ABSTRACT This paper aimed to investigate the contribution of speech-language-hearing teletherapy to the development of communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorders during the coronavirus-19 pandemic. This qualitative, interventive, longitudinal case series study analyzed data from the medical records of patients, based on instructions given to their families via speech-language-hearing teletherapy during social isolation. It was part of a public outreach program conducted in a speech-language-hearing teaching clinic, aiming to analyze results in the field of language. All children progressed in various aspects, such as the development of communication skills, expanded vocabulary, increased naming and asking, morphosyntactic development, and advancements in the use of augmentative and alternative communication. Also, shared attention and eye contact increased, the interaction with the family improved, and inadequate behaviors decreased; there was greater autonomy in daily routine and greater attention during activities; increased interest in toys during play and longer and more frequent playing, associated with decreased screen time. In conclusion, the results demonstrated progress in communication and social interaction after the speech-language-hearing teletherapy for children presented with autism spectrum disorders during the coronavirus-19 pandemic.

RESUMO Esse trabalho teve por objetivo investigar a contribuição da Telefonoaudiologia no desenvolvimento das habilidades comunicacionais de crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo durante a pandemia da Coronavírus-19. Trata-se de um estudo interventivo, longitudinal de abordagem qualitativa, do tipo série de casos, realizado por meio da análise de dados dos prontuários de pacientes atendidos, a partir das orientações às famílias, via telefonoaudiologia, passadas durante o período de isolamento social, em um projeto de extensão, realizado em uma clínica-escola de Fonoaudiologia, buscando analisar os resultados obtidos na área da linguagem. Foi observada evolução em todas as crianças, em diversos aspectos, como desenvolvimento das habilidades comunicativas com ampliação do vocabulário, aumento de nomeações e solicitações, desenvolvimento morfossintático e avanços no uso da Comunicação Aumentativa e Alternativa. Além do aumento na atenção compartilhada e no contato visual, houve melhora na interação com os familiares e redução dos comportamentos inadequados; maior autonomia na rotina diária e maior atenção durante as atividades; aumento do interesse pelos brinquedos durante a brincadeira e ampliação da frequência e do tempo do brincar, associado à diminuição do uso de telas. Concluiu-se que os resultados demonstraram avanços na comunicação e na interação social, após o teleconsulta fonoaudiológico para crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo durante a pandemia da Coronavírus-19.

Abstract Objective: Identify associated factors for recurrent wheezing (RW) in male and female infants. Methods: Cross-sectional multicentric study using the standardized questionnaire from the Estudio Internacional sobre Sibilancias en Lactantes (EISL). The questionnaire was applied to parents of 9345 infants aged 12-15 months at the time of immunization/routine visits. Results: One thousand two hundred and sixty-one (13.5%) males and nine hundred sixty-three (10.3%) females have had RW (≥3 episodes), respectively (p10 colds episodes (OR = 3.46; IC 95% 2.35-5.07), air pollution (OR = 1.33; IC 95% 1.12-1.59), molds at home (OR = 1.23; IC 95% 1.03-1.47), Afro-descendants (OR = 1.42; IC 95% 1.20-1.69), bronchopneumonia (OR = 1.41; IC; 1.11-1.78), severe episodes of wheezing in the first year (OR = 1.56; IC 95% 1.29-1.89), treatment with bronchodilators (OR = 1.60; IC 95% 1.22-2,1) and treatment with oral corticosteroids (OR = 1,23; IC 95% 0.99-1,52). Associated factors for RW for females were passive smoking (OR = 1.24; IC 95% 1.01-1,51), parents diagnosed with asthma (OR = 1.32; IC 95% 1,08-1,62), parents with allergic rhinitis (OR = 1.26; IC 95% 1.04-1.53), daycare attendance (OR = 1.48; IC 95% 1.17-1,88), colds in the first 6 months of life (OR = 2.19; IC 95% 1.69-2.82), personal diagnosis of asthma (OR = 1.84; IC 95% 1.39-2.44), emergency room visits (OR = 1.78; IC 95% 1.44-2.21), nighttime symptoms (OR = 2.89; IC 95% 2.34-3.53) and updated immunization (OR = 0.62; IC 95% 0.41-0.96). Conclusion: There are differences in associated factors for RW between genders. Identification of these differences could be useful to the approach and management of RW between boys and girls.

Abstract Pasture is the main food source for more than 200 million cattle heads in Brazil. Although Brazilian forage breeding programs have successfully released well-adapted, high-yielding cultivars over the years, the use of genomic tools in these programs is currently limited. These tools are required to tackle the main challenges for tropical forage breeding in Brazil. In this context, this notes lists the main research priorities raised at the workshop “Breeding Forages in the Genomic Era”, which are necessary to accelerate the use of genomic tools for next-generation breeding of tropical forages and allow breeders to increase genetic gains. Additionally, an online discussion forum (hosted at http://www.cnpgl.embrapa.br/genfor) has been launched to strengthen collaborations among research groups. The research priorities and more synergistic collaborations will assist researchers and decision-makers in delivering a sustainable increase in production of animal products, especially beef and milk, which are required to feed a rising world population.

Resumo: A propagação do maracujazeiro azedo em pomares comerciais é realizada por sementes, no entanto, a germinação das sementes ocorre de maneira irregular. Dentre os fatores que influenciam à germinação no maracujazeiro azedo, a luminosidade atua como ativador para quebra de dormência em Passifloracea, e está diretamente ligada com a profundidade de semeadura. O objetivo no trabalho foi avaliar a emergência e o desenvolvimento de plântulas de maracujazeiro azedo sob diferentes luminosidades e profundidades de semeadura. O trabalho foi desenvolvido em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 3 × 5, sendo três períodos de luminosidade (ausência de luz, presença de luz por 12 h e por 24 h) e cinco profundidades de semeadura (1, 2, 3, 4 e 5 cm); com seis repetições de 25 sementes por parcela. As características avaliadas foram porcentagem, índice de velocidade de emergência, o comprimento total, da parte aérea, do sistema radicular e a massa seca individual. A ausência de luminosidade acelera a emergência de plântulas de maracujazeiro azedo, porém produz plântulas de baixa qualidade. Entretanto, a alternância de luminosidade associada a menor profundidade de semeadura favorece tanto a emergência como a qualidade das plântulas produzidas de maracujazeiro azedo 14 dias após a semeadura.

Abstract: The propagation of passion fruit in commercial orchards is carried out by seeds. However, passion fruit seed germination occurs irregularly. The goal of this study was to evaluate the emergence and development of passion fruit seedlings under different luminosities and sowing depths. The experimental design was completely randomized with six replications of 25 seeds, with a 3 x 5 factor scheme, in which three light conditions (absence of light, presence of 12 h light and 12 h dark and the presence of light for 24 h) were combined with five sowing depths (1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 cm). The emergence test was conducted in a BOD-type germination chamber, with alternating temperatures of 20-30 °C, at intervals of 12 h and the established luminosities. The evaluated characteristics were the emergence percentage for weekly counts, the emergence speed index for 28 days; the total shoot and root length on evaluation day 28 and the individual dry weight. The lack of luminosity accelerates the emergence of passion fruit seedlings, but it produces low quality seedlings. However, the alternation of luminosity associated to a lower sowing depth helps both the emergence and the quality of seedlings produced from passion fruit 14 days after sowing.
