ABSTRACT High-intensity interval training (HIIT) can induce oxidative stress. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 15 sessions of a HIIT protocol in Wistar rats on oxidative damage markers in different tissues (blood, muscle, liver and heart). Thus, animals weighing 250-300 g were used and randomly divided into 2 groups (n= 10): Control (CG) and animals submitted to HIIT (TG) through a swimming protocol. The results showed that HIIT increased the production of malondialdehyde (MDA) in TG animals: serum (306.75%), gastrocnemius muscle (259.2%), liver (452.6%) and heart (215%), while the concentration of sulfhydryl groups decreased: serum (40%), gastrocnemius muscle (44.7%), liver (44.6%) and heart (47.2%). Thus, it could be concluded that 15 HIIT sessions altered the redox state of Wistar rats due to increased oxidative damage markers in the analysed tissues.

ABSTRACT The aim of this experimental study was to evaluate acute responses to oxidative stress (OS) after a single session of two HIIT protocols. 24 Wistar rats were divided into three groups (n= 8): sedentary control (SC), HIIT with a 7-minute volume (LW) and HIIT with 14-min (HW). After the protocol, blood was collected for the measurement of uric acid (UA), and the liver and the gastrocnemius muscle were collected for OS assessment by measuring malondialdehyde (MDA) and total antioxidant capacity (FRAP). The LW and HW groups showed a reduction in hepatic MDA (51.9 and 29.9%; p< 0.05) compared to SC. However, the muscle of the HW group increased the MDA (12.6%; p< 0.05) compared to SC. As for FRAP, LW and HW reduced values (78.3 and 75.3%; p< 0.05) compared to SC, respectively. UA in the LW group was higher when compared to SC (64.7%; p< 0.05), HW group was similar to SC (p> 0.05). Among the different HIIT protocols, the LW group showed an increase in UA compared to the HW group (44%; p< 0.05). Compared to SC, the LW and HW groups did not promote acute OS in the liver tissue. However, HW caused OS in muscle tissue after a single exercise session.

RESUMO Introdução: A relação entre treino e competição é muito importante e visa a preparação mais específica e adequada no Jiu-Jitsu. Problema e objetivo: Avaliar a relação entre treinamento e competição por meio de indicadores de lesão e força muscular. Métodos: A amostra do estudo incluiu nove indivíduos (22,54 ± 2,77 anos) que foram submetidos às seguintes condições: 1) simulação de treinamento e 2) simulação de competição. Resultados: Não houve diferenças significativas no teste Counter Movement Jump (CMJ). Porém, 48 horas depois do treinamento, houve indicação de valores superiores aos de pós-competição. A creatina quinase (CK) apresentou diferenças significativas de lesão muscular depois da competição com relação às demais condições e momentos (p <0,01), com alto efeito. A LDH apresentou diferenças nos momentos antes, durante e depois das condições de competição e treinamento (p < 0,05), com alto efeito. A potência dos membros superiores (PUL) teve correlação média 24 horas (> 0,55) e 48 horas (0,47) depois da intervenção. Houve alta correlação (> 0,70)com todas as condições no squat jump (SJ). A LDH teve alta correlação (> 0,70) em 48 horas. Conclusões: Houve boa correlação entre o treinamento e a simulação de competição, o que indica que o modelo de treinamento usado no estudo tende a preparar adequadamente os atletas de Jiu-Jitsu para as demandas da competição. Nível de evidência I; Estudo clínico randomizado de alta qualidade com ou sem diferença estatisticamente significante, mas com intervalos de confiança estreitos.

ABSTRACT Background: The relationship between training and competition is very important and aims at a more specific and adequate preparation in Jiu-Jitsu. Problem and objective: To evaluate the relationship between training and competition through indications of injury and muscle strength. Methods: The study sample included nine subjects (22.54 ± 2.77 years of age) who were submitted to the following two conditions: 1) training simulation and 2) competition simulation. Results: There were no significant differences in the countermovement jump (CMJ) test. However, 48 hours after training there was an indication of values higher than the post-competition ones. Creatine kinase (CK) indicated significant differences in muscle damage after competition in relation to the other conditions and moments (p <0.01) with a high effect. Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) showed differences in the moments before, during, and after both competition and training conditions (p <0.05) with a high effect. The power of the upper limbs (PUL) showed a medium correlation at 24h (> 0.55) and 48h (0.47) after the intervention. There was high correlation (> 0.70) for all conditions in the squat jump (SJ). LDH showed a high correlation (> 0.70) at 48 hours. Conclusion: There was a good correlation between training and competition simulation, which tends to indicate that the training model used in the study properly prepare Jiu-Jitsu athletes for the demands of competition. Level of evidence I; High-quality randomized clinical trial with or without a statistically significant difference, but with narrow confidence intervals.

RESUMEN Introducción: La relación entre entrenamiento y competición es muy importante y apunta a una preparación más específica y adecuada en el Jiu-Jitsu. Problema y objetivo: Evaluar la relación entre entrenamiento y competición a través de indicadores de lesión y fuerza muscular. Métodos: La muestra del estudio incluyó a nueve individuos (22,54 ± 2,77 años) que fueron sometidos a las siguientes condiciones: 1) simulación de entrenamiento y 2) simulación de competición. Resultados: No hubo diferencias significativas en la prueba de Counter Movement Jump (CMJ). Sin embargo, hubo indicios, 48 horas después del entrenamiento, de valores superiores a los de post-competición. La creatina quinasa (CK) presentó diferencias significativas de lesión muscular tras la competición en relación con las demás condiciones y momentos (p <0,01), con un efecto elevado. La LDH presentó diferencias en los momentos previos, durante y posteriores a las condiciones de competición y entrenamiento (p <0.05), con un efecto elevado. La potencia de las extremidades superiores (PUL) tuvo una correlación media de 24 horas (> 0,55) y 48 horas (0,47) después de la intervención. En el salto, Squat Jump (SJ), hubo una alta correlación en relación a todas las condiciones (> 0,70). La LDH presentó alta correlación (> 0,70) en 48 horas. Conclusiones: Hubo una buena correlación entre el entrenamiento y la simulación de competición, lo que indica que el modelo de entrenamiento utilizado en el estudio tiende a preparar adecuadamente a los atletas de Jiu-Jitsu para las exigencias de la competición. Nivel de evidencia I;Ensayo clínico aleatorizado de alta calidad con o sin diferencia estadísticamente significativa, pero con intervalos de confianza estrechos.

SUMMARY: High-intensity physical exercises can cause oxidative stress and muscle damage. Several medicinal plants have been used as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents. The present study evaluated high-intensity resistance exercise (HIRE) associated with Schinus Terebentifholius ethanolic extract (EE) on oxidative parameters and muscle damage in Wistar rats. Animals were divided into 04 groups (n=10/group): 1. Control (CG) - animals that did not undergo HIRE and were treated with vehicle (distilled water, orally); 2. Acute exercise (AE) - animals submitted to acute exercise session; 3. Exercise + vehicle (EV) - animals that underwent HIRE and were treated with vehicle and 4. Exercise + extract (EX) animals administered with Schinus terebenthifolius EE (100mg/Kg, orally) and submitted to the exercise session. Schinus terebenthifolius EE showed high in vitro antioxidant activity (13.88 ± 0.36 mg/mL). Before the experimental period, lactate was measured at pre and post moments of AE (p<0.0001) and EX (p<0.0001) groups. After the acute session, the following were evaluated: oxidative stress {malondialdehyde (MDA), sulfhydryl groups (SH) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP)}, muscle damage (creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST). In the in vivo analyses of the EX group compared to AE and EV groups, respectively: hepatic (MDA: p<0.0001 and SH: p=0.0033, in both; FRAP: p=0.0011 and p=0.0047), muscle (MDA, SH and FRAP: p<0.0001, in both; CK: p=0.0001 and p<0.0001; LDH: p<0.0001, in both), serum levels (MDA: p=0.0003, p=0.0012, SH: p=0.0056, p=0.0200, FRAP: p=0.0017 and p=0.0165) were significant. There was no significant difference in ALT and AST markers. It could be concluded that Schinus terebenthifolius EE associated with HIRE attenuated oxidative stress and muscle damage in rats.

RESUMEN: Los ejercicios físicos de alta intensidad pueden causar estrés oxidativo y daño muscular. Varias plantas medicinales se han utilizado como agentes antioxidantes y antiinflamatorios. El presente estudio evaluó el ejercicio de resistencia de alta intensidad (HIRE) asociado con el extracto etanólico (EE) de Schinus terebentifholius sobre los parámetros oxidativos y el daño muscular en ratas Wistar. Los animales se dividieron en 4 grupos (n=10/grupo): 1. Control (GC) - animales que no se sometieron a HIRE y fueron tratados con vehículo (agua destilada, por vía oral); 2. Ejercicio agudo (AE) - animales sometidos a sesión de ejercicio agudo; 3. Ejercicio + vehículo (EV) - animales que se sometieron a HIRE y fueron tratados con vehículo y 4. Ejercicio + extracto (EX) animales administrados con Schinus terebenthifolius EE (100 mg/kg, por vía oral) y sometidos a la sesión de ejercicio. Schinus terebenthifolius EE mostró una alta actividad antioxidante in vitro (13,88 ± 0,36 mg/mL). Antes del período experimental, se midió el lactato en los momentos pre y post de los grupos AE (p<0,0001) y EX (p<0,0001). Tras la sesión aguda, se evaluaron: el estrés oxidativo malondialdehído (MDA), grupos sulfhidrilo (SH) y poder antioxidante reductor férrico (FRAP), daño muscular (creatina quinasa (CK) y lactato deshidrogenasa (LDH)), alanina aminotransferasa (ALT) y aspartato aminotransferasa (AST). En los análisis in vivo del grupo EX frente a los grupos AE y EV, respectivamente: hepático (MDA: p<0,0001 y SH: p=0,0033, en ambos; FRAP: p=0,0011 y p=0,0047), muscular (MDA, SH y FRAP: p<0,0001, en ambos; CK: p=0,0001 y p<0,0001; LDH: p<0,0001, en ambos), niveles séricos (MDA: p=0,0003, p=0,0012, SH: p=0,0056, p=0,0200, FRAP: p=0,0017 y p=0,0165) fueron significativas. No hubo diferencia significativa en los marcadores ALT y AST. Se podría concluir que Schinus terebenthifolius EE asociado con HIRE atenuó el estrés oxidativo y el daño muscular en ratas.

ABSTRACT Physical exercise is a known factor that can promote oxidative stress and may result in cellular damage if not neutralized by antioxidant mechanisms. This study aimed to determine if the level of hepatic oxidative stress resulting from high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is affected by the frequency pattern (consecutive vs. non-consecutive) of the training sessions. Thirty-two Wistar rats were divided equally into four groups: two control groups, (CS1) and (CS2), remained sedentary throughout the experiment, and two test groups, (CT1) and (CT2), and were submitted to HIIT for 12 consecutive and non-consecutive (12 sessions, 3 times/wk over four weeks) days, respectively. There were no significant differences in markers of oxidative damage measured in hepatic tissue (TBARS) and markers of antioxidant activity (Sulfhydryl, FRAP), as well as markers of hepatic damage (AST and ALT) and antioxidant defense (Uric Acid) measured in plasma of both HIIT groups after training compared to the control groups. The results indicate that both HIIT performed for 12 consecutive and non-consecutive sessions did not promote hepatic oxidative damage in rats.

RESUMO Introdução: A ansiedade pré-competitiva é um dos fatores psicológicos que pode exercer grande influência sobre o rendimento dos atletas, principalmente, quando se trata de esporte individual como o boxe. Objetivo: Analisar o nível de ansiedade pré-competitiva em atletas do sexo masculino nas categorias adulto e juvenil e sua correlação com os resultados finais do último Campeonato Brasileiro. Métodos: Participaram do estudo 60 atletas juvenis: 38 não medalhistas (17,17 ± 0,54 anos e 66,38 ± 13,21 kg) e 22 medalhistas (17,48 ± 0,54 anos e 66,21 ± 12,96 kg). O grupo “adultos” foi composto por 35 atletas: 11 não medalhistas (22,60 ± 4,65 anos e 68,33 ± 14,08 kg) e 24 medalhistas (22,60 ± 4,82 anos e 67,33 ± 13,13 kg). Resultados: Os níveis de ansiedade cognitiva no grupo de atletas juvenis apresentaram diferenças significativas: os medalhistas apresentaram escores mais baixos do que os não medalhistas (12,77 ± 2,62 e 15,92 ± 5,20, respectivamente). No grupo de adultos, os medalhistas apresentaram maiores escores do que os não medalhistas (15,23 ± 4,42 e 12,00 ± 4,11). Diferenças significativas foram observadas nos níveis de ansiedade somática entre os medalhistas juvenis e os outros grupos (p = 0,038). Além disso, os níveis de autoconfiança apresentaram-se altos em todos os grupos (não-medalhistas juvenis = 29,42 ± 4,82; não-medalhistas adultos = 26,14 ± 4,94, medalhistas juvenis = 31,59 ± 4,24 e medalhistas adultos = 28,91 ± 4,88). Conclusão: Concluiu-se que a autoconfiança pode interferir nos níveis de ansiedade, considerando que boxeadores medalhistas são menos propensos a ansiedade cognitiva do que os não-medalhistas e que ambos os grupos apresentam altos níveis de autoconfiança. ABSTRACT Introduction: Pre-competitive anxiety is one of the psychological factors that can greatly influence athletes' performance, especially when it comes to individual sport like boxing. Objective: To analyze the level of pre-competitive anxiety in male athletes in the adult and young adult categories, and their correlation with the final results of the last Brazilian National Championship. Methods: A total of 60 young adult athletes participated in the study: 38 non-medalists (17.17±0.54 years and 66.38±13.21 kg) and 22 medalists (17.48±0.54 years and 66.21±12.96 kg). The “adults” group consisted of 35 athletes: 11 non-medalists (22.60±4.65 years and 68.33±14.08 kg) and 24 medalists (22.60±4.82 years and 67.33 ±13.13 kg). Results: The levels of cognitive anxiety in the young adult athletes group presented significant differences: medalists presented lower scores than non-medalists (12.77±2.62 and 15.92±5.20, respectively). In the adults group, medalists presented higher scores than non-medalists (15.23±4.42 and 12.00±4.11). Significant differences were observed in somatic anxiety levels between the young adult medalists and the other groups (p = 0.038). In addition, levels of self-confidence were high in all groups (young adult non-medalists = 29.42±4.82; adult non-medalists = 26.14±4.94, young adult medalists = 31.59±4.24 and adult medalists = 28.91±4.88). Conclusion: We conclude that self-confidence may interfere with anxiety levels, considering that medal-winning boxers are less prone to cognitive anxiety than non-medalists, and that both groups have high levels of self-confidence. Level of evidence I; High quality randomized trial with statistically significant difference or no statistically significant difference but narrow confidence intervals.

RESUMO O exercício físico aeróbio eleva o volume de oxigênio consumido e, consequentemente, de espécies reativas de oxigênio. O acúmulo destas culmina em estresse oxidativo, e a susceptibilidade a danos musculares. O açaí contém elevadas concentrações de antioxidantes, responsáveis por reduzir o estresse oxidativo. Esse estudo objetivou avaliar o efeito do consumo crônico de açaí sobre o dano muscular de corredores de rua. 14 corredores homens foram randomicamente divididos em grupos açaí (200g diários) ou controle, durante 25 dias. Foram avaliados, no período pré (M1) e pós intervenção (M2), marcador de dano muscular (CK) em repouso, imediatamente e 24h após corrida, percepção subjetiva do esforço (PSE) e antropometria. No M1, houve elevações significativas de CK após o exercício (0h e 24h) em ambos os grupos, sem haver diferença entre eles. Após a intervenção, observou-se redução significativa da CK 24h no grupo que recebeu açaí, em relação ao M1, demonstrando que o consumo crônico de açaí preveniu danos musculares. Não houve diferença significativa acerca dos dados antropométricos e a PSE entre ambos os momentos e grupos. Conclui-se que suplementação de açaí reduziu significativamente a CK de corredores de rua em prova de 10km, porém, sem alterar a PSE e a composição corporal.

ABSTRACT Aerobic physical exercise increases the volume of oxygen consumed and, consequently, of reactive oxygen species. The accumulation of these culminates in oxidative stress and susceptibility to muscle damage. Açaí berry contains high concentrations of antioxidants, responsible for reducing oxidative stress. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of chronic consumption of açaí on the muscular damage of street runners. Fourteen male runners were randomly divided into açaí berry (200g daily) or control groups for 25 days. They were evaluated in the pre (M1) and post-intervention period (M2), muscle damage marker (CK) at rest, immediately and 24h post-run, subjective effort perception (PSE) and anthropometry. In M1, there were significant increases of CK after exercise (0h and 24h) in both groups, with no difference between them. After the intervention, a significant reduction of CK 24h was observed in the group that received açaí berry, in relation to M1, demonstrating that chronic consumption of açaí berry prevented muscle damage. There was no significant difference between the anthropometric data and the PSE between the two moments and groups. It was concluded that açaí berry supplementation significantly reduced the CK of street runners in 10km test, however, without altering the PSE and body composition.

Abstract After the consolidation of the Brazilian biodiesel industry, issues related to the final destination of the glycerin, the by-product from the biodiesel industrial process, drawing the attention of several researchers. There are several uses to this byproduct. Among them, the obtaining of polymers, such as polyurethane (PU), are very encouraged since the glycerin ca be used, as well as the castor oil, in the replacement of petrochemical polyols. The aim of this work was to propose a new route for the obtainment of a petroleum sorbent based on polyurethane resin from glycerin and castor oil, through the emulsion technique. In addition, maghemite (γ-Fe2O3) was mixed to the polymer matrix, producing a magnetic composite, able to make easier the oil cleanup process. The products synthesized were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, simultaneous Thermogravimetry (TGA) and Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Optical microscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In addition, magnetic force and oil removal capability tests were also performed. The magnetic material was used to remove oil from water, exhibited a good oil removal capability. In a typical test, 1g of the composite containing 5wt% of maghemite was able to remove 10g of oil from water.

RESUMO Este estudo avaliou os efeitos dos crioprotetores e das baixas temperaturas no desenvolvimento embrionário de Prochilodus lineatus, descrevendo suas principais alterações morfológicas. Nos testes de sensibilidade ao frio, as taxas de sobrevivência, no estágio de vinte somitos (20S), foram de 53,6% a 0ºC e 100% a 5ºC. Nos testes de toxicidade, os embriões foram expostos a uma série graduada dos crioprotetores: 1,2-Propanediol (PROP), dimetilsulfóxido (Me2SO4) e glicerol (GLY), terminando em uma combinação de alta osmolaridade. Não houve diferença significativa na sobrevivência dos embriões nas séries do PROP e Me2SO4 nos estágios de 6S e 20S. Nos protocolos de resfriamento, foram avaliados os efeitos da baixa temperatura associados as séries crioprotetoras. A 5ºC, o PROP apresentou taxas de sobrevivência acima de 75% no estádio de gástrula (G) e acima de 90% nos estádios 6S e 20S. Foram observadas altas taxas de anormalidades sendo as mais recorrentes: corpos pequenos, nadadeiras apresentando crescimento celular descontrolado, ruptura da membrana e retração vitelínica. Estes resultados demonstram a necessidade do uso das soluções crioprotetoras, mesmo não havendo nucleação de gelo e, em contrapartida, demonstra que as elevadas concentrações crioprotetoras promovem numerosas lesões morfológicas, comprometendo o desenvolvimento embrionário.

ABSTRACT This study evaluated the effect of the cryoprotectants and the low temperatures on the embryonic development of Prochilodus lineatus, describing their main morphological alterations. On chilling sensitivity test, the survival rates at the twenty somites stage (20S) were 53.6% at 0ºC, and 100% in 5ºC. To test toxicity, the embryos were exposed to a graded series of 1,2-Propanediol (PROP), dimethyl sulfoxide (Me2SO4) and glycerol (GLY), terminating in a solution of high osmolarity. There was no significant difference in the embryos survival of toxicity test between series of PROP and Me2SO4 in the 6S and 20S. In the cooling protocols, were evaluated the effects of low temperature associated with cryoprotectants. At 5ºC, PROP showed survival rates above 75% in the gastrula stage (G) and above 90% in the 6S and 20S stages. High rates of abnormalities were observed, and the most recurrent were: small bodies, fins presenting uncontrolled cell growth, membrane rupture, and retraction. These results demonstrate the need to use cryoprotectant solutions, even when there is no ice nucleation, and, on the other hand, shows that high cryoprotectant concentrations promote numerous morphological lesions, compromising normal embryonic development.

Quisemos avaliar as valências físicas e características antropométricas, em meninas menarquiadas e não menarquiadas da rede pública de Tucuruí/PA, com idade de 11 e 12 anos. Avaliou-se 98 meninas com 11 anos e 105 com idade de 12 anos, divididas em dois grupos: menarquidas e não menarquidas. Foi avaliadado peso, estatura, índice de massa corpórea (IMC), a composição corporal de duas dobras (tríceptal e subescapular), os testes físicos foram o Shutle Run, Salto horizontal, 1.609 metros, velocidade de 30 metros, arremesso do “Medicine Ball”. Aplicou-se o teste t para amostras independentes nas variáveis com distribuição normal e o teste Mann-Whitney para as demais, (p < 0,05), com o SPSS for Windows 15.0. Verificou-se diferenças significativas na massa corporal (44.05 e 37.85kg) e estatura (1.48 e 1.42m) entre as meninas de 11 anos. Já nas escolares com 12 anos houve diferença significativa em relação à estatura (1.51 e 1.44m), IMC (19.86 e 18.49 kg/m2), Salto Horizontal (135.49 e 129.40cm), Arremesso do Medicine Ball (238.29 e 207.42cm), corrida de 1.609 metros (11.30 e 10.37 min) e no VO2Máx predito (33.67 e 36.05ml.kg-1.min-1). As menarquiadas apresentaram valores superiores às não menarquiadas nas medidas antropométricas e nos testes de arremesso de “medicine ball”.

It was our objective to evaluate the anthropometric variables and the physical qualities in girls with menarche and without menarche from public school of Tucuruí - PA, with 11 to 12 years old. Ninety-eight girls aged 11 and 105 aged 12 years were evaluated girls and divided into two groups: girls with menarche and girls without menarche. Weight and height, body mass index (BMI), body composition of two skinfolds (triceps and subscapular) were registered. Also, were assessed the performance in shuttle Run, horizontal jump, 1609 meters running, a 30 meters’ sprint run and a 3kg medicine ball throwing. After normality testing with the Kolmogorov Smirnov a t test for independent samples was computed or the Mann-Whitney test. Alpha value was set at 0.05. All calculations were computed using SPSS for Windows 15.0. It was found significant differences in body mass (44.05 and 37.85 kg) and height (1.48 and 1.42m) between groups among 11 years old girls. In the12 years old girls no significant differences were found between groups in relation to height (1.51 and 1.44m), BMI (19.86 and 18.49 kg/m2), horizontal jump (135.49 and 129.40cm), medicine ball throwing (238.29 and 207.42cm), 1.609 meters running (11.30 and 10.37m) and predicted VO2max (33.67 and 36.055 ml.kg-1.min-1). Girls with menstrual cycle had higher values than their counterparts in anthropometric measurements and in the medicine ball throwing.

O estudo teve por proposta, verificar a correlação entre densidade mineral óssea e nível de atividade física, bem como à ingestão alimentar e parâmetros antropométricos, além de avaliar a densidade mineral óssea (DMO) de mulheres menopausa. Foi feito o exame de densitometria óssea, da região lombar (L1 a L4), colo de fêmur, e fêmur total, como também utilizar o auto-recordatório das atividades do cotidiano de Bouchard; utilizado o registro alimentar de Buker e Stuart, para dosar e quantificar a ingestão diária de cálcio e vitamina D. Os dados foram analisados por meio do teste de Kolmogorov-Smirnov foi considerado um valor padrão de α = 0,05 para comparar as médias das DMO. Constatou-se que cem por cento dos indivíduos avaliados, apresentam um grau de DMO, abaixo da média prevista pela organização mundial de saúde (OMS), estando 14,4% no quadro de osteopenia e 85,6% com osteoporose, com uma menor DMO na região do fêmur (0,721g), e com maior perda entre as mulheres que não fazem atividade física (0,698g). Não houve correlação entre a prática de atividade física e a densidade mineral óssea, porém existe correlação quando associada a padrões antropométricos e ingestão diária de vitamina D.

This paper aimed to verify the correlation between bone mineral density and the level of physical activity, as well as the food intake and the anthropometric parameters. It intended to analyse the bone mineral density (BMD) of menopausal women through the bone densitometry test (DO) in the lumbar region (L1 to L4), femoral neck and total femur, and also use Bouchard’s self-recall of daily activities; employing the food record from Buker and Stuart to dose and quantify the daily intake of calcium and vitamin D. The data were analysed via Kolmogorov-Smirnov’s test, and default value of α = 0.05 was set to compare the BMD averages. It was observed that one hundred percent of the assessed individuals had a BMD level below the average fixed by WHO: 14.4% with osteopenia and 85.6% with osteoporosis; a lower BMD in the femoral area (0.721g) and the biggest loss among the sedentary ones (0.698g). It was noticed that there was a correlation between the physical activities and the BMD only when associated with anthropometric standards and the daily ingestion of vitamin D.
