ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Residents play the role of teachers in almost one-quarter of their activities in residency programs. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether a 45-minute class using summarize, narrow, analyze, probe, plan, and select (SNAPPS) could improve psychiatry residents’ case discussion skills in diverse practical learning settings. DESIGN AND SETTING: This case-control, randomized, blinded study was conducted in a psychiatry hospital at Fortaleza-Ceará. METHODS: Using “resident as teacher” (RaT), objective structured teaching encounters (OSTEs), and SNAPPS, we conducted a study with 26 psychiatry residents. We analyzed video footage of psychiatric cases in three settings: outpatient, nursing, and emergency. An intervention was held two months later with the residents, who were then assigned to two groups: group A (lecture on SNAPPS) and group B (lecture on a topics in psychiatry). Shortly after the lectures, they were video recorded while discussing the same cases. Three blinded examiners analyzed the videos using an instrument based on the Stanford Faculty Development Program (SFDP-26). RESULTS: We found high internal consistency among external examiners and an interaction effect, group effect, and moment effect (P < 0.05). The residents who received the SNAPPS lecture scored significantly higher than their counterparts who received a traditional case presentation. CONCLUSION: This study indicates the efficacy of SNAPPS over traditional case presentation in all three settings as assessed by OSTEs and supports its implementation to improve the teaching of clinical reasoning.

ABSTRACT Objective: To assess the feasibility of incorporating technology as a new alternative for treating topics on cervical lesions. Method: This is a randomized, double-blind, controlled clinical trial with a prospective design. During the realization of this study, 43 women were included and divided between groups A (ointment without silver nanoparticles n = 23) and B (ointment with silver nanoparticles n = 20) clinically healthy and who used the unified health system. Results: There were no significant differences when comparing before and after the use of ointment for IVA test (p = 0.15), Schiller test (p = 0.15), cellular changes (p = 0.47) and microbiological analysis (p = 0.89) through cytology. After use, no adverse reaction was observed in the sample studied. Conclusion: Based on the results identified in this study, identified that the product is safe and does not promote adverse events. RESUMEN Objetivo: evaluar la viabilidad de la incorporación de la tecnología como una nueva alternativa para el tratamiento de temas sobre lesiones cervicales. Método: Se trata de un ensayo clínico aleatorizado, doble ciego, controlado y con un diseño prospectivo. Durante la realización de este estudio se incluyeron 43 mujeres divididas entre los grupos A (pomada sin nanopartículas de plata n = 23) y B (pomada con nanopartículas de plata n = 20) clínicamente sanas y usuarias del sistema unificado de salud. Resultados: No hubo diferencias significativas al comparar antes y después del uso de la pomada para la prueba de IVA (p = 0,15), la prueba de Schiller (p = 0,15), los cambios celulares (p = 0,47) y el análisis microbiológico (p = 0,89) mediante citología. Tras el uso, no se observó ninguna reacción adversa en la muestra estudiada. Conclusiones: Con base en los resultados identificados en este estudio, se identificó que el producto es seguro y no promueve eventos adversos. RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a viabilidade da incorporação da tecnologia como uma nova alternativa para o tratamento de lesões cervicais. Método: Trata-se de um ensaio clínico randomizado, duplo-cego e controlado com um desenho prospectivo. Durante a realização deste estudo, foram incluídas 43 mulheres, divididas entre os grupos A (pomada sem nanopartículas de prata n = 23) e B (pomada com nanopartículas de prata n = 20), clinicamente saudáveis e usuárias do sistema único de saúde. Resultados: Não houve diferenças significativas na comparação entre antes e depois do uso da pomada para o teste IVA (p = 0,15), teste de Schiller (p = 0,15), alterações celulares (p = 0,47) e análise microbiológica (p = 0,89) por meio de citologia. Após o uso, não foi observada nenhuma reação adversa na amostra estudada. Conclusões: Com base nos resultados identificados neste estudo, identificou-se que o produto é seguro e não promove eventos adversos. Abstract Objective Breast cancer (BC) biomarkers, such as hormone receptors expression, are crucial to guide therapy in BC patients. Antiandrogens have been studied in BC; however, limited data are available on androgen receptor (AR) expression test methodology. We aim to report the core needle biopsy (CNB) accuracy for AR expression in BC. Methods Patients diagnosed with stage I-III invasive BC from a single institution were included. Androgen receptor expression was evaluated by immunohistochemistry (IHC) using 1 and 10% cutoff and the AR expression in surgical specimens (SS) was the gold standard. Kappa coefficients were used to evaluate the intraprocedural agreement. Results A total of 72 patients were included, with a mean age of 61 years old and 84% were Luminal A or B tumors. The prevalence of AR expression in all BC samples was 87.5% using a cutoff ≥ 10% in SS. With a cutoff value ≥ 1%, CNB had an accuracy of 95.8% (Kappa value = 0.645; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.272–1.000; p< 0.001) and 86.1% (Kappa value = 0.365; 95% CI: 0.052–0.679; p< 0.001) when ≥ 10% cutoff was used for AR positivity. Androgen receptor expression in CNB (cutoff ≥ 1%) had a sensitivity of 98.5%, specificity of 60%, positive predictive value of 97.0%, and a negative predictive value of 76.9% in the detection of AR expression in SS. Conclusion Core needle biopsy has good accuracy in evaluating AR expression in BC. The accuracy of CNB decreases with higher cutoff values for AR positivity.

Resumo Objetivo Biomarcadores, como a expressão de receptores hormonais, são cruciais para guiar a terapia de pacientes com câncer de mama. Apesar de ter sido estudado, poucos dados estão disponíveis sobre o método de testagem. Buscamos avaliar a precisão da biópsia com agulha de grande calibre (CNB, na sigla em inglês) para a expressão de receptores androgênicos (AR, na sigla em inglês) no câncer de mama. Métodos Foram incluídos pacientes de uma única instituição diagnosticados com câncer de mama invasivo estágio I-III. A expressão de AR foi avaliada por imunohistoquímica, com valores de cutoff de 1 e 10%. A expressão de AR em espécimes cirúrgicos foi o padrão ouro. O coeficiente Kappa foi usado para avaliar a concordância entre procedimentos. Resultados Foi incluído um total de 72 pacientes, com idade média de 61 anos; 84% eram tumores luminais A ou B. A prevalência da expressão de AR em todas as amostras foi de 87.5%, com cutoff ≥ 10%. Com um valor de cutoff ≥ 1%, a CNB teve precisão de 95.8% (Kappa = 0.64; intervalo de confiança [IC] 95%: 0.272–1.000; p< 0.001) e 86.1% (Kappa = 0.365; CI95%: 0.052–0.679]; p< 0.001) quando um cutoff ≥ 10% foi usado para AR positivo. A expressão de AR na CNB (cutoff ≥ 1%) teve a sensibilidade de 98.5%, especificidade de 60%, valor preditivo positivo de 97.0% e valor preditivo negativo de 76.9% na detecção. Conclusão |Biópsia com agulha de grande calibre tem uma boa precisão em avaliar a expressão de AR no câncer de mama. A precisão do método cai com valores elevados de cutoff para AR positivo.

Abstract This study aimed to verify the need for minerals and vitamins to increase the production of cell mass by acetic acid bacteria (AAB) isolated from the vinegar industry (086/06) and standard strain (Acetobacter aceti CCT 2565). Five minerals (Mo, B, Zn, Fe, and Mn) and eight vitamins (p-aminobenzoic acid, thiamine, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, cyanocobalamin, and inositol) were tested in a fractional factorial design. To prepare the inoculum, different compositions of MYP (mannitol, yeast, and peptone) medium were tested. The most adequate medium was mannitol 25 g/L, yeast extract 0.625 g/L, and peptone 0.375 g/L. Through contour curves, it was determined that strain 086/06 needed supplementation with minerals Mo, B and Mn and vitamins p-aminobenzoic acid, pyridoxine and cyanocobalamin. Standard strain CCT 2565 needed supplementation of all minerals and vitamins studied, except inositol. The lower requirement of micronutrients for high cell multiplication of the 086/06 strain may be related to the adaptation of strain 086/06 to industrial production conditions.

Abstract Because it promotes the lightening of pigment spots, tyrosinase inhibition is one of the mechanisms of depigmenting cosmetic products. Considering the adverse effects produced by synthetic depigmenting actives, the search for new therapeutic options is desirable, and plant extracts are possible candidates for hyperpigmentation treatment. Glycolic extracts of Cecropia pachystachya Trécul are, therefore, the focus of this study. Its chemical characterization, antioxidant activity, tyrosinase inhibition, and cell viability were evaluated. Glycolic extracts were obtained by macerating the leaves of C. pachystachya in grain alcohol and glycerin or propylene glycol. Both had a similar chemical constitution, the glycerin being more efficient in concentrating phenolic compounds and flavonoids. Analyses by UHPLC-MS detected quinic acid, chlorogenic acid isomers, proanthocyanidin dimers type B and C, catechin/epicatechin, orientin/isoorientin, isoorientin 2”-O-xyloside, vitexin/isovitexin, and rutin. 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid was then quantified was then quantified, with predominance in the extract produced with propylene glycol. These extracts showed a high antioxidant capacity by the method of DPPH, β-carotene, and nitric oxide. As for depigmenting activity, both extracts were able to inhibit tyrosinase. Cell viability assay also revealed that the extracts could safely be used in concentrations of ≤ 125 µg/mL. Thus, this study demonstrated for the first time that the glycolic extracts of C. pachystachya have promising chemical and biological characteristics for the development of a multifunctional cosmetic with antioxidant and tyrosinase-inhibition activities.

Abstract To evaluate possible new drugs for the treatment of Colorectal Carcinoma (CRC) using in silico tools was the main objective of this study. The method of analysis used was the in silico evaluation of tumor markers and their interaction with selected drugs, through the study of its pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics. A potential therapeutic target pointed out in this study was the Cell Division Cycle 25 B (CDC25B), belonging to the CDC25 phosphatase family. Overexpression of CDC25 phosphatases is often associated with a wide variety of cancers. In addition, CDC25B is an oncogenic protein that induces neoplastic transformation. In CRC, CDC25B is overexpressed to activate the CDC2/cyclin B complex and improve the growth and survival of these tumors. Four drugs were identified for evaluation, with α-amyrin being selected for docking, because it was that had the best characteristics according to the methodology used. The α-amyrin ligand obtained the interaction energy value of -7.6 G (Kcal/mol), while the standard CDC25B ligand obtained -10.0 G (Kcal/mol). TThe results showed that the CDC25B protein was the only structure cocrystallized with α-amyrin and presented favorable outcomes in docking, being a candidate for further studies for its use in the CRC targeted therapy.

ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate the biomechanical properties of a novel total hip replacement femoral stem. Methods Eight pairs of femurs from dog cadavers were used. The femurs were separated into different groups. A novel femoral stem with a convex proximal portion (Stem B) was biomechanically evaluated and compared to awell-known veterinary collared stem (Stem A). Femoral stems were inserted into the contralateral femurs from the same dog, forming 16 constructs. A flexo-compression load was applied on the axial axis of each sample. Maximum strength, deflection, stiffness, and energy absorption were analysed. Results Group B constructs showed significantly higher values (p ? 0.05) for the variables, except stiffness. The mean maximum strength was 1,347 ± 357 N for Group A and 1,805 ± 123 N for Group B (p ? 0.0069). The mean deflection was5.54 ± 2.63 mm for Group A and 10.03 ± 3.99 mm for Group B (p ? 0.0056). For the energy variable, the force was 6,203 ± 3,488 N/mm for Group A and 12,885 ± 5,056 N/mm for Group B (p ? 0.0054). Stem B had greater maximum strength, deflection, and energy. Conclusions The new stem was effective in neutralizing the impact of axial flexion-compression stresses during biomechanical tests in cadaveric models.

Resumo Fundamento: A COVID-19 causa grave acometimento pulmonar, porém o sistema cardiovascular também pode ser afetado por miocardite, insuficiência cardíaca e choque. A elevação de biomarcadores cardíacos tem sido associada a um pior prognóstico. Objetivos: Avaliar o valor prognóstico da Troponina T (TnT) e do peptídeo natriurético tipo B (BNP) em pacientes internados por Covid-19. Métodos: Amostra de conveniência de pacientes hospitalizados por COVID-19. Foram coletados dados dos prontuários com o objetivo de avaliar a relação da TnT e o BNP medidos nas primeiras 24h de admissão com o desfecho combinado (DC) óbito ou necessidade de ventilação mecânica. Análise univariada comparou os grupos com e sem DC. Modelo multivariado de Cox foi utilizada para determinar preditores independentes do DC. Resultados: Avaliamos 183 pacientes (idade=66,8±17 anos, sendo 65,6% do sexo masculino). Tempo de acompanhamento foi de 7 dias (1 a 39 dias). O DC ocorreu em 24% dos pacientes. As medianas de TnT e BNP foram 0,011 e 0,041 ng/dl (p<0,001); 64 e 198 pg/dl (p<0,001) respectivamente para os grupos sem e com DC. Na análise univariada, além de TnT e BNP, idade, presença de doença coronariana, saturação de oxigênio, linfócitos, dímero-D, proteína C reativa titulada (PCR-t) e creatinina, foram diferentes entre os grupos com e sem desfechos. Na análise multivariada boostraped apenas TnT (1,12[IC95%1,03-1,47]) e PCR-t (1,04[IC95%1,00-1,10]) foram preditores independentes do DC. Conclusão: Nas primeiras 24h de admissão, TnT, mas não o BNP, foi marcador independente de mortalidade ou necessidade de ventilação mecânica invasiva. Este dado reforça ainda mais a importância clínica do acometimento cardíaco da COVID-19. (AArq Bras Cardiol. 2020; 115(4):660-666)

Abstract Background: COVID-19 causes severe pulmonary involvement, but the cardiovascular system can also be affected by myocarditis, heart failure and shock. The increase in cardiac biomarkers has been associated with a worse prognosis. Objectives: To evaluate the prognostic value of Troponin-T (TNT) and natriuretic peptide (BNP) in patients hospitalized for Covid-19. Methods: This was a convenience sample of patients hospitalized for COVID-19. Data were collected from medical records to assess the association of TnT and BNP measured in the first 24 hours of hospital admission with the combined outcome (CO) of death or need for mechanical ventilation. Univariate analysis was used to compare the groups with and without the CO. Cox's multivariate model was used to determine independent predictors of the CO. Results: We evaluated 183 patients (age = 66.8±17 years, 65.6% of which were males). The time of follow-up was 7 days (range 1 to 39 days). The CO occurred in 24% of the patients. The median troponin-T and BNP levels were 0.011 and 0.041ng/dL (p <0.001); 64 and 198 pg/dL (p <0.001), respectively, for the groups without and with the CO. In the univariate analysis, in addition to TnT and BNP, age, presence of coronary disease, oxygen saturation, lymphocytes, D-dimer, t-CRP and creatinine, were different between groups with and without outcomes. In the bootstrap multivariate analysis, only TnT (1.12 [95% CI 1.03-1.47]) and t-CRP (1.04 [95% CI 1.00-1.10]) were independent predictors of the CO. Conclusion: In the first 24h of admission, TnT, but not BNP, was an independent marker of mortality or need for invasive mechanical ventilation. This finding further reinforces the clinical importance of cardiac involvement in COVID-19. (Arq Bras Cardiol. 2020; 115(4):660-666)

RESUMO A cirurgia paraendodontica é um procedimento que visa resolver problemas que nao poderiam ser resolvidos, ou quando nao é possível realizar o tratamento endodontico convencional. O objetivo deste estudo experimental foi comparar a microinfiltragao apical de dentes seccionados a 45° ou 90° em relagao ao longo eixo do dente e extremidade radicularpreenchida com agregado de trióxido mineral (MTA) utilizando estereomicroscopia. Neste estudo, 26 incisivos centrais superiores foram utilizados. Limpeza e modelagem foram realizadas com o uso da técnica de Oregon e as amostras foram divididas aleatoriamente em dois grupos. No Grupo A (n = 10) foi realizada segao apical em ángulo de 90°, realizando retrocavidade com ponta ultrassonica e retrobturagao com MTA. No grupo B (n = 10), os mesmos procedimentos foram realizados, mas a segao apical estava em um ángulo de 45°. Em seguida, as amostras foram imersas em um corante (nanquim), colocadas em estufa a 37°Cpor 48 h, antes da aplicagao da técnica de clareamento. Posteriormente, os dentes foram avaliados por estereomicroscópio, com aumento de 20x, para análise do vazamento de corante. Os dados foram submetidos ao teste t de Student, com nivel de significáncia p <0,05. Houve diferenga estatisticamente significante entre os grupos. O grupo B apresentou maiores valores de microinfil-tragao apical em comparagao ao grupo A (P = 0,004), mas ambos os grupos apresentaram vazamento de corante. Os resultados mostraram que a segao apical de 90° promoveu menores valores de microinfiltragao de corante na interface do material retrobturador dentinário do que a segao 45° e pode ser considerada a técnica mais efetiva para preparo apical em cirurgia paraendodontica.

ABSTRACT Paraendodontic surgery is a procedure that aims to solve problems that could not be solved by, or when it is not possible to perform conventional endodontic treatment. The aim of this experimental study was to compare the apical microleakage of teeth sectioned at 45° or 90° to the long axis of the tooth and root-end filled with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) using stereomicroscopy. In this study, 26 maxillary central incisors were used. Cleaning and shaping were performed with use of the Oregon technique and the samples were randomly divided into two groups. In Group A (n=10) apical section was performed at an angle of 90°, making a retrocavity with an ultrasonic tip and retrofilling with MTA. In group B (n=10) the same procedures were performed, but the apical section was at a 45° angle. Then the samples were immersed in a dye (India ink), placed in an oven at 37° for 48 h before applying the clearing technique. Afterwards the teeth were assessed by stereomicroscope at 20x magnification to analyze dye leakage. Data were submitted to the Student's-t test with significance level p<0.05. There was statistically significant difference between groups. Group B showed higher apical microleakage values compared with group A (P=0.004), but both groups showed dye leakage. The results showed that the 90° apical section promoted lower dye microleakage values at the dentin-retrofilling material interface than the 45°-section and could be considered the most effective technique for apical preparation in paraendodontic surgery.

Recombinant human interferon beta 1b (rhIFNβ-1b) is clinically used to treat multiple sclerosis. A reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RP-LC) method was carried out on a Jupiter C4 column (250 mm × 4.6 mm i.d.). The mobile phase A consisted of 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) in water, and the mobile phase B was acetonitrile with 0.1% TFA run at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. A size exclusion liquid chromatography (SE-LC) method was carried out on a BioSep-SEC-S 2000 column (300 mm × 7.8 mm i.d.). The mobile phase consisted of 1 mM monobasic potassium phosphate, 8 mM sodium phosphate dibasic and 200 mM sodium chloride buffer pH 7.4, run isocratically at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. Retention times were 31.87 and 17.78 min, and calibration curves were linear over the concentration range of 1-200 µg/mL (r2 = 0.9998) and 0.50-200 µg/mL (r2 = 0.9999), respectively, for RP-LC and SE-LC, with detection at 214 nm. Liquid chromatography (LC) methods were validated and employed in conjunction with the in vitro bioassay to assess the content/potency of rhIFNβ-1b, contributing to improve the quality control and to ensure the efficacy of the biotherapeutic.

Resumo Contexto Atualmente, observa-se um esforço mundial para aumento do número de acessos autógenos para hemodiálise. Objetivos Avaliar a perviedade e as complicações da transposição da veia braquial em comparação aos outros acessos autógenos para hemodiálise. Métodos Avaliação retrospectiva de 43 pacientes, com 45 procedimentos. Os pacientes que não apresentaram veias do sistema venoso superficial adequadas ao Duplex Scan pré-operatório foram submetidos à transposição da veia braquial. Esses procedimentos foram divididos em dois grupos: A: uso da veia braquial, n = 10. B: demais acessos, n = 35. Resultados Não houve diferença estatística entre os grupos no que se refere à idade, diabetes, hipertensão arterial sistêmica, dislipidemias, arteriopatias, neoplasias, estágio da doença renal, diâmetro da artéria doadora e da veia receptora, pressão arterial sistólica no membro operado, isquemia pós-operatória, formação de hematoma e infecção. Não houve diferença quanto à perviedade aos 7 dias A: 80% vs. B: 90%, p = 0,6; aos 30 dias A: 80% vs. B: 86%, p = 0,6; e aos 60 dias A: 60% vs. B: 80%, p = 0,22. Houve diferença entre os grupos quanto ao número de fístulas prévias A: 1,0 ± 0,44 vs. B: 0,6 ± 0,3, p = 0,04; e quanto ao edema em membro superior A: 20% vs. B: 0%, p = 0,04. A veia doadora menor que 3 mm esteve associada ao maior risco de oclusão precoce (RR = 8, p = 0,0125). Nesse período, não houve nenhum procedimento com o uso de prótese sintética. Conclusões A veia braquial transposta é uma alternativa à prótese sintética.

Abstract Background There is currently a worldwide effort to increase the options for autogenous hemodialysis access. Objectives To evaluate patency and complications of brachial vein transposition compared to other autogenous hemodialysis accesses. Methods A retrospective evaluation of 43 patients and 45 procedures. Patients who did not have adequate superficial veins according to duplex scanning were allocated to brachial vein transposition. The sample was thus divided in two groups, as follows: A: brachial vein transposition n=10 and B: other autogenous accesses n=35. Results There were no statistical differences between the two groups in terms of age diabetes, systemic arterial hypertension, dyslipidemias, arteriopathies, neoplasms, kidney disease stage, donor artery diameter, recipient vein diameter, systolic blood pressure in the operated limb, postoperative ischemia, hematoma, or infection. There were no statistical differences in terms of patency on day 7: A 80% vs. B 90% p=0.6, on day 30: A 80% vs. B 86% p=0.6, or on day 60: A 60% vs. B 80% p=0.22. There were statistical differences between the groups for number of previous fistulae A 1.0 ± 0.44 vs. B 0.6 ± 0.3 p = 0.04 and upper limb edema A: 20% x B 0% p = 0.04. A vein with diameter of less than 3 mm was associated with an increased risk of early occlusion (RR = 8 p = 0.0125). During the study period there were no procedures using grafts. Conclusions Transposition of brachial vein is an alternative to arteriovenous graft.

A localized Chikungunya virus (CHIKV; East/Central/South African genotype) outbreak (50 cases, 70% laboratory-confirmed; attack rate: 5.3 confirmed cases/100 people) occurred in a Salvador, Brazil neighborhood, between Apr-Jun/2017. Highly clustered cases in space and time, mostly along a single street, highlight an increased risk of CHIKV transmission among pockets of susceptible populations. This finding underscores the need for ongoing local level surveillance for arboviral outbreaks.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar o perfil de pacientes com lesões de Lisfranc, as características das lesões e fraturas associadas. Métodos: Trata-se de uma análise retrospectiva com 42 pacientes com lesões de Lisfranc internados no Instituto de Ortopedia e Traumatologia do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo entre 2006 e 2010. O perfil dos pacientes, características das lesões, fraturas associadas, dados sobre o tratamento e complicações agudas foram analisados. Resultados: Nesta amostra, os homens foram mais afetados do que as mulheres, com uma proporção de 4,25:1. O mecanismo de trauma mais frequente foi acidente de carro, seguido por acidente com moto. O tipo de lesão mais frequente foi a lesão isolada tipo B de Quenu e Kuss, representando 50% dos casos. A fratura mais comumente encontrada foi a do segundo metatarso, com 16 casos, seguido pela fratura do osso cubóide. Entre os 42 casos estudados, sete foram fraturas expostas e 33 pacientes apresentaram fraturas associadas. O tempo médio entre o trauma e o tratamento definitivo foi de 6,7 dias. O tempo médio de permanência hospitalar foi de 13,8. Seis pacientes apresentaram complicações pós-operatórias agudas. Conclusão: As lesões de Lisfranc são mais comuns em homens submetidos a trauma automobilístico. A prevalência de fraturas associadas é um achado frequente e o tempo de permanência hospitalar pode ser prolongado. Nível de Evidência IV, Série de Casos:

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the characteristics of patients with Lisfranc injuries and their associated fractures . Methods: This is a retrospective analysis on 42 patients with Lisfranc injuries hospitalized at Instituto de Ortopedia e Traumatologia do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo, between 2006 and 2010. Parameters on patient profile, risk factors, fracture characteristics, data on treatment and acute complications were analyzed . Results: Analysis of 42 cases showed that in our sample, men were more affected than women, with a ratio of 4.25:1. The most frequent trauma mechanism was car accident, followed by motorcycle accident. The most frequent type of injury was isolated lesion type B of Quenu and Kuss classification, representing 50% of cases. The most common fracture on the sample was the second metatarsal bone, with 16 cases, followed by cuboid bone fracture. Among the 42 cases, 17% had exposed fractures and 33 patients presented other associated fractures. The mean time elapsed between the trauma and definitive treatment was 6.7 days, while the mean length of hospital stay was 13.8 days. Six patients presented acute postoperative complications . Conclusion: Lisfranc injuries are more common in men undergoing automobile trauma. The prevalence of associated fractures is a frequent finding and the hospital stay may be longstanding. RESUMO A pressão de trabalho influencia as características da pulverização hidráulica de produtos fitossanitários e pode alterar a penetração da calda no dossel da cultura da soja. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito da pressão na deposição de calda em plantas de soja, promovida por diferentes modelos de pontas de pulverização. O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 2 x 4 + 1, sendo duas pontas de pulverização (jato cônico vazio - ATR e jato cônico vazio com indução de ar - TVI) e quatro pressões de trabalho (689, 1034, 1379 e 1724 kPa), com um tratamento adicional (ponta de jato plano - API, a 448 kPa). A deposição de calda, corrigida para uma mesma taxa de aplicação (200 L ha-1), pulverizada na cultura da soja (parte superior e inferior do cultivar Vila Rica, em estádio R6), por meio de um pulverizador de barra, foi analisada, empregando-se o traçador fluorescente Rodamina B, detectado por fluorimetria. Também foi avaliado o espectro de gotas, por meio da análise de papéis hidrossensíveis. Concluiu-se que a ponta ATR, que gerou gotas de menor tamanho e mais uniformes, propiciou maior deposição do traçador do que a ponta TVI. O aumento da pressão de trabalho acarretou diminuição da deposição nas folhas da parte inferior da planta. A deposição gerada pela ponta de jato plano (API) não diferiu das geradas pelas demais pontas avaliadas.

ABSTRACT The service pressure influences the characteristics of the hydraulic spraying of pesticides and can change the spray penetration in the soybean canopy. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of pressure on the spray deposition in soybean crop, promoted by different models of spray nozzles. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design, in a factorial model 2 x 4 + 1, with two nozzles (hollow cone - ATR and hollow cone with air induction - TVI) and four service pressures (689, 1034, 1379 and 1724 kPa), with an additional treatment (flat fan nozzle at 448 kPa-API). The spray deposition on soybean (top and bottom parts of Vila Rica Cultivar R6 Stage) was analyzed using the fluorescent tracer Rhodamine B detected by fluorimetry, take into account the same spray volume (200 L ha-1). It was also evaluated the droplet spectrum, using the analysis of water sensitive papers. It was concluded that the ATR nozzle, with smaller and more uniform droplets, resulted in a higher deposition of the tracer than TVI nozzle. The pressure increase reduced deposition on the lower leaves. The deposit obtained with the flat fan nozzle (API) did not differ from those obtained by other nozzles.
