Resumo Objetivo: Comparar imagens renais ultrassonográficas obtidas de maneira aleatória e controlada (padronizando fatores físicos do aparelho de ultrassom) por diferentes profissionais e aparelhos. Materiais e Métodos: Foram obtidos quatro tipos de imagens, de acordo com sua aquisição e processamento por cinco profissionais e dois tipos de aparelhos de ultrassonografia, em 24 pacientes, totalizando 919 imagens. Comparamos a mediana de escala de cinza e diferentes intervalos de tons de cinza representantes de tecidos histológicos virtuais. Resultados: As medianas de escala de cinza de imagens renais obtidas por dois tipos de aparelhos foram estatisticamente diferentes (p < 2.2e-16). Analisando os quatro tipos de imagens, partindo de uma totalmente aleatória (sem qualquer padronização), uma padronizada (fixado o ganho, time gain control e dynamic range), e essas duas passando por um processo de normatização, obteve-se que a imagem aleatória é totalmente diversa entre os profissionais (p = 0,006098), mesmo passando pelo processo de normatização. A imagem padronizada, após passar pelo processo de normatização, apresentou resultados equivalentes, não possuindo diferença estatística (p = 0,7319). Conclusão: Constatou-se que na análise de tons de cinza deve-se usar um mesmo tipo de máquina e uma imagem em que sejam padronizados aspectos físicos, passando por um processo de normatização/padronização.

Abstract Objective: To compare ultrasound images of the kidney obtained, randomly or in a controlled manner (standardizing the physical aspects of the ultrasound system), by various professionals and with different devices. Materials and Methods: We evaluated a total of 919 images of kidneys, obtained by five professionals using two types of ultrasound systems, in 24 patients. The images were categorized into four types, by how they were acquired and processed. We compared the gray-scale median and different gray-scale ranges representative of virtual histological tissues. Results: There were statistically significant differences among the five professionals, regardless of the type of ultrasound system employed, in terms of the gray-scale medians for the images obtained (p < 2.2e-16). Analyzing the four categories of images-a totally random image (without any standardization); a standardized image (with fixed values for gain, time gain control, and dynamic range); a normalized version of the random image; and a normalized version of the standardized image-we determined that the random image, even after normalization, differed quite significantly among the professionals (p = 0.006098). The analysis of the normalized version of the standardized image did not differ significantly among the professionals (p = 0.7319). Conclusion: Our findings indicate that a gray-scale analysis of ultrasound images of the kidney performs better when the image acquisition process is standardized and the images undergo a process of normalization.

RESUMO Áreas naturais de elevada diversidade biológica estão sendo degradadas para suprir a necessidade do homem em convertê-las em usos diversos. A restauração ecológica por meio da transposição de serapilheira possibilita o reestabelecimento dos processos ecológicos e pode contribuir com o aumento de microrganismos. Objetivou-se avaliar a influência da serapilheira na comunidade de fungos micorrízicos em uma área de Cabreúva, SP. Dez parcelas foram delimitadas, sendo cinco controle e cinco com tratamento. Foram coletadas amostras de solo em dois períodos para análises físicas, químicas e microbiológicas. Os resultados indicaram que as condições edáficas do local condizem com a presença de FMA, a matéria orgânica transposta não promoveu aumento da riqueza de espécies e não facilitou a colonização de espécies vegetais, enquanto que a umidade gravimétrica e a gramínea podem ter influenciado na riqueza de espécies.

ABSTRACT Natural areas of high biological diversity are being degraded to meet man’s need to convert them to various uses. The ecological restoration through litter transposition enables for the reestablishment of ecological processes and may contribute to the increase of microorganisms. It aimed to evaluate the influence of litter on the community of mycorrhizal fungi in an area of Cabreúva, São Paulo State, Brazil. Ten plots were delimited, five control and five treatment. Soil samples were collected during two distinct periods for physical, chemical and microbiological analysis. Results indicated that the edaphic conditions of the place are consistent with the presence of AMF; also, the transposed organic matter did not increase species richness and did not facilitate the colonization of plant species, whereas gravimetric humidity and grass may have influenced species richness.

ABSTRACT. The objectives were to evaluate the biodiversity of bees, forage behavior and their effect on fruit production in the gherkin crop (Cucumis anguria L.) in the campus of the University Center Moura Lacerda in two years. The frequency and type of collection of the insects in the flowers was observed by counting from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the first 10 minutes of each time, for three distinct days in each year. The percentage of fruiting was quantified in 25 female flowers covered with nylon compared to the 25 female flowers uncovered in the two years. The flowers were visited by the Africanized honey bees Apis mellifera and the native bees Plebeia sp., Exomalopsis sp. and Melissodes sp., and the Africanized honey bees presented higher frequency and constancy with a higher number of visits in the male flowers compared to the female ones and these visits occurred between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Without the visitation of the bees there was no fruit production, and both the Africanized honey bee and the native ones when collecting nectar and pollen, visited both female and male flowers, carrying pollen in their body, being considered important pollinators of this culture.

OBJETIVOS: analisar a influência do zumbido na qualidade de vida dos pacientes; verificar a relação entre grau de incômodo do zumbido e presença de perda auditiva concomitante. MÉTODO: estudo observacional transversal com amostra de conveniência. Foram aplicados anamnese e questionário com enfoque das características clínicas do zumbido em 22 pacientes. Para análise dos dados, foi aplicado o Teste exato de Fisher, com nível de significância de 5% (p < 0,05). RESULTADOS: dos 22 pacientes, 7 ( 31,8%) apresentaram audição normal e 15 (68,2%) apresentaram algum tipo de perda auditiva. Dos pacientes possuidores de perda auditiva, 12 apresentaram perda auditiva neurossensorial em pelo menos uma das orelhas e 3 perda mista uni ou bilateral. Quanto ao grau de incômodo, utilizando a escala análogo-visual, 17 (77,27%) dos pacientes relataram incômodo intenso, ao passo que 5 (22,72%) consideraram grau reduzido de incômodo gerado por esse sintoma. Foi evidenciado que o zumbido impacta mais as emoções e o sono dos pacientes, do que a concentração e realização de atividades sociais. CONCLUSÕES: dos 22 pacientes com zumbido, encaminhados para realização do PEATE, 70% apresentam zumbido e perda auditiva associada. No entanto, não houve relação entre a presença de zumbido e presença de perda. Não houve ainda relação entre o grau de incômodo e presença de perda.

PURPOSE: to analyze life quality in patients that suffer from tinnitus; to check the relation between degree of tinnitus' annoyance and presence of concomitant hearing loss. METHOD: transversal observational study, , with convenience sample. Anamneses were applied focusing tinnitus symptom over 22 patients. In order to analyze data we used Fisher's Exact Test within a 5% significance level. RESULTS: 31.8% of the sample had tinnitus concomitant with normal hearing bilaterally; 68.2% had tinnitus concomitant with some type of hearing loss in one or both ears. In this case, 12 patients showed sensorioneural hearing loss and 03 patients had mixed loss. As for the degree of annoyance referred from tinnitus symptom, using the visual analog scale, 17 (77.27%) patients reported intense discomfort, whereas 5 (22.72%) reported restricted discomfort. Regarding tinnitus' interference in the quality of life, it was possible to note that tinnitus impacts most in patients' emotions and sleep. CONCLUSIONS: from 22 patients referred to take PEATE's exam, 70% of the survey had hearing loss concomitant with tinnitus. However, the relation between tinnitus and hearing loss was not evidenced. We neither found any relation between degree of hearing loss and annoyance.
