O sistema de poda do mirtileiro (Vaccinium ashei Read) utilizado no país se fundamenta em estudos realizados em locais com condições edafoclimáticas distintas da nossa realidade. Assim, foram avaliadas diferentes intensidades de poda de frutificação em dois genótipos de mirtileiro, e seus efeitos na produção e na qualidade dos frutos. O experimento foi conduzido em pomar comercial, localizado em Pelotas-RS. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos casualizados completos, em esquema fatorial (2x4), com quatro repetições. Plantas de sete anos de idade, do grupo Rabbiteye, cultivares 'Briteblue' e 'Woodard', foram submetidas às intensidades de poda leve, moderada, drástica e sem poda (testemunha) nos anos de 2010 e 2011, no período de repouso hibernal (primeira quinzena de agosto). Foram avaliadas a produção média por planta, sendo estimada a produtividade por área, peso fresco, diâmetro, teor de sólidos solúveis, pH e acidez titulável dos frutos. De acordo com os resultados, a intensidade de poda tem efeito sobre a antecipação da colheita. Com a decorrência de uma maior intensidade de poda, houve uma tendência de aumento do tamanho dos frutos. Para mirtileiros Briteblue, há decréscimo de produtividade, conforme se aumenta a intensidade de poda. Mirtileiros Briteblue são mais produtivos e apresentam maior matéria fresca de fruto do que Woodard.

The blueberry (Vaccinium ashei Read) pruning system currently used is based on studies performed at edaphoclimatic conditions different of our reality. Thus, it was assessed the effects of different fructification pruning intensities on production and fruit quality of two blueberry genotypes. The trial was performed in a commercial orchard in Pelotas - RS. The experimental design was a complete randomized block, in a factorial design (2x4) with four replications. Seven year old plant of Rabbiteye group, cultivars 'Briteblue' e 'Woodard', were undergone to the pruning intensities light, moderate drastic and no pruning (control) during the winter of 2010 and 2011 (first two weeks of august). The parameters assessed were average plant yield, estimated yield per area, fruit fresh weight, fruit diameter, soluble solids, pH and titratable acidity. According to the results, pruning intensity affects harvest anticipation. As the pruning intensity increased, there was a trend of increased fruit size. The productivity of Briteblue blueberries decreases as pruning intensity increases. Briteblue are more productive and show greater fresh fruit weight than Woodard blueberries.

A técnica de micropropagação apresenta diversas vantagens em relação aos métodos tradicionalmente utilizados na propagação da amoreira-preta, especialmente quanto à maior sanidade das mudas e maior rapidez na obtenção de novas plantas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar a influência dos fitorreguladores 6-benzilaminopurina (BAP) e ácido indolbutírico (AIB), aliados à qualidade de luz, na multiplicação e enraizamento in vitro, respectivamente, da amoreira-preta cultivar 'Xavante'. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado. Os tratamentos constituíram-se de diferentes níveis de qualidade de luz (azul, vermelha, branca e ausência de luz) combinadas com ausência ou presença dos fitorreguladores AIB (0,5mg L-1) e BAP (0,8mg L-1) no meio de cultivo. A utilização de BAP aumenta o número de brotações, gemas e folhas da amoreira-preta 'Xavante' e, dessa forma, é indicada para sua multiplicação in vitro. A utilização de AIB não é necessária no enraizamento in vitro da amoreira-preta 'Xavante', indicando que essa cultivar apresenta bom enraizamento natural.

There are a lot of advantages using micropropagation technique over the methods traditionally used in blackberry propagation especially concerning health of seedlings and speed in getting new plants. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of bioregulators 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) and indol-3-butyric acid (IBA) combined with light quality on in vitro multiplication and rooting, respectively, of blackberry 'Xavante'. The experimental design was completely randomized. The treatments consisted of different levels of light quality (blue, red, white and absence of light) combined with the absence or presence of bioregulators IBA (0.5mg L-1) and BAP (0.8mg L-1) in the culture medium. The use of BAP increases the number of new shoots, buds and leaves of blackberry, 'Xavante' and thus is suitable for its in vitro propagation. The use of IBA is not required in in vitro rooting of the blackberry cultivar studied, showing that it is naturally well rooting.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desenvolvimento vegetativo e o início do período produtivo de mirtilos (Vaccinium virgatum) propagados por estaquia e micropropagação. No ano de 2009, foi implantado um pomar de mirtilo com mudas de um ano de idade, em espaçamento de 1,3x4,0 m. Utilizaram-se as cultivares Bluegem, Briteblue e Woodard, do grupo "rabbiteye". Foram avaliados os seguintes parâmetros: altura de planta, diâmetro e número de brotações, diâmetro médio dos frutos, frutos colhidos por planta, produção média por planta, produtividade estimada por hectare, massa de matéria fresca por fruto, teor de sólidos solúveis, acidez titulável e pH. Plantas obtidas pela técnica de micropropagação apresentaram maior crescimento vegetativo inicial, em razão do rejuvenescimento causado por este tipo de propagação. O método de propagação não influenciou a qualidade dos frutos. Ao contrário do esperado, as plantas micropropagadas não mostraram atraso no início da produção de frutos e apresentaram produtividade e qualidade de frutos semelhantes às de plantas propagadas por estaquia.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the vegetative development and the onset of the productive period of blueberry (Vaccinium virgatum) seedlings obtained by semi-hardwood cuttings or micropropagation. In 2009, a blueberry orchard was established with one-year-old seedlings, at 1.3x4.0 m spacing. The cultivars Bluegem, Briteblue, and Woodard, from the rabbiteye group were utilized. The following parameters were evaluated: plant height, number and diameter of shoot, berry average diameter, number of harvested fruit per plant, average production per tree, estimated yield by hectare, fresh matter per fruit, content of soluble solids, titratable acidity and pH. Plants originated from the micropropagation technique showed high rate of initial vegetative growth, due to the rejuvenation caused by this sort of propagation. Propagation methods did not affect fruit quality. Despite the expected, micropropagated plants showed no delay in the initial fruit production and its fruit yield and quality were similar to those of cutting-propagated plants.

Este estudo investigou a influência do alargamento cervical feito com diferentes instrumentos rotatórios na determinação do instrumento apical inicial (IAI) das raizes mésio-vestibulares de molares inferiores. Foram utilizados 50 molares inferiores cujas raízes mesiais apresentavam dois forames apicais nitidamente separados (mésio-vestibular e mésio-lingual). Após o acesso à câmara pulpar de forma convencional e remoção do tecido pulpar, o comprimento de trabalho foi definido a 1 mm do ápice radicular. Os dentes foram divididos aleatoriamente em cinco grupos (n= 10) de acordo com o tipo de instrumento utilizado no alargamento cervical. No grupo 1, o IAI foi definido sem o prévio alargamento dos terços médio e cervical das raízes. Nos grupos 2 a 5, o terço cervical e médio do canal radicular foi alargado com as brocas de Gates-Glidden, instrumentos Pro Taper, Endo Flare e brocas LA Axxes, respectivamente. A determinação do IAI foi realizada manualmente com limas tipo K em ordem crescente de diâmetro a partir da lima 08 até se chegar ao instrumento que permitisse ao operador ter a sensação tátil do mesmo estar firmemente ajustado ao CRT. O instrumento que correspondeu ao IAI foi fixado no interior do canal radicular com cianocrilato de metila. Com o IAI posicionado, os dentes foram seccionados transversalmente até 1 mm do ápice. As seções transversais do CRT foram observadas através da microscopia eletrônica de varredura e os desajustes entre o diâmetro do canal e o diâmetro do IAI foram calculados com a função "régua" (FEG) do software do próprio microscópio. Os resultados foram avaliados estatisticamente pelo testes de Kruskal-Wallis e Dunn ao nível de significância de 5%. Houve diferenças estatisticamente significantes entre os grupos (p<0,05). O grupo sem alargamento apresentou o maior desajuste (125,30 ±51,54) e diferiu significativamente dos demais grupos (p<0,05). O alargamento cervical com as brocas LA Axxess apresentou os menores desajustes (55,10 ± 48,31), seguido de EndoFlare (68,20 ± 42,44), Gattes Glidden (68,90 ± 42,46) e limas ProTaper (77,40 ± 73,19). Contudo, não houve diferenças estatisticamente significantes entre os instrumentos rotatórios (p<0,05). Conclui-se que o alargamento cervical melhorou a adaptação do IAI aos canais no CRT das raízes mésio-vestibulares dos primeiros molares inferiores. Os instrumentos rotatórios avaliados neste estudo não apresentaram diferenças estatísticas entre si no que diz respeito aos desajustes entre as dimensões do IAI e o diâmetro do canal no CRT.

This study investigated the influence of cervical preflaring with different rotary instruments on determination of the initial apical file (IAF) in mesiobuccal roots of mandibular molars. Fifty human mandibular molars whose mesial roots presented two clearly separated apical foramens (mesiobuccal and mesiolingual) were used. After standard access opening and removal of pulp tissue, the working length (WL) was determined at 1 mm short of the root apex. Five groups (n=10) were formed at random, according to the type of instrument used for cervical preflaring. In group 1, the size of the IAF was determined without preflaring of the cervical and middle root canal thirds. In groups 2 to 5, preflaring was performed with Gates-Glidden drills, ProTaper instruments, EndoFlare instruments and LA Axxes burs, respectively. Canals were sized manually with K-files, starting with size 08 K-files, inserted passively up to the WL. File sizes were increased until a binding sensation was felt at the WL and the size of the file was recorded. The instrument corresponding to the IAF was fixed into the canal at the WL with methylcyanoacrylate. The teeth were then sectioned transversally 1 mm short of the apex, with the IAF in position. Cross-sections of the WL region were examined under scanning electron microscopy and the discrepancies between canal diameter and the diameter of IAF were calculated using the tool "rule" (FEG) of the microscope's proprietary software. The measurements (µm) were analyzed statistically by Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn's tests at 5% significance level. There were statistically significant differences among the groups (p<0.05). The non-flared group had the greatest discrepancy (125.30 ± 51.54) and differed significantly from all flared groups (p<0.05). Cervical preflaring with LA Axxess burs produced the least discrepancies (55.10 ± 48.31), followed by EndoFlare instruments (68.20 ± 42.44), Gattes Glidden drills (68.90 ± 42.46) and ProTaper files (77.40 ± 73.19). However, no significant differences (p>0.05) were found among the rotary instruments. In conclusion, cervical preflaring improved IAF fitting to the canals at the WL in mesiobuccal roots of maxillary first molars. The rotary instruments evaluated in this study did not differ from each other regarding the discrepancies produced between the IAF size and canal diameter at the WL.
