RESUMO OBJETIVO Estimar a soroprevalência de anticorpos do vírus SARS-CoV-2 em escolares de quatro a 14 anos de idade residentes no município de São Paulo, segundo variáveis clínicas, demográficas, epidemiológicas e sociais, durante o período de fechamento das escolas como medida de controle da covid-19. MÉTODOS Realizou-se um inquérito sorológico em setembro de 2020 com amostra aleatória estratificada por tipo de rede de ensino (pública municipal, pública estadual e privada). Foi coletada amostra de sangue venoso utilizando-se o teste de imunoensaio de fluxo lateral da fabricante Wondfo para detecção de anticorpos totais contra o vírus SARS-CoV-2. Aplicaram-se questionários semiestruturados para o levantamento de dados clínicos, demográficos, sociais e epidemiológicos. RESULTADOS A soroprevalência de anticorpos do vírus SARS-CoV-2 em escolares foi de 16,6% (IC95% 15,4–17,8). O estudo encontrou soroprevalências mais elevadas na rede pública municipal (18,5%; IC95% 16,6–20,6) e estadual (16,2%; IC95% 14,4–18,2) em relação à rede privada (11,7; IC95% 10,0–13,7) e entre escolares da raça/cor preta e parda (18,4%; IC95% 16,8–20,2) e no estrato social mais vulnerável (18,5%; IC95% 16,9–20,2). A pesquisa identificou menores soroprevalências nos escolares que relataram seguir as medidas recomendadas de proteção contra a covid-19. CONCLUSÃO A soroprevalência de anticorpos contra o vírus SARS-CoV-2 atinge principalmente os escolares socialmente mais vulneráveis. Este estudo pode contribuir para embasar políticas públicas que reforcem a importância da suspensão das aulas presenciais e da necessidade de estratégias de medidas de proteção e acompanhamento do status sorológico daqueles que ainda não foram contemplados no calendário vacinal.

ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To estimate seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in schoolchildren aged 4 to 14 years living in the city of São Paulo, according to clinical, demographic, epidemiological, and social variables, during the school closure period as a measure against covid-19 spread. METHODS A serological survey was made in September 2020 with a random sample stratified by school system (municipal public, state public and private) type. A venous blood sample was collected using the Wondfo SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Test (lateral flow method) for detection of total SARS-CoV-2 virus antibodies. Semi-structured questionnaires were applied to collect clinical, demographic, social, and epidemiological data. RESULTS Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in schoolchildren was of 16.6% (95%CI 15.4–17.8). The study found higher seroprevalence in the municipal (18.5%; 95%CI 16.6–20.6) and state (16.2%; 95%CI 14.4–18.2) public school systems compared to the private school system (11.7; 95%CI 10.0–13.7), among black and brown students (18.4%; 95%CI 16.8–20.2) and in the most vulnerable social stratum (18.5 %;95%CI 16.9–20.2). Lower seroprevalence was identified in schoolchildren who reported following the recommended protective measures against covid-19. CONCLUSION Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies is found mainly in the most socially vulnerable schoolchildren. This study can contribute to support public policies that reinforce the importance of suspending face-to-face classes and developing strategies aimed at protective measures and monitoring of the serological status of those who have not yet been included in the vaccination schedule.

RESUMO Esta comunicação breve demonstra a correlação de sintomas respiratórios persistentes com achados funcionais, tomográficos e de biópsia pulmonar transbrônquica em pacientes com COVID-19 que tiveram um longo período de acompanhamento. Relatamos uma série de seis pacientes com COVID-19 com acometimento pulmonar que apresentavam dispneia persistente após 4-15 meses da alta. Realizamos biópsias transbrônquicas, e o padrão histopatológico consistentemente demonstrou remodelação peribrônquica com fibrose pulmonar intersticial. Portanto, a biópsia pulmonar pode ser útil na abordagem de pacientes com COVID-19 prolongada, embora o tipo de procedimento, suas indicações precisas e o momento de sua realização ainda não estejam esclarecidos. ABSTRACT This brief communication demonstrates the correlation of persistent respiratory symptoms with functional, tomographic, and transbronchial pulmonary biopsy findings in patients with COVID-19 who had a long follow-up period. We report a series of six COVID-19 patients with pulmonary involvement who presented with persistent dyspnea within 4-15 months of discharge. We performed transbronchial biopsies, and the histopathological pattern consistently demonstrated peribronchial remodeling with interstitial pulmonary fibrosis. Therefore, lung biopsy may be useful in the approach of patients with long COVID-19, although the type of procedure, its precise indication, and the moment to perform it are yet to be clarified. ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To estimate the evolution of the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection among residents aged 18 years or over in the municipality of São Paulo. METHODS This is a population-based household survey conducted every 15 days, between June and September 2020, and January and February 2021. In total, the study comprised 11 phases. The presence of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 was identified in venous blood using a lateral flow test, Wondfo Biotech. In the last phase, the researchers combined it with an immunoenzymatic test, Euroimmun. The participants also answered a semi-structured questionnaire on sociodemographic and economic factors, and on social distancing measures. Prevalence estimates and the 95% confidence interval were estimated according to regions, Human Development Index, sex, age group, ethnicity, education, income, and variables associated with risk or prevention of infection. To compare the frequencies among the categories of each variable, the chi-square test with Rao-Scott correction was used, considering a significance level of 5%. RESULTS In total, 23,397 individuals were interviewed and had their samples collected. The estimated prevalence of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 ranged from 9.7% (95%CI: 7.9–11.8%) to 25.0% (95%CI: 21.7–28.7). The prevalence of individuals with antibodies against the virus was higher among black and brown people, people with lower schooling and income, and among residents of regions with lower Human Development Index. The lowest prevalences were associated with recommended measures of disease protection. The proportion of asymptomatic infection was 45.1%. CONCLUSION The estimated prevalence of the infection was lower than the cumulative incidence variation, except for the last phase of the study. The differences in prevalence estimates observed among subpopulations showed social inequality as a risk of infection. The lower prevalence observed among those who could follow prevention measures reinforce the need to maintain social distancing measures as a way to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o valor nutricional da palma orelha-de-elefante-mexicana (OEM) (Opuntia stricta), armazenada por diferentes períodos, e sua aceitabilidade por novilhas Girolando. Foram utilizadas cinco novilhas distribuídas em quadrado latino 5x5. Os tratamentos foram os seguintes: palma OEM, sem armazenamento; OEM armazenada por três períodos pós-colheita - 7, 14 e 21 dias; e palma-miúda (PM) (Nopalea cochenillifera) sem armazenamento, como tratamento controle. As dietas oferecidas aos animais foram compostas de palmas dos diferentes tratamentos, assim como silagem de cana-de-açúcar e farelo de soja, e foram avaliadas quanto à composição químico-bromatológica, consumo e digestibilidade dos nutrientes. O comportamento ingestivo das novilhas foi avaliado. A palma OEM não diferiu da PM quanto à matéria orgânica, proteína bruta, fibra em detergente neutro corrigida quanto às cinzas e proteína, carboidratos não fibrosos, carboidratos totais, extrato etéreo e matéria mineral; no entanto, a palma OEM diferiu da PM quanto à matéria seca e à fibra em detergente neutro indigestível, quando armazenada por diferentes períodos. O peso das novilhas variou em 1,35 kg, com a baixa inclusão de concentrado na dieta. A palma orelha-de-elefante-mexicana mantém constante seu valor nutricional e sua aceitabilidade pelas novilhas Girolando, após armazenamento por diferentes períodos até 21 dias.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the nutritional value of erect prickly pear (EPP) (Opuntia stricta), stored for different periods, and its acceptability by Girolando heifers. Five heifers were distributed in a 5x5 Latin square. The treatments were as follows: EPP without storage time; stored EPP for three post-harvest periods - 7, 14, and 21 days; and cochineal nopal cactus (CNC) (Nopalea cochenillifera) without storage time, as a control treatment. The diets offered to the animals were composed of cacti of the different treatments, as well as sugarcane silage and soybean meal, and were evaluated for their chemical composition, intake, and nutrient digestibility. The ingestive behavior of the heifers was evaluated. The cactus EPP did not differ from the CNC for organic matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber corrected for ash and protein, nonfibrous carbohydrates, total carbohydrates, ether extract, and mineral matter; however, EPP stored for different periods differed from CNC for dry matter and indigestible neutral detergent fiber. Heifer weights varied 1.35 kg with the low inclusion of concentrate in the diet. The cactus erect prickly pear maintains constant both its nutritional value and its acceptability to Girolando heifers, after storage for different periods up to 21 days.

RESUMO CONTEXTO E OBJETIVO: Esta revisão sistemática comparou o reiki e a oração ao uso de medicamentos, a fim de aliviar a dor durante a internação para cesariana, visto que há um aumento na popularidade da medicina integrativa e cura espiritual. Esta revisão teve como objetivo avaliar se o reiki ou oração são eficazes no alívio da dor durante a cesariana. TIPO DE ESTUDO E LOCAL: Revisão sistemática com metanálise realizada na Faculdade de Medicina de Botucatu UNESP, São Paulo, Brasil. MÉTODOS: As seguintes bases de dados foram pesquisadas até março de 2016: MEDLINE, Embase, LILACS e CENTRAL. Nesse sentido, foram incluídos ensaios clínicos randomizados publicados em inglês e português. Dois revisores rastrearam independentemente artigos elegíveis, extraíram dados e avaliaram o risco de viés. A tabela GRADE foi realizada para avaliar o risco de viés. RESULTADOS: Evidências com alto índice de viés encontraram uma diminuição estatisticamente significativa na redução da dor (diferença média = -1,68; intervalo de confiança de 95%: -1,92 a -1,43; P < 0,00001; I2 = 92%), com o uso de reiki e oração comparado com o grupo protocolar. Além disso, não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa na frequência cardíaca, pressão arterial sistólica e diastólica. CONCLUSÃO: Evidência com alto risco de viés sugeriu que reiki e meditação oração podem ser associadas com a redução da dor.

ABSTRACT CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE: This systematic review compared reiki and prayer with drug use for relieving pain during hospitalization for cesarean, given that the popularity of integrative medicine and spiritual healing has been increasing. It had the aim of evaluating whether reiki or prayer is effective in relieving pain during cesarean section. DESIGN AND SETTING: Systematic review with meta-analysis conducted at Botucatu Medical School, UNESP, São Paulo, Brazil. METHODS: The following databases were searched up to March 2016: MEDLINE, Embase, LILACS and CENTRAL. Randomized controlled trials published in English or Portuguese were included in the review. Two reviewers independently screened eligible articles, extracted data and assessed the risk of bias. A GRADE table was produced to evaluate the risk of bias. RESULTS: There was evidence with a high risk of bias showing a statistically significant decrease in pain score through use of reiki and prayer, in relation to the protocol group: mean difference = -1.68; 95% confidence interval: -1.92 to -1.43; P < 0.00001; I2 = 92%. Furthermore, there was no statistically significant difference in heart rate or systolic or diastolic blood pressure. CONCLUSION: Evidence with a high risk of bias suggested that reiki and prayer meditation might be associated with pain reduction.

RESUMO Na oferta de uma educação esportiva em escala nacional o Programa Segundo Tempo (PST) elaborou padrões teóricos e metodológicos visando fornecer um ensino esportivo de qualidade. Para avaliar sua proposta pedagógica o PST construiu um modelo de avaliação para medir o grau de adesão dos docentes do programa ao modelo pedagógico PST. Desse modo, o objetivo do presente estudo foi elaborar o Protocolo de Observação de aula (POA), bem como estabelecer sua validade de face e de conteúdo. Para a construção do instrumento foram observadas as seguintes etapaa: a. revisão dos documentos que fundamentam o PST; b. reuniões e consultas as equipes pedagógicas; c. construção da definição operacional; d. construção dos itens; e. estudo piloto (Índice de Concordância entre os observadores ao avaliarem a mesma aula). De uma forma geral, não foram encontradas divergências entre as equipes quanto a relevância dos itens e seus ponderamentos. Além disso, a aplicação piloto apresentou Índice de Concordância de 0,71 ± 0,22. Desse modo, o POA se mostrou consistente e um excelente balizador para medir a qualidade de entrega das aulas do PST nos núcleos.

ABSTRACT The Programa Segundo Tempo (PST) designed theorethical and methodological standards in order to provide quality in sports education on national scale. The PST built an evaluation model to measure the compliance level of teachers to the PST pedagogical model. Thus, the objective of this study was to design the Class Observation Protocol (COP), as well as to establish its face and content validity. The following steps were followed in the instrument’s construction: a. review of the documents underlying the PST; B. meetings and consultations with the pedagogical teams; C. construction of the operational definition; d. construction of items; and. pilot study (Concordance Index between observers assessing the same class). In general, no differences were found between teams as to the relevance of the items and their weights. In addition, a pilot application presented a Concordance Index of 0.71 ± 0.22. Thus, the COP proved to be consistent and an excellent indicator to measure the PST’s teaching quality.

As mudanças no comportamento de amaciamento que ocorrem durante a deformação a quente de um aço estão diretamente ligadas a parâmetros como deformação, taxa de deformação, temperatura, tempo de espera entre passes e taxa de resfriamento. Um aço estrutural foi estudado através de ensaio de torção a quente. Os corpos de prova foram usinados a partir de esboços do aço, sendo retirados após a laminação de desbaste. Foram realizados ensaios de torção isotérmicos e ensaios de torção com múltiplas deformações em resfriamento contínuo no laboratório de conformação mecânica do CETEC, em Belo Horizonte-MG. Através das curvas de escoamento plástico, geradas pelos ensaios de torção isotérmicos, foram determinadas a tensão e a deformação de pico para temperaturas variando de 1150ºC à 650ºC e foram realizadas análises metalográficas das amostras para se verificar o comportamento do tamanho de grão do material. Foi realizado cálculo das temperaturas críticas (Tnr e Ar3), através da utilização de equações disponíveis, na literatura. Tal cálculo foi comparado com os valores obtidos durante o ensaio com múltiplas deformações em resfriamento contínuo e verificado que a variação não passou de 1,8%.

The softening behavior changes that occur during hot deformation of steel is directly related to processing parameters such as strain, strain rate, temperature, interpass time and cooling rate. A structural steel was analyzed by hot rolling simulation using hot torsion tests. The specimens were machined from work piece after roughing mill. Isothermal torsion and multiple strains in continuous cooling torsion tests were performed in hot deformation laboratory of CETEC, in Belo Horizonte-MG. Peak stress and strain for temperatures ranging from 1150ºC to 650ºC were determined through flow curves generated by isothermal torsion tests and metallographic analysis were performed to verify the behavior of grain size of the material. The critical temperatures (Tnr and Ar3) were calculated by equations available in literature and compared to values obtained from the test flow curves (the variation did not exceed 1.8%).

The most studied phyto constituent isolated from Virola surinamensis (Rol. ex Rottb.) Warb., Myristicaceae, is the tetrahydrofuran neolignan grandisin, which exhibits a series of biological activities, including trypanocidal, larvicidal and antitumoral. Due to its extremely low solubility, additional studies, including in vivo investigations are challenged by the difficulties in the development of an effective drug delivery system for grandisin. The encapsulation in polymeric nanoparticles is a very attractive alternative for overcoming some of these limitations. In this work, PLGA nanocapsules loaded with grandisin were developed in an attempt to optimize the efficacy of grandisin as an antitumoral drug, with high drug loading and efficiency, prolonged drug release and increased physical-chemical stability. Mean diameter of the nanocapsules was lower than 200 nm, with very low polydispersity. Encapsulation efficiency was above 90%. A sustained in vitro drug release was achieved for up to twenty days and cytotoxicity was markedly increased (IC50 for grandisin-NC and grandisin were 0.005 µM and 0.078 µM, respectively), indicating that polymeric nanocapsules are a potential drug delivery system for grandisin allowing the preparation of formulations viable for further in vivo studies.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o crescimento de ramos das variedades de videira Merlot e Cabernet Sauvignon, em 2006/2007, e Cabernet Sauvignon, em 2008/2009, em São Joaquim, SC. O experimento foi realizado em um vinhedo comercial conduzido em espaldeira. Foram selecionados ramos da parte central das plantas e foi avaliado o comprimento da base até o ápice de 20 ramos por cultivar. Em 2006/2007, o monitoramento iniciou-se a partir da poda, em 15/9/2006, e foi encerrado em 6/2/2007, o que totalizou 144 dias de avaliação. Durante o ciclo 2008/2009, avaliou-se a fenologia e o crescimento dos ramos para 'Cabernet Sauvignon' a partir do desenvolvimento das bagas (13/1/2009) (bagas em tamanho de ervilha) até todos os ramos não apresentarem crescimento vegetativo. A brotação iniciou-se na segunda quinzena de setembro, e a paralisação do crescimento dos ramos ocorreu durante o período de maturação. Maiores taxas de crescimento (cerca de 4 cm por dia) foram observadas em pré e pós-floração, seguidas de redução em virtude da competição por fotoassimilados para a formação de flores e cachos. A temperatura e o fotoperíodo induzem a paralisação de crescimento dos ramos nas regiões de altitude de Santa Catarina.

The objective of this work was to evaluate shoot growth of the grapevine varieties Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, during 2006/2007, and Cabernet Sauvignon, during 2008/2009, in São Joaquim, SC, Brazil. The experiment was carried out in a commercial vineyard trained on a vertical trellis system. The shoots of the central part of the plants were selected, and the lengths from the base to the apex of 20 shoots per cultivar were evaluated. In 2006/2007, monitoring began at pruning, on 9/15/2006, and ended on 2/6/2007, totalizing 144 days of evaluation. During the 2008/2009 cycle, phenology and shoot growth for 'Cabernet Sauvignon' were assessed from grape development (1/13/2009) (pea-sized grapes) until shoot vegetative growth had ceased. Budburst occurred in the second half of September, and shoot-growth cessation occurred during ripening. Higher growth rates (about 4 cm per day) were observed in pre- and post-flowering, followed by reduction due to the competition for photosynthates for the formation of flowers and bunches. Temperature and photoperiod induce grapevine shoots to cease growth in the highland regions of Santa Catarina State, Brazil.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact and fracture resistance of acrylic resins: a heat-polymerized resin, a high-impact resin and an experimental polymethyl methacrylate with elastomer in different proportions (10, 20, 40 and 60%). 120 specimens were fabricated and submitted to conventional heat-polymerization. For impact test, a Charpy-type impact tester was used. Fracture resistance was assessed with a 3-point bending test by using a mechanical testing machine. Ten specimens were used for each test. Fracture (MPa) and impact resistance values (J.m-1) were submitted to ANOVA - Bonferroni's test - 5% significance level. Materials with higher amount of elastomer had statistically significant differences regarding to impact resistance (p < 0.05). Fracture resistance was superior (p < 0.01) for high-resistance acrylic resin. The increase in elastomer concentration added to polymethyl methacrylate raised the impact resistance and decreased the fracture resistance. Processing the material by injection decreased its resistance to impact and fracture.

CONTEXTO: O câncer dos seios paranasais é considerado raro com uma incidência menor que 1 por 100.000 por ano. O seio frontal é o sítio primário em apenas 0,3% dos casos. A seguir relatamos um caso de adenocarcinoma do seio frontal. TIPO DE ESTUDO: Relato de caso. RELATO DO CASO: Paciente do sexo feminino, 59 anos, secretária, com queixa de quatro meses de cefaléia frontal de leve intensidade (fevereiro de 1998). Negava contato com serragem. Ao exame notava-se um abaulamento frontal à direita, adjacente a borda medial da órbita direita, de característica endurecida. A tomografia computadorizada mostrava um tumor com densidade de partes moles preenchendo o seio frontal com invasão intracraniana através da parede posterior. O seio etmoidal anterior e a borda medial da órbita direita também estava envolvida. A ressonância nuclear magnética demonstrava espessamento dural em comunicação com o tumor. A paciente foi submetida a exérese tumoral em bloco através de craniotomia bicoronal incluindo exenteração orbitária à direita. O exame histopatológico revelou adenocarcinoma. Após a cirurgia a paciente apresentou recidiva tumoral com resposta parcial a radioterapia e quimioterapia.

CONTEXT: Paranasal sinus cancer is considered rare, with an incidence of less than 1 per 100,000 per year, with the frontal sinus being the primary site in only 0.3%. We report a case of adenocarcinoma arising in the frontal sinus. DESIGN: Case report. CASE REPORT: A 59-year-old woman, secretary, came in February 1998 with a 4-month history of low intensity frontal headache. She denied contact with wood dust. On examination a non-tender swelling was noted over her right forehead next to the medial aspect of the right orbit. CT scan showed a soft-tissue mass involving frontal sinus with intracranial invasion through the posterior wall. The anterior ethmoid sinus and the medial aspect of the right orbit were also involved. MRI demonstrated dural thickening in communication with the frontal mass. She underwent an en-bloc tumor resection by craniotomy including orbital clearance. Histology revealed an adenocarcinoma. After surgery she had tumor recurrence, and chemotherapy and radiotherapy were started resulting in partial improvement.
