RESUMO: Cultivares STS toleram doses até quatro vezes maiores de chlorimuron que as recomendadas para cultivares não tolerantes, sem apresentar danos significativos. Contudo, poucos trabalhos posicionam a seletividade de nicosulfuron em cultivares STS. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar a seletividade de doses do herbicida nicosulfuron aplicado em pós-emergência (V4) de soja RR/STS. Os experimentos foram conduzidos nas safras de 2015/16 e 2016/17, em Piracicaba - SP. Em 2016/17, também foi conduzido em Palotina - PR. Os tratamentos foram compostos por seis doses do herbicida nicosulfuron (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 e 250 g i.a. ha-1). O delineamento experimental empregado nos quatro ensaios foi em blocos casualizados com quatro repetições. Foram avaliados os sintomas de injúria aos 7, 14, 21 e 28 dias após a aplicação, bem como realizada avaliação de variáveis relacionadas ao desempenho agronômico (altura de plantas, número de vagens por planta, produtividade e massa de mil grãos). Os dados obtidos foram submetidos à análise de regressão (p<0,05). Analisando as doses estimadas, que reduziram em 5% a produtividade em relação à dose 0, verifica-se que estas doses ficaram entre 57,79 e 68,37 g i.a. ha-1; assim, pode-se inferir que de maneira geral a soja RR/STS é tolerante para aplicação de nicosulfuron até 57,79 g i.a. ha-1, pelas doses estimadas. Pode-se concluir que a soja RR/STS é tolerante para aplicação de nicosulfuron até 50 g i.a. ha-1, de acordo com as doses aplicadas.

ABSTRACT: STS cultivars tolerate up to four times higher rates of chlorimuron than those recommended for non-tolerant cultivars, without significant damage. However, few studies position the selectivity of nicosulfuron in STS cultivars. The aim of this study was to assess the selectivity of rates of the herbicide nicosulfuron applied in the post-emergence (V4) of RR/STS soybean. The experiments were conducted in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons in Piracicaba, SP. In the 2016/17 season, the experiment was also conducted in Palotina, PR. Treatments consisted of six rates of the herbicide nicosulfuron (0, 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 g a.i. ha-1). The experimental design was a randomized block design with four replications. The symptoms of injury were assessed at 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after application, as well as the assessment of variables related to the agronomic performance (plant height, number of pods per plant, yield, and one thousand-grain weight). The data were submitted to regression analysis (p<0.05). The estimated rates reduced yield by 5% in relation to the rate 0 and were between 57.79 and 68.37 g a.i. ha-1. In general, the RR/STS soybean is tolerant to the application of nicosulfuron up to 57.79 g a.i. ha-1 when considering the estimated rates. Therefore, the RR/STS soybean is tolerant to the application of nicosulfuron up to 50 g a.i. ha-1, according to the applied rates.

RESUMO O objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar a seletividade de herbicidas inibidores da ALS, aplicados isoladamente e associados com glyphosate, em pós-emergência de cultivar de soja contendo as tecnologias RR/STS. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições e dez tratamentos. Os tratamentos foram constituídos da aplicação de glyphosate e herbicidas inibidores da ALS, isolados e associados com glyphosate. A aplicação dos tratamentos ocorreu no estádio de desenvolvimento V4 das plantas. Foi realizada avaliação de fitointoxicação, índice SPAD, bem como de variáveis relacionadas ao desempenho agronômico (altura, número de vagens por planta, produtividade e massa de mil sementes). Ainda, foi conduzido ensaio complementar, com o mesmo cultivar e tratamentos em casa de vegetação, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições. O cultivar de soja CD 2630 RR/STS apresentou-se tolerante à aplicação em pós-emergência dos herbicidas utilizados, associados ou não com glyphosate, exceção feita ao metsulfuron-methyl (2,4 g i.a. ha-1), associado ou não com glyphosate (960 g e.a. ha-1).

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the selectivity of ALS inhibitor herbicides, applied isolated and associated with glyphosate in post-emergence of soybean cultivar presenting the RR/STS technologies. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications and ten treatments. The treatments consisted of the application of glyphosate and ALS inhibitors herbicides, isolated and associated with glyphosate. The application of treatments occurred in V4 stage of plant development. The evaluation of phytointoxication, SPAD index was conducted, as well as variables related to agronomic performance (height, number of pods per plant, yield and mass of a thousand seeds). Yet additional test with the same cultivar and treatment was conducted in a greenhouse in a completely randomized design with four replications. Soybean cultivar CD 2630 RR/STS presented itself tolerant to application in post-emergence herbicides used alone or combined with glyphosate. Except to metsulfuron-methyl (2.4 g a.i. ha-1), associated or not with glyphosate (960 g a.e. ha-1).

RESUMO O objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar o teor, o rendimento e a composição química do óleo essencial de manjericão (Ocimum basilicum L.) submetido ao estresse salino por NaCl. Para tanto, o experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação, sob delineamento inteiramente casualizado, caracterizado por 5 (cinco) tratamentos de NaCl, adicionados à água de irrigação (0,01 - controle,T1; 1,2 - T2; 2,3 – T3; 3,4 – T4 e 4,5 dS m-1– T5, correspondendo respectivamente a 0,1; 12,0; 23,0; 34,0 e 45,0 mM ), com 4 (quatro) repetições. Aos 55 dias após o transplantio, as plantas foram colhidas, colocadas em sacos de papel e levadas a estufa de secagem com fluxo de ar forçado a 45 °C, por 10 dias até atingirem massas constantes. Após a secagem, foi realizada a pesagem da biomassa seca da parte aérea, misturada, moída em triturador elétrico de facas e posteriormente realizada a extração do óleo essencial para análise do teor, rendimento e composição química. O aumento do estresse por NaCl não alterou o teor e a composição química do óleo essencial, cujo rendimento reduziu 12,93% a cada acréscimo unitário dos níveis de salinidade. O cinamato de metila, cujo teor médio encontrado foi de 55%, e o metil chavicol, com 12%, foram os principais compostos identificados nas plantas de manjericão.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the content, yield and chemical composition of the essential oil of sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) plants subjected to NaCl saline stress. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, in a completely randomized design, with 5 (five) NaCl treatments added to the irrigation water (0.01 - control, T1; 1.2 - T2; 2.3 - T3; 3.4 - T4 and 4.5 dS m-1 - T5, corresponding respectively to 0.1; 12.0; 23.0; 34.0 and 45.0 mM) and 4 (four) replicates. At 55 days after transplanting, plants were harvested, put in paper bags and taken to a forced-air oven at 45 ºC for 10 days, until reaching constant mass. After drying, the dry biomass of the aerial part was weighed, mixed, grinded in an electric blade grinder and later taken to an essential oil extraction so that its content, yield and chemical composition could be analyzed. The increase of NaCl stress did not change neither the content nor the chemical composition of the essential oil, whose yield was reduced by 12.93% for each unit increase in the salinity level. The methyl cinnamate, with an average content of 55%, and the methyl chavicol, with 12%, were the main compounds identified in the sweet basil plants.

The objective of the present study was to identify sperm abnormalities in young male patients with juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM). In 2005, 18 male JDM patients, diagnosed according to the criteria of Bohan and Peter, were followed at the Pediatric Rheumatology Unit and Rheumatology Division, of our Institution. Of the 18 males, 11 were pre-pubertal and 7 were post-pubertal. Two of 7 post-pubertal JDM male patients were excluded: one for orchidopexy for cryptorchidism and the other for testicular ectopia in the left testis. The remaining 5 post-pubertal JDM patients were prospectively evaluated on the basis of two semen analyses, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), urologic evaluation, testicular Doppler ultrasound hormone profile. The data of the JDM patients were compared with those of 5 age-matched healthy controls. The median age 18, was similar in JDM patients and controls. All JDM patients had teratozoospermia (abnormal sperm morphology), as did 4 (80%) of the controls. One of JDM patients had previous oligoasthenoteratozoospermia treated with intravenous cyclophosphamide with normalization of the number and concentration of the sperm after 5 years. All sperm parameters (sperm concentration, total sperm count and total motile sperm count by WHO, and sperm morphology by Kruger strict criteria), testicular volumes by Prader orchidometer and ultrasound, and hormones were similar in JDM patients compared with controls. The frequency of anti-sperm antibodies was similar in both groups. All JDM patients had minor sperm abnormalities in the head, midpiece, and/or tail of spermatozoids. Serial semen analyses in larger study populations are necessary to identify the extent and duration of sperm abnormalities in male patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies.

RESUMO Escherichia coli não é um componente da microbiota entérica de psitacídeos e a presença da bactéria nestas aves está associada à ocorrência de diarréias, doenças respiratórias e septicemias. Este trabalho avaliou a colonização intestinal por Escherichia coli em psitacídeos criados sob diferentes condições de biossegurança. Foram analisados 85 “swabs” de cloaca, através de exames bacteriológicos (cultura, isolamento e identificação bioquímica). Os resultados mostraram diferenças significativas na colonização intestinal por E. coli em psitacídeos, com 20% (10/50) de aves positivas no criatório conservacionista e 80% (28/35) no criatório recreacionista. Os dados evidenciam a importância da biossegurança, uma vez que o estado sanitário das aves alojadas em cativeiro pode ser influenciado pela finalidade do criatório.

ABSTRACT Escherichia coli is not considered a member of psittacine gut flora and the presence of the bacteria has been associated with enteric disorders, respiratory diseases and septicaemia. This survey determined the gut colonization by Escherichia coli on psittacine birds, raised under different biosecurity levels. The 85 cloacal swabs were examined by bacteriologic cultural methods. The results showed significant differences on E. coli gut colonization, with 20% (10/50) positive psittacine birds on conservationist farms and 80% (28/35) in a recreational zoo. This data suggests the importance of biosecurity level on the sanitary condition, sinced it can be influenced by aviary activity.

This report describes the production of cytotoxic necrotizing factor (CNF) by an Escherichia coli strain isolated from clinical bovine mastitis with clinical signs of toxemia The animal had hemorrhages and necrosis of the mammary glands, and died within 24 hours after the onset of clinical signs. In addition to CNF identification, alpha-haemolysin and siderophores production were also characterized in this strain. This report reinforce the association of CNF and alpha-haemolysin production in E. coli virulence associated with clinical cases of severe bovine mastitis.
