Abstract We investigated the Biogran on bone repair and metabolism at several time-intervals upon grafting into rat tibia artificial defects. The biomaterial was thoroughly characterized in vitro, and its dissolution behavior upon immersion was assessed in simulated body fluid (SBF) solution for 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days. Biogran was also assessed by in vitro hydroxyapatite formation in SBF solution, which is a marker for bioactive behavior. In vivo, distal and proximal bone defects were performed in the Wistar rat's right tibia and filled according to the experimental groups: I) negative control, no filling; II) positive control, 10 mg of autogenous bone; and III) 10 mg of Biogran. Animals were euthanized at 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 10 weeks. Bone neoformation was analyzed using histomorphometry (proximal defect), and local levels of bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) were measured using the ELISA assay (distal defect). In vitro, the Biogran sample showed a fast dissolution rate within the first 7 days, parallel to the formation of the hydroxyapatite layer. In vivo, the sample was progressively resorbed at a higher rate within the first month until it became almost absent at week 10th. The sample presented similar or higher bone neoformation concerning the autogenous bone. BMP-2 levels were sustained in the Biogran group (around 200 pg/mg) and detected until the last experimental time with a significant difference compared with the controls. Results suggest Biogran is a candidate for hard tissue engineering even in highly active bone remodeling sites.

Abstract Introduction: Chronic kidney disease is usually asymptomatic, and its diagnosis depends on laboratory tests, with emphasis on serum creatinine and proteinuria. Objective: To assess knowledge on the role of serum creatinine as a biomarker of kidney function in a sample of the Brazilian population. Method: Cross-sectional observational study conducted in São Paulo (SP, Brazil), in which a random adult population was interviewed. Results: A total of 1138 subjects were interviewed, with a median age of 36 years old (27–52); 55.1% were female. Regarding the “creatinine” biomarker, 40.6% stated they had never performed such a test. When asked about their knowledge on the usefulness of this exam, only 19.6% knew its function. The other responses were “I don’t know” (71.6%), evaluating heart function (0.9%) and liver function (7.8%). Of those who reported they had already taken a creatinine test, only 29.4% correctly identified the role of creatinine. When dividing the groups into “knows” and “does not know” the function of creatinine, a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) was observed regarding level of education, female sex, being a healthcare student/worker, having ever measured creatinine, knowing someone with kidney disease and older age. In the multivariate analysis, the main variable related to knowing the creatinine role was having previously taken the test (OR 5.16; 95% CI 3.16–8.43, p < 0.001). Conclusion: There is a significant lack of knowledge about creatinine and its use in checkups. The results indicate that greater efforts are needed from healthcare professionals to raise awareness on the role of serum creatinine.

Resumo Introdução: A doença renal crônica costuma ser assintomática e seu diagnóstico depende da realização de exames laboratoriais, com destaque para a creatinina sérica e pesquisa de proteinúria. Objetivo: Avaliar em uma amostra da população brasileira o conhecimento sobre o papel da creatinina sérica como marcador de função renal. Método: Estudo observacional transversal realizado na cidade de São Paulo (SP, Brasil), em que foi entrevistada uma população adulta aleatória. Resultados: Foram entrevistados 1138 indivíduos, com idade mediana de 36 anos (27–52); 55,1% do sexo feminino. Com relação ao marcador “creatinina”, 40,6% afirmaram que nunca realizaram tal dosagem. Quando questionados quanto ao conhecimento sobre a utilidade desse exame, somente 19,6% sabiam a sua função. As outras respostas foram “não sei” (71,6%), avaliar o funcionamento do coração (0,9%) e fígado (7,8%). Dos que afirmaram já terem realizado o exame de creatinina, somente 29,4% acertaram a função da creatinina. Ao dividir os grupos em “sabe” e “não sabe” a função da creatinina, percebeu-se diferença estatisticamente significante (p < 0,05) em relação ao grau de escolaridade, sexo feminino, ser aluno/trabalhador da saúde, ter dosado creatinina alguma vez, conhecer alguém com doença renal e maior idade. Na análise multivariada, a principal variável relacionada com conhecer a função da creatinina foi ter realizado o exame anteriormente (OR 5,16; IC 95% 3,16–8,43, p < 0,001). Conclusão: Há grande desconhecimento sobre a creatinina e seu uso em check-ups. Os resultados indicam que é necessário maior esforço por parte dos profissionais de saúde para divulgar o papel da creatinina sérica.

Abstract Objective: To describe the health-related quality of life (QOL) in children with cerebral palsy (CP) associated with congenital Zika infection. Methods: Cross-sectional study of a consecutive series of children, followed in a referral multicentric rehabilitation network in Brazil. We invited the caregivers to respond to the Brazilian version of the Caregiver Priorities & Child Health Index of Life with Disabilities (CPCHILDTM) questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 26.0™. We used absolute and relative frequencies for categorical variables and mean and standard deviation for continuous variables. Results: The sample consisted of 193 children, at mean age of 50.3±7.6 months. We observed a predominance of children with cerebral palsy (CP) with Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) level V (93.7%). Epilepsy (88.4%) was the most common comorbidity. CPCHILDTM mean scores were activities of daily living (ADL)/personal care 43.2±12.6; positioning, transferring and mobility 33.7±16.5; comfort and emotions 84.4±15.2; communication and social interaction (CoSI) 48.2±24.3; health 70.9±17.1; and overall quality of life (OQOL) 72.1±17.1. Total score was 54.8±11.3. Conclusions: Among children with cerebral palsy (CP) related to congenital Zika syndrome, the quality of life (QOL) scores were very similar to other populations with cerebral palsy (CP). The activities of positioning, transferring and mobility had the greatest impact on health-related quality of life (QOL). Rehabilitation strategies and public policies should prioritize aspects related to mobility for this population.

RESUMO Objetivo: Descrever a qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde em crianças com paralisia cerebral associada à infecção congênita pelo zika. Métodos: Estudo transversal de série consecutiva de casos de crianças acompanhadas em uma rede multicêntrica de reabilitação no Brasil. Convidamos o(s) cuidador(es) a responder à versão brasileira do Caregiver Priorities & Child Health Index of Life with Disabilities (CPCHILDTM). A análise estatística foi realizada com o pacote estatístico Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 26.0™. Para variáveis categóricas, foram utilizadas frequências absolutas e relativas e, para variáveis contínuas, média e desvio padrão. Resultados: Cento e noventa e três crianças, com idade média de 50,3±7,6 meses, foram incluídas. Observou-se predomínio de crianças com paralisia cerebral Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) nível V (93,7%). Epilepsia (88,4%) foi a comorbidade mais comum. As pontuações médias do CPCHILDTM foram: atividades de vida diária/cuidados pessoais 43,2±12,6; posicionamento, transferência e mobilidade 33,7±16,5; conforto e emoções 84,4±15,2; comunicação e interação social 48,2±24,3; saúde 70,9±17,1; e qualidade de vida geral 72,1±17,1. A pontuação total foi 54,8±11,3. Conclusões: Entre as crianças com paralisia cerebral relacionada à síndrome do zika congênita, as atividades de posicionamento, transferência e mobilidade tiveram maior impacto na qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde, semelhantemente a outras etiologias de paralisia cerebral. As estratégias de reabilitação e as políticas públicas devem priorizar os aspectos relacionados à mobilidade dessa população.

Abstract We aimed to determine the herd and animal levels seroprevalence and associated factors for Toxoplasma gondii infections in cattle from the state of Paraíba, Northeastern Brazil. Herds (n = 434) and cows aged ≥ 24 months (n = 1,895) were randomly selected, and serum samples were tested with the immunofluorescence antibody test (IFAT) using as cutoff of 64. Of the 434 farms investigated, 197 had at least one seropositive cow (prevalence of 49.0%; 95% CI = 44.3%-53.8%), and the prevalence at animal level was 18.0% (95% CI = 5.3%-21.1%). The antibody titers ranged from 64 to 1024, with the most frequent titers being 64 (10.8%) and 128 (3.7%). The risk factors identified were property located in Sertão region (odds ratio [OR] = 3.07), property located in Agreste/Zona da Mata regions (OR = 2.00), animal purchasing (OR = 2.68), herd size of 34-111 animals (OR = 2.91) and herd size > 111 animals (OR = 6.97). The results suggest the wide distribution of T. gondii infections in cattle throughout the state of Paraíba, and the risk factors identified are not possible to correct.

Resumo Objetivou-se determinar a soroprevalência do rebanhos e de animais e os fatores associados à infecção por Toxoplasma gondii em bovinos do estado da Paraíba, Nordeste do Brasil. Rebanhos (n = 434) e vacas com idade ≥ 24 meses (n = 1.895) foram selecionados aleatoriamente, e as amostras de soro foram testadas com o teste de imunofluorescência (RIFI), usando-se como ponto de corte 64. Das 434 fazendas investigadas, 197 tiveram pelo menos uma vaca soropositiva (prevalência de 49%; IC 95% = 44,3%-53,8%), e a prevalência em nível de animais foi de 18% (IC 95% = 5,3%-21,1%). Os títulos de anticorpos variaram de 64 a 1024, sendo os títulos mais frequentes 64 (10,8%) e 128 (3,7%). Os fatores de risco identificados foram na propriedade localizada na região do Sertão ("odds ratio" [OR] = 3,07), na propriedade localizada na região do Agreste/Zona da Mata (OR = 2,00), na compra de animais (OR = 2,68), no tamanho do rebanho de 34-111 animais (OR = 2,91) e no tamanho do rebanho > 111 animais (OR = 6,97). Os resultados sugerem a ampla distribuição de infecções por T. gondii em bovinos em todo o estado da Paraíba, e os fatores de risco identificados não são passíveis de correção.

Abstract Objective To evaluate clinical characteristics and outcomes of COVID-19 patients infected with HIV, and to compare with a paired sample without HIV infection. Methods This is a substudy of a Brazilian multicentric cohort that comprised two periods (2020 and 2021). Data was obtained through the retrospective review of medical records. Primary outcomes were admission to the intensive care unit, invasive mechanical ventilation, and death. Patients with HIV and controls were matched for age, sex, number of comorbidities, and hospital of origin using the technique of propensity score matching (up to 4:1). They were compared using the Chi-Square or Fisher's Exact tests for categorical variables and the Wilcoxon for numerical variables. Results Throughout the study, 17,101 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, and 130 (0.76%) of those were infected with HIV. The median age was 54 (IQR: 43.0;64.0) years in 2020 and 53 (IQR: 46.0;63.5) years in 2021, with a predominance of females in both periods. People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and their controls showed similar prevalence for admission to the ICU and invasive mechanical ventilation requirement in the two periods, with no significant differences. In 2020, in-hospital mortality was higher in the PLHIV compared to the controls (27.9% vs. 17.7%; p = 0.049), but there was no difference in mortality between groups in 2021 (25.0% vs. 25.1%; p > 0.999). Conclusions Our results reiterate that PLHIV were at higher risk of COVID-19 mortality in the early stages of the pandemic, however, this finding did not sustain in 2021, when the mortality rate is similar to the control group.

Abstract Certolizumab pegol (CZP) is a Fab’ fragment of the humanized antibody with anti-TNF-α activity that is indicated as therapy for Crohn’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis. Using a BioSep-SEC-S3000 column (300 x 4.6 mm i.d., 5 µm particle size), a size exclusion liquid chromatography (SEC) method was developed. Mobile phase A consisted of 100 mM monobasic sodium phosphate and 200 mM sodium chloride (pH 7.0), while mobile phase B was ethanol (95:5, v/v), and the analysis was performed using a diode array detector (DAD) set to 214 nm and a flow rate of 0.5 ml min-1. In addition, a reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RP-LC) method based on gradient elution was developed on a Zorbax 300 SB C18 column (150 mm x 4.6 mm i.d., 3.5 µm particle size) kept at 80 °C. Mobile phase A was 0.1% (v/v) TFA in ultrapure water, and mobile phase B was a mixture of propanol, acetonitrile, ultrapure water and TFA (70 + 20 + 9.9 + 0.1, v/v) operated at a flow rate of 1.0 ml min-1, and DAD was applied at 214 nm. CZP elution was achieved with retention times of 5.6 min and 9.0 min for SEC and RP-LC, respectively.

ABSTRACT Capsicum peppers originate from the American continent. Their culinary and medicinal potential, first exploited by indigenous peoples over 7000 years ago is vast, however more studies are needed. Despite the existence of germplasm banks that house hundreds of accessions of the genus, only a little of this diversity is seen in large markets. In this respect, the morpho-agronomic characterization of the accessions allows not only the identification of the existing variability, but also the agronomic and commercial potential of the genotypes. Therefore, this study proposes to characterize and estimate genetic divergence between accessions of the Capsicum germplasm collection at the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) based on multicategorical traits. The species were identified and 29 accessions were characterized in a greenhouse, based on 31 multicategorical descriptors of the crop. The collected data were subjected to the Cole-Rodgers dissimilarity index and to hierarchical clustering (Nearest Neighbor) and optimization (Tocher’s) methods. Tocher's method was considered the most suitable to group the accessions of the germplasm bank. Results indicate that the multicategorical descriptors properly assess the diversity in the chosen method and display the existence of high variability in the collection, which can be used in Capsicum spp. breeding programs.

RESUMO Objetivos: analisar os sistemas de compreensão das desigualdades sociais pela enfermagem, naperspectiva de lideranças estudantis e representantes de organizações profissionais da enfermagem. Métodos: pesquisa qualitativa sustentada no referencial teórico da dialética marxista. Participaram do estudo três representantes de organizações profissionais e cinco líderes estudantis. Os dados foram obtidos de entrevistas individuais e submetidos à Análise de Discurso Crítica. Resultados: osdiscursos são marcados pelo comprometimento, identificação relacional e caracterizam a posição de obrigação e necessidade da enfermagem em atuar com os indivíduos em situações de desigualdades, indicando a responsabilização como prática social. Dentre as competências necessárias à enfermagem no enfrentamento das desigualdades sociais, a competência política é central e se associa à advocacia em saúde. Considerações Finais: conclui-se que a atuação sobre as desigualdades sociais é parte da construção histórica da enfermagem. Ressalta-se a importância histórica de Florence Nightingale e seu legado para atuação política e liderança daenfermagem.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the nursing systems of understanding and social inequalities from the perspective of student leaders and representatives of nursing professional organizations. Methods: qualitative research supported by the theoretical framework of Marxist dialectics. Threerepresentatives of professional organizations and five student leaders participated in the study. Datawere obtained from individual interviews and submitted to Critical Discourse Analysis. Results: thediscourses are marked by commitment, relational identification and characterize the position of obligation and necessity of nursing in acting with the individuals in situations of inequality, indicating accountability as a social practice. Among the competencies necessary for nursing in confronting social inequalities, political competence is central and is associated with health advocacy. Final Considerations: we conclude that acting on social inequalities is part of the historical construction of nursing. Here, we emphasized the historical importance of Florence Nightingale and her legacy for political action and leadership in nursing.

RESUMEN Objetivos: analizar sistemas de comprensión de desigualdades sociales por la enfermería, por perspectiva de liderazgos estudiantiles y representantes de organizaciones profesionales de enfermería. Métodos: investigación cualitativa sustentada en la dialéctica marxista. Participaron del estudio tres representantes de organizaciones profesionales y cinco líderes estudiantiles. Datos fueron obtenidos de entrevistas individuales y sometidos al Análisis de Discurso Crítico. Resultados: discursos son marcados por el comprometimiento, identificación relacional y caracterizan la posición de obligación y necesidad de la enfermería en actuar con los individuos en situaciones de desigualdades, indicando la responsabilización como práctica social. Entre las competencias necesarias la enfermería en el enfrentamiento de desigualdades sociales, competencia política y central y se relaciona la abogacía en salud. Consideraciones Finales: concluye que la actuación sobre las desigualdades sociales y parte de la construcción histórica de la enfermería. Resalta la importancia histórica de Florence Nightingale y su legado para actuación política y liderazgo de enfermería.

Resumo: Angiospermas da Estação Ecológica de Tapacurá (EET), localizada em um fragmento de Floresta Estacional Semidecidual de Terras Baixas, Floresta Atlântica, foram analisadas. Coletas botânicas foram realizadas para compor uma lista de espécies e essas espécies identificadas por comparação com espécimes depositados nos herbários HST, PEUFR e IPA, além de consultas a banco de dados online. Um total de 479 espécies foram identificadas, pertencentes a 81 famílias e 285 gêneros. As famílias mais ricas foram Fabaceae (68), Rubiaceae (25), Malvaceae (20), Myrtaceae (20), Cyperaceae (19), Poaceae (19), Bromeliaceae (18), Euphorbiaceae (17), Asteraceae (16) e Sapindaceae (14), que juntas representaram 49,27% do número total de espécies. Grande semelhança foi observada entre nossos resultados e levantamentos de outras florestas de várzea no nordeste do Brasil, com as famílias Fabaceae, Rubiaceae e Myrtaceae apresentando a maior riqueza de espécies. Este estudo adicionou 44 novas ocorrências para o Estado de Pernambuco, demonstrando a riqueza e abundância dos táxons de TES e a importância de sua conservação para a flora regional.

Abstract: Angiosperm species growing in a fragment of Lowland Semideciduous Seasonal Forest in the Tapacurá Ecological Station (TES) in Pernambuco State (Brazil) were surveyed. Botanical collections to compose a species list were undertaken and these species identified by comparisons with specimens deposited in the HST, PEUFR and IPA herbaria, in addition to online database queries. A total of 479 species were identified, belonging to 81 families and 285 genera. The families with the largest numbers of species were Fabaceae (68), Rubiaceae (25), Malvaceae (20), Myrtaceae (20), Cyperaceae (19), Poaceae (19), Bromeliaceae (18), Euphorbiaceae (17), Asteraceae (16), and Sapindaceae (14), which together accounted for 49.27% of the total number of species. Great similarity was observed between our results and surveys of other lowland forests in northeastern Brazil, with the families Fabaceae, Rubiaceae, and Myrtaceae having the greatest species richness. This study added 44 new occurrences for Pernambuco State, demonstrating the richness and abundance of TES taxa and the importance of their conservation to the regional flora.

Resumo Objetivo Identificar as competências e estratégias de ensino para abordagem das desigualdades utilizadas na formação em enfermagem, indicando convergências e divergências nas perspectivas de docentes e discentes de enfermagem. Métodos Pesquisa descritiva, dados obtidos de questionário online respondido por 183 discentes e 86 docentes/coordenadores(as) de cursos de graduação em Enfermagem das diferentes regiões do Brasil. As variáveis foram referentes à caracterização dos participantes, temáticas vinculadas às desigualdades, preparo para atuar nas desigualdades e estratégias para desenvolver competências. Foram criados escores para dimensionar o grau de abordagem das desigualdades e a concordância quanto ao preparo para lidar com públicos vulnerabilizados. Foi considerado nível de significância de 5%. Resultados Participaram do estudo majoritariamente mulheres, brancas, vinculadas a instituições de ensino público da região Sudeste do país. Houve alto grau de concordância quanto à abordagem das desigualdades na formação em enfermagem, exceto para a temática de Advocacia em Saúde. Identificou-se limites da formação para atuar junto às pessoas privadas de liberdade, indígenas e quilombolas. Temas relacionados à Desigualdade são ensinados especialmente por meio de ações de extensão, palestras/eventos, disciplinas obrigatórias e atividades práticas/estágios. Contraditoriamente, as aulas foram indicadas como a principal estratégia de ensino para o desenvolvimento das diversas competências frente às desigualdades, que devem ser apreendidas ao longo do curso. Conclusão Há alto grau de concordância nas perspectivas de docentes e discentes sobre a abordagem das desigualdades na formação em enfermagem, com exceção da abordagem de iniquidades em saúde. Indica-se a necessidade de expandir o olhar sobre grupos sociais historicamente negligenciados.

Abstract Objective To identify the competencies and teaching strategies to address the inequalities used in nursing education, indicating convergences and divergences in the perspectives of nursing professors and students. Methods This is a descriptive research, data obtained from an online questionnaire answered by 183 students and 86 professors/coordinators of undergraduate nursing courses from different regions of Brazil. The variables were related to the characterization of participants, themes linked to inequalities, preparation to act on inequalities and strategies to develop competencies. Scores were created to measure the degree of approach to inequalities and agreement on the preparedness to deal with vulnerable audiences. A significance level of 5% was considered. Results The study included mostly white women, linked to public education institutions in southeastern Brazil. There was a high degree of agreement regarding the approach to inequalities in nursing education, except for the theme of Health Advocacy. Training limits were identified to work with people deprived of liberty, indigenous and quilombola populations. Themes related to inequality are taught especially through outreach actions, lectures/events, compulsory subjects and practical activities/internships. Contradictorily, the classes were indicated as the main teaching strategy for developing the various competencies in the face of inequalities, which must be learned throughout the course. Conclusion There is a high degree of agreement in the perspectives of professors and students on the approach to inequalities in nursing education, with the exception of the approach to health inequities. The need to expand the view on historically neglected social groups is indicated.

Resumen Objetivo Identificar las competencias y estrategias de enseñanza para el abordaje de las desigualdades utilizadas en la formación en enfermería, indicando convergencias y divergencias en las perspectivas de docentes y de discentes de enfermería. Métodos Investigación descriptiva, datos obtenidos del cuestionario en línea respondido por 183 discentes y 86 docentes/coordinadores(as) de cursos universitarios de Enfermería de las distintas regiones de Brasil. Las variables se refirieron a la caracterización de los participantes, temáticas vinculadas a las desigualdades, preparación para actuar en las desigualdades y estrategias para desarrollar competencias. Se crearon puntuaciones para dimensionar el grado de abordaje de las desigualdades y del nivel de acuerdo y desacuerdo con relación a la preparación para manejarse con públicos en condiciones de vulnerabilidad. Se consideró un nivel de significación del 5 %. Resultados Participaron del estudio mayoritariamente mujeres, blancas, vinculadas a instituciones de enseñanza pública de la región Sureste del país. Se verificó un elevado de acuerdo con relación al abordaje de las desigualdades en la formación en enfermería, excepto para la temática de Abogacía en Salud. Se identificaron límites en la formación para actuar con las personas privadas de libertad, indígenas y comunidades cimarronas. Temas relacionados con la Desigualdad se enseñan especialmente por medio de acciones de extensión, conferencias/eventos, asignaturas obligatorias y actividades prácticas/pasantías. Contradictoriamente, las clases fueron indicadas como la principal estrategia de enseñanza para el desarrollo de las distintas competencias frente a las desigualdades, que se deben aprehender a lo largo del curso. Conclusión Hay un elevado grado de acuerdo en las perspectivas de docentes y de discentes sobre el abordaje de las desigualdades en la formación en enfermería, con excepción del abordaje de iniquidades en la salud. Se indica la necesidad de expandir la mirada sobre grupos sociales que históricamente padecieron negligencia.

Abstract Background Cathepsin D (CatD) is a lysosomal proteolytic enzyme expressed in almost all tissues and organs. This protease is a multifunctional enzyme responsible for essential biological processes such as cell cycle regulation, differentiation, migration, tissue remodeling, neuronal growth, ovulation, and apoptosis. The overexpression and hypersecretion of CatD have been correlated with cancer aggressiveness and tumor progression, stimulating cancer cell proliferation, fibroblast growth, and angiogenesis. In addition, some studies report its participation in neurodegenerative diseases and inflammatory processes. In this regard, the search for new inhibitors from natural products could be an alternative against the harmful effects of this enzyme. Methods An investigation was carried out to analyze CatD interaction with snake venom toxins in an attempt to find inhibitory molecules. Interestingly, human CatD shows the ability to bind strongly to snake venom phospholipases A2 (svPLA2), forming a stable muti-enzymatic complex that maintains the catalytic activity of both CatD and PLA2. In addition, this complex remains active even under exposure to the specific inhibitor pepstatin A. Furthermore, the complex formation between CatD and svPLA2 was evidenced by surface plasmon resonance (SPR), two-dimensional electrophoresis, enzymatic assays, and extensive molecular docking and dynamics techniques. Conclusion The present study suggests the versatility of human CatD and svPLA2, showing that these enzymes can form a fully functional new enzymatic complex.

RESUMO Objetivo: Construir e validar uma terminologia especializada de enfermagem para o cuidado a recém-nascidos com cateter venoso central de inserção periférica (PICC), com base no Modelo de Sistemas de Betty Neuman. Métodos: Estudo metodológico, realizado em uma maternidade pública, operacionalizado pelas etapas: extração dos termos de prontuários de neonatos em uso de PICC; normalização; mapeamento cruzado com a versão 2019/2020 da CIPE®; organização nos Sete Eixos; e validação de conteúdo com enfermeiros usando-se índice de validade de conteúdo e coeficiente kappa. Resultados: Extraíram-se 1.718 termos, sendo normalizados 372 termos pertinentes, estando 265 constantes e 107 não constantes. Foram validados 335 termos, sendo 246 constantes e 89 não constantes, os quais atingiram um índice de concordância e kappa ≥ 0,80. Conclusão: Identificaramse termos relevantes, que oportunizam a assistência aos recém-nascidos em uso de cateter venoso central; assim se contribuirá com um subconjunto terminológico para a informação na prática de enfermagem.

ABSTRACT Objective: To construct and validate a specialized nursing terminology for the care of newborns with peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICC), based on the Betty Neuman Systems Model. Methods: Methodological study, carried out in a public maternity hospital, operationalized by the steps: extraction of terms from medical records of neonates using PICC; normalization; cross-mapping with the 2019/2020 version of ICNP®; organization in the Seven Axes; and content validation with nurses using content validity index and kappa coefficient. Results: 1,718 terms were extracted, and 372 relevant terms were normalized, with 265 constants and 107 non-constants. A total of 335 terms were validated, 246 of which were constant and 89 were not constant, which reached an agreement index and kappa ≥ 0.80. Conclusion: Relevant terms were identified, which aid newborns using central venous catheters; thus, a terminological subset will be contributed to information in nursing practice.

Resumo Trichinella spp. é um parasito zoonótico de distribuição mundial detectado em carnívoros e onívoros de sangue quente e humanos. Até o momento, o Brasil é considerado pela Organização Mundial de Saúde Animal livre do ciclo doméstico da doença, enquanto o ciclo silvestre do parasito tem status de infecção em áreas limitadas. No entanto, em países vizinhos como a Argentina, larvas do parasito foram encontradas na fauna silvestre. O presente estudo teve como objetivo determinar a ocorrência de Trichinella spp. em animais silvestres atropelados no Paraná, Brasil. Amostras biológicas de 71 animais silvestres – 29 Didelphis albiventris, 11 Nasua-nasua, dez Cerdocyon thous, sete Dasypus novemcinctus, seis Leopardus gattulus, seis Sphiggurus spinosus e dois Puma concolor– coletadas de novembro de 2016 a novembro de 2021 foram submetidas à digestão artificial, seguindo a metodologia descrita do REGULAMENTO (CE) Nº2075/2005. Não foram encontradas larvas de Trichinella spp. nas carcaças dos animais selvagens atropelados. No entanto, considerando o amplo espectro de possíveis reservatórios que podem atuar como elo entre os ciclos silvestre e doméstico e considerando a condição atual da triquinelose silvestre no Brasil em áreas limitadas, o monitoramento frequente da fauna silvestre é necessário.

Abstract Trichinella spp. are zoonotic parasites that are widely distributed in warm-blooded carnivores and omnivores, including humans. Until the present moment, Brazil has been considered by World Animal Health Organization free from the domestic cycle of trichinellosis, whereas the parasite’s sylvatic cycle has the status of infection in limited zones. However, neighboring countries such as Argentina have reports of parasite larvae in the wild fauna. The present study aimed to determine the occurrence of Trichinella spp. in road-killed wild animals in Paraná, Brazil. Biological samples from 71 wild animals—29 Didelphis albiventris, 11 Nasua nasua, ten Cerdocyon thous, seven Dasypus novemcinctus, six Leopardus guttulus, six Sphiggurus spinosus and two Puma concolor—collected from November 2016 to November 2021 were subjected to artificial digestion, following the methodology described in the REGULATION (EC) No. 2075/2005. No Trichinella spp. larvae were detected in the carcasses of the road-killed wild animals. However, considering the wide spectrum of possible reservoirs that could act as a link between the sylvatic and domestic cycles and considering the current Brazilian status of sylvatic trichinellosis in limited zones, frequent monitoring of wild fauna remains necessary.

Resumo Introdução Este estudo relata o caso de um carcinoma adenoide cístico (CAC) de glândula de Bartholin com transformação de alto grau. O CAC de glândula de Bartholin é um tumor raro, e sua transformação de alto grau é relatada somente em tumores de cabeça e pescoço. Relato de caso Paciente de 77 anos de idade, do sexo feminino, com lesão vulvar não ulcerada na topografia da glândula de Bartholin direita. A paciente foi submetida a ressecção do tumor e realização de retalho em V-Y, seguidas de radioterapia adjuvante. O exame histopatológico revelou CAC primário de glândula de Bartholin, com áreas de transformação de alto grau e invasão perineural. O estudo imunohistoquímico com p53 mostrou reação positiva difusa e intensa em áreas com transformação de alto grau. Após 24 meses de seguimento, a paciente apresentou metástases à distância e faleceu, apesar de ter sido submetida a quimioterapia. Conclusão Pelo que sabemos, este caso é a primeira descrição na literatura de transformação de alto grau em CAC de glândula de Bartholin, e a transformação de alto grau parece estar associada à agressividade do tumor.

Abstract Introduction In the present study, we report a case of primary adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of the Bartholin gland with high-grade transformation (HGT). Adenoid cystic carcinoma of the Bartholin gland is a rare tumor and HGT has only been reported in head and neck tumors. Case Report A 77-year-old woman with a non-ulcerated vulvar lesion on the topography of the right Bartholin gland. The patient was submitted to tumor resection followed by V–Y island flap and adjuvant radiotherapy. The histopathological examination revealed primary ACC of the Bartholin gland, with areas of HGT and extensive perineural invasion. The immunohistochemical study with p53 showed a diffuse and strong positive reaction in areas with HGT. After 24 months of follow-up, the patient presented distant metastases and died, despite having undergone to chemotherapy. Conclusion As far as we know, this case is the first description in the literature of HGT in ACC of the Bartholin gland, and HGT appears to be associated with tumor aggressiveness.

Resumo Introdução Síndrome de burnout (SB) é um distúrbio emocional caracterizado por extremo esgotamento físico e mental decorrente de situações laborais estressantes. Já depressão é uma alteração afetiva decorrente de experiências pessoais negativas, sem referência a contextos específicos. Objetivo Analisar possível associação entre burnout e tensão emocional e depressão em profissionais de enfermagem de um hospital em Campina Grande, Paraíba. Método O delineamento foi quantitativo-correlacional, sendo “tensão emocional e depressão” a variável dependente e os fatores de burnout (“exaustão emocional” – EE; “cinismo” – CI; “ineficácia no trabalho” – IT) variáveis independentes, não pressupondo relações de causalidade. Participaram 220 sujeitos. Foram aplicados os instrumentos MBI (HSS), QSG-12 e Ficha Sociodemográfica. Foram efetuadas análises descritivas, de correlação (Spearman) e de regressão. Resultados Da amostra, 15% apresentaram elevada EE, 8,6%, moderada tensão, e 3,2%, depressão. Foi observada predição compartilhada entre os três fatores da SB com a “tensão emocional e depressão”, sendo EE o mais forte preditor, explicando 17% da variância. Conclusão Os dados oferecem forte sugestão de que elevados níveis de EE influenciam a depressão, sendo imprescindível enfrentá-los e oferecer suporte psicológico, educativo e material para a recomposição da energia física e mental sugada pela sobrecarga laboral.

Abstract Background Burnout Syndrome (BS) is an emotional disorder characterized by extreme physical and mental exhaustion resulting from stressful work situations; depression is an affective alteration resulting from negative personal experiences, without reference to specific contexts. Objective to analyze a possible association between burnout and emotional tension and depression in nursing professionals at a hospital in Campina Grande - PB. Method The design was quantitative-correlational, with Emotional Tension and Depression as the dependent variable and the burnout factors (Emotional Exhaustion - EE, Cynicism - CI, Ineffectiveness at Work - IT) independent variables, not assuming causal relationships. The participants were 220 individuals The instruments MBI (HSS), QSG-12, and Sociodemographic Record were applied. Descriptive, correlation (Spearman), and regression analyzes were performed. Results 15% of the sample shows high EE, 8.6% moderate tension, and 3.2% depression. There was a shared prediction between the three factors of BS with Emotional Tension and Depression, with EE being the strongest predictor, explaining 17% of the variance. Conclusion The data offer a strong suggestion that high levels of EE influence depression, and it is essential to face them by offering psychological, educational, and material support to restore the physical and mental energy caused by work overload.
