Abstract Several studies have reported a link between emotional competencies and academic achievement in higher education, and about the need to implement strategies for young university students to face educational demands. Along this line, the aim of this study was to explore the characteristics of emotional regulation that affect the academic performance of a group of university students, with the purpose of designing a psychoeducational proposal aimed at strengthening the emotional self-management of this population. For this, a diagnostic phase was carried out in which 80 university students participated, 33.8 % male and 66.2 % female, aged between 18 and 25 years (M = 21.09; SD = 1.92), to whom the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) instrument and the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) Learning Assessment Scale were applied. The results showed the presence of difficulties in goal-orientation behaviors, as well as a significant association between academic performance and lack of emotional acceptance and clarity. With these findings, the Logical Framework methodology was used to design a proposal of seven workshops to promote the development of competencies related to emotional recognition and management, stress and anxiety management, decision making and conflict management, intrinsic motivation and self-knowledge, time management and administration.

Resumen Varios estudios han reportado una asociación entre competencias emocionales y logros académicos en educación superior, y sobre la importancia de implementar estrategias para que los jóvenes afronten las demandas educativas. En esta línea, el objetivo del presente estudio consistió en explorar las características de la competencia de regulación emocional que inciden en el rendimiento académico de un grupo de jóvenes universitarios, con la finalidad de diseñar una propuesta psicoeducativa orientada a fortalecer la autogestión emocional de esta población. Para ello, se realizó una fase diagnóstica en la que participaron ochenta estudiantes universitarios, 33,8 % de sexo masculino y 66,2 % de sexo femenino, con edades comprendidas entre 18 y 25 años (M = 21,09; DE = 1,92), a quienes se les aplicó el instrumento Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) y la Escala de Valoración de Aprendizajes de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE). Los resultados mostraron la presencia de dificultades en conductas dirigidas a metas, así como una asociación significativa entre rendimiento académico y falta de aceptación y de claridad emocional. Con estos hallazgos, se empleó la metodología del Marco Lógico para diseñar una propuesta de siete talleres para fomentar el desarrollo de competencias relacionadas con reconocimiento y gestión de emociones, manejo de estrés y ansiedad, toma decisiones y manejo de conflictos, motivación intrínseca y autoconocimiento, gestión y administración del tiempo.

ABSTRACT Integrated management is considered the best strategy to mitigate the damage caused by plant-parasitic nematodes. However, there is still limited information regarding some integrated techniques. Thus, this study aimed to assess the effects of genetic management associated with chemical control of Meloidogyne javanica in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) The experiment was installed in a greenhouse according to an 8×4 factorial design with eight replicates. The first factor was soybean cultivar (HO Juruena IPRO, resistant; Foco IPRO, HO Maracaí IPRO, and CZ 58B28 IPRO, moderately resistant; HO Mamoré IPRO, moderately susceptible; and Extrema IPRO, CZ 48B32 IPRO, and HO Aporé IPRO, susceptible). The second factor consisted of an untreated control and commercial nematicides based on abamectin, thiodicarb+imidacloprid, and fluopyram. Plants were inoculated with 2000 nematode eggs, and nematode and vegetative variables were evaluated at 65 d after inoculation. There was an interaction effect on nematode variables. Furthermore, there was an additive effect of genetic management and chemical control, mainly in resistant cultivars treated with thiodicarb+imidacloprid or fluopyram with controls of up to 69.90% and 96.86%, respectively. The application of fluopyram and the use of ‘HO Juruena IPRO’, ‘Foco IPRO’, or ‘HO Maracaí IPRO’ also contributed to the control of M. javanica. Vegetative variables were studied by analyzing product effects separately, but results were inconclusive.

ABSTRACT Academic success in Higher Education is a multidimensional construct, influenced by different variables in the student trajectory. Thus, we assessed the academic performance (CRE) of incoming Higher Education students, taking personal/social, adaptive, and learning-related variables, differentiating the analysis according to the nature of the courses. In this way, 715 students participated (age: M = 22.10 years, SD = 6.92), from 26 Higher Education courses at a Federal Institute of Paraíba (Brazil), whose data were collected in a documentary form and using an online questionnaire. The results indicate that the set of variables in the study explain 89% of the CRE of bachelor students, 85% of undergraduate students, and 84% of the performance of technological courses, with the following variables: emphasis on family income, option in choosing the course, extra-class contact with teacher and extracurricular activities, absences and discipline approvals versus completed disciplines. Implications of these results are highlighted for future interventions focusing on academic success and course completion.

RESUMEN El éxito académico en la Educación Universitaria es un constructo multidimensional, influenciado por distintas variables de la trayectoria estudiantil. Así, analizamos el rendimiento académico (CRE) de estudiantes ingresantes de la ES, tomando variables personales/sociales, adaptativas y relacionadas al aprendizaje, diferenciando los análisis de acuerdo con la naturaleza de los cursos. Participaron 715 estudiantes (M = 22.10 años, DP = 6.92), provenientes de 26 cursos universitarios del Instituto Federal de Paraíba (Brasil), cuyos datos se recolectaron de forma documental y utilizando un cuestionario aplicado online. Los resultados apuntan que el conjunto de las variables del estudio explica el 89% del CRE de estudiantes de bachillerato, el 85% da licenciatura y el 84% del rendimiento de cursos tecnológicos, con destaque para las variables renta familiar, opción en la escoja del curso, contacto extra-aula con profesor y actividades extracurriculares, faltas y asignaturas aprobadas versus asignaturas cursadas. Se apuntan implicaciones de estos resultados para futuras intervenciones con enfoque en el éxito académico y conclusión de los cursos.

RESUMO O sucesso acadêmico na Educação Superior é um construto multidimensional, influenciado por diferentes variáveis da trajetória estudantil. Assim, analisamos o rendimento acadêmico (CRE) de estudantes ingressantes da ES, tomando variáveis pessoais/sociais, adaptativas e relacionadas à aprendizagem, diferenciando as análises de acordo com a natureza dos cursos. Participaram 715 estudantes (M = 22.10 anos, DP = 6.92), oriundos de 26 cursos superiores do Instituto Federal da Paraíba (Brasil), cujos dados foram coletados de forma documental e usando um questionário aplicado online. Os resultados apontam que o conjunto das variáveis do estudo explicam 89% do CRE de estudantes do bacharelado, 85% da licenciatura e 84% do rendimento de cursos tecnológicos, com destaque para as variáveis renda familiar, opção na escolha do curso, contato extraclasse com professor e atividades extracurriculares, faltas e disciplinas aprovadas versus disciplinas cursadas. Apontam-se implicações desses resultados para futuras intervenções com foco no sucesso acadêmico e conclusão dos cursos.

Abstract Sorption and desorption tests were carried out for competitive and non-competitive systems with isotherms to verify the presence of Cd and Pb in soils. The soils investigated were: (i) with natural content of organic matter and (ii) with residual content of organic matter. Hydrated nitrate salts of Cd and Pb diluted in 0.01 M calcium nitrate solution in six concentrations were used for the Cd solutions and, for the solutions of Pb, five concentrations. For multi-element solutions, mixtures of the simple Cd and Pb solutions in a 1:1 ratio were used. The results of the first stage tests (i) showed good adjustments of the experimental data to the isotherms of Langmuir, Freundlich and Linear, which did not occur for the tests in stage (ii). According to the tests (i), the organic matter was the soil attribute of dominant influence in the sorting mechanisms. The parameters Qo and Kd were adequate to evaluate the adsorption of the studied metals, especially Cd. In step (ii), there was a significant increase in metal retention, especially for element Pb in the samples of Haplic Cambisol (AM) and Red-Yellow Latosol1 (RO), justified by the combined action of (1) increasing the surface area of the mineral fraction, previously covered by organic matter; and (2) increase in soil pH. The Cd element was more bioavailable in relation to the Pb. This was confirmed by the high desorption values observed for Cd. The samples of Haplic Cambisol and Red-Yellow Latosol demonstrated greater capacity to retain Cd and Pb.

ABSTRACT The method of applying fertiliser to the soil affects grain productivity. The aim of this study was to determine the dynamics of phosphorus, potassium and sulphur in the arable layer of the soil during the third year of agricultural production, as a function of the method of application. The study took place in the district of Diamantino, Mato Grosso, in an area of soybean-maize succession under minimum tillage. Five treatments were tested in a randomised block design: no phosphorus or potassium (P0-K0); broadcast phosphorus and in-furrow potassium (Pb-Kf); in-furrow phosphorus and potassium (Pf-Kf); in-furrow phosphorus and broadcast potassium (Pf-Kb); broadcast phosphorus and potassium (Pb-Kb). When the soybeans reached physiological maturity, soil samples were collected from the 0-0.05, 0.05-0.10, 0.10-0.15 and 0.15-0.20 m layers for analysis of the pH, and P, K, S and organic matter content. The soil attributes were submitted to analysis of variance and Tukey’s test at 5%, and the nutrient dynamics in the soil profile were analysed by regression. The in-furrow application of phosphorus (Pf-Kb and Pf-Kf) improved P availability in the 0-0.05 m layer by 69.12% and 46.54% compared to the Pb-Kb treatment, by 73.93% and 50.71% compared to the Pb-Kf treatment, and by 136.77% and 105.16% compared to the P0-K0 treatment. The in-furrow application of phosphate fertiliser proved to be more effective in terms of phosphorus availability in the soil. The residual effect of broadcasting phosphate fertiliser on phosphorus availability in the soil can be seen from the third year of production onwards.

ABSTRACT Objective. To provide a comprehensive overview of geographical patterns (2001–2010) and time trends (1993–2012) of cancer incidence in children aged 0–19 years in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and interpret the findings in the context of global patterns. Methods. Geographical variations in 2001–2010 and incidence trends over 1993–2012 in the population of LAC younger than 20 years were described using the database of the third volume of the International Incidence of Childhood Cancer study containing comparable data. Age-specific incidence per million person-years (ASR) was calculated for population subgroups and age-standardized (WSR) using the world standard population. Results. Overall, 36 744 unique cases were included in this study. In 2001–2010 the overall WSR in age 0–14 years was 132.6. The most frequent were leukemia (WSR 48.7), central nervous system neoplasms (WSR 23.0), and lymphoma (WSR 16.6). The overall ASR in age group 15–19 years was 152.3 with lymphoma ranking first (ASR 30.2). Incidence was higher in males than in females, and higher in South America than in Central America and the Caribbean. Compared with global data LAC incidence was lower overall, except for leukemia and lymphoma at age 0–14 years and the other and unspecified tumors at any age. Overall incidence at age 0–19 years increased by 1.0% per year (95% CI [0.6, 1.3]) over 1993–2012. The included registries covered 16% of population aged 0–14 years and 10% of population aged 15–19 years. Conclusions. The observed patterns provide a baseline to assess the status and evolution of childhood cancer occurrence in the region. Extended and sustained support of cancer registration is required to improve representativeness and timeliness of data for childhood cancer control in LAC.

RESUMO Objetivo. Apresentar uma visão abrangente dos padrões geográficos (2001 a 2010) e das tendências temporais (1993 a 2012) da incidência de câncer em crianças e jovens de 0 a 19 anos na América Latina e no Caribe (ALC) e interpretar os resultados no contexto de padrões mundiais. Métodos. Foram descritas variações geográficas de 2001 a 2010 e tendências de incidência de 1993 a 2012 na população com menos de 20 anos da ALC usando informações comparáveis da base de dados do terceiro volume do estudo International Incidence of Childhood Cancer. Foram calculadas taxas de incidência específica por idade por milhão de pessoas-ano (ASR, na sigla em inglês) para subgrupos populacionais e taxas padronizadas por idade usando a população padrão mundial (WSR, na sigla em inglês). Resultados. No total, foram incluídos 36 744 casos únicos. No período de 2001 a 2010, a WSR para todos os tumores combinados na faixa etária de 0 a 14 anos foi de 132,6. Os diagnósticos mais frequentes foram leucemia (WSR de 48,7), neoplasias do sistema nervoso central (WSR de 23,0) e linfoma (WSR de 16,6). A ASR para todos os tumores combinados na faixa etária de 15 a 19 anos foi de 152,3, e a maior taxa foi a de linfoma (ASR de 30,2). A incidência foi maior no sexo masculino do que no sexo feminino e maior na América do Sul do que na América Central e no Caribe. De modo geral, em comparação com as estimativas mundiais, a incidência na ALC foi menor, exceto para leucemia e linfoma entre 0 e 14 anos e para outros tumores e tumores não especificados em qualquer idade. A taxa de incidência na faixa etária de 0 a 19 anos aumentou em 1,0% ao ano (IC de 95% [0,6, 1,3]) entre 1993 e 2012. Os registros incluídos cobriam 16% da população de 0 a 14 anos e 10% da população de 15 a 19 anos. Conclusões. Os padrões observados servem de referência para avaliar o status e a evolução da ocorrência de câncer infantil na região. É necessário garantir um apoio ampliado e consistente aos registros de câncer para aprimorar a representatividade e a disponibilidade das informações em tempo adequado para o controle do câncer infantil na ALC.

ABSTRACT Weeds have several mechanisms of dispersal and reproduction, resulting high spatial variability. The objective of this study was to assess the scale and spatial heterogeneity of weeds using multifractal analysis in a no-tillage system in the Pre-Amazon region. Sampling was conducted in a commercial soybean (Glycine max) production plot in the Mata Roma, Maranhão, Brazil, comprising 1,071 points marked on a 10 × 10 m grid. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multifractal analysis through the box-counting method. Weeds showed varying degrees of multifractality, resulting in different scales and spatial heterogeneity in the study area. Euphorbia hirta and Turnera subulata exhibited asymmetry of branches to the left in the singularity spectrum, indicating dominance of high measurement values.

RESUMO As plantas-daninhas possuem diversos mecanismos de dispersão e reprodução descrevendo elevada variabilidade espacial. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a heterogeneidade de escala e espacial de plantas-daninhas utilizando análise multifractal em sistema de semeadura direta na região Pré-Amazônia. A amostragem foi realizada em uma parcela de produção comercial cultivada com soja (Glycine max). Na área de estudo foram demarcados 1.071 pontos, em malha regular de 10 × 10 m, no município de Mata Roma (Maranhão, Brasil). Os dados foram analisados por meio da estatística descritiva e análise multifractal empregando o método box-counting. As plantas-daninhas apresentaram diferentes graus de multifractalidade, descrevendo maior ou menor heterogeneidade de escala e espacial na área de estudo. Euphorbia hirta e Turnera subulata apresentaram assimetria dos ramos do espectro de singularidade para a esquerda, indicando domínio de valores elevados de medidas.

ABSTRACT Inadequate management of pasture soils in the Amazon has resulted in a predominance of degraded pastures. Considering the natural characteristics of this region can favor more appropriate strategies for sustainability, the objective of this study was to evaluate the differences in the chemical and physical attributes of pasture and forest soils in the Southern Amazon and to identify the most sensitive attributes of their fertility. Additionally, this study suggests appropriate management practices for sustainable pastures. Soil samples from the 0 to 0.20 m layer were analyzed to determine pH, exchangeable bases (calcium, magnesium, and potassium), exchangeable aluminum, potential acidity, phosphorus, organic carbon, bulk density, and texture. Pasture soils had a higher pH, calcium content, and bulk density than forest soils. However, the pasture soils had lower phosphorus and organic matter content. The soil organic carbon stocks were also lower in pasture soils, with levels 0.8 to 12 Mg ha-1 lower than in forest soils. The fertility attributes most sensitive to soil management in these pastures were phosphorus, pH, organic carbon, and bulk density. The lack of nutrients and soil and water conservation practices have contributed to the degradation of these pastures. Therefore, the recommended management for these pastures should aim to improve the organic matter content, reduce compaction, and replenish and cycle nutrients.

RESUMO O manejo inadequado de solos de pastagens na Amazônia resulta em predomínio de pastagens degradadas. Considerando as características naturais dessa região pode favorecer estratégias mais adequadas para sua sustentabilidade, o objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar as diferenças de atributos químicos e físicos de solos de pastagens e florestas no sul da Amazônia e identificar os atributos mais sensíveis de sua fertilidade. Além disso, sugerir práticas de manejo mais adequadas para essas pastagens em direção à sustentabilidade. Amostras de solo da camada de 0 a 0,20 m foram analisadas para determinação de pH, bases trocáveis (cálcio, magnésio e potássio), alumínio trocável, acidez potencial, fósforo, carbono orgânico, densidade aparente e textura. Os solos de pastagem tiveram maior pH, cálcio e densidade aparente do que os solos de floresta. No entanto, os solos de pastagem apresentaram menores teores de fósforo e matéria orgânica. Os estoques de carbono orgânico do solo também foram menores nas pastagens, com teores de 0,8 a 12 Mg ha-1 inferiores aos solos da floresta. Os atributos de fertilidade mais sensíveis ao manejo do solo nessas pastagens foram fósforo, pH, carbono orgânico e densidade aparente. A carência de nutrientes e de práticas de conservação do solo e da água têm contribuído para o estado de degradação dessas pastagens. Portanto, o manejo recomendado para essas pastagens deve visar a melhoria da matéria orgânica, redução da compactação, além da reposição e ciclagem de nutrientes.

Resumo Lajes com fôrmas metálicas utilizadas durante a concretagem são um sistema estrutural misto composto de aço e concreto. O modo de falha por cisalhamento horizontal é o mais comum em lajes mistas com bases em numerosos estudos experimentais. Esta falha consiste na perda de aderência e contato mecânico do sistema misto e, frequentemente, ocorre antes do sistema atingir sua capacidade máxima à flexão plástica. Assim, o projeto deste sistema construtivo é determinado pela sua resistência ao cisalhamento longitudinal, que pode ser determinada pelo método semiempírico convencional m-k com base no ensaio de flexão de quatro pontos proposto por diversas normas. Um dos fatores conhecidos de maior influência na resistência ao cisalhamento longitudinal é a geometria das mossas presentes na fôrma metálica. Simulações computacionais por meio do método dos elementos finitos calibradas com base em resultados experimentais podem ser uma alternativa à realização deste tipo de ensaio. O presente trabalho modificou e adaptou uma metodologia que inclui explicitamente a geometria das mossas na análise de modo a usar materiais e produtos com características disponíveis para os engenheiros estruturais do Brasil e usou esta metodologia para derivar coeficientes m-k. Isto foi feito com o objetivo de simular numericamente o efeito de parâmetros relevantes para determinar a resistência ao cisalhamento longitudinal na interface aço-concreto de lajes mistas. Gráficos de força versus deslocamentos foram obtidos e os valores dos coeficientes m-k foram comparados com aqueles de outros autores na literatura. Abstract Slabs with cast-in-place steel formwork are composite structural elements composed of concrete and steel. The horizontal shear failure mode is the most common in composite slabs based on numerous experimental studies. This failure mode consists of loss of adherence and mechanical contact at the interface of the composite system and often occurs before the system reaches its full bending capacity. Thus, the design of this constructive system is determined by the value of the longitudinal shear strength, which can be computed by the semi-empirical so-called traditional m-k method based on the four-point bending test proposed by several standards. One of the most known factors to influence the longitudinal shear strength is the geometry of embossments present in the steel work. Calibrated computational simulation using the finite element method can be an alternative way to simulate this type of test. The present work modified and adapted a methodology explicitly including the geometry of embossments in the analysis in order to use materials and products with characteristics available to structural engineers in Brazil and used this methodology to derive m-k coefficients. This is being made with the objective of numerically simulating the effect of relevant parameters for determining the longitudinal shear strength at the concrete-steel interface of composite slabs. Force versus slip, force versus displacement graphs were obtained and the m-k coefficient values found were compared with those of other authors in the literature. RESUMEN Para conocer el tiempo y la frecuencia con que los ancianos están expuestos a noticias e informaciones sobre el COVID-19 por diferentes medios de comunicación y relacionarlos con los síntomas depresivos y de ansiedad, 154 ancianos (m = 69,06) del Distrito Federal respondieron a un cuestionario online. La muestra estaba compuesta mayoritariamente por mujeres, de raza blanca, con estudios y con ingresos por jubilación y/o pensión. Se comprobó que la televisión era el medio de comunicación más utilizado por los participantes, seguido de las redes sociales. Teniendo en cuenta las características demográficas, los más jóvenes (60 a 74 años) y con estudios superiores completos presentan una mayor exposición a las noticias a través de las redes sociales que los más mayores y con menor escolaridad. Los ancianos con cribado de depresión y trastorno de ansiedad generalizada permanecieron más horas expuestos a la información sobre COVID-19 emitida por televisión que los ancianos no cribados. Además, los que se sometieron a pruebas de detección de la depresión informaron de una mayor frecuencia de exposición a este contenido por parte de la televisión y los medios sociales. Los resultados de este estudio revelan la necesidad de planificar medidas de promoción de la salud y de prevención específicas para la población de edad avanzada con el fin de hacer frente a las consecuencias de la pandemia y, especialmente, de la infodemia de COVID-19.

ABSTRACT In order to know the time and frequency with which elderly are exposed to news and information about COVID-19 through different media and relate them with depressive and anxiety symptoms, 154 elderly (M = 69.06) from Distrito Federal answered an online questionnaire. The sample was composed mostly of women, white, educated, and with income from retirement and/or pension. It was found that television was the media most used by participants, followed by social networks. Considering demographic characteristics, younger elders (60 to 74 years old) and with complete college education had more exposure to news through social networks than the older ones and with less education. Elderly with screening for depression and generalized anxiety disorder remained exposed more hours to information about COVID-19 broadcast on television than unscreened elderly. In addition, those with screening for depression reported greater frequency of exposure to this content on television and social media. The results of this study reveal the need for health promotion and prevention measures planning specific to the elderly population to deal with the consequences of the pandemic and especially infodemic of COVID-19.

RESUMO A fim de conhecer o tempo e a frequência com que idosos se expõem a notícias e informações sobre a COVID-19 por diferentes mídias e relacioná-los com sintomas depressivos e de ansiedade, 154 idosos (M = 69,06) do Distrito Federal responderam a um questionário online. A amostra foi composta majoritariamente por mulheres, brancas, escolarizadas e com renda proveniente de aposentadoria e/ou pensão. Constatou-se que a televisão foi o meio de comunicação mais utilizado pelos participantes, seguido pelas redes sociais. Ao considerar características demográficas, idosos mais jovens (60 a 74 anos) e com ensino superior completo apresentaram maior exposição a notícias por meio das redes sociais do que os mais velhos e com menor escolaridade. Idosos com rastreio para depressão e transtorno de ansiedade generalizada permaneceram mais horas expostos a informações sobre a COVID-19 veiculadas pela televisão que idosos não rastreados. Além disso, aqueles com rastreio para depressão relataram maior frequência de exposição a esse conteúdo pela televisão e pelas redes sociais. Os resultados deste estudo revelam a necessidade de planejamento de medidas de promoção e prevenção em saúde específicas para a população idosa a fim de lidar com as consequências da pandemia e, especialmente, infodemia de COVID-19.

Resumo O objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar índices de competição dependentes da distância e definir um raio de influência competitiva entre árvores em um fragmento de Mata Atlântica sob recuperação florestal. A área em estudo possui 2,53ha, na qual foi realizado o inventário com intensidade amostral de 15,81%. Avaliaram-se três índices de competição e vinte distâncias para o raio de competição (1, 2, 3... e 20 m). O índice IC3, que relaciona o DAP de árvores competidoras com a aquele da árvore objetivo multiplicado pela distância entre as mesmas somado a uma unidade, se mostrou o mais adequado para representar a competição. Esse índice se correlacionou mais fortemente com os atributos biométricos, apresentou fundamentação biológica e a menor variabilidade com o aumento do raio de competição. Os índices de competição e suas respectivas variabilidades tenderam à estabilização a partir do raio de competição de, aproximadamente, 6 m. Conclui-se que o índice IC3 e o raio de competição de 6m são indicados para análises sobre relações entre a competitividade e aspectos biométricos no local de estudo.

Abstract This research aimed to evaluate distance-dependent competition indices and defining a radius of competitive influence among trees in an Atlantic Forest fragment under forest recovery. The study area has 2.53 ha, in which the inventory was carried out with a sampling intensity of 15.81%. Three competition indices and twenty distances for the competition radius (1, 2, 3... and 20 m) were evaluated. IC3 index, which relates the DBH of competing trees with the target tree multiplied by the distance between them plus one unit, proved to be the most adequate to represent competition. This index was strongly correlated with biometric attributes, having biological support and the lowest variability when increasing the competition radius. Competition indices and their respective variability tended to stabilize from the competition radius at approximately 6 m. It is concluded that IC3 index and 6 m competition radius are suitable when analyzing the relationship between competitiveness and biometric attributes at the study site.

RESUMO Introdução As doenças do foro cardiovascular são a principal causa de morte em Portugal e os Scores de Risco Cardiovascular são muito úteis na prevenção primária destas patologias. A prevenção do desenvolvimento e/ou progressão de patologias com elevada morbilidade e mortalidade para os trabalhadores pode estar incluída nas atividades desenvolvidas pela Saúde Ocupacional, no sentido de preservar a saúde e bem-estar dos trabalhadores. Objetivos O objetivo deste estudo é avaliar o Risco Cardiovascular dos trabalhadores de um Centro Hospitalar no intervalo de tempo entre 2011 e 2021. Metodologia O Risco Cardiovascular foi avaliado através do SCORE-2. Foram selecionados os trabalhadores que mantiveram funções laborais no Centro Hospitalar durante todo o período em análise. Os critérios de exclusão do SCORE-2 incluem patologia cardiovascular prévia, Diabetes mellitus, idade inferior a 40 anos ou superior a 69 anos. O SCORE-2 usa informações de pressão arterial, perfil lipídico, sexo, idade e hábitos alcoólicos. Resultados Selecionaram-se 345 trabalhadores. O valor mediano do risco cardiovascular dos trabalhadores em 2021 (Mediana=2,215%; IQR - InterQuartile Range/Amplitude Interquartil=3,0%) foi significativamente superior ao de 2011 (M=1,273%; IQR=1,8%). O risco cardiovascular em 2021 dos trabalhadores do Departamento de Gestão (M=3.173%; IQR=4.6%) foi superior ao dos trabalhadores do Departamento Médico (M=1.958%; IQR=1.9%). Não se encontraram diferenças significativas do risco cardiovascular dos trabalhadores segundo o seu grupo profissional, em 2011 [X2(7)=7,580; p>0,05] e em 2021 [X2(7)=7,427; p>0,05]. Não se encontraram diferenças significativas do risco cardiovascular dos trabalhadores segundo as suas habilitações literárias, em 2011 [X2(5)=3,412; p>0,05] e em 2021 [X2(5)=2,895; p>0,05]. Conclusões O conhecimento das características da população trabalhadora permite o desenvolvimento de planos personalizados, tendo em conta estilos de vida saudáveis, a fim de diminuir o Risco Cardiovascular destes trabalhadores. Com estes planos orientados para a diminuição do Risco Cardiovascular global da população de trabalhadores e das suas consequências na sua saúde, prevê-se uma redução do absentismo por doença, uma melhoria da qualidade de vida dos trabalhadores, um incremento na sua produtividade e consequente melhoria dos serviços prestados pela entidade empregadora.

ABSTRACT Introduction The cardiovascular diseases are the main death cause in Portugal and Cardiovascular Risk Scores are very useful to the primary prevention of these diseases. Prevention of the development and progression of diseases with high morbidity and mortality to the workers can be work out by Occupational Health, in the sense of preserving workers’ health and wellbeing. Objectives The aim of this study is to evaluate the Cardiovascular Risk of the workers of a Hospital Centre in the interval between 2011 till 2021. Methods The Cardiovascular Risk was evaluated by using SCORE-2. Workers were selected only if they worked through the entirety of this interval in this Hospital Centre. The SCORE-2’s exclusion criteria include previous cardiovascular disease, Diabetes mellitus, age lower than 40 years or higher than 69 years. SCORE-2 uses data from blood pressure, lipid panel, sex, age and tobacco use. Results There were selected 345 workers. The median cardiovascular risk of the workers in 2021 (Median=2,215%; InterQuartile Range=3,0%) was significatively higher than the cardiovascular risk of 2011 (M=1,273%; IQR=1,8%). The cardiovascular risk in 2021 of the workers from Administrative Department (M=3.173%; IQR=4.6%) was significatively higher than workers from Medical Department (M=1.958%; IQR=1.9%). There were no significant differences found of the workers’ cardiovascular risk among the professional group in 2011 [X2(7)=7,580; p>0,05] and in 2021 [X2(7)=7,427; p>0,05]. There were no significant differences found of the workers’ cardiovascular risk among the educational background in 2011 [X2(5)=3,412; p>0,05] and in 2021 [X2(5)=2,895; p>0,05]. Conclusions Knowledge about the working population characteristics allows the development of personalized planning regarding healthy lifestyles, to reduce the Cardiovascular Risk of these workers. With these plans designed to reduce the global Cardiovascular Risk of the working population and its consequences on their health, is predicted a reduction in sickness absenteeism, an improvement in the workers’ quality of life, better performance and consequently better services provided by the employer.

RESUMO Introdução As diversas mudanças ocorridas nas últimas décadas têm afetado diretamente a saúde dos trabalhadores, destacando-se os riscos psicossociais, que causam adoecimento físico ou psicológico. Os fatores de riscos psicossociais são importantes no processo de cuidado da saúde, incluindo a forma como o labor é organizado, os arranjos de tempo são determinados, as relações sociais ocorrem e o conteúdo e a carga de trabalho são estruturadas, em termos de demandas mentais e sociais, para cada trabalhador. Objetivo Verificar a influência da organização do trabalho nos riscos psicossociais de trabalhadores. Metodologia Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura utilizando Methodi Ordinatio, o qual permitiu fazer o ranqueamento dos trabalhos relevantes sobre o tema. Foram selecionados treze trabalhos para uma análise aprofundada. Resultados A taxa de transtornos mentais e comportamentais é maior, respetivamente, nos estados brasileiros do Rio Grande do Norte, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Distrito Federal, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia, São Paulo e Paraná; sendo os trabalhadores da administração pública os mais acometidos. Ficou demonstrado que as principais causas dos riscos psicossociais estão relacionadas com a jornada de trabalho (turnos prolongados e ritmo de trabalho intenso), seguida de falta de recursos e problemas de relações interpessoais. Discussão e conclusão As medidas de prevenção aos riscos psicossociais vão depender da situação com a qual o risco se associa, sendo de grande importância a intervenção organizacional na prevenção e gestão desses riscos.

ABSTRACT Introduction The various changes that have occurred in recent decades have directly affected the health of workers, especially the psychosocial risks that cause physical or psychological illness. Psychosocial risk factors are important in the health care process, including how work is organized, time arrangements are determined, social relationships occur, and content and workload are structured, in terms of mental and social demands for each worker. Objective Verify the influence of work organization on the psychosocial risks of workers. Methodology A systematic review of the literature was performed using Methodi Ordinatio, which allowed the ranking of relevant works on the subject. Thirteen papers were selected for an in-depth analysis. Results The rate of mental and behavioral disorders is higher, respectively, in the Brazilian states of Rio Grande do Norte, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Distrito Federal, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Bahia, São Paulo and Paraná; with public administration workers being the most affected. It was demonstrated that the main causes of psychosocial risks are related to the working day (long hours and intense work rhythm), followed by lack of resources and problems of interpersonal relationships. Discussion and conclusion Measures to prevent psychosocial risks will depend on the situation with which the risk is associated, and organizational intervention in the prevention and management of these risks is of great importance.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to verify the effect of the application of filter cake, via soil and in association with mineral fertilization, on sunflower cultivars (Helianthus annuus L.) and the chemical properties of the soil. The experimental design used was randomized blocks in a 3 × 2 factorial scheme with six replicates, totaling 36 experimental units. Three sunflower cultivars (Sany 66, Nusol 4140, and Nusol 4170) and two fertilization strategies (mineral fertilization with and without filter cake) were used. Resorting to the filter cake increased the oil concentration in Sany 66. Mineral fertilization did not significantly affect achene production, with mean values being 2561.58 kg ha-1. However, including filter cake resulted in a 21% increase in phosphorus (P) content in the 0-0.20 m soil layer in sunflower crops of the Nusol 4140 variety. Therefore, fertilization with filter cake, in combination with chemical fertilizers or alone, can be an effective strategy to increase soil P content and oil concentration in sunflower cultivation.

RESUMO Este estudo teve como objetivo verificar o efeito da aplicação de torta de filtro, via solo e em associação com a fertilização mineral, em cultivares de girassol (Helianthus annuus L.) e nas propriedades químicas do solo. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 3 × 2, com seis repetições, totalizando 36 unidades experimentais. Foram utilizadas três cultivares de girassol (Sany 66, Nusol 4140 e Nusol 4170) e duas estratégias de fertilização (fertilização mineral com e sem torta de filtro). O uso da torta de filtro aumentou a concentração de óleo na cultivar Sany 66. A fertilização mineral não afetou a produção de aquênios, sendo obtido valores médios de 2561,58 kg ha-1. No entanto, a inclusão da torta de filtro resultou em um aumento de 21% no teor de fósforo (P) na camada de solo de 0-0,20 m em cultivos de girassol da variedade Nusol 4140. Portanto, a fertilização com torta de filtro, em combinação com fertilizantes químicos ou isoladamente, pode ser uma estratégia eficaz para aumentar o teor de P no solo e a concentração de óleo no cultivo de girassol.

Abstract Micro and small companies have very simple administrative and operational structures. Based on this premise, it is expected that their practices related to strategic cost management will be similar to each other, regardless of the sectors of economic activity of which they are part. The objective of this article is to investigate cost management practices among micro and small companies that operate in the commercial, industrial and service sectors in search of evidence of mimetic isomorphism. To carry out this research, ninety micro or small companies were analyzed. Four groups of variables were analyzed: managers' experience, marketing aspects, organizational aspects and technical aspects of strategic cost management. Data were collected from conducting a survey. Two statistical techniques were used: Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test. The obtained results present significant statistical evidences about similarities concerning the practices related to cost management, indicating the presence of mimetic isomorphism between them. Resumo Micro e pequenas empresas possuem estruturas administrativas e operacionais bem simples. A partir dessa premissa, se espera que suas práticas referentes à gestão estratégica de custos se assemelhem entre si, independentemente dos setores de atividade econômica dos quais façam parte. O objetivo deste artigo é investigar práticas de gestão de custos entre micro e pequenas empresas que atuam nos setores comercial, industrial e de prestação de serviços em busca de evidências de isomorfismo mimético. Para a realização desta pesquisa, foram analisadas noventa empresas de micro ou pequeno porte. Quatro grupos de variáveis foram analisados: experiência dos gestores, aspectos mercadológicos, aspectos organizacionais e aspectos técnicos da gestão estratégica de custos. Os dados foram coletados a partir da realização de um survey. Duas técnicas estatísticas foram utilizadas: teste de Kruskal-Wallis e teste U de Mann-Whitney. Os resultados obtidos apresentam evidências estatísticas significativas sobre semelhanças acerca das práticas referentes à gestão de custos indicando a presença de isomorfismo mimético entre elas. Con base en esta premisa, se espera que sus prácticas relacionadas con la gestión estratégica de costos sean similares entre sí, independientemente de los sectores de actividad económica de los que formen parte. El objetivo de este artículo es investigar prácticas de gestión de costos entre micro y pequeñas empresas que operan en los sectores comercial, industrial y de servicios en busca de evidencias de isomorfismo mimético. Para llevar a cabo esta investigación se analizaron noventa micro o pequeñas empresas. Se analizaron cuatro grupos de variables: experiencia de los gerentes, aspectos de marketing, aspectos organizacionales y aspectos técnicos de la gestión estratégica de costos. Los datos fueron recolectados a partir de la realización de una encuesta. Se utilizaron dos técnicas estadísticas: prueba de Kruskal-Wallis y prueba U de Mann-Whitney. Los resultados obtenidos presentan evidencias estadísticas significativas sobre similitudes en las prácticas relacionadas con la gestión de costos, indicando la presencia de isomorfismo mimético entre ellas. Résumé Les PME ont des structures administratives et opérationnelles très simples. Partant de ce postulat, on s'attend à ce que leurs pratiques liées à la gestion stratégique des coûts soient similaires les unes aux autres, peu importe les secteurs d'activité économique auxquels elles appartiennent. L'objectif de cet article est d'étudier les pratiques de gestion des coûts parmi les PME qui opèrent dans les secteurs commercial, industriel et des services à la recherche de preuves d'isomorphisme mimétique. Pour mener à bien cette recherche, quatre-vingt-dix PME ont été analysées. Quatre groupes de variables ont été analysés: l'expérience des managers, les aspects marketing, les aspects organisationnels et les aspects techniques de la gestion stratégique des coûts. Les données ont été recueillies à la suite d'une enquête. Deux techniques statistiques ont été utilisées: le test de Kruskal-Wallis et le test U de Mann-Whitney. Les résultats obtenus présentent des preuves statistiques significatives de similitudes dans les pratiques liées à la gestion des coûts, indiquant la présence d'un isomorphisme mimétique entre elles.
