OBJETIVO: Avaliar os resultados do implante de anel intraestromal (Keraring®) com laser de femtosegundo para o tratamento de ectasias corneanas (ceratocone e degeneração marginal pelúcida). MÉTODO: Estudo retrospectivo em 35 pacientes consecutivos com ectasia corneana submetidos a implante de anel intracorneano (Keraring®). Acuidade visual (logMAR), refração, ceratometria e a análise vetorial do astigmatismo foram as variáveis analisadas. O túnel para o implante dos segmentos foi confeccionado com laser de femtosegundo. Os pacientes foram seguidos pelo período mínimo de três meses. RESULTADOS: A acuidade visual corrigida melhorou de 0,40 ± 0,20 para 0,25 ± 0,13 (p=0,0002), com diminuição do equivalente esférico de -5,41 ± 4,78 D no pré-op. para -2,83 ± 3,29 D no pós-op. (p=0,0002) e média de 3,92 ± 2,52 D na análise vetorial do astigmatismo. O K máximo variou de 51,65 ± 5,83 D para 48,58 ± 5,54 D (p=0,000) e o K mínimo de 45,92 ± 4,64 D para 43,96 ± 5,06 D (p=0,0041). Não houveram complicações intra ou pós-operatórias). CONCLUSÃO: Os resultados deste estudo mostraram que o implante do anel intra estromal é um procedimento seguro, com baixo risco de complicações, tendo determinado importante melhora na acuidade visual e dos dados topográficos de pacientes com ectasias corneanas.

PURPOSE: To assess the outcomes of intrastromal corneal ring (ISCR) implantation for the treatment of corneal ectasia. METHODS: Thirty-five consecutive patients with secondary corneal ectasia treated with keraring intrastromal corneal ring segment implantation aided by intralaser femtosecond technique (K-ICRS-FS) were evaluated. Visual acuity (logMAR), refraction and astigmatism vector analysis were measured preoperatively and 3 months postoperatively using vector analysis as described by some authors. RESULTS: Visual acuity improved from 0.40 ± 0.20 to 0.25 ± 0.13 logMAR (p=0.0002), with reduction of the spherical equivalent from -5.41 ± 4.78 D to -2.83 ± 3.29 D (P=0.0002). Mean astigmatism reduction was 3.92 ± 2.52 D. K maximum decreased from 51.65 ± 5.83 D preoperatively to 48.58 ± 5.54 D (p=0.001) 3 months after the surgery and K minimum decreased from 45.92 ± 4.64 D to 43.96 ± 5.06 D (p=0.0041). There were no intraoperative or postoperative complications. CONCLUSION: Intrastromal corneal ring implantation with the use of a femtosecond laser was a safe procedure, with low risk of complications and significant improvement on visual acuity and topographic data in this seeting of patients with secondary corneal ectasia.

In the last decades the rapid socio-economic transformation towards a knowledge-based society has meant that the intangibles are increasingly related to the value creation process within organizations. Enterprises with tourist activity include relevant intangible components in its services. They need to professionalize management towards sustainability according to dynamic demands of markets. The MERITUM Project has developed guidelines for measurement and management of intangible assets. This paper shows an application case following these guidelines adapted to a tourist SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) of the city of Tandil, Argentina, and an Intellectual Capital Report is presented. The results of this application become satisfactory as the owners of the tourist SME recognize that identification, measurement and management of intangibles allows improving their business development.

La rápida transformación socio-económica de las últimas décadas hacia una sociedad basada en el conocimiento ha hecho que los intangibles estén cada vez más relacionados con el proceso de creación de valor dentro de las organizaciones. En este entorno las empresas con actividad turística cuyos servicios incluyen relevantes componentes inmateriales, necesitan profesionalizar la gestión para lograr su sustentabilidad acorde a las dinámicas exigencias emergentes de sus mercados. En este trabajo se muestra un caso de aplicación siguiendo las Directrices MERITUM para la medición y gestión de activos intangibles adaptadas a una empresa con actividad turística de la ciudad de Tandil y se expone un Informe de Capital intelectual. Los resultados de esta aplicación aparecen como promisorios dado que los empresarios reconocen que la identificación, medición y gestión de los intangibles les permite mejorar el desarrollo de sus empresas.

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the reliability and clinical utility of a Portuguese version of the Abnormal Involuntary Movements Scale (AIMS). Videotaped interviews with 16 psychiatric inpatients treated with antipsychotic drugs for at least 5 years were evaluated. Reliability was assessed by the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) between three raters, two with and one without clinical training in psychopathology. Clinical utility was assessed by the difference between the scores of patients with (N = 11) and without (N = 5) tardive dyskinesia (TD). Patients with TD exhibited a higher severity of global evaluation by the AIMS (sum of scores: 4.2 ± 0.9 vs 0.4 ± 0.2; score on item 8: 2.3 ± 0.3 vs 0.4 ± 0.2, TD vs controls). The ICC for the global evaluation was fair between the two skilled raters (0.58-0.62) and poor between these raters and the rater without clinical experience (0.05-0.29). Thus, we concluded that the Portuguese version of the AIMS shows an acceptable inter-rater reliability, but only between clinically skilled raters, and that it is clinically useful.
