RESUMO: O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar alterações fisiológicas e bioquímicas em gemas de caquizeiro ‘Fuyu’ durante a dormência. Ramos foram coletados entre março e agosto de 2015. A dormência foi avaliada pelo teste biológico de estacas de nós isolados, a 25 °C e fotoperíodo de 16 h. As variáveis analisadas foram umidade ponderal, teor de açúcares solúveis, atividade respiratória, atividade das enzimas superóxido dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), ascorbato peroxidase (APX), guaiacol peroxidase (POD) e polifenoloxidase (PPO), teor de peróxido de hidrogênio (H2O2) e peroxidação lipídica. No final de março de 2015 as plantas já estavam dormentes, as folhas e frutos presentes indicam efeito de paradormência. A indução da endodormência pode ter ocorrido em junho de 2015, quando iniciou acúmulo de horas de frio (HF) abaixo de 7,2 °C e maiores HF abaixo de 12 °C, que coincidiu com o período que houve diminuição da umidade e da atividade respiratória, aumento dos açúcares redutores, diminuição da atividade da SOD, CAT, APX e PPO e aumento de H2O2. Após acúmulo de 553 HF abaixo de 12 °C, a capacidade de brotação aumentou e as gemas apresentaram aumento da umidade, diminuição do teor de açúcares redutores, aumento da atividade respiratória, baixa atividade da SOD, CAT, APX e POD e elevados teores de H2O2.

ABSTRACT: This study identified physiological and biochemical changes in ‘Fuyu’ persimmon buds during dormancy. Branches were collected between March and August 2015. Dormancy was evaluated by biological testing of isolated node cuttings at 25 °C and a photoperiod of 16 h. The variables analyzed were water content; reducing sugar content; respiratory activity; activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), guaiacol peroxidase (POD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) enzymes; hydrogen peroxide content (H2O2) and lipid peroxidation. At the end of March 2015, the plants were already dormant, and the leaves and fruits present indicated a paradormancy effect. Induction of endodormancy may have occurred in June 2015, when chilling hours (CH) below 7.2 °C and higher CH below 12 °C began to accumulate, which coincided with the period in which there was a decrease in water content and respiratory activity, an increase in reducing sugars, a decrease in SOD, CAT, APX and PPO and an increase in H2O2. After an accumulation of 553 CH below 12 °C, the budburst capacity increased, and the buds presented increased water content, decreased reducing sugars content, increased respiratory activity, low activity in SOD, CAT, APX and POD and high levels of H2O2.

ABSTRACT: The incorporation of organic matter to the soil not only improves nutrient content, but also reduces the survival of Stenocarpella, the causal agent of stalk rot, Diplodia ear rot, and grey leaf spot, in maize stubble. We evaluated the effect of organic waste incorporation on Stenocarpella survival in maize stalks, the activity of suppressiveness-related enzymes, and nutrient contents. We conducted the assays in the municipalities of Lavras and Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Maize stalks infested with Stenocarpella were kept in field conditions for three months after poultry litter, swine manure, fish hydrolysate, compost sewage sludge, and urea application. Infested stalks, without residue amendment, were kept on surface or incorporated into the soil, representing negative and positive controls. Stenocarpella concentration in stalks was assessed using qPCR expressed as cycle threshold number. Sewage sludge, buried stalks, and stalks retained on the surface showed reduction of pathogen inoculum. Swine manure and urea did not reduce the quantity of DNA. In the experiment conducted in Lavras, poultry litter stimulated β-glucosidase, urease and hydrolysis of fluorescein diacetate activities when compared to the negative control. Sewage sludge, poultry litter, and swine manure increased Ca in the soil by 44 %, 38 % and 36 %, respectively, in the experiment conducted in Lavras. Poultry litter increased Ntotal three months after application. The results indicate that organic wastes are promising in improving nutrient content, activity of hydrolysis-related enzymes, but Stenocarpella inoculum dynamics should be taken into consideration when deciding on the specific organic amendment.

Neste artigo é proposto um sistema distribuído de medição baseado em uma rede de sensores sem fios (RSSF) empregado na estimação do teor de água de vegetação em campos agrícolas. Uma RSSF instalada por todo o campo permite medir e mapear as variáveis de solo, de ar e de plantas e transmitir esses dados, através de pequenos rádios, até um computador central. O conteúdo de água é obtido pela medição da atenuação dos sinais (RF) de comunicação da rede, sem se utilizar qualquer sensor dedicado a esta finalidade. É apresentada a importância de se fazer medição distribuída para se estimar parâmetros de culturas agrícolas. Um modelo de propagação de ondas de rádio através da vegetação é utilizado como base para o desenvolvido do método de estimação do conteúdo de água da vegetação através da RSSF. Resultados experimentais confirmam a viabilidade da proposta.

This paper proposes a distributed measuring system based on wireless sensor networks (WSN) employed to estimate vegetation water content in agricultural fields. A WSN deployed along the whole field permits to measure and map soil, air and plant variables and transmit these data, by small radios, to a central computer. Water content is obtained by measuring the attenuation of the network communication signals (RF), without the use of any specific sensor. The need of distributed measurements to estimate agricultural crop parameters is pointed out. A mathematical model of radio wave propagation through vegetation is used to develop the method of estimating vegetation water content with a RSSF. Field tests confirmed the viability of the proposal.
