Para compreender melhor a percepção de desgoverno e o sentimento de desamparo que se alastraram no Brasil sob a Covid-19, este artigo examina dois momentos históricos relativos à interface peste-desamparo, das perspectivas psicanalítica e política. O primeiro momento trata do entrelaçamento entre vida e obra de Freud e culmina com sua experiência com a pandemia da gripe espanhola, em 1920; o segundo, trabalha a forma pela qual estamos lidando com o advento da pandemia do coronavírus, desde março de 2020, que — até o momento em que escrevo este artigo (janeiro de 2022) — matou mais de 600 mil brasileiros e trouxe o luto para mais de cinco milhões de famílias no mundo. A hipótese deste trabalho assevera que o sentimento de desamparo que estamos vivenciando desvela o negacionismo e o desgoverno que, inclusive, põem em xeque o estado democrático de direito no país.

Resumos To better understand the widespread perception of misgovernment and helplessness in Brazil during the COVID-19 pandemic, this article examines two historic moments referring to the interface between plague and helplessness, from the psychoanalytic and political perspectives. Firstly, it addresses the intertwining between Freud’s life and work, culminating with his experience during the Spanish flu pandemic, in 1920. Secondly, it analyses the measures put in place to combat the coronavirus pandemic, since March 2020, which — until the moment I am writing this article (January 2022) — killed more than 600,000 Brazilians and left more than five million families around the world in mourning. This paper asserts that the feeling of helplessness unveils a state of denialism and misgovernment, which calls into question the Brazilian rule of law.

Para comprender mejor la percepción del desgobierno y del sentimiento de desamparo en Brasil durante la crisis del Covid-19, este artículo examina dos momentos históricos relacionados con la interfaz peste-desamparo, desde un punto de vista psicoanalítico y político. El primer momento trata del entrelazamiento entre la vida y la obra de Freud y culmina con su experiencia con la pandemia de gripe española en 1920. El segundo momento se refiere a la forma en que estamos lidiando con el advenimiento de la pandemia de Coronavirus desde marzo de 2020 que, al momento de redactar este artículo (enero de 2022), ha causado más de 600.000 víctimas brasileñas y dejado más de cinco millones de familias en todo el mundo. Este ensayo se basa en el supuesto de que el sentimiento de desamparo que experimentamos se debe a la negación del Covid y al desgobierno. Además, estas dos razones han representado una amenaza para el estado de derecho y la democracia en Brasil.

Pour mieux comprendre la perception répandue de la mauvaise administartion et de l’impuissance au Brésil pendant la pandémie de Covid-19, cet article examine deux moments historiques liés à l’interface peste-impuissance, du point de vue psychanalytique et politique. Premièrement, il traite de l’imbrication entre la vie et l’œuvre de Freud, qui culmine avec son expérience pendant la pandémie de grippe espagnole en 1920. Deuxièmement, il analyse les mesures misen en place pour combattre la pandémie du coronavirus, depuis mars 2020, qui — jusqu’au moment de la rédaction de cet article (janvier 2022) — a fait plus de 600 000 victimes brésiliennes et endeuillé plus de cinq millions de familles dans le monde. Cet essai affirme que le sentiment d’impuissance dévoile un état de négationnisme et de mauvaise gouvernance, qui remet en question l’État de droit et la démocratie au Brésil.

RESUMO Objetivo Analisar o índice de desvantagem vocal para o canto de coristas idosos e verificar a sua relação com perfil, hábitos e condições de saúde dos participantes. Método Foram incluídos 110 indivíduos com 60 anos ou mais, participantes de coros amadores. Os coristas foram entrevistados a fim de verificar dados como idade, tempo de canto coral, classificação vocal e a presença de hábitos e condições de saúde adversas à produção vocal. Posteriormente, responderam o questionário “Índice de Desvantagem Vocal para o Canto (IDV-C)” que avalia a autopercepção do indivíduo em relação às experiências no uso da voz cantada. Resultados O escore do IDV-C teve uma mediana de 25, sendo a pontuação mínima 0 e a máxima 86. Os itens mais pontuados estavam relacionados aos aspectos físicos no uso da voz cantada: “Não consigo cantar agudo” (Q10) e “Minha garganta fica seca quando canto” (Q13). Verificou-se que os idosos com mais de 75 anos apresentaram maior desvantagem vocal para o canto ao comparar com os mais jovens (p=0,020). As coristas classificadas como contralto também apresentaram maior escore do IDV-C (p=0,023), assim como os indivíduos que relataram beber pouca água (p=0,007). Conclusão Os coristas deste estudo apresentaram um índice de desvantagem vocal para o canto compatível com vozes saudáveis para o canto. Ao verificar a relação do escore do IDV-C com as características dos participantes e a respeito dos hábitos e condições de saúde, constatou-se que os coristas idosos com mais de 75 anos, as coristas contralto e aqueles que afirmaram beber pouca água apresentaram escores maiores de desvantagem vocal para o canto.

ABSTRACT Purpose To analyze the singing voice handicap index in elderly choristers and verify its relationship with the profile, habits and health conditions of the participants. Methods 110 individuals aged 60 years or older, participating in amateur choirs, were included. Choir singers were interviewed in order to verify data such as age, time in choir singing, vocal classification, and the presence of habits and health conditions adverse to voice production. Subsequently, they answered the questionnaire “Singing Voice Handicap Index (SVHI)”, which assesses the individual's self-perception in relation to experiences in the use of the singing voice. Results The SVHI score had a median of 25, with a minimum score of 0 and a maximum score of 86. The most scored items were related to physical aspects in the use of singing voice: “I am unable to use my ‘high voice’” (Q10) and “My throat is dry when I sing”(Q13). It was found that older adults over 75 years of age had a greater voice handicap when compared to younger ones (p=0.020). Choir singers classified as contralto also had a higher SVHI score (p=0.023), as well as individuals who reported drinking little water (p=0.007). Conclusion The choristers in this study presented a singing voice handicap index compatible with healthy singing voices. When verifying the relationship of the SVHI score with the characteristics of the participants and with respect to habits and health conditions, it was found that the elderly choir singers over 75 years old, the contralto choir singers, and those who claimed to drink little water had higher scores for the singing voice handicap.

ABSTRACT. Signal grass (Urochloa decumbens) and guinea grass (Megathyrsus maximus) are African grasses that are well established in the Brazilian Savannah and we tested their adaptation to different light intensity. Plants were grown for 45 days under 0% shade (full sun) and 25, 40, and 80% induced shade to evaluate their photosynthetic performance. Light curves showed higher values of electron transport rate, photochemical quenching, and effective quantum yield in plants subjected to 0 and 25% shade for signal grass and in 25 and 40% shade for guinea grass. The potential quantum yield evaluations revealed that signal grass felt the effects of excessive light around 11:30 am on plants subjected to 0 and 25% shade. Conversely, guinea grass showed these photoinhibition effects at the same shade level but in a longer time range (9:30 am to 1:30 pm). As shade increased, there was a reduction tendency of the pigment content in signal grass and the opposite was observed for guinea grass. Stomatal conductance showed different values during the day and among different shade levels and there were no differences in relative water content between treatments and species. Results indicated better photosynthetic performance for signal grass under high intensity and better photosynthetic performance for guinea grass subjected to intermediate and higher levels of shade. Altogether, the results indicate that guinea grass seems to be a more appropriate choice for silvopasture systems.

Resumo Introdução Alguns modelos experimentais têm sido usados para avaliar o uso de biomateriais na regeneração óssea. Entre eles estão os defeitos de tamanho crítico (DTC) criados em calvárias de ratos. Um modelo experimental foi descrito na literatura onde marcações em L são realizadas nas margens do defeito ósseo para auxiliar na identificação precisa desses defeitos durante o processamento laboratorial e análise dos resultados. No modelo experimental proposto, as marcações em “L” são preenchidas com amálgama. Objetivo Avaliar a substituição do amálgama por ionômero de vidro aquecido ou não em um modelo experimental para identificação de defeito ósseo criado em calvária de ratos. Material e método Foram utilizados 24 ratos. Um DTC de 5 mm de diâmetro foi criado na calvária de cada animal. Duas marcações em “L” foram realizadas a 2 mm das margens do defeito ósseo, preenchidas com amálgama (Grupo AM), ionômero de vidro aquecido (Grupo CIVaq) ou não (Grupo CIV). Os animais foram eutanasiados aos 15 dias pós-operatórios. A área do defeito cirúrgico e das marcações em “L” foram histomorfometricamente avaliadas e os dados estatisticamente analisados (p<0,05). Resultado Não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os grupos experimentais para as análises metodológicas, clínicas ou histomorfométrica realizadas. Conclusão Dentro dos limites deste estudo, pode-se concluir que CIV pode substituir o AM no modelo experimental proposto e o aquecimento do CIV não promoveu benefícios adicionais.

Abstract Introduction Some experimental models have been used to evaluate the use of biomaterials in bone regeneration. Among them are the critical size defects (CSD) created in rat calvaria. An experimental model has been described in the literature, in which “L” markings are performed on the margins of the bone defects in order to assist in the precise identification of these defects during laboratory processing and analysis of the results. In the proposed model, the “L” markings are filled with amalgam. Objective The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the amalgam replacement of an experimental bony defect model in rat calvaria by heated or unheated glass ionomer. Material and method 24 rats were used. A 5 mm CSD was created at each animal calvaria. Two “L” shaped markings were made 2 mm from the margins of the bone defect, filled with amalgam (Group AM), heated glass ionomer cement (Group GIh) or not (Group GI). The animals were euthanized 15 days postoperatively. The areas of the surgical defect and the L-shaped marking were histomorphometrically analyzed and the data were analyzed statistically (p <0.05). Result There were no significant clinical, histological or methodological differences among the experimental groups. Conclusion It can be concluded that GI can replace AM in the proposed experimental model and GI heating did not promote additional benefits.

ABSTRACT The increase in the exploitation of raw materials in the civil construction sector has led to an increase in damage to the environment, mainly due to the improper disposal of granitic waste. However, this fact has caused damage to the environment. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the influence of the introduction of granite waste in a clay matrix aiming its use in the red ceramic industry. For this, the clay from the ceramic pole in the city of Iranduba - AM and granite waste from a company located in the municipality of Presidente Figueiredo - AM were collected. Formulations were made containing three levels of waste (0, 10 and 20% mass) and three firing temperatures (1173, 1273 and 1373K). The materials were characterized by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and the following technological properties were determined: water absorption; linear retraction; apparent porosity; specific mass; and 3-point flexural rupture module. The results showed that the glassy phases generated provide a better densification of the formulations with 20% of waste, sintered at 1373K, as they presented favorable mechanical properties for the manufacture of red ceramic products, providing a correct destination of the waste and providing alternatives for the social, economic context and environmental impact of the Amazon region.

Abstract: Pteridium is a cosmopolitan genus of ferns that possess nectaries on its fronds (fern leaves), thereby attracting ants. Foliar (or extrafloral) nectaries are nectar-producing glands that are not related to pollination, but rather attract ants and other arthropods. Foliar nectaries are found in 101 fern species, belonging to 11 genera and six families. The aim of the study is to characterize the community of ants that visit the fronds of Pteridium esculentum subsp. arachnoideum, as well as daily and seasonal ant abundance in different frond development stages. The study was conducted in the Atlantic Forest of Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. Bimonthly collections were established, where 30 expanding fronds and 30 fully expanded fronds were randomly marked. In each 1-hour shift starting at 8:30 am and ending at 5:30 pm, the fronds were observed for the presence of ants. Thirty three ant species were recorded on the Pteridium esculentum subsp. arachnoideum fronds, distributed into six subfamilies and 13 genera. The most abundant species were Solenopsis sp.1 and Ectatomma tuberculatum. Eight ant species were observed foraging the nectaries of tropical bracken fern fronds. Ectatomma tuberculatum has been observed feeding on the nectaries and patrolling the fronds. Ant activity peak was on mid-day during the rainy season. The tropical bracken fern Pteridium esculentum subsp. arachnoideum has a rich (the highest recorded until now on Pteridium species) and diverse ant community on its fronds, mainly on the expanding fronds. The presence of generalist predatory ants (Ectatomma tuberculatum and Solenopsis sp.1) during the entire study period suggests a positive interaction between ants and Pteridium esculentum subsp. arachnoideum.

Resumo: Pteridium é um gênero cosmopolita de samambaias que possui nectários em suas frondes (folhas de samambaias), atraindo formigas. Nectários foliares (ou extraflorais) são glândulas produtoras de néctar que não estão relacionadas com a polinização, mas podem atrair formigas e outros artrópodes. Nectários foliares já foram registrados em 101 espécies de samambaias, pertencentes a 11 gêneros e seis famílias. O objetivo do estudo é caracterizar a comunidade de formigas que visitam as frondes de Pteridium esculentum subsp. arachnoideum, bem como a abundância diária e sazonal das formigas em diferentes estágios foliares. O estudo foi realizado na Mata Atlântica do estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Foram estabelecidas coletas bimestrais, onde foram marcadas aleatoriamente 30 frondes em expansão e 30 frondes totalmente expandidas. Em cada turno de 1 hora com início às 8h30 e término às 17h30, as frondes marcadas foram observadas quanto à presença de formigas. Trinta e três espécies de formigas foram registradas nas frondes do Pteridium esculentum subsp. arachnoideum, distribuídas em seis subfamílias e 13 gêneros. As espécies mais abundantes foram Solenopsis sp.1 e Ectatomma tuberculatum. Foram registradas oito espécies de formigas forrageando os nectários foliares da samambaia. Ectatomma tuberculatum foi observada se alimentando nos nectários e patrulhando as frondes. As formigas tiveram o pico de atividade ao meio-dia e na estação chuvosa. A samambaia tropical Pteridium esculentum subsp. arachnoideum tem uma elevada riqueza (a maior já registrada até o momento para espécies de Pteridium) e diversidade de formigas em suas frondes, com maior frequência nas frondes não totalmente expandidas. A presença de formigas predadoras generalistas (Ectatomma tuberculatum e Solenopsis sp.1) durante todo o período de estudo sugere uma interação positiva entre as formigas e Pteridium esculentum subsp. arachnoideum.

RESUMO Introdução: Os acidentes de trabalho (AT) podem ter grande impacto no indivíduo, na sociedade e na economia. Os que têm risco biológico são particularmente frequentes em profissionais de saúde. A sua ocorrência não é homogénea e a análise dos padrões de ocorrência pode permitir uma melhor compreensão do problema. Objetivos: Caracterizar os padrões de incidência de AT com risco biológico, relacionando o dia da semana e hora de ocorrência, número de horas trabalhadas e a evolução ao longo dos anos. Metodologia: Análise retrospetiva dos AT com risco biológico num Centro Hospitalar da Região Centro de Portugal. Foram consultados os processos dos AT ocorridos entre 2015 e 2019, de acordo com: género, idade, categoria profissional, dia da semana, hora da ocorrência e número de horas trabalhadas até ao momento do acidente. Resultados: Entre 2015 e 2019 ocorreram 2213 AT, onde, 888 (40%) envolveram risco biológico. Destes, a idade média dos sinistrados foi de 38,81 +/- 10,44 anos, sendo que 80% (n=712) foram do sexo feminino. A categoria profissional mais acometida foi a dos enfermeiros com 48,4% (n=430) seguida dos médicos com 30,2% (n=268). O dia com maior número de eventos foi a segunda-feira (n=170), seguindo-se a quinta-feira (n=158). A mediana de horas trabalhadas até o acidente ocorrer foi quatro horas. Verificou-se ainda que o período da manhã foi o onde houve maior incidência de sinistros. Conclusão: A maioria dos AT com risco biológico ocorreu no período da manhã entre as dez e as doze horas da manhã, coincidindo com o horário em que há maior volume de trabalho e maior afluência de pessoas à instituição. Constatamos também uma diminuição de sinistros ao longo dos anos, que relacionamos com o papel do Serviço de Saúde Ocupacional na análise dos AT, formação e informação dos profissionais de saúde na definição e implementação de medidas corretivas.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Work accidents may have a great impact on the individual, society and economy. Work accidents with biological risk are especially frequent in healthcare professionals. Its occurrence is not homogeneous. The analysis of the patterns of its occurrence can aid to a better understanding of the issue. Objective: Characterize patterns of incidence of work accidents with biological risk, concerning weekday and hour of occurrence, number of hours worked and the evolution over the years. Methodology: A retrospective analysis of work accidents with biological risk was carried out in a Hospital Center in the Central Region of Portugal. Work accidents occurred between 2015 and 2019 were considered and analyzed according to gender, age, professional category, day of the week, hour of the day and number of hours worked until the occurrence. Results: Between 2015 and 2019 there were 2213 work accidents. Forty percent (888) involved biological risk. Of those, the average age of the victims was 38.81+/-10.44 years. Eighty percent 80% (n=712) were females. The most frequent professional category was nursing with 48.4% (n=430) followed by medical staff with 30.2% (n= 268). Work accidents occurred mostly on Monday (n=170), followed by Thursday (n=158). The median hours worked until the accident occurred was four hours. It was also found that the morning period had the highest incidence. Conclusion: Work accidents occurred mostly in the morning, between ten am and twelve pm. This could be explained by the greater volume of work and greater influx of people to the institution at this period. Moreover, we observed a decrease of work accidents over the years that might be explained by the role of the Occupational Health Department in analyzing accidents, training and informing health professionals in the definition and implementation of corrective measures.

RESUMO Neste estudo problematizamos a visão de criticidade em um livro didático de inglês para o primeiro ano do Ensino Médio, pertencente a uma coleção aprovada pelo Programa Nacional do Livro e Material Didático 2018 (PNLD) e apontamos formas de preencher lacunas em tal material através de sugestões para uma formação de professores realmente crítica e antirracista. Alinhadas a uma abordagem pedagógica de letramento queer (LIN, 2014) e de letramento crítico racial (FERREIRA, 2015a; 2015b), defendemos a posição de que uma prática problematizadora (PENNYCOOK, 2004) antirracista deva estar presente na formação dos professores de língua, além de manuais e orientações elaborados para os docentes de inglês. Neste sentido, a perspectiva de “crítico” por nós adotada procura motivar o questionamento e estranhamento (LIN, 2014) dos discursos naturalizados, levando-se em consideração questões de acesso, poder, diferença, desigualdade e resistência (PENNYCOOK, 2004). Analisamos a primeira unidade do livro, intitulada “Who am I?” e voltada para aspectos referentes à identidade, e a fundamentação teórica do material didático, juntamente com as orientações dadas aos/às professores(as) para a abordagem das atividades de tal unidade. As considerações que fazemos ao final da análise apontam para a necessidade de uma formação docente que possa complementar o material e, dessa forma, ir além das sugestões das autoras para, de fato, promover práticas pedagógicas antirracistas problematizadoras, através da reflexão sobre questões identitárias de caráter interseccional e decolonial, pois neste caso, e possivelmente em outros, as orientações elaboradas para os docentes no material didático não problematizam tais aspectos, sinalizando a ausência de questionamentos que levem à uma agenda transformadora.

ABSTRACT In this study we problematize the understanding of what is considered critical by the authors of a first grade of high school textbook approved by a committee for the distribution in Brazil. We also point ways of filling the gaps in said document. In line with a pedagogical approach towards queer literacy (LIN, 2014) and racial critical literacy (FERREIRA, 2015a, 2015b), we claim anti-racist problematizing practices (PENNYCOOK, 2004) must be included in language teachers’ education as well as in learning materials. Thus, our perspective on what is critical wishes to motivate questioning and “queering” (LIN, 2014) naturalized discourses considering relations of access, power, difference, inequality and resistance (PENNYCOOK, 2004). We analyzed the book’s unit named “Who am I?” which focuses on matters of identity, as well as the theoretical framework and guidelines for teachers. Our considerations point to the need for a curriculum that will fill in the gaps in learning materials for schools so teachers may go beyond the suggestions to actually promote anti-racist pedagogical practices, through reflecting about identity processes in an intersectional and decolonial perspective. In this case, and possibly others, the guidelines for teachers in the set do not problematize those aspects, which shows lack of questioning for a transformative agenda.

RESUMO O pensamento moderno ocidental se constitui em um sistema de distinções visíveis e invisíveis de separação social, cultural e epistêmica. São linhas abissais (SANTOS, 2007) que determinam categorizações hegemônicas de sujeito, raça, língua e conhecimento, as quais posicionam, do lado superior da linha, um ideal de homem moderno e, do lado inferior, formas subalternas e silenciadas de ser e estar no mundo. Com o objetivo de problematizar como o aluno negro migrante sofre com os efeitos das divisões abissais no espaço universitário e produz uma resposta a essas categorizações estabelecidas no contexto, neste trabalho, trago os relatos de um estudante haitiano, graduando em uma universidade pública brasileira. Jean, aprovado no curso de Bacharelado em Geografia, por meio de uma política de inclusão de migrantes refugiados e portadores de visto humanitário no ensino superior, narrou algumas experiências vividas no seu primeiro semestre da graduação. A partir de suas narrativas, recorro a uma perspectiva de Linguística Aplicada Crítica (MOITA LOPES; FABRÍCIO, 2019; PENNYCOOK, 2001; 2006) para tecer reflexões sobre linguagem, racialidade e decolonialidade, com base em estudos de Almeida (2019), Anya (2017), Carneiro (2005); Gomes (2005), Fanon (2008), Nascimento (2019) e Santos (2007). Discuto ainda como o conceito de raça, construído social, histórica, cultural e discursivamente (GOMES, 2005) e a racialização das identidades (ANYA, 2017) reproduzem linhas abissais em diferentes segmentos da vida do estudante no espaço universitário e delimitam divisões coloniais de fala e silenciamento, legitimidade e exclusão.

ABSTRACT Modern western thinking is a system of visible and invisible distinctions of social, cultural, and epistemic separation. These are abyssal lines (SANTOS, 2007) that determine hegemonic categorizations of subject, race, language, and knowledge, which position, on the upper side of the line, an ideal of modern man and, on the lower side, subordinate, and silent ways of being in the world. To problematize how the black migrant student suffers from the effects of the abyssal divisions in the university and produces a response to these categorizations established in the context, I bring narratives of a Haitian graduation student from a Brazilian public university. Jean, who was approved to study in the Geography Bachelor course through a special selection process for refugee students in higher education, narrated some experiences lived during his first semester in graduation. Based on his narratives, I resort to a Critical Applied Linguistics perspective (MOITA LOPES; FABRÍCIO, 2019; PENNYCOOK, 2001; 2006) to discuss reflections on language, raciality and decoloniality, based on Almeida (2019), Anya (2017), Carneiro (2005), Gomes (2005), Fanon (2008), Nascimento (2019) and Santos (2007). I also discuss how the concept of race, socially, historically, culturally and discursively constructed (GOMES, 2005) and the racialization of identities (ANYA, 2017) reproduce abysmal lines in different segments of the student’s life in the university, and define colonial divisions of speech and silence, legitimacy and exclusion.

Resumo Objetivos: investigar frequência e fatores associados ao aleitamento materno (AM) continuado. Métodos: estudo de coorte em Cruzeiro do Sul, Acre. Na maternidade, todas as parturientes de julho de 2015 a junho de 2016 foram convidadas à participação. Dados socioeconómicos, demográficos, obstétricos e neonatais dos bebês foram obtidos por entrevista. As razões de prevalência (RP) e intervalos com 95% de confiança (IC95%) foram estimados utilizando modelos múltiplos de regressão de Poisson com variância robusta. Resultados: dentre 1551 mães contatadas, 305 residiam em área rural, sendo elegíveis 1246 mães residentes em área urbana. No seguimento de 1 ano da coorte, 774 bebês não gemelares foram avaliados. A maioria das mães referiu ser de cor parda (79%o), maior de 21 anos (72%), >10 anos de escolaridade (72%) e não exercer atividade remunerada (54%). A idade dos bebês variou de 10 a 15 meses. A frequência do AM continuado foi de 69,4%o (IC950%= 66,0-72,6). Os fatores inversamente associados ao AM continuado foram uso de mamadeira (RP= 1,44; IC95% 1,33-1,57) e chupeta (RP= 2,55; IC95%= 1,99-3,28), após ajuste por idade materna e variáveis socioeconómicas. Conclusão: a frequência de AM continuado em Cruzeiro do Sul foi superior às estimativas nacionais, porém aquém das recomendações da OMS para amamentação até dois anos de idade.

Abstract Objectives: to investigate the factors associated with continued breastfeeding (BF). Methods: All the parturients at a local maternity from July 2015 to June 2016 were invited to participate in a cohort study in Cruzeiro do Sul, Acre. Data on socioeconomic, demographic, obstetric and neonatal of the babies were obtained for the interview. Multiple Poisson regression models with robust variance were used to estimate the prevalence ratio (PR) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Results: among the 1551 mothers contacted, 305 lived in the rural area, leaving 1,246 eligible mothers living in urban area. For the 1-year cohort follow-up, 74 non-twin babies were assessed. Most of the mothers reported to have mixed skin color (79%), are over 21 years old (72°%o), more than 10 years of schooling (72%>) and with unpaying job (54%). The children’s age ranged from 10 to 15 months. The frequency of continued breastfeeding was 69,4%> (95%oCI=66.0-72.6). The factors negatively associated with continued breastfeeding were the use of bottle feeding (PR=1.44; CI95%> =1,33-1.56) and pacifier (PR=2.54; CI95%> =1.98-3.27), after adjusting for maternal age and socioeconomic variables. Conclusion: the frequency of continued breastfeeding in Cruzeiro do Sul was higher than the national estimates, but below the WHO recommendations for breastfeeding up to two years of age.

Resumo Introdução O autismo é uma desordem neurológica complexa de causas multifatoriais, que compromete habilidades físicas, psicológicas, emocionais e sociais, podendo dificultar os cuidados com a saúde bucal. A saliva, que pode ser coletada de forma fácil e não invasiva, vem sendo utilizada para diagnóstico e triagem de várias condições e patologias. A capacidade antioxidante total nesse fluido está reduzida em crianças com cárie e tem sido investigada como possível marcador para essa doença, mas são escassas as informações sobre antioxidantes na saliva de crianças com o Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo (TEA). Objetivo O objetivo desse estudo preliminar foi verificar a influência do gênero na diferença da capacidade antioxidante e no dano oxidativo proteico, na saliva de crianças com TEA. Material e método A saliva total foi obtida por aspiração, entre 8:00 e 11:00 horas, de 12 meninas e 12 meninos com idades entre 5 e 15 anos, com diagnóstico prévio de TEA. A capacidade antioxidante total, o ácido úrico, a concentração total de proteínas e o dano oxidativo proteico foram analisados por espectrofotometria. Os valores de média e desvio padrão foram testados quanto à normalidade (Shapiro-Wilk teste) e comparados com o teste Mann Whitney. O nível de significância foi estabelecido em 5%. Resultado Nenhuma diferença significativa entre os grupos foi observada, nos parâmetros analisados (P>0,05). Conclusão Com base nos resultados obtidos, concluímos que o gênero não influencia nos níveis de marcadores do estresse oxidativo na saliva de crianças com TEA.

Abstract Introduction Autism is a complex neurological disorder with multifactorial causes, which compromises physical, psychological, emotional and social skills. This disorder also impairs dental care and patient oral health. Saliva can be easily obtained using a non-invasive technique and has been used in the diagnosis and screening of many pathologies. Total antioxidant capacity of saliva is reduced in the presence of caries in children and has been studied as a possible marker for autism. However, data on salivary antioxidants in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is scarce. Objective This preliminary study evaluated the existence of gender influence on non-enzymatic antioxidant capacity and protein oxidative damage in the saliva of children with this disorder. Our hypothesis is that there are gender differences in these biochemical parameters in children with austim. Material and method Whole saliva samples were collected by aspiration between 8:00-11:00 am from 12 girls and 12 boys aged 5 to 15 years, with previous diagnosis for this disorder. Total antioxidant capacity, uric acid, protein concentration and oxidative damage to proteins were analyzed by spectrophotometry. Values were presented as mean ± standard deviation and tested for adherence to normality (Shapiro-Wilk test). The data were then compared using the Mann-Whitney test, considering a 5% significance level. Result There was no significant difference between groups for all analyzed parameters (P>0.05). Conclusion Based on the results obtained, we concluded that gender does not influence the levels of oxidative stress markers in the saliva of children with ASD.

RESUMO A área de Comportamento Motor (CoM) investiga os processos neuropsicológicos da organização da resposta motora em termos de aprendizagem, controle e desenvolvimento motor, de onde emergiram. Este estudo teve como objetivo descrever a produção intelectual da área de Comportamento Motor (CoM), e as especificidades das suas subáreas de investigação denominadas Aprendizagem Motora (AM), Controle Motor (CM) e Desenvolvimento Motor (DM) produzidos pelos programas de Pós-graduação em Educação Física no ano de 2018. A produção intelectual nas subáreas do CoM foi organizada, por estrato, tipo de tarefa e aderência com os periódicos da área 21 da CAPES. Foram encontrados 53 artigos publicados por 51 pesquisadores. A distribuição dos artigos por subáreas foi representada por 30,18% AM, 54,72% CM e 15,10% DM. A subárea CM apresentou 86% de publicação dos artigos nos estratos superiores, a subárea AM com 37%, seguida da subárea DM com 13%. A média das três subáreas resultou em 83,02% de estudos com tarefa simples construída em laboratório e somente 16,98% com tarefa complexa. O maior número de publicações com baixa aderência aliado ao maior número de pesquisas com tarefas simples parece demonstrar a dificuldade dos pesquisadores de aproximar os conhecimentos produzidos na área de CoM com a formação de um corpo de conhecimento específico da Educação Física.

ABSTRACT Motor Behavior (MB) is the study of neuropsychological processes with regard to the motor response organization in terms of learning, control, and motor development. Three research sub-areas emerged from MB, that is, Motor Learning (ML), Motor Control (MC), and Motor Development (MD). The present study aimed at describing the intellectual production related to ML, MC and MD sub-areas in 2018, in addition to identifying the current profile of the MB area. The intellectual production of the MB sub-areas was organized according to stratum, type of task, and adherence to the journals of area 21 (CAPES). Fifty three articles on MB, published by 51 researchers, were found. All these studies were produced by the Graduate Programs of Physical Education in 2018. The distribution of the articles in sub-areas was represented as follows: 30.18% ML, 54.72% MC, and 15.10% MD. The MC sub-area had 86% of its articles published in the upper strata; the ML sub-area had 37%, followed by the MD sub-area with 13%. The average of the three sub-areas resulted in 83.02% of studies with simple tasks and only 16.98% with complex tasks. The greater number of publications with low adherence combined with the greater number of investigations with simple tasks seems to show the researchers' difficulty in approaching the knowledge produced in the MB area for undergraduate Physical Education students.

BACKGROUND Chagas disease, caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, affects nearly six million people worldwide. Various serological tests have been developed for its diagnosis. OBJECTIVE Examine the performance of a set of commercial immunological assays in relation to the geographical origin of the patient sample comparing four states of Brazil: Amazonas (AM), Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), Minas Gerais (MG) and Piauí (PI). METHODS Seven immunoassays were employed to detect anti-T. cruzi IgG antibodies in 379 patient samples that had been previously diagnosed using the two-step protocol required by the Brazilian Ministry of Health. FINDINGS A significant variation in the percent reactive was calculated for the samples from AM and MS, while the PI and MG showed a significant variation in the percent non-reactive. The average reactivity index was significantly higher for samples from the states of PI and MG states than AM and MS. MAIN CONCLUSIONS All tests presented a satisfactory performance overall. Yet, variations were observed that were associated to the region of origin of the samples. Our analyses suggest that future evaluations of immunoassays should include a sampling of sera from regions where the test will be applied in addition to the available International Biological Reference Standards.

SUMMARY: Mesenchymal stem cells are characterized by in vitro high proliferation and multilineage potential maintenance. This study aimed to isolate and characterize equine YS mesenchymal stem cells and compare these with amniotic membranes. The yolk sac (YS) and amniotic membranes (AM) were obtained from 20 pregnant mares with gestational age around 30 days. Cells were cultured in α-MEM supplemented with 15 % FBS, 1 % antibiotic solution, 1 % L-glutamine and 1 % nonessential amino acids. To cell characterization we used cytogenetic analysis, fibroblast colony-forming unit assays, cell growth curves, immunophenotyping, flow cytometry, differentiation assays and teratoma formation. Results: Both cell sources presented fibroblastoid and epithelioid-like format. The YS cells have lower colony formation potential then AM ones, 3 versus 8 colonies per 103 plated cells. However, YS cells grew progressively while AM cells showed steady. Both, the YS and amnion cells immunolabeled for Oct-4, Nanog, SSEA-3, cytokeratin 18, PCNA, and vimentin. In addition, presented mesenchymal, hematopoietic, endothelial and pluripotency markers in flow cytometry. Discussion: Both cell sources presented high plasticity and differed into osteogenic, adipogenic, and chondrogenic lineages, and no tumor formation in nude mice was observed. The results suggest that horse YS may be useful for cell therapy such as amnion-derived cells.

RESUMEN: Las células madre mesenquimales se caracterizan por una alta proliferación in vitro y un mantenimiento potencial de múltiples líneas. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo aislar y caracterizar las células madre mesenquimales del saco vitelino equinas y compararlas con las membranas amnióticas. Se obtuvo el saco vitelino (SV) y las membranas amnióticas (MA) de 20 yeguas preñadas con edad gestacional de aproximadamente 30 días. Las células se cultivaron en α -MEM suplementado con 15 % de FBS, 1 % de solución antibiótica, 1 % de L-glutamina y 1 % de aminoácidos no esenciales. Para la caracterización celular utilizamos análisis citogenéticos, ensayos de unidades de colonias de fibroblastos, curvas de crecimiento celular, inmunofenotipaje, citometría de flujo, ensayos de diferenciación y formación de teratomas. Ambas fuentes celulares presentaron formato fibroblastoideo y epitelioide. Las células SV tienen un potencial de formación de colonias más bajo que las de MA, 3 versus 8 colonias por 103 células en placa. Sin embargo, las células SV crecieron progresivamente mientras que las células MA se mostraron estables. Tanto las células YS como las células amnios están inmunomarcadas para Oct-4, Nanog, SSEA-3, citoqueratina 18, PCNA y vimentina. Además, presentó marcadores mesenquimales, hematopoyéticos, endoteliales y pluripotenciales en citometría de flujo. Ambas fuentes celulares presentaron alta plasticidad y diferían en linajes osteogénicos, adipogénicos y condrogénicos, y no se observó formación de tumores en ratones. Los resultados sugieren que el SV de caballo puede ser útil para la terapia celular, como las células derivadas de amnios.

Neste texto, discuto as transformações recentes no sistema socioeducativo e suas relações com as balanças de poder entre jovens e adolescentes com alianças faccionais, além de outros atores de mercados ilícitos em Alagoas. Retomo o problema da regulação/desregulação dos conflitos nas “periferias” em um contexto no qual a expansão do dinheiro e de redes criminais se entrelaçam à expansão da urbanização em pequenas e médias cidades do Norte-Nordeste. A partir de registros de campo em unidades de internação e entrevistas, dou destaque: a) à mudança na regulação dos conflitos nas cadeias e nas quebradas em Alagoas após o rompimento da “aliança” entre CV e PCC em 2016; e b) a necessidade de reavaliar alguns dos termos através dos quais as ciências sociais pensam o “popular” e as “periferias” em contexto de maior conexão entre mercados ilegais do Centro-Sul e do Norte-Nordeste do Brasil. Valho-me de uma abordagem figuracional.

Ce texte analyse les récentes transformations du système socioéducatif et ses relations avec les luttes pour le pouvoir entre jeunes et adolescents ralliés à des factions et à d’autres acteurs illicites de l’état d’Alagoas. Il se penche sur le problème de la régulation/dérégulation des conflits dans les « banlieues », et ce, dans un contexte où la prolifération de l’argent et des réseaux criminels va de pair avec l’augmentation de l’urbanisation des petites et moyennes villes du Nord-Nord-est du Brésil. Partant d’entretiens et d’enregistrements obtenus dans des établissements pénitenciers pour mineurs, l’objectif du travail est de montrer : a) le changement au niveau de la régulation des conflits dans les prisons et les quartiers chauds d’Alagoas après la rupture de l’« alliance » entre les factions du crime organisé PCC et CV en 2016 ; b) la nécessité de réévaluer certains termes utilisés par les sciences pour penser le « populaire » et les « banlieues » dans une situation de plus forte connexion entre les marchés illégaux du Centre-sud et du Nord-Nord-est du Brésil. Pour y parvenir, le travail se vaut d’une approche figurationnelle.
