Resumo Os algoritmos meta-heurísticos resolvem problemas de optimização identificando a melhor combinação entre um conjunto de variáveis para melhorar uma função. Dentro da meta-heurística, o principal objetivo deste trabalho é mostrar o desenvolvimento de questões de investigação sobre processos relacionados com a optimização e a meta-heurística, com enfoque na projeção das questões com maior possibilidade de desenvolvimento. Os processos de optimização são um dos campos mais estudados em inteligência artificial, optimização, logística e outras aplicações As principais contribuições deste trabalho foram a identificação das principais questões contidas nos temas de optimização e meta-heurística de processos; uma análise da expansão e retração do referido tema; uma compreensão da convergência e divergência; e uma análise das fases de desenvolvimento tal como apresentadas nas lacunas dos cinquenta artigos mais frequentemente mencionados. O principal achado deste trabalho foi analisar o desenvolvimento de tópicos de investigação sobre processos de optimização e meta-heurística, concentrando-se na projeção dos tópicos mais susceptíveis de se desenvolverem.

Abstract Metaheuristic algorithms solve optimisation problems by identifying the best combination among a set of variables to enhance a function. Within metaheuristics, the main purpose of this work is that of showing the development of research issues about processes related to optimisation and metaheuristics, with a focus on the projection of those issues with greater possibility of development. Optimization processes is one of the most studied fields in artificial intelligence, optimization, logistics, and other applications The main contributions of this work were the identification of the main issues contained in the themes of process optimization and metaheuristics; an analysis of the expansion and retraction of the aforementioned theme; an understanding of convergence and divergence; and an analysis of the stages of development as presented in the gaps of the fifty most commonly mentioned articles. The main finding was to analyze the development of research topics on optimization processes and metaheuristics, focusing on projecting the topics most likely to develop.

O objetivo desta pesquisa é mostrar a aplicação dos métodos Desirabilitye Simplex,voltados à otimização do processo de têmpera e revenimento, em arames de aço trefilados SAE 9254. Os dados foram gerados a partir da aplicação da metodologia delineamento de experimentos, com análise em blocos, e os resultados revelaram que todas as variáveis consideradas no estudo têm influência significativa na obtenção das propriedades mecânicas investigadas. A modelagem estatística foi realizada através da aplicação do método de regressão linear múltipla, que permitiu a obtenção de modelos que representam adequadamente o processo em questão. Aos resultados das variáveis resposta limite de resistência à tração, estricção e dureza foram aplicados os métodos Desirability e Simplex e o processo foi otimizado na melhor condição de ajustes das variáveis de entrada em relação às suas especificações.

The objective of this research is to show the application of the desirability method and simplex method in aiming to optimize the process of quench hardening and tempering in SAE 9254 draw steel wires. The values were generated by applying the methodology design of experiments with the block analysis, and the results revealed that all the variables used in the study have a significant influence on obtaining the mechanical properties investigated. For the statistical modeling, the multiple linear regression method was applied to obtain models that adequately represent the case in question. The results of the response variables (tensile strength, yield point and hardness) were submitted to the desirability method and the simplex method, and the process was optimized by adjusting the variables of the input in relation to the given specifications.

O objetivo deste artigo é mostrar a aplicação das metodologias planejamento de experimentos com análise em blocos e regressão linear múltipla aplicadas ao estudo de um processo de tratamento térmico siderúrgico com múltiplas respostas. Por meio deste estudo buscou-se projetar modelos estatísticos que permitissem prever os resultados das propriedades mecânicas em arames de aço SAE 9254 trefilados, com diâmetros de 2,00 mm e 6,50 mm, após processo de têmpera e revenimento. Para isso foram investigadas as variáveis de entrada do processo (diâmetro, velocidade, temperatura de revenimento e concentração do polímero) e as suas influências sobre o limite de resistência à tração, a estricção e a dureza do material. Os resultados revelaram que todas as variáveis consideradas têm influência significativa na obtenção das propriedades mecânicas e os modelos obtidos foram validados utilizando-se análise de variância (ANOVA). A regressão linear múltipla permitiu representar o processo adequadamente e a análise gráfica possibilitou visualizar o comportamento das múltiplas respostas.

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate an application of the design of block experiments via analysis and multiple linear regression in the investigation of a steel thermal treatment process with multiple responses. The study aimed to design statistical models to predict the mechanical properties in SAE 9254 draw steel wires, with diameters of 2.00 mm and 6.50 mm, after quench hardening and tempering. For this purpose, process input variables (wire diameter, processing speed, tempering temperature and polymer concentration) were investigated regarding their influence on the material tensile strength, yield point and hardness. The results revealed that the mechanical properties of the steel wire are significantly influenced by the selected variables, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed to validate the design of the statistical models. Multiple linear regression allowed for an appropriate representation of the process, and graphical analysis was found to be very useful in displaying the behavior of the multiple responses.

O Chorume da cidade de Cachoeira Paulista apresenta uma relação DBO/DQO de aproximadamente 0,45. Apesar de apresentar fração de matéria orgânica biotratável, existe também a presença de material orgânico refratário no lixiviado, sendo necessário a utilização de processo de tratamento não convencional de efluentes. Utilizou-se neste tratamento o oxidante ozônio, na presença do íon férrico, o qual atua como catalisador na formação de radicais hidroxilas. O ozônio foi gerado por um sistema de discarga elétrica (efeito corona) com passagem de oxigênio de alta pureza. Foram tratados 900 ml de chorume in natura em um reator de borossilicato encamisado. A variável resposta analisada foi a concentração do Carbono Orgânico Dissolvido (DOC). Foram utilizados dois planejamentos exploratórios variando a vazão de O2 alimentada ao gerador, concentração de ferro (III) e potência do ozonizador, a fim de encontrar o ponto ótimo proporcional a maior taxa de degradação da matéria orgânica. Nestes planejamentos exploratórios foi possível se atingir uma porcentagem de degradação de DOC da ordem de 81,25 %.

Leachates exhibiting an unstable ratio of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) of approximately 0.45 are typical of new landfills in the City of Cachoeira Paulista, Brazil. Although the organic matter portion is bio-treatable, the presence of refractory leached organic material requires unconventional effluent-treatment processes. Leachate treatment with ozone oxidation, in the presence of ferric ions, acts as catalyst in the formation of hydroxyl radicals. Ozone was obtained by corona-discharge from high-purity O2 gas. The treatment was performed in natura in a jacketed borosilicate glass reactor containing 900 ml of leachate. The analyzed response variable was expressed as the concentration of dissolved organic carbon (DOC). In order to determine the optimal proportions to produce the greatest degradation rate for organic materials, variations in experimental O2 flow-fed to the generator, the Fe(iii) concentration, and the output of the ozonator were conducted over two experimental runs. Experimental models showed a DOC degradation on the order of 81.25%.

The use of artificial neural networks for prediction in hard turning has received considerable attention in literature. An often quoted drawback of ANNs is the lack of a systematic way for the design of high performance networks. This study presents a DOE based approach for the design of ANNs of Radial Basis Function (RBF) architecture applied to surface roughness prediction in turning of AISI 52100 hardened steel. Experimental factors are the number of radial units on the hidden layer, the algorithm employed to calculate the spread factor of radial units and the algorithm employed to calculate radial function centers. DOE is employed to select levels of factors that benefit network prediction skills. Experiments with data sets of distinct sizes were conducted and network configurations leading to high performance were identified. ANN models obtained proved capable to predict roughness in accurate, precise and affordable way. Results pointed significant factors for network design and revealed that interaction effects between design parameters have significant influence on network performance for the task proposed. The work concludes that the DOE methodology constitutes a better approach to the design of RBF networks for roughness prediction than the most common trial and error approach.

In order to investigate the action of the flocculating agents Panfloc and Panclar a full factorial design 2³ and a Central Composite design 2² were carried out. The control variables were the flocculant concentration, pH and temperature. The response variables were phenolic compounds reduction and spectral area reduction. The best conditions of treatment was hydrolyzate at pH 9 for both coagulants, but the use of Panfloc was more effective in the phenolic compounds reduction (73.9%) and spectral area reduction (65.8%).

Lipase de Candida rugosa na forma livre foi usada na síntese de butirato de butila pela esterificação direta de n-butanolcom ácido butírico. Um planejamento fatorial completo 2(4) foi empregado para determinar a influência da razão molar do álcool para ácido (1: 0,5-2,5), concentração de agente dessecante (0-20%), concentração de enzima (40-80 mg) e temperatura de incubação (30-60 °C) no rendimento de esterificação. A concentração de agente dessecante foi o fator mais significativo na esterificação, sendo sua influência negativa. O progresso da esterificação foi favorecido para substratos contendo ácido em excesso, mesmo em baixa concentrações de enzima (40 mg), sendo a conversão de 50%. Na região avaliada, a formação do butirato de butila (26,67 g/L) foi maximizada para razão molar (1:2,5), ausência de agente dessecante, concentração de enzima (80 mg) e temperatura de incubação de 30 °C.

Free lipase from Candida rugosa was used for the synthesis of butyl butyrate by direct esterification of butyric acid and butyl alcohol. A full factorial experimental design (2(4)) was employed to determine the effect of alcohol to acid ratio (1: 0.5-2.5), water adsorbent concentration (0-20%), enzyme concentration (40-80 mg) and incubation temperature (30-60 °C) on the esterification yield. Water adsorbent concentration has been found to be the most significant factor on the esterification reaction and its influence was negative. The extent of esterification was higher for substrates containing acid in excess even with a low enzyme concentration of 40 mg and 50% conversion was observed. The maximum predicted values for butyl butyrate yield (92.67%) can be attained with substrate containing acid in excess (molar ratio alcohol to acid 1:2.5), 80 mg enzyme concentration in the absence of water adsorbent at temperature incubation of 30 °C.
