Abstract Large quantities of residual cooking oil are being increasingly generated in various sectors, as it is often improperly disposed of and causes serious environmental problems. A commonly used alternative is the use of lipases in enzymatic hydrolysis, since it is rather attractive to several sectors, in addition to allowing the use of products generated thereof, such as: free fatty acids, diacylglycerols, monoacylglycerols and free glycerol, moreover, it is capable of operating in mild temperature and pressure conditions. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate alternatives for the hydrolysis of residual frying oil by evaluating the efficiency of different types of supports and heating systems using free and immobilized forms of lipase from Burkholderia cepacia (BCL) and Porcine pancreas (PPL) as biocatalyst. Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB), niobium oxide (Nb2O5) and chitosan (CHIT) were evaluated as support for immobilizing BCL and PPL lipases, and superior results were found regarding the hydrolytic activity of immobilization derivatives using PHB and Nb2O5. Among the heating systems under evaluation, the highest percentage of residual oil hydrolysis was found using the ultrasound system for both free and immobilized lipases, reaching 57.91% hydrolysis for lipases immobilized on Nb2O5 and 61.11% hydrolysis for the derivative immobilized on PHB. The operational stability of both biocatalysts was evaluated using similar half-life time values for both. Thus, it was observed that the ultrasound system was efficient in improving lipase performance in the hydrolysis of free fatty acids, once this unconventional heating system is quite promising for accelerating such enzymatic reactions.

O álcool esteve presente na maioria dos estudos, seguido da maconha e nicotina. O cenário predominante foi a unidade básica de saúde, com público de adultos de ambos os sexos e universitários. A maioria apresentou como proposta a Intervenção Breve grupal presencial e somente dez indicaram o referencial norteador da Intervenção Breve utilizada. No Brasil, as Intervenções Breves são incipientes e os estudos apresentados não destacam com exatidão o referencial norteador da intervenção utilizada.

Abstract This study aimed to use the petiole residues of miriti to partially replace pine wood and evaluate the effects of this incorporation on the physical and mechanical properties of the particleboards. Panels were produced with 0, 25, 50, and 75% of miriti in partial replacement of wood and 12% of urea-formaldehyde adhesive. The chemical-physical properties of miriti residues showed potential particleboard production as they were similar to those of pinewood. For the physical properties, the panels were classified as low density. There was an increase in the compression ratio and, consequently, in the hygroscopicity . For the mechanical properties, it was observed that the modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rupture (MOR) did not show any statistical differences. For perpendicular traction (PT), there was a significant reduction in 50%. Considering a general analysis of the physical and mechanical properties, up to 40% of mirti can be substituted, as in this situation they meet the properties mentioned in CS-236-66, except for PT for commercialization of the panels.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi utilizar os resíduos do pecíolo do miriti em substituição parcial da madeira de pinus e avaliar os efeitos dessa incorporação nas propriedades físicas e mecânicas dos painéis aglomerados. Os painéis foram produzidos com 0, 25, 50 e 75% de miriti em substituição parcial de madeira e 12% de adesivo uréia-formaldeído. As propriedades físico-químicas dos resíduos de miriti mostraram potencial de produção de aglomerados, uma vez que foram semelhantes às do pinus. Quanto às propriedades físicas, os painéis foram classificados como de baixa densidade. Houve aumento na taxa de compressão e, consequentemente, na higroscopicidade. Para as propriedades mecânicas, observou-se que o módulo de elasticidade (MOE) e o módulo de ruptura (MOR) não houve diferença estatística. Para tração perpendicular (TP) houve redução significativa de 50%. Considerando uma análise geral das propriedades físicas e mecânicas, é possível uma substituição em até 40% de miriti, pois nessa situação atendem as propriedades mencionadas na CS-236-66, com exceção da TP para a comercialização dos painéis.

Abstract: This work aimed to evaluate the physical-mechanical properties of Pinus oocarpa wood agglomerated panels produced with different levels (0 %, 25 %, 50 %, 75 % and 100 %) of wood replacement with bean residues. For this purpose, Pinus oocarpa wood and the agricultural residue were reduced into particles and their properties of apparent density, extractives, lignin and ash content of these raw materials were determined. Then, the particles were dried to a 3 % humidity and granulometrically selected to produce panels with a density of 0,60 g/cm3. These particles were bonded using 12 % urea-formaldehyde adhesive, pressed, following normative dimensions (250 mm x 250 mm x 15 mm (width, length, and thickness)), and kept in a climate-controlled environment (20 ºC ± 2 ºC and 65 % ± 5 % RH) until the physical and mechanical tests were carried out. The research results indicated that the particles from bean residues in comparison with Pinus oocarpa wood, presented low density, lignin and holocellulose values, and higher extractives data. Furthermore, regarding the characterization of the panels, there was a trend towards uniformity in the apparent density values, an increase in the properties of compact ratio, water absorption and thickness swelling, and a decrease in their mechanical properties associated with the increase in the by-product addition to the panels. Therefore, new studies are necessary, seeking a larger study and greater knowledge of the addition effects of bean residues in particulate panels, aiming the dissemination of this sustainable process on large scale.

Resumo Objetivo analisar a função sexual e sua associação com a sexualidade e com a qualidade de vida de mulheres idosas. Método trata-se de um estudo transversal, do tipo web survey, desenvolvido com 166 mulheres idosas. Foram utilizados quatro instrumentos autoaplicáveis para a obtenção dos dados biosociodemográficos, da função sexual, sexualidade e qualidade de vida. A análise foi realizada com o teste de Mann-Whitney, correlação de Spearman e regressão linear, considerando um intervalo de confiança de 95%. Resultados a maior influência da função sexual foi observada na dimensão ato sexual da sexualidade (β=0,524; [IC95%=0,451-0,597]; p<0,001; R2=54,8%) e entre a faceta intimidade da qualidade de vida (β=0,501; [IC95%=0,380-0,622]; p<0,001; R2=29,0%). De modo geral, o modelo de regressão demonstrou que a função sexual permaneceu associada à sexualidade (β=0,888; [IC95%=0,749-1,028]; p<0,001; R2=49,1%) e à qualidade de vida das participantes (β=0,352; [IC95%=0,264-0,439]; p<0,001; R2=27,7%). Conclusão e implicações para a prática a função sexual está associada à sexualidade e à qualidade de vida das mulheres idosas, assumindo comportamento diretamente proporcional que, por sua vez, pode se tornar uma estratégia para agregar qualidade aos anos adicionais de vida dessa população.

Abstract Objective to analyze the sexual function and its association with the sexuality and quality of life of elderly women. Methods this is a cross-sectional web survey study developed with 166 elderly women. Four self-administered instruments were used to obtain biosociodemographic, sexual function, sexuality and quality of life data. The analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test, Spearman correlation and linear regression, considering a 95% confidence interval. Results the greatest influence of sexual function was observed in the sexual act dimension of sexuality (β=0.524; [95%CI=0.451-0.597]; p<0.001; R2=54.8%) and between the intimacy facet of quality of life (β =0.501; [95%CI=0.380-0.622]; p<0.001; R2=29.0%). In general, the regression model showed that sexual function remained associated with sexuality (β=0.888; [CI95%=0.749-1.028]; p<0.001; R2=49.1%) and the quality of life of the participants (β=0.352; [CI95%=0.264-0.439]; p<0.001; R2=27.7%). Conclusion and implications for the practice sexual function is associated with the sexuality and quality of life of older women, assuming a directly proportional behavior which, in turn, can become a strategy to add quality to the additional years of life of this population.

Resumo Objetivo analisar a associação entre as vivências em sexualidade com as variáveis biossociodemográficas e a qualidade de vida de pessoas idosas. Métodos estudo transversal, desenvolvido com 1.922 pessoas idosas brasileiras, cujos dados foram coletados por meio de web survey. Utilizaram-se três instrumentos para a obtenção dos dados biossociodemográficos, da sexualidade e da qualidade de vida. A análise foi realizada com os testes de Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, correlação de Spearman e regressão linear multivariada, com método de entrada “inserir”, adotando Intervalo de Confiança de 95%. Resultados a avaliação geral da sexualidade esteve associada fortemente com estado civil (p<0,001); religião (p=0,001); não ter filhos (p<0,001); orientação sexual (p=0,008) e recebimento de orientações sobre sexualidade pelos profissionais de saúde (p=0,002). A sexualidade correlacionou-se de forma positiva e com diferentes magnitudes com todas as facetas de qualidade de vida (p<0,001). A análise de regressão demonstrou que todas as dimensões da sexualidade permaneceram associadas, positivamente, com qualidade de vida: ato sexual [β=0,154; IC95%=0,083-0,225; p<0,001]; relações afetivas [β=0,335; IC95%=0,263-0,407; p<0,001] e adversidades física e social [β=1,388; IC95%=1,206-1,571; p<0,001]. Conclusão e implicações para a prática: a sexualidade associou-se, significativamente, com algumas variáveis biossociodemográficas e esteve correlacionada, positivamente, com a qualidade de vida das pessoas idosas investigadas.

Abstract Objective to analyze the association between experiences of sexuality with bio-socio-demographic variables and quality of life of elderly people. Methods cross-sectional study, developed with 1,922 Brazilian elderly people, whose data were collected through a web survey. Three instruments were used to obtain bio-socio-demographic data, sexuality and quality of life. The analysis was carried out with the Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, Spearman correlation and multivariate linear regression tests, with the “insert” input method, adopting a 95% confidence interval. Results the overall assessment of sexuality was strongly associated with marital status (p<0.001); religion (p=0.001); not having children (p<0.001); sexual orientation (p=0.008) and receiving guidance on sexuality from health professionals (p=0.002). Sexuality correlated positively and with different magnitudes with all facets of quality of life (p<0.001). Regression analysis demonstrated that all dimensions of sexuality remained positively associated with quality of life: sexual act [β=0.154; 95%CI=0.083-0.225; p<0.001]; affective relationships [β=0.335; 95%CI=0.263-0.407; p<0.001] and physical and social adversity [β=1.388; 95%CI=1.206-1.571; p<0.001]. Conclusion and implications for practice sexuality was significantly associated with some bio-socio-demographic variables and positively correlated with the quality of life of the elderly people investigated.

Resumen Objetivo analizar la asociación entre experiencias en sexualidad con las variables biosociodemográficas y la calidad de vida de los adultos mayores. Métodos estudio transversal desarrollado con 1.922 ancianos brasileños, cuyos datos fueron recolectados a través de una encuesta web. Se usaron tres instrumentos para obtener datos biosociodemográficos, de sexualidad y de la calidad de vida. El análisis se realizó mediante las pruebas de Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, correlación de Spearman y regresión lineal multivariada, con método de entrada “ingresar”, adoptando un Intervalo de Confianza del 95%. Resultados la evaluación general de la sexualidad se asoció fuertemente con el estado civil (p <0,001); religión (p = 0,001); no tener hijos (p <0,001); orientación sexual (p = 0,008) y recibir orientación sobre sexualidad por parte de profesionales de la salud (p = 0,002). La sexualidad se correlacionó positivamente y con diferentes magnitudes con todas las facetas de la calidad de vida (p <0,001). El análisis de regresión mostró que todas las dimensiones de la sexualidad permanecieron asociadas positivamente con la calidad de vida: relaciones sexuales [β = 0,154; IC95% = 0,083-0,225; p <0,001]; relaciones afectivas [β = 0,335; IC95% = 0,263-0,407; p <0,001] y adversidades físicas y sociales [β = 1,388; IC95% = 1,206-1,571; p <0,001]. Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica la sexualidad se asoció significativamente con algunas variables biosociodemográficas y se correlacionó positivamente con la calidad de vida de los ancianos investigados.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Lipomatous pseudohypertrophy of the pancreas, pancreatic lipomatosis, pancreatic steatosis, non-alcoholic fatty pancreatic disease, or fatty pancreas is an extremely rare disease, characterized by the organ enlargement and a localized or diffuse replacement of pancreatic acinar cells by mature adipose tissue, preserving the pancreatic ductal system and islets of Langerhans. AIMS: To report a rare case of lipomatous pseudohypertrophy of the pancreas in a symptomatic patient and the surgical treatment employed. METHODS: A 24-year-old male patient with weight loss (10 kilograms in 8 months), hyperglycemia, severe and recurrent acute abdominal pain, epigastric discomfort associated with nausea, vomiting, and jaundice for 40 days. Magnetic resonance imaging was performed, revealing an irregular lipomatous pseudohypertrophy of the pancreas, measuring 6.0 × 5.6 cm in the head, uncinate process, and part of the body of the pancreas. The pancreatic duct dilation was diffuse and irregular, associated with atrophy of the remnant parenchyma, particularly in the tail of the pancreas. The patient underwent pancreatoduodenectomy without total mesopancreas excision followed by pancreatojejunostomy. RESULTS: The postoperative course was uneventful, the length of stay in the ICU was two days, and the patient was discharged on the seventh postoperative day. CONCLUSIONS: The disease treatment depends on the signs and symptoms at presentation and a pancreatoduodenectomy is indicated in patients with severe and recurrent abdominal pain.

RESUMO RACIONAL: Pseudo-hipertrofia lipomatosa do pâncreas, lipomatose pancreática, esteatose pancreática, doença pancreática gordurosa não alcoólica ou pâncreas gorduroso é uma doença extremamente rara, caracterizada por aumento do órgão e substituição localizada ou difusa de células acinares pancreáticas por tecido adiposo, preservando o sistema ductal pancreático e as ilhotas de Langerhans. OBJETIVOS: Relatar um caso raro de pseudo-hipertrofia lipomatosa do pâncreas, em paciente sintomático e o tratamento cirúrgico empregado. MÉTODOS: Paciente do sexo masculino, 24 anos, com queixas de emagrecimento (10 quilos nos últimos 8 meses), hiperglicemia, dor abdominal aguda intensa e recorrente, desconforto epigástrico associado a náuseas, vômitos e icterícia há 40 dias. A ressonância magnética (RM) revelou pseudo-hipertrofia lipomatosa irregular do pâncreas, medindo 6,0 × 5,6 cm na cabeça, processo uncinado e parte do corpo do pâncreas. A dilatação do ducto pancreático era difusa e irregular, associada à atrofia do parênquima remanescente, principalmente na cauda do pâncreas. O paciente foi submetido à duodenopancreatectomia sem excisão total do mesopâncreas seguida de pancreatojejunostomia. RESULTADOS: O pós-operatório transcorreu sem intercorrências, o tempo de internação na UTI foi de 2 dias, com alta hospitalar no sétimo dia. CONCLUSÕES: O tratamento da doença depende dos sinais e sintomas na apresentação e a duodenopancreatectomia é indicada em pacientes com dor abdominal intensa e recorrente.

ABSTRACT Amazonian soils have been suffering severe changes resulting from human activities in the region, causing significant changes in soil attributes that can contribute to greater susceptibility to erosion processes. Therefore, the present work aimed to estimate the erodibility in natural and anthropic environments in the southern region of the Amazon. Eight areas in the region were selected, including areas of native forest, savannah, cerradão, pasture and reforestation, delimiting 32 sampling points per area, with collections at a depth of 0.00-0.20 m, totaling 256 samples. Next, texture analysis and quantification of soil organic carbon were performed, and then erodibility was estimated by indirect prediction methods, Tukey’s test, Pearson’s correlation and factorial analysis of principal components. According to the results obtained, it was observed that the evaluated areas of native forest 1 and 2, cerradão and pasture present high susceptibility to erosion in relation to the cerrado, reforestation with genipap, teak and mixed areas. Therefore, it was noted that the high level of erodibility is associated with a greater predominance of sand fraction, K factor, Ki Kr and low clay content, as well as with the management employed in the areas.

Abstract The study of adaptability and yield stability is essential for the selection and recommendation of new cultivars. Thus, this study determined the adaptability and yield stability of black bean genotypes for cultivar recommendation using a GGE biplot. To this end, nine trials were carried out at different locations in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Eleven genotypes were evaluated in three growing seasons, in a randomized block design, with three replications. Adaptability and stability of grain yield were analyzed by the GGE biplot method. The effects of genotypes, environments and of the genotype - environment interaction were significant, which explained the different responses of the genotypes to the tested environments. The GGE biplot analysis revealed Macaé as an ideal district for testing and high yield, adaptability, and stability of performance were observed for genotype CNFP 15290, which can be recommended for grain production in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

This study verified the differences in richness, density and species composition of the seed bank under the canopy s tree species and the adjacent field area and the relationship of total stem height and crown area to density and richness bank seeds. The seed bank was collected under the canopy of 10 individuals of each species (Curatella americana L., Luetzelburgia auriculata (Allemão) Duckee, Copernicia prunifera (Mill.) H.E.Moore)), and at 10 points in an adjacent field area. The density and richness of the seed bank was larger under the crowns of the species. The total stem height showed a positive relationship with richness and density of the seed bank, and a canopy area negative relationship. The tree species studied enhance the generation of seed bank, increasing its richness and density. They also influence species distribution and local diversity.

Este estudo verificou as diferenças na riqueza, densidade e composição de espécies do banco de sementes sob a copa es espécies arbóreas e a área de campo adjacentes e a relação entre altura total do caule e área da copa com a densidade e riqueza do banco de sementes. Foram coletados o banco de sementes sob a copa de 10 indivíduos de cada espécies (Curatella americana L., Luetzelburgia auriculata (Allemão) Duckee, Copernicia prunifera (Mill.) H.E.Moore)), e em 10 pontos em área de campo adjacente. A densidade e riqueza do banco de sementes foram maiores sob as copas das espécies. A altura do caule apresentou relação positiva com riqueza e densidade do banco de sementes e, área da copa relação negativa. As espécies arbóreas estudadas potencializam a formação de banco de sementes, aumentando a riqueza e densidade. Também influenciam na distribuição das espécies e na diversidade local.

Resumen Objetivo: Analizar la correlación entre las vivencias de la sexualidad, por medio de las variables biosociodemográficas, y la salud mental de las personas adultas mayores. Metodología: Se trata de un estudio transversal y correlacional realizado con 300 personas adultas mayores residentes en el noreste de Brasil. Los datos sobre sexualidad fueron evaluados por el instrumento EVASI y, sobre salud mental, evaluados con el instrumento SRQ-20. Fueron recolectados entre agosto y octubre de 2020. Para el análisis de los datos, se utilizaron las pruebas de correlación de Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis y Spearman, con un intervalo de confianza del 95 % (p<0.05). Resultados: Hubo una correlación estadística entre las relaciones sexuales y el grupo de edad (p=0,039). Además, todas las dimensiones de la sexualidad se asociaron con el estado civil (p<0,05) y se correlacionaron significativamente con todos los dominios de la salud mental, mostrando correlaciones débiles y moderadas, positivas y negativas. Conclusión: Se concluye que la sexualidad se correlacionó significativamente con la salud mental, de tal manera que el aumento de las experiencias de sexualidad reduce los síntomas del estado de ánimo depresivo-ansioso, los síntomas somáticos, la disminución de la energía vital y los pensamientos depresivos. Estos resultados apuntan a la necesidad de considerar la sexualidad como un posible factor que suma a una mejor salud mental en las personas mayores.

Resumo Objetivo: Analisar a correlação entre as vivências da sexualidade com as variáveis biosociodemográficas e saúde mental de idosos. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo seccional e correlacional desenvolvido com 300 idosos residentes no nordeste do Brasil. Os dados sobre sexualidade avaliados pelo instrumento EVASI e, sobre a saúde mental, avaliados com o instrumento SRQ-20, foram coletados entre agosto e outubro de 2020. Para a análise dos dados, utilizou-se os testes de Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis e correlação de Spearman, com intervalo de confiança de 95% (p<0,05). Resultados: Evidenciou-se correlação estatística entre ato sexual e faixa etária (p=0,039). Além disso, todas as dimensões da sexualidade se associaram com o estado civil (p<0,05) e foram significativamente correlacionadas a todos os domínios da saúde mental, evidenciando correlações fracas e moderadas, positivas e negativas. Conclusão: Conclui-se que a sexualidade se correlacionou significativamente com a saúde mental, de tal forma que, o aumento das vivências em sexualidade reduz os sintomas de humor depressivo-ansioso, sintomas somáticos, decréscimo de energia vital e pensamentos depressivos. Esses resultados apontam para a necessidade de considerar a sexualidade como um possível fator que agregue melhor saúde mental aos idosos.

ABSTRACT Aim: To analyze the correlation between the experiences of sexuality with the biosociodemographic variables and mental health of the elderly. Methods: This is a cross-sectional and correlational study carried out with 300 elderly people living in northeastern Brazil. Data about sexuality, assessed by the EVASI instrument, and about mental health, assessed with the SRQ-20 instrument, were collected between August and October 2020. For the data analysis, the Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman correlation tests were used with a 95% confidence interval (p <0.05). Results: There was a statistical correlation between sexual intercourse and age group (p = 0.039). In addition, all dimensions of sexuality were associated with marital status (p<0.05) and were significantly correlated to all domains of mental health, showing weak and moderate, positive and negative correlations. Conclusion: The authors conclude that sexuality was significantly correlated with mental health, in such a way that the increase in sexual experiences reduces the symptoms of depressive-anxious mood, somatic symptoms, decrease in vital energy and depressive thoughts. These results point to the need to consider sexuality as a possible factor that improves the mental health of elderly citizens.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Few studies on physical medicine and rehabilitation analyze the benefit of wheelchair basketball in people with motor disabilities. Given these, this study aimed to investigate the effect of the intervention of wheelchair basketball on urinary tract infection in people with motor disabilities. METHODS: A 12-month experimental follow-up was conducted in a single-center study. A total of 48 male individuals aged 18–55 years were allocated to the control group and experimental group. The experimental group practiced wheelchair basketball for 2 h, twice a week. Intra- and intergroup comparisons were made pre- and post-interventions over urinary tract infection. RESULTS: There was a significant improvement in urinary tract infection and urine culture in pre- and post-intervention antibiograms, respectively. Moreover, the intergroup comparison presented a decrease in infection caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae, as well as an increase in the time variability of partially activated thromboplastin, average corpuscular hemoglobin, and hemoglobin and platelets. In the experimental group, there was an increase in hemoglobin and hematocrit and a decrease in glycated hemoglobin (%HbA1C). On the intragroup comparison, there was a reduction of triiodothyronine (T3), %HbA1C, interleukin-6 pre-intervention, and C-reactive protein post-intervention. CONCLUSIONS: There was a decrease in urinary tract infection and improvement in biochemical, immunological, and microbiological biomarkers evaluated with physical exercise practice by wheelchair basketball, as well as by multiprofessional follow-up and health guidance.

Resumen Introducción: la literatura ya señala que la familia es muchas veces el principal obstáculo que impide que las personas mayores experimenten su sexualidad. Sin embargo, hasta donde sabemos, no existen estudios que identifiquen los efectos de la sexualidad en el funcionamiento familiar. Objetivo: analizar los efectos de la sexualidad sobre la funcionalidad familiar y la calidad de vida de las personas mayores. Materiales y métodos: un estudio transversal realizado con 692 adultos mayores entre los meses de julio y octubre de 2020 utilizando instrumentos autoadministrados. Los datos se analizaron mediante la prueba de Kruskal-Wallis, la correlación de Pearson y el modelado de ecuaciones estructurales. Resultados: los ancianos con algún grado de disfunción familiar tuvieron peor experiencia en sexualidad y peor calidad de vida. El dominio de las relaciones afectivas de la sexualidad fue el único que ejerció un efecto positivo, de moderada a fuerte magnitud acerca de la funcionalidad familiar (CP = 0,472 [IC95% = 0,301-0,642] p <0,001). La calidad de vida, a su vez, tuvo un efecto positivo, de débil a moderada magnitud, en todos los dominios de la sexualidad: acto sexual (CP = 0,339 [IC95% = 0,190-0,488] p <0,001); relaciones afectivas (CP = 0,117 [IC95% =-0,041-0,275] p <0,001) y adversidades físicas y sociales (CP = 0,150 [IC95% = 0,074-0,226] p <0,001). Conclusión: la sexualidad entre los adultos mayores puede ser explorada con mayor frecuencia en los servicios de salud, ya que ejerció efectos positivos acerca de la funcionalidad familiar y la calidad de vida en esta población. Se espera que, con los resultados de este estudio, se aprecie la temática en los servicios de atención y que se explore la sexualidad en la vejez con los ancianos, especialmente en la atención primaria de salud.

Resumo Introdução: a literatura já aponta que a família, muitas vezes, é o principal obstáculo que impede as pessoas idosas vivenciarem sua sexualidade. Porém, até onde sabemos, não existem estudos que identifiquem os efeitos da sexualidade na funcionalidade familiar. Objetivo: analisar os efeitos da sexualidade sobre a funcionalidade familiar e sobre a qualidade de vida de pessoas idosas. Materiais e métodos: estudo seccional realizado com 692 pessoas idosas entre os meses de julho e outubro de 2020 por meio da utilização de instrumentos autoaplicáveis. Os dados foram analisados com o teste de Kruskal-Wallis, correlação de Pearson e modelagem de equações estruturais. Resultados: as pessoas idosas com algum grau de disfuncionalidade familiar apresentaram pior vivência na sexualidade e pior qualidade de vida. O domínio relações afetivas da sexualidade foi o único a exercer efeito de forma positiva, de moderada a forte magnitude com a funcionalidade familiar (CP=0,472 [IC95%=0,301-0,642] p<0,001). A qualidade de vida, por sua vez, sofreu efeito positivo, de fraca a moderada magnitude, de todos os domínios da sexualidade: ato sexual (CP=0,339 [IC95%=0,190-0,488] p<0,001); relações afetivas (CP=0,117 [IC95%= -0,041-0,275] p<0,001) e adversidades física e social (CP=0,150 [IC95%=0,074-0,226] p<0,001). Conclusão: a sexualidade entre as pessoas idosas pode ser explorada com maior frequência nos serviços de saúde, uma vez que, exerceu efeitos positivos na funcionalidade familiar e na qualidade de vida dessa população. Espera-se que com os resultados deste estudo, haja valorização da temática nos serviços assistenciais e que a sexualidade na velhice seja explorada com as pessoas idosas, especialmente na atenção primária à saúde.

Abstract Introduction: the literature already points out that the family is often the main obstacle that prevents elderly people from experiencing their sexuality. However, there are no studies that identify the effects of sexuality on family functioning. Objective: analyzing the effects of sexuality on family functionality and on the quality of life of the elderly. Materials and methods: a cross-sectional study conducted with 692 elderly people between the months of July and October 2020 by self- administered instruments. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test, Pearson correlation and structural equation modeling. Results: the elderly with some degree of family dysfunction had a worse experience in sexuality and a worse quality of life. The affective relationships domain of sexuality was the only one to exert a positive effect, from moderate to strong magnitude on family functionality (PC=0.472 [CI95%=0.301-0.642] p<0.001). Quality of life, in turn, had a positive effect, from weak to moderate magnitude, in all domains of sexuality: sexual act (PC=0.339 [CI95%=0.190- 0.488] p<0.001); affective relationships (PC=0.117 [CI95%= -0.041-0.275] p<0.001) and physical and social adversities (PC=0.150 [CI95%=0.074-0.226] p<0.001). Conclusion: sexuality among the elderly can be explored more frequently in health services, as it exerted positive effects on family functionality and quality of life in this population. It is expected that with the results of this study, there is an appreciation of the theme in care services and that sexuality in old age is explored with the elderly, especially in primary health care.

RESUMO Objetivo analisar a associação entre as vivências em sexualidade e características biosociodemográficas de idosos. Método estudo transversal, desenvolvido com 3.740 idosos. Os participantes preencheram dois instrumentos para a obtenção das variáveis biosociodemográficas e sobre as vivências em sexualidade. Os dados foram analisados com os Testes de Mann-Whitney e Kruskal-Wallis, com intervalo de confiança de 95% para todas as análises. Resultados houve predominância de participantes do sexo masculino (62,6%) e que nunca receberam orientações sobre sexualidade pelos profissionais de saúde (77,6%). As melhores vivências em sexualidade foram observadas entre os participantes do sexo masculino (p=0,002), com idade entre 60 e 74 anos (p<0,001), autodeclarados pardos (p<0,001), adeptos às religiões de origens africanas (p<0,001), que possuem parceria fixa (p<0,001), que convivem com o cônjuge por tempo igual ou inferior a cinco anos (p<0,001), que não possuem filhos (p<0,001), e os homossexuais (p<0,001). Conclusão e implicações para a prática todas as variáveis biosociodemográficas se associaram significativamente com, pelo menos, uma dimensão da escala de sexualidade. Nesse sentido, os profissionais de saúde terão evidências científicas e atuais das variáveis que mais necessitam de atenção no cuidado ao idoso no que diz respeito à sua sexualidade.

ABSTRACT Objective to analyze the association between experiences in older adults’ sexuality and biosociodemographic characteristics. Method a cross-sectional study developed with 3,740 older adults. The participants filled out two instruments to obtain the biosociodemographic variables and on the experiences in sexuality. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests, with a 95% confidence interval for all analyses. Results there was a predominance of male participants (62.6%) who never received guidance on sexuality from health professionals (77.6%). The best experiences in sexuality were observed among male participants (p=0.002), aged between 60 and 74 years (p<0.001), self-declared brown (p<0.001), adherents to religions of African origins (p<0.001), who have a single partner (p<0.001), who live with their spouse for five years or less (p<0.001), who do not have children (p<0.001) and homosexuals (p<0.001). Conclusion and implications for practice all biosociodemographic variables were significantly associated with at least one dimension of the sexuality scale. In this sense, health professionals will have scientific and current evidence of the variables that most need attention in elder care with regard to their sexuality.

RESUMEN Objetivo analizar la asociación entre experiencias en sexualidad características biosociodemográficas de los ancianos. Método estudio transversal, desarrollado con 3.740 personas mayores. Los participantes completaron dos instrumentos para obtener las variables biosociodemográficas y sobre experiencias en la sexualidad. Los datos se analizaron mediante las pruebas de Mann-Whitney y Kruskall-Wallis, con un intervalo de confianza del 95% para todos los análisis. Resultados predominó el sexo masculino (62,6%) y que nunca había recibido orientación sobre sexualidad por parte de profesionales de la salud (77,6%). Las mejores experiencias en sexualidad se observaron entre los participantes masculinos (p=0,002), edad entre 60 y 74 años (p<0,001), marrón autodeclarado (p<0,001), adherentes a religiones de origen africano (p<0,001), que tienen una pareja estable (p<0,001), que viven con su cónyuge durante cinco años o menos (p<0,001), que no tienen hijos (p<0,001) y homosexuales (p<0,001). Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica todas las variables biosociodemográficas se asociaron significativamente con al menos una dimensión de la escala de sexualidad. En este sentido, los profesionales de la salud contarán con evidencia científica y actual de las variables que más necesitan atención en el cuidado de las personas mayores en cuanto a su sexualidad.
