Resumen: El objetivo de este trabajo fue comprender la percepción de los padres de adolescentes con alta capacidad intelectual/superdotación (AC/SD) sobre la dinámica familiar y las prácticas educativas utilizadas, los indicadores de problemas emocionales/conductuales y las perspectivas de futuro relacionadas con los hijos. Se trata de una investigación exploratoria y cualitativa, en la que participaron tres madres y dos padres. Todos respondieron individualmente a una entrevista semiestructurada con 15 temas que trataban sobre la rutina familiar, prácticas educativas y las preocupaciones sobre los hijos. El análisis temático deductivo indicó que los padres identificaron las altas habilidades de sus hijos, pero que necesitaban información adicional para manejar tales características. En algunos casos se observó escasa interacción familiar y la coexistencia de prácticas autoritativas y autoritarias en una misma familia. Se verificó el miedo con la expresión de agresión y aislamiento de los niños y cuánto esto podría promover la participación en actos ilegales. Se descubrió que estaban atentos a los adolescentes, pero les preocupaba cómo educarlos.

Abstract: The objective of this study was to understand the perception that parents of adolescents with high intellectual abilities or giftedness (HIAs/G) have regarding family dynamics, educational practices used, indicators of emotional/behavioral problems, and prospects for their children. This is an exploratory and qualitative research, in which three mothers and two fathers participated. All of them individually answered a semi-structured interview consisting of 15 topics that dealt with family routine, educational practices and their concerns with their children. Deductive thematic analysis indicated that the parents identified their children’s high intellectual abilities but needed additional information to manage these traits. There was a poor family routine in some cases, as well as the coexistence of authoritative and authoritarian practices in the same family. It was possible to observe that the parents feared their children’s expression of aggressiveness and isolation, and how much this could lead to these young individuals committing illegal acts. Thus, it was found that the parents are attentive to their children but have doubts about how to educate them.

Resumo: Objetivou deste trabalho foi compreender a percepção de pais de adolescentes com altas habilidades ou superdotação (AH/SD) intelectiva sobre dinâmica familiar, práticas educativas utilizadas, indicadores de problemas emocionais/comportamentais e perspectivas de futuro em relação aos filhos/as. Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória e qualitativa, da qual participaram três mães e dois pais. Todos responderam individualmente uma entrevista semiestruturada constituída por 15 tópicos que versavam sobre rotina familiar, práticas educativas e preocupações parentais com os filhos. A análise temática dedutiva indicou que os pais identificaram as altas habilidades dos filhos, porém necessitavam de informações adicionais para gerenciar tais características. Observou-se uma interação familiar carente em alguns casos e a coexistência de práticas autoritativas e autoritárias em uma mesma família. Constatou-se o receio com a expressão de agressividade e isolamento dos filhos/as e o quanto isso poderia propiciar o envolvimento em atos ilícitos. Assim, verificou-se que os pais estão atentos aos filhos, mas apresentam dúvidas sobre como educá-los.

RESUMO Objetivo: Relatar a independência funcional e o grau de comprometimento pulmonar em pacientes adultos 3 meses após a alta da unidade de terapia intensiva. Métodos: Este foi um estudo de coorte retrospectiva conduzido em uma unidade de terapia intensiva multiprofissional para pacientes adultos em um único centro. Incluíram-se pacientes admitidos à unidade de terapia intensiva entre janeiro de 2012 e dezembro de 2013 que, 3 meses mais tarde, foram submetidos à espirometria e responderam ao questionário Medida de Independência Funcional. Resultados: Os pacientes foram divididos em grupos segundo sua classificação de independência funcional e espirometria. O estudo incluiu 197 pacientes, que foram divididos entre os grupos maior dependência (n = 4), menor dependência (n = 12) e independente (n = 181). Na comparação dos três grupos com relação à classificação pela Medida de Independência Funcional, pacientes com maior dependência tinham escores Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II e Sequential Organ Failure Assessment mais altos quando da admissão à unidade de terapia intensiva, idade mais avançada, mais dias sob ventilação mecânica e tempo mais longo de permanência na unidade de terapia intensiva e no hospital. A maioria dos pacientes apresentava comprometimento pulmonar, sendo o padrão obstrutivo o mais frequentemente observado. Na comparação da independência funcional com a função pulmonar, observou-se que, quanto pior a condição funcional, pior a função pulmonar, observando-se diferenças significantes em relação ao pico de fluxo expiratório (p = 0,030). Conclusão: Em sua maioria, os pacientes que retornaram ao ambulatório 3 meses após a alta tinham boa condição funcional, porém apresentavam comprometimento pulmonar relacionado com o grau de dependência funcional.

ABSTRACT Objective: To relate functional independence to the degree of pulmonary impairment in adult patients 3 months after discharge from the intensive care unit. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study conducted in one adult intensive care unit and a multi-professional post-intensive care unit outpatient clinic of a single center. Patients admitted to the intensive care unit from January 2012 to December 2013 who underwent (3 months later) spirometry and answered the Functional Independence Measure Questionnaire were included. Results: Patients were divided into groups according to the classification of functional independence and spirometry. The study included 197 patients who were divided into greater dependence (n = 4), lower dependence (n = 12) and independent (n = 181) groups. Comparing the three groups, regarding the classification of the Functional Independence Measure, patients with greater dependence had higher Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment values at intensive care unit admission with more advanced age, more days on mechanical ventilation, and longer stay in the intensive care unit and hospital. The majority of patients presented with pulmonary impairment, which was the obstructive pattern observed most frequently. When comparing functional independence with pulmonary function, it was observed that the lower the functional status, the worse the pulmonary function, with a significant difference being observed in peak expiratory flow (p = 0.030). Conclusion: The majority of patients who returned to the outpatient clinic 3 months after discharge had good functional status but did present with pulmonary impairment, which is related to the degree of functional dependence.

RESUMO Objetivo Analisar a percepção da incapacidade auditiva, a audição e a cognição em idosos encaminhados para avaliação audiológica e verificar a existência de correlação entre a audição e as habilidades cognitivas. Método Estudo observacional e descritivo, realizado com 135 idosos. Os participantes realizaram a avaliação auditiva (Audiometria Tonal Limiar, Logoaudiometria, Imitanciometria) responderam a um inventário que avalia a percepção da incapacidade auditiva (questionário HHIE - Hearing Handicap Inventory for the Elderly) e foram submetidos a um rastreio cognitivo (teste Mini Exame do Estado Mental - MEEM). Resultados Houve elevada prevalência de queixa auditiva e perda da audição nos idosos encaminhados para avaliação auditiva, mas não houve relação do grau da perda auditiva e da percepção da incapacidade auditiva em relação ao desempenho cognitivo. Conclusão Neste estudo, o grau da perda auditiva não influenciou o desempenho cognitivo dos idosos, e a percepção da incapacidade auditiva não diferiu entre indivíduos com cognição normal ou alterada.

ABSTRACT Purpose To analyze auditory perception, hearing and cognition in the elderly referred for audiological evaluation and search for correlations between hearing and cognitive abilities. Method An observational and descriptive study, carried out with 135 elderly people. The participants did the auditory (tonal audiometry, speech audiometry, immittance measures, HHIE Questionnaire - Hearing Handicap Inventory for the Elderly) and the cognitive (MMSE - Mini Mental State Examination) assessments. Results There is a high prevalence of hearing complaints (91.85%) and hearing loss (91.85%) in the elderly referred for audiological assessment, but there was no relation between the degree of hearing loss (p = 0.537) and the auditory perception (p = 0.930) in relation to cognitive performance. Conclusion In this study, the degree of hearing loss did not influence the cognitive performance of the elderly, and the auditory handicap perception did not differ between individuals with normal or altered cognition.

Abstract Human activities on the Earth's surface change the landscape of natural ecosystems. Mining practices are one of the most severe human activities, drastically altering the chemical, physical and biological properties of the soil environment. Bacterial communities in soil play an important role in the maintenance of ecological relationships. This work shows bacterial diversity, metabolic repertoire and physiological behavior in five ecosystems samples with different levels of impact. These ecosystems belong to a historical area in Iron Quadrangle, Minas Gerais, Brazil, which suffered mining activities until its total depletion without recovery since today. The results revealed Proteobacteria as the most predominant phylum followed by Acidobacteria, Verrucomicrobia, Planctomycetes, and Bacteroidetes. Soils that have not undergone anthropological actions exhibit an increase ability to degrade carbon sources. The richest soil with the high diversity was found in ecosystems that have suffered anthropogenic action. Our study shows profile of diversity inferring metabolic profile, which may elucidate the mechanisms underlying changes in community structure in situ mining sites in Brazil. Our data comes from contributing to know the bacterial diversity, relationship between these bacteria and can explore strategies for natural bioremediation in mining areas or adjacent areas under regeneration process in iron mining areas.

OBJETIVOS: A partir da década de 1990, em face de um cenário de limitações de recursos do Estado para financiamento de serviços essenciais à população, novas formas de administração pública começam a ser implementadas. Uma das principais formas adotadas refere-se à delegação da administração de hospitais públicos do estado de São Paulo às Organizações Sociais de Saúde (OSS). O artigo propõe um formato de avaliação da gestão das políticas públicas de saúde via OSS no município de São Paulo, a partir do caso do Hospital Geral do Grajaú. PROCEDIMENTOS METODOLÓGICOS: A avaliação concentrou-se em variáveis sócio-econômicas e demográficas da população local e sua articulação com variáveis estruturais da rede básica de saúde disponíveis; além de dados sobre infra-estrutura da instituição selecionada e relatórios da organização social de saúde no período entre 2004 e 2007. RESULTADOS: A região apresenta déficit de unidades básicas de saúde, que gera sobrecarga de atendimentos de baixa complexidade no hospital. Os resultados da avaliação comparativa entre oferta e demanda por serviços públicos de saúde, a partir do perfil populacional da região e características de atendimentos realizados pela organização social, indicam que a unidade buscou adaptar-se às necessidades prioritárias da região. No entanto, verificou-se, também, que a implantação de um único hospital em uma região de alta vulnerabilidade social é insuficiente para suprir as necessidades da população, sendo necessária uma rede de unidades básicas de saúde para auxiliar na realização de atendimentos de baixa complexidade, permitindo focalização do atendimento hospitalar sobre atendimentos de média e alta complexidade.

OBJECTIVES: Since the 1990s, in light of a scenario of limited government resources to finance essential public services to address population needs, new public administration models have been implemented. One of the main models was the delegation of public hospitals management to Organizações Sociais de Saúde (OSS - Social Organizations of Health) in the state of São Paulo. The paper proposes a structure for the evaluation of public health policy management through OSS in the city of São Paulo, starting from the case of Grajaú General Hospital. METHODS: Evaluation was centered on socio-economic and demographic variables from local population and their articulation with structural variables available from the primary healthcare network, as well as infrastructure data from the selected hospital and reports from the OSS during the period from 2004 to 2007. RESULTS: The region presents a significant deficit in primary healthcare units, which results in overload of low complexity health services demand in the hospital. Results from the comparative evaluation between public health services' supply and demand in the region, crossing information on population profile and health services provided by the OSS, indicate that the hospital adapted its structure to meet the population's essential needs. Nevertheless, it was also verified that implementing one single hospital in a high social vulnerability region is insufficient to satisfy all the population's demands; thus, it is necessary to create a network of primary healthcare units to support hospital actions in public health, especially to assume low complexity health services, so that the hospital can focus on middle and high complexity health services.

Com o objetivo de analisar as experiências afetivas relativas ao amor e ao sofrimento psíquico entre jovens de 18 a 30 anos e adultos entre 31 e 70 anos, com e sem experiência de vida conjugal compartilhada, realizamos a presente pesquisa com uma população de cem sujeitos residentes na cidade do Recife, PE. Utilizamos o multimétodo (qualitativo e quantitativo) e através da Análise Fatorial de Correspondência interpretamos os dados; com relação aos dados qualitativos, foram realizadas análises de acordo com as categorias constituídas. Os resultados, confirmando as hipóteses, revelaram uma diferenciação quanto ao conteúdo representacional conforme as variáveis: grupo etário, inserção social e compartilhamento ou não de vida em comum. A estrutura da representação é similar em todos os grupos. Concluímos que existe uma representação conservadora e metafísica do amor para todos os grupos, destituída de significações ou conotações associadas ao romantismo, sendo que o sofrimento, embora representado por todos os sujeitos como uma experiência de dor e de perda, revela-se diferenciado e determinado pelas variáveis (idade, vida conjugal etc.) dos sujeitos.

The present research was undertaken in order to analyze young adults and adults' love and suffering experiences. The participants of this paper were 100 people who live in Recife, PE, without conjugal experience distinction. They were considered young adults when their ages were from 18 to 31 years old, and adults for those whose age was from 31 to 70. The multi-method (qualitative and quantitative) was used, and the data were understood through the Factorial Correspondence Analysis. The qualitative data were analyzed according to the various categories that made up the study. The results, which confirmed the hypothesis, have revealed a representational content differentiation in regards to the variables: age, social position, whether or not there was a conjugal relationship. The structure of the representation was similar in all groups. We conclude there is a conservative and metaphysical representation of love in all groups, devoid of romanticism meanings and connotations. Suffering, although represented by all subjects as an experience of pain and loss, was shown subordinated by the subjects' variables (age, conjugal living, etc.).
