Resumen El nitrógeno (N) y el azufre (S) son nutrientes, que además de influir en el crecimiento y producción de las plantas, interfieren en procesos relacionados con la calidad del fruto poscosecha. En el presente estudio se evalúo interacción N x S en la calidad poscosecha de tomate( Solanum lycopersicum L.). El experimento fue conducido en invernadero utilizando vasos de 5 dm3 de capacidad que contenian una capa de 0-20 cm de un Latosol Rojo distroférrico. Se utilizó un diseño factorial 5 x 3, con combinaciones de cinco dosis de N (0, 100, 200, 300 y 400 mg dm-3) y de tres de S (0, 60 y 120 mg dm-3) distribuidas en un diseño completamente aleatorio, con cuatro repeticiones. Después de la cosecha se evaluaron los atributos de la calidad del fruto: firmeza, pH, sólidos solubles (SS), acidez titulable (AT), relación sólidos solubles y acidez titulable (SS/AT), vitamina C, licopeno y betacaroteno. Se observó un aumento de la firmeza, así como del contenido de solidos solubles, acidez titulable y la relación SS/AT de los frutos como resultado la interacción N x S. No obstante esta interacción favoreció la reducción de los contenidos de vitamina C, licopeno y betacaroteno, y las características de calidad de fruto del tomate en relación con los valores recomendados. Sólo las dosis crecientes de N favorecieron un mayor pH en los frutos de tomate.

Abstract Nitrogen (N) and sulfur (S) are nutrients that, in addition to influencing plant growth and production, interfere with processes related to postharvest fruit quality. In the present study, N x S interaction was evaluated in the postharvest quality of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.). The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse using 5 dm3 capacity vessels containing a 0-20 cm layer of a dystropherric Red Latosol. A 5 x 3 factorial design was used, with combinations of five doses of N (0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 mg dm-3) and three doses of S (0, 60 and 120 mg dm-3) distributed in a completely randomized design, with four repetitions. After harvest, the attributes of fruit quality were evaluated: firmness, pH, soluble solids (SS), titratable acidity (AT), soluble solids ratio and titratable acidity (SS / AT), vitamin C, lycopene and beta-carotene. An increase in firmness was observed, as well as the content of soluble solids, titratable acidity and the SS / AT ratio of the fruits as a result of the interaction N x S. However, this interaction favoured the reduction of the contents of vitamin C, lycopene and beta-carotene, and the quality characteristics of tomato fruit in relation to the recommended values. Only the increasing doses of N favoured a higher pH in the tomato fruits.

O manejo da adubação nitrogenada é complexo em razão das diversas transformações do nitrogênio que ocorrem no sistema solo-planta-atmosfera, diminuindo a eficiência da adubação, produtividade e a margem de lucro das áreas de produção de milho. Neste trabalho, objetivou-se avaliar o efeito de diferentes doses de uréia comum e com NBPT [N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide] na produtividade e eficiência da adubação nitrogenada na cultura do milho, correlacionado com análise econômica simples. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos completos casualizados com seis repetições, em esquema fatorial 2 x 4, constituídos por duas fontes de N (uréia comum e uréia tratada com NBPT) e quatro doses de nitrogênio em cobertura (60, 120, 180 e 240 kg ha-1). As fontes e doses de nitrogênio influenciaram na produtividade e nos teores de N da folha e dos grãos, enquanto que os componentes de produção (tamanho e diâmetro da espiga e porcentagem de palha e sabugo) não foram alterados. A eficiência agronômica da adubação nitrogenada diminuiu com o aumento das doses de N aplicadas em cobertura. A maior margem bruta de ganho da cultura do milho é obtida com aplicação de uréia tratada com NBPT, na dosagem de 180 kg ha-1.

The management of nitrogen fertilization is complex due to the various transformations of the nitrogen that occur in the soil-plant-atmosphere system, reducing the efficiency of the fertilization, productivity and the profit margin of the maize production areas. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different levels of common urea and urea treat with NBPT [N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide] on the productivity and efficiency of the nitrogen fertilization in maize, correlated with simple economic analysis. The design of the field experiment was in randomized complete blocks with six repetitions, in a 2 x 4 factorial outline, made up of by two sources of nitrogen (urea and NBPT-treated urea) and four levels of nitrogen as top dressing (60, 120, 180 and 240 kg ha-1). The sources and applied nitrogen levels influenced the productivity and the leaf and grain nitrogen contents, while the production components (size and diameter of the ear, and percentage of straw and cob) were not altered. The agronomic efficiency of the nitrogen fertilization decreased with the increase of the applied nitrogen levels. The highest gross profit margin in the maize culture is obtained with 180 kg ha-1 of nitrogen supplied in the NBPT-treated urea.

O presente estudo foi desenvolvido sob condições de campo, visando avaliar a eficiência no uso e no aproveitamento do nitrogênio pelo capim-marandu por meio de diversos índices. O experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda Modelo da Universidade Estadual de Goiás (UEG) num Latossolo Vermelho distrófico, no período de julho de 2003 a março de 2006. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi de blocos ao acaso, com três repetições. Os tratamentos nas parcelas foram caracterizados por um fatorial 2 x 4, sendo duas fontes de N (sulfato de amônio e uréia) e quatro doses de N (0, 100, 200 e 300 kg/ha). Na subparcela, os tratamentos foram representados pelos anos (2004, 2005 e 2006), referentes ao tempo de recuperação da pastagem. A adubação nitrogenada foi parcelada em três aplicações após cada corte de avaliação da forrageira. Foram realizados três cortes da forrageira por ano, avaliando-se a massa seca e os teores de N nos tecidos. Com esses resultados, avaliaram-se os índices de Eficiência de Utilização do N (EUN), Recuperação do N Aplicado (RNA), Eficiência Agronômica do N Aplicado (EA) e Eficiência Fisiológica (EF) ou Eficiência Biológica. Os resultados mostraram que a EUN aumentou, enquanto que a RNA, EA e a EF diminuíram com o aumento das doses de N aplicadas. Em todos os casos, os índices foram influenciados pelos anos de recuperação da forrageira estudados, mas não pelas fontes de N.

This study was accomplished under field conditions, to evaluate the use and efficiency of nitrogen uptake, through various indexes, in pasture of Brachiaria brizantha. The experiment was conduced at the Model Farm of the Goiás State University in a distrophic Dark Red Latosol, from 2003 July to 2006 March. The experimental design was randon blocks, with three replicates. The treatments were placed in parcels characterized by a 2x4 factorial, with two sources of N (ammonium sulfate and urea) and four doses of N (0, 100, 200 and 300 kg/ha/year). In sub - parcel, the treatments were represented per years (2004, 2005 and 2006) refering to time of pasture recovery. The use of nitrogen was divided in three times, after each cut evaluation of the forage pasture. Three cuts were made per year, evaluating dry mass and N accumulation in the tissue. Nitrogen Utilization Efficiency, Recovery from the N Applied, Agronomic Efficiency from the N Applied, Physiological or Biological Efficiency indexes were evaluated. The results showed that EUN increased, while RNA, EA and EF reduced with the increase in the N doses applied. In all cases, the indexes were influenced by the years of recovery the herbage, and not by the sources of N.
