ABSTRACT The tropical forest is extremely exploited and fragmented, making it essential to collect native seeds to meet the growing demand for its restoration and maintenance of biodiversity. Thus, the objective is to select potential forest fragments with a higher degree of conservation for seed harvesting, through the use and association of landscape ecology with fuzzy logic. The study was carried out in the watershed of the Itapemirim river. The stages of selection and photointerpretation of the images were carried out; error determination; application of landscape ecology metric indices; application of fuzzy logic in a computational application and validation of the methodology in loco. 7,515 forest fragments were determined, corresponding to 19.21% of the study area, with 89.53% of hits. Fragments smaller than 5 ha are the most fragile and are at risk of extinction, while those larger than 300 ha have a lower risk of extinction, even with the increase in the edge. With the application of fuzzy logic, the mean was between 0.15, standard deviation of 0.24 and the coefficient of variation at 161.73%. Scenario 1 (FLONA of Pacotuba), has 10.25% of families, 25.92% of genera and 33.62% of species more than Scenario 2 (PEAMA Ifes Campus of Alegre), among the identified individuals. The association of landscape ecology techniques and fuzzy logic made it possible to identify fragments with a higher degree of conservation, with potential for harvesting forest seeds.

RESUMO A floresta tropical é extremamente explorada e fragmentada, sendo imprescindível a coleta de sementes nativas, a fim de atender a crescente demanda para sua restauração e manutenção da biodiversidade. Dessa forma, objetiva-se selecionar fragmentos florestais potenciais com maior grau de conservação para a colheita de sementes, via utilização e associação da ecologia da paisagem à lógica Fuzzy. O estudo foi realizado na bacia hidrográfica do rio Itapemirim. Foram realizadas as etapas de seleção e fotointerpretação das imagens; determinação do erro; aplicação dos índices métricos de ecologia da paisagem; aplicação da lógica Fuzzy em aplicativo computacional e validação da metodologia in loco. Foram determinados 7.515 fragmentos florestais, correspondendo a 19,21% da área de estudo, com 89,53% de acertos. Os fragmentos menores que 5 ha são os mais frágeis e possuem risco de extinção, enquanto os maiores que 300 ha possuem menor risco de extinção, mesmo com o aumento da borda. Com a aplicação da lógica Fuzzy, a média ficou entre 0,15, desvio padrão de 0,24 e o coeficiente de variação em 161,73 %. O Cenário 1 (FLONA de Pacotuba) possui 10,25% de famílias, 25,92 % de gêneros e 33,62% de espécies a mais que o Cenário 2 (PEAMA Ifes Campus de Alegre), entre os indivíduos identificados. A associação das técnicas de ecologia da paisagem e lógica Fuzzy possibilitou identificar os fragmentos em maior grau de conservação, com potencial para colheita de sementes florestais.

Abstract Geoprocessing techniques are generally applied in natural disaster risk management due to their ability to integrate and visualize different sets of geographic data. The objective of this study was to evaluate the capacity of classification and regression tree (CART) to assess fire risk. MCD45A1 product of the burnt area, relative to a 16-year period (2000-2015) was used to obtain a fire occurrence map, from center points of the raster, using a kernel density approach. The resulting map was then used as a response variable for CART analysis with fire influence variables used as predictors. A total of 12 predictors were determined from several databases, including environmental, physical, and socioeconomic aspects. Rules generated by the regression process allowed to of define different risk levels, expressed in 35 management units, and used to produce a fire prediction map. Results of the regression process (r = 0.94 and r² = 0.88) demonstrate the capability of the CART algorithm in highlighting hierarchical relationships among predictors, while the model’s easy interpretability provides a solid basis for decision making. This methodology can be expanded in other environmental risk analysis studies and applied to any area of the globe on a regional scale.

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the role of music as a distraction technique to minimize anxiety during dental care in children aged 7 to 9 years when submitted to local anesthetic procedure. Method: This study was carried out in the Dentistry Module of the State University of Southwestern Bahia, located in the city of Jequié, Bahia, Brazil. It was performed through the application of the Facial Image Scale, measurement of heart rate and blood pressure with the aid of the digital sphygmomanometer at two different times during pediatric dentistry care with and without the influence of classical music. Data were tabulated in the Statistical Package for Social Sciences software, version 21.0, expressed as medians and interquartile range. For inferential statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test was used and the analysis of the effect of music was calculated using the paired T-tests and Wilcoxon, considering a significance level of 95%. Results: The sample consisted of 7 children, mostly male, with a median of 8 years of age. Regarding the psychophysiological variables, no significant variations were observed compared to before and after in the groups with music and without music. Conclusion: In this study, no differences were found regarding the reduction of anxiety in the group in which music was used. Additional studies with a representative sample are needed.

RESUMO Objetivo: avaliar o papel da música como técnica de distração para minimizar a ansiedade durante o atendimento odontológico em crianças de 7 a 9 anos de idade quando submetidas a procedimento anestésico local. Métodos: Este estudo foi realizado no Módulo de Odontologia da Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia, situado na cidade de Jequié – BA. Foi realizado a partir da aplicação da Facial Image Scale, mensuração da frequência cardíaca e pressão arterial com auxílio do esfigmomanômetro digital em dois momentos distintos ao longo do atendimento em odontopediatria com e sem a influência da música clássica. Os dados foram tabulados no software Statistical Package for Social Sciences, versão 21.0, expressos como medianas e intervalo interquartílico. Para a estatística inferencial, utilizou-se o teste de normalidade Shapiro-Wilk e a análise do efeito da música foi calculada utilizando os testes T-pareado e o Wilcoxon, considerando nível de significância de 95%. Resultados: A amostra foi constituída por 7 crianças, pertencendo sua maioria ao sexo masculino, com uma mediana de 8 anos de idade. Em relação às variáveis psicofisiológicas, não foram observadas variações significativas em comparação ao antes e depois nos grupos com música e sem música. Conclusões: Neste estudo não foram encontradas diferenças no que diz respeito à redução da ansiedade no grupo em que a música foi utilizada, havendo necessidade de estudos adicionais, com amostra representativa.

Abstract Copper (Cu) is a micronutrient necessary for plant development, as it is included in the structure of enzymatic compounds and activators. However, at high soil concentrations it can become toxic to plant metabolism. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the growth and tolerance of Ilex paraguariensis seedlings grown in copper contaminated soil. The study was conducted in a greenhouse of the Department of Forestry Engineering, Federal University of Santa Maria, Campus Frederico Westphalen, RS, between March and September 2018. The seedlings of Ilex paraguariensis used in the experiment were acquired from a nursery located in the municipality of Arvorezinha, RS. The treatments applied were five doses of Cu (0 - control, without addition of copper; 100; 200; 300 and 400 mg Kg-1 of soil). The experiment was carried out in a completely randomized design with 10 replications, each repetition being one plant per pot. After exposure to different treatments under soil cultivation at 150 days, plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, root, stem and leaf dry mass and tolerance index were evaluated. The results showed that the copper doses reduced the seedlings height and stem diameter. The dry mass of all collected partitions showed reduction from the use of 200 mg kg-1 of soil. The plants submitted to higher Cu (400 mg kg-1 soil) showed a reduction in leaf area of 64.7% in relation to the control. The species Ilex paraguariensis presented a tolerance index higher than 60% up to 300 mg kg-1 Cu.

Resumo O cobre (Cu) é um micronutriente necessário ao desenvolvimento das plantas, pois está incluído na estrutura de compostos enzimáticos e ativadores. Contudo, em altas concentrações no solo pode se tornar tóxico ao metabolismo vegetal. Dessa forma, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o crescimento e tolerância de mudas de Ilex paraguariensis cultivadas em solo contaminado com cobre. O estudo foi conduzido em casa de vegetação do Departamento de Engenharia Florestal, Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Campus de Frederico Westphalen, RS, entre os meses de março e setembro de 2018. As mudas de Ilex paraguariensis utilizadas no experimento foram adquiridas de um viveiro localizado no município de Arvorezinha, RS. Os tratamentos aplicados foram cinco doses de Cu (0 - controle, sem adição de cobre; 100; 200; 300 e 400 mg Kg-1 de solo). O experimento foi implantado em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com 10 repetições, sendo cada repetição uma planta por vaso. Após a exposição aos diferentes tratamentos, sob cultivo em solo aos 150 dias, avaliou-se a altura de planta, diâmetro do caule, área foliar, massa seca de raiz, caule e folhas e índice de tolerância. Os resultados evidenciaram que as doses de cobre reduziram a altura e diâmetro de caule das mudas. A massa seca de todas as partições coletadas mostrou redução a partir da utilização de 200 mg kg-1 de solo. As plantas submetidas a maior dose de Cu (400 mg kg-1 de solo) apresentaram redução na área foliar de 64,7% em relação à testemunha. A espécie Ilex paraguariensis apresentou o índice de tolerância superior a 60% até a dose de 300 mg kg-1 de Cu.

ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the effects of balanced solution use on the short-term outcomes of patients with traumatic brain injury enrolled in BaSICS trial. Methods: Patients were randomized to receive either 0.9% saline or balanced solution during their intensive care unit stay. The primary endpoint was 90-day mortality, and the secondary outcomes were days alive and free of intensive care unit stay at 28 days. The primary endpoint was assessed using Bayesian logistic regression. The secondary endpoint was assessed using a Bayesian zero-inflated beta binomial regression. Results: We included 483 patients (236 in the 0.9% saline arm and 247 in the balanced solution arm). A total of 338 patients (70%) with a Glasgow coma scale score ≤ 12 were enrolled. The overall probability that balanced solutions were associated with higher 90-day mortality was 0.98 (OR 1.48; 95%CrI 1.04 - 2.09); this mortality increment was particularly noticeable in patients with a Glasgow coma scale score below 6 at enrollment (probability of harm of 0.99). Balanced solutions were associated with -1.64 days alive and free of intensive care unit at 28 days (95%CrI -3.32 - 0.00) with a probability of harm of 0.97. Conclusion: There was a high probability that balanced solutions were associated with high 90-day mortality and fewer days alive and free of intensive care units at 28 days. RESUMO Objetivo: Descrever os efeitos do uso de soluções balanceadas nos desfechos de curto prazo de pacientes com traumatismo craniencefálico incluídos no estudo BaSICS. Métodos: Os pacientes foram randomizados para receber solução salina 0,9% ou solução balanceada durante a internação em unidade de terapia intensiva. O desfecho primário foi mortalidade em 90 dias, já os desfechos secundários foram dias de vida e sem internação em unidade de terapia intensiva aos 28 dias. O desfecho primário foi avaliado por regressão logística bayesiana. O desfecho secundário foi avaliado usando regressão beta-binomial inflada de zeros bayesiana. Resultados: Incluímos 483 pacientes (236 no braço de solução salina 0,9% e 247 no braço de solução balanceada). Foram incluídos 338 pacientes (70%) com pontuação na escala de coma de Glasgow ≤ 12. A probabilidade geral de que soluções balanceadas estivessem associadas a maior mortalidade em 90 dias foi de 0,98 (RC de 1,48; ICr95% 1,04 - 2,09). Esse aumento de mortalidade foi particularmente perceptível em pacientes com pontuação na escala de coma de Glasgow abaixo de 6 no momento da inclusão (probabilidade de dano de 0,99). Soluções balanceadas foram associadas a -1,64 dia de vida e sem internação em unidade de terapia intensiva aos 28 dias (ICr95% -3,32 - 0,00) com probabilidade de dano de 0,97. Conclusão: Houve alta probabilidade de que soluções balanceadas estivessem associadas a alta mortalidade em 90 dias, menos dias de vida e sem internação em unidade de terapia intensiva aos 28 dias. RESUMO A Síndrome de Rubinstein Taybi tem origem genética no cromossomo 16. O paciente com essas condições apresenta características físicas, atraso no desenvolvimento físico e mental podendo apresentar alterações bucais. O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de relatar um caso de reabilitação protética de um paciente com a síndrome que, devido a traumatismo dentário, perdeu precocemente elementos dentários. Paciente do sexo feminino, 4 anos e 7 meses de idade, com ausência dos incisivos centrais superiores decíduos. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de anamnese, exames clínico e complementares. Após o diagnóstico e estabelecimento do plano de tratamento, foi confeccionada uma prótese do tipo Denari. A mesma possui um mecanismo tubo barra que permite o crescimento e o desenvolvimento maxilar. Ao término do tratamento, a responsável foi orientada a fazer visitas periódicas ao cirurgião-dentista para acompanhamento clínico e radiográfico da prótese, bem como a necessidade do tratamento com o fonoaudiólogo. A perda de dentes decíduos anteriores pode estar associada a trauma nessa região e a ausência dentária pode afetar o desenvolvimento e o comportamento das crianças promovendo uma mudança no cotidiano e impactando a qualidade de vida de toda a família. A prótese Denari é uma opção viável de tratamento, para crianças com essa síndrome, pois não impede o crescimento maxilar, restitui as funções do sistema estomatognático, previne hábitos bucais deletérios e auxilia na fonética. É necessário que o dentista esteja capacitado para oferecer o melhor tratamento para esses pacientes, pois a síndrome dificulta, mas não impede a execução.

ABSTRACT Rubinstein Taybi syndrome has a genetic origin in the chromosome 16. It has physical characteristics, delay in physical and mental development, and may present oral alterations. This paper aims to report a case of prosthetic rehabilitation of a patient with syndrome who, due to dental trauma, lost dental elements early. Female patient, 4 years and 7 months old, with loss of the deciduous maxillary central incisors. The data collection was carried out through anamnesis, clinical and complementary exams. After the diagnosis and the establishment of the treatment plan, we made a Denari type prosthesis. It has a tube-bar mechanism that allows maxillary growth and development. At the end of treatment, the caregiver was instructed to make periodic visits to the dentist for clinical and radiographic follow-up of the prosthesis, as well as the need for treatment with the speech therapist. The loss of anterior deciduous teeth can be associated with trauma in this region and the dental absence can affect the development and behavior of children, promoting a change in daily life and impacting the quality of life of the whole family. The Denari prosthesis is a viable treatment option for children with this syndrome, as it accompanies the maxillary growth, restores the functions of the stomatognathic system, prevents deleterious oral habits and helps with phonetics. It is necessary for the dentist to be able to offer the best treatment for these patients, as the syndrome makes it difficult, but does not impede its execution.

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate genotoxicity of zinc oxide, P. A. calcium hydroxide, mineral trioxide aggregate and an iodoform paste using comet assay on human lymphocytes. Material and Methods: Two positive controls were used: methyl-methanesulfonate for the P.A. calcium hydroxide and mineral trioxide aggregate; and doxorubicin for the iodoform paste and zinc oxide. There were also two negative controls: distilled water for the P.A. calcium hydroxide and mineral trioxide aggregate; and DMSO for the iodoform paste and zinc oxide. Comets were identified using fluorescence microscopy and 100 of them were counted on each of the three slides analyzed per drug test. A damage index was established, taking into consideration the score pattern that had previously been determined from the size and intensity of the comet tail. Analysis of variance, followed by Tukey’s test, was used to compare the means of the DNA damage indices. Results: The DNA damage index observed for mineral trioxide aggregate (7.08 to 8.58) and P.A. calcium hydroxide (6.50 to 8.33), which were similar to negative control index. On the other hand, damage index for zinc oxide (104.7 to 218.50) and iodoform paste (115.7 to 210.7) were similar to positive control index. Conclusion: Iodoform paste and zinc oxide showed genotoxicity at all concentrations used.

Abstract Fire risk mapping is a basic planning and protection element. This study presents the application of fuzzy logic in a geographic information system (GIS) as an alternative multi-criteria analysis for determining the areas of highest risk of forest fire in natural forest remnants in the Brazil. In the decision-making process, a set of factors that are relevant to fire safety were identified in the study area. For each input variable chosen for the model, a pertinence function was defined that best described its influence on fire risk. Subsequently, the variables were combined for the presentation of the final fire risk map. Concluded in the study that an increased risk of fire occurs at the wildland - urban interface. A strong relationship was observed between the fire ignition points and proximity to roads and urban areas. The proposed model was efficient to integrate the variables and determine areas of greatest risk.

RESUMEN Este artículo pretende emprender un análisis de las regulaciones legales del mercado capital brasileño apoyado por investigación bibliográfica y evaluación documental y de datos; enmarcada en la revisión del instrumento regulatorio conocido como acuerdo extrajudicial (conciliación). Un total de 405 términos fueron aprobados por Comisión Brasileña de Bolsas y Valores (CVM) entre el 2009 y el 2014, lo cual caracteriza un amplio uso de este instrumento regulatorio. Este análisis concluye que aunque el arreglo presentado acá puede ser reconocido como un importante mecanismo en el contexto de la regulación del mercado de capitales, su uso excesivo constituye una distorsión tanto de sus propósitos como de los fundamentos de la normativa disciplinaria del mercado e incluso del conjunto de funciones asignadas al CVM.

ABSTRACT The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the legal regulation of the Brazilian capital market, through literature research and assessment of documents and data, with focus on the revision of the regulatory instrument known as consent decree (settlement). A total number of 405 terms were approved by the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) between 2009 and 2014, characterizing a wide use of such regulatory instrument. The present analysis concluded that, although the settlement is considered an important mechanism in the context of capital market regulation, its excessive use constitutes a distortion of both its purposes and of the foundations of normative discipline of the market, and even of the set of functions assigned to the CVM.

RESUMO Este artigo visa desenvolver uma análise da regulação legal do mercado de capitais brasileiro, apoiada por pesquisa de literatura e avaliação de documentos e dados, com foco na revisão do instrumento regulatório chamado “termo de compromisso”. Um total de 405 termos foram aprovados pela Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM) entre 2009 e 2014, que caracteriza um amplo uso desse instrumento regulatório. A presente análise concluiu que, embora o acordo apresentado neste documento possa ser reconhecido como um importante mecanismo no contexto da regulação do mercado de capitais, seu uso excessivo constitui uma distorção de ambos os seus propósitos e das fundações de disciplina normativa no mercado, e ainda de um conjunto de funções designadas à CVM.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate levels of anxiety in children and adolescents related to age and experience of visits to the dentist using the modified Venham Picture Test (VPTm). Material and Methods: This is a quantitative cross-sectional study with convenience sample. Children and adolescents of both sexes, subdivided into age groups of 6-9 years (A1 and A2) and 10-13 years (B1 and B2), in the waiting room of a Dental Clinic, were grouped according to the experience of visits to the dentist (have been to the dentist / have never been to the dentist). Descriptive statistics were mean, standard deviation and frequency of cases. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) was used for normality analysis, with 95% significance level. Inferential statistics was performed using the Chi-Square and Mann-Whitney tests, with p<0.05. Results: In total, 60 children and 60 adolescents were evaluated, 65 (54.16%) males and 55 (45.83%) females. No differences were observed between genders in groups A1 and A2 (p=0.30) and B1 and B2 (p=0.94). The highest means of the VPTm scale were observed in groups A2 and B2 (2.87 ± 2.30 and 2.13 ± 1.29) and the lowest in groups A1 and B1 (1.13 ± 1.45 and 1.20 ± 1.29), respectively. Statistical differences were observed for the mean VPTm scores between age groups A1 and A2 (p=0.004) and B1 and B2 (p=0.018). Conclusion: The level of anxiety was inversely proportional to age, so younger children were more anxious; it was also observed that children and adolescents who had never been to the dentist tended to be more anxious.

RESUMO O estudo foi realizado em todo o estado do Espírito Santo, com o objetivo de delimitar as Áreas de Preservação Permanentes (APPs) na ótica da Lei 12.651/2012 (Código Florestal) e ressaltar a importância de identificar as áreas de forma automática. Cada APP possui uma metodologia própria para o seu mapeamento, entretanto, todas foram mapeadas com o auxílio de geotecnologia. O estado possui 22,43% de sua área de APPs, distribuídas ao longo da faixa marginal dos cursos d’água (10,42%); no entorno de lagos e lagoas naturais (0,67%); no entorno dos reservatórios d’água artificiais (0,02%); no entorno das nascentes (0,89%); em encostas com declividades superiores a 45º (0,24%); em restingas (1,92%); em manguezais (0,19%); em topo de morros (8,98%); e em altitudes superiores a 1.800 metros (0,19%) da área total do estado. O presente estudo serve como subsídio técnico para avaliação e quantificação da APPs em um Estado, visto que é o primeiro em nível estadual no Brasil sobre o tema.

ABSTRACT The study was conducted across the state of Espirito Santo, with the objective of limiting the Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs) by optical law 12.651/2012 (forest code) and highlight the importance of identifying those areas automatically. Each PPA has its own methodology for their mapping, however, all were mapped with the aid of geotechnology. The state has 22.43% of its PPA area distributed along the marginal strip watercourses (10.42%); in the surroundings of lakes and natural ponds (0.67%); around the artificial water reservoirs (0.02%), in the vicinity of springs (0.89%) in the hillsides with slopes greater than 45° (0.24%); in restingas (1.92%); in mangroves (0.19%); on top of hills (8.98%); and in higher than 1800 meters (0.19%) of the total area of the state altitudes. This study serves as a technical subsidy for evaluation and quantification of PPAs in a State, since it is the first one in a state level in Brazil on the issue.

Resumo: Pesquisas no mundo vêm mostrando que indivíduos empreendedores compartilham características particulares e idiossincráticas em relação ao resto da população, o que têm estimulado estudos específicos sobre a mensuração desse comportamento. Dentre as abordagens de mensuração recentes e de maior relevância para a área do empreendedorismo no Brasil, teve-se o desenvolvimento da “Escala de Potencial Empreendedor”. Apesar disso, alguns parâmetros psicométricos de validação mais rigorosos não foram encontrados na apresentação original deste instrumento e os estudos correlatos ainda não se mostram suficientes. Assim, o objetivo deste artigo é verificar evidências de validade fatorial confirmatória, estrutura dimensional e validade de critério (eficácia preditiva) da Escala de Potencial Empreendedor. Para tanto, foram realizados dois estudos. O estudo 1 (um) contou com a participação de 455 estudantes universitários para a realização da validade de constructo por meio da análise fatorial confirmatória e do escalonamento multidimensional (MDS). Por sua vez, o estudo 2 (dois) contou com a participação de 654 estudantes universitários e 148 empresários para a realização da validade de critério por meio do teste t de Student e do Tamanho do Efeito (d). Os resultados mostram que a Escala de Potencial Empreendedor apresenta um modelo fatorial com boa qualidade de ajuste e altos níveis de precisão, indicando que este é um instrumento que converge confiantemente para a predição do potencial empreendedor.

Abstract: Researches worldwide show that entrepreneurs share idiosyncratic characteristics compared with the rest of the population, which have stimulated specific studies on measurement of this behaviour. Among the most relevant and recent measurement approaches to the area of entrepreneurship in Brazil, there was the Entrepreneurial Potential Scale. Nevertheless, the original presentation of this instrument failed to find psychometric properties of stricter validation, and the related studies are not yet sufficient. This article aimed to check evidence of confirmatory factor validity, parameters of dimensional structure and criterion validity (predictive efficacy) of the Entrepreneurial Potential Scale. Two studies were conducted for this purpose. Study 1 (one) included the participation of 455 university students to carry out the construct validity through confirmatory factor analysis and multidimensional scaling (MDS). In turn, study 2 (two) included the participation of 654 college students and 148 entrepreneurs to perform the criterion validity by Student’s t test and effect size (Cohen’s d). Results show that the Entrepreneurial Potential Scale presents a factorial design with good quality adjustment and high levels of precision, indicating that it is a tool which converges reliably to predict the entrepreneurial behaviour.

RESUMO A identificação do comportamento empreendedor vem encontrando dificuldades de mensuração, uma vez que os resultados e instrumentos, até então desenvolvidos, não têm apresentado um modelo comportamental de compatibilidade universal para o empreendedor e não têm seguido algumas recomendações encontradas na literatura para a pesquisa em empreendedorismo, considerando elementos circunstanciais e comportamentais. Nesse sentido, visando preencher essa lacuna, este artigo reporta um estudo sobre a construção e validação do Inventário de Barreiras e Facilitadores ao Empreendedorismo, composto por 8 subescalas independentes que mensuram as seguintes facetas: Intenção de Empreender; Risco; Acesso à Capital; Inovação; Oportunidade; Liderança e Gerenciamento; Rede de Relacionamento; Paixão. O estudo parte da premissa de que o indivíduo se depara com Barreiras e Facilitadores, de ordem comportamental e contextual (fatores sociais, econômicos e ambientais), que podem impelir ou inibir a ação de empreender. Por meio de técnicas de validação, chegou-se a um instrumento de baixo custo (lápis e papel) e de fácil aplicação (autorrelato), com parâmetros psicométricos adequados.

ABSTRACT The identification of entrepreneurial behavior has finding difficulty to measure it, since the results and instruments developed so far, have not shown a behavioral model of universal compatibility for the entrepreneur and not have followed some recommendations from the literature for the research on entrepreneurship, considering circumstantial and behavioral elements. In this sense, aiming to fill this gap, this work reports a study on the construction and validation of the Inventory of Barriers and Facilitators towards the Entrepreneurship, which consists of 8 independent subscales that measure the following facets: Entrepreneurial Intention; Risk; Access to capital; Innovation; Opportunity; Leadership; Relationship network; Passion. The study assumes that the individual is faced with Barriers and Facilitators of behavioral and contextual order (social and environmental) which can propel or inhibit the action of entrepreneurship. By validation techniques, we reached a low-cost instrument (pencil and paper) and easy to apply (self-report) with good psychometric properties.

RESUMEN La identificación del comportamiento emprendedor viene encontrando algunas dificultades en medir, ya que los resultados y los instrumentos desarrollados hasta ahora no han mostrado un modelo de comportamiento de compatibilidad universal para el empresario y no han seguido algunas recomendaciones de la literatura para la investigación sobre el emprendimiento, teniendo en cuenta los elementos circunstanciales y de comportamiento. En este sentido, con el objetivo de llenar este vacío, este trabajo reporta un estudio sobre la construcción y validación del Inventario de Barreras y Facilitadores para el Emprendimiento, que consta de 8 sub-escalas independientes que miden las siguientes facetas: Intención de Emprender; Riesgo; Acceso al capital; Innovación; Oportunidad; Liderazgo y Gestión; Red de relaciones; Pasión. El estudio supone que el individuo se depara con barreras y facilitadores de orden de comportamiento y contextual (social y ambiental) que puede impulsar o inhibir la acción de emprender. A través de técnicas de validación, se llegó a un instrumento de bajo costo (lápiz y papel) y fácil de aplicar (auto-informe), con buenas propiedades psicométricas.

RESUMO Objetivo: O estudo teve por objetivo verificar se há diferença de potencial empreendedor entre Empreendedores de Sucesso e Empreendedores que fracassaram; e se há variáveis que podem ser consideradas preditoras do sucesso ou fracasso do empreendedor. Originalidade/lacuna/relevância/implicações: Traz-se uma abordagem inovadora para a pesquisa em empreendedorismo, cujo teor principal está na operacionalização empírica do sucesso e do fracasso empresarial para o teste de hipóteses específicas e a identificação dos antecedentes e consequentes do potencial empreendedor. Principais aspectos metodológicos: A pesquisa foi conduzida em caráter descritivo e de abordagem quantitativa. Aplicou-se a escala de potencial empreendedor em 246 empreendedores, dos quais 100 entraram nos critérios de análise, operacionalmente, como empreendedores de sucesso (n = 50) e empreendedores que fracassaram (n = 50). Os dados foram analisados por meio de técnicas de Regressão Logística e Teste t de Student. Síntese dos principais resultados: Os resultados mostram que o empreendedor de sucesso possui maiores escores na escala de potencial empreendedor que o empreendedor que fracassou, sendo o principal convergente entre potencial empreendedor e sucesso empresarial o estabelecimento de metas para o negócio. Na amostra investigada, a variável gênero se mostrou um forte preditor do sucesso empresarial, indicando que homens tem 2,8 vezes maior chance de sucesso nos negócios que mulheres. Principais considerações/conclusões: Depreende-se que os resultados encontrados lançam luz sobre elementos cruciais para a explicação do sucesso empresarial e corrobora resultados recentes trazidos por pesquisas sobre empreendedorismo e gênero.

ABSTRACT Purpose: The study aimed to verify whether there is a difference of entrepreneurial potential between successful entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs who have failed; and whether there are variables that may work as a means of prediction to the success or failure of an entrepreneur. Originality/gap/relevance/implications: It brings up an innovative approach to the entrepreneurship researches, which main content is in the empirical operationalization of success and failure on business for the testing of specific hypothesis and the identification of the antecedents and consequences of entrepreneurial potential. Key methodological aspects: The research was conducted on a descriptive and quantitative approach. We applied the scale of entrepreneurial potential in 246 entrepreneurs, which 100 correspond to the analysis criteria, operationally, as successful entrepreneurs (n = 50) and entrepreneurs who failed (n = 50). Data were analysed by statistics techniques of logistic regression and Student's t test. Summary of key results: Results show that the successful entrepreneur has higher scores in entrepreneur potential scale than the entrepreneur who failed, in which the main convergence between entrepreneurial potential and business success is the setting business goals. In the investigated sample, the gender showed being a strong predictor of business success, indicating that men have 2.8 times greater chance of success in business than women. Key considerations/conclusions: In our opinion, the results found shed light on crucial elements to the explanation of business success and corroborate recent results brought by research on entrepreneurship and gender.

RESUMEN Objetivo: El objetivo del estudio fue verificar si existe diferencia de potencial emprendedor entre emprendedores que tuvieron éxito y emprendedores que han fracasado; y si hay variables que se pueden considerar predictores del éxito o fracaso del emprendedor. Originalidad/laguna/relevancia/implicaciones: Trazamos un enfoque innovador a la investigación sobre emprendimiento, cuyo contenido principal está en la práctica empírica de éxito y fracaso empresarial para lo teste de hipótesis específicas y la identificación de los antecedentes y consecuentes del potencial emprendedor. Principales aspectos metodológicos: La investigación se realizó con enfoque descriptivo y cuantitativo. Aplicamos la escala de potencial emprendedor en 246 empresarios, de los cuales 100 entraron en los criterios de análisis como empresarios que tuvieron éxito (n = 50) e empresarios que fracasaron (n = 50). Los datos fueron analizados mediante técnicas de regresión Logística y test t de Student. Síntesis de los principales resultados: Los resultados muestran que el empresario exitoso tiene puntuaciones más altas en la escala de potencial emprendedor que el empresario que ha fallado. La principal convergencia entre el potencial empresarial y el éxito empresarial fue el establecimiento de metas para el negocio. En la muestra investigada, el género mostró ser un fuerte predictor de éxito en los negocios, lo que indica que hombres tienen 2,8 veces más posibilidades de éxito en los negocios que mujeres. Principales consideraciones/conclusiones: Los resultados arrojan luz sobre elementos cruciales para la explicación del éxito empresarial y corrobora los resultados recientes presentados por estudios sobre emprendimiento y género.
