de rabdomiosarcoma cardíaco con metástasis pulmonar. Caso clínico: Paciente femenina de 46 años sin enfermedad previa ni hábitos tóxicos, que ingresa en el servicio de Medicina Interna del Hospital Militar “Dr. Carlos J. Finlay”, por falta de aire y síntomas dispépticos. Evoluciona de forma tórpida en 48 días, con progresión de la disnea, asociada a hipotensión y taquicardia. Hubo una sospecha inicial de tromboeembolismo pulmonar y luego de enfermedad neoplásica, intracavitaria o pulmonar. Conclusiones: El rabdomiosarcoma cardíaco es poco frecuente y se caracteriza por su crecimiento rápido que conduce a la muerte en semanas o meses, a partir del momento de su presentación clínica.

Resumen Capsicum chinense Jacq. “ají mochero” es catalogado como patrimonio gastronómico de Perú por su agradable grado de picor, que condimenta numerosos platos reconocidos internacionalmente. El boom gastronómico en Perú ha conllevado a la exportación de diferentes insumos nacionales, incluyendo el ají mochero, por lo que se requieren estudios agronómicos que brinden información sobre el estado productivo de los frutos y las semillas de este cultivo. El estudio buscó determinar la morfometría de los frutos y las semillas de C. chinense “ají mochero”. Para ello, se recolectaron frutos procedentes del distrito de Moche (provincia de Trujillo, departamento de La Libertad) y en el laboratorio se evaluó el peso del fruto y de la pulpa, así como las dimensiones y el número de semillas. Se realizó un análisis estadístico descriptivo con 50 repeticiones por cada componente evaluado. El peso promedio del fruto fue de 2,4 g y el peso promedio de la pulpa, de 2,1 g. La semilla registró una longitud promedio de 4,3 mm y un ancho promedio de 1,4 mm, y se reportaron 16,4 semillas por fruto. Se identificó un alto coeficiente de variación y una alta correlación (p < 0,01) entre los parámetros evaluados. Se concluyó que la morfometría de los frutos y las semillas de C. chinense “ají mochero” permite diferenciar esta de otras especies y variedades como C. annuum, C. baccatum, C. frutescens y C. pubescens. Esta información es primordial para promover su industrialización y fundamentar su denominación de origen.

Abstract Capsicum chinense Jacq. “aji mochero” is cataloged a gastronomic heritage for its pleasant spicy or pungency degree that flavors many internationally recognized Peruvian dishes. The gastronomic boom in Peru has led to the export of many national inputs, including ají mochero. Therefore, many basic agronomic studies that provide information on the productive state of fruits and seeds of this crop are necessary. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to determine the morphometry of fruits and seeds of “ají mochero” C. chinense. For this, fruits from the Moche district, province of Trujillo, department of La Libertad were collected; in the laboratory, the weight of the fruit and pulp were evaluated, in addition to the length, width and number of seeds. A descriptive statistical analysis was performed with 50 repetitions for each component evaluated. The average fruit weight is 2.4 g and the average pulp weight is 2.1 g. The seed has an average length of 4.3 mm, and an average width of 1.4 mm. An average of 16.4 seeds per fruit were recorded. A high coefficient of variation and a high correlation (p < 0.01) were found between the evaluated parameters. It is concluded that the morphometry of fruits and seeds of “ají mochero” C. chinense differentiates it from other species and varieties such as C. annuum, C. baccatum, C. frutescens, and C. pubescens. This information is essential to promote its industrialization and support its designation of origin.
