Abstract: Introduction: Team-Based Learning (TBL) is a method widely used in the teaching of health promotion as it instigates the exercise of skills such as leadership, teamwork and decision-making. With the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a general need to adapt medical education to the remote environment. Thus, the objective of this article is to describe the experience of adapting a curricular component of Public Health to the online scenario, maintaining TBL as a teaching-learning methodology of health promotion, even during the pandemic. Experience Report: The method was applied through videoconferences and a platform with resources for the application of tests according to the TBL format. With the meetings, students developed essential skills about health promotion, such as salutogenesis, the illness metaphor during the process of getting sick, prevention and health education. Discussion: TBL develops students’ skills such as teamwork, leadership and dialogue. These competencies are prescribed in the National Curricular Guidelines for undergraduate medical training, and are essential in the practice of health promotion. Furthermore, the discipline promoted a salutogenic construction of the students’ capacities, developing skills based on their potential, just as in an operational group. Also, the application of TBL allowed the continued smooth teaching of health promotion despite the remote learning scenario, because this methodology encourages active learning and offers the possibility of applying the knowledge obtained in practical situations. The main limitations of the experience were difficulties encountered in accessing distance learning platforms, the limitations to non-verbal communication and the control over consultation materials during the execution of each stage. Conclusion: The adaptation of the TBL method to the remote scenario stimulated the practice of communicative and argumentative skills that are essential to the work with operative groups in the community and allowed students to apply the learned concepts in practical situations, despite the remote learning environment.

Resumo: Introdução: A Aprendizagem Baseada em Equipes (ABE) é um método muito utilizado no ensino da promoção de saúde, pois instiga o exercício de habilidades como a liderança, o trabalho em equipe e a tomada de decisões. Com a pandemia da Covid-19, houve a necessidade de adaptar o ensino médico para o âmbito remoto. Assim, o objetivo deste artigo é descrever a experiência de adaptação de um componente curricular de Saúde Coletiva ao ambiente on-line, mantendo a ABE como método de ensino-aprendizagem da promoção de saúde, mesmo em tempos de pandemia. Relato de experiência: A aplicação do método foi feita por meio de videoconferências e de uma plataforma com recursos para a aplicação dos testes conforme o formato da ABE. Com os encontros, os estudantes desenvolveram competências essenciais à promoção da saúde, como salutogênese, metáforas da enfermidade na experiência do adoecimento, prevenção de agravos e educação em saúde. Discussão: A ABE consegue desenvolver no estudante habilidades como o trabalho em equipe, a liderança e o diálogo. Essas competências são preconizadas pelas Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais durante a formação médica, além de serem essenciais na prática da promoção da saúde. Além disso, nota-se que o componente curricular promoveu uma construção salutogênica das capacidades dos alunos, desenvolvendo habilidades a partir das potencialidades dos estudantes, tal como em um grupo operativo. Ademais, a aplicação da ABE permitiu a continuidade do ensino de qualidade da promoção de saúde, mesmo em ambiente remoto, tendo em vista que essa metodologia estimula a aprendizagem ativa e oferece a possibilidade de aplicar os conhecimentos obtidos em situações práticas. As principais limitações da experiência foram as dificuldades de acesso às plataformas de ensino remoto, as restrições à comunicação não verbal e o controle sobre o acesso a materiais de consulta durante a execução de cada etapa. Conclusão: A adaptação da ABE ao ambiente remoto estimulou a prática de habilidades comunicativas e de argumentação que são essenciais à facilitação de grupos operativos na comunidade e permitiu que os estudantes aplicassem os conceitos aprendidos em situações práticas, apesar do ambiente remoto de ensino.

Abstract The Santos Basin (SB) is the main petroliferous basin in the Brazilian continental margin and one of the most studied marine areas in Brazil. However, historical data suggest that new efforts should be carried out to acquire quantitative biological data, especially in the deep sea, to establish the baseline of essential ocean variables in different ecosystems for future monitoring programs. The Brazilian energy company Petrobras planned and executed 24 oceanographic cruises over a period of 2 years to assess the benthic (SANSED cruise) and pelagic (SANAGU cruise) systems of the SB (356 days at sea in 2019 and 2021/2022). These efforts were part of the Santos Project, which comprised a comprehensive environmental study aimed at investigating benthic and pelagic variables to characterize ecology, biogeochemistry, thermohaline properties of water masses, and ocean circulation patterns, geomorphology, and sedimentology, as well as organic and inorganic chemistry. Here we present the detailed sampling designs and the field methods employed on board, during the SB scientific cruises. All sampling protocols were based on standardized approaches. For the benthos analyses, triplicate sediment samples were performed using a GOMEX-type box corer (0.25 m²) or a large modified Van Veen grab (0.75 m²) at 100 stations ranging from 25 to 2400 m depth. At each station, 25 geochemical and physico-chemical parameters were analyzed in addition to micro-, meio-, and macrofauna and living foraminifera samples. For the pelagic system, 60 stations were selected to investigate the plankton community, ranging in size from pico- to macroplankton, through vertical, horizontal, and oblique net hauls (20, 200, and 500 μm mesh size), as well as 25 biogeochemical parameters collected with an aid of a CTD-rosette sampler. Part of this scientific information also serves the Regional Environmental Characterization Project (PCR-BS) in support of Petrobras’ Santos Basin drilling licensing process led by the Brazilian Environmental Agency – IBAMA. This project contributes to the sustainable development of the SB, in line with the guidelines of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

RESUMO As Diretrizes Brasileiras para Reabilitação do AVC são fruto de um esforço conjunto do Departamento Científico de Reabilitação Neurológica da Academia Brasileira de Neurologia com o objetivo de orientar os profissionais envolvidos no processo de reabilitação para a redução da incapacidade funcional e aumento da autonomia dos indivíduos. Membros do grupo acima participaram de fóruns de discussão na web com pré-temas, seguidos de reuniões por videoconferência em que as controvérsias foram discutidas, levando a um consenso. Essas diretrizes, divididas em duas partes, focam as implicações de recentes ensaios clínicos, revisões sistemáticas e metanálises sobre reabilitação do AVC. O objetivo principal é servir de orientação a médicos, fisioterapeutas, fonoaudiólogos, terapeutas ocupacionais, enfermeiros, nutricionistas e demais profissionais envolvidos no cuidado pós-AVC. As recomendações e níveis de evidência foram adaptados de acordo com a literatura disponível atualmente. Aqui é apresentada a Parte I sobre tópicos de reabilitação na fase aguda, prevenção e tratamento de doenças e comorbidades frequentes após o AVC.

ABSTRACT The Guidelines for Stroke Rehabilitation are the result of a joint effort by the Scientific Department of Neurological Rehabilitation of the Brazilian Academy of Neurology aiming to guide professionals involved in the rehabilitation process to reduce functional disability and increase individual autonomy. Members of the group participated in web discussion forums with predefined themes, followed by videoconference meetings in which issues were discussed, leading to a consensus. These guidelines, divided into two parts, focus on the implications of recent clinical trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses in stroke rehabilitation literature. The main objective was to guide physicians, physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, nutritionists, and other professionals involved in post-stroke care. Recommendations and levels of evidence were adapted according to the currently available literature. Part I discusses topics on rehabilitation in the acute phase, as well as prevention and management of frequent conditions and comorbidities after stroke.

Resumo Neste presente estudo, objetivou-se avaliar as alterações induzidas pela infecção natural de Schistosoma mansoni nas concentrações de glicose do sangue periférico de roedores Holochilus sciureus, reservatório silvestre do parasito. A dosagem da concentração de glicose foi realizada no plasma de amostras de sangue por meio de teste enzimático colorimétrico. Parâmetros biológicos e carga parasitária de S. mansoni também foram verificados em cada roedor e correlacionados com as concentrações de glicose. Um total de 76 H. sciureus foram capturados, dentre os quais 20 (26%) estavam infectados por S. mansoni (n=13 machos e n=7 fêmeas). Apesar da carga parasitária ter sido semelhante entre os sexos, as concentrações de glicose no sangue foram menores em machos naturalmente infectados e quase inalteradas em fêmeas. Além disso, os dados histopatológicos mostraram uma maior reação inflamatória granulomatosa hepática em roedores machos, quando comparados com as fêmeas. Adicionalmente, também foi confirmado que o peso e o comprimento total dos animas analisados não interferiram nos valores de glicose. Portanto, a infecção natural por S. mansoni em H. sciureus pode induzir menos impacto na homeostase glicêmica em fêmeas, o que pode ajudar a melhor entender o papel desses roedores como reservatórios de S. mansoni.

Abstract The present study aimed to evaluate the changes in peripheral blood glucose concentrations induced by Schistosoma mansoni infection in Holochilus sciureus rodents, a wild reservoir of the parasite. Glucose concentration was measured in the plasma of blood samples using a colorimetric enzymatic test. Biological parameters and S. mansoni burden in each rodent were also verified and correlated with glucose concentrations. A total of 76 H. sciureus were captured, out of which 20 (26%) were infected with S. mansoni (n=13 males and n=7 females). Although the parasite burden was comparable between the sexes, blood glucose concentration was lower in infected males and almost unchanged in females. Furthermore, histopathological data revealed that male rodents had a greater hepatic granulomatous inflammatory reaction than females. In addition, we also confirmed that the weight and total length of the analyzed animals had no effect on glucose levels. Therefore, natural infection with S. mansoni in H. sciureus may have a lower impact on glycemic homeostasis in females, which will help us understand the role of these rodents as reservoirs of S. mansoni.

Resumo: Introdução: Com a pandemia da Covid-19, foi necessário adaptar o ensino da promoção da saúde para o ambiente on-line. Dessa forma, parte do componente curricular de Saúde Coletiva de uma universidade federal foi realizada em formato de rodas de conversa remotas. O objetivo deste artigo é relatar essa experiência de adaptação ao ambiente on-line, mantendo a coerência entre o aprendizado e a vivência da promoção da saúde durante a pandemia. Relato de experiência: A primeira unidade do componente curricular de Saúde Coletiva consistiu em quatro rodas de conversa sobre promoção da saúde, que foram realizadas em grupos de aproximadamente 15 estudantes. As sessões eram separadas em dois momentos: um assíncrono, de preparação individual, e um síncrono, de discussão em grupos. Assim, os alunos discutiram tópicos sobre a saúde mental e o estresse relacionado à pandemia, além de estratégias de autocuidado e de promoção da própria saúde. Ao final do encontro, cada grupo elaborava suas necessidades de aprendizagem para a próxima sessão. Discussão: As rodas de conversa são pautadas essencialmente no diálogo entre os participantes e permitem a criação de um espaço aberto de troca de narrativas. No caso da experiência relatada, as rodas de conversa foram organizadas de forma a ensinar não somente a promoção da saúde, mas também a promoção do autocuidado no contexto de pandemia. Observa-se, portanto, a coerência no processo de ensino e vivência da promoção da saúde, bem como a preocupação com o bem-estar dos alunos. As principais limitações da experiência foram as dificuldades de acesso às plataformas de ensino remoto e o controle da participação dos estudantes nas atividades, uma vez que foi dada aos alunos a liberdade de ligar ou não a câmera. Conclusão: A realização de rodas de conversa foi uma excelente alternativa para possibilitar a adaptação do componente curricular ao ambiente remoto. Por meio das sessões, os estudantes puderam compartilhar seus sentimentos em relação ao momento atípico vivenciado, além de aprenderem na prática acerca do funcionamento de grupos operativos.

Abstract: Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic led to the need to adapt the teaching of health promotion to the online environment. Therefore, part of the Public Health module of a federal university was executed in the form of remote conversation circles. The purpose of this article is to report this experience of adaptation to the online scenario, without losing compatibility between learning and exposure to the experience of health promotion during the pandemic. Experience report: The first unit of the Public Health module consisted of four conversation circles on health promotion, which were held in groups of approximately 15 students. The sessions were separated into two moments, one asynchronous, for individual preparation, and one synchronous, for group discussion. Thus, the students discussed topics about mental health and stress related to the pandemic, as well as self-care and health promotion strategies. At the end of the meeting, each group defined their learning needs for the next session. Discussion: The conversation circles are essentially based on the dialogue between the participants and allow the creation of an open space for the exchange of narratives. In the case of the reported experience, the conversation circles were organized in order to teach not only health promotion, but also the promotion of self-care in the context of a pandemic. Hence, the main goals of the module would be achieved, considering both learning and the experience with health promotion, without losing sight of the students’ wellbeing. The main limitations of the experience were the difficulties in access to remote teaching platforms and the control of students’ participation in activities, since they were given the choice to turn the camera on or off. Conclusion: We can conclude that the conversation circles constituted an excellent alternative method to enable the adaptation of the discipline to the remote environment. Through the sessions, the students were able to share their feelings about the atypical moment experienced, and to learn in practice the functioning of operative groups.

Objective: To analyze the prevalence and factors associated with polypharmacy inelderly people living in Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil, in 2014. Methods: Cross-sectionalpopulation-based study, verification by complex sampling, with elderly people.Polypharmacy was defined as the concomitant use of five or more drugs. Results: Theprevalence of polypharmacy was 14.9% (95%IC 11,8;18,6), positively associated withfemales (OR=2.29 – 95%CI 1.41;3.74), white skin color (OR=1.61 – 95%CI 1.10;2.38),dependence (OR=1.65 – 95%CI 1.05;2.60), change in eating habits/diet use (OR=1.66 –95%CI 1,16;2.36), hospitalization in the last 12 months (OR=1.61 – 95%CI 1.02;2.53)and presence of the following self-reported morbidities: systemic arterial hypertension(OR=2.40 – 95%CI 1.33;4.34), diabetes mellitus (OR=2.17 – 95%CI 1.23;3.84),osteoporosis (OR=2.92 – 95%CI 1.84;4.64) and problems (OR=2.94 – 95%CI1.90;4.56). Conclusion: The polypharmacy in the elderly found in this study wasassociated with demographic and health conditions.

Objetivo: Analisar a prevalência e os fatores associados à polifarmácia em idososresidentes em Rio Branco, Acre, Brasil, em 2014. Métodos: Estudo transversal de basepopulacional, obtido por amostragem complexa, com idosos. A polifarmácia foidefinida como o uso concomitante de cinco ou mais fármacos. Resultados: Aprevalência de polifarmácia foi de 14,9% (IC95% 11,8;18,6), associada positivamente aosexo feminino (OR=2,29 – IC95% 1,41;3,74), raça/cor da pele branca (OR=1,61 – IC95%1,10;2,38), dependência (OR=1,65 – IC95% 1,05;2,60), mudança de hábitos 3alimentares/uso de dieta (OR=1,66 – IC95% 1,16;2,36), internação nos últimos 12 meses(OR=1,61 – IC95% 1,02;2,53) e presença das seguintes morbidades autorreferidas:hipertensão arterial sistêmica (OR=2,40 – IC95% 1,33;4,34), diabetes mellitus (OR=2,17– IC95% 1,23;3,84), osteoporose (OR=2,92 – IC95% 1,84;4,64) e problemas cardíacos(OR=2,94 – IC95% 1,90;4,56). Conclusão: A polifarmácia em idosos encontrada nesteestudo esteve associada às condições demográficas e de saúde.

RESUMO Objetivo: Descrever as manifestações clínicas e a gravidade de crianças e adolescentes acometidos pela COVID-19 atendidos no Sabará Hospital Infantil. Métodos: Trata-se de estudo transversal, retrospectivo e observacional. Foram analisados os atendimentos (pronto-socorro, enfermaria e Unidade de Terapia Intensiva - UTI) que apresentavam diagnóstico de COVID-19 confirmado por RT-qPCR. A gravidade dos casos foi classificada de acordo com o Consenso Chinês. Resultados: Entre as 115 crianças incluídas, houve predominância do sexo masculino (57%) e a mediana de idade foi de 2 anos. Vinte e duas crianças foram hospitalizadas, sendo 12 em UTI. Do total, 26% apresentava comorbidades com predomínio de asma (13%). Febre, tosse e coriza foram os sintomas mais frequentes. Sintomas respiratórios foram relatados por 58% das crianças e gastrintestinais por 34%. Três crianças apresentavam-se assintomáticas, 81 (70%) com sintomas de vias aéreas superiores, 15 (13%) com quadro de pneumonia leve e 16 (14%) com pneumonia grave. As crianças hospitalizadas eram mais jovens do que as não hospitalizadas (7 meses vs. 36 meses). Nas hospitalizadas, observamos maior frequência de irritabilidade, dispneia, sonolência, desconforto respiratório, baixa saturação de oxigênio e hepatomegalia. Radiografia de tórax foi realizada por 69 crianças com 45% de exames alterados. Nenhuma criança necessitou de ventilação mecânica e não houve óbitos. Conclusões: Observamos que crianças e adolescentes acometidos pela Covid-19 apresentaram, em sua maioria, quadros leves e limitados a sintomas de via aérea superior. A gravidade do quadro clínico da Covid-19 foi maior entre as crianças de menor idade que tinham com maior frequência sintomas gastrintestinais e pulmonares.

ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the clinical manifestations and severity of children and adolescents affected by COVID-19 treated at Sabará Hospital Infantil. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, retrospective, and observational study. All cases of COVID-19 confirmed by RT-qPCR of patients seen at the hospital (emergency room, first-aid room, and ICU) were analyzed. The severity of the cases was classified according to the Chinese Consensus. Results: Among the 115 children included, a predominance of boys (57%) was verified, and the median age was two years. A total of 22 children were hospitalized, 12 in the ICU. Of the total, 26% had comorbidities with a predominance of asthma (13%). Fever, cough, and nasal discharge were the most frequent symptoms. Respiratory symptoms were reported by 58% of children and gastrointestinal symptoms, by 34%. Three children were asymptomatic, 81 (70%) had upper airway symptoms, 15 (13%) had mild pneumonia, and 16 (14%) had severe pneumonia. Hospitalized children were younger than non-hospitalized children (7 months vs. 36 months). In hospitalized patients, a higher frequency of irritability, dyspnea, drowsiness, respiratory distress, low oxygen saturation, and hepatomegaly was observed. Chest radiography was performed in 69 children with 45% of abnormal exams. No child required mechanical ventilation and there were no deaths. Conclusions: Most of children and adolescents affected by COVID-19 had mild upper airway symptoms. Clinical manifestations of COVID-19 were more severe among younger children who exhibited gastrointestinal and respiratory symptoms more frequently.

Resumo Compreender a relação entre os níveis de nutrientes no solo e aqueles encontrados na planta é de fundamental importância para o manejo específico da fertilidade em áreas de cultivo de mangueira (Mangifera indica L.). O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a distribuição espacial dos teores de macronutrientes no solo e na folha, e suas correlações em pomares comerciais de manga, em condições de região semiárida, e delimitar as zonas de manejo utilizando dados de solo e de folha. O experimento foi realizado em três áreas comerciais do Vale do São Francisco, Brasil, cultivadas com manga irrigada. Amostras de solo foram coletadas nas profundidades de 0-0,2 e 0,2-0,4 m, bem como amostras de folhas, seguindo malhas amostrais. Foram determinados os teores de Ca, Mg, K, P e N das amostras de solo e de folha. Foram realizadas análises descritivas e geoestatísticas. A co-krigagem foi usada para a delimitação de zonas de manejo. Correlações espaciais positivas foram obtidas entre Ca2+ no solo e Ca foliar (R2 = 0,80-0,93), K+ no solo e K foliar (R2 = 0,35-0,61) e Mg2+ no solo e P foliar (R2 = 0,51). Correlações negativas foram observadas para o Mg2+ no solo e Ca foliar (R2 = 0,79-0,93) e Mg2+ no solo e K foliar (R2 = 0,98). O solo de 0-0,2 m de profundidade teve a maior influência na absorção de Ca2+ e K+ pelas plantas. A correlação negativa entre Mg2+ do solo e Ca foliar mostra a competição existente no processo de absorção das plantas. Foi possível delimitar zonas de manejo específicas utilizando cokrigagem para as três áreas, usando dados de solo e de folha.

Abstract Understanding the relationship between the levels of nutrients in the soil and those found in the plant is of fundamental importance for site-specific fertility management in mango (Mangifera indica L.) crop fields. This study aimed to evaluate the spatial distribution of macronutrient contents both in the soil and in the leaf and their correlations in commercial mango orchards under semiarid region conditions and to delimit the management zones using soil and leaf data. The experiment was carried out in three commercial areas in San Francisco Valley, Brazil, cultivated with irrigated mango. Soil samples were collected in 0-0.2 and 0.2-0.4 m depths as well as leaf samples following sample grids. Ca, Mg, K, P, and N contents from soil and leaf samples were determined. Descriptive and geostatistics analyses were performed. Co-kriging was used for the delimitation of management zones. Positive spatial correlations were obtained between soil Ca2+ and leaf Ca contents (R2 = 0.80-0.93), soil K+ and leaf K contents (R2 = 0.35-0.61), and soil Mg2+ and leaf P contents (R2 = 0.51). Negative correlations were observed for soil Mg2+ and leaf Ca contents(R2 = 0.79-0.93) and soil Mg2+ and leaf K contents (R2 = 0.98). The soil 0-0.2 m depth had the greatest influence on mango Ca and K uptake. The negative correlation between soil Mg2+ and leaf Ca shows the competition existing in the plant uptake process. It was possible to delimit specific management zones using co-kriging for the three areas using soil and leaf data.

Abstract Didelphis species have been shown to exhibit very conservative karyotypes, which mainly differ in their constitutive heterochromatin, known to be mostly composed by repetitive DNAs. In this study, we used genome skimming data combined with computational pipelines to identify the most abundant repetitive DNA families of Lutreolina crassicaudata and all six Didelphis species. We found that transposable elements (TEs), particularly LINE-1, endogenous retroviruses, and SINEs, are the most abundant mobile elements in the studied species. Despite overall similar TE proportions, we report that species of the D. albiventris group consistently present a less diverse TE composition and smaller proportions of LINEs and LTRs in their genomes than other studied species. We also identified four new putative satDNAs (sat206, sat907, sat1430 and sat2324) in the genomes of Didelphis species, which show differences in abundance and nucleotide composition. Phylogenies based on satDNA sequences showed well supported relationships at the species (sat1430) and groups of species (sat206) level, recovering topologies congruent with previous studies. Our study is one of the first attempts to present a characterization of the most abundant families of repetitive DNAs of Lutreolina and Didelphis species providing insights into the repetitive DNA composition in the genome landscape of American marsupials.

Abstract Objective: To analyze polypharmacy prevalence and associated factors in older adults living in Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil, in 2014. Methods: This was a cross-sectional population-based study using complex sampling with older adults. Polypharmacy was defined as concomitant use of five or more medications. Results: Polypharmacy prevalence was 14.9% (95%CI 11.8;18.6), positively associated with females (OR=2.29 - 95%CI 1.41;3.74), white race/skin color (OR=1.61 - 95%CI 1.10;2.38), dependence (OR=1.65 - 95%CI 1.05;2.60), change in eating habits/dieting (OR=1.66 - 95%CI 1.16;2.36), hospitalization in the last 12 months (OR=1.61 - 95%CI 1.02;2.53) and presence of the following self-reported morbidities: systemic arterial hypertension (OR=2.40 - 95%CI 1.33;4.34), diabetes mellitus (OR=2.17 - 95%CI 1.23;3.84), osteoporosis (OR=2.92 - 95%CI 1.84;4.64) and heart problems (OR=2.94 - 95%CI 1.90;4.56). Conclusion: This study found that polypharmacy in the older adults was associated with demographic and health conditions.

Resumen Objetivo: Analizar la prevalencia y los factores asociados a la polifarmacia en adultos mayores residentes en Rio Branco, Acre, Brasil, en 2014. Métodos: Estudio poblacional transversal, verificación por muestreo complejo, con adultos mayores. La polifarmacia se definió como el uso concomitante de cinco o más fármacos. Resultados: La prevalencia de la polifarmacia fue de 14,9% (IC95% 11,8;18,6), asociada positivamente al sexo femenino (OR=2,29 - IC95% 1,41;3,74), raza/color de piel blanca (OR=1,61 - IC95% 1,10;2,38), dependencia (OR=1,65 - IC95% 1,05;2,60), cambio en los hábitos alimentarios/dieta (OR=1,66 - IC95% 1,16;2,36), hospitalización en los últimos 12 meses (OR=1,61 - IC95% 1,02;2,53) y presencia de las siguientes morbilidades autoinformadas: hipertensión arterial sistémica (OR=2,40 - IC95% 1,33;4,34), diabetes mellitus (OR=2,17 - IC95% 1,23;3,84), osteoporosis (OR=2,92 - IC95% 1,84;4,64) y problemas cardíacos (OR=2,94 - IC95% 1,90;4,56). RESUMO Objetivo Determinar a proporção de pacientes com asma com percepção inadequada do mau controle de sua doença. Métodos Estudo transversal com amostra de conveniência de pacientes com asma e idade ≥18 anos. Avaliou-se o controle da asma por meio do Asthma Control Test e do questionário do Global Initiative for Asthma. Utilizou-se o coeficiente Kappa para análise da concordância entre os resultados desses testes e a percepção do controle da asma pelo paciente, definida pela resposta a uma questão do Asthma Control Test: “Como você avalia o controle da sua asma durante as últimas 4 semanas?”. Resultados Entre os 71 pacientes com idades entre 19 e 81 anos e média de 57,7±13,9 anos, existiam 27 (38%) controlados, segundo o Asthma Control Test, e 18 (25,3%) de acordo com o questionário do Global Initiative for Asthma. Os coeficientes de Kappa entre os resultados desses testes e a percepção do controle pelos pacientes foram, respectivamente, 0,4 e 0,29. Entre os 41 (57,7%) pacientes que se consideravam controlados, 18 (43,9%) tinham percepção inapropriada do seu mau controle, de acordo com o Asthma Control Test, e 25 (61%) segundo o Global Initiative for Asthma. Conclusão Aplicando-se o Asthma Control Test, observou-se que quase metade dos participantes tinha percepção inadequada de seu mau controle da doença e, segundo o questionário da Global Initiative for Asthma, mais da metade da amostra não percebeu o descontrole da asma.

ABSTRACT Objective To determine the proportion of patients with asthma with misperception of poor control of their disease. Methods A cross-sectional study with a convenience sample of patients with asthma and aged ≥18 years. Asthma control was assessed by the Asthma Control Test and the Global Initiative for Asthma questionnaire. The Kappa coefficient was used to analyze the agreement between the results of these tests and the patients’ perception of asthma control, defined by the response to one question of the Asthma Control Test: “How do you evaluate your asthma control during the last 4 weeks?”. Results Among the 71 patients aged 19 to 81 years and a mean of 57.7±13.9 years, there were 27 (38%) controlled, according to the Asthma Control Test, and 18 (25.3%) using the Global Initiative for Asthma questionnaire. The Kappa coefficients of the results of these tests and the perception of control by the patients were 0.4 and 0.29, respectively. Among the 41 (57.7%) patients who considered themselves controlled, 18 (43.9%) had a misperception of their poor control, as per the Asthma Control Test, and 25 (61%) by the Global Initiative for Asthma. Conclusion Applying the Asthma Control Test, it was observed that almost half of the participants had a misperception of their poor control of the disease and, according to the Global Initiative for Asthma questionnaire, more than half of the sample did not notice the lack of asthma control.

Resumo Objetivo Verificar a prevalência e analisar os fatores associados ao uso de medicamentos potencialmente inapropriados (MPI) em pessoas idosas de Rio Branco, Acre, Brasil. Método Trata-se de um estudo transversal de base populacional. A variável dependente foi uso de pelo menos um MPI, de acordo com os critérios do Consenso Brasileiro de Medicamentos Potencialmente Inapropriados para Idosos (CBMPII), independentemente da condição clínica. Na avaliação da associação entre o uso de medicamentos inapropriados e as variáveis independentes, realizou-se análise bruta e ajustada por meio de regressão logística, utilizando-se o modelo hierarquizado por razão de chances (OR). Resultados A prevalência de uso de pelo menos um MPI entre os 1.016 participantes foi de 25,9% (IC95% 22,3; 29,8), associada positivamente a sexo feminino (OR=1,38; IC95% 1,01; 1,90), dependência quanto às atividades instrumentais da vida diária (OR=1,37; IC95% 1,02; 1,83), autoavaliação de saúde negativa (OR=1,54; IC95% 1,12; 2,11), internação nos últimos 12 meses (OR=1,79; IC95% 1,19; 2,69) e presença de mais de três comorbidades (OR= 2,56; IC95% 1,97; 3,33). A subcategoria mais utilizada foi dos inibidores de bombas de prótons, por 11,3% (9,2; 13,8). Conclusão A prevalência de uso de MPI por idosos da amostra foi de um quarto, estando associada ao sexo feminino e a condições de saúde. Ações de conscientização fazem-se necessárias para garantia dos benefícios no uso dos medicamentos.

Abstract Objective To verify the prevalence and analyze the factors associated with the use of potentially inappropriate medications (PIM) in the older adults in Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil. Method This is a cross-sectional population-based study. The dependent variable was the use of at least one PIM, according to the criteria of the Brazilian Consensus on Potentially Inappropriate Medicines for the older adults, regardless of clinical condition. In evaluating the association between the use of inappropriate medications and the independent variables, a crude and adjusted analysis was performed using logistic regression, using the hierarchical model by odds ratio (OR). Results The prevalence of using at least one PIM among the 1,016 participants was 25.9% (95%CI 22.3; 29.8), positively associated with female sex (OR=1.38; 95%CI 1.01; 1.90), dependence on instrumental activities of daily living (OR=1.37; 95%CI 1.02; 1.83), negative self-rated health (OR=1.54; 95%CI 1.12; 2.11), hospitalization in the last 12 months (OR=1.79; 95%CI 1.19; 2.69) and presence of more than three comorbidities (OR=2.56; 95%CI 1.97; 3.33). The most used subcategory was proton pump inhibitors by 11.3% (9.2; 13.8). Conclusion The prevalence of PIM use by elderly in this population was a quarter, being associated with female gender and health conditions. Awareness actions are necessary to guarantee the benefits of using medications.

RESUMO O desenvolvimento de novos compósitos oxalato de zinco (ZnC2O4)/xerogel de carbono para aplicações fotocatalíticas foi avaliado. O uso do xerogel de carbono é justificado por sua alta condutividade, que facilita a separação de cargas geradas na estrutura do oxalato de zinco. A eficiência fotocatalítica dos materiais foi avaliada pela decomposição do azul de metileno. Os materiais foram produzidos pela dispersão do oxalato de zinco em gel de carbono, durante sua policondensação em meio ácido. Os difratogramas de raios-X evidenciam a existência da fase ?-ZnC2O4 no compósito desenvolvido. O material apresenta significativa absorção de radiação na faixa de comprimentos de onda visível. O compósito apresentou degradação completa do azul de metileno (10 mg L-1, 0.5 L) no sistema após 3 h sob luz solar simulada, com dosagem de 50 mg L-1 de catalisador, evidenciando o potencial uso desse material em processos de tratamento de efluentes.

ABSTRACT The development of new ZnC2O4/carbon xerogel composites for photocatalytic applications has been evaluated. The use of carbon xerogel is justified by its high conductivity, which facilitates the separation of charges generated in the structure of zinc oxalate. The photocatalytic efficiency of the materials was evaluated by the decomposition of methylene blue. The materials were produced by dispersing zinc oxalate in carbon gel during its polycondensation in acidic medium. X-ray diffractograms show the existence of the ?-ZnC2O4 phase in the developed composite. The material has significant radiation absorption in the visible wavelength range. The composite showed complete degradation of methylene blue (10 mg L-1, 0.5 L) in the system after 3 h under simulated sunlight, with 50 mg L-1 catalyst dosage, showing the potential use of this material in treatment processes. of effluents.

Abstract INTRODUCTION: Curtailing the development of the aquatic immature stages of Aedes aegypti is one of the main measures to limit their spread and the diseases transmitted by them. The use of plant extracts is a promising approach in the development of natural insecticides. Thus, this research aimed to characterize the inhibitory effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of Caryocar brasiliense leaves on the emergence of adult A. aegypti and the main substances that constitute this extract. METHODS: C. brasiliense leaf extract was prepared by ethanol (70%) extraction. Bioassays using L3 larvae were performed at concentrations of 200, 300, 400, and 500 ppm. We identified the major secondary metabolites present in this extract, and performed toxicity tests on an off-target organism, Danio rerio. RESULTS: We observed a significant delay in the development of A. aegypti larvae mainly at a concentration of 500 ppm, and estimated an emergence inhibition for 50% of the population of 150 ppm. Moreover, the C. brasiliense leaf extracts exhibited low toxicity in D. rerio. The main compounds found in the extract were quercetin, violaxanthin, myricetin3-O-hexoside, methyl-elagic-3-arabinose acid, and isoquercitrin. CONCLUSIONS: Herein, we demonstrate the inhibition of mosquito development by the hydroalcoholic extract of C. brasiliense and suggest substances that may act as active principles.
