Contar e recontar histórias e fatos são repertórios comportamentais constantemente necessários em situações sociais, sejam estas escolares, familiares, ou de lazer. Este estudo buscou avaliar sistematicamente se 11 alunos de primeira série (idades entre seis e sete anos) teriam melhor desempenho em tarefas de recontagem de histórias quando dicas visuais eram apresentadas. As variáveis dependentes foram (a) número de categorias de história inseridas nas tarefas de recontagem e (b) número de palavras recontadas por história. A variável independente foi a apresentação de dicas visuais (figuras) nas tarefas de recontagem. Os resultados indicaram que dicas visuais não resultaram em melhora de desempenho quando o número de categorias de história foi analisado. Também foi verificado que não houve aumento consistente no número de palavras recontadas quando as figuras foram apresentadas. Estudos futuros devem investigar se a reexposição a histórias resultaria em uma mudança significativa no desempenho.

Telling and retelling stories and facts are behavioral repertoires that are constantly recruited in social situations, no matter if these situations occur at school, with the family, or at leisure times. This study aimed at systematically evaluating if 11 first graders (age range six to seven), would perform better in retelling tasks when pictorial prompts were presented. Dependent variables were (a) number of story categories inserted in the retelling tasks and (b) number of retold words per story. The independent variable was the presentation of visual prompts during story retelling tasks. Results indicated that visual prompts did not result in consistent increase in performance when the number of story categories inserted was analyzed. Additionally, there was no consistent increase in the number of words retold when pictures were presented. Future studies should investigate whether repeated exposure to stories would result in a significant change in performance.

OBJETIVO: Avaliar a acurácia da tomografia de alta resolução (TCAR) do tórax em relação à radiografia simples (RX) do tórax no diagnóstico de doença intersticial pulmonar relacionada à esclerose sistêmica (ES). MATERIAIS E MÉTODOS: Foram realizados TCAR e RX de tórax em póstero-anterior e perfil em 34 pacientes com diagnóstico de ES, segundo critérios do Colégio Americano de Reumatologia, e feita comparação entre as prevalências dos achados radiológicos sugestivos de doença intersticial pulmonar encontradas com estes dois métodos de imagem. RESULTADOS: Foram observadas alterações em 31 (91%) das TCAR, enquanto 16 (47%) dos RX de tórax se apresentavam alterados. Os achados mais freqüentes à TCAR foram: linhas septais (74%), faveolamento (56%) e bandas parenquimatosas (26%), localizados predominantemente nas bases pulmonares. Os RX de tórax demonstraram áreas de infiltrado reticular em 32% dos casos e distorção parenquimatosa em 12% dos pacientes. Em 18 (53%) pacientes com RX de tórax normal a TCAR revelou espessamento septal em 55%, vidro fosco em 44%, faveolamento em 38,5% e cistos em 33%. CONCLUSÃO: A TCAR é mais sensível que o RX de tórax para a investigação de envolvimento intersticial pulmonar inicial em pacientes com ES, justificando, em casos incipientes, tratamento com terapia imunossupressora.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the accuracy of high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) with chest radiography in the diagnosis of interstitial lung disease in systemic sclerosis (SSc). MATERIALS AND METHODS: HRCT scans and chest radiographs in postero-anterior and lateral views were performed in 34 patients with systemic sclerosis, according to the American College of Rheumatology preliminary criteria for the diagnosis of SSc. The prevalence of radiological findings suggestive of interstitial lung disease in SSc seen on both imaging methods was compared. RESULTS: Interstitial disease was observed on HRCT images of 31 patients (91%) and in the chest radiographs of 16 patients (47%). The most frequent findings observed on HRCT were septal lines (74%), honeycombing (56%) and parenchymal bands (26%). Chest radiographs showed reticular areas of attenuation in 11 patients (32%) and parenchymal distortion in 12% of the patients. In 18 patients (53%) with normal chest radiographs HRCT showed septal lines in 55%, ground glass in 44%, honeycombing in 38.5% and cysts in 33%. CONCLUSION: HRCT is more sensitive than chest radiography in the evaluation of incipient interstitial lung involvement in patients with SSc and can provide a justification for immunosuppressive therapy in patients with early disease.
