Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a densidade e a composição do banco de sementes de plantas daninhas do solo ao se cultivar feijão, milho e soja no sistema plantio direto (SPD), em rotação com espécies de cobertura de inverno, e no sistema plantio convencional (SPC). O experimento foi instalado em campo, em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com três repetições. A contagem do banco de sementes foi realizada em amostras de solo (0-10 e 10-20 cm) em quatro pontos de cada unidade experimental, aos 15, 30, 60 e 90 dias de cultivo. As culturas de feijão, milho e soja foram semeadas no SPD com diferentes coberturas vegetais do solo em rotação, bem como no SPC. O SPD proporcionou banco de sementes do solo com maior densidade e abundância das espécies Gnaphalium spicatum e Oxalis corniculata com o cultivo de milho, soja e feijão. A espécie Lolium multiflorum teve menor densidade e menos sementes no banco do solo ao se adotar o SPD. O uso das coberturas de inverno aveia-preta e ervilhaca, em cultivo isolado ou em consórcio, proporcionou menor densidade de espécies de plantas daninhas, em especial de L. multiflorum. O SPD proporciona menor densidade de espécies de plantas daninhas no banco de sementes do solo que o SPC.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the density and composition of the soil weed seed bank when bean, corn, and soybean are cultivated in the no-tillage system (NTS) in rotation with winter cover crop species and in the conventional tillage system (CTS). The experiment was installed in a complete randomized block design with three replicates. The evaluation of the seed bank was performed on soil samples (0-10 and 10-20 cm) in four points of each experimental unit, at 15, 30, 60, and 90 days of cultivation. Bean, corn, and soybean crops were sown in the NTS with different soil cover crops in rotation, as well as in the CTS. The NTS provided a more dense and abundant soil seed bank of the species Gnaphalium spicatum and Oxalis corniculata when corn, soybean, and bean were cultivated. The species Lolium multiflorum showed lower density and less seeds in the soil seed bank when the NTS was adopted. The use of the winter cover crops black oat and cow vetch, cultivated individually or in consortium, resulted in a lower density of weed species, especially of L. multiflorum. The NTS provides a lower density of weed species in the soil seed bank than the CTS.

RESUMO A interferência causada pelas plantas daninhas é um dos fatores que limitam a produtividade do feijoeiro e dentre essas destaca-se o picão-preto como uma das principais espécies que competem com a cultura pelos recursos do meio. Assim sendo, objetivou-se com este trabalho, avaliar a habilidade competitiva de cultivares de feijão do tipo preto (BRS Campeiro, IPR Uirapuru, SCS204 Predileto e BRS Supremo) na presença de biótipo de picão-preto. O delineamento utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos foram arranjados em série substitutiva e constituíram-se de proporções da cultura e de picão-preto: 100:0; 75:25; 50:50: 24:75 e 0:100, o que corresponde a 40:0, 30:10, 20:20, 10:30 e 0:40 plantas vaso-1. A análise da competitividade foi efetuada por meio de diagramas aplicados a experimentos substitutivos, mais uso de índices de competitividade relativa. Avaliou-se a área foliar e a massa seca da parte aérea aos 40 dias após a emergência das espécies. Houve competição pelos mesmos recursos do meio entre as cultivares de feijão e o picão-preto, ocasionando interferência negativa no crescimento das espécies, independentemente da proporção de plantas. As cultivares de feijão apresentaram menor perda relativa ao reduzirem as variáveis morfológicas do picão-preto e demonstram possuir superioridade na habilidade competitiva em relação à planta daninha. A competição interespecífica é menos prejudicial para ambas as espécies envolvidas do que a competição intraespecífica.

ABSTRACT Weed interference is a factor that limits the productivity of beans and, among these, hairy beggarticks is one of the main species competing with the crop for environmental resources. Thus, the aim of this study is to evaluate the competitive ability of black bean cultivars (BRS Campeiro, IPR Uirapuru, SCS204 Predileto and BRS Supremo) in the presence of a biotype of hairy beggarticks. The experimental design is a completely randomized block with four replications. Treatments were arranged in a replacement series, consisting of a proportion of the crop and the hairy beggarticks: 100:0; 75:25; 50:50: 24:75, and 0:100, which corresponds to 40:0, 30:10, 20:20, 10:30, and 0:40 plant pots1. We accomplished competitive analysis through diagrams applied to the replacement series, as well as using relative competitive indices. The leaf area and shoot dry mass were evaluated at 40 days after emergence of the species. There was competition between bean cultivars and hairy beggarticks for the same environmental resources, causing negative interference in the growth of the species, independent of the proportion of plants. Bean cultivars had a lower relative loss by reducing the morphological variables of the hairy beggarticks, thereby demonstrating superiority in its competitive ability in relation to the weed. Interspecific competition is less damaging than intraspecific competition for both species.

Objetivou-se com o trabalho avaliar os efeitos de épocas de emergência das plantas daninhas, azevém e nabo, sobre a cultura da cevada. O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento de blocos casualizados, arranjado em esquema fatorial 2x5, com três repetições. No fator A, foram alocadas as plantas competidoras (azevém e nabo) e no B as épocas de emergência (14 e 07 dias antes, no mesmo dia, 07 e 14 dias depois da emergência da cultura). No início da floração da cevada, foram mensuradas as variáveis: estatura das plantas, número de colmos ou caules, área foliar e matéria seca da parte aérea da cultura e das plantas daninhas. Todas as variáveis avaliadas da cevada apresentaram aumento de valor com o atraso da emergência das plantas daninhas. As espécies, cultivada ou daninhas, que emergiram antes, apresentaram maior habilidade competitiva, dominando o ambiente quando emergiram 14 dias antes uma da outra. Quanto mais tarde ocorrer a emergência das plantas daninhas com relação à cultura, menor é a interferência e, desse modo, maior é a habilidade da cevada em competir com a espécie daninha pelos recursos disponíveis no meio.

The objective was to evaluate the effects of times of emergence of the weed ryegrass species and wild radish on barley. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design, arranged in a 2x5 factorial design, with three replicates. In factor A were allocated the competing species (ryegrass and wild radish) and in factor B the emergence periods (14 and 7 days before, on the same day, 7 and 14 days after crop emergence). At the beginning of barley flowering, the following variables were quantified: plant height, number of stalks or stems, leaf area, and shoot dry mass of crop and weeds. All barley variables had increased in value with the delay in weed emergence. The species, cultivated or weeds, that emerged earlier showed greater competitive ability, dominating the environment when emerging 14 days before each other. The later the emergence of weeds with respect to the crop, the less the interference they cause, and, thereby, the crop presents a greater ability to compete with the weeds for available resources in the environment.

A distribuição e a dissipação dos herbicidas nos solos são processos dinâmicos e únicos para cada relação solo-herbicida. Neste trabalho, a meia-vida do diuron foi determinada em cinco solos (Latossolo Vermelho Amarelo, Latossolo Vermelho e Latossolo Amarelo), com diferentes valores de pH. As concentrações do diuron foram determinadas em amostras dos referidos solos coletadas em oito épocas (1, 8, 15, 22, 36, 66, 96 e 156 dias após a aplicação do herbicida na dose 3,0kg ha-1). Em uma parte dessas amostras, foi feita a quantificação do diuron por cromatografia líquida de alta eficiência e, na outra parte, os testes biológicos, visando à confirmação dos resultados das análises cromatográficas. Constatou-se que a persistência do diuron é dependente dos atributos físicos e químicos dos solos. Todavia, a correção do pH do solo favoreceu apenas a degradação do herbicida em solos arenosos com baixo teor de matéria orgânica. A meia-vida do diuron nos solos estudados variou de 40 a 91 após a sua aplicação, sendo maior no solo com maior teor de matéria orgânica. Esses resultados foram confirmados pelos testes biológicos que se mostraram eficientes e complementares às análises cromatográficas.

The distribution and dissipation of herbicides on soils are dynamic and unique processes for each soil-herbicide relation. In this research, the half-life of diuron was determined in five soils (Red-Yellow Latosol, Red Latosol, and Yellow Latosol), with different pH values. Diuron concentrations were determined in samples of each soil collected at eight different times (1, 8, 15, 22, 36, 66, 96 and 156 days after herbicide application at 3.0kg ha-1). Part of each soil sample was used to quantify diuron by high performance liquid chromatography. The other part of soil sample was used to do biological tests in order to confirm the results of chromatographic analysis. It was found that the persistence of diuron is dependent on the physical and chemical soil attributes. However, the correction of soil pH favored only herbicide degradation in sandy soils with low organic matter content. The half-life of diuron in soils ranged from 40 to 91 after its application and it was higher in soil with higher organic matter content. The biological tests confirmed these results and they were efficient and complementary to the chromatographic analysis.

Objetivou-se com o trabalho verificar os teores foliares dos macronutrientes e o desenvolvimento das cultivares de cana-açúcar 'RB72454', 'RB867515' e 'SP801816' em competição com populações de Brachiaria brizantha. Os tratamentos utilizados foram: 1) cultivar de cana-de-açúcar 'RB72454' e população de B. brizantha de 0, 1, 3, 7, 15, 32, 40, 32, 64, 92, 88 e 112; 2) 'RB867515' e 0, 1, 4, 14, 10, 18, 28, 30, 36, 54, 52 e 72; 3) 'SP801816' e 0, 1, 3, 6, 14, 20, 24, 26, 26, 32, 46 e 56 plantas m-2. Aos 120 dias após a emergência da cultura, foi quantificada a massa seca (MS) da parte aérea da cana-de-açúcar e da B. brizantha. Aos 290 dias após a emergência (DAE), foram coletadas amostras das folhas +3 (terceira folha a partir do ápice das plantas), nas quais foram avaliadas as concentrações de nitrogênio total, fósforo, potássio, magnésio e cálcio. Com o aumento da população de B. brizantha, observou-se redução da MS somente na cultivar 'RB72454'. O aumento na população de B. brizantha reduziu a concentração de fósforo em todas as cultivares, nitrogênio em 'RB72454' e 'SP801816', potássio e magnésio para 'RB72454'. Nas populações mais elevadas de B. brizantha, houve maior competição pelos nutrientes disponíveis no meio, sendo o fósforo o mais limitante. A cultivar 'RB72454' foi a menos competitiva pelos nutrientes no solo. As cultivares apresentaram redução média de 76% na produtividade de colmos na densidade máxima de B. brizantha.

This trial aimed to verify foliar levels of macronutrients and development of sugarcane cultivars 'RB72454', 'RB867515' and 'SP801816' under competition with populations of Brachiaria brizantha. The field trial was installed where treatments were: 1) Sugarcane 'RB72454' and B. brizantha population of 0, 1, 3, 7, 15, 32, 40, 32, 64, 92, 88 e 112; 2) 'RB867515' e 0, 1, 4, 14, 10, 18, 28, 30, 36, 54, 52 e 72; 3) 'SP801816' e 0, 1, 3, 6, 14, 20, 24, 26, 26, 32, 46 e 56 plants m-2. At 120 days after crop emergence, the crop and weed shoot dry mass (MS) was analyzed. At 290 days, samples of the 3rd leaf were collected. From these samples, concentration of total nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium where measured. As the competition increased, a reduction in MS was observed only for 'RB72454'. Increases in population B. brizantha caused reduction in leaf phosphorus concentration for all varieties; nitrogen reduction for 'RB72454' and 'SP801816', as well as potassium and magnesium for 'RB72454'. There was higher competition for nutrients as B. brizantha population was increased, being phosphorus the more limiting nutrient for growth under competition. The variety 'RB72454' demonstrated lower competitive ability in relation to the other ones. All varieties presented average reduction of 76% in the yield in maximum density of B. brizantha.

Objetivou-se, com o trabalho, avaliar o controle de Brachiaria plantaginea, com herbicidas aplicados em pré e pós-emergência, e a influência destes na produtividade do milho híbrido Pioneer 3063. O experimento foi conduzido de outubro de 2006 a fevereiro de 2007, no município de Capão do Leão (RS). Adotou-se o delineamento experimental de blocos casualizados, em sistema de cultivo convencional, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos foram constituídos pelo herbicida s-metolachlor (1.620 g ha-1) e pela mistura em tanque de atrazine + nicosulfuron (1.250 + 28 g ha-1), aplicados em pré e pós-emergência da cultura do milho, respectivamente, mais testemunha capinada e infestada. A população B. plantaginea originou-se do banco de sementes, com população média de 312 plantas m-2. As variáveis avaliadas foram o controle de B. plantaginea e os componentes do rendimento, bem como a produtividade de grãos de milho. O tratamento herbicida que proporcionou melhor controle da planta daninha foi a mistura de atrazine + nicosulfuron, aplicada em pós-emergência da cultura, mantendo-se o controle do início ao fim do ciclo da cultura. O herbicida s-metolachlor mostrou eficiência no controle inicial de plantas daninhas, até os 20 dias após a emergência da cultura. O não controle de B. plantaginea causou interferência em todas as variáveis avaliadas, apresentando limitação de produtividade de grãos de até 98%.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the Brachiaria plantaginea control with pre and post-emergence herbicides and their effects on the hybrid Pioneer 3063 maize yield. The trial was conducted from October 2006 to February 2007, in Capão do Leão, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil, by using a complete randomized blocks design, with four replications, under the conventional sowing system. The treatments consisted of the herbicide s-metolachlor (1,620 g ha-1) and the mixture in tank of atrazine + nicosulfuron (1,250 + 28 g ha-1), applied in pre and early post-emergence of the culture, respectively, plus one infested and one weed-free control. The plants of B. plantaginea were obtained from the soil seed bank, with average population of 312 plants m-2. The evaluated variables were control of B. plantaginea by the herbicides and maize grain yield components, as well as grain yield. Among the herbicides, the one that provided better control of B. plantaginea was the mixture atrazine plus nicosulfuron, applied in post-emergence of the crop, maintaining the field free of B. plantaginea, from the beginning to the end of the cycle. The herbicide s-metolachlor showed to be an alternative for the initial control of weeds in maize, up to 20 days after emergence. The absence of B. plantaginea control caused interference in all grain yield components of maize, being observed up to 98% of grain yield losses.
