Dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) lymphangiography is a novel imaging technique with a potential role in suspected cases of lymphatic leaks. A 15-year-old male with a post operative chylous leak and an 8-year-old male who developed chylous ascites secondary to disseminated tuberculosis are presented. Abstract Background: Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal symptoms, primarily attributed to sensitization of somatosensory system carrying pain. Few reports have investigated the impact of fibromyalgia symptoms on cognition, corticomotor excitability, sleepiness, and the sleep quality — all of which can deteriorate the quality of life in fibromyalgia. However, the existing reports are underpowered and have conflicting directions of findings, limiting their generalizability. Therefore, the present study was designed to compare measures of cognition, corticomotor excitability, sleepiness, and sleep quality using standardized instruments in the recruited patients of fibromyalgia with pain-free controls. Methods: Diagnosed cases of fibromyalgia were recruited from the Rheumatology department for the cross-sectional, case-control study. Cognition (Mini-Mental State Examination, Stroop color-word task), corticomotor excitability (Resting motor threshold, Motor evoked potential amplitude), daytime sleepiness (Epworth sleepiness scale), and sleep quality (Pittsburgh sleep quality index) were studied according to the standard procedure. Results: Thirty-four patients of fibromyalgia and 30 pain-free controls were recruited for the study. Patients of fibromyalgia showed decreased cognitive scores (p = 0.05), lowered accuracy in Stroop color-word task (for color: 0.02, for word: 0.01), and prolonged reaction time (< 0.01, < 0.01). Excessive daytime sleepiness in patients were found (< 0.01) and worsened sleep quality (< 0.01) were found. Parameters of corticomotor excitability were comparable between patients of fibromyalgia and pain-free controls. Conclusions: Patients of fibromyalgia made more errors, had significantly increased reaction time for cognitive tasks, marked daytime sleepiness, and impaired quality of sleep. Future treatment strategies may include cognitive deficits and sleep disturbances as an integral part of fibromyalgia management.

In this paper, we establish a common fixed point theorem for expansive mappings by using the concept of weak compatibility in the setting of G -metric spaces. This result generalizes the result of Ahmed [2] from 2-metric spaces to G -metric spaces by removing the condition of sequential continuity of the mappings. Further, we generalize and extend the theorem of §ahin and Telci [20] to G -metric spaces and thereby extending the theorem of Wang et al. [23] for a pair of mappings to G -metric spaces. Some comparative examples are constructed which illustrate the obtained results.

Forty-four soybean genotypes with different photoperiod response were selected after screening of 1000 soybean accessions under artificial condition and were profiled using 40 SSR and 5 AFLP primer pairs. The average polymorphism information content (PIC) for SSR and AFLP marker systems was 0.507 and 0.120, respectively. Clustering of genotypes was done using UPGMA method for SSR and AFLP and correlation was 0.337 and 0.504, respectively. Mantel's correlation coefficients between Jaccard's similarity coefficient and the cophenetic values were fairly high in both the marker systems (SSR = 0.924; AFLP = 0.958) indicating very good fit for the clustering pattern. UPGMA based cluster analysis classified soybean genotypes into four major groups with fairly moderate bootstrap support. These major clusters corresponded with the photoperiod response and place of origin. The results indicate that the photoperiod insensitive genotypes, 11/2/1939 (EC 325097) and MACS 330 would be better choice for broadening the genetic base of soybean for this trait.

A synthetic rubber powder was used to adsorb the residual oil in palm oil mill effluent (POME). POME is the wastewater produced by the palm oil industry. It is a colloidal suspension which is 95-96% water, 0.6-0.7% oil and 4-5% total solids including 2-4% suspended solids originating in the mixing of sterilizer condensate, separator sludge and hydrocyclone wastewater. POME contains 4,000 mg dm-3 of oil and grease, which is relatively high compared to the limit of only 50 mg dm-3 set by the Malaysian Department of Environment. A bench-scale study of the adsorption of residual oil in POME using synthetic rubber powder was conducted using a jar test apparatus. The adsorption process was studied by varying parameters affecting the process. The parameters were adsorbent dosage, mixing speed, mixing time and pH. The optimum values of the parameters were obtained. It was found that almost 88% removal of residual oil was obtained with an adsorbent dosage of 30 mg dm-3 and mixing speed of 150 rpm for 3 hr at a pH 7. Adsorption equilibrium was also studied, and it was found that the adsorption process on the synthetic rubber powder fit the Freundlich isotherm model.

In recent years space instruments and remote sensing tools are allowing us to look at the Earth with new eyes; they have extended the scope of vision. India has the world's most gigantic monsoon system which is extremely important for the Indian agriculture. India gets most of its rain during four months (June to September) of the monsoon season. In July we get the highest number of tropical disturbances in the Indian oceanic region. During the month of July 1996, two low pressures and one depression formed over Indian region. The present study aims to derive the moisture profile for the period July 1996, by using remote sensing technique and their impact on the analysis-forecast system. The inclusion of satellite derived moisture in the numerical weather prediction (NWP) model results (i) the weakening monsoon flow pattern near Somalia region, (ii) the reduction of wind speeds in the south Bay of Bengal, (iii) the formation of a trough in the west coast of India, and (iv) the realistic rainfall prediction over the Orissa and Andhra Pradesh region, etc. All these effects are in contrast to the existing control and could help in better prediction of rainfall and flow pattern during the monsoon season.

En años recientes, instrumentos espaciales y herramientas de percepción remota nos han permitido ver a la Tierra de mejor manera, amplificando el ámbito de la visión. India tiene el sistema mundial más gigantesco que es muy importante para su agricultura. Obtiene la mayoría de su lluvia durante los meses de junio a octubre de la temporada del monzón. En julio obtenemos el máximo número de perturbaciones tropicales en la región del Océano Indico. Durante el mes de julio de 1996, dos bajas presiones y una depresión se formaron sobre la región citada. El presente estudio pretende deducir los perfiles de humedad para el mes de junio de 1996 mediante el uso de técnicas de percepción remota y su impacto sobre el sistema de análisis-pronóstico. La inclusión de la humedad derivada mediante los satélites en el modelo de predicción numérica (NWP) resulta en: (i) el debilitamiento de la configuración de flujo monzónico sobre la región de Somalia (ii) la reducción de las velocidades del viento en el sur de la bahía de Bengala, (iii) la formación de una vaguada en la costa oeste del subcontinente y (iv) la predicción realista de la lluvia sobre la región de Orissa y Andhara Pradesh, etc. Todos estos efectos contrastan con el control existente y podrían ayudar a mejorar la predicción de la precipitación pluvial y las configuraciones de flujo durante la temporada monzónica.
