ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the influence of emotional appeals on behavioral intention regarding organic products for personal care. Theoretical framework: this article uses the literature of emotional appeals, specifically the appeals of guilt, fear, authentic pride, and hubristic pride, to identify their effects on consumers’ behavioral intention in the context of organic personal care products. Emotional appeals of guilt, fear, authentic pride, and hubristic pride were examined. Methodology: four sequential experiments were conducted in real advertisement settings using a within-subjects and between-subjects experimental design. Data were analyzed using ANOVA. Results: the appeal of authentic pride was associated with a heightened value of joy and increased likelihood of consumer donation. The appeal of hubristic pride stimulated an effect of authentic pride. This way, the findings indicate that pride is a one-dimensional emotion in the national context of organic cosmetics consumers. Additionally, the appeal of one-dimensional pride aroused a more positive attitude and purchase intention regarding the advertised product compared to the emotions guilt, fear, and joy. Conclusion: these findings reposition the discussion on pride from a one-dimensional perspective because authentic pride stimulates joy. Further, positive appeals were more effective than negative appeals at increasing the consumers’ behavioral intention toward organic cosmetics. Contrary to the findings of previous surveys, pride was associated with more positive consumer attitudes toward the advertised product. Therefore, the use of pride appeal should be encouraged to promote consumer awareness.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar a influência de apelos emocionais na intenção comportamental com relação a produtos orgânicos para cuidados pessoais. Marco teórico: utilizou-se a literatura dos apelos emocionais, em específico os apelos de culpa, medo, orgulho autêntico e orgulho hubrístico, para identificar seus efeitos na intenção comportamental no contexto dos produtos orgânicos para cuidados pessoais. Desta forma, utilizaram-se os apelos de culpa, medo, orgulho autêntico e orgulho hubrístico. Metodologia: quatro experimentos sequenciais em configurações de anúncios reais, com desenho experimental (within-subjects e between-subjects), foram realizados. Os dados foram analisados mediante ANOVA. Resultados: o apelo de orgulho autêntico estimulou maior valor de alegria, além de aumentar a probabilidade de os consumidores doarem, enquanto o apelo de orgulho hubrístico estimulou maior efeito de orgulho autêntico. Desta forma, foi evidenciado que o orgulho é uma emoção unidimensional no contexto nacional do consumidor de cosméticos orgânicos. Em seguida, descobriu-se que o apelo de orgulho unidimensional despertou uma maior atitude favorável e intenção de compra do produto anunciado em comparação às emoções culpa, medo e alegria. Conclusão: os achados reposicionam a discussão sobre o orgulho sob uma perspectiva unidimensional, pois o orgulho autêntico estimulou alegria. Ademais, os apelos positivos são mais eficazes para aumentar a intenção comportamental de cosméticos orgânicos. Em divergência com pesquisas anteriores, o orgulho provoca maiores atitudes favoráveis em relação ao produto anunciado. Portanto, para a conscientização do consumidor deve-se incentivar o uso de apelo de orgulho.

Resumo As condições de cultivo são fatores determinantes que afetam a qualidade das flores de corte. Diante disso, objetivou-se, neste estudo, avaliar o crescimento vegetativo, floração e vida de vaso de variedades de gladíolos comerciais no semiárido brasileiro, sob diferentes condições de sombreamento. Duas variedades de gladíolos (Jester e Rose Friendship) foram cultivadas em duas condições: sol pleno e 70% de sombreamento. Avaliou-se a biometria em 60 dias após o plantio e a taxa de crescimento da cultura aos 15-30, 30-45 e 45-60 dias para as variáveis: número de perfilhos, diâmetro do colo, número de folhas e altura da planta. Após 45 dias, avaliou-se a massa fresca, massa seca e conteúdo relativo de água total da parte área e da parte radicular das plantas. Após a colheita, as hastes foram mantidas em temperatura de 22±3 °C e umidade relativa (UR) de 60%. A cada dois dias, realizou-se avaliação visual, além de avaliação do pH da solução, variação no volume de água e perda de massa fresca. O cultivo com 70% de sombreamento resultou em maior acúmulo de biomassa na parte aérea das plantas de gladíolos, maior diâmetro do colo e altura. A variedade Rose Friendship resultou em maior translocação de massa seca para a parte aérea das plantas. Isso resultou em maior altura. Por outro lado, as hastes de gladíolos provenientes do cultivo nas condições de pleno sol resultaram em maior vida de vaso: 10 dias em condições de conservação a 22±3 °C e UR 60%.

Abstract Cultivation conditions are determining factors that affect the quality of cut flowers. The objective of this study was to evaluate the vegetative growth, flowering and vase life of commercial gladiolus cultivars under different shading conditions in the Brazilian semi-arid region. Two cultivars of gladiolus (Jester and Rose Friendship) were grown under two conditions: full sun and 70% shade. Biometrics were evaluated 60 days after planting and the growth rate of the crop was evaluated at 15-30, 30-45 and 45-60 days for the variables: number of tillers, stem diameter, number of leaves and plant height. After 45 days, the fresh weight, dry weight and total relative water content of the area and root parts of the plants were evaluated. After the harvest, the stems were kept at a temperature of 22±3 °C and relative humidity (RH) of 60%. Visual assessment, pH of the solution, variation in the volume of water and loss of fresh mass were measured every two days. Cultivation with 70% shading resulted in greater accumulation of biomass in the aerial part of gladiolus plants, greater neck diameter and height. The Rose Friendship cultivar underwent a greater translocation of dry matter to the aerial part of the plants, resulting in greater height. On the other hand, the gladiolus stems from cultivation under full sun conditions resulted in longer vase life, 10 days under conservation conditions at 22±3 °C and RH 60%.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to analyze the compliance with the assistance protocol and factors associated with the judicialization of coagulation factors in severe hemophilia patients. METHODS: A retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted from June 2015 to May 2016 in adults with severe hemophilia in the Federal District, Brazil using data from their medical records and the Hemovida Web Coagulopathies System. RESULTS: One-hundred and three patients from Federal District, the capital of Brazil, were included in the study. The mean age of the patients was 34.6±10.1. Ninety-three received prophylactic treatment (90.3%) and 53 received recombinant coagulation factors (51.7%). Judicialization occurred in 21 cases (20.4%), 13 of whom disagreed with the assistance protocol (12.6%). In the univariate analysis, an association was observed between reduced judicialization and treatment (4.8 vs. 47.6%; p<0.001) in the hemophilia treatment center and an increase that was associated with use of the recombinant coagulation factor in disagreement with the protocol (38.1 vs. 6.1%; p<0.001). In the multivariate analysis, the odds ratio for judicialization was 0.081 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.010–0.055) for treatment at the hemophilia treatment center and 5.067 (95%CI 1.392–18.446) for the use of recombinant coagulation factor not in compliance with the protocol. More inhibitor development in judicialized patients (33.3 vs. 4.9%; p<0.001) was found. CONCLUSIONS: The effectiveness of judicialization should be questioned, especially regarding coagulation factor prescriptions that are not in compliance with the protocol. The expense resulting from judicialization has not shown any benefit, and an even greater development of inhibitors during treatment in judicialized patients was found.

ABSTRACT The objective of microfinance is to provide services to create economic support for borrowers, so they can improve their social condition through entrepreneurial activity. Notwithstanding, credit alone is not sufficient to raise an individual out of poverty. In addition to credit, microfinance institutions can assist by providing professional and management courses, consultancies, financial assistance, and by the formation of solidarity groups. To suggest a way to achieve the microfinance goal, the aim of this article is to propose a cryptocurrency model and an artifact that can contribute to the microfinance environment. This will be supported by a cryptocurrency model and platform based on the design science research methodology. This essay shows that three agents can benefit from the cryptocurrency model: borrowers, microfinance institutions, and educational institutions. Furthermore, the results show that a new market can develop from this model with a viable platform to support the relationship between these agents.

RESUMO Entender o mercado brasileiro de madeira nativa auxilia os gestores florestais e pode orientar as políticas de conservação. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a distribuição espacial e temporal da oferta e demanda da madeira nativa brasileira para quatro produtos: carvão vegetal, madeira em tora, lenha e madeira serrada. Foi utilizado o volume de madeira consumido de 2006 a 2016 em Minas Gerais (MG) totalizando 31 milhões de metros cúbicos e obtido seu fornecedor no Brasil. Esses dados foram usados como entrada para calcular os centros médios e realizar análises de agrupamento. Os centros de abastecimento de madeira para o setor de energia no Brasil passaram do bioma Cerrado para a Caatinga. Essa mudança é consistente com os padrões históricos de expansão agrícola no Brasil. As maiores mesorregiões produtoras de madeira foram: Leste de Mato Grosso do Sul, Sul de Goiás e Centro-Sul da Bahia. Os centros de abastecimento de madeira sólida mudaram-se das regiões Norte para Centro-Oeste, mas permaneceram no bioma Amazônia por quase todos os anos. Esse padrão é provavelmente uma consequência das práticas de regulamentação da madeira na Amazônia. As mesorregiões: Madeira-Guaporé e Leste do Estado de Rondônia, Sudeste e Nordeste do Pará e Norte do Mato Grosso foram os principais fornecedores de madeira maciça para MG. O consumo de madeira para energia está concentrado nas regiões Centro e Norte do Estado de MG, principalmente em Sete Lagoas, polo das indústrias de ferro-gusa e cimento. Os produtos de madeira maciça estão dispersos no Estado de MG, sendo Belo Horizonte, Conselheiro Lafaiete, Ubá e Uberlândia os centros de distribuição de madeira nativa para indústria moveleira de MG. As estatísticas espaciais ajudaram a explorar a atividade do mercado de madeira nativa no Brasil e fornecem informações essenciais para os tomadores de decisão que não estavam disponíveis anteriormente.

ABSTRACT Understanding the Brazilian market for native wood helps forest managers and can guide conservation policies. This study aimed to evaluate the spatial and temporal distribution of supply and demand of the Brazilian native wood for four products namely, charcoal, roundwood, firewood, and sawn wood. We used the consumed wood volume from 2006 to 2016 in Minas Gerais (MG) tracking its supplier in Brazil accounting for 31 million cubic meters. These data were used as input for calculating mean centers and performing grouping analysis. The wood supply centers for the energy sector in Brazil have moved from Cerrado to the Caatinga biome. This change is consistent with historical patterns of agricultural expansion in Brazil. The largest mesoregions producing wood were: East of Mato Grosso do Sul State, South of Goiás State, and Center-South of Bahia State. The solid wood supply centers have moved from the North to Midwest regions but remained within the Amazon biome for almost all the years. This pattern is likely a consequence of timber regulation practices in the Amazon. The mesoregions: Madeira-Guaporé and East of Rondônia State, Southeast and Northeast of Pará State, and North of Mato Grosso State were the most important suppliers of solid wood to MG. Wood consumption for energy is centered in the Center and North regions of MG State, especially in Sete Lagoas, a hub of pig iron and cement industries. Solid wood products are dispersed in MG State, being Belo Horizonte, Conselheiro Lafaiete, Ubá, and Uberlândia the distribution centers of native wood for the furniture industry within MG. The spatial statistics helped to exploit the activity of the native wood market in Brazil and provides essential information for decision-makers that was not previously available.

RESUMO O carcinoma hepatocelular (CHC) é uma das principais causas de mortalidade relacionada a câncer no Brasil e no mundo. A Sociedade Brasileira de Hepatologia (SBH) publicou em 2015 suas primeiras recomendações sobre a abordagem do CHC. Desde então, novas evidências sobre o diagnóstico e tratamento do CHC foram relatadas na literatura médica, levando a diretoria da SBH a promover uma reunião monotemática sobre câncer primário de fígado em agosto de 2018 com o intuito de atualizar as recomendações sobre o manejo da neoplasia. Um grupo de experts foi convidado para realizar uma revisão sistemática da literatura e apresentar uma atualização baseada em evidências científicas visando que pudesse nortear a prática clínica multidisciplinar do CHC. O texto resultante foi submetido a avaliação e aprovação de todos membros da SBH através de sua homepage. O documento atual é a versão final que contêm as recomendações atualizadas e revisadas da SBH.

ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide. The Brazilian Society of Hepatology (SBH) published in 2015 its first recommendations about the management of HCC. Since then, new data have emerged in the literature, prompting the governing board of SBH to sponsor a single-topic meeting in August 2018 in São Paulo. All the invited experts were asked to make a systematic review of the literature reviewing the management of HCC in subjects with cirrhosis. After the meeting, all panelists gathered together for the discussion of the topics and the elaboration of updated recommendations. The text was subsequently submitted for suggestions and approval of all members of the Brazilian Society of Hepatology through its homepage. The present manuscript is the final version of the reviewed manuscript containing the recommendations of SBH.

Resumo Introdução Procedimentos de raspagem na superfície radicular aumentam a rugosidade superficial durante a instrumentação. O uso de pasta profilática pode reduzir a rugosidade. Objetivo Este estudo avaliou a influência da profilaxia com pasta na rugosidade superficial da dentina radicular após instrumentação manual (IH), ultrassom (US) e instrumentos rotatórios (IR) aplicados em superfícies radiculares. Material e método Cinquenta raízes bovinas foram preparadas e divididas aleatoriamente em 10 grupos (n = 5) nos quais a instrumentação com HI, US ou RI foi realizada com ou sem profilaxia usando pasta convencional ou hidroxiapatita a 3%; adicionalmente, um grupo controle sem tratamento foi incluído. As rugosidades de Ra e Rz foram medidas por um perfilômetro. Os aspectos morfológicos das superfícies radiculares foram analisados qualitativamente por microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV). Os dados foram analisados por meio de ANOVA de dois fatores, seguido pelo teste de Tukey (α = 0,05). Resultado O método de raspagem e o procedimento de profilaxia influenciaram significativamente (p <0,05) a rugosidade da superfície radicular. O tratamento com US e a profilaxia com pasta de hidroxiapatita ao 3% resultaram em menores valores de Ra (0,14 μm ± 0,02 μm) e Rz (0,89 μm ± 0,18 μm) em relação aos demais grupos. A análise por MEV mostrou superfícies mais lisas e mais homogêneas nos grupos com profilaxia em comparação aos grupos sem profilaxia. Não houve diferenças substanciais entre os resultados da aplicação das diferentes pastas. Conclusão O procedimento de profilaxia realizado com a pasta experimental contendo 3% de hidroxiapatita reduziu a rugosidade das superfícies radiculares tratadas com HI, US e RI no mesmo nível da pasta profilática convencional.

Abstract Introduction Root-scaling procedures on the root surface show to increase root surface roughness during instrumentation. The use of a prophylactic paste reduces the roughness. Objetive This study evaluated the influence of prophylaxis paste on the surface roughness of root dentin after hand instruments (HI), ultrasonic scalers (US) and rotational instruments (RI) were applied to root surfaces. Material and method Fifty bovine roots were prepared and randomly divided into 10 groups (n=5) in which instrumentation with HI, US, or RI was carried out with or without prophylaxis using either conventional or 3% hydroxyapatite paste; additionally, a control group without treatment was included. The Ra and Rz roughness values were measured using a perfilometer. The morphological aspects of the root surfaces were analysed qualitatively by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Data were analysed using two-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s test (α = 0.05). Result The scaling method and the prophylaxis procedure significantly influenced (p < 0.05) root surface roughness. Treatment with US and prophylaxis with 3% hydroxyapatite paste resulted in lower values of Ra (0.14 μm ± 0.02 μm) and Rz (0.89 μm ± 0.18 μm) compared to the other groups. SEM analysis showed smoother and more homogeneous surfaces in the groups with prophylaxis compared to the groups without prophylaxis. There were no substantial differences between the results of applying different pastes. Conclusion The prophylaxis procedure performed with the experimental paste containing 3% hydroxyapatite reduced the roughness of root surfaces treated with HI, US and RI at the same level as the conventional prophylactic paste.

Resumo O mercado de games é um dos mais rentáveis no quesito lazer, ultrapassando o mercado cinematográfico, e figura como o 11° do mundo e o 1° da América Latina em rentabilidade para as empresas. A despeito desta importância, poucas informações são conhecidas sobre quais as razões que motivam as pessoas a jogar. Este artigo teve como objetivo analisar quais características dos jogos influenciam os consumidores de games a jogar e a pagar. Como metodologia, uma pesquisa de campo foi conduzida com cerca de 600 usuários, e a modelagem de equações estruturais foi utilizada para testar o modelo. Entre os resultados, mostra-se que os construtos desafio, desvio, diversão, fantasia e interação social têm influência na intenção de jogar e pagar, enquanto o construto competição influencia negativamente a intenção de jogar. Não foram obtidas causalidades significantes dos construtos flexibilidade de tempo e excitação, no construto intenção de jogar. Ademais, foi observado que as motivações que obtiveram maior impacto são a diversão, o desafio e a fantasia, características que devem ser observadas por desenvolvedores e indústrias do setor.

Abstract The electronic games market is one of the most profitable in the leisure segment, having surpassed the film industry. In terms of profitability, it is ranked as eleventh in the world and first in Latin America. Despite its relevance, there is little information about the reasons that lead consumers to play. This paper examined which attributes of the games influence consumers to play and pay for them. The methodology was a field research survey conducted with 600 electronic games' players, and structural equation modeling was used to test the model. The results indicate that the constructs challenge, diversion, fun, fantasy and social interaction influence the intention to play and pay for games, while the construct competition has a negative effect on the intention to play. No significant causalities were found, regarding the constructs time flexibility and arousal, on the intention to play. Furthermore, we also observed that motivations that had the highest impact were fun, challenge and fantasy, attributes that should be considered by game developers and industry.

Resumen El mercado de videojuegos es uno de los más rentables en el ámbito del ocio, superando el mercado del cine, y figura como el 11° del mundo y el 1° de América Latina en lo que se refiere a la rentabilidad de las empresas. A pesar de esta importancia, hay escasa información sobre las razones que motivan a las personas a jugar. El objetivo en este trabajo es analizar cuáles características de los juegos influyen en el consumidor y lo llevan a jugar y pagar. Se ha llevado a cabo un estudio de campo con aproximadamente 600 usuarios y se ha utilizado como metodología los modelos de ecuaciones estructurales. Los resultados muestran que los constructos desafío, desvío, diversión, fantasía e interacción social influyen en la intención de jugar y pagar, mientras que el constructo competición tiene influencia negativa en la intención de jugar. No se han obtenido causalidades significativas de los constructos flexibilidad del tiempo y excitación en el constructo intención de jugar. Además, se ha observado que las motivaciones que tienen mayor impacto son la diversión, el desafío y la fantasía, características que deben ser observadas por los desarrolladores de juegos y la industria del sector.

Considering quantitative and qualitative methods as approaches that have the potential to complement each other, this study aims at understanding the consumers of alternative market. One of the findings of the research is that the option for fun generates an important agregated value that affects place-of-purchase decision. Small-scale commerce, personalized attention and bond with customers are features originated from the reality observed in fairs, which may be a relevant reference for business planning in those emerging sectors.

Mediante la complementación entre una mirada cuantitativa y el rescate de los significados cualitativos, este trabajo pretende contribuir al conocimiento del consumidor de mercados alternativos. Un hallazgo importante es que la diversión crea un valor agregado importante en el momento de decidir el lugar donde se harán las compras. El comercio a pequeña escala, la atención personalizada y el cultivo del vínculo con el cliente son una enseñanza que se deriva de la observación de la realidad de las ferias y que puede ser un referente importante para la planeación de negocios con estos sectores emergentes.

Por complementação entre um olhar quantitativo e o resgate dos significados qualitativos, este trabalho visa contribuir para a o conhecimento do consumidor de mercados alternativos. Um achado importante é que a diversão cria um valor acrescentado significativo para decidir onde as compras são feitas. O comercio em pequena escala, atenção pessoal e crescente relacionamento com o cliente é uma lição a ser aprendida a partir da observação da realidade das feiras e pode constituir um referente importante para o planejamento de negócios com estes sectores emergentes.

Neurofibromatoses (NF) constituem um grupo de doenças genéticas com predisposição ao crescimento de múltiplos tumores: tipo 1 (NF1), tipo 2 (NF2) e schwannomatose (SCH). Estas doenças têm em comum a origem neural dos tumores e os sinais cutâneos. Afetam cerca de 80 mil brasileiros. O maior conhecimento científico sobre as NF tem permitido melhor manejo clínico, redução da morbidade das complicações e melhor qualidade de vida. Na maioria dos casos, os especialistas em neurologia, dermatologia, genética clínica, oncologia e medicina interna estão capacitados a realizar o diagnóstico diferencial e identificar suas principais complicações. Devido à sua variabilidade fenotípica, curso progressivo, multiplicidade de órgãos acometidos e evolução imprevisível, as NF frequentemente necessitam de especialistas em NF para o acompanhamento. A Parte 1 deste texto oferece orientações para o diagnóstico de cada tipo de NF e discute os diagnósticos diferenciais com outras doenças. A Parte 2 oferecerá orientações em relação ao manejo clínico das NF.

Neurofibromatoses (NF) are a group of genetic multiple tumor growing predisposition diseases: neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) and schwannomatosis (SCH), which have in common the neural origin of tumors and cutaneous signs. They affect nearly 80 thousand of Brazilians. In recent years, the increased scientific knowledge on NF has allowed better clinical management and reduced complication morbidity, resulting in higher quality of life for NF patients. In most cases, neurology, psychiatry, dermatology, clinical geneticists, oncology and internal medicine specialists are able to make the differential diagnosis between NF and other diseases and to identify major NF complications. Nevertheless, due to its great variability in phenotype expression, progressive course, multiple organs involvement and unpredictable natural evolution, NF often requires the support of neurofibromatoses specialists for proper treatment and genetic counseling. This Part 1 offers step-by-step guidelines for NF differential diagnosis. Part 2 will present the NF clinical management.

Objetivou-se avaliar a utilização de suplemento mineral e suplemento mineral proteico na terminação de novilhos Nelore em pastejo de Brachiaria brizantha, no período das águas, e suas implicações sobre o consumo de forragem, o desempenho animal e a digestibilidade aparente dos nutrientes. A parte de campo foi implantada numa área de 26 ha, dividida em quatro piquetes de aproximadamente 6,5 hectares (ha), formados de Brachiaria brizantha cultivar Marandu. Foram utilizados 18 novilhos Nelore, com 28 meses, peso vivo de 400,5 ± 7,5kg e castrados, distribuídos em dois tratamentos: suplementação mineral até a terminação e suplementação mineral proteica de baixo consumo até a terminação. Não houve efeito sobre o consumo de pastagem, da fibra em detergente neutro, proteína bruta, extrato etéreo, carboidratos não fibrosos, cinzas e nutrientes digestíveis totais. O desempenho animal e a conversão alimentar não sofreram efeito da suplementação. Não houve efeito sobre o coeficiente da digestibilidade da matéria seca, matéria orgânica, proteína bruta, extrato etéreo e da fibra em detergente neutro. Houve efeito da suplementação com sal proteinado sobre a digestibilidade dos carboidratos não fibrosos. É desnecessário a suplementação com sal proteinado na época das aguas.

This study aimed to evaluate the use of mineral and mineral supplement protein in finishing Nellore grazing Brachiaria brizantha during the rainy season and its implications for forage intake, animal performance and nutrient digestibility. The fieldwork was located in an area of 26 ha, divided into four paddocks of approximately 6.5 hectares (ha), formed Brachiaria brizantha Marandu. We used 18 Nellore with 28 months live weight of 400.5 ± 7.5kg and castrated in two treatments: mineral supplementation until the termination and mineral supplementation of low protein intake to termination. There was no effect on the consumption of pasture, neutral detergent fiber, crude protein, fat, non-fiber carbohydrates, ash and total digestible nutrients. The animal performance and feed conversion were not affected by supplementation. There was no effect on the coefficient of digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, ether extract and neutral detergent fiber. There was an effect of supplementation on the digestibility of non-fiber carbohydrates. In the rainy season the utilization of mineral salt allows the of animals in pastures. It is unnecessary supplementation with protein salt at the time of the waters.
