ABSTRACT The objective of the present study was to compare BP after a concurrent training session (CT) and playful activities (LA) in people living with HIV (PLHIV) and to analyse the contribution of peripheral resistance and baroreflex in BP. Fifteen people living with HIV participated in the study, 9 women and 6 men aged 50.54± 10.81 years, time of ART use of 9.17± 4.97 years. All volunteers participated in one session of HT, one session of AL, and one session of control (CC). BP and heart rate (HR) were measured before and after the interventions for analyses of systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), total peripheral resistance (TPR) and low frequency (LF). The Shapiro-Wilk, Friedman, and Wilcoxon tests were performed; the significance level was p< 0.05. Spearman's correlation coefficient test and Gohen's test (d) were also used to calculate the effect size. There was a statistically significant decrease in SBP and DBP after TC (SBP: before= 123± 14 mmHg; after= 114± 8 mmHg; DBP: before= 82± 11 mmHg; after= 74± 6 mmHg) and AL (SBP: before= 122± 15 mmHg; after= 115± 10 mmHg; DBP: before= 81± 11 mmHg; after= 76± 10 mmHg). There was a statistically significant increase in PTR in CC (PTR: before= 14.67± 3.06 mmHg·min-1·L; after= 15.57± 2.84 mmHg·min-1·L) and a statistically significant decrease in PTR and LF after TC (PTR: before= 15.85± 4.48 mmHg·min-1·L; after= 13.48± 4.55 mmHg·min-1·L; LF: before= 400.86± 376.68 ms²; after= 212.05± 252.19 ms²). We can conclude that both HT and AL cause hypotension in PLHIV. Both interventions can be applied to this population in order to improve cardiovascular health.

RESUMO O objetivo do presente estudo foi comparar a PA após uma sessão de treinamento concorrente (TC) e as atividades lúdicas (AL) em pessoas vivendo com HIV (PVHIV) e analisar a contribuição da resistência periférica e baroreflexo na PA. Participaram do estudo 15 pessoas que vivem com HIV, 9 mulheres e 6 homens com 50,54± 10,81 anos, tempo de uso da TARV de 9,17± 4,97 anos. Todos os voluntários participaram de uma sessão de TC, de uma de AL e outra na condição controle (CC). Foram aferidos PA e frequência cárdica (FC) pré e pós as intervenções para analises da pressão arterial sistólica (PAS), pressão arterial diastólica (PAD), resistência periférica total (RPT) e baixa frequência (BF). Foram realizados os testes de Shapiro-Wilk, Friedman e Wilcoxon, o nível de significância foi de p< 0,05. Ainda, foi utilizado o teste coeficiente de correlação de Spearman e o teste de Gohen (d) para cálculo do tamanho de efeito. Houve diminuição estatisticamente significativa da PAS e PAD após o TC (PAS: pré= 123± 14 mmHg; pós= 114± 8 mmHg; PAD: pré= 82± 11 mmHg; pós= 74± 6 mmHg) e a AL (PAS: pré= 122± 15 mmHg; pós= 115± 10 mmHg; PAD: pré= 81± 11 mmHg; pós= 76± 10 mmHg). Houve um aumento estatisticamente significativo na RPT na CC (RPT: pré= 14,67± 3,06 mmHg·min-1·L; pós= 15,57± 2,84 mmHg·min-1·L) e uma diminuição estatisticamente significativa na RPT e BF após o TC (RPT: pré= 15,85± 4,48 mmHg·min-1·L; pós= 13,48± 4,55 mmHg·min-1·L; BF: pré= 400,86± 376,68 ms²; pós= 212,05± 252,19 ms²). Podemos concluir que tanto o TC e quanto a AL causam hipotensão em PVHIV, podendo ambas intervenções serem aplicadas para esta população a fim de melhorar a saúde cardiovascular.

ABSTRACT The emergence of HIV abruptly impacted health services in 1981, initially affecting restricted social groups. Currently, with the development of antiretroviral therapy, we are faced with a different disease from the one seen in the 80s, now with a chronic evolution. However, some barriers remain the same, such as the social, mental and physical impact of the diagnosis on the life of the person living with HIV. The objective of the present study was to verify the viral load, CD4+ lymphocyte count, and quality of life of people living with the human immunodeficiency virus. This was a cross-sectional observational research with a sample of 24 individuals of both sexes, with positive serology for HIV, in medical follow-up under antiretroviral treatment. A specific instrument was used to collect sociodemographic information. CD4+ count and HIV viral load results were collected from patients’ medical records. Quality of life (QoL) was assessed using the WHOQOL-HIV-BREF. Descriptive analysis was used to characterise the sample profile. Participants (46.8± 9.2 years) have completed high school (41.8%), with an income of one to three minimum wages (37.5%). They present a three-year diagnosis and CD4 lymphocyte count above 500 mm3 of blood (75%). Regarding QoL, the participants had a higher average for the physical domain (26.7± 5.3) and lower averages for the environment domains (10.9± 2.7) and social relationships (12.2± 2.8). The study concludes that the people living with HIV who participated in the study are young adults, with low income and level of education, with a low quality of life in relation to the environment and social relations domains.

RESUMO O surgimento do HIV impactou os serviços de saúde abruptamente em 1981, inicialmente afetando grupos sociais restritos. Atualmente, com o desenvolvimento da terapia antirretroviral, nos deparamos com uma doença diferente da encarada na década de 80, agora com uma evolução crônica. Todavia, algumas barreiras permanecem as mesmas, como o impacto social, mental e físico do diagnóstico na vida da pessoa que vive com HIV. O objetivo do presente estudo é verificar carga viral, contagem de linfócitos CD4+, e qualidade de vida de pessoas que vivem com o vírus da imunodeficiência humana. A presente pesquisa trata-se de um estudo observacional transversal com amostra de 24 indivíduos de ambos os sexos, com sorologia positiva para HIV, em acompanhamento médico sob tratamento antirretroviral. Foi utilizado um instrumento próprio para a coleta de informações sociodemográficas. Os resultados de contagem de CD4+ e a Carga Viral do HIV foram coletados dos prontuários médicos dos pacientes. A Qualidade de vida (QV) foi avaliada através do WHOQOL-HIV-BREF. Foi utilizada a análise descritiva para a caracterização do perfil da amostra. Os participantes (46,8± 9,2 anos) possuem ensino médio completo (41,8%), com renda de um a três salários mínimos (37,5%). Apresentam de um a três anos de diagnóstico e contagem de linfócitos CD4 acima de 500 mm3 de sangue (75%). Em relação à QV, os participantes apresentaram média mais alta para o domínio físico (26,7± 5,3) e mais baixa para os domínios de meio ambiente (10,9± 2,7) e relações sociais (12,2± 2,8). O estudo conclui que as pessoas que vivem com HIV participantes do estudo são adultos jovens, com renda e nível de escolaridade baixas, apresentam baixa qualidade de vida em relação aos domínios meio ambiente e relações sociais.

ABSTRACT Given the chronicity of HIV infection, psychosocial factors emerge as potentiators for the elevation of stress levels in PLHIV, as well as for the immunological imbalance and elevation of the viral load. The present research objective was to evaluate the stress level, TCD4+ lymphocyte count and viral load of people living with HIV undergoing ART, treated at a public university hospital. This was an observational, cross-sectional research with 25 patients (40.76 years± 9.88 years) living with HIV treated at the outpatient clinic of a public hospital in Rio de Janeiro. A sociodemographic questionnaire was used to characterise the sample. Stress was evaluated through the LIPP Stress Symptom Inventory and observed in recent laboratory tests. Stress was identified in 68% of the participants, with a predominance of physical symptoms and a resistance phase. There was a higher prevalence of stress in people with low socioeconomic status, unemployment and recent diagnosis. Lower levels of CD4+ T lymphocytes or higher viral load were not observed in people with stress.

RESUMO Diante da cronificação da infecção pelo HIV, fatores psicossociais surgem como potencializadores para elevação dos níveis de estresse nas PVHIV, bem como para o desequilíbrio imunológico e elevação da carga viral. O objetivo da presente pesquisa foi avaliar o nível de estresse, a contagem de linfócitos TCD4 + e a carga viral de pessoas vivendo com HIV submetidas a TARV, atendidas em um hospital público universitário. Tratou-se de um estudo observacional, transversal com 25 pacientes (40,76 anos± 9,88 anos) que vivem com HIV atendidos no ambulatório de um hospital público do Rio de Janeiro. Foi utilizado um questionário sociodemográfico para caracterização da amostra, o estresse foi avaliado através do Inventário de Sintomas de Stress de LIPP e observados exames laboratoriais recentes. Foi identificado estresse em 68% dos participantes, com predomínio de sintomas físicos e fase de resistência. Houve maior prevalência de estresse em pessoas com baixo nível socioeconômico, desemprego e diagnóstico recente. Não foram observados menores níveis de linfócitos TCD4 + ou maior carga viral nas pessoas com estresse.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors associated with negative Health Perception and Quality of Life (QoL) of older adults. This was a cross-sectional study composed of 224 older adults with a median age of 70.58±6.43 years old. A questionnaire was designed to incorporate ABEP (socio-economic questionnaire), WHOQOL-bref, IPAQ, and Senior Fitness Test (SFT). Binary logistic regression with p>0.05, organized in univariate and multivariate models in SPSS version 22. Variables upper extremities poor flexibility OR = 2.43 (1.37 - 4.31) and lower extremities poor flexibility OR = 2.69 (1.54 - 4.69) were significantly associated with negative health perception. Being not financial responsible OR= 0.33 (0.12 - 0.85) presented lower odds of negative QoL perception. The variable Lower extremities poor flexibility univariate OR= 2.52 (1.45 - 4.39) and multivariate model OR= 2.42 (1.38 - 4.24) showed almost three times higher probabilities of negative QoL perception.

RESUMO Avaliar a relação do nível de atividade física com o perfil antropométrico, percepção de qualidade de vida e saúde mental em policiais militares do Estado de Sergipe (PM/SE). Estudo transversal que contou com 30 policiais militares do sexo masculino, com idade entre 28 a 40 anos. Utilizaram o pedômetro durante quatro dias, posteriormente responderam questionários sobre: Dados Demográficos, Antropométricos e Ocupacionais; IPAQ versão curta; WHOQOL; Escala de Ansiedade, Depressão e Estresse. Apresentaram, prevalência de policiais ativos (70%) e não apresentam sintomas para problemas que afetem a saúde mental. 66,67% relataram boa percepção e qualidade de vida e 70% estavam satisfeitos com sua saúde. Houve correlação do nível de atividade física com o estresse no dia de serviço e no primeiro dia de folga com indicadores de qualidade de vida. Houve correlação do nível de atividade do primeiro dia de folga com os domínios Físico (R=0,411; p<0,05) e do Meio Ambiente (R=0,511; p<0,05). Apresentou-se bons níveis de saúde mental. Quanto ao nível de atividade física, percebeu-se relação positiva do dia de serviço com a variável estresse. Houve relações positivas do nível de atividade do primeiro dia de folga com os domínios Físico e Meio Ambiente a respeito da Qualidade de Vida.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the level of physical activity and the anthropometric profile, perception of quality of life, and mental health in military police officers from the State of Sergipe (PM / SE). This cross-sectional study involved 30 male military police officers, aged 28 to 40 years. They used the pedometer for four days, then answered questionnaires about: Demographic, Anthropometric, and Occupational Data; IPAQ short version; WHOQOL; Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scale. They had a prevalence of active police (70%) and had no symptoms for problems that affect mental health. 66.67% reported good perception and quality of life, and 70% were satisfied with their health. There was a correlation between the level of physical activity and stress on the day of service and the first day off with quality-of-life indicators. There was a correlation between the activity level of the first day off with the Physical (R = 0.411; p <0.05) and the Environment (R = 0.511; p <0.05) domains. Good levels of mental health were presented. As for the level of physical activity, there was a positive relationship between the day of service and the stress variable. There were positive relationships between the activity level of the first day off and the Physical and Environment domains regarding Quality of Life.

Objective: to carry out an analysis of the consequences for mental health arising from the period of social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic and to foreshadow coping strategies to minimize them. Methodology: this is an integrative literature review, carried out based on the search for scientific publications indexed in the databases: MEDLINE via PubMed, Europe PMC, Lilacs and SciELO. The following descriptors were used: COVID-19, social isolation, pandemics and mental health. At the end of the searches, 49 publications met the eligibility criteria and were selected to compose the study. Results: in view of the findings extracted from the selected studies, it was noticed that individuals subjected to social isolation are more susceptible to presenting mental health disorders, due to deprivation and social restraint, with symptoms of psychological distress, especially related to stress, anxiety and depression. Conclusion: this study allowed us to reflect on the need to ensure clear and informative communication on strategies to reduce these symptoms of psychological distress, in addition to providing fundamental psychological and social support for these vulnerable individuals.

Objetivo: llevar a cabo un análisis de las consecuencias para la salud mental derivadas del período de aislamiento social durante la pandemia de COVID-19 y presagiar estrategias de afrontamiento para minimizarlas. Metodología: se trata de una revisión bibliográfica integradora, realizada en base a la búsqueda de publicaciones científicas indexadas en las bases de datos: MEDLINE a través de PubMed, Europa PMC, Lilacs y SciELO. Se utilizaron los siguientes descriptores: COVID-19, aislamiento social, pandemias y salud mental. Al final de las búsquedas, 49 publicaciones cumplieron con los criterios de elegibilidad y fueron seleccionadas para componer el estudio. Resultados: En vista de los hallazgos extraídos de los estudios seleccionados, se observó que las personas sometidas a aislamiento social son más susceptibles a presentar trastornos de salud mental, debido a la privación y la restricción social, con síntomas de angustia psicológica, especialmente relacionados con el estrés, la ansiedad y depresión. Conclusión: este estudio nos permitió reflexionar sobre la necesidad de garantizar una comunicación clara e informativa sobre las estrategias para reducir estos síntomas de angustia psicológica, además de proporcionar un apoyo psicológico y social fundamental para estas personas vulnerables.

Objetivo: realizar uma análise sobre as consequências na saúde mental advindas do período de isolamento social durante a pandemia de COVID-19 e de prenunciar estratégias de enfrentamento para minimizá-las. Metodologia: trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, realizada a partir da busca por publicações científicas indexadas nas bases de dados: MEDLINE via PubMed, Europe PMC, Lilacs e SciELO. Os seguintes descritores foram utilizados: COVID-19, isolamento social, pandemias e saúde mental. Ao final das buscas, 49 publicações atenderam aos critérios de elegibilidade e foram selecionadas para compor o estudo. Resultados: diante dos achados extraídos dos estudos selecionados, percebeu-se que os indivíduos submetidos ao isolamento social estão mais suscetíveis a apresentar transtornos de saúde mental, devido à privação e contenção social, surgindo sintomas de sofrimento psíquico, em especial, relacionado ao estresse, ansiedade e depressão. Conclusão: este estudo permitiu refletir sobre a necessidade de garantir uma comunicação clara e informativa sobre estratégias para redução desses sintomas de sofrimento psíquico, além de fornecer o suporte psicológico e social fundamental para esses indivíduos em vulnerabilidade.

Abstract Aim: To investigate the hypothesis that the resistance exercise (RE) may be safer if the blood pressure (BP) is properly controlled through antihypertensive pharmacological treatment in hypertensive middle-aged women. Methods: The final sample was comprised of 19 hypertensive women, with an average age of 58±5 years and a body mass index of 29±5 Kg/m2. They were divided into three groups: controlled (n=6), uncompensated (n=8), and untreated (n=5). The subjects from all groups were submitted to a test of maximal strength on extensor chair and held a session of RE (knee extension, 3x12 to 60% 1RM) and the cardiovascular response (BP and heart rate) was monitored continuously by photoplethysmography during exercise and until five minutes after exercise (recovery). Results: Systolic BP (SBP) and diastolic BP (DBP) responses were lower in the controlled group compared to the other groups (p<0.05). The heart rate was not different between groups, while the double product was lower in the controlled group compared to the untreated group (p<0.05). The SBP and DBP peaks were lower in the controlled group compared to the other groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: The BP increases significantly during RE when the hypertension is not controlled. Pharmacological control was shown to be effective in preventing the increase of BP during the performance of the RE.

Resumo A matrícula ou inserção de idosos em Programas Comunitários de Atividade Física não garante sua permanência ao longo do tempo. Objetivou-se analisar o tempo de permanência em idosos participantes de um Programa Comunitário de Atividade Física e seus fatores associados. Estudo observacional epidemiológico de coorte retrospectiva, realizado no Nordeste do Brasil, com amostra de 526 idosos (477 do sexo feminino), apresentando 66,4 ± 5,4 anos. Para caracterização do perfil e permanência da amostra foi utilizado estatística descritiva. Para analisar o tempo de permanência utilizou-se o estimador de sobrevivência não paramétrico Kaplan-Meier. Para verificar a associação entre as variáveis no tempo observado foi aplicado o modelo de regressão de Cox. Utilizou-se a análise inversa (1/OR) para facilitar a compreensão dos valores significativos quando necessário. Em todas as análises foi utilizado o intervalo de confiança de 95% e p≤0,05. Os primeiros três meses apresentaram uma taxa de permanência de 58,1% (IC95% = 54,6 – 61,3), com Estimativa de Risco = 41,82%. O sexo feminino apresentou chance de permanência de 45% (OR = 0,69; IC95% = 0,51 – 0,93) e os sujeitos identificados com osteoporose apresentaram 32% mais chances de permanência (OR = 0,74; IC95% = 0,60 – 0,91). Apenas 1% dos sujeitos permaneceram até o fim da coorte. A taxa de permanência foi baixa ao longo da série; O período onde houve maior desistência foi o 3º e o 12º mês, estando associados à permanência o sexo feminino e osteoporose não diagnosticada.

Abstract The registration or insertion of older adults in Community Physical Activity Programs does not guarantee their stay over time. The purpose of this study was to analyze the length of stay of elderly in a Community Physical Activity Program and associated factors. This epidemiologic observational study of retrospective cohort performed in Aracaju City, Brazil, included a sample of 526 older adults (477 females) aged 66.4 ± 5.4 years. To characterize the profile and length of stay of individuals, descriptive statistics was used. To analyze the length of stay, the Kaplan-Meier non-parametric survival, estimator was used. To verify the association between variables in the observed time, the Cox regression model was applied. Inverse ratio equation (1/OR) was used to facilitate the understanding of significant values when necessary. In all analyses, 95% confidence interval and p≤0.05 were used. In the first three months, stay rate of 58.1% (95% CI = 54.6 - 61.3) was observed, with a risk estimative = 41.82%. Females presented a 45% chance of stay (OR = 0.69; 95% CI = 0.51 – 0.93) and individuals identified with osteoporosis had 32% more chances of stay (OR = 0.74, 95% CI, = 0.60-0.91). Only 1% of subjects remained until the end of the cohort. The stay rate was low throughout all series; the period with higher quitting rates was the 3rd and the 12th months, being associated with the female stay sex and undiagnosed osteoporosis.
