Este artigo analisa, a partir do atual contexto econômico brasileiro, as novas configurações de controle no processo de reestruturação e modernização produtiva dos bancos privados. O setor bancário foi escolhido como objeto de estudo por ter passado por reestruturações a partir da década de 1970, incorporando inovações organizacionais e tecnológicas por meio da adoção de novas tecnologias de informação e comunicação (TICs) que continuam sendo utilizadas. Nesse contexto, o objetivo deste artigo é descrever aspectos do controle do trabalho por meio da intensificação do uso das TICs, bem como analisar a percepção dos trabalhadores sobre esse controle. Essa temática é relevante, tendo em vista que a utilização das TICs nos dias atuais é objeto de estudo fundamental na gestão estratégica das organizações. Entretanto, observa-se que as pesquisas e os trabalhos acadêmicos referentes à adoção das TICs baseiam-se majoritariamente em uma perspectiva funcionalista. Este estudo apresenta um contraponto, na medida em que analisa novas formas de controle sob uma perspectiva crítica, dando ênfase às práticas que ocultam a manipulação da subjetividade, a dominação e o controle dos funcionários. Pretende-se destacar como a estrutura de controle na contemporaneidade é apoiada pelas TICs e sustentada por uma dimensão política e ideológica. Foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo em vários bancos utilizando entrevistas semiestruturadas com gerentes e caixas. Os depoimentos apontam que o controle coercitivo e punitivo anterior deu lugar a um tipo de controle mais sutil, que inclui mecanismos de adesão ativa e cooperante desses profissionais.

This paper analyzes, through the current Brazilian economic context, the new control setups in the restructuring and productive modernization process of private banks. The banking sector was chosen as a study object because it went through restructurings from the 1970s, incorporating organizational and technological innovations through the adoption of new information and communication technologies (ICTs) which keep being used. In this context, this paper aims to describe aspects of labor control through the increased use of ICTs, as well as to analyze the workers' perception of this control. This set of themes is relevant, taking into account that the use of ICTs today is a crucial study object in the strategic management of organizations. However, one observes that the researches and academic studies related to the adoption of ICTs are largely based on a functionalist perspective. This study presents a counterpoint, in so far as it analyzes new forms of control from a critical perspective, emphasizing the practices which hide the manipulation of subjectivity, domination, and control of employees. One intends to highlight how the control structure is supported by ICTs in contemporary days and sustained by a political and ideological dimension. One conducted a field research in several banks using semi-structured interviews with managers and tellers. The testimonies point out that the previous coercive and punitive control gave rise to a more subtle kind of control, which includes active and cooperative membership mechanisms of these professionals.

This article aims to critically analyze the impacts of tourism on local development, from the study of the formation of the Tourism Cluster of Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The theoretical framework that supports the analysis is concerned with the idea of a territory as an expansion area, productive settlements, local development and tourism. The methodology of the study involved the use of field research; and data was collected through direct observation and semi-structured interviews. Local players involved in the cluster were interviewed: businesses, residents, representatives from neighborhood associations, the government and NGOs. The analysis showed that local actors identify the role of the tourist cluster and the potential of the territory with local development. However, some aspects related to the performance of the cluster such as the cooperation between individual entrepreneurs, the integration of different actors of the district -particularly as regards the participation of government- and the quest for sustainable development are at a very early stage. Depending on the elements described, the performance of the cluster rather focuses on the economic and social development of the neighborhood.

Este artículo se propone analizar críticamente los impactos de la actividad turística sobre el desarrollo local a partir del estudio de la formación del Polo Turístico del barrio Santa Teresa localizado en Río de Janeiro, Brasil. El análisis se basa en el concepto de territorio como espacio de desarrollo local, clusters de producción y turismo. La metodología utilizada fue la investigación de campo con recolección de datos por medio de la observación directa y entrevistas semiestructuradas. Se entrevistó a los actores locales del cluster: empresarios; pobladores; representantes de asociaciones del barrio, del poder público y de ONG's. A través del estudio se constató que los actores locales son consientes del rol del cluster turístico y de las potencialidades del territorio para el desarrollo local. No obstante, aspectos tales como la cooperación entre los empresarios, la integración de los diferentes actores del barrio -sobre todo en lo que respecta a la participación del poder público- y la búsqueda del desarrollo sustentable se encuentra en un grado bastante incipiente. Considerando el análisis realizado se puede señalar que el cluster tiene una escasa incidencia sobre el desarrollo económico y social del barrio.

Face ao contexto de crise do modelo de acumulação capitalista na década de 1970, as empresas automobilísticas, em todo o mundo, têm adotado novos modelos produtivos. A compreensão do processo de concepção e incorporação desses modelos é fundamental posto que, ainda hoje, o setor automobilístico representa uma fonte de inovações organizacionais para outros setores industriais e de serviços. Nesse sentido, este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as relações salariais em empresas automobilísticas brasileiras, a partir da estrutura de análise proposta por Durand (1998), a qual está baseada em quatro elementos: organização do trabalho, sistema de remuneração, atuação dos sindicatos e relações hierárquicas. A utilização dessa estrutura de análise permite a identificação dos conflitos inerentes a cada planta e o grau de coerência dos elementos, necessário para a obtenção de melhores resultados globais na indústria. A análise dos estudos de caso à luz do modelo apresentado indica que, no atual contexto de acumulação capitalista, não existe coerência entre os elementos da relação salarial tal como se obtinha na organização 'fordista'.

In the face of the context brought about by the accumulation of capital model upheld by the Ford-type industry paradigm in the 1970s, automotive companies all over the world have adopted new production models. An understanding of the process by which these models have been conceived and incorporated is essential in view of the fact that the automotive field continues to be a source of organizational innovations for other industrial and service fields. From this standpoint, this article aims to analyze salary relations in Brazilian automotive companies based on the four elements according to Durand´s (1998) structure: work organization, remuneration systems, labor union actions and hierarchical relations. The use of this structure enables the researcher to identify conflicts inherent to each plant and the degree of coherence of the aforementioned elements needed to achieve the best overall results in the industry. The analysis of the case study, in the light of the model presented here, shows that in the context of capital accumulation, there is no coherence in the elements of salary relations similar to that which existed in Ford-type organizations.
