Abstract This study consisted of determining the effect of Bacillus strains inoculated alone or in combination with phytopathogenic fungi on the production of human health-related compounds and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in tomato fruits. Seedlings were cultivated under greenhouse conditions and inoculated with B. amyloliquefaciens, B. methylotrophicus and B. subtilis alone or in combination with Alternaria solani, Fusarium oxysporum and Phytophthora infestans. Fully ripe fruits were harvested and evaluated for carotenoid, phenol and VOCs contents. Lycopene was the most abundant carotenoid (46.4-167.62 µg/g), followed by β-carotene and lutein. Fruits from plants inoculated with Bacillus had the highest carotenoid content. In contrast, phytopathogens decreased the carotenoid contents, especially the lycopene content. The content of total phenols ranged from 0.42 to 0.90 mg GAE/g. The content of these compounds increased 1.5-fold in fruits from plants inoculated with Bacillus strains, especially those treated with B. methylotrophicus, but the greatest increase (1.9-fold) was observed in plants inoculated with phytopathogens. Both Bacillus strains and pathogens increased the antioxidant capacity, with a 2.8-fold increase compared to the control. Thirty-two VOCs were identified in the tested tomatoes. The Bacillus strains caused an increase in the concentration of VOCs, which could be associated with an increase in fruit quality.

Resumen Antecedentes y objetivo: La endoscopía digestiva se considera un procedimiento de alto riesgo para COVID-19 por lo que se han hecho recomendaciones para su práctica durante la pandemia. Se realizó una encuesta para conocer el apego a las recomendaciones para la práctica de la endoscopía durante la pandemia por COVID-19 en México y Latinoamérica. Material y métodos: Encuesta electrónica en médicos endoscopistas de México y Latinoamérica consistente en 43 preguntas para la evaluación de 4 rubros: aspectos generales y sociodemográficos, aspectos pre, intra y pos- procedimiento. Resultados: Se obtuvo respuesta por parte de 338 endoscopistas de 15 países en Latinoamérica. La valoración telefónica previa, el lavado de manos y uso de cubrebocas se hizo en menos del 60% de los pacientes. El 63% contaban con área de triaje respiratorio. El 65% había recibido entrenamiento para la colocación/retiro del equipo de protección personal (EPP) y 49% tenían un área específica para retiro/colocación de este. El 78% de los endoscopistas solo realizaban urgencias o procedimientos sensibles al tiempo. El 83% de los endoscopistas que había hecho un procedimiento en las últimas 4 semanas había tenido EPP completo. El seguimiento telefónico posprocedimiento frecuente se realizaba solo en el 31% de los centros. El 72% había reutilizado EPP. La descontaminación de la sala fue realizada >75% de las ocasiones solo por el 47%. Conclusión: El apego a las recomendaciones para la práctica de la endoscopia durante la pandemia por COVID-19 es adecuado en la parte intraprocedimiento. Sin embargo, es deficiente en los aspectos pre y post procedimiento.

Abstract In Nayarit, Mexico, soursop production is affected by the pathogens of Pestalotiopsis sp. and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides that cause dry rot and Lasiodiplodia pseudotheobromae soft rot. In the present study, the in vitro antagonism of three species of Streptomyces, three of Trichoderma and three of Bacillus were evaluated. The Trichoderma strains showed different inhibition in the pathogens evaluated, Trichoderma longibrachiatum showed the highest PIRG in vitro, which was 60.45, 59.33 and 57.9 when confronted against C. gloeosporioides, Pestalotiopsis sp., and L. pseudotheobromae, respectively. The bacteria showed lower PIRG than the fungi. B. methylotrophicus exhibited the highest capacity of inhibition of the experiment with 58.22 % of PIRG against Pestalotiopsis sp. The Streptomyces strains were the most effective and could be studied in future researches on the biological control of fruit pathogens, since they exerted 100 % inhibition except S. viridochromogenes that presented a percentage of inhibition of radial growth (PIRG) of 88.3 % against Lasiodiplodia pseudotheobromae.

Resumen En Nayarit, México, la producción de guanábana es afectada por los patógenos de fruto Pestalotiopsis sp. y Colletotrichum gloeosporioides que provocan pudrición seca y Lasiodiplodia pseudotheobromae pudrición blanda. En el presente estudio, se evaluó el antagonismo in vitro de tres especies de Streptomyces, tres de Trichoderma y tres de Bacillus. Las cepas de Trichoderma mostraron diferente inhibición en los patógenos evaluados, Trichoderma longibrachiatum mostró el mayor PICR, que fueron de 60.45, 59.33 y 57.9 al confrontarse contra C. gloeosporioides, Pestalotiopsis sp., y L. pseudotheobromae, respectivamente. En el caso de las bacterias, el mayor PICR fue de 58.22 % con B. methylotrophicus contra Pestalotiopsis sp. Las cepas de Streptomyces fueron las más eficaces y podrían estudiarse en futuras investigaciones sobre el control biológico de patógenos de fruto, ya que ejercieron el 100 % de inhibición excepto S. viridochromogenes que presentó un porcentaje de inhibición de crecimiento radial (PICR) de 88.3 % contra Lasiodiplodia pseudotheobromae.

Abstract: The seismic records are in general valuable information, especially in cases where damage in buildings has occurred. The main purpose of the present document is to describe the principal results of the analysis of features of ground motions due to the main three earthquakes that occurred in Spain on May 11, 2011. In this day the major earthquake had a magnitude of 5.1 Mw . This event triggered different levels of damage in numerous buildings in the city of Lorca located in southern Spain. Unfortunately, 9 persons died due mainly to the collapse of non-structural elements. We describe in the present paper the application of the software Seismograms Analyzer-e (SA-e) to perform the processing and the analysis of the seismic records obtained in five stations during the main three earthquakes on May 11 (the largest earthquake of magnitude 5.1 Mw, the precursor of magnitude 4.5 Mw, and the aftershock of magnitude 3.9 Mw). We also highlight the significant similitudes between the seismograms generated in the LOR station during these three earthquakes. Additionally, we determined the values of acceleration that occurred in the roof of the buildings of Lorca, because these values of acceleration contributed both to the damage of numerous buildings and the collapse of several parapets of some buildings. The analysis of these accelerations is relevant because the collapse of some parapets was the cause of the death of the 9 people that died during the main earthquake. For example, according to our study in the roof of a building with a fundamental period of 0.25 s the acceleration could have reached values near to 1.04 g. We also analyzed the potential of damage in function of the values of CAVSTD. Additionally, we determined hypothetical seismic forces for the design of parapets in buildings of Lorca considering the NCSE-02 normative, and the values of Sa based on the seismic records. We determined a significant difference between the seismic forces that could have been used to design the parapets of the buildings in the Lorca city and the forces determined according to the values of PGA that were proposed in a recent study of seismic hazard for Spain.

Resumen El objetivo del estudio fue determinar la distribución de la chinche de encaje Pseudacysta perseae e identificar sus enemigos naturales en huertos de aguacate del estado de Nayarit, México. Se realizaron muestreos semanales en 30 huertos comerciales con cultivares Hass, Hall y Choquette en los municipios de Xalisco, Tepic y San Blas, en el periodo de enero a julio de 2016. Los especímenes recolectados de P. perseae se trasladaron al Laboratorio de Parasitología Agrícola de la UAN, subsecuentemente se separaron las muestras para la obtención de parasitoides, depredadores y hongos entomopatógenos. De un total de 30 zonas muestreadas, sólo se registró la presencia de P. perseae en 20 huertos con un nivel medio de infestación de 434 huevos, 107 ninfas y 23 adultos por sitio. Se identificó un total de 175 especímenes de enemigos naturales, de ellos 61 eran parasitoides de la familia Trichogrammatidae; 58 adultos de P. perseae mostraron síntomas de infección fúngica, identificados morfológica y molecularmente como Metarhizium anisopliae y Beauveria bassiana con incidencias de 3 y 9,4 %, respectivamente. Además, se recolectaron 56 especímenes de depredadores pertenecientes a las especies Cycloneda sanguinea, Stethorus sp. y Pentilia sp.

Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the distribution of the lace bug Pseudacysta perseae and to identify their natural enemies in avocado orchards in the state of Nayarit, Mexico; weekly sampling was conducted on 30 commercial orchards with Hass, Hall and Choquette avocado cultivars in the municipalities of Xalisco, Tepic and San Blas, from January to July 2016. The specimens collected were transferred to the Laboratory of Agricultural Parasitology of the Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit - UAN, and subsequently were individually separated to obtain parasitoids, predators and entomopathogenic fungi. Out of a total of 30 sampled areas, only P. perseae was recorded in 20 of the orchards, with an average infestation level of 434 eggs, 107 nymphs and 23 adults per site. A total of 175 natural enemy specimens were identified, of which 61 were parasitoids belonging to Trichogrammatidae family, 58 adults of P. perseae with symptomatology of fungal infection, identified morphological and molecularly as Metarhizium anisopliae and Beauveria bassiana, with incidences of 3.0 % and 9.4 %, respectively. In addition, 56 predators were caught belonging to the species Cycloneda sanguinea, Stethorus sp. and Pentilia sp.

Abstract: Eupelmus cushmani (Crawford) (Hymenoptera: Eupelmidae) is recorded for first time as parasitoid of the avocado stem weevil (Copturus aguacatae Kissinger) in Nayarit, Mexico.

Resumen: Se registra por primera vez a Eupelmus cushmani (Crawford) (Hymenoptera: Eupelmidae) como parasitoide del barrenador de ramas del aguacate, Copturus aguacatae Kissinger en Nayarit, México.

Resumo Os frutos da Jaca foram recolhidos (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) com sintomas de podridão mole castanho durante períodos de seca (Maio-Junho de 2016) e chuvoso (Agosto, 2016) em plantações dos municípios de San Blas e Compostela, Nayarit, México. O objetivo do estudo foi identificar o agente causal da podridão mole de frutos pré-colheita. 150 dissecções área progressão da doença foram obtidos a partir de 12 frutos e semeadas em meio de cultura de agar de batata-dextrose médio (PDA). Cinco géneros de fungos ( sp., AColletotrichumspergillus sp., Rhizopus sp., Lasiodiplodia spp. e Cunninghamella sp.) foram isoladas, que foram inoculadas sobre a epiderme de frutos de jaca aparentemente saudável por dois métodos (com e sem ferida) em condições de laboratório com segmentos de PDA micelial de 0,5 cm2 de seis dias de desenvolvimento. Nas testes de patogenicidade, Lasiodiplodia sp. foi a única fungo causador da podridão mole expressas em 5 e 6 dias após a inoculação (dpi) 87,5 % 62,5 % com e sem ferimento, respectivamente. De acordo com as suas características morfológicas e sequência genómica, o fungo patogénico foi identificado como Lasiodiplodia theobromae, o primeiro relatório de que este agente patogénico em jaca fruta em Nayarit, México.

Resumen Se recolectaron frutos de yaca (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) con síntomas de pudrición blanda marrón, durante los periodos seco (mayo-junio, 2016) y lluvioso (agosto, 2016), en plantaciones de los municipios de San Blas y Compostela, Nayarit, México. El objetivo del estudio fue identificar al agente causal de la pudrición blanda de frutos precosecha. Se obtuvieron 150 disecciones de la zona de avance de la enfermedad a partir de 12 frutos y se sembraron en medio de cultivo papa-dextrosa-agar (PDA). Se aislaron cinco géneros de hongos (Colletotrichum sp., Aspergillus sp., Rhizopus sp., Lasiodiplodia sp. y sp.), Cunninghamellalos cuales se inocularon sobre la epidermis de frutos de yaca aparentemente sanos mediante dos procedimientos (con y sin herida) bajo condiciones de laboratorio con segmentos de PDA micelial de 0.5 cm2 de seis días de desarrollo. En las pruebas de patogenicidad Lasiodiplodia sp. fue el único hongo que causó los síntomas de pudrición blanda, expresados a los 5 y 6 días post-inoculación (dpi) en un 87.5 % y 62.5 % con y sin herida, respectivamente. De acuerdo con sus caracteres morfológicos y su secuencia genómica, el hongo patogénico fue identificado como Lasiodiplodia theobromae, siendo el primer reporte de este patógeno en frutos de yaca en Nayarit, México.

Background: The acidic subunit of amarantin (AAC)-the predominant amaranth seed storage protein-has functional potential and its third variable region (VR) has been modified with antihypertensive peptides to improve this potential. Here, we modified the C-terminal in the fourth VR of AAC by inserting four VY antihypertensive peptides. This modified protein (AACM.4) was expressed in Escherichia coli. In addition, we also recombinantly expressed other derivatives of the amarantin protein. These include: unmodified amarantin acidic subunit (AAC); amarantin acidic subunit modified at the third VR with four VY peptides (AACM.3); and amarantin acidic subunit doubly modified, in the third VR with four VY peptides and in the fourth VR with the RIPP peptide (AACM.3.4). Results: E. coli BL21-CodonPlus (DE3)-RIL was the most favorable strain for the expression of proteins. After 6 h of induction, it showed the best recombinant protein titer. The AAC and AACM.4 were obtained at higher titers (0.56 g/L) while proteins modified in the third VR showed lower titers: 0.44 g/L and 0.33 g/L for AACM.3 and AACM.3.4, respectively. As these AAC variants were mostly expressed in an insoluble form, we applied a refolding protocol. This made it possible to obtain all proteins in soluble form. Modification of the VR 4 improves the thermal stability of amarantin acidic subunit; AAC manifested melting temperature (Tm) at 34°C and AACM.4 at 37.2°C. The AACM.3 and AACM.3.4 did not show transition curves. Conclusions: Modifications to the third VR affect the thermal stability of amarantin acidic subunit.

Abstract In this paper it is reported for the first time the species Scymnobius bilucernarius for the state of Nayarit, Mexico. The species was collected by throwing technique in the cultivation of jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) In the municipality of Compostela, during the month of April 2015.

Resumen En el presente trabajo se reporta por primera vez a la especie Scymnobius bilucernarius para el estado de Nayarit, México. La especie fue recolectada mediante la técnica de derribo en el cultivo de yaca (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) en el municipio de Compostela, durante el mes de abril de 2015.

Abstract: In recent years, there has been a growing interest in duodenogastric or non-acid reflux in patients with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). This is due to the association of this disease with alkaline gastritis, severe esophagitis, Barrett’s esophagus and high risk of cancer. However, the role of this disease as an independent entity from GERD is not clear. Most studies focus on symptoms and problems caused by this kind of reflux in the esophagus, ignoring the impact on the gastric level. We present a guide for the proper use of the definitions related to non-acid and duodenogastric reflux and a cause-based classification.

Resumen: En los últimos años, se ha visto un incremento en el interés por los pacientes con enfermedad por reflujo gastroesofágico que presentan reflujo no ácido o duodenogástrico. Su importancia se debe a las consecuencias patológicas que conlleva, ya que se ha asociado con gastritis alcalina, esofagitis severa, mayor riesgo de esófago de Barrett y de progresión a cáncer, reflujo duodenogástrico (RDG) sintomático sin lesiones y síntomas atípicos. Sin embargo, el papel que tiene esta patología como una enfermedad independiente del reflujo gastroesofágico no es nada claro. La mayoría de los estudios se enfocan en los síntomas y trastornos que presenta este reflujo a nivel del esófago, y existe escasa información sobre el impacto que tiene a nivel gástrico independientemente de lo que sucede en el esófago. Presentamos una guía para el correcto uso de las definiciones relacionadas con el reflujo no ácido y el reflujo duodenogástrico, así como una clasificación basada en sus causas.

From April 1st to May 30ª, 2007, lower concentrations than commercially recommended of Cydia pomonella granulosis virus(CpGV) were applied to the larvae of C. pomonella in Jamé, Arteaga, Coahuila, México, which were 35, 75 and 150 mL ha (7.7X10(11), 1.65X10(12), and granules 3.3X10(12) ha), in an experimental orchard of apple with Golden and Red Delicious varieties. Efficiency was established in relation to the cumulative percentage of damaged fruit in the evaluation period, quantifying the total damaged fruits at each sampling date. There was a significant difference (p <0.05) in the percentage of damaged fruit treated with CpGV (0.09% to 0.58%) compared to the internal and external controls, 1.43% to 4.77% respectively. According to the results, low CpGV doses are effective for controlling the codling moth, as long as they apply on the day of emergence of the larvae.

Del 01 de abril al 30 de mayo de 2007, se hicieron aplicaciones de concentraciones bajas de granulovirus de Cydia pomonella (CpGV) a la recomendada comercialmente en larvas de C. pomonella en Jamé, Arteaga, Coahuila, México, que fueron de 35, 75 y 150 mL/ha (7.7X10(11), 1.65X10(12) y 3.3X10(12) granulos ha), en un huerto experimental de manzano con variedades Golden y Red Delicious. La eficiencia se estableció en relación al porcentaje acumulado de frutos dañados, en el periodo de evaluación, para lo cual se cuantificó el total de los frutos dañados en cada fecha de muestreo. Se observó diferencia significativa (p< 0.05) en el porcentaje de frutos dañados, tratados con CpGV (0.09% a 0.58%), en comparación a los testigos interno y externo con 1.43%a4.77%respectivamente. Acorde a los resultados las dosis bajas de CpGV son eficientes para el control de palomilla de la manzana, siempre y cuando se apliquen el día de la emergencia de las larvas de primer estadio.

Objective: To determine the percentage of healing and fecal continence (FC) with the technique of ligation of intersphinteric fistula tract (LIFT) with 2-0 polyglactin. Design: Experimental, descriptive non-comparative pilot study. Setting: Coloproctology Unit of the General Hospital of Mexico. Statistical analysis: Results are presented in frequency and percentage tables according to each studied variable. Patients and methods: We chose randomly and by convenience 14 patients with complex anal fistula (AF) to be treated with the LIFT technique with 2-0 polyglactin. LIFT could only be performed in 10 patients. They were followed for 3 months after surgery. Results: LIFT could only be performed in 10 (71%) of the patients; of these, 50% did not present secondary fistulous orifice nor exudates; 80% had no pain after surgery, and 100% returned to their working activities after 2 weeks. After 3 months, five patients continued with AF. Of the 10 patients subjected to LIFT, none presented fecal incontinence. Conclusion: LIFT with 2-0 polyglactin is a safe procedure; it was possible to performe the procedure in 71% of the chosen candidates, with a good healing efficacy in 50% of the patients.

Objetivo: Determinar el porcentaje de curación y de continencia fecal (CF) con la ligadura interesfintérica del trayecto fistuloso (LIFT, por sus siglas en inglés: ligation of intersphinteric fistula tract) con poliglactina 2-0. Diseño: Estudio piloto, experimental, descriptivo y no comparativo. Sede: Unidad de Coloproctología del Hospital General de México (UCHGM). Análisis estadístico: Los resultados se presentan en tablas de frecuencia y porcentaje de acuerdo con cada variable estudiada. Material y métodos: De forma no probabilística y por conveniencia, se eligieron 14 pacientes con fístula anal (FA) compleja para tratamiento con la técnica de LIFT con poliglactina 2-0. Sólo a 10 pacientes se les pudo realizar LIFT. Se les dio seguimiento postoperatorio por 3 meses. Resultados: Sólo a 10 pacientes se les pudo realizar LIFT (71%), de los cuales el 50%, a los 3 meses, no presentó orificio fistuloso secundario (OFS) ni exudado; el 80% no tuvo dolor después de la cirugía y el 100% se integró a sus actividades laborales a las 2 semanas. Después de 3 meses, 5 pacientes continuaron con FA. De los 10 pacientes a los que se les realizó LIFT ninguno presentó incontinencia fecal (IF). Conclusión: La LIFT con poliglactina 2-0 es un procedimiento seguro, se logró realizar en el 71% de los candidatos seleccionados y con buena efectividad para la curación del 50%.

Objectives: Upper urinary tract transitional cell carcinoma (UUT-TCC) is a rare disease. Open nephroure-terectomy remains the gold standard for surgical treat-ment. We aim to evaluate the standing of novel surgical treatment in UUT-TCC. Methods: Extensive review of available literature on UUT-TCC, with emphasis in surgical treatment. English medical literature available in PubMed, Ovid, EMBASE y Science Direct was employed for the study. Resultados: Laparoscopic nephroureterectomy, ureteroscopy and percutaneous treatment are the available surgical options that based on adequate patient selection offer acceptable cancer control. Conclusiones: Indications for the treatment of UT-TCC are expanding and this allows clinicians to tailor treatment while preserving oncological results.

Objetivo: El carcinoma de células transicionales del tracto urinario superior (CCT-TUS) es una enfermedad poco común. La opción de tratamiento tradicional ha sido siempre la nefroureterectomía abierta (NUA); nosotros examinamos el rol de los nuevos métodos de tratamiento. Métodos: Revisión de la literatura disponible en carcinoma de células transicionales con énfasis en tratamiento quirúrgico incluyendo las bases de dato de PubMed, Ovid, EMBASE y Science Direct, para artículos en ingles. Resultados: Nefroureterecomia laparoscópica, ureteroscopía y tratamiento percutáneo constituyen las opciones de tratamiento disponibles con adecuados resultados de control oncológico según las características específicas de cada paciente. Conclusiones: Las indicaciones de tratamiento mínimamente invasivo para CCT-TUS se están expandiendo e incluyen diferentes opciones que permiten racionalizar el tratamiento.

Objectives: Laparoscopically assisted radiofrequency is a minimally invasive nephron-sparing treatment option for renal tumors, mainly in patients with high comorbidity. We present the short-term results of our series patients treated with this novel technique. Methods: Renal lesions smaller than 4 cm, suspicious of malignancy or metastasis on CT scan or MRI are candidates for radiofrequency. Under laparoscopic vision the tumor is identified, and percutaneous biopsy is performed. Depending on the size of the tumor, a number of punctures with the radiofrequency needle are performed with the aim to achieve tumor necrosis during at least one cycle of radiofrequency. Follow-up is performed with MRI in the first postoperative day and then after CT scan or MRI at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months. The persistent absence of contrast or vascular necrosis of the lesion is considered a satisfactory ablation without recurrence. Results: 12 patients, two with metastasis and ten with primary lesions (mean age 60.8 years), with one or more lesions suspicious of malignancy underwent radiofrequency. Mean ASA was 2.4. 15 tumors were treated, with a mean diameter of 2.8 cm. An average of 2.5 punctures was performed with the radiofrequency needle. Biopsy results showed: one case of thyroid cancer metastasis, one case of melanoma metastasis, and 10 cases of renal cell carcinoma. Mean hospital stay was 25.8 hours. There were not short-term complications. Follow-up time was 8.8 months. Today there is no evidence of recurrence in imaging tests.ç Conclusions: Radiofrequency is effective eradicating small renal lesions, both primary and metastatic; it is especially useful in patients with high comorbidity. Despite the number of patients with adequate follow-up is not enough, the technology is promising. The approach under laparoscopic vision contributes to an effective biopsy, avoiding dissemination and enabling a more precise radiofrequency by direct vision control of tumor necrosis.

Objetivo: La radiofrecuencia con asistencia laparoscópica es una opción de tratamiento minimamente invasivo para la conservación de parénquima renal, especialmente en pacientes con comorbilidad aumentada. Se presentan los resultados a corto plazo de los pacientes tratados por esta novedosa técnica. Métodos: Las lesiones renales menores de 4 cm., sospechosas de malignidad o de metástasis a la TC o RNM son candidatas para radiofrecuencia. Bajo visión laparoscópica el tumor es identificado, realizándose una biopsia por punción percutánea. Según tamaño del tumor, se realiza un determinado número de punciones con aguja de radiofrecuencia, con el fin de lograr la necrosis del tumor durante al menos 1 ciclo de radiofrecuencia. El seguimiento es realizado con RNM en el día post operatorio 1 y luego con TC o RNM al mes, 3, 6 y 12 meses. La ausencia persistente de contraste o la necrosis vascular de la lesión es considerada una ablación satisfactoria sin recurrencia. Resultados: Doce pacientes, 2 por enfermedad metastásica y 10 por lesiones primarias (edad promedio 60.8 años), con una o más lesiones sospechosas de malignidad fueron tratadas con radiofrecuencia. El ASA promedio fue de 2,4. El número de tumores tratados fue de 15 con un diámetro de 2,8 cm. Se utilizaron un promedio de 2,5 punciones con aguja de radiofrecuencia. Los resultados de la biopsia fueron metástasis de 1° tiroídeo: 1 paciente, metástasis de melanoma: 1 paciente y cáncer de células renales en 10 pacientes. La estadía hospitalaria promedio fue de 25.8 horas. No existieron complicaciones a corto plazo. Tiempo de seguimiento 8.8 meses. Hasta hoy no hay evidencias de recidiva en los controles imagenológicos. Conclusiones: La radiofrecuencia es efectiva en erradicar lesiones renales pequeñas, tanto primarias como metastásicas, siendo especialmente útil en pacientes con comorbilidad aumentada. A pesar de que no hay una cantidad suficiente de pacientes con seguimiento adecuado, esta tecnología es prometedora. El abordaje bajo visión laparoscópica contribuye a una biopsia efectiva, evitando diseminación y permite una radiofrecuencia más certera al constatar bajo visión directa la necrosis del tumor.

Osteoblastoma é tumor benigno raro representando cerca de 1% de todos os tumores ósseos. Até o momento apenas 35 casos com acometimento craniano foram descritos na literatura. Os autores descrevem um caso de osteoblastoma gigante de osso temporal em paciente de 23 anos do sexo masculino. O tumor foi completamente ressecado após embolização de ramos nutrientes oriundos da carótida externa. São discutidos aspectos diagnósticos e terapêuticos deste raro tumor craniano.

Benign osteoblastoma is an uncommon bone tumor accounting for approximately 1% of all bone tumors. There are only 35 cases of skull osteoblastoma reported in the literature. We describe the case of a 23 year old male with a giant osteoblastoma of temporal bone submitted to a total removal of the tumor after an effective embolization of all external carotid branches. The authors discuss diagnostic and management aspects of this uncommon skull tumor.
