RESUMO Objetivo Analisar a percepção de alunos dos cursos de Fonoaudiologia e de Pedagogia a respeito de suas experiências e práticas de leitura e escrita de textos pertencentes ao gênero do discurso na esfera acadêmica. Método Pesquisa de caráter quanti-qualitativo, de corte transversal e do tipo analítico. Para o levantamento dos dados, foi aplicado um questionário com perguntas que abrangiam a relação dos alunos com a leitura e com a escrita de textos pertencentes ao gênero acadêmico e as dificuldades enfrentadas no uso desse gênero do discurso. Resultados Muitos alunos supõem que apresentam alguma dificuldade no uso dos gêneros discursivos usados na universidade, o que pode indicar lacunas no trabalho com a linguagem escrita nos níveis de ensino que antecederam sua entrada no Ensino Superior. Alguns discentes referiram que se sentem culpados por não acompanharem, de forma efetiva, as atividades de leitura e de escrita propostas em seus respectivos cursos universitários, subentendendo que isso se deve a um distúrbio inerente aos mesmos. Conclusão Apesar do aumento do número de alunos no Ensino Superior, muitos ainda sentem-se excluídos da vida acadêmica, especialmente, por não usarem, de maneira proficiente, textos próprios deste nível de ensino. Cabe à Universidade e a todos os atores envolvidos na formação superior promoverem ações que considerem o direito a educação de todos os alunos.

ABSTRACT Purpose to analyze the perception of Speech-Therapy and Education undergraduates regarding their experiences and practices in reading and writing texts from academic discourse genres. Methods It´s a mixed crosscut study, with data collected by the application of a semi-structured questionnaire with open and closed questions about students’ relation towards reading and writing of academic texts, their difficulties in the use of these genres and how they cope with such difficulties. Results The results show that a significant number of the students assume that they have some difficulty in reading and writing these discourse genres in academic settings, which may be an indication of gaps in working with reading and writing during previous educational levels. Some of these students even blame themselves for not effectively following the reading and writing proposals in higher education, implying that this is due to an intrinsic disorder. Conclusion The data allow us to state that, despite the increase in the number of students in higher education, many still feel excluded from academic life, especially for not using academic discourse genres in a proficient way. It is the University responsibility, along with all actors involved in higher education, to promote actions that consider the right to education for all students.

RESUMO A Síndrome de Treacher Collins ou Disostose Mandibulofacial é decorrente de mutações genéticas e caracterizada por malformações craniofaciais. Crianças com essa síndrome podem apresentar dificuldades cognitivas, linguísticas e psicomotoras. São raras as publicações que discorrem sobre a complexidade de seus aspectos terapêuticos, especialmente, voltados à evolução clínica vinculada à linguagem. O presente estudo objetiva analisar o processo terapêutico voltado à oralidade de um menino com essa síndrome, considerando a natureza dialógica da linguagem. Trata-se de um estudo de caso longitudinal e prospectivo, realizado em uma clínica-escola de uma Universidade, situada no sul do Brasil, durante quatro anos, desde 2012 até 2016. Os dados foram coletados a partir de gravações semanais do paciente em interação com os seus terapeutas, sendo, também, considerados os registros arquivados em seu prontuário. Os resultados indicam que a criança apresentou evolução no que se refere à apropriação da linguagem oral. Apesar das dificuldades na produção vocal e na articulação de fonemas, decorrentes de alterações craniofaciais próprias da síndrome em questão, as atividades dialógicas estabelecidas entre o menino, seus terapeutas e sua família, propiciaram mudanças gradativas no seu posicionamento em relação ao outro e à linguagem. Inicialmente, ele fazia uso de gestos, mímicas faciais, apontamentos, os quais eram compreendidos apenas pelas pessoas que faziam parte do seu cotidiano. Atualmente, além dos recursos gestuais, ele passou a usar a oralidade para participar de práticas interativas, indicando mais autonomia para interagir com seus interlocutores.

ABSTRACT The Treacher Collins Syndrome or Mandibulofacial dysostosis is due to genetic mutations and characterized by craniofacial malformations. Children with this syndrome may present cognitive, linguistic and psychomotor difficulties. There are few publications that discuss the complexity of its therapeutic aspects, especially those focused on language clinical evolution. The present study aims to analyze a speech - language clinical work on oral language of a boy who has this syndrome, considering the dialogical nature of language. This is a longitudinal and prospective case study, carried out in a university clinic located in the south of Brazil, during four years, from 2012 to 2016. Data were collected from weekly recordings of the patient interacting with his therapists, and also from his record files. The results indicate that this child presented oral language appropriation evolution. Despite his vocal production and phonemes articulation´s difficulties, due to his craniofacial alterations that characterize this syndrome, the dialogical activities established between the child, his therapists and his family, caused gradual changes in his language use. Initially, he used gestures, facial mimics, pointing, which were understood only by people who were part of his daily life. Nowadays, he still uses gestures, but he also began to use oral language to participate in interactive practices, which indicates his autonomy to interact with other people.

RESUMO O objetivo desta pesquisa qualitativa é analisar, em conformidade com o paradigma sócio-histórico, correlações que vêm sendo estabelecidas entre a linguagem escrita, seus processos de apropriação e o distúrbio de processamento auditivo (DPA). Como método, apresenta-se uma revisão de literatura acrescida de estudo de caso de um escolar de 12 anos de idade com diagnóstico de DPA e queixa de dificuldade de leitura e escrita. Os resultados revelam que as pesquisas predominantes na área da fonoaudiologia realizam correlações entre linguagem e DPA pautadas em uma concepção de cérebro como órgão que se desenvolve à margem das práticas sociais, de linguagem como código, e de sujeito como indivíduo meramente biológico. Conclui-se, assim, que tais correlações são reducionistas e inconsistentes e, portanto, não podem justificar uma relação direta entre DPA e linguagem escrita.

ABSTRACT The aim of this qualitative research is to analyze, in accordance with the socio-historical paradigm, correlations that have been established between written language, its appropriation processes and the auditory processing disorder (APD). As its methodology, a literature review is presented, plus a case report of a 12-year-old boy with diagnosis of APD and complaint of reading and writing difficulties. The results show that the predominant researches in the field of speech and language therapy make correlations between language and APD based on a conception of the brain as an organ developed in the margin of social practices, of the language as a code, and of the subject as a merely biological individual. Thus, the conclusion is that these correlations are reductionist and inconsistent and, therefore, cannot justify a direct relation between APD and written language.
